4260 Hastings St, Burnaby, BC V5C 2J6, Canada
Legendary family-friendly spot known for hefty plates of rustic Italian fare that can draw lines.
I recently had a family dinner here which offered large portions, providing great value for the price. The food was extremely good, making the overall experience enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food at a reasonable cost
Anton’s Pasta is hands down one of the best in Vancouver! The quality of the food is outstanding, and it’s absolutely worth the wait in line. The portions are massive—you pay for one meal and end up with leftovers for two more days! This place has been my favorite forever, and I can’t recommend it enough for pasta lovers.
Got take out today. The lady who took my order over the phone was nice. My dad drove nearly 1 hour there and 1 hour back. We ordered 4 dishes and the garlic bread. We thought the portion of bread was small for $7. Their menu suggested we add balsamic and olive oil for an additional $3. It sounded good, so we added that. They did not pack it in our take out order. It was pretty disappointing that we got charged for it, they did not include it, and on top of that, my dad tipped. Why are we tipping if you aren't going to carefully check our order? Anyway, people make mistakes, but this is why i don't like tipping for takeout. How can i tip when i haven't tasted the food yet? The responsibility always seems to be on the customer to check the accuracy of their order. The chicken alfredo has the tiniest little scraps of chicken, which was so beyond overcooked. It literally looks like someone chewed up the chicken. My sausage and peppers dish had almost no sauce. The chicken and peas in a cream sauce smells like moldy cheese and tastes horrible. The food was just okay. Over $125 for an average dinner, missing an item, 2 hour trip .... not worth the money and definitely not worth the time.
One of the best Italian restaurants in town. Their food tastes great and they have super large portions, make sure to come hungry and I promise it's likely you'll still have food left to take home. The staff are also great and the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be visiting again 😊
Be prepared for a bit of a wait in line, though. If you're craving the house bread, just be sure to request it from the server! Big portions of pasta! Personally loved the meat lasagna. The white sauce was a bit greasy for me, but overall, it's a lovely place with nice servers.
Antons, since 1983, has been providing great food for decades. The portion sizes are huge, and we always have extras to take home. They use quality ingredients and are quick to serve. There's usually a line out the door, but it's worth the wait. They staff are very friendly and appreciative for the business. If you're in the area, I highly recommend you stop by for some delicious pasta.
Loved the food and experience. Got free bread and penne with sausage, feta and olives. All the dishes look so good though. When people say large portions, it’s not a lie! One dish can feed 2-3 adults which is an amazing deal. Service was efficient and friendly. Bathroom was clean. Only things would be that it is pretty packed and can be loud, with long wait times. So worth it though. Would happily come again!
I’ve always visited this restaurant while in Vancouver. It has changed quite a bit flavour wise , although sometimes I find that the plates either have too much sauce or not enough sauce and also the flavours aren’t really what they used to be. The risotto is good if you’re willing to wait for it. If you’re looking for a large portion of food, you can’t go wrong here, their service was quick because there’s usually a lineup outside of people waiting to get in. Update went back again October 2024 and it wasn’t great. I’m not sure what’s going on with the taste of the pasta sauces. But they were just bland. Portions are still quite large but the the flavour just isn’t there.
Only place in Vancouver worth going on for pasta. Great sauces and service, best portions and prices
Been couple decades since my last visit and it has changed. Portion is huge but it does not taste good at all. Will not be coming back.
It had been years, I got my old favorite, penned Antonio. It was oil based instead of creamy pesto how I remember and did not have the same flavors. There were 3 tomato pieces in the whole thing, the flavour was very lacking and no extra sauce to add to. My sons had alfredo and ir was basic , but as expected
The pasta is so good.
Its a great spot but long wait if you have a party of 8 or more but food and atmosphere is great
I came to this place because I always see long lines. We ordered two plates, and it was enough to feed us for three days, LOL! The food was delicious, and the price was very reasonable.
I was super hyped to try the pasta here. I got the classic meat balls with linguine and meat sauce. The taste is okay - and the meat balls were not my favourite. The pasta they use is massive and thick- not your regular spaghetti.
Portion size is ridiculous. Impossible to finish. One serving probably enough to serve two people. Food quality is good but not great.
Recommended! Huge portion, but if you want to share, you have to get a drink or dessert too!! Good price Good quality
It was one of the best food you can find in town. I m not a fan of big portions but the taste and quality was great
Always delicious!
Took my daughter for her birthday so good as always
Years later and it doesnt dissapoint
Careful not to order too much as one dish will feed two hungry men!
I am not the best to comment on Italian cuisine but this was not for me at least . Standard size , taste and ambience . It is worth visiting once and try for yourself and then decide . But one thing for sure now it is not worth waiting hours in line to try it , it is for sure 100 % not that good for sure . Vegetarian options: Nice veg options
Lots of food for your money, I would recommend to maybe share a dish if you cant eat a lot.
I showed up at 3:40 pm with a party of 5 people. They had just opened and we were some of the first guests for the day! This was my first time here and was excited to say the least as I have wanted to come and dine here for few years! We asked for a table for 5 and that 3 members of our party were right behind us finding a parking spot. We were told that we cannot be seated and to wait outside in the cold and rain until all of our party was together and ready to be seated. We were annoyed with this policy or whatever it was and honestly considered going elsewhere but with all the great reviews and hype we waited outside on the sidewalk .but fortunately our party arrived within 5-7 min and we were seated right away! Despite the forgoing, this place did not disappoint! Our server was quick, friendly and fun! The food was unbelievable, hot, delicious and the portion size was enormous. Most people dining in the restaurant during our sitting could only eat half the portion if that. Take away containers where sent to pretty much every table. Our bill was $147 for 4 people plus tip! . Our dishes ranged around $26 but keep in mind you get two meals as it is unlikely that you can eat even half of the portion served to you, so basically your getting two meals at $13,00! Cheaper than McDonalds! In ending this place was quaint, bright, clean and the server was fun! Food was fantastic, fresh, hot and clearly authentic home made Italian cuisine! Glad we stayed and definitely will be back! Parking: Lots parking around back, out front and side streets!
Anton s Pasta Bar offers huge portions, but the dishes are heavy on pasta and light on protein. Each person needs to order at least $21.50, which makes it more of a one-time experience. Not bad, but not outstanding either.
The dish is pretty generous which would easily be enough for 2persons, however, There is a minimum order of $25 per person.
Took my nephew Andrew and his girlfriend out tonight for his Birthday accompanied by my lovely wife Martha and some of my martial arts students and Tony (Mgr) was such an amazing host got us a searing for 7 and the food was incredible as always, the service excellent and overall the best night thanks to Frank and Tony and the staff. Highly recommend you visit this place it is a Burnaby icon and if you want real Italian pasta without flying to Italy it s here at Anton s. Thank you again Frank and Tony you are awesome! Tim H
Been the occasional family visit for many, many years. We get 1 or 2 pens on every visit. Last few visits the sauces have been less than the usual stellar. More watery than they used to be. Still the best pasta shop in Greater Vancouver. If anyone knows better, Id love to hear.
I always enjoy coming here with my wife. We have always been taking care with a friendly staff. Food
Been a face for a long time. Only thing that could possibly make this place better is if they one day paid tribute to the old Anducci s and put the Carnivore King on their menu ;)
Not worth the cost unfortunately. We were really excited to try it but the white sauce pasta was incredibly bland. Ive had good pasta before and this was not it.
Im not sure what all the hype is about but my first time trying it was TERRIBLE. The penne I order was overcooked (flat and squishy) and there was supposed to be fresh basil and feta cheese in it but none was to be found anywhere. There was zero sauce on the noodles (unless you consider grease a sauce) and the sausage was spicy which wasnt mentioned in the menu. Also, the online menu said it was $20 for pasta but my bill came to almost $32 with a soda. It was definitely NOT worth the money OR 15km roundtrip drive, Ive literally had pasta out of a box that tasted WAY better.
I love ordering food from them which I love and lately not sure why they aren t preparing my food the way I order. Last night in my order again I had requested them to add garlic which they promised me over the phone but didn t add in. I was bit disappointed but would have been nice if they had simply told me no they can t :(:(:(
Pasta was great. Staff was really great
Fantastic family friendly Italian restaurant remains a Burnaby Heights classic that doesn t disappoint. We came here with friends and shared 3 different pasta dishes, a salad and some focaccia bread. The wine and the dishes are an extremely good value. The pasta tastes freshly made. It is a bit of a time capsule, taking us back to the 1980 s Italian days vibes, you will see pictures both from Vancouver s past as well as many Nonna s and Nonno s. However, the best part of the evening was sharing a nice meal with wonderful people who become family too. Full Nostalgia Italiana! Will come back again!
So delicious food and so good service. This restaurant is my choice for ever.
Amazing, worth the wait, best Italian food Ive ever ate.
First time ordering take out and the pasta smelled funny but it s Anton s so who cares i woke up so sick and sad about it I hope the quality doesn t change with takeout deliveries as bad as this time
Overall not gonna lie, the food is disappointing honestly. I ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, the chicken was small and not much compared to the giant pile of noodles. The sauce had a weird flavor of nutmeg. They dont include bread, its an extra $.50 for a bun. Should be included and definitely should be garlic bread. Server was friendly and efficient and was able to explain any questions we had. Food came out hot. Did notice some fruit flies but nothing concerning. I wont bother returning and instead will go somewhere more local.
Delicious food always
They had 2 table free at 8pm and they were supposed to closed at 9:30pm. They didn t let in any couple while 6 couples waiting outside in line up! Moreover at 8pm we were told that they are out of chicken . Looks like they just opened the restaurant ! No need to mention they force you to pay full dish for each person To put in a nutshell: never trust social media ads to try cheap places . Tons of high quality and respectful in Vancouver just 20minutes drive from here
huge portions, cozy comfort food, great efficient service. my partner is already planning for you to go back!
Line up on Sunday evening Not welcoming staff They had some empty table but didnt let people in
The meal is amazing, I have been here 2 times on which it was very crowded which seems comprehensible to only give table to full parties however, this last time I came, the restaurant was completely lonely and they couldn t give us a table for 6 because 2 were just parking the car.
Why was there an attitude from the elder lady for not tipping? People do not tip for substandard service and food. Not to mention waiting outside for 30 mins at 5 degrees.
You need to order per person over $25. Vegetarian options: Yes, there has a vegan options too. Dietary restrictions: N/A Parking: You can street park if its not a busy hours, or should walk a few blocks Free parking is available on the street. Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Quite narrow in the restaurant...
A classic. Good pasta, huge portions. They have desserts also, but I cant say Ive ever had appetite left to order them. Parking: Street parking can be tough. There is a free lot nearby, but its typically full.
Massive food portion. Had to take it home to finish the next way. Very much well worth the price. My favourite pasta place. You can only pay by cash so be prepared.
Absolutely horrible food & service. I came to Anton s after 5 years, and it is not what I remembered. We waited over an hour to get in which was expected and we were okay to wait, but after we got inside it took 15 mins just to get water and order a drink. The food took 40 mins after that to arrive. The food was so bland and tasteless, very very disappointed considering how excited we were to have dinner here. We wasted 3.5 hours of our night to have dinner and walked out hungry. The server never asked us once about the food & we waited 10-15 mins again just to get the bill. Overall just horrible experience, ruined our night.
Food was good portion massive I couldn t even finish my food. The only one I could think of I could finish the whole plate of spaghetti is Joey Chestnut if you don t know who Joy is, is the world fastest eater
Big portions of pasta but hardly any meat or veggies.
The food could use a little more flavouring and the portions of pasta were hearty. But service was amazing. The staff were super friendly.
Went early at 5pm on a Saturday and waited about 20-30 minutes in the rain. But it was worth it. Service was great and food was delicious. Portions are large so youll have lunch/dinner the next day.
You will love it
Antons Pasta Bar no longer has a more reasonably priced lunch menu and that is a shame. I like their food, but at the prices they are charging now there is a lot of competition.
What can I say, I m amazed at how this place has checked every box, this was my first visit and it won t be the last. If you want true, traditional Italian food make Anton s your first choice. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
Food was MASSIVELY portioned and incredibly tasty. Shawn was our server, and honestly made the night. Super friendly and attentive. 10/10 would recommend.
Always so much food! Worth the line! They say it s not true but I think you get a little more when dining in vs takeout. The tondi nonna Angelina is my fav
Biggest portion of pasta you will find anywhere. The seafood pasta is the best!
One of our favourites for pasta, huge portions for pretty good price. We always have leftovers and definitely worth the wait!
I had a high expectations for this place - it was okay.
They used to serve buns to everyone, but it seemed like only select people as we didnt get any and couple other tables didnt get any but others did...didnt make any sense. But food was decent and service fast. Big portions
Mandatory at least $25-$30 spending for each person. So if you want to go there and grab a snack and share with your friend or partner, this is not a good place for you. Portion is high, but mostly is just pasta without other topping, no special taste and they charge you more than enough for that pasta. I reallized they had to bring bread for every table, but in my case, it was just random tables chosen by waitress. so we didnt get any. Nothing special about this place in overal. You can find better places with good portion, taste and less price in this city. The portion is the only thing that trick people to come here and no one couldnt finish their food. All tables were requesting for take-out boxes which means this restaurant trying to sell their stuff forcefully to people by their rule.
Amazing food, we Fett chk Alfredo, big portion for 2+ and great service! Our service was with Klara, she was so experienced, polite and had a beautiful smile on her face! I highly recommend try pasta in this restaurant and don t forget desert, TIRAMISU here!
Italian food: quality and quantity are both outstanding Place is clean Service is fast Food : 4/5
The food is so delicious and the portion is big. We order two pasta dishes for two adults and kids under 12 and I had enough to take it home for next day lunch for two. It is hard to come by with good quality and portion of food nowadays. Service was great as well. Overall a very positive experience
The food was great and the service was very good. Very satisfied.
The best Italian restaurant in Burnaby
I was craving some delicious and creamy pasta, and I asked my boo where to go. He said Antons Pasta Bar. Omg was he right. The chicken fettuccine alfredo was to die for. So creamy, delicious, and tasty. He had the meat lasagna. The service was good for how busy the place was and how in demand it gets. The atmosphere was very Italian and cute. I would 100% recommend this pasta restaurant. Five out of five plus an extra star. I just loved it so much.
My partner and I ordered Linguine Raffaele, Risotto Con Pollo Funghi E Pignoli, and Tiramisu for dinner and the food were scrumdiddlyumptious The portions are large so we ended up taking out half of each of the dishes Definitely worth trying out if you haven t Parking: There s free 2 hours parking lot nearby
The food here is awesome. Large portions. Dont have plans afterwards because this is your only plan now. Ignore the people who complain about the wait. They will most likely leave the line. You can laugh at them as they leave the line because they dont know what they were waiting for. If youre in a rush show up earlier. Worth the wait. Great atmosphere. Enjoy!!!
Lovely Italian restaurant where the portion sizes are HUGE!! Always have leftovers to pack for the next day. Been revisiting for several years now & the food is always solid!
Yes, they are huge portions. The staff are friendly and efficient. We waited 30 minutes to get in for the 3 of us. 2 people will get in faster....
Due to the unequal behavior of the staff, after 1:45 minutes of waiting, we had to give up and leave with the hungry children. We heard no plausible explanation for the injustice in the queue
Food is really good, homemade pasta thats hot and delicious. The portions are massive for what you pay, youll probably get at least 2 meals out of it. Best to go early and/or on weekdays, because you may have to wait in line for a long time otherwise.
Good food
Been going there every now and then for over 25 years. Food is as usual always good, although servings large, but part of the appeal and long line ups in evenings so usually try to go at lunch as shorter line up and sizes not quite as large.
Of you know about Antons then you know about the delicious dishes, huge portions, friendly staff, and perpetual line-up. If youve never been there, you really owe it to yourself to come by but I warn you... bring your appetite. Saying they have big portions is not an understatement. Food
I don t understand why this restaurant is popular. Huge portion size is annoying. The taste is far more than great. I would not recommend anyone go there.
Prices are now INSANELY expensive. Used to have lunch prices no LONGER. Jacked the lunch price then they tried, You can have the dinner portion for an extra dollar...Well that idea flopped. They used to disallow sharing ! I suspect they were challenged by a lawyer on that one. Weve been going for yrs, TODAY was the END. Why ? Now .50 cents per bun?.....NO JOKE. Four of us paid $150 combined; 4.50 each for unlimited POP and had FREE refills no problem... but its .50 cents for a bun? Ironically the butter included with the buns is more expensive than the buns !! Whos brilliance was to start nickel and dimming?.....Yes we noticed seafood portions have been cut back...Whats next? Would you like the standard chair or the premium padded upgrade for an extra dollar? SO CHEAP and its the principle. SHAME.
Said it was a 40 min wait over 1 hour and 45 min ago. Theres over 50 ppl in line and a BUNCH of empty tables inside but they wont seat anyone.
Yesterda, we ordered two patas from this place. Upon arrival after my son paid them, then they told him that they forgot to put the second pasta in the oven. They made him wait there for 20 minutes. Guess what when we open the food one of pasta was completely burnt. They didnt even have the courtesy not to charge for the pasta that they forgot to put in the oven and burn it. I wish this review let me upload pictures of the burnt pasta.
Finally able to upload pictures of the burnt pasta.
Update: We got Manicotti and Lasagna. They re delicious and I recommend them. The pasta in both lasagna and Manicotti was well cooked and the fillings were tasty. I have these few suggestions: - There is not enough meat(or chicken). I saw only a few pieces in lasagna and non in the Manicotti. The description for Manicotti states that it has chicken. I d like to get more protein even if this means lower portions. - There are so many tastes that don t belong to the dishes. The taste and the volume of sauce is overwhelmingly out of balance. I d recommend reducing the of sauce by around 30% or so. Previous review: It s really hard to rate this place. There are weird things that I wished I knew before going. There is a minimum order per person. Also, they don t accept tapping with Apple Pay so you have to bring your credit card. Other than those, it was a great experience. The food was terrific and lm happy with what we ordered. We got the pasta filled with mushroom and cream in the red souse and spinach. I m not vegetarian but it was one of the best vegetarian dishes I ve ever had. The cocktails were not bad. I think upon sitting, we should ve received a basket with buns and we didn t get it.
Anton s: A Culinary Destination Worth the Wait As a frequent visitor to Anton s, I can confidently say that they consistently deliver an exceptional dining experience. The quality of both the service and the cuisine is impeccable. While the wait for a table can be considerable sometimes stretching for nearly a city block depending on the time of day this in itself is a testament to the restaurant s widespread popularity and the excellence of its offerings. Once seated, the service is prompt, attentive, and well-coordinated, ensuring that diners are never left waiting excessively for their meals. The food, without fail, lives up to the anticipation generated outside. Anton s remains a go-to spot for anyone in search of a superb dining experience, despite the minor inconvenience of a queue. Bon appétit!
The best in pasta
If you re a fan of Anton s from way back like me, pretty safe to say you can skip it. We went for a walk down memory lane, and the quality has really dropped off. The portions are still hilariously large, and the prices reflect the current economy, but yeah, the quality was very disappointing. The sauce on my linguine carbonara was thin, there was very little bacon, and the linguine itself wasn t linguine. It was round, not flat. Our server was extremely pleasant and our wait in line was only about 30 minutes arriving @ 6:30 on a Thursday. Parking: Free after 6:00 p.m. Kid-friendliness: Yes
Me and my daughter loved this place! The pasta is so good and the servings are humongous. Best bang for your buck in Vancouver area! Vegetarian options: Lots
Insanlineup, insane food quantity. Just make it half price, half food
Disappointing Anniversary Experience After Years of Loyalty If you re like me and used to frequent Anton s Pasta Bar before the pandemic, prepare to be DISAPPOINTED. My wife and I took my parents here for their anniversary, hoping for the same great food and service we had enjoyed for years. We arrived early, anticipating the infamous long line, but the line wasn t as long as expected when the doors opened at 3:30 PM on Sunday. Once inside, it was warm and cozy, but things quickly went downhill. Within 10 minutes, they started blasting the AC, leaving my family shivering while waiting for our food. Service was understandably slow, as they had just opened, but things didn t improve. We ordered two appetizers: the Calamari Alla Marinara, which we ve always loved, and the Focaccia Bread Basket. When they arrived 20 minutes later, the calamari portion was noticeably smaller than before, drowned in far too much sauce to hide how little calamari there was. As for the focaccia, it wasn t a basket at all just five small slices on a plate, which was surprising since we remembered getting complimentary bread in the past. The real issue came with the pasta. We ordered three Frutti di Mare dishes and one Fusilli New Orleans, and waited an hour for them. One Frutti di Mare had a decent amount of sauce, but the other two were dry, as if they d run out. Worse, two of them were excessively salty, to the point that it was hard to eat. There was barely any seafood, a far cry from what we used to get. My wife s Fusilli New Orleans was also overly salty, with less chicken and sausage than before. The portions were still large, but only because they switched to larger pasta shells, likely to mask the lack of seafood and quality ingredients. To make things worse, prices have increased drastically from $18 to $28 per plate for food that is clearly sub-par to what we were used to at Antons. We could barely finish our meals and took the rest home, but even the leftovers weren t worth it. The cherry on top of this disappointing experience was when we left. As we got to our car, the waiter gave my wife a dirty look and shook his head in disapproval for not tipping. After everything, that was the final straw. We won t be coming back.
I had seen so many TikToks and social media posts raving about Anton s in Burnaby, so I decided to finally check it out. Unfortunately, it didn t live up to the hype for me. Yes, the portions are massive, but that was really the only highlight. We waited nearly an hour to get seated, and once inside, the experience went downhill. The food was underwhelming my chicken wasn t fully cooked, which made the meal quite unappetizing. The flavors were bland, and it just didn t match the excitement I had seen online. I was really disappointed, especially after such a long wait. for me, the quality and taste werent worth it at all.
Huge portion of carbohydrates only! you will find no proteins in your plate, pasta and sauce only. Make sure to request to have some protein added at an additional cost.
Great atmosphere, great food and great prices. We bought four plates of pasta between six people and still had leftovers for 2 days. We will definitely be going back.
This place is beyond amazing. Anytime you want pasta this is the all mighty place to get it!!!!
I had a fantastic dining experience! The atmosphere was inviting, and the food was delicious. Our server, Amir, truly made the evening special with his attentive service and friendly demeanor. He was knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. I highly recommend this place, and if you get Amir as your server, you re in for a treat
Love this place went back after 10 years, nothing has changed. Same great food, big portions enough to take home as well. Top notch service by Amir. Our kids loved it. Will definitely be back.
Love this place! second time in, and we started with the Calamari Alla Marinara (sauce was delicious, the calamari was okay- I personally prefer deep fried calamari!) and their fantastic Garlic Bread buns; then we had the Fettuccine Alfredo Con Pollo from the white sauce menu (it was delicious with a mild creamy flavor complimenting the alfredo sauce), Chicken Parmesan (Pollo Parmesana) with their amazing special Marinara base sauce and amazing Parmesan Chicken and cheese that melts in your mouth....and of course their absolute mouth watering Lasagna (meat) that was out of this world and worth every minute of the 45 minute wait! this is in addition to the 50 minute or so wait in the line outside!; but your know what they say: great things to ones who wait; I would recommend Antons to any food lover! its a flavorful journey!
I judge solely on food (everything else was great!), and sadly Anton s isn t what it used to be. The portions are as gigantic as ever, but the pasta itself is too doughy, even for fresh pasta, and the protein is rather lacking in any dish, even the pescatore that I ordered. The cream pasta was borderline not tasty, as the cream felt much too thick, probably due to the over-starchiness of the pasta. I wouldn t say the wait is justified.
Love their pasta but only thing which so odd is they asking a single person to spend $25 each to have dine in . Like in this on going recession you are forcing people to buy more food just for your profit.
This place never disappoints you!!
I had a terrible experience with their staff. The staff particularly the manager was very rude. They kept us for 45 min in the line outside the restaurant. While initially accepted our reservation they changed mind at the time of check in and said it s too late for us! She said we will let you in if you order at least 10 pasta for all of you (10 people)!! Very unprofessional and disgraceful behaviour.
This place is terrible. We were a group of 10, and they forced us to purchase 10 portions but didn t even allow us inside. There was no mention anywhere about a minimum charge per person, and they didn t inform us beforehand. After waiting for 30 minutes, they finally told us about their ridiculous policies.
Terrible customer service!!! Shame! We were a group of 10, they didn t let us go inside (after 45 minutes waiting to get inside) because they said every single of us had to order a minimum of 25$!!! But it wasn t written on menu or anywhere else.
Went there few days ago. The amount of food is actually huge but quality not the best.
Never get wrong with white sauce! Huge portion! Extremely reasonable price! Super tasty! $25 minimum/ person, umm, you have to calculate when order
Huge portions! Each person have to order a dish. The creamy white sauce was just ok, not flavorful. The fettucine creola was pretty good. Long line.
We chose to visit Anton s based on high reviews and recommendations from friends who had a good experience there. However, our own experience was disappointing for several reasons: - They enforce a minimum spend of $25 per person. This mean that you can t share dishes with your partner, something I hadnt seen recently in Vancouver. - If you arrive 1-1:30 hours before closing time as a group, dont expect a welcoming attitude. They seem displeased with customers arriving late in the evening. - Anton s has some unwritten rules that arent mentioned in their menu. The manager can make the these rules based on her feeling about you, which is unprofessional and disappointing. I usually just write reviews when I like a place, but this time, I felt it important to provide feedback to help both the owner and future customers understand what to expect.
they have a fruit fly problem :/ pasta was mid - sauce was aite but all the noodles were stuck together (not separated while cooking) Food : 1/5
As other reviews state, the quantity of food is enormous, however the taste is subpar. Not the most authentic Italian option, but good if you want a big meal.
They charging for bread now. Brought this rating from a 5 to a 3. The bread doesnt even come warmed up. Also, the pasta is not really piled high anymore
Great staff, big portions and a relaxing atmosphere. Great for an amazing lunch or dinner with your special someone and totally worth it.
There s always a big line up for dinner time.. Alway big portions, lots of leftovers to take home.. service is always good.
I am a customer for 20 years and they never ever disappointed me even when i do take out after I got kids..I only have Conchiglie Frutti di Mare all time and today the noodle is different. It tastes like over-cooked. One that they used to have was chewy and perfect match with cream sauce... also i could taste pepper too much. I am wondering if you are going so use this noodle for Frutti di Mare from now?.. this is very big disappointment..
I dont understand what all of the fuss is about? Waited for months to try this place after numerous recommendations from friends. We live in White Rock so finally once we headed to Burnaby this was our first stop. Called well in advance for pick up and they had our order ready when we got there, great. We ordered a carbonara, and it was....terrible? Adequate amount of sauce, noodles were cooked ok but completely flavourless. We gave it a 3/10 @ best. 27$ for a pasta I expected far better. Maybe their other dishes are better?? Will not be returning...
Very polite and attentive waiter. Excellent food. Worth an hour wait outside? If any place is, might be Antons. Food : 5/5
I am extremely disappointed with the service at your restaurant. Not only did we wait over 30 minutes to be seated, but our servers behavior was unacceptable. She(olivia) threw the receipt on our table and made rude comments about the tip amount, leaving us feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. Such impolite conduct is unacceptable and has ruined our experience. I will not be returning to your restaurant, and I hope you address this issue to prevent it from happening to other customers.
We recently dined at this pasta restaurant and were extremely disappointed with the service from our waiter, Olivia. From the start, she was rude and unapproachable, which put a damper on our entire meal. Even though we weren t satisfied with the service, we still left a tip, albeit a small one, because we believe in tipping regardless. However, Olivia s reaction to the tip was shockingly unprofessional. She made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, which was the last thing we expected during what was supposed to be an enjoyable dining experience. I wouldn t recommend coming here if Olivia is your waiter her attitude made what could have been a nice night out truly unpleasant.
I had a great time!! The food is delicious and totally worth it! The service is excellent and my server, Olivia, was super nice with my friends and I! 100% recommend
The best food and service! Made a trip to the mainland and was recommended Anton s by a friend, they did not disappoint! My waitress Olivia was very personable, professional, and helpful (I have allergies so I had a lot of questions), she even recommended some fun excursions for the rest of our trip. Amazing food and amazing people, I will definitely be back.
The best part of my experiences at Antons is always the excellent service and attention I receive from my server, Olivia. My one complaint is about some of the customers who seem to think its ok to bully and harass the staff at Antons. I have witnessed this on occasion and its very disturbing. Regardless, the servers remain very professional and give us the best experience. As for the food, its pretty good! I love that I can take home an extra helping for my lunch the next day because the servings are so generous.
Good taste, big variety and large portions
Best pasta in town worth the wait
Went on a busy Sunday evening. Waited in line for 30 mins, and as one party of 2 got to skip ahead in line. Very busy and noisy as always. Waiter was very attentive. Pasta and drinks were awesome. Appies and dessert were disappointing. This was not the food expected. I will try again when not busy to see if just a one of experience.
At least update youre google details and save people the travel time. Closed on 27th of August on memory of the owner
The restaurant was unexpectedly closed on Tuesday without prior notice. It would be more considerate to inform your customers in advance and update your operating hours on Google.
A bit of a wait to get in, best service I ve ever seen in a restaurant the waiter was extremely professional and the food was a super big helping.
Its worth the wait to get in! The portions are more than generous, the staff if very friendly, the atmosphere is inviting and the food is superb.
I always enjoy their pasta, no doubt theres always a long line whenever we go there.
Its great home made pasta
Meatballllllll :))))))
Big portions. Good food. No reso+long wait = strategic visit or avoid. Plenty of good Italian in town
Great food and great place, you will not leave hungry (possibly with lunch for tomorrow on leftovers). A must go in Greater Vancouver! Food
Waiting is crazy. Food is okay. Service is good Our food was smaller portion and bland. We had to all add salt. Just lacking flavour. Definitely no longer the same as before. Sadly. Food
Got the Penne Antonio and was delighted with both the serving size and the flavours. Deeeee-licious!
Absolutely great place, incredible food and portions.
Great food, get there early!!
Perfect family time!! The food was incredible!! Food
huge portions, amazing pasta, I come back here time and time again because I can t get enough
Nice service with very good people working there.
Do not order take out! For $26 this is not worth it. We used to come here for dine in and we would each leave with TWO containers. Food is good but would just dine in next time...
I have been coming to this place since 2002 always being a great advocate for the quality of the food and service. I have introduced this place to lots of friends and family, invited them and encouraged them that the food is well worth the long wait. But today after the way we were treated and the very poor customer service. I will not be going back.such a HUGE disappointment . We started with 7 people and then one guest decided to join us. All of a sudden 2 of the staff came to us attacking that this person who had joined you now need to pay18% gratuity and the rule of per person .applies which I didn t understand and never aware of. I was so disappointed and shocked for their behaviour and the guests were so upset as they explained Why are they treating us as if we ve committed a crime, what is wrong with them they really wanted to leave, we apologized to our guests as we didn t want to create more tension. After waiting sooooo long over 2 hours in the line, this was not how they should serve their customers. The Size of the food had shrunk and the quality had changed. We could hardly find chicken on our dish, the quality of the sauce had changed with very poor quality . It was a total dissatisfaction!!!!!! Olivia and 2 other staff might need some coaching as they were in my opinion very rude and inexperienced.
Excelent place and one of my all-time favorites!!
warm atmosphere with a homemade feel to the dishes. the portions are still quite substantial and this has been my favourite spot all my life. i go out of my way to visit whenever im back home.
Altho the wait can be a bit long, once you finally take your seat and get that long awaited plate its so worth it, and the service was impeccable- Amir was such a great server, we will be back time and time again.. the food was so great as always!
Great food. No reservation. Line up. Serving sizes are twice what an average person can eat. Expect to spend $25-30 and there are unlimited refills for soft drinks.
Came Saturday morning to wait for open, fast to fill up all tables, everyone seemed to be happy to order one huge portion of spaghetti for each person. We wanted to try their baked dishes ( Anton s manicotti and cannelloni alla fiorentina) and happied to wait 30mins and left with the unfinished pasta in two boxes to take out. We didn t get the free bread, probably she thoughtfully think that the coming dishes were very enough for two person.
Absolutely unreal food, incredible staff and overall a wonderful experience. Cant wait to come back!
Have been coming to Anton s Pasta for the last 9 years. Very good sized delicious portions. Have always ended up taking the rest to go as never been able to finish lol. All pastas are fresh and delicious would highly recommend this place if you re looking to try out a new Italian pasta place that you may have not eaten at
Food portions are huge, however, I do think there might be a more efficient way to deal with the wait lines. The food was okay
The place to go to if you want really big portions and don t want to make lunch or dinner for the next day. Staff are also very helpful.
So much food
If you are hungry for dinner, are you willing to wait outside for 45min in the cold rain? Everyone is doing it and they know why. Wait, lets try something; Imagine the sweet aroma of pesto and roasted garlic, with woffs of boiling pasta and fresh bread. The staff is hussling here and there serving about 20 tables. Patrons are big-eyed and smiling with massive portions of penne or linguini all the smells that fill the air. Laughter and pure joy fills the room and saturates your soul to it s core, inspiring you to make this memory last for along time - it will be a good time and Italian food should be synonymous with such joyous occassions. Now go back outside to your spot in line. Don t worry they will take your name and it will all be worth it because there will be more tomorrow; in the container like everyone takes home with them after they re done.
THEY DO NOT MISS! Huge portion sizes, lots of options on the menu! Ive never left feeling hungry or disappointed!
Awesome place. Just line up early ahhh so good Fast, tasty , and good price thats worth the 5 stars. Food
Very busy. Expect to wait if arriving anytime after 6pm.
Best Pasta place ever. I go here as often as possible
Delicious. Big portions !
Huge massive portions but very mediocre food. Lasagna was probably the worst most bland lasagna I ve ever had. Tastes like Prego sauce.
One of the best!!
The line at the restaurant says it all. Portions are massive. I wouldn t complain about it in this economy. Price is reasonable. I would recommend their baked dishes.
The food is good . Big plates. Young staff is friendly but the older lady is rude. Rushes you and just seems unhappy, maybe time for her to retire
I have been to Antons 3 times over the past 15 years. I go there about once every 5 years and experience the following: The Anton Cycle Experience: - see people always lined up outside and think it must be good - Wait in line for 2 hours - receive a large portion of mediocre pasta - wonder why on earth you stood in line that long for such mid pasta - decide you re never going back - forget what you told yourself over the next few years And repeat - forget
This is a must experience
Antons is so good, its flavours are amazing and portions are huge for the price. Be aware if youre going for dinner go early, because the line is down a few stores once the line starts!
I ordered takeout from Antons pasta and was quite disappointed. The order was prepared wrong and was cold by the time I got home, even though the packaging was sealed well. I specifically ordered the Penne Antonio with my customization but instead got a Fus Toscana as it was bland and lacked the creamy sauce, and moreover, it was overcooked Additionally, the portion sizes were smaller than expected for the price. The overall quality did not justify the cost, and when I had a word with their manager he sounded rude and started convincing me that I ordered the food wrong. Anyway, the place has lost its touch and quality and l wont be returning in the future.
Amazing , Its been 3 years , Im going there and will go again for sure. Always, there is a lineup. Usually takes 20 to 40 min to get in but its worth it ,I recommend all my friends , all food have diffrent taste and you should try for sure , make it short , in love with Antons
This is a Vancouver staple !
Weve been here once before and had a good time. The reputation is accurate about portions and lineup outside to get in. Today we left irritated. We waited in line for 45 minutes. Fine we expected that. But then we waited for 45 minutes for our food after we ordered! We are two people so it was 2 paste dishes. We watched 3 other tables get served that were seated after we ordered. We then set a timer for how much longer we were going to wait and it showed up 5 minutes before we were going to walk out. We were so annoyed at the wait time that we were no longer hungry and couldnt enjoy what we ordered. The server didnt talk to us after we had ordered. No refills on the water, not even eye contact for 45minutes of sitting at the table. When the food finally came out she left and came back after a few bites and I asked why it took so long to come out and she said it was because they are so busy. And I mentioned that others were served before us and packed up and left and she said there are 2 chefs and they do separate areas and the others werent her tables. But we saw her serve at least one of the other tables. The food here is good and we like it. However the service today was terrible. This was an awful first date after getting married.
I like the manicotti at Anton s Pasta Bar, and the atmosphere is great. The portions are generous, which explains the long wait times. However, they don t allow sharing, so each person must order their own meal, which can be too much food. The pasta is tasty but nothing extraordinary, making it feel a bit overrated. Still, it s worth a visit for the experience.
Not worth the hype. Not worth the lineup. Not worth the food. It s just that you would get huge quantity. They have a minimum spend policy so even if you get huge quality the food is wasted as you cant share.
I ate all the noodles. I got the Pen
We ordered takeout for 6 people and the whole experience was very disappointing. First of all, two of the dishes we wanted were not available. We then received the wrong order for one of the dishes and when we called to tell them, the manager was rude and suggested we made the error when ordering. At first, they wanted us to bring back the dish and said they would add the missing meat sauce. Finally, they agreed to give us the missing dish and asked us to bring back the other one. We did not receive any buns with the order (we had previously). Two of the dishes were linguini but the pasta looked like udon noodles. The noodles were soft and mushy. Very disappointing experience and we will not be ordering from Anton s any time soon.
Theres so much Im sick of it
