We specialize in traditional Eastern European food. Balkan style Serbian Plentiful of slowly cooked and braised dishes, cabbage rolls, schnitzels, traditional BBQ, homemade desserts,... In very authentic setting that will take you on a cultural trip and satisfy all your senses
I love this restaurant. I started going here not too long ago as my teacher had recommended it as one of his favorite spots for food from Serbia. I remember the first meal I had being the steak dish they serve and finishing the whole meal without stopping. I finished that dinner with a smile on my face and a sense of bliss knowing I couldn't think of a single thing to improve with the dinner. Long answer short I recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly and I believe all should come and try their delicious dishes.
I recently dined at a Tenen European restaurant for the first time, and it was a fantastic experience. I ordered the chicken shish kebab, which was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were amazing—creamy and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the dip. The service was exceptional; our server was very friendly and even gave me extra dip on the house when I was packing up my leftovers. I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was too good not to share. I’ll definitely be coming back!
What an introduction to Serbian cuisine. The veal soup to start was fresh and genuinely flavourful broth with bits of meat and veg. The Lamb cooked in cream sauce was an absolute hit. The creamy garlic sauce was only bettered by the fall apart large quantities of lamb. I usually don’t share food but the main was going to be a significant take home amount if my friend didn’t help. I am favouriting this place for another return.
Pleasantly surprised on the quality of the food and the portions. Great value and delicious. The host/owner was very friendly and informative would definitely go back
This is a unique Eastern European diner! The restaurant is decorated with a collection of European antiques which give it a unique yet cozy vibe. Food and service were superb👍🏻 definitely recommend and will sure revisit!
I've been here twice. The warm and friendly service and high quality food are consistently good. Ambience is cultural, lovely and cozy. Some of the ingredients on the menu are even house-made, e.g., one type of cheese in the schnitzel. We ordered a bacon wrapped pork 'steak' which came with potatoes and was rather filling so my mother and I shared it. We added a salad with feta on the side. It was yummy and fresh but a bit pricey considering the portion size. Krempita was a marvellous dessert. I also recommend the schnitzel that I ordered last time which was also quite satiating and featured an oozing cheese filling. I'll definitely return to try their top selling sandwich.
There were able to accommodate for our large group. It is our first time that we tried Serbian food. We found this restaurant on google and wanted to give it a try because some of the reviewers posted that they have a buffet. But they didn't have a buffet and the server said "we never had a buffet" which seems strange because posts had pictures of the menu and the buffet prices as well. Anyways, the food was delicious! The bread that comes in the appetizer is really good. Kind of expensive but we think it was worth it so ordered that bread again. It's similar to cheese bread in a Brazilian steakhouse. Pros: It is Serbian food, try it if you haven't already. It is good food. Cons: There were some people sitting by the entrance and SMOKING constantly! Not sure if they are the owners or the customers. Their cigarette smell mixed up with our food with the restaurant leaving its door open during operation hours.
It’s a little hole in the wall and a well kept secret in Burnaby! The resto is nestled in a little plaza but once you enter you feel very comfortable. Our server was so nice and welcoming and let us take our time browsing the menu. I went with two friends and we had quite the feast!!! We had the Ushtipci, which are buttermilk fritters, accompanied by salted butter and a red pepper spread. Delicious when butter and dip are mixed! We had the Njegushki steak(pork tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with smoked Gouda); the Karadordjeva Schnitzel (pork tenderloin with kaymak cheese), and the meat platter for 1( which fed three ppl!). Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The portions were very generous, so we were able to take leftovers. Highly recommend not eating beforehand! You’ll be fed very well here! The Slavic beer tasted really good too!
Goulash that sticks to your ribs and keeps you warm all day long. Portion sizes are very generous, and the beer is cold.
I had a lovely time there. The food was amazing. It s delicious and portions are big. The staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is great, a good mixture of culture and art. Totally recommend!
I purposely selected the roast lamb so that I had a direct comparison of similar meals at other restaurants. Of course, the preparation was different than the Greek style I have had at other establishments. Prices between the various establishments is comparable, however the portion here was slightly smaller, so overall, more expensive. I did enjoy the flavours of the meal, but got a nasty surprise towards the end with something that I couldnt chew. I pulled it out of my mouth and saved it on the edge of the plate. I asked the waiter if he could explain what this crinkly, transparent object was and he took my plate to the kitchen. Later, when he returned to collect payment, I asked what the verdict was with what looked to me like a piece of thick plastic (like what a leg of frozen lamb would be wrapped in) and he said it was onion skin. I didnt argue, but if memory serves me correctly, onion skin is never that thick and still transparent, and because it is organic, it flattens out when heated (like using steam to take wrinkles out of clothing). Im still convinced it was a piece of plastic wrap. I may return to try some of their other meals but if I find anything else suspicious in my food, I will know that their attention to hygiene leaves room for improvement. Parking: There are several parking spots in front of the store that are shared with the other businesses. I got the last empty spot despite the restaurant being near empty when I arrived. However, there is free street parking not far away.
Super delicious food friendly stuff
Ive searched for great cevapi since COVID. I found it in another city at tenen. I am so full that Im currently digesting with a czechvar before I try and stand up.
Delicious place, incredible staff, and an amazing experience 100% recommended!
We came across this unique bistro-style restaurant in October during our trip to the Russian performance in Michael J. Fox theatre. Having experienced many Eastern European restaurants in Toronto and New York I was cautious at the beginning, but all my fears vanished the moment we stepped inside and immersed in the family-like atmosphere of the place. The food, simple at first glance, was rich and had a delicious taste. Vienna schnitzel tasted truly authentic. Both the coleslaw salad and the bread were so good that our 14 year old grandson asked to order more. My husband who is a food lover and likes to cook rated the Chevapi higher than the kebabs he ate in Iranian and Turkish restaurants in Toronto. Hats off to the cook and the servers. The quality of the food, the ambiance of the place, and fair prices make this restaurant an excellent choice for both dining out or quick meal. We will be back next time we are in Vancouver.
Authentic, delicious and cooked to perfection! We tried their meat platter and krempite. I cant say enough about how impeccable the food was. Same goes for the service and the atmosphere. A true gem, cant wait to be back.
Amazing service by Maria. This is a nice little neighbourhood spot. You get that Easten Europeon vibe as soon as you walk in, which is cool. The Chicken Skewers were amazing. Perfectly grilled.
Nice food from the Balkans.
The best Serbian Restaurant in Vancouver traditional design with wonderful foods
Wow ,what a pleasant surprise...my son found your place on line..we ordered the player for 4... amazing food...loved having the left overs... decently priced
The trout dish is amazing. Interesting atmosphere and a nice grandmas garden style big patio in the back.
Food portion are big. Flavor are well balanced. You will like to go back to eat the rest in the menu. Nice place to have groups.
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver I dare say the best Temple service atmosphere everything everything Best regards Tenen
Meatfest at a reasonable price! The beef tripe soup is full of ingredients and so good. The meat platter for two was so yummy!! Good service and very cozy environment.
The portions were big (which I like). But I wouldnt recommend what I ordered for health-conscious people as it was quite fatty and lots of melted cheese. Still had a good time there :)
Great lunch spot, friendly staff, delicious food, large serving, good value Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant Food : 5/5 |
Great food awesome atmosphere!
Pretty large portions for the two-person platter, we had leftovers to take home! Lots of very delicious meat items. Smaller restaurant, appealing to locals, however we drove in from a neighbouring city. Our waitress was very personable and provided very lovely service, and explained the food items very well to us. Worth the drive to the restaurant if youre not within walking distance.
Best place to try Europian food
Excellent place!!
After eating, my friend and I both got stomachaches. The server doesnt even look at us. worst.
Food is incredible and authentic, staff are super nice, cozy eastern European environment. You must come here!
Amazing food, great value and large portions. I would highly recommend the meat platter and schnitzel! Decor is very cool with heaps of souvenirs from the Baltic region.
This little restaurant never disappoints. The food is amazing. Very traditional and cozy. Definitely worth going !
The best restoran in Burnaby!!!!
Unreal. Just so good
Highly recommend, very tasty
Tenen is a fantastic spot! The staff are always friendly, and the place feels warm and welcoming. The food is amazing, every time I go, I want to take pictures, but the moment the dishes arrive, I forget all about that because I cant wait to start eating:)
Good food, portions, atmosphere. Came with group of 13 for a birthday dinner. Everyone left happy. Picture is the MVP platter. Its enough food for at least 5 guys. I would come back sometime.
Restaurant with the best Serbian food in Vancouver.
Great foood!
Best food in town. Parking sucks but is worth the (potential) walk Parking: Its tiny
Great food, large portions and a nice atmosphere. Will be coming back! Highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing place. Food is great. Honey rakia is top .
Highly recommend their meat platter (kebab is awesome) and Ushtipci. Kids love their pasta too. Great food and vibe.
Amazing food with large portions, friendly service, cute stuff on the walls! Try the bbq, unlike most places its well worth the price in both portion and flavour.
Stopped here for lunch with a friend on a whim because it was near by. The food was excellent and the atmosphere is relaxed and homey. Loved the decor, so much to look at. Would definitely recommend!
Food are good.
Always consistent and excellent food that is very generous in portions. Great coleslaw and meat platter. Wonderful staff service.
Food tasted great and the portions were large. Really great service as well Parking: Very limited parking lot in front. But lots of street parking Food : 5/5 |
Its must try restaurant. The decoration is full of culture, the food are very tasty. Vegetarian options: Not much options for veg.
Amazing meal! We loved our food so much and the atmosphere was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
We are absolutely stunned by the deliciousness of everything tasted. As people from Georgia, we are familiar with rich and flavorful cuisines, but the culinary delights here were truly exceptional. From the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the impeccable service. The dishes were beautifully presented and bursting with authentic Serbian flavors. Each bite was a delightful journey, showcasing the depth and richness of Serbian cuisine. We would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the chef and the entire team for providing such a memorable dining experience. Thank you!
Top food, generous portions, top-notch service. Definitely recommend.
Had a great experience at Tenen. Our first visit, they were pretty full, but we got lucky and had 1 table left:) The coleslaw was soooo good! I usually dont like Coleslaw because it has mayo. But they dont use mayo, more of a vinaigrette I had the cabbages rolls and mash potatoes. So full of flavor! My boyfriend had the Cevapi and said it was authentic, and unless you are super hungry, the 5 pieces is perfect. We will come back. It had a family vibe, and our server was Lao very nice.
Would recommend - especially their chicken roulade :)
We had six people and ordered the MVP platter. Everything in there was very tasty. If you don t know how to order, can try MVP. They have all different kind of meats in there, salads, potatoes, and breads. Yum yum! But the store smelled very smoky. The smoke prob from the kitchen.
I recently visited tenen and had an outstanding experience! This local gem truly exceeded my expectations in every way. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The menu offers a fantastic variety of options, ensuring theres something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the [specific dish], which was a standout with its perfect blend of spices and fresh ingredients. The drink selection was equally impressive. The bar offers a wide range of craft beers, wines, and creative cocktails. I tried the [specific drink], and it was perfectly crafted and complemented my meal wonderfully. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a night out with friends or a special date. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. If youre looking for a place with amazing food, great drinks, and a welcoming vibe, look no further than tenen. I cant wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings!
Loved it! Never had that kind of food before the sausages and homemade cheese were amazing! 5 stars!
- Nice and cozy place with friendly staff. - The food was absolutely great. - The only downside was a bit of frying oil smell in the restaurant, so we sat outside. Food : 5/5
Great food, great atmosphere. Vegan options were available and the team was very accommodating.
It was a fantastic east European / Serbian / Croatian food with a fantastic environment and very delicious home made tiramisu. Our hostess Tamara was super friendly. Great experience
Yum yum! Authentic and wholesome food.
Been here many times, no issues this time the meat was very chewy, bread stale and cold and before I finished my beer it was taken away !!! The food is not cheap therefore my expectations are higher and I think it is normal. Will not come back .
I recently dined at Tenen Restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience! Specializing in Eastern European cuisine, Tenen offers a culinary journey thats both unique and delightful. The star of the show was their Cevapi, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Each bite was bursting with flavor, showcasing the authentic taste of Eastern Europe. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, complemented by friendly and attentive staff. If youre looking for a place to enjoy delicious and authentic Eastern European food, Tenen is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Amazing food and good service. Pretty adorable
I liked the food. I havent been to Serbia, but the restaurant feels quite authentic. Reminded me of Kusturica atmosphere. What I really didnt like is the cigarette smell inside (and other people mentioned it in the reviews as well). Not sure if its the part of the atmosphere... Food
Freshly baked breads and yummy cheese!
Great comfortable food, family environment.
Balkan cuisine. Really good coleslaw. Themed decor. Patrons smoking by entrance.
Great service, delicious food selections and the ambiance is fantastic!
Wow the portions are big and the food is great. Ive never had Balkan bbq before and tried the meat platter. All the meat is well seasoned and tender. Loved the chevapi especially.
So glad I found this little place food was delicious will come back again.
Great food, great service and atmosphere. Love coming back here
Lovely restaurant with tasty food. We didnt know what to expect really, but food tasted great, and the mashed potato on each dish tasted different! Would definitely come here again.
The place has the vibes of local Eastern European small village eatery. Service is top notch and friendly but food is ok.
Great food and kind staff! It s definitely worth making a trip to enjoy their unique food selection.
Excellent
Amazing! Hidden gem in Burnaby that you must try!
Culinary master piece
Such good Serb food, the pork gulyas and the cevapi were the highlights personally.
Even though the prices did not match those that were here on Google maps on the menu, it was still quite tasty, especially the chicken that we ended up in the village with our grandmother
Quaint restaurant featuring eastern European cuisine. Good food and atmosphere. Serving is great for the price. Youll leave so full.
Grilled pork and Stewed Lamb top notch. Great flavors without all the salt.
Been here many times, my wife loves here, food is great, will definitely comes back again :)
Best Restaurant ever! Delicious Food! Awesome! :-)
Ate here last night for the first time. Incredible food and wonderful atmosphere. Most of the restaurant had been reserved but the staff was very accommodating. Maybe phone ahead to check seating availability. The food was incredible, Every bite from every dish we tried was delicious. The portions were huge as well, we both went in hungry and left with about half of our meals in takeaway containers. Will absolutely be back to try more from this place, highly recommended.
This place is as authentic as it gets. The servings are large with all sorts of meats you could desire. Would come back and recommend.
This restaurant is unreliable. I gave them enough time when I placed my order 24 hours prior to delivery by Ubereats but They cancelled my order at the last minute.
This is such an amazing restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing Parking: Used Uber
Always good in every way
Great service and portions! Hidden gem.
It was a wonderful afternoon and a great meal for us to celebrate mothers day with our family and friends.
Amazing food & amazing people. Authentic taste and service is always top notch
Second time coming here, the food is amazing and I wanted to try everything if I could. Big portions. Interesting cuisine to try!
Absolutely love this place! From the amazing food, to the awesome decor that transports you to eastern Europe, to the wonderful staff. Its quickly become one of my favorite restaurants ANYWHERE!
Wanted to try Eastern European food and found this restaurant on line, a short walk from the Royal Oak Sky train station. It s small and has a cozy atmosphere with Eastern European decor. My wife had the Beef tripe soup and me and my son had the Chevapi 5 piece traditional minced meat kebabs. Every thing was delicious and filling. Tried a bottle of Czechvar beer from the (Czech Republic it was pretty good.
Food was not bad, but not my favourite. Some of the meats weren t very tender and the water tasted weird. The meal also wasn t my preference, so half of it is not their fault. But I have had better cooked meats, so I wouldn t come back again.
We walked by after getting our nails done at Charming and this restaurant smelled SO GOOD that we couldnt resist going in for lunch. Now we make it a date, nails in one spot, lunch in the other! Amazing coffee, super tasty dishes, wonderful friendly service and an amazingly upbeat ambiance. Traditional Eastern European food from Serbia and surrounding peoples! Nice clean bathroom too! Parking: About 8 spots shared in the three-business complex. Free street parking as well! Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor parking and entrance.
One of the best restaurants in the lower mainland! The cevaphi was absolutely delicious! The waiters were so kind. I recommend for everyone to try this place out!
This one has been on my list for a while and it did not fall short of expectations- they were exceeded! We ordered the Cevapi and the Karadjordjeva snitzla and it felt like I was back home in Serbia! The taste of the food and every little detail in rhetorical restaurant was perfectly curated for those who are nostalgic of the Balkan charm.w Will definitely come back here again!
I really love the service and the place! I think is a little bit overpriced but I highly recommend the place anyway.
Very cool place great food great interior decorations fast service, only minor issue was lack of parking. We ended up buying stuff next door and I asked them if I could park and they said fine.
Really tasty food! Will definitely be back :)
The best restaurant in Burnaby. I recommend Tenen for smaller birthday parties. Always fresh and huge portions!!!
Delicious comfort food in generous portions. Fast and friendly service.
Really great food, and so much of it! A group of four of us tried the MVP platter which is a sampling of a lot of the menu... And it was A LOT! Everything was really tasty, and the service was good too. Definitely will have to come back again!
It was our second time going to Tenen, we wont repeat. We had the lamb and cabbage rolls. The food came cold and tasteless. The lamb was mostly bones with bad sauce. We could not eat it. The cabbage rolls were badly prepared. Very disappointing experience.
We stopped here on a trip to Vancouver last October, and it was by far the best meal we had during our week-long stay. We had the schnitzel and roulade, and both were fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, too. The owners and waitstaff were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious Eastern European style meal! Parking: Very few parking spaces, but its free and we did not have trouble getting a parking space at lunchtime.
Visiting Tenen was a culinary delight! From the first bite to the last, every dish was a burst of flavor and authenticity. I tried the lamb and rainbow trout, two dishes I hold to high standards due to my Persian background, and they were cooked to perfection, rivaling even the best homemade versions. The owners warm hospitality added to the experience, making us feel right at home. The service was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Tenen offers more than just great food; it provides an immersive cultural experience. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, making you feel like youve stepped into a Serbian home. From the decor to the music, every detail adds to the authenticity of the experience. Its not just a meal; its a journey through culture and cuisine. A truly memorable dining experience!
We dined in once and ordered several times through food delivery services, the food is always good. A bit on the pricey end but very generous portions. Absolute fan of the karadjordjeva schnitzler and the evapi. Food
Stopped during my travels for some Balkan cuisine and was not disappointed. Recommend to all cevapi fans
A very popular place. The portions are Balkan portions . A great culinary experience and a fun place to hang out.
Really good tasty food. We ordered the meat platter for 2 and we still had a lot of leftovers. The decorations in the restaurant were pretty cool. Friendly servers, but we waited a while to be served. Overall, highly recommended!
First time there and food was very flavourful. Many menu choices. Will tell friends about this.
Was it a bad food day. It was the snowy Wed in Jan. The food was awful. Horribly over-salted. Was the chef absent and someone else in the kitchen. I do not know but I know that the food was awful. I asked about something. Was told that she would bring it on the side. Turns out it was part of the plate. She brought a big extra portion then charged for it. This was not a good food experience. This was not a good restaurant experience.
Amazing experience there!
I m from Colombia and I visited this place. I really loved its food. The service is amazing and the place is too cozy! I highly recommended
Had my after baptism dinner here, the best Serbian food in the city hands down, felt like home, like mothers cooking
Great, cozy place, feels like you re back in Europe <3
This restaurant offers a serene atmosphere and delectable food. The meat platter is generous, with juicy and tender skewers, complemented by delicious cheese. While the white wine was stronger than anticipated, it paired well with the meat. A must-visit for a delightful dining experience.
If you have not tried European food before this place is incredible. The portion sizes are huge and the meat is decadent. My friend and I split the platter for two. We have appetites that are difficult to satisfy and we barely were able to finish it there was so much meat.
Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Really liked this place.
I love the food here, come very hungry because its so much amazing food
Loved it!
Was taken to this hidden gem in around my neighbourhood for my birthday! The atmosphere is like being transported to Eastern Europe. The owner is gracious and personally took care of us. The service is top notch. The food is super good and filling and cannot wait to go back and try some of the other dishes!
Weve been here several times now, and the foods always great. Staff are nice and friendly, and the prices are fair. The place itself is a bit small, but well-decorated.
The best espresso...
Really cool, chill vibe. We always love coming here it never disappoints. Highly recommend the veal, very delicious. Honestly, all the food is fantastic, the service is great, and I feel like family walking into this restaurant. I definitely recommend checking this place out!
Excellent friendly service. Food is good. Fun atmosphere
Wasn t sure what to expect when I came here for lunch. It came out as definitely big positive surprise. Worth another visit for this Serbian cuisine. It s wonderful bread so soft and moist. Chicken was succulent unlike the one I had in Europe.
The food is absolutely amazing, second time being here, if you are on the fence or wondering if you should go or not, just go. It is worth it. Parking: Small.
Got Serbian dinner here. It s my first time had Serbian food. The food was literally amazing. The Serbian beer was taste as well. We had good time there.
Lovely & cozy serbian restaurant with great staff and wow food! Their roasted lamb was off the charts
Best food Ive ever had in my life. Now I am currently looking to be adopted into a Serbian family.
We ve been before, so yesterday wasn t our first time. Compared to last June, the food was different in quality. The potatoes weren t salted at all while the meat was mostly too salty with the exception of the chicken meat. The cabbage salad was so salty that we couldn t eat it. Maybe they changed the chef.
You must try the food called U tipci. You also get two fantastic spreads (kajmak and urnebes). Great for breakfast or dinner.
The food is very authentic. However the lighting in the place could be a little brighter and the service could have been a lot better.
We had a lovely experience and the VIP bbq platter was to die for and send me to meat heaven. We felt like we were eating in Europe. Cant wait to go again.
Most amazing place to have dinner!
This is the best restaurant in Canada that offers unique Eastern European food, taste, and service.
Meat, potato, rakia, all my human desires satisfied.
My family and I had dinner here tonight. It was SO good! Really nice people and cozy atmosphere.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. It has been consistently fantastic for almost a decade. Prices have been going up but every dish is a meal for two and cooked to perfection. Anything involving bread, coleslaw, or grilled meat is an I stant winner. Parking: If their lot is full, there is a lot of free street parking across the road.
Friendly family restaurant with great portions, food has a home made taste which is fresh and not overly salty.
Get the viel
One of my favorites. Worth a visit even if its a little out of the way.
Great food, great service... Friendly place and friendly people!
Youll find the most authentic Serbian cuisine here! Will come again always!!
Changing my review. Previously the quality was steadily sliding down with every consecutive visit I made so I avoided coming back for several years. But it looks like theyre back in the saddle. I even asked if they changed their chef/cook and they said yes (apparently it was shortly after my previous visit there). Tenen, treat your current staff well and make sure they never leave; they make killer evap i i You have a happy customer here. Ill be back again this week for sure and Im bringing the hungry posse
This is a great little place. It just happened to be the closest restaurant to an errand we were running, but we were very happy it was. The food was excellent. The service was perfect. The decorations and atmosphere tie it all together.
Got the MVP platter to share, was super tasty and we had left overs to share
Found this place on Google as we were in Burnaby looking for a good place to eat. From outside, you wouldnt be able to guess what the inside looks like. Absolutely lovely old school, cultural Serbian atmosphere. Very cozy and warm. Loved just looking at all the things hanging on the walls. Very special and unique feeling. We ordered the chicken schnitzel and the meat platter for one and tried all the different meats they had. The bread was very nice as well. The schnitzel was great, and i loved the bacon and the sausage they had on the platter. The food was very tasty, good quality and well prepared and the service was verh laid back and respectful. Would love to go back to try their traditional alcohol when it is busy at night time. Highly recommend it for anyone who wants to try some authentic Balkan food.
Great food from former Yugoslavia. Staff is super friendly and wonderful. Whenever we make trip to Vancouver this is a must to go place.
Tenen restaurant is a hidden gem for those seeking a taste of Eastern European cuisine. From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the fantastic ambiance. The warm and inviting decor, along with soothing background music, set the perfect tone for a memorable dining experience. The food at Tenen is nothing short of excellent. I had the pleasure of trying the Chicken Shish Kebab, and it was a flavor explosion. The dish was cooked to perfection, tender, and the sides were fantastic. What truly makes this restaurant stand out is the exceptional service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. Tenen is more than just a restaurant; it s a culinary journey through Eastern Europe. If you appreciate great food, impeccable service, and a fantastic ambiance, I wholeheartedly recommend Tenen restaurant and I ll visit again for sure.
Top quality original dishes from ex-Yugoslavia. Helpful wait staff. You may want to reserve Parking: Parking in front
The food was delicious and service was great! Very friendly and accommodating people. You could tell everything was homemade, even the delicious desserts. I have a Croatian background and had an intimate birthday dinner there with folks who hadn t had our type of food before. There was eight of us that enjoyed our time into the evening, enjoying the wine, and felt at ease there, not being rushed. Everyone especially loved the evapi! Otherwise all of our meals were praised. Definitely will be returning! Hvala i vidimo se!
I was really hoping to impress my parents at this cute family owned restaurant with a cuisine they have never tried before. We went with the waiters suggestion for the MVP platter which was a variety of meat, sausages, pototoes and 2 salads at $109. I instantly regretted it when it came out. The only think they thought was good was the bacon wrapped steak which was seasoned well and not dry. The rest of the meats were overcooked and way too salty. I asked for a bowl of rice but they charged for 2 portions at $12. We didn t even make a dent because it was so heavy. Overall we should ve got individual entrees which they specialized in instead of the meat platter. Everyone enjoyed the buttermilk fritters which was unique like a savoury donut with the homemade cheese.
Loved this place. Food was really good and our server was amazing. Cant wait to go back again.
Authentic Balkan food and experience. They often have live music on weekends. Highly recommend!
Update(Nov. 23). Food is better, service is great. (as always). I love the memorabilia on the wall. So many great things For lovers of ex-Yu food, culture, atmosphere. TBH, food quality is not what it used to be. Hopefully they will improve.
Fantastic food from Balkans. Make sure that you find time to visit this place. Its cozy, but its worth it. Awesome as always
An untapped treasure off Royal Oak & Rumble. Looking for the small shopping plaza next to Chevron. There s parking out front or on the side street. It s a small but cozy place. It was busy. They re open Sunday to Saturday from 10:30 am to 10:30 pm). Ambience: 4/5 Food: 4/5 (Large portions of food! If you love meat, this is THE place for you. They lost a star rating as all 4 dishes were too salty from the Cole slaw to the various types of meat). Unfortunately, we were too full to try the desserts) I had the Njegushki Steak which is pork tenderloin stuffed with prosciutto and smoked gouda cheese wrapped in bacon served with roasted potato & tomato & cucumber. I highly recommend this entrée if you love cheese, prosciutto & meat. Value: 5/5 ($20 - $30 entrees with big portions) Service: 5/5 excellent service. If you re not sure what to order, ask the server for suggestions. Ours made some excellent recommendations.
Absolutely amazing quality food, taste and portion sizes! Will come back and bring friends!
Have come 3 or 4 times and usually order the cabbage rolls. Great tasting, generous portions, and it has that homemade taste we all love, along with ambience of another country. Just a little note: a little too salty but we will still bring our friends and return! Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs
Loved the smoked pork neck.
We went to Tenen on Wednesday and it was packed. No wonder, food and the service are excellent. Definitely we re going back.
So delicious. Highly recommend Definitely going back soon and I recommend making reservations for the weekends Food
I was served someone s old half eaten bread with my chicken schnitzel and all they did was replace the bread. Really didn t have much of an appetite for my meal after that. Made me wonder about the cleanliness of their back kitchen if they were able to let this slide
Great neighborhood spot vibes. Serbian food isn t common but we really enjoyed it.
