I re-visited ChongQing after more than 20 years. It seems to me that it is now serving a greater variety of food. Peking duck was the highlight of the evening. It was on promotion and only cost around $55 for a Peking duck in 2 ways. I would say it was very good for this price. The skin was crispy and not too greasy, and the stir fried duck meat with lettuce wrap was delicious. My second favorite was the spicy and sour soup. Though I was a little shocked when I saw button mushrooms in it (the authentic one didn't have), it tasted just like the one I used to have. Perhaps the chef is not particularly skillful in making Xiaolungbao. The wrapping was easy too thick. Other than that, I'm happy with the rest of the dishes.
Service was quick and friendly. Food came in a timely manner with big portions on each menu item, plus was very delicious!
Big portions for a fair price. Quiet and cozy. Servers were very kind and well mannered.
Delicious Chinese restaurant near Metrotown mall! Such friendly and polite servers with the best dish recommendations. Our favourite dish was the beef and vegetable rice noodle in black bean sauce, so flavourful not too salty or oily. Lemon glaze sauce chicken was very good, meat was thin and tender. Honey garlic sliced pork was also a hit with their fried donut buns! We will be back!!
Peking duck tasted and looked like it was reheated, dried out meat not juicy at all. Steamed juicy bun were not juicy and had very thick skin and not very tasty. Skin so thick they did not have proper pleats. Service was excellent however. Restaurant was very cold and some employees were wearing heavy jackets so food got cold fast. They are relying on good reputation of commercial restaurant.
This restaurant has been around for years.. It is not a big restaurant with 5 booths, 1 large table and a banquet against the window with various 2 tops and 4 tops. Parking in front. They have an extensive lunch menu. The staff is efficient and friendly, for a Wednesday afternoon, the restaurant is 90% full with mix of clientele. Not all asians as I assumed. I ordered the Seafood Crispy Noodles including the Hot and Sour Soup. The food comes out fast, the soup is flavourful with the numbing spicy effect but the consistency is more like gravy, which is too thick to my liking. The Seafood Crunchy noodles indeed was very crunchy with 2 prawns, 2 pieces of small fried fish, 2 super chewy squid and a handful of eraser sized scallops and Bok Choy. The sauce over the noodles has the flavour but the seafood is bland, however again, the sauce, I suspect is made with an abundance of corn starch, so it’s super thick. At the end of the meal, you can literally see the sauce congealing into solid jelly. I do like the attentiveness of the staff, there were 3 servers always walking around, clearing and cleaning tables. They have their own napkins printed, and at the end of the meal, you get a fortune cookie, which reminds me of the old visit to their Broadway location when we used to eat there in the 80s. Most Chinese restaurants don’t offer fortune cookies anymore.
Went for a nice family dinner and the food was fantastic! The whole family loved it. Our server recommended we go with the two course Peking duck, and it was absolutely worth it! The stir fry filling in lettuce wraps was to die for. Peking duck skin was crispy and overall delicious. Chowmein was also amazing. Family also liked the General Taos chicken which was more western...but very tasty. Will come back again and again.
Perfect dine in restaurant during this time. Very well spaced, and menu can be viewed online or paper. Foods were served so quickly and fresh. It took about 10 minutes. The lemon chicken is so unique. It looks like chicken cutlet with sauce on the top. It was delicious and crispy. Egg fuyong was mildly flavored and soft. I expected it to be little crispy on the surface and gravy. But there was no option for sauce . I loved the portion of shrimp in the egg fuyong. Beef with black bean sauce was mediocre. The pieces of vegetable were too big. And flavor was not intense enough compare to the color of sauce. Overall, it was good dining experience. We will visit again for other cuisines as well :)
The name Chongqing Restaurant must have known that the food must be spicy. For those who like spicy food, it will suit their taste, but for those who are not into spicy food, even the mild spicy food will make them sweat profusely. Before ordering, you can ask the waiter if they can make non-spicy meals, but overall the taste of the dishes is good. It is best to book a table and arrive early on holidays. There are not many parking spaces. I highly recommend this restaurant in Chongqing. Restaurant. Parking: The free parking lot is right next to the restaurant but there are not many parking spaces. There are paid parking spaces on the street nearby, or you can find a free 2-hour parking space nearby.
Delicious!
not bad and they offer free delivery : )
Flavour King on Broadway, too good. Definitely one of the best Schezwan food.
I ordered the honey garlic beef dish. It arrived with the taste of a full cup of salt. No taste of honey nor garlic..just pure salt
I ordered the Xiao long bao today and the meat was raw inside.
Food is very good, prices affordable
Subpar food. I was excited to have some noodles here, but I was very disappointed. The chicken chow mein was very dry and bland. The portion was huge though, considering that it was 17.95. I got take out, and it would be nice if they didn t charge for bags (bag looked like it was gonna tear apart). Also, when I showed the worker my order receipt to pick up the food, he seemed confused. It would also help if there was tracking info for when the order is ready.
Very disappointed. Maybe the ownership has changed? The food esp the bone in dai Ching chicken was essentially a plate of oily bones. The soup was watery and prices have gone up 25-35%. The counter service person had the kind of haughty attitude of a restaurant not needing our business, so we won t be patronizing this place again. Too bad as they used to be much better.
A good place for Chinese food, well-priced
I went to the Chongqing Surrey store at noon today, mainly for snacks. Has the taste of snacks changed? And the fried ones are all a bit black? Has the oil not been changed yet? Or should I fry it again? I am a regular customer who has been patronizing the restaurant since it opened. The more I eat, the more outrageous it becomes! Moreover, almost all the service staff have been replaced by new ones, and the service level needs to be improved! After eating today, I had an unforgettable experience!
4th time...expected better, disappointed. Same dishes 1st time uber eats with incentive. Food was hot, tasted fresh, good portions. 2nd time in restaurant order pick up. Staff were nice, waited about 15 minutes, np. Food still hot when I got home 20 min away, portion smaller, squid not as crispy but good flavour, vermicelli not as many shrimp/pork/veg. 3rd, uber again, Food warm, squid ok, vermicelli a little mushy, less flavour just thrown together, no condiments. Last time, pick up in 20, there in 20, got 2 blocks away tried squid, warm. Got home, whole container was barely warm, smaller portion again, tasted fresh but bland and just jalapeños. Vermicelli barely warm, 3 pieces of pepper, some carrot shreds few shrimp and less pork. Just a container of yellow, mushy bland noodles. To far away to return, not worth $, time, effort. Lost customer.
Its really delicious!!!!!!! Totally good
Great place for lunch specials. Portion size is good, food is tasty, service is good. Parking can be challenging as their lot is small.
Great spot for work lunch. I often come here w clients. Good food, great prices and fantastic service.
Very good food, but contactless delivery instructions were very clear to leave at the door, as I was working and they continuously tried to call me on a random unknown number when I was already on a work call. Next time I would suggest if your call is denied 10 times maybe send a text or picture and just leave it at the door, As per my instructions stated! If I do go here again I will dine in, not deliver. This is why I don t like selecting the tip option before I even get the experience
1.Ordered shrimp fried rice. It was tasteless and blan lacked the usual fried rice taste. 2. Ordered chicken & spinach garlic sour sauce dish. There was no spinach. Laked taste. Food
The food was good and the service was excellent. Had the mushoo wraps, eggplant stir fry, and sweet and sour pork. All three were very generous portion sizes.
I love this place to visit
The people that work at this place are just so rude. That s all I have to say .
Wonderful lunch and food and excellent kind service
Chongqing on Kingsway happens to be my Mothers favorite location. On numerous occasions, Mom & I have enjoyed Lunch at this location. Compared to its other locations, by fare this location is spectacular in cleanliness, Customer service, food portions. They have fast, efficient & very knowledgeable staff taking orders, be it face to face, On the phone, or on their website. Our family is quite large with members spread out in thlh
This place always hits it out of the park for me. Nice lunch menu and reasonable prices.
Been going for years, family favorite and good for large groups. Excellent service. Food is always cooked to perfection. Excellent lunch special as well. Go...the green beans are my favorite. Good for vegetarians as well wanting authentic Chinese without meat.
I ordered Peanut Butter Wonton and did not get any peanut butter sauce, ordered General Tao chicken and the sauce was horrible, ordered Szechuan Noodles with shredded pork and there was no pork. I have been going to this location since it opened and will never go there or order from there again!!
Incredibly quick delivery. You dont have to call any delivery company, they have their own drivers. Food is tasty and portions are good. They raised their prices, but, so did everyone else. We order from them very often Mongolian beef, prawns in black bean sauce and seafood fried rice. Perfection.
I have been going to a ChonqQuing location either in Vancouver or Burnaby for 25 years. Today I ordered the the ginger beef for lunch - it was the worst in all 25 years. It was like eating crispy pieces of leather - just horrible. I have had the dish many time and it is usually good. Not today! I notice there many pieces of crispy something, but not meat. Sadly I notice they arent as busy as the used to be - the kitchen maybe the reason
Sweet n sour chicken was so overdone, it was like rocks
Super friendly staffs Decent food Food
my dinner tonight way to spicy. not how it normally is it was just awful it ruined my appetite
Great food and service as usual.
I just had one dish my favorite tofu with minced meat. The taste was awful and salty. And theres a pungent smell, I dont know what is that?I have to cooked it again and put more water and sugar. But the lady who attended to my order was nice.
This is the best Chinese out there! The service is amazing too Jennifer was our server and she was so attentive and friendly and the rest of the staff were as well. We got the hot and sour & wonton soup top notch. The rock salt squid was perfect and the lettuce wraps are delicious! Highly recommend to come here especially for larger groups they are great with families and larger groups.
A bit disappointed at the food quality, but the price is reasonable.
Food is very amazing Its is my friends and mine favorite place to enjoy hearty big size delicious food. We have had almost all the vegetarian and love their hot and sour soup, fish dishes. The service is excellent Food
The friendly staff smiled when I entered the restaurant and seated my family very fast and away from the front door. The temperature of the restaurant was perfect. The servers, Jennifer and Rita were very kind and a joy to talk to. They both understood that we were a family of vegetarians and went above and beyond to ask the chef if the vegetarian dishes are cooked separately from meat and seafood dishes. Order came very fast. Food was hot and tasted fresh from the kitchen. Highly recommended restaurant, a favourite and I am sure my family and I will come again soon.
One of the best Asian cuisine restaurants I ve ever been too. I can t stop wanting to eat here. Great wait staff and fast! The tastiest food I ve ever had! Can t wait to come back
Excellent food and service great menu we ordered the crab was superb the take out was well prepared with everything nothing missing great place to go Parking: great front parking
Not sure I could be much happier. We walked in the restaurant and were seated right away. It was later in the evening but there were still some people in here. Excellent service. Water and tea right away and our food came promptly and it was also excellent. My daughter had the Shanghai Noodles whcih she loved and I had the Ginger Beef which was also excellent. Water and tea kept filled without asking and great portion sizes and grrat proces.
The food here is really great quality and tastes incredible. I have been to the restaurant itself, but I usually order delivery for convenience and have never been disappointed.
Im not a connoisseur of asian cuisine by any means so I cant speak to authenticity BUT what they serve is exactly how we like our Chinese food. So much flavour and heat in the spicy dishes. We usually order take-out because we live 25 minutes away but the food is still hot and crispy when we get home. Their Ginger Beef has never disappointed us and I always look forward to a helping of their Sweet n Sour Pork. There are about 6 chinese restaurants closer to us but we will happily travel here each and every time
Great place. Reasonable price. Full if families
Best Dai Ching Chicken in the West coast. Thank you for always being so good. Food
The chicken chow mein chicken is something I ve never experienced before. Is it canned meat? It s strange white flat mushy texture. Gross.
Ordered from here for dinner and it was so delicious and fresh. I recommend the chow mein and beef/broccoli
Amazing we got free fries
Very bad
Its a good place for lunch or dinner. It could be very busy at times so its good to come either early dinner or late lunch. Food and service is pretty good. Its one of my go to restaurant when Im in Metrotown area.
We always go to this location because the Manager is always extremely attentive and knows that I always order a Large Beer for my lunch. However, this Sunday we went there for a celebration and the food was excellent and the service was ok, the Manager was not there; however, the lady who was woking was having her lunch with another lady and there was a little girl seating at the table. The man who was serving us was taking care of the restaurant while she was eating however as soon as one of the owners walked in, she immediately stood up and got top work on the floor. The horrible and most disgusting part was that she had food stocked on her teeth and she kept putting her fingers in her mouth over and over again. She did not washed her hands and she was packing some order to go and was waiting for a lady to get the rice ready so she can serve the rice with her unwashed hands. Yet she kept trying to get food out of her teeth for easily 25 minutes, we were sick to our stomach. Someone should instruct this people of the health issues that represents and how important it is to be professional in a restaurant.
As a craft beer enthusiast, I love exploring new breweries and trying out their unique offerings. So when I visited Chongqing restaurant on Kingsway and saw that they had Taylight beers on their menu, I knew I had to order one. As soon as the server brought me my Taylight Golden Ale, I could tell that this was no ordinary beer. The aroma was inviting, with subtle hints of caramel and citrus. And the taste was even better - medium bodied, with a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness, combining the caramel notes of the malt with earthy and citrus notes of the hops. As I enjoyed my beer with my meal, I couldnt help but appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that went into creating it. I could taste the care and attention to detail in every sip, from the selection of malt and hops to the brewing process itself. In short, my experience with Taylight at the restaurant was everything I love about craft beer - quality ingredients, innovative brewing techniques, and a beer that enhances the flavors of the food I was eating. I will definitely be seeking out more of Taylights offerings, including their Golden Ale with its delicious combination of caramel, earthy, and citrus notes, both at the brewery and at my favorite restaurants.
All of them have improved flavors, which are more in line with Western taste buds. I ordered three dishes. Under the heavy color of soy sauce, they have a sweet taste. It s really hard to put it into words.
AHHHHH mazing food, so delicious and such nice people. You will NOT be disappointed. We go out of our way to eat here as often as we can.......thank you team ChongQing. Food : 5/5
Terrible experience!! The server was so rude and doesnt know the basic etiquette of attending customers. Talking of food.. its so bland and tasteless. I feel this was done on purpose! Id give 0 stars if I could! Food : 1/5
Thank you very much for having such a restaurant. I especially recommend the corn soup and stir-fried pork. A regular meal that we go to every week. Highly recommended to everyone.
I called to place an order for their hot and sour soup. It comes with chicken and shrimp, but I told them I want chicken only because my wife has a severe shellfish allergy. The guy on the phone tells me they dont have shellfish. When I told him that shrimp is shellfish all he said was OH. I was shocked since shrimp is considered to be a shellfish. For anyone that has a shellfish allergy be aware of this place because they clearly they dont have an idea of what is considered to be shellfish.
If I could eat at one place for the rest of my life, it would be here
I ve been coming here for years and the service has always been amazing every time! The portions are massive yet so affordable. The workers are always so friendly and eager to help. My friend and I ordered soup and the server even brought us small bowls and poured it in for us right at the table without us even asking. I asked for a lot of chilli oil and the server came through by giving me way more than I expected which made us both laugh. I felt like I was being needy but they really made me feel at ease. The server even came over with napkins without me asking. Even when paying, the manager asked me if he could get me more tea or water. So attentive I feel like they re reading my mind. 10/10 I left feeling so happy with the service
Really delicious food
Meh, not great but ok prices for the portions.
I recently dined at Chongquing. As usual, no complaints. My order was perfect and arrived timely. The food was hot, tasty and nicely presented. I normally do a takeout and I must say that I dont have complaints about my takeout orders as well. The food is consistently good and tasty. I always order the green beans, perfectly cooked and not overdone, dai ching chicken which is always perfect and noodles. The ginger beef also is highly recommended. Chongquing has always been my go to restaurant for Szechuan cuisine and so far no complaints. My server Lisa is always so attentive and anticipated every need. I love their tea and my cup was always full. Lisa and Jacob have taken my takeout order on the phone and they are both so polite and efficient. I highly recommend this restaurant. Food and staff are excellent. I can t wait to go back
Had a big family dinner here last night and had the best time. Servers were so kind and the dishes were yummy. Deep fried squid was perfect and their hot & sour soup is my family s go-to for years. Thanks for having us :)
I went here yesterday, and from the looks of it looks like one of those cafes set ups. And there were a lot of old men and women coming to the restaurant and the occassional young teenagers coming to eat. So I sat in one of those chairs and wrote down the order that I wanted to eat. Which was Deep Fried Squid with Salt, Seafood Chow Mein, and House Special Fried Rice. The wait wasnt long for it as the waiter took orders from me and others all at the same time, which was fine. Customer service in this location is top knotch, really attentive never had I have empty tea or water at all! The food is really good probably better than the location that I still eat from. Would highly recommend this restaurant! I cant help but say the food is amazing!
Too bad they dont have 0 stars option! Go here if you would like to be stared down at the whole time youre eating and then be demanded for a bigger tip then you gave!
The food quality compare to before is very low, all the chickens taste same! Smell like burned oil.. everything super oily and no taste at all.. service is horrible.. servers staring at you till you leave.. I used to love this place, not going back anymore! Foods are pricy and not as good as before.. spend your money somewhere else! Not recommended no wonder they are not busy anymore!
Good food, good service.
Good food and the waiter is so nice. High recommend.
The 3-course Peking duck was 44.95 on the takeout pamphlet but was told the new price is revised to 69dollars!! When delivered, the pancake was dry, stiff n crunchy! There were no more than 10 slices of cold duck on top of some shrimp crackers which had turned soggy, chewy! One would expect such a drastic price raise will mean improved food quality!! Disgusting food; what a total waste of money!
The food portion is massive. I was surprised how big the amount is. we definitely over ordered, not knowing the size only had 4 ppl ordered 7 dishes, lol. The food came very fast, and the service was very fast. Im definitely coming back when I am in Vancouver . The food tastes good as they look.
Excellent food! Will be back!!! Food
Went for lunch quick and friendly service!!!
Great place to try something new! My brother, SIL and I enjoyed our meal and had some extra to bring home. Great food and cozy atmosphere!
Great restaurant that treats guests and potential customers with respect and care!!
Excellent customer service. Very professional. Makes you feel you are eating at home. Chong quing Beef is one of our favorites and black bean beef with fried noodles another one of our favorites. Chef customized both dishes by not putting any salt as per our request. The food was delicious, and tasty. Highly recommended. Thank you kindly. Parking: Always have parking
Simply, just a good food... Everything else could be worked on.
Not impressed
I ordered ginger beef and a small rice to go. It costs $23.50. They didnt put any utensils like chopsticks or a fork. How can I eat it? Isnt it ridiculous? I wont be back to this restaurant.
Their lunch menu has a lot to choose from. The servers are friendly. The service is quick and the food is good.
Several times I got my take out orders from Kingsway and Nelson location. Meat was really dry hard and anyone could tell that the meat has been heated and freezed many time but I tried to be understanding. Today I order again, and the beef was really sour, disgusting taste. Never ever again to this Location. No one seems teaching staff a basic Costumers Courtesy. Parking: xxx
Food came quickly. Quality was ok to good.
Food tasted nothing like actual Szechuan cuisine. Waiter didn t even refill our glass of tea even after not serving us for like 10 whole minutes. Would not come here again
The Peking duck was just mouthwatering Ly marvelous. I would go back and have it again.
Food isn t washed. Found maggot in broccoli. All the food was really oily. When it got cold you could see the oil separate.
I will change my rating in the near future as I am a regular customer and think the food is mostly consistent and a good meal. I would stay away from the beef with broccoli which is unfortunate as its a staple in most places. It should be called, broccoli with Beef. Very noticeable that there was way more broccoli then beef, when spending $20 for not many beef peices. That rubs me the wrong way. Thanks
They started shrinkflation and using small tiny shrimp instead of normal size maybe we need to stop spending money with them because they are ripping off.
Lisa was amazing and it was my birthday she made it memorable with her great service. My girls were super excited with the treats they got at the end. Had a wonderful dinner with my family. Highly recommended.
Good food but expensive
The best Szechuan Chongqing Location hands down by far. Lisa the waitress is very polite and customer service friendly. Was on point with everything without me having to ask. Seriously Cool Staff- very professional! And the food is sizzling tasty thus far! Thank you Chongquing Staff for everything! South Burnaby (Metrotown) *********
Always excellent food, exceptional service by the hosts. I had dine in at lunch and took 3 items to go. Loved it as always . I highly recommend!
Parking: There are 6-8 free parking spots in front of restaurant. Paid street parking until 8:00pm. Food
You would think that all locations would prepare equivalent flavored food, well thats not the case. Recent order was disappointing. Chefs did not make the dishes the way its usually made. Been customer to the original Commercial Street, Vancouver location since the 80s.
got around $60 of takeout. ordered beef and broccoli that had like 90% broccoli. it looked like a blatant rip off with zero attempt to hide it. the honey garlic spareribs had mostly bones and looked like leftovers. portion sizes were abysmally small for what I was paying. thats the first and last time Ill order from here.
Excellent Chinese food! Not much atmosphere but quality food.
Ordered over $100 of food for pickup. Showed up and the food was sitting on a table, not ready to go. The manager told me that I didnt pay for the bag, so I had to pull out my credit card to pay $0.25 before they packed up my food for me. Unbelievably laughable service
Lisa and team were amazing and the food is next level Must tryy.. manager is super humble. Food
Outstanding food. Had a couple of their lunch specials and a la carte menu items. All outstanding. Veggie chow mein, dai ching tofu, general tsao chicken, ginger beef, spicy wonton with peanut sauce, green beans, hot and sour soup. All delicious. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend.
One of my fav Chinese restaurants for lunch, they have great lunch specials. Also, they make their chili sauce in house, its fantastic and you can buy it to bring home
Had been to two locations and I like this location better. Food is phenomenal, as always.
I would Normally give this is restaurant 5 stars.. it s my favourite place for good quality great tasting food. I ve ordered this item numerous times in the past and it was very good This time the fried eggplant was inedible!! It looked great, but I think they poured a quarter cup of chili oil over the top absolutely ruining it.
The service is v friendly indeed since I ve been here a lot of times sitting in & getting takeout !!! I must mention that LIZA is a v experienced server ; she really cares for all the customers carrying a warm smile all the time despite the fact that she has to work here 10 hrs a day !!! She is such a jolly warm hearted person who deserves to be promoted !!! It will be beneficial for the restaurant to have more than 2 chiefs at least to be able to have the service efficiently done !!! Your loyal customer YY Vegetarian options: They R flexible for customers who wants to change their options !!!
Went there and my order was a little overpriced, the people were not friendly and it looked and tasted like they thought oh a white guy lets just give him left overs as the rice and meat tasted old and like it had been sitting for a long time. If you like Szechauan go somewhere else.
Best schezuan ever! Prices have gone up compared to when it used to be. For example the Dai ching chicken is now $20!!! So it is quite easy to over spend on dishes here. The green beans is really good too. Nonetheless the food is ao good its a great treat.
Friendly staff /service tasty food.
First time and very disappointed...the food has no flavor...I ordered Mongolian beef it was unflavored and very oily.My thong got numb for all the spices, you are unable to taste the rest of the food, even the spring rolls no tasty at all...the only good thing was the fried rice and the chaumin but if Im going to pay 20 dollars per plate , I prefer to go to the food court , it is cheaper and tastes better. I appreciated the good service of the server staff:)
Very small portion Harley put any meat in chow mein
Good for half sized orders if you dont want the full family sized dish
The seafood chow mein sauce was a little watery but still good none the less
Our lunch was really 5 Stars! Friendly greeting, directed to seating, then menus arrived. Noodle Soup w/mixed meat + Seafood was his. Deluxe Tan Tan Noodle w/minced pork sauce was mine. His looked delish + he looked like he was enjoying it nonstop. lol. Mine looked delish too..no words were spoken..only mmms. Noodles were absolutely delicious..I think we inhaled them! lol $25 + tip for two. So happy to visit again + recommend these 2 dishes.
Ordered 4 dishes, sweet & sour chicken was soggy & had no crunch, we specifically asked for crunchy seafood fried noodles & again came so soggy...so disappointing, will not be coming back!!!
Best choice for lunch
Great customer service, reasonable price and amazing food
Salty as it could possibly get, i thought i was under the sea
Very friendly, fast service and food was super delicious
Probably one of the best chinese joint hands down
I like the Peking duck. The beef with scallion is also good. The portion of the dishes are not too big so this restaurant is a little on the expensive side. It is still good to go there occasionally.
I had recently ordered from this restaurant thought I would try it out it said it had good reviews so I figured the food would probably be good well I just want to tell everybody it was the worst place I had ordered Chinese food from there was one dish that I ordered that was disgusting it was sweet-and-sour pork the meat tasted like it was sitting out for a long time and it had a really really bad smell I also had some fried rice the rice tasted sour like it was spoiled the food all together just did not smell good or look good I ended up getting really sick from it and threw it away it s probably the worst place to get Chinese food from please everybody be aware don t waste your money at this place I really don t know why they re in business but I think the health food services should have them checked out anyways thank you for reading this review I hope it helps you
Good service re attentive. Value to food portion is fair. Fried rice special is good. Noodle somewhat too much soya sauce. Wonton was good and taste homemade.
The taste is average, maybe more American-style Chinese food, and the service attitude is good.
Tan tan soup was watery with no flavour whatsoever. My grandkids told me I lied when I said I brought tan tan because this is nothing like it. Cook should learn from Commercial restaurant how yo make this soup
Usual
Used to love coming here but last time chicken tasted rubbery almost as if it was an old order. Food came out super fast too which was a little sus. Friendly owner tho just disappointed in the difference in food quality from what I ve had here in the past
Excellent!!!Loved it!!! this place was Amazing!!! Lisa and her Team do an Outstanding job!!! the Ginger Beef was the Best we have ever tried, Also a star were the Green Beens!!! Do not miss this place!!! Five Stars for sure!!!
My family and I have been frequenting Chong Qing for over 20 years, we ve loved it. However, the past few visits at the Kingsway location has been fairly disappointing. Specifically the Di Ching Chicken, and Di ching green beans. The cooks seem to have changed, or disregarded the amazing original recipe s! :( - please review!
Decent food at a great price with good service and free parking!!! Why wouldnt I go there?
I ordered nudles with shredded chicken and nudles with sea food and meat. In both dish I got altogether less than 50 gram of meat , couple of shrimp and nudles are terrible? Worst Chinese food I eat in Canada! I paid 36$ for this disaster!
I ordered Seafood Chow Mein, and there must have been enough salt (maybe 1/4 cup of salt) in the dish to kill a horse. It was just terrible. I had to toss it away. Im pretty fair about my posts, but the blatant poor quality of their food is beyond belief.
Food was very yum and the prices and the portions were very reasonable. The staff were polite as well. Will go back.
I wouls give zero stars if I could.Ordered the spicy deep fried prawns yesterday on Uber eats. Without a doubt the most disgusting thing Ive ever ordered, in my life The coating was oil soaked and soggy with a dry withered partial prawn inside. The prawn should be whole. Couldnt even finish one threw it out. Gross!
Ordered through Uber eats, it was probably the worst western Chinese food I have ever tasted. Half Peking duck was just six duck skin pieces unevenly teared. Ginger beef and deep fried ribs were dry and hard; the texture reminds me of dog chewing treats. All the dishes were oily. The menu price is on the cheaper side but I rather pay more to have some decent taste. AVOID...
We started going/ordering from ChongQing in 2017, the food was great and we never thought on going to any other of their locations. However, to us, the quality of the food has changed significantly, some of the items like the deep fried spicy squid was super oily and the sweet and sour spare ribs had more bone than meat on it. Even the take out packaging has changed, it used to be in boxes with the items very well organized. The last time we order, the food came in plastic bags and plastic containers. It seems that the management of this business has been changed.
Excellent food. Had 4 people and we ordered a lot. Everything was outstanding you cant go wrong. Parking: Not a lot of it.
One of my favorite Asian restaurants
Always a great experience. Clean Friendly helpful staff
Ginger beef so good
Decent Chongqing taste dishes, uncommon for the Greater Vancouver area, at a very reasonable price point! If you like Sichuan spicy food, then you ought to give it a try!
GINGER BEEF.....nuff said.....Andy out!!!!
I ordered hot and sour soup. It was terrible. Worst Chinese food I eat in Canada! I paid 20$ for this tasteless salty food. Get rid of the cook. He puts a bad name for Chinese cuisine
Lisa Chesterman was very friendly, efficient and responsive to all the customers.
Exactly what I wanted. Western style Chinese food. Everything was saucy, delicious and greasy as expected. The honey garlic ribs were really good. If youre looking for an authentic Chinese food, this may not be it. But we will absolutely be back whenever were craving for that quick comfort and familiar Chinese food.
Not an authentic Chongqing restaurant - more Cantonese style.
This place has some of the best sweet and sour pork Ive had in Burnaby. The lunch menu is fairly big and comes with soup. Everything was very tasty and reasonably priced. I will definitely be coming back : )
Good value on their lunch specials. Spicy dishes all very tasty.
We had a very good experience for lunch here. Good lunch special portions which comes with your choice of soup and steamed rice. Excellent and courteous service Food
Very good service.
Tips are required for self-pickup
Its not really Chongqing food but more of a pan-Chinese restaurant. Nevertheless, the food was surprisingly flavourful and as someone from southern China, I enjoyed the taste. The servers were quite pleasant too!
Ordered online and for my three dishes it took more than 45 minutes. I got to the store and waited at least 20 minutes for my order to be ready. It took too long as it said it would be ready in 30. Food was super oily. I also ordered chicken and definitely got pork instead of chicken. While waiting also saw a waiter come to help. He entered the restaurant took off his jacket and bag, grabbed his apron and started helping. He didn t even wash his hands before helping . Helping includes serving food and tea to those dining in. Not impressed with this location.
Cheap and good.
Some stuff is expensive for what you get and they dont use enough meat in their dishes its all cheap noodles
Just average Chinese style food.
Food was good but the wonton soup was too salty
Great restaurant. Amazing food and good service. It s a small and intimate location compared to some of their other locations. This might be me being a little picky but recently went and they had no social distancing protocols like other restaurants would (such as plexi glass in between tables if the tables are not distanced enough etc) although staff were still wearing masks.
Not bad food
The Beef Mongolian was amazing. Must eat. And I like the customer service.
Very awesome place to eat, and service was great. Food was very tasty and we had lots to take afterwards. We ordered more things to drop off for two elderly men we seen on the street. They were thankful and enjoyed the food as well, after seeing them again a few days later.
Taste not bad
Stir-fried green beans turn into soy sauce green beans. The Chongqing beef only has about 10 pieces of meat in total, and each piece of meat is cut very large. I really don t recommend it.
Tasty affordable Chinese food
Bought a whole Peking duck and it looked like they only gave us half. The meat was not cut nicely, looked like regular bbq meat. Paid $36. Making it at home is better.
Nice restaurant. You get your food fairly fast. Averaged food for a good price.
Sooooo good!!!
It s OK. The food is good, but heaps of msg. It was also just a tad too salty for me. A little oily as well.
Poor quality food
Tried this restaurant for the first time. Reviews are mixed so I thought Id try their popular dishes. Mongolian Beef, Lemon Chicken, Chicken Fry Rice and Mixed Vegetables Stir Fry. The Mongolian beef was pleasant surprise. Tasted great and good heat. Spice wasnt over powering. Fry rice and vegetables stir fry was good but take out containers was a bit on the small side for the price you pay. Lemon Chicken was moist and flavourful, wished there was a bit more crunch but happy with the food nonetheless.
I like the surrey location because of cleaniness, customer service and presentation.
Such a terrible server!!!
Always fresh and delicious.
Limited lunch menu and poor service
It s spicy and plentiful~^^ Perfect with a cold beer!
sorry... cannot recommend without much apprehension as we found some BONE fragments and cartilage bits in some of the wrap food mix. Tasty at first...but I was afraid of cracking a tooth! (did that once, it cost a pretty PENNY! no, thank you.) Eat at your own peril..
I read the reviews of very cheep Chinese customers . Very disappointing as my wife who is Asian and myself really liked the unique flavours with a healthy lettuce wrap . Loved the duck and the chicken keep up the healthier diets of your food . Loose the deep fried food .
Quite similar taste to the location in Delta, but have to say was a bit on the sweeter side for me.would have preferred the chilli fish to be spicier. Tofu as always a favorite.
