4300 Kingsway #5, Burnaby, BC V5H 1Z8, Canada
Fresh, flavourful authentic Indian cuisine. Saffron Indian Cuisine is family owned and operated, and has been been serving the Burnaby area for 20 years.
the smell outside this indian restaurant was so tempting that we couldnt resist to give it a try! and it didnt disappoint us! the food really tasted good. we enjoyed this traditional indian restaurant so much!
Food was delicious, good size portions, will be back next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
The Good: butter chicken is as delicious as i remembered it. The GREAT: add-ons at no extra cost - the chips w the sauce (i can't recall what it is but it usually comes w shrimp pakoras); and the 4x pieces of Naan were a pleasant surprise. Left me completely stuffed and I rolled out of there. The MEH: not busy on Fri lunch time but they only came by once to fill up my cup w water. They appeared to be more focused on a larger table of 10-12. They informed me that they don't do buffets anymore after COVID, which is too bad as they used to have a decent dinner buffet.
Found this great little restaurant on facebook and had to try it. Great location, cozy atmosphere with rustic decor. I ordered the Veg thali , which was absolutely delicious. The flavours were rich and perfectly seasoned. Prompt service. It’s definitely a must try. Probably one of the best in Burnaby
The place is both beautiful and spotless, with exceptionally courteous staff. But the standout feature is the food! We tried both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian Thali, and each was delicious—the dal.. OMG was outstanding. The portions are just right for the price. I've visited twice already and will certainly return!
Solid Indian restaurant along Kingsway. Fish pakora - very fresh Beef samosas - solid Mixed plate - great presentation Chicken biryani - delicious We did everything "hot" tonight. Recommend a mix of hot and mild, so you can taste more favours..
I use to order take out from here, it was nice to come back again. The samosas were hot and fresh. Just know not everything on the menu is available. The lamb chops were amazing! The fish tender and succulent. Worth a visit
We wanted to go to Big Way Hotpot but both places had a huge line up. One sniff of the air and Saffron brought us in 😂 This restaurant has been around for a long time but we never got around to trying it and we were glad we did today. We ordered the 2 lunch special, butter chicken and chefs samples. It was delicious. I love the mango custard dessert. The service was very good. We felt like we were having fine dining Indian food. We will definitely come back the next time we're in the hood. Thank you for a delicious lunch.
A good selection of Indian cuisine for the price of $24 (Weekday price). Both female servers working at lunch today were kind and accommodating :)
We frequently visit this restaurant because their food is consistently delicious, and we ve always enjoyed the regular menu. However, today we decided to try the buffet, and unfortunately, it didn t meet our expectations. The taste of the buffet items didn t quite match the high standard of their regular menu. If you re considering the buffet based on your experience with their regular offerings, keep in mind that it may not be as great. We hope this feedback helps improve the buffet experience in the future.
Thank you.
grossest indian food Ive tried in metro vancouver
Family decided on Indian food one day and decided to come here. I was a bit skeptical as Im not really sure what Indian food had to offer but Im glad we came here, such a lovely little spot with delicious food! I had a dish with paneer in curry tomato sauce and I was disappointed there wasnt more! It was absolutely delicious. Will be coming here more often!
i came here for the lunch special, and i was so disappointed. the butter chicken tasted like canned tomato soup. everything came out cold, the only good thing was the plain white rice.
Had the Best indian food in last 7 years. Every single thing was fantastic. The real flavors of India. Will make you question yourself why you didnt tried it earlier. Plus their staff is super nice and friendly. Kalyan went above n beyond the expectations to help us serve the best experience.
delicious roti
Try afternoon tea with flavoured aloo paratha. Wonderful tea spot
Very very good food, the service was just wonderful and fast. We had the samosas for the appetizer and they were probably one of the best we ve ever had. Mains were chicken curry and Kadai panner, were both very yummy with the naan. Can t wait to try more of their food and would definitely recommend. The only thing we had a hard time with was parking because there was an event near by.
Paneer tikka sizzler and malai paneer pizza were great.
A Thali with 2 non-vegetarian dishes, one daal, a kebab and naan + rice, with dessert of your choice all for $23? you gotta love this place. Saffron also has a great chef, so almost all their dishes are killer! Love love love the thali though 10/10 would recommend.
Butter Chicken and Naan were very tasty. Got another naan, too! Servers were attentive and kind. Will definitely come back! Food : 5/5 |
The lamb curry here is truly exceptional and maybe the best in town.
Very good taste, the restaurant stuff is a bit old but very welcoming staff made our experience great. I would go there again.
(Pre-pandemic) Delicious buffet. All the fried stuff is great: Samosas, pakoras not oily. Garlic naan has a TON of garlic on a freshly soft yeasty bread - YES! I cannot enjoy garlic naan elsewhere because the one here sets a high bar. Also love the beverages: Chai when its snowing out and mango lassi when its hot. All good. (Post-pandemic) No buffet. Chicken biryani (9/10): chicken tender, nice spicing. Garlic naan (8/10): still freshly soft and tasty. Goa Fish Curry (8/10): delish, Basa fish moist, coconut curry had heat as well as sweet. Lamb vindaloo (7/10): good. Butter chicken (7/10): nice flavour but meat a bit dry. Beef samosa (7/10): prefer higher meat to wrap ratio. Veg pakora, bread pakora (6/10): not as crunchy as their pre-pandemic potato pakora.
Dined here in lunch time. We ordered their veg and non-veg thalis, both were good in taste and amount of food. The only thing we felt lack was the service. The staff was not welcoming and was just putting food on table like robot.
Great food and service. Dined here for lunch specials. Highly recommended. Staff here was very warm welcoming. Appreciated whole team!!
Genuinely the best choice for Indian food in Burnaby/Metrotown and probably one of the best in the Greater Vancouver Area. They used to have a buffet option before the pandemic and I WISH they would bring it back! It was great for taking friends and colleagues to.
Saffron in Burnaby is a hidden gem, especially for biryani lovers. Their chicken biryani is hands down the best I ve ever had, boasting rich, aromatic flavors and tender chicken every time. The dish is perfectly spiced and full of authentic taste that transports you straight to the heart of South Asia. That said, the spice level can be a bit inconsistent, especially when ordered through Uber Eats. While dining in, the balance is usually spot on, but takeout orders can occasionally vary between being too mild or a little too spicy. However, even with this variability, the quality and taste remain exceptional. One of the standout aspects of dining at Saffron is the excellent service, especially from Kalyan, who is always very friendly and helpful with recommendations. He knows the menu well and offers great suggestions to enhance your dining experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is attentive, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. If you re a fan of biryani, Saffron is a must-visit. Despite the occasional inconsistency with Uber Eats orders, it s still the best chicken biryani in the world in my opinion. Vegetarian options: Plenty and delicious Dietary restrictions: Quite accommodating
I m not one to post a negative review because I firmly believe that if I have a bad experience at a place with a lot of hype, I caught them on a bad night. But Saffron unfortunately did not make the cut. We were rushed to order the second we sat down. It was not at all busy or else we would ve understood the rush to clear another table, but it got to the point where we were asked if we were ready to order every 2 minutes by the same three staff. We had to firmly tell two of those staff we will let you know when we re ready before we caught a break. Mind you, we maybe took 15 minutes to order, TOPS. My partner and I spent those minutes ordering our drinks, debriefing our day and deciding what we wanted considering we had heard nothing but good things. We got the veg pakora to start, which I ll admit was delicious (and the only reason it deserves more than one star), but our mains were another story. We ordered the butter chicken and the dal makhani: the butter chicken was poorly seasoned and extremely sweet, the dal was watery and the lentils were undercooked to the point where a lot of them were hard to chew, and the garlic naan was dry and had very minimal garlic flavour to the point where it tasted like regular naan when eating it with our food. And while we were bothered the entirety of the time before ordering, not once did someone come in and check on us when we were eating to make sure everything tasted ok. Yes, we could ve flagged someone down, but we expected the staff to check in considering how much they did before we ordered. We only took a few bites of our mains before we took the rest to go. I can t say we will ever be back.
Good around this location if u crave Indian
It was so good! I will definitely be back!
Delicious food and great ambiance. Servers were very friendly. Especially loved the butter chicken and samosa and biryani. The yogurt on the side was awesome too!
I have gone here probably over 100 times. And will likely go here 100 more times. It is one of my partners and mines favorite restaurants.
How long Daal makhni takes to make???? 30 minutes Service : 1/5
I ordered a beef biriyani but they gave me a lamb biriyani made my sister sick
Good service
Indian food that I have collected for a long time You can smell the strong aroma of curry from a few streets nearby The store is spacious, clean and has an atmosphere There are a lot of Indians sitting there, so it must be very authentic. Chicken Korma More delicious than butter chicken Korma! The meat inside is chicken legs and chicken breasts Not too bad The sauce used creamycashew nut sauce Nutty oily aroma The spiciness can be adjusted Their taste is Canadian and not too spicy. Eat with Naan or tear into small pieces and put them in a bowl It looks like a small bowl but the portion is quite sufficient Saffron Thali Three different curries, a piece of roast chicken, and a rice pudding Enjoy rice and glutinous rice at the same time If you have trouble choosing and want to eat everything, you can order this For some staple dishes, you can choose rice or glutinous rice The rice is made from slender Indian rice with distinct grains The noodles are chewy and thick. It can be replaced with garlic naan which is great
I ordered through Ubereats, and the staff were extremely accommodating to my requests. Moreover the chana masala was REALLY REALLY good. I ll be ordering again, and will be visiting soon to try the other dishes!
best take out curry i had in my life, it has gone up in price tho yeesh. but still good
1 Star Horrible Service and Mediocre Food If I could give less than 1 star, I would. We ve only been to this restaurant twice, despite it being close to home, and theres a reason for that. The food is mediocre at best, the service is terrible, and the interior feels old and outdated. The only reason this place survives is because there are no other Indian restaurants in the area. Only thing worth trying is Shahi Paneer. I went with a party of 6, including family visiting from Ontario, hoping for a decent experience. Instead, we were greeted by a server who acted like she owned the place (a Punjabi woman in her 30s avoid her at all costs). We smiled politely and asked if she could take our order, and she rudely raised a finger at us, snapped one minute, OK? with an actual angry expression. It was incredibly disrespectful. We all ordered thalis, and the first one came out right away, but the rest of us had to awkwardly wait over 5 minutes for ours. And when we asked for basic utensils like spoons and forks none of which were on the table she ignored us. When she finally brought them, she slammed them down without a word or even eye contact. This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences Ive ever had. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else. You deserve better. Kid-friendliness: This place is not human friendly
I didn t even leave yet and I needed to give them five stars! Amazing service, the food is simply delicious, the butter chicken was amazing! The girl that helped us choosing our dinner was really sweet and she made sure to help us with what we needed. Ah, also, the mango drinks, WOW!
Excellent Indian cuisine close to Metrotown. Good flavours and reasonably priced. Friendly service Very loud inside with two big parties--so no need for music. That was the only criticism Food
We came to Saffron around 1pm on a Saturday long weekend. Surprisingly, we were able to get a table for 8. Their food portions and reasonable prices were excellent. I had the Chana Masala, and it was delicious, that I plan on coming back sooner than later! Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options Parking: There is a small parking lot in the side, entrance on Wilson. We didnt drive, I just know from past experiences. I cant remember if its free or paid.
I visited with my friend to try out the indian food here, the experience was good overall. For the individual items- Kadahi Paneer - Taste was very good Portion was not enough compared to the price The bowl in which paneer served was small so it was overflowing Garlic Naan - it was okay-ish Mango ice cream - it was a good desert and served at the right time when we finished our meal.
not worth it AT ALL we ordered the fish pakora and beef curry, both were SO SALTY. the naan was so small paid this much and i was hungry afterward but i didn t want to order anything more there. i didn t even want to finish the curry because it felt like the salt was hurting my tongue
I had to post review in the middle of my meal so i dont forget to give them 5 starts. The food was so amazing. We got veg thali and saffron thali. Both came in with daal makhni, and it was delicious.
Modestly priced. Fresh food and authentic Indian dishes with a local flair Service is pleasant and thoughtful. It is without a doubt one of if not the best in Burnaby.
Found this gem of a place in Burnaby. Amazing taste with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available. No added charges for alternative options. The service is prompt and with a smile. The prices are on point. If you love authentic taste and atmosphere with exceptional service- go here. You wont be disappointed.
I don t usually leave reviews, but I absolutely loved this restaurant. The atmosphere was inviting and warm, service was wonderful, and food was exceptional. Would definitely recommend!
i ordered veg biryani, through ubereats, based on the rating and reviews, the price is 20:95 for few pieces of capsicum along with frozen veggies, you guys really dont know what biryani tastes like, to make it hot please dont shove black pepper in there, may be use greenchillies to enhance the taste and add some veggies if you wanted to charge same price. no spoons and tissues were sent even upon requested. However Raita was good.
Only and only the food is delicious that s why this restaurant is still working. The staff and service is beyond worst!! They are kind of racists. Not once it has happened many times, they are cold, don t know how to talk to their own people!! They don t smile. Gosh!! It s better to order than to dine in especially in my matter I think so.
Has this place gone downhill, did the real chef quit, or did I visit on a bad day? Mushy overcooked vegetables prepared with aggressively boring masalas, with no whole spice in sight . . . aside from the fresh paneer, this was not good food. Dishes served: kadai paneer and aloo gobi. Stars added for good service (attentive and proactive) and the complimentary appetizer provided (the chutney is delicious). The main dishes however were sadly not up to speed. Date visited: 24 July 2024.
Just had food from this restaurant, it was top notch realyyyy loved it omg will come back with friends and family again.
Decent food with decent prices
The food was fine. I liked the chicken tikka masala but the management is really rude. I don t know why they turned off the lights while we were still having dinner. Not sure if they value their customers.
Veg thali is exclusive
Portion is getting less and less and worst they missed one order. Frustrating for pick up orders.
Keep Im mind I.am not Indian and rarely eat Indian food... But this food was amazing. I got the thali which is a platter of a bit of everything. I got the platter with the kheer.. I was afraid the kheet would be too sweet but I love it. Also price is reasonable for me. I couldnt even finish. Service wasnt too bad. Two lovely wait staff. But did have to wait a bit. Beautiful decor.
The servers were like siri.
Very good food, love their veg thali
High quality Indian food. Their spinach lamb gosht and mint chutney are absolutely delicious
Pizza yesterday was so good
Unfriendly staff, did not greet well
Great dine out place for Indian food , amazing taste and hospitality. Interiors can be upgraded as you can see regular wear and tear. Big shout out to our server KALYAN for being super nice and giving us amazing food suggestions and great service Food
I went here on Canada Day with my wife, food was really very good and their service was exemplary. Despite the busy Canada Day rush, the staff remained attentive and friendly throughout our meal. They were knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations and ensuring that we had everything we needed. I remember Mandeep was taking care of each and every table in such a good way and making sure everyone enjoys the food and gets proper attention. Must Recommended.
We got their Shahi Paneer, Tikka Masala Lamb, Baingan Bharta and Bhatura. I absolutely love their creamy, rich and slightly sweet Shahi Paneer (grated cottage cheese in yogurt, cream and nuts). Plus, they all came with a choice of naan or rice!
18 dollars for a bowl of Chana masala and no bread or rice? No thank you. Food
One of the best Malai soya chaamp I ever had in Canada. Truly the best.
Saffron Thali for the win!
amazing restaurant with delicious food, a must try
I recently dined at Saffron Indian Cuisine in Vancouver and had an exceptional experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The menu offered a diverse selection of authentic Indian dishes, each bursting with rich flavors and spices. The butter chicken was particularly outstanding, and the naan was perfectly soft and fresh. Overall, Saffron Indian Cuisine is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious, high-quality Indian food.
Recently visited this hidden gem in Burnaby Vancouver and I love it. The atmosphere was soo good. They offer the authentic taste of Indian food and so many options to choose from. I really liked their tandoori lamb chops and the drinks were also great.
I tried their prawn biryani and it was delicious
The best Indian restaurant in metro Vancouver.
Absolutely fantastic experience at Saffron Indian Cuisine in Burnaby, BC! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. The service was impeccable attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. The butter chicken was a standout, rich and creamy, and the naan was the best Ive ever had soft, fluffy, and freshly baked. I highly recommend Saffron Indian Cuisine for anyone looking to enjoy a delightful Indian meal. Well definitely be returning soon!
Delicious food excellent service and great customer service !
Unfortunately, I have order just the fish pakora and I felt sick all night long. It is the morning after and I still feel awful. I won t be ordering from here again.
One of my favourite restaurant in canada . Everything is good service , food , atmosphere like all . Food is also ver y delicious .
One of the best restaurant I visited in burnaby. The staff here is so friendly and the food is tasty and they has so many varieties in chicken, lamb and beef curries. Must recommended restaurant.
The food tasted amazing! Id have preferred slightly larger portion sizing in general but thats it!
I tried to request a refund for a double order on a delivery app (I cancelled my order and quickly re-ordered and added rice to the order - I forgot it) and the charge went through anyway. When I called to explain and request a refund I was rudely dismissed and told there was no way they could help me. My orders were identical except I added to the second one, so its not like they had to make extra food or waste anything. My cancelled order and re-order were much less than 5 min apart. Totally unhelpful and a bad attitude. Will not give them my business again.
Help! The parking company hangtag keep sending me emails of charging me $60+ a day after I paid my one hour visit in this restaurant. I didn t sign up for any automatic payment.
Everything was excellent. Service, price, flavour (and I ve been to a fair few Indian restaurants) - no complaints.
A few weeks ago, I visited this place for the first time with my partner and a friend. The atmosphere is fantastic, especially with a unique display of antique artifacts on the wall, enhancing the overall aesthetic. Their lunch specials offer excellent value, and the service was top-notch. I thoroughly enjoyed the every curry in my plate, specially Chicken Tikka masala and lamb curry. The server was attentive and friendly. We really liked the food & drinks. If youre looking for delicious Indian cuisine near Metrotown, Saffron is a must-visit.
Food was ok nothing special. service was good. staff were attending and friendly.
Outstanding! The staff were incredibly kind and friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. Excellent portions and price as well. We asked for recommendations from the server and her suggestions did not disappoint. When I travel for work I always try to go to an Indian restaurant and this was easily one of the best ones I ve been to. Can t wait to come back!
I ordered Aalo ka paratha today and I got this thick fat paratha without any aalo and just thick uncooked flour paratha, please never order from this place. It spoiled my mood, if restaurant can t even make basic aalo ka paratha, they can t make anything, seems like students are working at this place not the real chef.
Absolutely blown away by my experience at Saffron Indian Cuisine in Burnaby! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with such warmth and hospitality. The ambiance was inviting, and the aroma of the spices was refreshing. The food was an absolute delight! Each dish was bursting with flavor and authenticity. The Daal Makhni was creamy and rich, the Lachha Paratha was soft and pillowy, and the vegetable biryani was packed with fragrant spices. What truly stood out was the attention to detail and the use of fresh ingredients. Its evident that the chefs take great pride in their craft, and it truly shines through in every bite. I cant wait to return and explore more of the menu. Saffron Indian Cuisine has definitely become my go-to spot for delicious Indian food in Burnaby! Highly recommended
Tasty Biryani, loved it.would visit again. Update: Saffron was the first restaurant we dine in in Canada.. 5 years later, and this is the best Indian food in Burnaby and Vancouver, both in terms of taste and value Food
Wheelchair accessibility: Spacious Food
One of the best restaurants on my list. Recommended to all visit ones
Delicious thali platters. Lovely family-run place.
First, say Hi! to customers first. Make us feel welcome. Second, make eye contact and smile at customers. Thats one of your duties. Third, check the table often so we can feel serviced. If any of these are not satisfied, theres no reason to pay tips to servers. Please be professional. NO SERVICE, NO TIPS. Theres no free lunch. Simple as that.
I was just starving and passing by the street decided to have a dish in a random restaurant and it was saffron. The taste of chicken butter really surprised me with their amazing Nan comes with stew. The behavior of the host was very nice and the next time I will come here it wouldnt be by accident. Highly recommended.
Good food / Good service
Food is so good but so expensive
My fav!
service was great, also great atmosphere and very clean, however food was just lacking taste. I had the veg thali and it just was not tasty, also was not asked about spice levels. I prefer very spicy food, but this was a fail. The food was hot and fresh though
I ordered take out. I haven t been here in a long time but it s definately not like how I remembered. I ordered shahi paneer and it came with rice. The rice was really wet and soggy. Basmati rice should be dry! The shahi paneer was lacking flavor it use to be rich tomato-y cream flavor and the paneer use to be in nice firm chunks but now they dice it up and I didn t like it like that.
Super delicious food. Perfect flavour and good portions.
We ve always enjoyed the food and service at this place. I m writing this review after our dinner last night We ordered takeout and our order was ready when it we were told It would be. After driving home and opening our food, we were rather disappointed to find out that our main was missing. I called the restaurant and they apologize and told me that a replacement would be sent within half an hour with some fresh naan. Our butter chicken arrived with fresh and about 20 minutes later, along with an order of fish pakora Which we normally order, but didn t this time. Everybody makes mistakes occasionally, and the staff at saffron are on the ball when it comes to ensuring customer satisfaction Even when things don t go smoothly initially
Really nice Indian restaurant. The food here tastes really great. I go here often with my colleagues. Highly recommended their butter chicken it is so good Kid-friendliness: Definitely kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: No steps here
Amazing restaurant! Great taste & great staff!
Put your order 40 minutes before you go there. Too long waiting time for only one biryani. Food
Fantastic food and also not very busy prices are reasonable.
It s a good small restaurant if you want to have a delicious Indian food. The ambiance is superb, they have a special wall mounted with antique artifacts which adds to the aesthetic. We tried aloo tikki chat, kadai paneer and naan. Food is up to the mark for Indian taste. Must try if you are nearby Metrotown. Vegetarian options: Paneer kadai
Absolutely beautiful with the portions , quantity and quality. Great job team !!
Consistently decent food for a fair price.
Fast and friendly service and flavourful food.
Definitely our go to place for Indian
Good option for chats and shared dishes when in Burnaby.
Food was amazing. It was pure and fresh. Sneha provided extremely optimal service. We really enjoyed the music and ambience. Would love to visit again.
The food here is delicious. If you are craving Indian food, this is a great place to go!
Complimentary mathri and mint chutney. Ethnic and rustic infrastructure. Staff is very polite and friendly. Transit accessible- 5 minutes walk from Patterson station
We had a work lunch and decided to try Saffron. It was absolutely delicious! The butter chicken was perfectly spicy and rich! Best naan Ive had in ages. Great pakoras, tikka and samosas, too! The staff was lovely and accommodating. I highly recommend Saffron!
Food was good , but little pricy. Everything we ordered was good Vegetarian options: They have good vegetarian options available
Such an amazing place with such good food . So rich and homely in taste . Takes me back to homemade food in India . Must visit and vegetarian thali is a must . Food
They serve great foods. Mild spicey was perfect for me as I am not used to eating spicy food. I would recommend this restaurant to others.
I had parked my car in front of Saffron with the full intent of getting hot pot from the place down the street. But when I opened my car door, the aroma of Indian spices was sooooo tempting. Both the service & food were phenomenal. The wall of photos is charming too. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options, clearly marked.
Worst food Ive ever had..... As an indian i am ashamed to say this, but the food was really bad.. we didnt get the menu items that we ordered, and when we told that to the server, she said its not their problem its ours ... we were really disappointed that night...
Today I dined at the restaurant, the menu offered a diverse range of flavourful options, tried tandoori chicken, chicken Hydrabadi and the staff was so welcoming and offered exceptional service and ensure a delightful dining experience. Highly recommended!
First timer at Saffron and not disappointed! good food ( we are veggies, so can talk about that only) , good ambience. the service can be improved where you had to ask for some things more than once. overall good place to go for nice Indian food. they also had a thali for kids! Vegetarian options: Try the Papri chat
Didn t love the customer service on the phone and in-person picking up.
They increased their prices significantly in past 4-6 months. Like 6-8 dollar difference per dish. But the food quality has gone so down. The food tastes stale. The veggies arent fresh.I used to be a regular customer for 7 years but i guess i need to find a different place.
A rustic Indian styled restaurant, with walls decorated with old-fashioned photographs and accessories to depict the vintage Indian style. Regarding the food. The thalis especially reminded me of home but not so in the case of butter chicken. A little lesser tomatoes couldve sufficed. Though I am not a fan of lassi, but i must say the salty lassi is a must try. But somehow, the restaurant is a bit short-staffed I felt. The waiting time for us was almost 30 min! Thats a lot given that a hungry person counts on every minute before the food arrives. Overall a happy experience. Hope to visit it again and give the other dishes a try.
Good food and good service. Saffron Thali was very good, with then variety of curries and naan. It could have been great with better quality salad and rice, both were below average.
Delicious Indian food. As an Indian this is what Indian food taste like. Good and friend service. Try their shahi paneer and malai kofta. It s love.
I came to order while doing a dash at 9:30 and a women said they are not accepting orders anymore but when eventually she is a punjabi and punjabi people came over , she took the order right front of me for them. This is not at all correct . It deeply hurted my feelings . You should take action on this !
Honestly one of my favorite indian cuisine restaurants. You can smell the deliciousness from the sidewalk and it just lures you in. Average prices, about 20 dollars a plate but comes with rice. Definitely worth checking out!
Awesome food. Did catering and amazing food. Highly recommended.
Great
The food is just average. The amount of the food is very less compared with the price.
Great tasting food with friendly staff
Placed an order for butter chicken with rice and Naan and they forget half my order and send it out. If you cant read the bloody order d9nt work in food service save us all a big head ache.
Best beef samosas in the city! So yum!
Very good Indian food around Burnaby area. Friendly and efficient customer service.
I ordered their beef samosas, saffron thali, and grilled mix platter. Overall, the dishes were pretty solid. A few of the items from the grilled platter were dry and chewy. I liked the variety of sides from the thali. There are better tasting places for a cheaper price.
Such a tasteless biryani. It was so so so bad in taste. No spices no taste at all. Even after ordering spicy chicken biryani I got such a mild flavor. It was total WASTAGE of my money. No value for money. I didn t finish my dinner due to such a horrible taste.
Excellent food with lots of good quality indian dishes
The food was very tasty. The establishment itself is very cozy and stylish
We did an order delivery. Great service and delivery was on time. Everything was good and the portion was just right for the amount of people.
Place is dirty and unclean. Cockroach observed. Needs to improve sanitation.
Too good
Best butter chicken and pakora in town. We have been ordering from them for years and never disappoints. If you like pizza their pizza factory has the best meat lovers pizza!!
Sure, heres a coHad a disappointing experience at the restaurant. Staff was unwelcoming and displayed rude behavior.
My youngest son craved butter chicken for dinner. Googled Indian food near our house and came across Saffron. Its on a very busy street in Burnaby. So parking can be challenging. Try for the side streets. The restaurant was very inviting and warm. Atmosphere was lively. When we were seated, place was 3/4 full. Within minutes, packed. Staff was very friendly and helpful with our request. Even though place was busy, staff were quick with trying to take your order and we didnt wait long for our food. We ordered the Vegetarian Thali and Saffron Thali along with an order of Butter Lamb and Chicken Hyderabadi. We ordered a lot. All the dishes were delicious! Especially the Butter Lamb and Chicken Hyderabadi. All were perfectly seasoned. Chai tea hit the spot for me to end the night. Great place to bring family or friends. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Lovely ambience, chicken tikka, and curry. The staff were relaxed and friendly, food was good. I will be back tp try different dishes.
Food was alright, would not classify as authentic Indian food, but good for people of different ethnicities wanting to try it. Service was very slow when my friend and I went, the place is decorated very nicely. A little too dark inside but pretty. Wish they had better music, I personally think bollywood songs but instrumental versions would suit them and their vibe, rather than new popular songs.
Nice place
Super nice and beautiful Indian Cuisine restaurant!!!! Very tasty food and super beautiful interior! Highly recommend! 10/10
Its an Indian cuisine and if youre an Indian dont dare to go there. As soon as you enter everyone working there theyll stare you until you leave by yourself. Owner manager server everyone are so pathetic. The food is pathetic as well. Good for gora people who doesnt know a ahit about Indian food.
Usually I get tasty Indian food but this recent time I ordered I found what looks like a piece of a green glove in my food ?
2nd (and the last) bad experience with Saffron. Their food lacks taste. Ordered chicken biriyani yesterday and threw $21 down the drain.
Love the food, love the atmosphere and the service was amazing
Just two stars cause food tasted good but their staff has no hospitality they do not even bother to ask if one need anything they should truly change there staff for more good atmosphere the staff is really rude
So delichouse and customer service is great thanks to the waitress Sneha
This was the worst Aloo Pranthas i had ever in my life, no aloo simple uncooked pranthas no masala nothing, I don t recommend this to anyone, they didn t even send any chutney or pickles or anything along with pranthas, poor experience.
Love the food! Thali is super amazing! Their goan prawns curry is to die for! Vegetarian options: Plenty Food : 5/5 |
We got served by the girl SNEHA today. She was very rude towards my friend. She definitely needs to fix her tone. No need to reply YESS with such an attitude, she should be polite when responding to customers requests. We are not there for free food!!! Food is good but you guys need to work on customer service.
We ordered to go food it was not that great for test
One of the best Indian restaurants in lower mainland. Awesome food and also great for take out. They always have good service. You can also try their pizza next door. Definitely recommended.
I love this restaurant delish food and amazing service
Brought my family to this restaurant, we loved the food, the atmosphere and the restaurant itself. would definitely recommend.
Amazing food, good service, lots of flavour, very friendly staff! I will definitely be coming back. Vegetarian options: lots of options!!!
Saffron has some of the best Indian cuisine I ve eaten in years. The staff is so kind and sweet. Coming here just makes me feel like i m at home.
The staff were nice, the serving dishes were so nice too. Naan and the dessert were tasty. The food was not the best, although it was probably worth the price. I personally never leave my butter chicken, but today I didn t enjoy the taste enough to finish it. I don t think I d go back.
I booked this restaurant to celebrate my son s baptism. Manager Mandy and the rest of the staff provided an amazing service, and the food was delicious. While the butter chicken and the chicken tikka masala was tasty, the actual highlight dish that my guests and myself favourited the most was their beef curry which Mandy recommended. The food was brought out perfectly timed from appetizers, entrees, desserts to chai tea. We were well taken care of so everything went smoothly throughout the dinner service. My family and I would comeback in a heartbeat, thank you so much Saffron family!
We loved Saffron! I had some friends come to visit from out of town, and (by bad luck) someone came into the restaurant and took one of my friends bags when we werent looking and went through his things. The manager was so helpful. She let us view the security footage, and was very apologetic. Then she took two of the meals off of our bill, which was extremely kind. The food was above and beyond my expectations, probably the best authentic Indian food Ive ever had. The Tikka Masala was delicious, I still think about it! The atmosphere at dinner time was relaxed, and the dining area was very nice. Do yourself a favor and eat here!
You will get Beef secretly when you order and pay for Lamb
had diarrhea after eaten the take out
We ordered the Dahiwala Chicken (medium spicy) with Naan and Roti. Both the taste and texture were amazing. Since I came to North America this is the first time I found food so similar to what I used to eat back in India.
