Christmas decorations were very cute! Both the environment and the workers really made the vibe a good time. I dropped a piece of meat on my shirt while eating, but the worker noticed fast and gave me a wet wipe without me having to ask! Thanks for the great service.
I didn't know you have to reserve your spot in the line online on their website until the friend told me. So while I waited for her I booked but your spot will be canceled if you're next in line but everyone is not there. It was kinda busy but I am wondering if it is always busy since they have another Big Way around the street. They have a huge selection of meats, seafood, veggies and other hotpot ingredients. It is pay by weight but since it was my first time I got carried away cause I wanted to try many things. I don't eat meat so I just got seafood and veggies. I think you get a complimentary drink I got wintermelon tea but there was also green tea. You tell them what broth you want, I got tom yum and then they will make it while you sit down and wait. They have a sauce station where they have a bunch of sauces. I enjoyed the fish balls, they were really good. I also got noodles but I didn't finish them as I ate everything else. The broth was good but next time I want to try something else. After that you get free ice cream. This flavor was milk tea in a cone.
This was my first time experiencing this style of hot pot, and it was quite unique. You start by selecting your ingredients from an extensive array of options, including sliced meats, processed meatballs, noodles, fresh vegetables, and more. Once you've chosen your items, you weigh them and pay. Next, you select a broth, and the restaurant cooks everything together before serving it to you. While it takes away the interactive fun of cooking it yourself, the end result is undeniably delicious, even if it looks like a big bowl of slop. It's a different approach to hot pot, but one that’s worth trying for the flavour alone. Overall, it was a great experience.
I was coming from out of town and was very excited to try! When we arrived it was VERY busy and quite cramped! But the staff are doing well managing with such a small space. Tons of ingredients to choose from and the broth was delicious! Id definitely go again but maybe on a day that isn't as busy.
Big Way Restaurant, patience truly pays off. We put our name on the waitlist and, after about an hour, were finally seated—but every minute of the wait was worth it! The experience is unique and interactive: you get to select all the ingredients you want to include in your soup, which is then priced based on weight. You can choose from a variety of fresh, high-quality ingredients and pick a flavorful soup base. The best part? They cook it right there and serve it fresh, steaming hot. The result was a bowl of soup that was not only delicious but personalized to perfection. The staff, Daniel Chu was friendly and attentive throughout the process, making the wait feel much shorter. If you're in the mood for a hearty, customizable soup and are willing to wait a bit, Big Way Restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience that's more than worth it!
As long as you are mindful of how much you add to your pot, you will be fine for pricing. There are many delicious items to choose from for your hotpot! Sadly the ice cream machine was not working when we were there but they offered popsicles instead! I also ordered bubbletea which was the perfect compliment to my hotpot. We went at 1145am on a Saturday and it was already quite full! Once lunch rush started at 12pm there was a constant line up grab food and a constant turnover of the tables and seat. I will definitely be back, I love this concept and surprisingly did not miss cooking my own food!
Bit chaotic, but one can get used to it if you are a regular. Definitely woth going here regular if you are craving hot pot. Service has been great most of the time, but I found staff getting impatient at times. Although they can make bigger groups of 8-10 work it can get messy. Best to go on smaller groups. Parking is tough during weekday lunch. Not bad on the weekends.
I recently visited Big Way Hot Pot in Burnaby for the first time, and I have to say, the experience was quite unique and enjoyable. The concept is pretty cool—you're given the freedom to pick your own items, and you're billed by the weight of what you choose. However, it’s easy to get carried away! We ended up selecting a bit more than we anticipated, resulting in a bill of around $100 for two hotpots and a bubble tea. On the other hand, my friends, who were a bit more restrained, managed to keep their meals under $20, with some people even spending under $10. The broth base we chose was the Signature Ma La Tang, which added a nice kick to the hotpot. One of the highlights was the complimentary black tea-flavored ice cream they served at the end of the meal—a pleasant and refreshing way to wrap things up. Overall, the experience was good, and the service was decent. I’d definitely consider going back, but next time, I’ll be more mindful of my selections to keep the bill more reasonable. If you’re looking for a fun and interactive dining experience, Big Way Hot Pot is worth checking out, just be careful not to go overboard!
Tasty
ive been here quite a few times and every single time it does not dissapoint, they have a wide variety of ingredients, all measured by the weight, when you ahve everything you need in your bowl you take it up to the counter and pay, you pick your broth then they bring it to your table, at which point you can get your own sauces and make the hotpot really your own! 100% would reccomend and would suggest a second or third date here as it tells you alot about the person you are dining with and what they like!
The stupidest way to do the reservation. Did it two times. And then when its your turn, you wait in line, and when you get inside, you will figure out that your reservation is CANCELED, and then you wait again
This place is a must here in Vancouver. Very affordable, and very good. The collagen broth is the best in my opinion. Really cool concept, kind of like a hot pot for beginners where all your toppings are cooked for you, and you choose the quantity of each topping. Definitely worth it. Price goes by weight, my pot was about $25 and weighted about 600gr, while my wifes was $15 and was about 350gr. They also give you a free ice cream cone.
Good place to eat. U get to pick what u want to eat. They cook it for u after u choose ur food. The only thing is u think ur picking light weight food but it turns out it is not light weight. When ur picking by weight it can be very expensive for the amount of food u get. Ice cream is really good. U get free ice cream after ur meal. It was really nice.
Great food, great mood
Fun to go for hanging out with friends. Food, I suggest not picking seafood. We got a rotten taste crab
Love it
quick hot pot for good price. Probably the best part of this place is how customizeable it is.
Favourite place, been here like 5 times in the last month. I usually get ma la ta. Really like the newest icecream too. I think the vanilla is better than the green tea.
came here with my boyfriend and sister!! i was kind of skeptical at first when i realized you dont cook everything yourself like at most hot pot places, but i think this is gonna easily become one of my fave hot pot restaurants from now on. i am (mostly) vegetarian so i had mostly just veggies, and i was really excited to see baby corn!! and i loved the selection of mushrooms! my bowl ended up being 24 dollars which was a really good deal in my opinion!! my sister and boyfriend only paid 20! i got the non spicy miso broth and it was pretty good. it wasnt the star of the show or anything but it was still really good!! one thing my boyfriend did say was that he was a little disappointed with the spice level. he got the third most spicy option of the special broth and thought it wasnt spicy enough. he really likes numbing levels of spice so if youre a spice lover, just keep that in mind. i however, am not a spice lover so this wasnt an issue for me, lol. overall i really enjoyed this experience. for the price, the amount of food and the taste was awesome. will definitely be coming back again!! Vegetarian options: many options for veggies and there are vegan broths as well
Very delicious and spicy
Taste the signature malatang,love it
So far my favourite location!
Very delicious
Great customer service experience!
Good food
Delicious
There is good taste and i liked is so much i ll surely visit there again .
Really
Delicious food and well diversified
great and friendly service. Food was fresh, a lot of soup selection. been coming here almost every week
great selection of food, soup broth, and drinks!
Will definitely come back!
Love it!
spicy!!! love getting my big way dry
A place with a lot of people, but it is worth the wait, the ingredient options are very varied, octopus, shrimp, clams, meat, chicken, as well as the vegetables that you can include in your pot, the concept is very attractive, since that you choose the quantity and variety of ingredients, as well as the type of noodles that you will put in your meal, in the end they weigh your choice, you can choose from a wide variety of broths so that after a few minutes, it arrives boiling to your table, the recommended avocado smotie to accompany dinner, in general a highly recommended place, but you have to be patient and wait in the virtual line in their app
Food was good, price is affordable.love the icecream!
So far my favorite big way location!
Only lined up 15 minutes, price is decent
Bigway Hot so good!!
I chose Hot Spicy, but I got totally non-spicy. I dont know how can I eat it. I dont like non-spicy food at home this is why I chose hot pot. Im so disappointed.... Last update I recently ordered green pepper flavor from here through Fantuan at Dec.1st. Unfortunately, as I was finishing my meal, I found a dead fly in the food. This was extremely unpleasant and concerning!!
Updated my review . They ve changed their recipe and made the soups way less spicy. They brought more chili oil and it still wasn t spicy. The food was noticeably more frozen and the ice cream is getting worse. They didn t restock soy sauce, so we just didn t have that the entire time. Go elsewhere
If you have any severe FOOD ALLERGIES, PLEASE BE CAREFUL as there is a lot of cross-contamination with the food. When the staff go to replace the food containers, food falls into other containers and is simply put back into the original containers and not thrown out. Unlike other hot pot places that have cooking elements at the tables, this one doesnt, so your soup cools down quickly, especially since its in a wide bowl. If you can eat a lot, I definitely wouldnt recommend coming here because your bill could get quite high. Im just a petite girl, and I ate $29 worth of hot pot and finished it. I could have gone to Happy Lamb for $32 and had an unlimited amount of food with continuous hot soup. The staff were unable to ask simple questions such as what the soup bases consisted of and what were in the fortune bags. The vanilla ice cream is clearly watered down and should be called a sorbet.
Very delicious. Friendly staff. I will go back
delicious
Came in on a weekend night and the staff was very friendly. One of the employees, Kelley was very attentive and made sure everything we ordered was good. The food came quick and when we finished we didn t even have to ask for ice cream, she came asking us first! Very quick and professional!
5 stars
Everything was great and service wass 100000/10
We ordered this. At least two nights per week. While the noodles are tasty but it is very inconsistent. 3 out of 5 times the noodles are not separated from the soup. By the time it s delivered to us, we are eating swelled up noodles coz they sucked up all the soup. We are family of 4. I cannot count how many times they have the soup and ingredients combination wrong. Worst of it, they never take accountability. No refund, no compensation. So good luck ordering with them. You are paying for orders you didn t want.
I visit there often, and overall, it s great. However, one thing they could improve is the soup quantity. Sometimes, there s so much soup that the ingredients end up floating, making it hard to enjoy. It would be better if they used just enough soup to cover the ingredients, allowing us to savor them without having to dig around. This is just a suggestion, not a complaint. On weekdays, the soup tastes perfect, and the quantity is just right. However, on weekends, the soup tends to be thinner, less flavorful, and overly watery, which affects the overall taste.
Awesome place
We came for happy hour they gave the free drinks to those after us and when we asked them they said oh no more and not even said sorry, and just said oh u not have it. And not even try to fix it. Bad service
Whether I spend $10 or $40 for my bowl, Big Way Hot Pot will always remain one of my absolute favourite places to eat. With the two locations near each other, there isnt a wait for weekday nights.
Thank you so much for Giving us Top Notch Costumer service and Very delicious Food, and special Thanks to esteban our guy who help us with our order, Thank you!
I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional dining experience I had at your establishment. The food was absolutely delicious! Id like to extend special praise to Esteban, your manager. His outstanding leadership, helpfulness, and excellent service truly made our visit memorable. Hes an asset to your team! Thank you again for a wonderful experience. I look forward to visiting again soon and thats for sure.
Very bad experience, we waited in line for half an hour, outside in the chilly wind since it s our first time there. When we finally went inside, we were told that we need to line up again after signing up for a ticket system and wait for 15-20 more minutes. Will never visit again. Service
Fast line up and good service love the icecream
Popular hot pot with plenty of options of meats and vegetables. Complimentary black sesame ice cream after meal. Friendly service
There was an issue with my order and Kelly was excellent at handling the issue. Amazing service
The food is good but the staff needs to trained to listen more and let the customer talk. They suggest according to their feelings but not what the customer wants. I wanted a table where I could be away from cold and sit peacefully in a corner but was told and I quote I believe this is the best table for you come to find out they gave the table I wanted to thier friends. Please fix this or else youll customers even if you have good food
Food is pricey for what you get, service is okay. There s a big wait line for peak hours, most young people go there. Food
Food and staff is amazing, I would give 5 star but the amount of fruit flies is insane, walls covered and id rathernot have to fight bugs for my food. But other then that its my favorite spot to eat.
Place is ran by kids, we got soup spilled and splashed over our shirts while waitress was taking stuff away unfortunately Pretty interesting selection of food, reasonable prices.
Me and my Girlfriend went and we had some implications with the food. The manager Kelley went above and beyond what was expected in terms of service and gladly compensated us for the inconvenience. Hands down very appreciative of the service she gave us.
Pay by weight. Pick your own food and they will cook it for you. There is a variety of meats and vegetables to pick from.
Soup was good for the price, you only pay for what you get. However wait time is long, place is crowded
I went there for dinner tonight, when I entered, I was greeted by this wonderful girl May with a big smile. This was my first time dinning over there and I was a bit confused like how it works, she explained everything and overall made the experience 10 times better.
I ve always loved Big way, especially on stressful days, as your big way hot malatang have been a go to food for me until yesterday. I ordered my usual (No.1, big way hot) but immediately noticed it was not as spicy as usual and kinda have strong soy sauce taste. Asked the server, she explained they recently changed their chili oil. The first picture attached is from yesterday, and second is before they change the oil. You can clearly see the difference. It s so disappointing I lost my favourite restaurant. PLEASE CONSIDER SWITCHING BACK TO THE ORIGINAL RECIPE!
Service was amazing! Daniel served me and my friends extremely well, he served us water, food, the bill, and ice cream in a timely manner. I highly recommend going here at night time when he s working!
Terrible waiting list system. Half the tables are empty but they decided not to let us in and wait for the numbers that might never show up.
HORRIBLE FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE I ordered off from uber eats and they gave me the wrong order. I ordered two malatang (hot and medium) and they switched up the spice level between the two broths. The hot spicy was more yellow color and had almost no oil on it, while the medium looked more red and spicy (also the broth portion was so smaller compared to the hot spicy one). I called the restaurant to check if it was a mistake but they never ADMITTED nor APOLOGIZED it until i told them multiple times that its not the matter of the system change in broth spice level. And even if it was the change in system, they shouldve still apologized (which they never did). I knew that they were just coming up with only EXCUSES and they never apologized until the end. From the picture you can obviously tell that the color looks way too different and completely the opposite of what it should be originally. Also the portion listed on uber is not accurate, so once again horrible service overall.
they switch up 3 broths and didnt even apologize and the broths were extremely bland. Later my friend and I got simple milk teas which took 27 minutes to come out. Their 2 minutes became 10 minutes. Terrible taste, extremely long wait time, and mid service. Burnaby bigway is cooked
The food is ok. Doesnt stand out as much of the hype it generates. Long line up like its crazy. After lining up for about an hour, my expectations were quite high but unfortunately didnt live up to the hype.
Great value, eat your fill, without paying the ayce prices, soup bases are great, can t ask for more
I ate Dawei Malatang here at 12 noon, and I kept having diarrhea after 5 oclock.
Received gift card for my birthday that was purchased on September 12, 2024. Went to use it at Robson location (September 26), did not work. Asked to pay for my meal this time which I did. Took my information (name, phone number, email) said they will be in touch within 2-3 days. Heard nothing from them. Went to Big way Ackroyd location (September 28), same thing, showed them the proof of purchase, took my information, (name, email, phone number) saying that I might have to go to the Burnaby location since it was purchased from there and they ll be in touch soon. Again, paid for my meal when I had my gift card that was apparently NOT working just to never hear from them again. Went to Bigway again on October 15. But this time we went to the location that this gift card was originally purchased. Again, the gift card did not go through. Showed them the receipt, same thing all over again. They said they ll go through but couldn t find this transaction. Like are you kidding? Had to pay for my meal again and at this point I was PISSED. You guys never contacted me after I give out my info SINCE SEPTEMBER and for me, it seems like you guys don t even care to fix this issue. This is really annoying as a customer and I am sick of spending my money instead of gift card that I was gifted. This is absolutely ridiculous. Also, don t write oh, email us @bigway instead, you guys reach me out FIRST with my informations I gave to your staffs.
I don t think no restaurant should ever make their customers wait for ~2 hours! You should not market your product and have customers sacrificed. Fix your system, Big Way. I don t care how good your food is, you are not being reasonable for your service to people.
One of my favorite places to eat sea food in Vancouver Vegetarian options: They have a lot. Food : 5/5 |
Ask for yermin, shes amazing at helping with menu, orders and table services, very polite and fast responding. The food is same old taste and options. Need something new like more veg and fish options.
The staff were friendly and attentive, and the spicy dry mix was delicious The entire meal was great. I ve tried other places before, but this one stands out for its outstanding quality, welcoming atmosphere, and taste. I ll definitely be returning and recommending it to friends.
Thank you big way hot pot.The food was so delicious. Not only was the food delicious but the service was great as well.I will come back for sure
I visited Tuesday night, and I was impressed with the friendly staff and excellent customer service. The signature malatang exceeded my expectations. The environment was welcoming. I highly recommend this place if you re looking for self picked ingredients hot soup. I ll definitely be returning soon!
I recently dined at this restaurant, and I was impressed! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The ingredients were fresh. Everyone need to have a try
The hot pot was a true delight, with a rich, flavorful broth and fresh ingredients. The tender beef and crisp vegetables cooked perfectly in the bubbling pot, and the variety of dipping sauces added the perfect finishing touch. Our server, Kelly L., was exceptional! She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped us choose the ideal broth and made sure our experience was flawless, refilling broths and checking in to ensure everything was cooked to perfection. It was an unforgettable dining experience, thanks in large part to Kellys outstanding service.
This place is amazing, affordable and so good. The workers are extremely nice and I keep going back to eat there with my friends.
Although the malatang at Bigway Hotpot didn t meet our expectations, Kelley C made sure our experience was memorable with exceptional service. Even without the spice we were hoping for, Kelley ensured we felt like valued customers on our first visit. We ll definitely give Bigway another try once they bring back the chili they used to add to the malatang.
This is legit malatang!! Love the broth -- good flavoring with aromatic spiciness!! Love how it offers boba drink menu which is a perfect combo for malatang personally. Attentive and friendly service :) Its my go-to spot for malatang and Ive been recommending to my friends/family which theyre all addicted to as well ^^
Great food and service at this location around the corner! We didn t feel rushed and the seating felt better as well, service was great as well. Thanks big way team
Vegetarian options: Very limited, the bowls are always greasy and the staff are never avaliable Food
Great hot pot, good ice cream, fast seating
I headed here during a stat holiday with a group of 3 to try it out the first time. As expected, waiting was long. We came to this location cuz the waitlist was the shortest-a bit over an hour at #48. We got called to be ready to be seated at place #10 and it seems to work out with the amount of time you need to pick the food, pay, then sit down there was already a table opened up. The choosing your own ingredients part is pretty self explanatory.. and after looking at the results, it seems like it s about $5-6 per 100 grams of food. Seems reasonable? Anyhow, the soup bases don t really come with too much flavour itself. My husband got the Malat one and it s not spicy enough. It s good they have a seasoning station so just add more flavour yourself. My pot came out luke warm instead of steaming hot soup for some reason. I got my pot back first so didn t realize a difference until seeing others came, and I already had eaten 1/3 of my food.. I was mindful of the price so ended up paying less than $10 for my pot (includes tips). Picked a noodle and several others. But at this price range the selections of ingredients I picked became very limited so it s really up to how much you want to eat and spend. I do believe we can make it better at home though lol. The place is quite packed itself. Either I was gently scraping through people s chairs/tables when picking the food or when the waiters swish through to deliver the pots. We sat down for 20-25 mins. Overall, just need to be smart to get in the waitlist ahead of time, turn over is high and it can be a simple place for a quick meal.
Food was great, had lots of variety which was great and I could choose what ever I wanted. waiting for a spot was around 30-60 minutes, food came around $20 and it made me full. Definitely a very busy place and really difficult to pass through tables as it was very close to each other. Line ups were insane as well but not a huge disaster. Overall 8.3/10 Atmosphere -1.0 Waiting -0.7
Good
delicious soup bases and great service, wait just a bit long tho
I m absolutely disappointed in my recent few visits. As a regular, I ve always stuck to one choice of soup base and spicy level: Mala Tang Mild. Over the past few months, their spicy level has been overly inconsistent especially at this location. It was getting less spicy and more salty. Last night I ordered my usual mild mala tang soup and it came out with absolutely no spiciness at all, I almost thought that the kitchen gave me a miso broth by accident. When I asked the server she said she will make it more spicy for me and brought the pot back out. While it had a tiny bit more kick than the previous one, it was still very very mild. I m not talking about ordering it mild and getting it mild, I m talking about getting my usual flavour and spiciness that I was used to. Here are two comparisons of the soups I got: first one is from last night and second one is from 6 months ago. My dining companion usually gets a medium and his was as mild as mine and I no longer have faith that I will get what I want if I were to revisit.
OG is the best Especially manager Kelly Liu served us so well Food
An awesome play to eat as a family Reasonable price and diversified foods!
The quality has gone down so much. All the ingredients are mixed, Sauce table is messy and the worst part was the broth. It was watery and missing flavor. We used to come here at least once a week but there s no reason to come here anymore.
The food was 11/10. I would recommend you to try tomato spicy dry mix. And the staffs were so friendly too. I will definitely go back again.
The service is great and you could get a LOT of things for $20 or even less You also get free ice cream and guava candy at the end.
Great food, Great staff!!!
Well organized and the environment is comfortable. Kelly Liu the best.
Kelly s service is super friendly! My favorite place to visit before weekly camping. A great way to warm up the body.
Fresh food, enthusiastic service, its a great place to dine with friends.
usually never had a problem with bigway. love them actually, but today is 1pm we came in and it was not busy at all. got our food pretty quickly. but once we were done our food we were kept waiting for 10 minutes for a server to take our dishes and offer us ice cream but no one came. so we just got up and left
Theres bugs in the takeout order
Food was decent. Service was okay. The waitress lied and said she will add our points to our account and she didn t! We spent over $100! Definitely will not go and support the restaurant again.
Honestly go somewhere else. The food is good however the service in terms of waiting list needs to be improved. We waited over an hour for a table and were told it would be another hour. Not only are you waiting for your turn you also have to find your own table to be seated at. I understand the idea of build your own hot pot but not worth your time or money. The text dont inform you how long your waiting for. Workers can give you an estimate but thats not accurate.
Dont like the pricing...pricing is not transparent and as per me being an Indian I am not much excited about this place. Same tongs are used for non veg first and then in vegetables as well. Non veg and veg gets mixed up really bad. I hate this...no respect for vegans. Vegetarian options: Dont go if you are particular about not eating non veg coz here you are indirectly eating non veg
Ive Been here a lot of times its a very famous and good hot pot I love how one of the servants gave me a chopsticks kindly so did Katie or Kate forgot her name but they all clean the table ASAP which is good I love that but the one thing I didnt like is they gave me less pearls BUTS ITS OK because the food was sooooo delicious I loved it thank you to all the staffs and chefs for all there hard work that there care id love to come back!
I m addicted to it right now, can t get sleep without it
Very tasty hot pots. Staff and service, both are amazing.
The food really amazing
I love the employees i hope they marry me. I love the food i hope they marry me. I love this place i hope it marries me
It s generally fresh and tasty with the self served dipping sauce. I regretted taking too many pieces of different fish balls. It was a long wait in the small tight area at the front for a larger group, and then another lining up to pick the ingredients and pay for the food. Space is too small to dine in with young families; they don t even have kids utensils. Ice cream at the end of the meal is the highlight.
Warning ! My husband and I got a stomach the first time we ate here and thought maybe it was a one off. I gave it another chance tonight with a friend. It was ok when we were there but after driving home we both got so sick and have been vomitting repeatedly since. We re both pretty disgusted and angry at this point we re ready to call health inspection. I don t know how they re storing their food but this is unacceptable. We both spoke with other friends separately about this and they too said they were very sick after eating there. One of them is pregnant too ! This is VERY dangerous if multiple people on separate occasions are all getting violently sick they are vommiting.
The broth was very salty! Me and my friends ordered 2 types of broth and they were so salty we could not even finish the broth! Food
Noodles were undercooked and they gave very little broth. The manager kept rolling her eyes on me with almost every interaction.
The manager is always smiling
Always a great time at Big Way. Great selection of ingredients. Love the lunch deals with free drink!
VERYYY BAD SERVICES !!! I order from uber and i order 2 soup with noodle.. i dont they already change the rules.. and they mix the noodle.. they dont write the note at uber menu.. once its arrived, the soup already absorb with noodle.. and the noodle become sooo soggyy soft.. we even cant eat them !! I call them and they just say SORRY so funny! They only offer $10 refund.. what ?!! Is this your services ? Is this how you treat the customer ? Your rules not working.. you know when you mix noodle with really hot soup, they absorb the soup ?? Can you imagine how it taste ? Do you think it come to my home right away ??? Its need to be delivered!! Its not 5 or 10 mins delivered !! How bad you guys.. at this point i so dissaponted !! One more, i never know theres restauranr delivery noodle with soup together.. just you guys.. and you guys dont want know customer pain.. you guys just say its changes... i just love your food its tastes good but how you treat customer like this way.. naahh.. thanks for your bad services... at the photo im try to seperate them but see the noodle already bad.. and just little soup..
I ordered number 1 and it was really delicious!! I added egg noodles and it was the best!! Ill be back soon
I went to this location last night after 11pm. My bf and I were craving for late-night snacks. The casher and server were very kind! I definitely go back for another night. Compared to other big way locations, it looks little bit old and small.
Most staff in Burnaby branch are so friendly everytime I visit. Esp a man staff named Konita (or Kotani) welcomed us so nicely by the time we walked in today. Thank you for your nice customer service. I am pretty sure that he is a good asset of the branch. Food
Fantastic food ! My favourite place
Dont come to this location with a larger party. The staff does not appear to communicate and kept seating other tables while our group waited for 30+ min while we were 1st place in line (on the online queue) outside in 5°c weather. We did not dine here in the end.
Long wait
the food is good but the restaurant looks a bit dirty
yumm i love the signature and tomato broth
A real cool spot where you get to try some cool items and the experience of throwing food in a bowl and then eating it is unmatched. The wait time is a bit long tho. The free ice cream is cool. I havent been able to find matcha that tastes like Japan matcha
Decent but pretty pricey
The food here is amazing! I especially love the coconut green curry soup. But the water always tastes funny, I ve been here multiple times and every single time the water has tasted off despite having lemon/lime in it. Food : 4/5
went here today and it was wonderful. the wait may be long but it was worth it with the free ice cream at the end. but i would tell you guys to get a reservation ahead of time because the wait was soso long. overall food and workers were so nice and kind!
Very delicious
Delicious and speedy
Are you guys kidding me? Theres a problem with this restaurant I ordered it again because I got the wrong order They didnt give it away I ordered food twice, but it didnt come to me twice No rice No fish This is something that a particular employee didnt intentionally give The owner of this restaurant needs to find who the server is
I get the hype. I didn t want to believe it. But they re right. Best affordable hot pot spot in the Lower Mainland - I hate labelling places as such but other hot pot places don t come close in terms of value. Is it absolutely busy as hell? Yes. It s a MUST to check in online and be put on the wait list. For reference, we were ~#45 on the wait list around 7PM on a weekday, and it took about an hour and a half before it was our turn. It can be overstimulating inside once the restaurant is full, as it is quite squished with a lot of things moving around you. In terms of hot pot options, you are quite limited in the meat selections, but they definitely hit all the basics with the meat, vegetables, broths and sauces. If you wanted to explore more out there cuts of meat, this may not be the place. But if you want a cheap, extremely tasty and filling meal, this is definitely the spot. Everything is priced by weight. They hand you a bowl, and you fill it at the bar. Then you bring it to the register, let them know what broth you like and pay for your meal. Then you ll sit at a table and wait for your bowl to come back out all cooked and ready to eat! I got the tomato broth with no noodles, minimal veggies, but about 10+ rolls of beef, and it came to about $15 for the bowl! Parking: Paid street parking is available nearby. After 8PM, parking is free.
Big Way, more like Big WEIGH AHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA XD LOL Ya pretty good. No forks but you get to weigh food. Dont get the quail eggs (this is the #1 mistake I see small ways make when they come the first time, they load up on quail eggs which arent good value for their way-t (like a weight). Big ways like me know you go for the rib eye and lamb rolls first).
Everything okay especially for service was bestttt!!!!
Every single time I come to this location, the service is abysmal. Lack of engagement from staff and the wait times are incredibly long. Although the text message states that the table is Ready in 5 Minutes , we are always forced to wait an additional 10-20 minutes in by the washroom corridor after payment. Today, we waited an extra 10 minutes by the washroom corridor after paying before . Then another 20 minutes before the food was served. Big fan of the food but not how it s ran operationally.
Good food! Busy everyday Best bang for your buck Food
The lady Lin W is so warm. Love her service!!!! She deserves a bonus
I came here with a group of seven and they were able to accommodate us quite well. If you are going to come to bigway please make sure you join their waitlist on their website. When we got there we were already on the wait list however if we had not joined 30 mins earlier there would have been 90+ groups ahead of us. Only complaint would be wait time in general. As I mentioned we joined the waitlist 30 mins before arriving and still had to wait about 25 mins once we arrived. The food was really tasty. I had the miso broth with various ingredients. My total was $25 with a bubble tea. Not terrible value for hot pot at all. Much better than haidliao. I left feeling full and satisfied with my experience. I would go back in the future.
Busy! But worth the business and the wait. Food is affordable and very good, staff are very accommodating and try their best to keep up with the rush. Most definitely will be back. I did have to wait a while for my bubble tea but i excused it as they were very busy. Overall a great experience and I can t wait to come back. Ice cream was great too!
Cancelled our reservation when we were the front of line, then let 5-10 groups ahead of us, didn t apologize or anything, the sauces were all unlabelled and they were out of some meats, my worst experience here by far
This is our new found favorite hotpot go-to. I never knew it was that popular until I saw how the queues outside during peak hours. I got curious and tried their happy hour with free drinks and matcha ice cream. The selection is huge and impressive. I tried seafood mostly and a little bit of greens abs noodles, then chose their most popular broth #1 medium spicy. It was the perfect hotpot I have ever tried. I am a ramen person but this can easily beat my favorite ramen in downtown. The season is getting colder. Im glad I found this gem right before Fall started. I came back in less than a week. Lol.
Malatang and Malahyanggu are the main menu items (of course, there are several types to choose from). And free drinks are also provided. The characteristic is that all food ingredients, including meat and vegetables, are priced at the same price. If you like spicy food, I recommend the signature malatang.
The service provided to me by Irene and the rest of the staff has definitely made my experience at Big Way amazing. My bowl got mixed up and lost during the cooking process so I was given the wrong bowl. But I told the staff about it and they were very kind! Irene, who I assume is the manager, allowed me to remake my bowl with no extra cost. On top of that, she offered me a free drink! The service provided here was top-notch as after we were done, I was given a voucher for a free drink to use the next time I come. Irene really took the time to ensure that I was provided with good service and she went beyond that! I really appreciate the service provided to me today as it showed their care for their guests! I already loved Big Way but this was a memorable experience that added to my liking of Big Way!
Bad experience!!! Waiting in the 9th position for 30 minutes+ with no movement. that s not the issue, I can wait but suddenly received a notification that its my turn but the waiting list is still 9th (even i refresh every few minutes) Upon arrived the shop, multiple people (more than 10) received notifications at the same time, causing crowding at the entrance! Took over 10 minutes just to enter the shop. An additional 15 minutes waiting to pick up food and payment due to understaffed cashiers. Food, particularly the slices, was not fresh. Cashier spoke unclearly, making it difficult to understand. The shop was overcrowded, with poor air conditioning and ventilation, making it uncomfortable for customers.
You are right, but you did not consider the force-bearing area of the electric fan switch, so no matter whether it is sunny or rainy, Big Big Wolf will go to Yangcun to catch sheep. Even though Tom is always bullied by Jack, SpongeBob still likes to call him Pie. Big Star goes to catch jellyfish. Cant these well-founded things be handed over to Sheriff Black Cat to testify in court? So why are there small flying insects in the dishes? There are lemon stickers in the water, and it turns out that lemons really have the original flavor.
My husband and I have been to Big Way at least 1-2 times a week since we first tried it a month ago. it is more affordable than our usual hot pot place or our other sit-down restaurant options. The main thing is the choice we get to decide exactly what we want to eat. No fillers like cabbage taking up half the bowl. The trick to getting a bowl around $20ish is no noodles or picking very light noodles and flinging off excess water. I usually do 10 shrimp, 10-15 pieces of meat, 2 unshelled mussels, 3 wood ear mushroom, few bunches of enoki mushroom to replace noodles, and a few small spinach leaves. I sometimes add or take off some items. My lowest bowl with this combo is $18, highest $22. No noodles, just enoki mushrooms as replacement. I really like their laksa broth altho that is limited time. I also like the Sa Cha broth on the regular menu. I like that you can get loyalty rewards for like $10 off and that you prepay for the meal. It feels nice just asking for ice cream at the end and then leaving when ready. You also get complimentary lemon water and free sauce bar. Unfortunately, it appears that only the other Kingsway location does a free lunch drink. The setting arrangement is a bit better at this Kingsway location, tho with better spacing between tables. This concept of hot pot (picking your own ingredients) IS NOT allergy friendly as there is tons of cross contamination and I would not recommend for people with severe allergies. Street parking only.
Not the best, bad prices, but however friendly staffs
Great service from sherina, she was very friendly and she had pretty smile. waitlist no need to wait a long time, great food and fresh ingredients. for Sherina
our hotpots came out to be $9 and $11. surprisingly filling and the matcha ice cream was delicious
I ordered Big way spicy spicy soup base. I havent tasted such spicy and satisfying food in a long time. The clerk was very attentive and gave us each an ice cream even though there was a lot of people and we only ordered one pot to take away. Except its a little pricey, everything else is great!
Exellent hot pot and good deal. Happy hour on lunch Time for drink melon and green tea plus Water and free ice cream
Great service! Somehow my soup got mixed up by the kitchen, as they put my husbands spicy soup broth into my soup and my tomato broth into his. The staff were so accommodating, they let us remake our bowls with whatever we wanted, and let us keep the mistake soup, offered us free bubble tea, and apologized multiple time throughout our meal. Definitely recommend for the tasty food and great service.
Food Is yummy, careful with the meats as you pay by weight. Would go back.
The tofu has gone bad and tasted bitter. The staff also accidentally splashed dirty oil into my bowl. Very bad experience
The food lock delicious but with Uber eats delivers are the worst
We ordered different hotpots. Mine was no.1 Signature I tasted mime at first I felt it was ok. Then the worst experience happened when my friend fetched me the sauce which I know it was very hot. Once I tried this sauce with some food (veggie and squid) I felt like it was hot in my month, kind of super mint chewing gum. It was not that bad then I went on the food then I felt suddenly everything was so salty. Everything. So salty. I tried others friends food and felt the same. It was so strange taste that I never ever experienced. It was feeling like there is a burn in area of upper mouth, the teeth gum and the tongue. And awful salty of any food even the drink salty and strange. And I asked my friend they all said the food was ok, not salty. And I remembered it was not salty at the beginning. I came conclusion at the hot sauce was the cause of the issue. I presumed you used some kind of substance or what that not nature so that it was so irritated and actually so scared to me. Luckily aftermath was nothing more when I drink some fresh water. I hoped you can learnt something from my experience.
Good
Really good
I love Malatang, and this restaurant has its own signature menu. This won t disappoint you. You have to pick ingredients into your own pot, and the rate is upon the weight. They also serve bubble teas. Servers are very kind, and the place is very clean. There is free ice cream at the end. This is my go-to Malatang store!
no squeeze guards in the food area? wheres the health dept?
They used to be based on the weight of the food you grabbed.... Now they charge you minimum 1lb and its not stated clearly in the store or on their website
Great quality meats. Bit tight on space but excellent service. Free drink and ice cream.

Im a regular at Bigway and everytime my experience is great, the food is good all the time and the employees are very accommodating and understanding. However, this one time I went to Bigway, I had a large party seated and everything was all on one bill coming to a total of over $160. The cashier asked me if I had a membership and I replied yes and punched in my phone number as usual. The screen that pops up after punching in my number would be my name, the points accumulated and any $$$ off if I use my points to redeem. But in this case, I had 100 points to start with and with my bill added, it should be around 260 points but it wasnt and it just stayed the same. I couldve said something but the cashier was in a rush and immediately made me pay the bill. All the employees were in a rush and everything was busy which is the usual at Bigway so I thought it would take some time for the points to show up on the screen but this was not the case and my points didnt show up on my receipt as well. I was a little disappointed because I dont recall the cashier asking if everything is correct on my membership but they only asked if it was correct when they asked if the order was right since there was about 7 of us. I feel that the cashier should slow down when adding our points to our membership otherwise this would defeat the purpose of having one. The floor/shift manager or someone more experienced should be on cashier to oversee any errors. Like what is the point of having a membership if my points wont even be added? I spent over $160 which couldve given me a discount to my bill if I were to redeem it!
