Had an incredible dining experience here with a friend! We tried the Classical Spicy Fish and Laotan Sauerkraut Snakehead Fish, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced. The service was exceptional friendly and attentive and the ambiance was peaceful and inviting. To top it all off, they served us complimentary rice cakes with brown sugar, which were a delightful treat. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy authentic, flavorful dishes in a relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!

Unlimited rice is really nice, and the value for the fish soup is great. I really liked the onion oil soup (or whatever it was) and loading it up with tofu and those flat noodles (whatever theyre called). One of my favourite places for a nice and surprisingly affordable meal!

The attitude of the waiter was extremely, very, very bad. He was very, very mean to children especially! Moreover, he was angry at work. I really suspected that he had a mental illness.

**Terrible Experience - Avoid This Place!** I am extremely disappointed with the experience my children had at this restaurant. They went there to enjoy a meal, but instead, they were met with a complete disaster. While they were dining, something dirty was spilled all over them. To make matters worse, the staff didn t even bother to apologize for the incident. Instead of showing any remorse, they acted rudely and even went as far as to scare the kids. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially towards children. I expected much better customer service and basic respect. I would strongly advise anyone, especially families, to stay away from this place until they learn how to treat their customers properly.

The price is affordable, better than Foodcourt on the second floor of Regent, and you can eat rice as you like.

A more affordable version of Tai Er sauerkraut fish restaurant, just a bit smaller portion. This is a chain restaurant from China that serves a number of different versions of sauerkraut and spicy soup fish. The fish is basa and its reasonably fresh - granted, you probably cant tell much with the background green pepper or spice level in a soup base. They give unlimited rice but you can just eat the soup dish itself which can be shared easily with 2 people. There is vermicelli inside, as well as vegetable, to make it filling even without the rice. You can choose the degree of spiciness and the broth was rich and flavourable. Wasnt a big fan of the fried popcorn chicken but it was definitely a fusion dish with five spice being used to flavour it, so perhaps liked by some a lot. Overall, a quick and affordable meal for 2.

We arrived before another group and we were advised to take a seat. The server, for unknown reasons, elected to skip our table for other diners. No water or attention given until we remind them of our existence. Ordered our foods before additional customers who arrived subsequently. Yet, received no food while witnessing others got theirs. Asked them why only to realize the food had been sitting. They forgot again our side order rice when they delivered the main dish. Wouldnt recommend others to come here with good service expectations. Food is average, and we suspect one of the fish was substituted with a cheaper cut.

The lady at the counter insisted on tipping at the checkout. It was disgusting. The staff needed to be trained and could not work on the counter yet. How much tip should I give, but the lady actually said it was not enough?

The only thing I think is that the set meal is not cost-effective. The crispy pork is not delicious and the drinks are not good. The takeaway ordered on the night of May 3rd totaled 41.42 and I gave 45. A large portion of blackened fish with tomatoes and baby cabbage. That baby cabbage is hard to describe and feels like a cabbage gangster. No leaves at all. Suspected of shoddy quality. If the merchant can see this comment and hope that it will be corrected, I will encourage you to do so.

The dish featuring Laotan Snakehead fish was a culinary delight! Accompanied by sweet potato noodles, bean curd, and enoki mushrooms, it was a feast for the senses. The serving size is remarkably generous, easily sufficient for four diners. My friend and I indulged in this combo, and pleasantly, there was plenty left for a second helping!

Would strongly recommend the green pepper flavour over the traditional sauerkraut flavour. Flavours are really well balanced. Not salty like some of the other sauerkraut fish restaurants in the Greater Vancouver area.

I came 2months ago, i didn t have time to leave a review until now. I came with my husband, food was great, but when i paid bill, i didn t notice that they already set default 15% tips on the bill. And the machine asked us pay tips again, i pressed 15%. They set default tips on bill and didn t notice customer, and i paid 32.25% for my meal. I viewed my receipt after i back home. And i will never go again as they do their business dishonestly.

The spiciness is enough for children to eat. The flavor is also okay. shortcoming: 1 The small portion is more expensive than the fisherman and the fish fillet is not as good as the fisherman. It is 1/3 thinner than the well-buttered fish fillet sold in T&T. The small portion has a total of 15-20 slices, which is not enough for a boy. (This varies from person to person) There is no limit on rice, but the small portion of fish + side dishes is only enough to go with half a bowl of rice. 2 You cannot choose the spiciness level 3. There are few types of side dishes. It is recommended to add konjac knots/radish/fungus/potato chips/yuba/enoki mushrooms/other mushrooms/cucumber strips, etc. The pickled fish + braised fish we ordered did not include any of the above side dishes. 4 There is no option to use onions/cilantro/add onions/add coriander 5. There is a 2% handling fee for swiping a credit card. The store said that if you give a five-star review, the handling fee will be waived. The 2% handling fee is only $1-3. Yesterday we went here for dinner for the first time and we were impressed with the food and the service. Normally going to Chinese Restaurant we dont expect great customer service but at this restaurant all the servers were very courteous and friendly. Throughout the dinner experience servers will constantly check on us to see how is the food and offer additional rice if needed it. The staff are amazing. The food was delicious we ordered the Laotan Snake head combo comes with a drink and deep fried pork. The taste of the broth was very flavourful and had a kick of spice. The fish was very fresh with the perfect tenderness. The drink we had was Orange Crush was very refreshing and not too sweet which was perfect. The bill was $45 with two drinks and combo including tips and tax. Overall experience I will rate 10/10 for service because in this type of restaurant and the level of warm service is amazing. Food definitely 10/10 because is delicious and the price is decent will definitely go back again. Highly recommend

Great food and friendly service from the staff. Unlimited rice with large portions and soups are not too salty. Their set menus include a soup, appetizer dish, drink, and unlimited rice for around $30. You can also order a large soup to share between 2 people with rice included as well. One star off for charging 2% credit card transaction fee (they accept debit, cash, and WeChat pay), but they waive it for 5-star reviews. Everything else about this place is perfect. But I wish charging credit card transaction fees for consumers is not becoming a common practice, despite federal policy enabling businesses to pass this charge to them.

We got the Lao Tan sauerkraut basa fish in a large portion which is $29.95. The portions were quite generous and can feed 2-3 people. They also have unlimited rice. The fish was tasty, not too spicy, but a bit on the oily side. We also ordered the popcorn chicken which was a bit dry and not crispy enough. I recommend ordering the fish only. Service was friendly. It tastes the same as the food in a big restaurant, but its so convenient that you can order your own portion. My husband doesnt eat spicy food, but its really great to be able to enjoy the delicious taste of pickled fish. And the fact that rice is free makes it worth visiting again. The oil was fragrant and had the numbing mala taste from the peppercorn which was great. We ordered the large Laotan Sauerkraut Snakehead Fish. The portion is generous for two people. Flavour is very good. Spicy level was just right for us. There are other spicer version of the soup and they are indicated accordingly on the menu. Ours is only one chilly pepper. This is the first time we had the Snakehead Fish, we like the fish texture. A wonderful meal on a cool day.

Customer service was 10/10! Would try this place again just for that. Got the large Laotan Sauerkraut Basa Fish. Super solid portion for two people, and comes with unlimited rice to soak up all that brothy goodness. Their mobile ordering system is a little weird though. You can choose your tip amount, but it still makes you pay at the cashier in the end. So just be careful not to double tip! Overall, good food, fair prices and nice workers. Would come back.

Love this place! Great value, yummy flavours. I went on a Saturday around 11am, only 2 other tables there. Spacious and clean interior, I like the bright orange and grey scheme. The rice is unlimited and self serve, but the waiters were very attentive and got us rice, and refilled our tea. The free tea is quite good too. Located on the outside of Crystal Mall (it s not in the food court). Got a small Laotan Snakehead Fish soup ($21.95) for lunch to share between mum and I. It comes with two toppings, and I picked black woodear mushroom and enoki mushrooms (some other options are beancurd sheets cabbage, tofu, vermicelli, broccoli and lettuce). Spice level was one spicy chili on the menu, and it had a strong kick. I think this was the sweet spot for me, and I can t do any spicier (for reference I love shin ramen, it s perfect, and I can eat a tad spicier than that too). It had up to 4 spicy chili indictors, and I think I d start crying at that point. It s topped with peppercorn Pretty impressed with the portions, lots of soup, with very fragrant oil & chilies on top. Large chunks of tender fish, and loads of sauerkraut. Good portion of the toppings too. I d love to get a large portion to-go next time, so I can use the flavourful leftover soup and make some noodles for an extra meal at home. Parking: park inside crystal mall - gets busy, but theres usually spots. Or park at Metrotown and walk over (less than 10min walk) -free parking at Metrotown for like 4 hours. Highly recommend Princess Tomato Sauce Fish ( basa fish). The soup was delicious, and the fish was incredibly tasty. Also, the Hot spicy boiled beef was also appetizing, I even had two bowls of rice with it, kkkkkk. The portion size is just right for two people if you choose the large portion. Also, I really liked Yummy Fried Pork, which was very crunchy and highly recommended. For dessert, I recommend the Ice Jelly. My friend and I really enjoyed the place and service. Amazing food ! The sauerkraut fish soup is delicious and the portions are huge! I highly recommend this place

A nice clean place for chinese sauerkraut fish. I personally find the portion quite reasonable. Yes, the dish/bowl is shallow but theres plenty of fish for $18.99.

This is a go to place if you love szechuan sauerkraut fish soup....yummy yummy yummy, our combo including unlimited rice and fried mochi for dessert...pricing is reasonable..decor is clean and inviting....very memorable food experience, hopefully they include cod in the future.

Delicious food. Unlimited high quality rice and nice staff. The tomato one is really good for something not spicy, but the Laotan is my favorite!

I ordered brown sugar glutinous rice cake, rice with crispy pork, pickled cabbage and fish in golden soup, and everyone said they all finished it! I didn t think about taking pictures until after I finished eating! Tastes great! The weight is also very comfortable and not burdensome!

Food is good, but beware - the receipt they give you includes 15% tip already. But they dont tell you that and gives you the card machine on the tip screen - I didnt notice and tipped again. Kind of scummy to include tip and not give a heads up.

The Laotan Snakehead fish is amazing! We had it with sweet potato noodles, bean curd, enoki mushroom. You can definitely share the L with four people! It was huge! I shared the combo with my friend and we were able to save it for another meal! Tbh the popcorn chicken and drinks were just ok I left my waterbottle there and the server kept it for me for two days best service!

A friend from Chongqing brought me fish with green peppercorns and pickled vegetables. I ordered a set meal for two. It was delicious, the service was enthusiastic and thoughtful, and the price was high. I will come again.

I come here frequently with my friends and we really enjoy the food and drinks. Staff is also very kind! However, we do notice that there is an opportunity with hygiene. The last two times we came here, we noticed the same closing staff clean the washroom while wearing rubber gloves. She then serves the food using the same gloves, and we noticed that the gloves are touching the food. Although the food is delicious here, it is hard not to lose appetite after seeing that.
