Amazing experience and food! Really worth the money! Friendly staff and delicious food, good for family events, get togethers, even if you want to go with two. I highly recommend this place.
We were a party of 3 adults and 1 child. We were seated immediately and we ordered the BBQ for 2 and a seafood pancake. The portions were more than enough for the 3 of us and we had to doggy bag a good portion of it. We asked that they BBQ the items in the kitchen as less messy for us and safer with the child around Overall the BBQ meats were cooked to a nice tenderness. The galbi beef ribs were a little too sweet though. The seafood pancake was crispy on the outside and chewy inside. There was also a good variety of side dishes. They have "rooms" for larger groups. Reservations are recommended if you have a large group. Bear in mind that parking can be a challenge.
Unfortunately, food was disappointing. Ordered the spicy pork back bone stew. It was bland and not spicy. Generous amount of meat but it was not tender. There were only 2 servers for a busy restaurant so service was lacking. Did enjoy the homemade kimchi.
This place has been around for awhile and my family and I used to come here few times a year. Covid happened and we kinda forgot about this place. We used have get the big inside tables that can accommodate 12-14 of us. Haven't been back since 2020 and forgot how good it was. Ask them to cook the meat in the kitchen if you don't want to bbq the meat yourself! The BBQ combination is worth it, $150 + Tax for the 4 of us.
I always come here once while because I live in the neighbourhood. I think I came about five to ten times. Every time I only ordered Combo A ($95 included tax and tips) for two people Or Big pot of beef noodles ($75 included tax and tips). Because this restaurant very expensive on the menu The meat tastes really good but a lot of MSG. The beef noodle soup pot no taste. You need to add salt and chili powder to eat it. In last 4 years the service never been too good even though they were not busy. I don't recommend to eat here.
I haven't been to this restaurant for a while but almost 20yrs ago I would go often when I lived nearby. I was close by and craved it. The food remains delicious... All the little side dishes are yummy. The meat for the BBQ met my cravings. The service hasn't always been the best because I feel they are always understaffed. Always very kind. Just ring the bell if you need something because the servers don't check in on you to ask if everything is fine. I just went up to the counter to pay the bill. I will be back if I'm near the area.
hilarious i went there it was dead very spacious inside booth seating good very but because i dont have enough friends to fill the booth very spacious good enough for my very wide shoulders. food was good the chicken looked very scrumptious but like the waiter at the end gave the bill to the girl like i found that hilarious like its so not expected like usually they assume the guy will pay but the server gave it to the girl like hahah will come back just because of that 10/10 the corn tea was not very good
Great quality food, and a surprising amount of meat came with the beef tongue dish! Usually I find other Korean restaurants only give 8-10 pieces but you can see the generous amount in the attached picture. Great service as well, and it seems quite popular so booking a table is beneficial. Will come back again!
Friendly servers and great food. Will definitely be back.
Came all the way here and it is closed for renovation? Without notice
The food was not fresh, and I had diarrhea after eating it.
A little bit of a hidden gem being located amongst an industrial area in Burnaby. Some of the best Korean cuisine I have tasted in the lower mainland! The black bean noodle is a new favorite for me; banchan was delicious and servers happy to refill them.
The barbecue meat was very tender and delicious. The set beef bone soup and various banchan were delicious, and I was able to enjoy the dishes from start to finish. It was my first visit to this restaurant, but I would definitely like to try other menu items next time.
We go there for dinner. Order BBQ combo for 2. $79.99
Shabushabu with rice at the end will be great
Good foods and excellent service!
great food , n they accomdated my food preferences.
5 star experience.
Very good service. Food is very home made flavor and comforting. The beef bone meat could be more tender though.
Good place, There are not many options in the buffet
This place was very very good, I come here everytime I want korean food. The bbq is very good with a good price but the hotpot wasn t super good. The service was fast and the staff were nice. The atmosphere is really cool, with bbq stations, regular tables, and private rooms.
Seafood pancake and Bibimbap are good.
Perfect
I saw a mouse running around in the restaurant while dining twice. It was a terrible experience that I never want to go through again.
This is a very bad hotel. The service attitude was extremely poor. The waitress had hostile eyes and even had a quarrel with the customer. This is the worst waiter I have ever seen, and the price is expensive. I will never go again. Someone has already agreed with my evaluation. It seems that this hotel is really bad. If I were the boss, I must improve it and fire the waiter who had an argument with the customer. This is a very bad restaurant. The service attitude is very bad, the waitresses are hostile and even quarrel with customers. This is the worst waiter I have ever seen, and the price is expensive. I will never go there again. If I am boss must Fire a waiter who had an altercation with a customer.
A must-visit for out-of-town travellers. The staff is friendly and very helpful (to a first time Korean BBQ diner). The food is phenomenal
5/5 and well priced
We were there for a birthday celebration with a group of 7. We divided the group by two because half of us don t eat meat and only eat chicken. When we asked if we can have extra sauce on our food our server Hana said it s IMPOSSIBLE and again we asked how about having some extra sauce on the side and she again said it s impossible. When we were paying for our food we said can we divide our bill into three again she said it s impossible. Now it s IMPOSSIBLE for me to leave a good review for Hana as she had a rude tone everytime we asked for anything. I decided not to pay a tip and she had the audacity to tell me I need to pay 15% and I paid tip in a separate transaction. Food was yummy but I would never go back because of their service.
totally garbage, no service, terrible foods
Notice Side dishes can t refill But not show on MENU BTW, Foods are good
It was great service, great food and great company. great place to celebrate my husbands birthday with his family:)
Share food with many other people. The food are westernized taste was not bad.
It s everything you d expect from a Korean bbq place, which means delicious meat sets. Unfortunately, their kimchi isn t the best and was starting to spoil and sour a bit. I thought their stone rice bowls were also not great in terms of meat amount. Those two reasons are why the two stars are docked off.
I highly recommend Hanwoori Korean restaurant , the food and the service was really good . Nice and spacious place. They also have the traditional Korean table and floor area where people sit on the floor to eat their meals. Parking: There s a parking in front of the restaurant if it s full you can find a free street parking .
Amazing food! Came here twice with a group of 4, and 7 and both were great experiences. The kitchen was efficient and we got our food really fast. The waitresses were so kind and very accommodating. I ll keep coming here :) Food
Fantastic Korean spot with great Tuukbaeggi Bulgoggi! All juiced up with veggies, rice cakes and even an egg. Tremendous side dishes too. I will return to try the BBQ!
Waitress automatically adds 30%tips to your bill even you are only party of two ,be careful
Hanwoori had good food, very nice. Not too expensive for a BBQ, but mind that the atmosphere is quite loud. Servers are very friendly. Would visit again! Parking: Arriving a little early (5 45 ish and leaving at 7 15) makes a lot of parking. If you arrive at 6 30- 7, youll just be able to beat the parking rush.
We been there almost 10years and this is my mom favorite place but I was really disappointed with the quality of their service. In the beginning I pressed the button for call them, they just ignored us I pressed 5 times finally one person came, Im working with customer service too but at least they could say can you give us a moment Ill be back or something. After that we order the beef brisket , the lady throw the all meat in bbq grill with out asking , we thought shes gonna cook for us but after that she just left, she dont even bring the rice for us. First time I feel I dont want to give them tips.
Terrible attitude from service staff.
The food was amazing but the service was terrible. Trust me the food it s another level super delicious but the costumer was super bad. She (the server who doesn t have a name tag) put the food as she was playing bowling.
The food was good but the service will leave a disgusting taste i your mouth when your done. Servers need to take a safety course for portable hotpot stoves they use, ours malfunctioned and cause a huge fire ball almost injuring everyone at the table. I told the staff about the incident and they argued these stoves were supposed to do that. We asked for some extra side items but they never brought it to the table. When i asked for a plate of lettuce the server said it was out of stock however the table next to us got a big plate served to them. Clearly the staff doesnt care about their partrons they will lie straight to your face when they dont feel like serving you. The owner of this business needs to reconsider whos managing it because they are destroying it it from the inside out.
Been many years since Ive been to Hanwoori. The hot stone bibimbap with galbi rib and topped with a fresh egg yolk was quite filling. Mix it up with some hot sauce and cook up the yolk on the hot stone bowl. Great meal for a cold day. Update: Still one of our go-to places for Korean food in the area. Got the japchae and combo for 2. They do allow substitution for a cost.
The #1 worst service Korean restaurant in Burnaby and they are real famous for attitude issued. Even though I live in Burnaby, I dont go to this place. Are you out of business? Ive called more than 10 times but I cant get through? I went there in person at 4:50 PM. Its not that busy, but a customer comes and Im standing there and he doesnt even look back. He says something blunt: It takes 30 to 40 minutes for takeout. I ordered soup before that, but they put it in a silver container, so it spilled all over the car, so I called to complain, and the male employee changed the owner. I tried to console him for a moment, but then I heard a voice on the other end of the phone: Answer the phone, sis, I m 18×1. I m so damned. I was dumbfounded. This senseless restaurant that gives double insults to customers who complain should be completely destroyed in today s times.
We saw a mice in the restaurant under the table. We informed the waiters about the issue. Not only they did not close the restaurant they kept getting customers and taking orders. They also charged us and the other people in the restaurant for orders as nothing happened. This is terrible as it is related to health and safety and should be addressed.
Very fast service. Almost too fast lol Clean. Tasty. Reasonably priced. Good amount of food. Very friendly staff to my young son.
Excellent food very friendly ATENCION very good I recommend to visit and enjoy the food
Thank you for fixing the order error! Thank you for the great service and food! Much appreicated! Keep up the good work!
Worst restaurant I ever went. It is so cold in winter that your feet would be frozen, so what you want to do is to finish the meal ASAP. Poor service also that you need wait much longer for any service, and the server is definitely unhappy with their job. Never ever go again.
Hanwoori is one of my favorite restaurants in Burnaby. I left 5 star review one year ago, but regrettably I have to downgrade my review based on my recent visit. The foods were good as usual. There had been good severs but they moved to other restaurant. The new sever was quite unpleasant. Not sure why. But at least server should not make clients uncomfortable. Spending almost $100 per person, we don t want to have hurt feeling.
Overall, very good first experience. Very nice sides and portions. Had nothing else to compare it too. Did have to prompt for our rice and our dumplings that we asked to come out first. They were unable to split the bill either.
Raw ribs recognized as the best in Vancouver. Marble is a work of art and feels like it melts in your mouth!! Restaurant
High quality meat, responsive service, and the private rooms are great. The main dining area got a bit too smoky when the place was full.
Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were disappointed to find a lengthy wait for a table. While we expected a short turnaround time, we ended up waiting for 25-30 minutes even though there were 2-3 empty tables of the appropriate size. Once we were seated, we placed our order, but were unfortunately served a side dish with a hair in it. In addition, we were disappointed to see that the prices on the menu had significantly increased since our last visit. To top it off, the service was not up to par. When we inquired about the busyness of the restaurant, we were told that this was not even peak time, which left us wondering how long the wait would be during busier periods. Based on our experience, we do not recommend this restaurant and suggest looking for other dining options.
Seafood Jjampong is my recommended . Plenty seafood with al dente-noodles
Good parking place. We ordered ShaBu ShaBu course menu & Jinro Soju, beers Very fresh meats & vegetables Very delicious Very good kindly serving, price is med. level.
Best foods and best services. I and my family have been their clients for more than 10 years. Highly recommend
Worst customer service experienced. Nothing is organized, they dont even care you walked in or waiting.
Do not come here. Waited 40 minutes and the server just FORGOT our order. It wasnt even crowded... unacceptable hospitality for a restaurant. Very careless waiters as well.
When entering the restaurant you are greeted with a gallery of past gold stars this restaurant has earned. These do not lie as the Korean food at Hanwoori is some of the best I ve ever had. Almost every aspect of its food is flavourful and delicious. From the main stars of the bbq items to the side dishes and even the small appetizers they offer. The prime rib cuts were wonderfully marinated and melt in your mouth, the seafood pancake is fluffy yet crisp, and the fried noodles are chewy and well seasoned. Even the small side dishes, such as the kimchi and the Korean potatoes are faithful to their traditional recipes and a delightful mix of flavours. It s no surprise that the best Korean food in the Greater Vancouver area is here.
Ridiculous wait. Was coming and wait for an hour. There are 1 group ahead of us and they are prioritized for those make reservations. No standing table for walk-in customer. 2nd time it s here and it s the same thing
High quality meat with reasonable price -food was yummy . The service was great but better make a reservation if you don t want to wait especially on the weekends. Def will come back.
Gopcheong hotpot is really delicious. Experience it in Vancouver
Hanwoorie Restaurant is so good! One of the best places in Burnaby to eat korean food, great flavours, big portions with fair prices. It s a little small and you may have to wait for a bit specially during the weekends but worth the wait.
Had great late lunch here! Food are fresh and tasty
I had tripe hotpot, but the smell of meat was coming from everywhere, so I was craving meat.. haha.
The rice, the most basic of basics, was undercooked. They brought it back to me, but it was also undercooked. Its such a pity
BBQ is not good. They are not fully equipped for Kbbq and our table cooked meat on a portable butane grill. It was too low power to get good flavour/browning. The meat (combo for 2) was swimming in liquid and not worth the cost. Seafood pancake and fried Chicken are good but way too expensive (~$30 each). I was very disappointed.
Food is ok, but customer service is so bad. We waited 20mins for a table, even there was an empty table, non of the girls helped us to set up the table. We asked to split the bill, the girl told us the machine cannot do it
I would definitely recommend ordering korean bbq combo, the meats are well prepared and tasty~
First time visit. Just had a small retirement dinner for my wife with a few friends. We got the BBQ for four, as well as a couple of other dishes. The food was delicious, good portions, and the service was great. Would recommend Hanwoori to anyone!
My family and I decided to try out this Korean restaurant on Imperial (near Kingsway) for a weekend lunch with our young kids, expecting a nice and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, our visit turned out to be very disappointing due to the terrible attitude of the staff (especially the lady with an arm tattoo) and the unequal treatment we received. The restaurant was not busy at the time, yet the lady with the tattoo displayed an extremely negative attitude towards us. This was in stark contrast to the way another table of Korean patrons (we are not Korean) at nearby tables were treated. Not only did they receive more attentive service, but they also got a greater variety of complimentary kimchi dishes. It was very disheartening to see such discrimination, especially considering that we were there with young kids. I asked the 2nd round of kimchis and was only sent two dishes. And for the 3rd time, we were refused kimchis because she said our order was not enough. Hey, we ordered $30 CAD dishes for each of us already! I have never been this angry after dining at a restaurant. The poor service and blatant favoritism ruined what should have been a pleasant family lunch. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place to others. There are many other Korean restaurants out there in Burnaby with great food and, most importantly, respectful and courteous staff.
Food is great and service is alright. They got a new crew and much more friendlier than last time.
Great place;)
My friends and I love coming here for bbq! Delicious meat, great quality, and great service. Price is reasonable for what you get. Japchae was amazing! After finding out, my friend has come here 3 times in one week!
Dependent on when you go! Don t come when they re busy!
The food is exceptionally good but at times the service leaves a bit to be desired. One day we were seated at a table in the corner and completely forgotten about after we placed our order. The staff apologized and did their best to correct the problem but it was disappointing.
Parking is too difficult, the barbecue is pretty good, but not much else. The kimchi was over pickled and sour. Parking: Its too difficult to park and there are few parking spaces. Most of the time on the street is 1 hour, which is very troublesome.
The taste is average, but the price is above average. In the beginning, when we got there, we waited almost 20 mins, and a lady finally came and brought us to a seat; almost giving up waiting and switching to another restaurant, but the waitress who helped us was very kind and friendly.
Check your bill carefully, double charge happened
Food was below average. Use to come here years ago but will never return. Prices have shot up but food taste and quality have gone done drastically. To top it off the service is horrible, servers were extremely rude. And one male server acted out after asking for refill on napkins...
Its really delicious. A restaurant full of taste and kindness with a diverse menu. Lets see next opportunity.
Long waiting time
Gets really busy during meal time. One of best Korean BBQ in Burnaby.
Very good Chinese restaurant!
Ordered kimchi & pork stew to go, and realized there is not even a full piece of meat in the stew. Feeling scammed and it is not the right way to run a business
The food is only ok, I wouldn t bring friends here for Korean food, it s just ok
One of the most popular restaurants in Vancouver. Food: The meats are fresh and there are many choices. They will season the meat well and they are so tasty. Service: The service is good, the waiters there are nice. If the pan youre using burns, theyll always help you replace it with a new one. Atmosphere: Traditional Korean design. There are private rooms, suitable for family gatherings
Good food. Goto restaurant for Korean food
Unfortunately a few very rude servers, made the experience unpleasant. Food is usually good though. Be prepared to make reservations days in advance to get a spot, or wait for 1-2 hours without reservation.
Had a happy Fathers Day here. I am very satisfied with the meal.
Portions were really small and the meat and soup were super bland. Good service though
Food is delicious
As a Korean, this is one of my FAVOURITE Korean food spots in BC. Very authentic, especially the Kimchi Soup. All meats are of great quality, every soup we have ordered was cooked to perfection. Hard to find authentic Korean restaurants like this in Canada. Its really delicious! Most Korean restaurants in Vancouver are disappointing... but since coming here, Ive been coming here often because I feel like Ive found a really good restaurant. If youre a Korean, I recommend you come here and try it when youre craving steamed Korean food. The servers are all very friendly, and the order bell is convenient and nice.
Sides are apparently refillable, server didn t mention and wasn t friendly food was good.
Service staffs attitude is very bad
The server is so bad, but the food is okay
Cheap and delicious
The waitress help us with the grill of the meat both times I gave 4 stars because one kind of the meat was too fatty to eat Parking: We came around 1-130pm so parking was easy to find
Delicious fried chicken and Decent portions. I asked for the ginger chicken soup but Im not a fan. Sorry Food : 4/5
Great service, the meat is really good. They help you start grilling. Unlimited side dishes is the best part!
Food is good but the service is real bad. The attitude is like Yeah yeah we dont care. We even need to get the toothpicks by ourselves!
Great, friendly service. I m not Korean and server very helpful. Good amount of food for price.
Decent food, racist waitresses and not serving other Asian people. We were waiting for 15 minutes and they kept ignoring while serving Korean customers only even though they came after us. What was that attitude about? They were nice enough for Koreans, cannot do that to other Asians? We sat at table 3.
Amazing spicy seafood noodle and hot stone pibimbap! Would def come back again :)
Cheap price come at a cost. Low quality ingredients that make you feel sick, even though it s taste delicious. You can tell the banchan is stored for weeks, and they re still serving to customer.
Prime rib is very nice quality. Beef tongue js also tender. Portion is quite big. Good value for money
Food here is pretty good, and theres quite a few tables for 6 people, so its good for bigger parties. Sometimes for dinner/late night they get really busy and there can be quite a wait.
There is a big table that can seat ten people. I ordered a set meal for 7 people, a tripe hot pot, which was generous in portion and tasted good. The seafood pancake is always delicious
Hamwoori was a great experience. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. One of the things I appreciate about this restaurant is how you have the option of having all of the BBQ items cooked for you if you dont want to cook it yourself. Service was efficient and good. One point to note: if they are busy, they do limit dining to two hours. Which, depending on your party size and if you are cooking the BBQ items yourself, may potentially feel rushed. Atmosphere, its a nice restaurant, smaller in size but had nice areas sectioned out for larger parties. Overall very happy with experience and would recommend going there.
Customer service is not very good. Food is too salty. BBQ is okay but everything else taste not good.
Food are ok. I love the black bean noodle. The price little bit expensive
Worst Korean Restaurant experience.
Food was good as usual. Service was exceptional, they insisted on doing the BBQ by the table for us. Seafood pancaked tasted a bit different from the other places, they are not as crispy, but it got a lot more seafood inside. Parking: Has free store front parking but the space is limited, we somehow still able to find parking each time.
Nice food
Chumchurum (17.95) / Makgeolli (16.95) / pork belly (29.95) / black bean noodle (12.95) / kanpungi (36.95) / pork bossam (42.95) / seafood hot pot (58.95)
Dirty food with dirty ingredients. Banchan is stored for too long and it made my stomach hurt. Never be back again!
Bbq combo was phenomenal, and the portion was generous. service level a bit disappointing but passable due to how busy the restaurant is.
Hanwoori restaurants bossam is made with both pork neck and pork belly, which is different from what you might commonly see made with just one type of meat like pork neck or pork belly. This restaurant, which has been operating for a long time, offers a menu that allows you to choose according to your preference when you come with a group. After finishing the hot-pot noodles, they provide additional options, making porridge, which is also great for kids to eat.
We were so hungry and looking for korean food on the way to vancouver. We left full, i just have to mentioned that our beef fried rice had 1 tiny shrimp left in it even our veggie soup! Please be careful, there were only few tables when we came there
Worst Korean restaurant ever! What a shame!! Dirty food and bad service. Never be back again
I wont post any pictures. Spoon replacement. Replaced 2 bowls. This is the first time Hanuri has changed the dishes several times because they were dirty and covered in red pepper powder and red pepper paste. Its really dirty. There was no apology from the employees. Its an expression of annoyance. Proper employee training... please...
Went here for lunch and the waiter did not seat us for over 10min when there were tables available. I think they are very understaff. It s too bad because the food is not bad and we come here regularly
Meat is okay but service quality needs to be improved
Good tasting food. Love it.
About 12:5X AM, Mon, Dec 11th, your Restaurant alarm is ringing. I don t know how to contact u. Helpfully u can see it here.
I would go to other Korean restaurants near North Road, Burnaby
The best Korean restaurant!you can t tell how good it is until you try it!
The raw ribs were incredibly delicious. After sharing this delicious, expensive food with my friends, I felt twice as satisfied as the fear of spending money, so it was a happy evening.
Food is good but servers are rude.
Still my favorite moooo Love it!!hope live closer.go often!
Everything was amazing, but a bit expensive.
This Korean restaurant has been established for more than 20 years. The decoration has not changed, the private rooms have a warm atmosphere, and the whole place is filled with the smell of barbecue fumes. The restaurant was full that night, but there were only two service staff. Their movements were neat and their attitudes were good, but they were seriously short of manpower! The quality of the dishes in the BBQ set for 6 people is mediocre and obviously not comparable to previous years.
The food and staff are wonderful. I had good experience at this restaurant. However, the price is quite expensive. Generally, it is great to visit here once a while
Their BBQ set for 2 was just enough for 3 Asian women, really nice food and really nice staff. Definitely coming back.
Food was excellent could do a bit of touch up with the service i had to wait like 10 min to try to order a drink but overall very good
So smoky. Couldnt even breath in there. We smelt like oil after. Food is good.
The food is amazing! Hanwoori is a great place to go for KBBQ in Burnaby. Its a bit overpriced though; Ive been there a couple of times in a group of 4 or more, and the bill comes to about 40 dollars per person (not including tips). Parking: If you go later in the evening/at night (4~6 PM), the parking lot will be full. I recommend parking a bit further past the restaurant if you can, or if youre lucky, in one of the spots directly in front or just a bit below the main lot.
Really bad experience over all. We ordered a $60 beef noodle hot pot and waited for 20 min. When it was finally served, there was very little meat. Also, the bathroom doesn t have toilet paper in any unit very unfriendly for those who didn t prepare for this. Could say it was an accident if it only happened in one unit, but all the unit? I can only say it s irresponsible or unwelcoming.
Good portions, nicely served, in a typically Oriental overly bright but comfortable little restaurant with booths and 4 tatami rooms. Decent, but it made me realize why I havent been to a Korean restaurant for years - basically I dont much like the food.
This place has been around for a long time. Still great food & service.
Tip: make reservations a day before, if you cant, be prepared to wait for at least 20mins for dinner. We ordered the K-bbq menu (grill), Bibimbap, seafood pancake and beef bone soup, a bottle of beer. Tastes were good but not extraordinary. We were 4 adults w/2 kids, our bill totalled $160 including tip, expensive for me considering tastes and overall experience is pretty basic. I would gladly pay hundreds of dollars if the whole dining experience was pleasant, however in my case we waited too long to get seated and service staff obviously struggling to serve the dinner crowd.
I eat a LOT of Korean food, and at the risk of getting in trouble, I would say this was the BEST lunch of my life (shortribs)...
The price goes up and the taste goes down...
Great place for group gatherings! The food was not bad either and the service was good, would definitely recommend if you re with a group of people. The decor is nice as well and I absolutely love the rooms with the vents on top and the style of seating there. Feels very authentically Korean
Good food
great place food good
