Boiling Point is the leading provider of Taiwanese Hot Soup with a specialty in individualized portions made with the freshest ingredients possible. Though the concept of our soups originated in Taiwan, we have since expanded our menu to include international flavors in hopes of introducing our food to a wider audience. Our menu also features a variety of appetizers, drinks, and desserts.
Fun and unique hot pot establishment on Kingsway. Good value and tasty, with quality ingredients. One caveat is that this place TRULY embraces the idea that your pot better be hot and STAY hot... there is no dial to change or turn off the heat on the heating element below your bowl so you're in for it once its lit. That said, some welcome comfort food for the winter, and the portions are quite big. Recommend going for the double meat as it still runs you under $30 with tip which is good value in this day and age.
It's been a few years since I've been to boiling point. It did not disappoint. There was a lineup when I get there, as usual. It went by fast which was good! The service was great. The food was tasty as I remembered it. And it was nice to see them so busy. I'll definitely come back more often as it's getting colder.
This used to be my wife and I's go to place for hot pot for many years. It has been busy for us plus so many new places to try out so we come here couple times a year. Food quality and amount here has been always good and always consistent. Their wintrmelon drink that comes with the meal is my favorite, not too sweet and hits the spot after the meal is done. I was surprised that the place was at 30% capacity at 12:30pm on a Tuesday. It used to be always so busy. I'm guessing the new Hot Pot places with their all you can eat experience is taking over. I still like Boiling Point overall for that quick service and convenient lunch. $44 before tax for the both of is still considered a good deal!
Restaurant that I've lived in Vancouver more than 10 times. The hottest level among Koreans is not spicy at all. If there's an ingredient you don't like, it's good to take it out. But I don't recommend the drink because it's too sweet.
Boiling Point is a staple of the Vancouver food scene for hot pot, well known for serving over an open flame to keep the soup, as the name says, boiling hot! The food is great with generous portion sizes. The beef hot pot had a fragrant broth with a healthy amount of meat. You have an option of rice or vermicelli. With recent price increases, you pay between $22-$26 per dish for dinner before tax. Of note, they do not accept AMEX. The servers come by often to provide additional broth as needed. The service generally is attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere of this location is a bit drab with minimal decor to go with the concrete floors. Despite the name, it doesn’t exude a warm environment. Overall, this remains a great place to get a hot bowl of your favourite hot pot and spend time with friends.
Average solo hotpot. The ingredients are pretty simple and are not freshly made. Lots of Chinese like it but it’s a bit overpriced in my opinion. Hence 3 stars
We ate here for dinner on a cold rainy day. There was an abundance of fresh vegetables and the soft-boiled egg oozing its yolk over the hearty soup really hit the spot. Our favourite was the mushroom broth, which was simple, light and easy to eat. There is a generous portion but we found the lighter broth meant we were able to entirely finish both pots.
Usually I don't see my mom finishing a whole plate or bowl by herself, but here she does! I'm very glad I took my mom here for Mother's Day! We've gone to many fine dining and premium casual restaurants for special occasions, but this time I wanted something different - a venue that's more chill and casual...and not Canadian/European for a change. 😋 She got the seafood hot pot and I had the house special hot pot. The house special never disappoints! It was kept hot all the way to the end. They had a 2-for-1 drink special, and of course we had to get the black tea. For the portions you get, it's very good value. I did have to signal to the waitress to take our orders because it was taking a while for someone to come, but it was smooth sailing after that. When the restaurant's full and you have to wait for a table, you can grab a number from their iPad at the entrance.
After eating and going home, I vomited all night Others said before that they didn t believe it and they spent their own money to suffer the consequences. Please be careful when sharing this with everyone to avoid lightning!
We were seated at the back of the restaurant and waited for over 15 minutes before anyone came to take our orders. The servers were quite rude and unkind to us. I understand that it can be busy, but I believe theres no excuse for treating customers that way. This location is my favorite place for hot pot, but I dont think I would recommend it to my friends or return again
Excellent food and great service!
Spicy Taiwan is awesome. Also had lamb appetizer.
Taiwan Spicy is awesome
On November 25th, before 7 PM, the male server displayed a very poor attitude, with an expression of disdain. He is not suitable for this job and is advised to consider a career change as soon as possible
As a Taiwanese, certified hotpot If you really like spicy, must try taiwanese spicy
Be careful not to eat instant noodles that are too oily and smell too bad, as the tomatoes are also smelly and sour. Overall unpalatable
Very nice broth and not bad value if you share 1 and then just do add ons
Individual hotpot, really good value about 15-18 dollars for set meal for yourself, comes with 3 rice refills, I go here pretty often for any hotpot craving, instead of going to an ayce restaurant
The stinky tofu is stinky and tastes like goat. But the other soups tasted great
Yet another great hotpot place in Burnaby. Green tea was noteworthy.
Food was trash! No taste or anything! Also, do not visit this place in a group since they dont split the bill!
So I go here pretty frequently so I entered the $50 giveaway coupon and not that I am complaining but they should be more clear about the conditions because I did win the $50 and I went there spent $25. The coupon was on the app so I thought i would be able to spend the whole $50 from time to time. Yet after I spent $25 the rest of the money disappeared. I thought it was just a malfunction so I went there to eat again and I said hey my coupon is gone and I had only spent $25 then they had told me once you use the coupon you can t use it again, even if it s under $50. I was pretty frustrated but I let it pass, they gave me a free drink. But they should be more clear about how I can spend the coupon. It did not say on the app I could only use it once and they did not inform me when they called to let me know I won the coupon.
Both my friend and I had their #4 beef hotpot It was pretty spicy I really disliked the rice that this place serves and that s the major negative point about eating here Otherwise the portion of the hotpot stuff is varied and pretty good
Im a loyal customer and usually come for hotpot. Normally, I dont write complaints, but the female staff member, probably named Terra was impolite and provided the one of the worst catering experience Ive ever had. I simply made a polite request regarding my order in probably last weeks - month. As a normal customer, I shouldnt receive negativity and poor responses, regardless of what youre going through that date. really selfish.
Taste of food was superior . Would come again for sure.
My favorite dish is beef and Taiwanese spicy hot pot. Good portion
This time was the worse experience ever. The male server laughed when I didnt hear the winter melon tea clearly... I first used chinese to order, but the male server said he doesnt speak chinese, so I used English and said one miso(and have to repeat once when he cant hear clearly too). Then he asked me about the drinks, I didnt hear him clearly. So i asked him to repeat the choices one more time. Dont know why he laughed Cause its not fun at all. The music inside is loud and i cant hear him clearly, on the menu they didnt also specify the choice of the drink so I need to verify with him. They should train their staffs much better, too bad that because of him they didnt have any tips today.
The waitress who took the meal was very unfriendly.
The foods is good and the staff is great. The atmosphere is, however, terrible. Flys everywhere.. super tight and small tables, super stuffy, poor ventilation, washrooms are dirty and smelly I m not sure if this is also a reflection of their kitchen. But seriously, management is definitely lacking and if not, they have serious issues with how hygienic thing are
Better then Bigway, usually get the beef Now they have the meat lover for extra six dollars. Was not too busy at 10pm Food
As loyal customers who have dined at this restaurant more than 20 times, me and my family can say that we truly enjoy their food. However, today s experience was extremely disappointing. I placed a takeout order over the phone, which totaled $62.48 (rounded to $62.50). My 11-year-old went to pick up the order, bringing $65.50 and placing it on the Payment Tray. The correct change should have been $3, but only $2.50 was returned. Despite the heavy rain, my child made two trips back to inform the staff about the shortage. Unfortunately, the staff claimed they couldn t remember receiving the full amount, and my child returned empty-handed. At this point, me and my girl all were feeling very frustrated. When I called the restaurant myself, they changed their explanation, saying they assumed the missing change was a tip. This process is completely incorrect. All change should be returned to the tray, allowing the customer to decide whether or not to leave a tip. To retrieve two coins, I was asked to make a third trip back in the cold, hungry, and rainy weather, which was simply too much. Additionally, during the phone call, the staff s tone showed no sign of apology for the inconvenience caused, nor did they acknowledge any fault. Instead, I was met with rude and impatience, which only added to my frustration. I won t make a third trip for a small amount of change, but it is still my money, and the decision on whether it serves as a tip should be left to the customer. What should have been a moment to enjoy delicious food turned into a disheartening experience that ruined our appetite. I sincerely hope that the management can address this situation and improve the service.
BEWARE!!!! Don t come here because the staff are not good. They don t know how to communicate and apologize because our order took so long for like ( 30mins) also the beef soup that they serve has a hair on it. Staff are rude and don t know how to treat their customer right. Overall experience is very bad.
Service tried their best. But told them my allergies to fish. And they messed up first order with fish tofu. Asked them to triple check again for a second order. But their lobster ball definitely has fish in it. They were unaware and only gave 20% off instead of comping meal which I hate 2 bites before realizing. Did not admit to messing up order still. Disappointing.
Yummy and filling but the price is def a bit higher than other hot pot places in the area. Also the wait times are not as long so I like that!
I had a disappointing experience at your establishment recently. My friend and I were looking forward to the hotpot, but the broth was unexpectedly bland and overly spicy. We requested additional sauce to improve the flavor. After that, When we needed more broth, Sharpay (her name)brought a kettle but accidentally spilled hot water on our table. She did not apologize for the mishap and simply went back to the kitchen. When we asked her to clean up the spill, she said one second but took another table instead of addressing the issue immediately. It took about 10 minutes for her to return and clean up. The lack of prompt attention and courtesy was frustrating and marred an otherwise enjoyable meal.
Pretty average hotpot but a tad expensive for the price. They have double meat now which is amazing! The only thing that brings this down is that they sometimes dont have my favorite soup and their so busy and swamped that customer service is a bit lacking.
I thought it was not cooked well? But the color is weird...
Richmond one is much better. Have visited here twice but disappointed. Seafood (shrimp and fish) is not fresh, tasted bad, and the meat was all sticked together Parking is also a problem.
I had a disappointing experience with your customer service, maybe failed customer service. I found a piece of plastic in my soup and alerted the server, Sharpay. Instead of addressing my concern, she asked, Is there any problem with this? While it may not seem like a big deal to her, it was for me. A simple apology could have diffused the situation. We re not reporting hazards for a free meal; this shouldn t be in our food. Additionally, when we requested a jello for our child before settling the bill, we were told it could only be served with the bill. I m surprised by the lack of flexibility in your policy. She mentioned she couldn t be nice because it was busy. If that s the case, perhaps working on busy days isn t ideal.
Very tasty and good service.
Do not eat at this place unless you want food poisoning!! Went last week for dinner and ordered the Thai tomato pot. After I went home that night, started vomiting and having diarrhea for hours, then had a fever the next day. Will never return to this restaurant. Please stay away from this place.
My favourite take out restaurant. Always order house special, beef, Taiwanese spicy, lamb and mushroom pots. I like take out better because I could cook longer and make sure food is soft. For dine in, pots are cooked by different people and we cannot expect the same flavours and the same cooked time. After double meat and rice, we do not need to put other food in it. Service is not stable too. There is always training people. Some new servers even have bad attitude. Too high tips. First level of tips is 18%. Well there is no service except basic routines. Sauce. It was so terrible when I had sauce before and it went mold and tasted awful. After that, I never eat anything kept in normal temperature here and in other restaurants for my own health. Parking. I usually park nearby or park at back of their parking lots. I always come at non peak hour, so parking is not hard to find. Waitlist. I hope them to open online waitlist. To save my time, I do not like to wait for food or tables. A lot of other restaurants open online waitlist which save time for customers. Menu. If we could choose meat in each flavours of pots, that would be great for us. We will visit more times. I see there is meat lover exchange and meat exchange but hopefully there is no extra charge.
Absolute favorite place. We moved away and make the 40 min drive out here just to have Boiling Point. I always get the Taiwanese Spicy, it never disappoints!
They didnt what my mother in law wanted when we went there but the other options were great;)
Boiling point is okay , when you go in you buy a set hotpot meal and you have access to a few sauces. The problem is you dont get much meat so you end up scraping at the filler cabbage in your bowl in the first ten minutes. The sauces are also really limited , its not really your traditional hopot iykwim On top of all this big way is nearby and you can get like 5 times more meat.
I went there with my friend for lunch last weekend. It was less customer than it used to be. And I realized their price has gone up, maybe thats the reason. The food was still decent, and customer service was good. I am just disappointed all the prices went up like another restaurant.
Fast service, big portion. Extra rice available
I ordered a Taiwanese spicy hot pot dinner. After eating it, I had diarrhea and vomiting at home early in the morning. I also had a fever.
I dont like that they dont split bills for customers, which the restaurant boiling point should be doing that or else they will lose customers.
Love having the extra beef !!! BP is one of my favourite restaurants Waitresses are always attentive and helpful. Thank you
The service is good and the classic stinky hot pot is also delicious! There is also black tea/green tea available for lunch!
6.5/10. Food is fair. Not the tastiest but not bad. It has been consistent over the years. Unfortunately cleanliness is questionable.
Long time no visit.. It was delicious.
Lots meat, tastes great!
A great place for individual hot pot that boils right in front of you. The curry cream hot pot tasted great and they give double meat portions now. There is an option for complimentary all you can eat rice if you don t choose vermicelli as your side. We chose vermicelli which comes individually packaged so if you don t want it right away, you can take it home. Portions are great. We also had the mutton hot pot which was so delicious and beautiful we were too excited to eat and finish it that we forgot to take pictures. The mutton soup was very fragrant with Chinese herbs. The service was fantastic, kind, and respectful. The Hokkaido milk tea was average. Solid place for individual hot pot combos.
When we paid, the guy at the cash register complained that You re supposed to give a tip. Umm, that s not how it works bro. You re supposed to tip if you liked the service. It s not mandatory. Every employee that has ever worked at the cash, had a smug face. Never smiled nor greeted you on your way out. Once, an employee spilled water on my bf as she was cleaning the table. Never apologized nor gave napkins just panicky walked away. Seriously, we love the food here. But the customer service is a major let down. There s only about 1 server there we often get that is very receptive of customers. Always asks if we need water or anything else. I didn t get her name but will do once I come back to Vancouver.
Used to be a big fan. My partner and I reserved our seat using phone number and waited IN THE STORE for like an hour . We received a message saying our seat will be ready soon. But we asked and it turns out it was canceled . WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
Staff always tell me to wait at the bench and for pickup. When food is ready to pickup on, Staff never tell me and I ended up waiting 10 minutes longer, ended up getting a complaint from Uber Eats, I dont mind waiting at the bench but when the food is ready staff told me they will tell me and never told me and left food on table for extra 30 minutes. If I go ask every 3 minutes if food is ready they will get annoyed so I was waiting on my phone in the bench.
The store is spacious inside and the staff are very friendly. The beef was hot but not spicy at all. Next time I think Ill try the spiciest level. Rich, delicious shabu-shabu flavor that is simmered so well!! Very satisfied
I am regular customer always came here for late dinner. The food used to be excellent . Until today the food is very very terrible the soup is very stinking. I told the server right away about the food that the smell and the taste is different. I asked the server to change for me and server called manager she denied to change and say if I change it will b the same. They have no customers service, they didn t even care about what customer say and did not try to fix or change anything. I was I will never ever go back there again. I DO NOT RECOMMENDED this location. TERRIBLE
I highly recommend the cream curry hotpot. The passionfruit green tea was really good as well. The servers were friendly and attentive to our needs. Will definitely go back again!
We had seasonal menu, Mutton hot pot, and I gotta say it was worth every penny. One of the best mutton hot pot I have ever had. Highly recommended.
Decent meal. I am a big hot pot fan, Im not sure if I could say any hot pot has ever blown my mind though. The Curry broth is where the flavour is at. Korean bean paste was decent
Superb I think I came back with family and friends so many times, but now we are too full in their double meat and eat all you can rice
The curry hot pot is great. But, you are missing my winter melon juice. Originally the score was given two stars. But, an extra star. Its because your curry hot pot is pretty good.
I always have the spicy beef option. Delicious with their dipping sauce and cumin dry spice powder. Try their passion fruit tea! So refreshing! Boiling point always hits the spot:) Parking: Meter parking right infront.
The best soup in town!
I ordered beef hotpot and I had the beef hotpot many times. However today the beef tasted very gamey and looked different than the other beef hotpot that was ordered. I was sure it was lamb and not beef. I dont eat lamb and I recognized the gamey taste both in the meat and the soup. My friend also ordered the same thing. His beef is visually differnt than mine and tasted different. Therefore I told the server that this is lamb, and I dont eat lamb. She explained to me multiple times that it is beef, but just from a different supplier. Then I asked why the beef my friend ordered tasted like very different and looked very different than mine. She was 100% sure what she gave me was beef. She finally offered to make me a new one. However, I asked how does she know it is beef when she has not even tasted the meat in my pot lol. Anyways I dont expect good customer service at a casual restaurant. However, I dont appreciate her kept telling me that it was beef and just hope that I accept it and eat it. Once again, I been eating the same beef hotpot for years, I can tell when it is not beef lol. The new one they brought to me was clearly beef and different than the initial one I had. Then she came again with a plate of meat on her hand. She told me this is lamb, you cannot tell visually if beef and lamb is different. I then agreed, and I told her once again it was the taste that was very unique to lamb in my first hotpot. She then claimed that she tried my leftover meat and concluded that it was beef. I am not sure if that was true because why would she eat the left over of a stranger with possible unknown diseases. From a managers perspective, it is the easiest solution just by offering a replacement right away. But not trying to argue with the customer on three separate occasions.
0 star for this location !!! Never brought water to our table, after 25 minutes waiting for our food to come , We found out they didn t even enter our order properly and I originally ordered the beef hot soup then I found out my order contains mostly pork , like you can tell right away it s pork belly . I m guessing they are scamming customers about the double meat part by giving them other meat choices What a joke ! I used to love this place but Not coming back here again. servers are bunch of amateurs
A staff member spilled scalding water on me and did not apologize. Will not be coming back.
It s so good, and reasonably priced I m shocked by the bad reviews! Haha and I have been here a lot
The sauce at the boiling point is really yyds! ! The ingredients are very fresh and the ancient black tea provided is so delicious.
I absolutely loved this place, but that is definitely because I am biased as I ve been craving soup with rice a lot recently. I really like that I can get my own little bowl of hot pot with everything predetermined and eat it with rice. The food was good, although I will admit that they do not have the best quality of ingredients. I simply like their style and wouldn t mind coming back again when I m craving this style of food.
Loud, cold, and flavourless meals. Update. Ordered the beef instead of miso this time. Taste a lot better. More rich. They turned up the heat. Finally. Im not freezing anymore so 3stars for atmosphere.
If you are looking for comfort food this is the place. Service is a bit slow but don t let that stop you from eating here.
Disappointed, food quality is getting worse and worse, service attitude is getting worse and worse, prices are too high
*update Jan 2024 They have double meat starting Jan 9th! I love having more protein in the hot pot, one of the things I always wanted was more meant , theyve done it ! Its a great deal for $22 + free bbt (limited time). Will be comeback much more often! *Old review Came here on recommendation with a friend, ordered the lamb hot pot and was pleasantly surprised at the entire meal! The staff were very attentive and brought the food out promptly if food is kept warm by a small flame that continues to cook your food and heat the soup for the entirety of your meal. Theres many different flavors and assortment of Hot Pot to drive will definitely come back here with my friend again in the near future!
My fav hot soup and now double the meat! Perfect for cold days!
Doubled the meat but at the cost of increasing the price to $22 from $19 in January. Would have preferred the original amount of meat:/
Its a good place to have hot pot Parking: Need more space for parking Food : 5/5 |
The lamb soup taste good but portion could be larger.
My husband ordered 2 beef hot pot soup for takeout and they forgot the beef in one of the order .which is basically the main highlight of the beef hot pot soup. The next time we ordered takeout again, we let the server know what had happened. The only thing she said was oh sorry, we will make sure you have beef in your take out this time my husband says oh, alright then as he s not the type to press for a refund or at least refund the item that was missing. He then proceeded to ask, then this time can you at least give an extra packet of garlic sauce as I don t like the other sauces. The server said no, everything is pre packed and you only get 1 of each sauce she was so inflexible and even charged us extra for requesting 1 extra bag of sauce that s worth 35cents poor customer service. Update: they forgot the extra sauce we paid for. Update: Called the store Manager Joey. He was very kind and quick problem solver. He acknowledged the issue and offered us a free meal the next time we go.
Everything is hurried, the staff will ask you did you finish turn off your bowl, but you still have the food inside, it seems like asking you to go. Also, food is just okay only
always meet my expectations!
The atmosphere is packed and busy, but that just adds to the fun and lively experience. The broth selection is impressive and the add-on options are fresh and delicious. I was also impressed with the sauce selection available at the table, which allowed me to customize my dipping sauces to my liking. My partner particularly enjoyed the food, as it reminded her of what she would eat as a kid. The staff is friendly and attentive, despite the busy atmosphere. Overall, Boiling Point is a great spot for a fun and tasty hot pot meal.
Affordable, lots of food, super hot, delicious, and best of all at the end of a meal comes a fibre jelly to make sure you go after.
I had a good time at boiling point hot pot. The taste is delicious.
Perfect for rainy days
Consistent quality, tasty individual hot pots. Portion may be a bit smaller than other places
I went because I was craving something spicy, and it was delicious. I had spicy Thai and spicy beef (medium spicy). If you think of the malatang you eat in Korea, it would be appropriate to order beef with medium spiciness if you like it less spicy, and order it one level higher if you want it spicy. ^^;
My goto place for hearty warm food in the winter. Price has increased but portion remains ok.
It was a nice experience trying hot pot with individual burners. Everyone had the soup base they wanted and enough food included. It was definitely worth what we paid and still had options to add if we felt we needed more. You can make your own sauce at the table and have your soup base refilled if needed. Will try again and expand to a new flavour.
Price is good for eating a hotpot, and the taste for Taiwanese Spicy was great. However, the hotpots with pork and pork intestines smelled bad as if the meat was not fresh/ and not properly clean/cooked, which the Tofu in the soup ended up absorbing the flavor and the smell as well. My friend ended up not eating the Tofu in the soup. I would recommend the hotpot without pork, or something spicy like Tainwanese Spicy for the people who doesnt like the smell.
Its a great place to dine in if you are up to a boiling soup on the spot for diner or lunch, serving us very little for the price but atleast the liquid soup is refillable. I didnt enjoy my last meal here, soup are a bit oily and you would know that once the boiling point is over so keep on asking for fire, Its not a healthy choice meal restaurant for me. Parking: Limited road fre parking
My favorite place for personal sized hotpots! Limited parking in front of the restaurant The inside is very spacious, with a relaxed atmosphere, great for group of friends! All the hotpots were super flavourful, filled with toppings such as pork slices, mushroom, napa cabbage, fish cake Their garlic soy sauce pairs so well with everything! Mild spice was hotter than I expected My go-tos are the beef hot soup and milk cream curry (Kare Raisu flavour) Finish off with a refreshing complementary Konjac jelly pouch! Price have increased slightly and aren t super affordable anymore, but still reasonable for a very full meal
Food was great but we were not able to split our bill.
Awesome soups, the spicy is pretty spicy. A bit of a wait to get in, but totally worth it
This location is good, but food sucks! I ordered beef hot soup, and I only got some meat scrap on the top. Inefficient service.never again! Food : 1/5
Waited about 30 minutes to get a table on a weekend night. Food wasnt anything special, just a pre-set hotpot set. Service was good.
gimmick place like bakugans. had the lamb pot and i think they think i m a giraffe with the amount of lettuce they gave me. i am not a giraffe
Food is alright but experience was a little unpleasant. Chopsticks and bowl smell and taste like soap. My rice also smell like soap.
This place really surprised me. The broth is fantastic. We tried the Thaiwanese spicy. The Thaiwanese one was a tad more expensive than we were expecting. If you have peanut allergy, please be careful and let the staff know! They are very busy so come early.
1 is too much for this Today me and my son 3 yrs old came at lunch but not busy at all , they put us to table near door because we only 2 . Then i told them that table too cold . After 5 mins , they let us come to have table right front of cashier , and set up table w sauce , chopstick spoon . BUT they totally ignored us, even i called them twice waiters gave a look back but didnt come to help . Other THREE table came after us they order them all and guset what theyre CHINESE . Then I realize this restaurant is not for non-chinese people Plus , they saw me stand up and wearing rain jacket for my son because i was mad and i want to leave , I looked back and see they actually having fun , laughing because WE LEAVE ! THIS RESTAURANT IS RIDICULOUS TERRIBLE SERVICE IN BC Kid-friendliness: unfriendly , rude , racism
Great taste, service is excellent. Parking: Kingsway Food : 5/5 |
Decent food and good customer service. Will be back
Food was good but service was incredibly lacking and they wont split a bill, how inconvenient
Though Ive dined here a lot and everything has always been perfect . on March 29 I had a bad experience. She is not Chinese , she make me felt l didnt have respect, unprofessional. but l really love this place , hope the restaurant have any changes
It was fusion food, but nothing special. The taste is a bit strange. There seems to be a lot of difference in likes and dislikes.
Yummy as always!
Food taste is consistently good. We ordered same item every time.
The foods always amazing, I was saddened when the guildford location closed but it s well worth the trip to come here for some amazing soup. The spicy lamb and the Japanese style pots are the best imo.
Went on a Friday evening for an early dinner. We did not make a reservation, but there were a couple tables available so we were seated right away near the front entrance. Our entire party was not present at the time of seating, but they still gave us a table. The server quickly brought water and extra table settings and waited for the rest of our party to arrive before asking for our order. The menu is available via QR code at each table. The menu is quite extensive and there are a number of choices available for different preferences. With each hot pot, you can also customize the spice level and whether you get rice or vermicelli noodles. Orders were taken quickly and the food came out shortly after. The server provided some extra bowls, but not enough for the table. Perhaps due to the location of the table, it was difficult to catch the attention of a server, so getting extra bowls or water was not as easy. Servers were prompt to help once you got their attention, and provided what we needed. Boiling Point also provides free sauces at each table, which you can mix in your own dish to eat with. Two people shared a hot pot and it was enough food to fill both people. Staff did not rush us out after we finished our meal and we were told to pay at the cash register. Note that they do not split bills, so one person must pay for the entire table. Would recommend for a casual meal, although there will likely be a wait closer to dinnertime. The noise level is also noticeable, although it does not require you to raise your voice to be heard at the table. Parking: There is a small parking lot behind just off Kingsway, although no guarantee that there is parking. There is street parking further south of Kingsway, mostly paid parking until 8pm.
boiling point hot pot it s pretty good tasty soup.
Parking is extremely difficult. There are no parking spaces in front of or near the store. It is not recommended to drive there.
Personal Taiwanese hotpot place. The bubble tea is quite good. Have cheaper lunch menu (couple dollars cheaper). Tried the beef and house special. The stinky tofu was not too stinky and tasty. My beef hotpot was supposed to be mild spicy but it was too spicy for me.
Love the food. Good service. Quite fast paced.
Solid spot for a unique take on individual hot pot. This was my first time coming in about a year and although the overall flavour is still there, there was less meat and more noodles. Do better!
A good solid choice for some hotpot with friends! It is consistently good, at a reasonable price (free tea drink for lunch too), and of course, tastes great! My only complaints are that their menu is pretty small, and they dont allow split bills, but these are things I can easily look past. I highly recommend their korean bean paste :)
It was my first time trying a Taiwanese hot pot. The hot pot was flavorful. I also tried stinky tofu which my Taiwanese friends highly suggested to me, its an interesting flavour, smelly, but tasty. One thing is that they couldnt split the bill, so it s inconvenient for some reason.
hotpot ok here!
This is a great place for individual hot pot if youre interested in trying a variety of ingredients. Though you dont get to choose your own ingredients like other places, the menu items are thoughtful and well crafted. My personal favourites are their Korean Bean Paste and the Miso. The only downside to the food is that most ingredients come precooked, so some things (like shrimp or sliced meat) can become way overcooked if you dont eat them immediately. They do often have a wait at dinner, but at lunch theres usually no wait. You also get a free iced green or black tea at lunch!
My comfort food.
Tasty food. Polite and good service.
It may not have stood out as an exceptional dining experience but it provided a satisfying meal
Havent changed menu for years, I feel nothing to eat in this place, but price and tip rise dramatically, almost 30$ final price for each pot
Food
My friends went there and they told me they would never go back, 2nof them epreinces diarrhea. Well, to each its own right? So then me abd dayghter went there last night and evrything was fine, the next day my daughter experienced the paun in her stomach so i thought maybe its just what she ate earlier so then she said except she had brunch only sandwich, so observing it and then now i felt goosebumps and felt somethings wrong, thank goodness its my day off, went to the bathroom several times. Omg!!! I knew now where we got it! Boiling Point thats it! My friends, my daughter and now meee??? Unacceptable! Dietary restrictions: Clean vegetables thourougly!!!
Great food, my favourite is the Korean bean paste hot pot! Edit: I just tried their seasonal hot pot, the hot green . It s my new favourite, hopefully it can be a main menu item in the future! Food : 5/5
Great place to go when I don t know what to eat. Yummy, simple and love the sauce. Always come here
I was told drink is buy 1 get 1 50% by one server, and at the end they said they are not able to do that cuz it s seasonal drink, I would not ordered it in this case if they told me the right info from the first. Disappointing.
Good place for hot pot.
Taiwanese Spicy Hotpot is the spiciest dish Ive ever tried in my life. If you love spicy food, you gotta try it! Parking: Street parking available, also a few parking spots in the backside of the restaurant
Average taste, good service, few side dishes
Diarrhea after every meal, and after reading the review on the caterpillar I can see why. Place definitely has hygiene issues and needs to be shut down.
Delicious food, good service and reasonable prices
Poor service
Amazing service! The staff were great and kind - I accidentally spilled some food and they were very kind and fast to clean it up. They have QR code menu which I m not a fan of. The portions felt small for what you were paying for (~$22 for a hot pot bowl) although my friend and I were able to share it since we were both not that hungry. At lunch you can get a free green tea or black tea. I got the green tea which was way too sweet for my taste (you cannot customize it). You get free soup refill. Overall I did like the food however I don t think I would come back that often as it did not feel that unique.
Came here for dinner and at 7pm they ran out of vegetarian option.... How can you run out of vegetarian options for dinner? Waited almost an hour for our table to hear theres no more options.
I use to love this place because of the convenience, the price and service but a lot of it took a turn when an incident happened recently at this place which made it even clearer that i would never come back to this place ever again. My mother ordered the green soup to try because they highly Advertised it on their menu and it really looked appealing. On the other hand, i just ordered the regular beef soup. When the green soup arrived, the first thing my mom did was sipped the soup and then instantly she had a weird after taste- very bitter and grainy. She asked me if i should taste the soup and so i did and it tasted the same as described. She wanted to brush it off and give it another try (IT WAS ONLY ONE BITE) - but she couldn t shake off the fact that there was the bitter after taste. I told her to replace and get a new dish. We asked a server to kindly return the dish so we can get a new one because it tasted bitter. The first things that came out of the servers mouth was (sorry, but the policy states if you were to return the dish and get a different dish you would have to pay for the green soup and also pay for the new picked soup)/ she also stated that because she ate the soup she wont be able to take it back . Theres just a few worst things that a restaurant can say to you is this would be it. Policies are for your workers not for your customers. The lack of customer service is just so profound. Huge disrespect. Me and my mother we wanted to walk out but the server said that she would lock us in and call the cops if we decided to leave without pay. Im sorry but we are customers who did not appreciate the food and wanted to get a new type of dish. We are not willing to pay for the meal that we are not satisfied with. Its just infuriating when the so called manager is so close to your face and threaten you with cops and locking us in. Its quite un called for. This whole incident did not have to turn out like this. A few moments later because the amount of exhaustion i had prior coming to this restaurant we just decided to purchase the soup and take it home. What they could have done was make a recommendation to better assist us on making the dish better by adding more broth, or remake the dish etc GIVE US SOME GOOD SERVICE. Like c mon, we are willing to pay for the dishes we are happy with but not like this. I placed a complaint on their website and all they did was give me $10. Okay, thats not even worth anything . Own up the fact that your policy is horrible. I also told them that i had a massive diarrhea the next morning and all they said was sorry go to your nearest hospital what the Fudge, is this. Imagine someone having an allergic reaction or any medical emergency and all they say is this.. Just a huge let down. I dont think showing up to this place is worth it anymore. Just the lack of respect. The two pictures posted on here is what i found when i drained the broth, full of dirt and every bite that i took when i got home from the soup was full of dirt and had to spit out the rocks that i found.
There were a lot of options for food and you pay by the how much it weights. Not sure just the food or the pot + food but I overestimated myself and order more than I can eat!
Nice food, bad service, keep waiting for someone to serve me , trying to request changing seats, its ok to get refused for the request but the waitress is so rude.... Will not recommend to have boiling point in Burnaby tho, Richmonds service better.
There is a BUG in the spicy beef pot!!! This is so disgusting. If you want to eat bugs then boiling point is a good choice.
I live in the area and have been coming here regularly but because of this one experience I will not be coming back. Everything started smoothly, we came in to eat around 7pm and were seated right away. Waitress came by and we ordered our food and waited. Food came out after about 10 minutes which is normal but in that time we have not received any water despite other tables receiving some. That s okay they were slightly busy so we gave them benefit of the doubt and continued with dinner. We began eating until halfway through dinner my girlfriend had to spit out a sharp piece of wood about 2 inches long that was from her hotpot. This was concerning as she could have swallowed it causing a much bigger problem. We brought this up to a waitress who just looked at us and said nothing. I was expecting an apology or some sort of acknowledgment for the mistake but not a word was said from the waitress she just took away the plate with the wooden piece. We thought Oh maybe she is just going to get the manager or someone to deal with it . Instead when she told the other waitresses they just looked at our table and talked amongst themselves. It felt like we were the problem for bringing something like this up. It s not like we were demanding them to remake our food or give us the food for a discount. I thought they would remake it for concern of the customers well being as they could find another sharp wooden piece which could lead to a dangerous scenario . I thought it would have been common courtesy to address the concern or at least apologize but seems like this isn t the case at this restaurant. Not a fan of wasting food but had to leave without finishing the food as I don t want to make my girlfriend eat from where she just found a sharp item. Paid for the dinner and left. Regardless of service, food tastes okay makes stomach feel rough afterwards. Will not be coming back to this location.
Love this place. Reasonably priced for the amount of food. It s a sodium MSG bomb, but what do you expect? It s delicious, affordable, and the staffs are nice.
Very good food at affordable price
Nice hotpot and friendly staff!
Taste really good and is the same as traditional Taiwanese food!
If you like quickly-cooked mini hot pots that you can enjoy right away, Boiling Point would be a great choice. The classic House special hot soup is their signature, but for those trying this restaurant for the first time, I highly recommend the Beef Hot soup. If you can handle heat, then challenge yourself with the Taiwanese Spicy Hot soup , where the spice level isn t adjustable.
I ordered 2 hot pots on Uber eats. Beef and Taiwanese spicy both came without meat. How do you mess up like that?! I go to boiling point at least once every two weeks but this is ridiculous. I will be going to Big Way Hotpot instead.
Food is good
Good
The waiters are very unprofessional. The food is good but dirty
Quick & affordable mini hotpot. Their bbt really good. Wish they can change the pot bcz it so small :((((
Just ok Nothing impressive flavour.
I called to order pickup. After 15 minutes, they kept telling me that it was not ready yet and asked me to wait. After asking two or three times, they found that they had not placed an order at all. The service attitude is really good
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kingsway Mini Hot Pot, and it was an absolute delight. This place offers a unique twist on the traditional hot pot experience by providing a mini hot pot style thats perfect for those on the go. Overall, Kingsway Mini Hot Pot is a fantastic choice if youre looking for a fast, yummy, and convenient hot pot experience. Its perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, and it wont disappoint in terms of taste and service. Ill definitely be returning for more of their mouthwatering mini hot pot delights!
Got the winter blues? craving hot pot or something warm? This is as close to a hot pot place with the food already selected in 5-10 menu items. We have been here a couple times and liked the lamb, beef, tofu, and miso hotpots. When the liquid level is low, you can get them to add soup, which I love about. They have 4 dipping sauces to supplement your experience but I found the food tasty on their own. Some families come here with their kids. The place can get pretty packed so Come early.
The taste is good, but basically every time I eat with my family, I get diarrhea. I feel that the food is not clean and not cooked thoroughly.
Always have a great experience here

Nice place! They used to have one location near my place but no longer there so we came all the way to metro location and great food as usual! :) I find the sauce containers can make you a bit messy. Aside from this, great! :)
This review is strictly for takeout/food delivery only*** I truly enjoy coming to Boiling Point to eat in the restaurant and usually have great service. I cant say the same when I order it through ubereats. two times in a row ive had issues and its so disappointing. The first time I ordered off ubereats about a month ago the restaurant delivered me the wrong item that I couldnt eat because it was the house special that contains pork blood and stinky tofu. The whole thing had to be tossed out because it smelled SO bad. I got refunded on uber thankfully. I even called to leave feedback that they sent me the wrong item in case someone else got mine and they assured me it wouldnt happen again. Tonight my friend ordered off uber using his account and his seafood hot soup looked like it was all broth and no ingredients. He thought it was at the bottom but when he moved the seafood aside he found there was no meat at all. We are waiting for ubereats to refund half the order for that item now. They really need to do a better job at quality control its so sloppy. Especially since two items and one drinks with all the uber fees puts the total over $50. I rather would dine in instead of ordering delivery from now on. Its a gamble whether or not you get what you order.
Seriously, can you supervise the packing? Is this a bowl of rice? ? Is it necessary to be so perfunctory? ? ? Cant you afford a whole bowl of rice? ? ? ?
It s ok. I do not recommend vegetarian options here because it s mostly just lettuce and mushroom. The portion is very small, there is not enough vermicelli. The wifi is not working and just loads on your phone. Maybe if you are on a diet you can try the veggie options here. The broth is ok it is sweet and not too salty. If you are afraid of hot things you can ask them to turn off the fire for you.
Recommeded. Place too busy during Saturday and Sunday. It will take you 45 minutes to wait for a table.
Always have enjoyed the food at boiling point, staff have always been there when needed or called and attended to our needs. They are quite busy so on occasion have forgotten a side order or drink but once asked bring it promptly.
Food is good but portion is just a bit little. Options around the area are just better than boiling point now
We dine in yesterday. I was very disappointed. The taste and the service, the staffs told us that we dine in for big table that s why she push us to give a tip and I didn t understand why. We wanted to give a tip but not to the point that she insisted it. All in all we will not come back again! It s a worst experience ever.
I ordered Beef hotpot, it made me super full and it was really really really delicious! Customer service is good, staff are friendly and atmosphere is nice, highly recommended this hotpot restaurant!!
The food was good and recommended for a spicy lover, coz they have many levels of spiciness. You get the complimentary tea drink if you order before 3pm, for dine in only.
Service was good. Price definitely had went up since last few years and the amount of food are sliced thinner than before. No longer worth the price.
really good restaurant
