Absolutely my favorite sushi place in BC. The food is so tasty, very lovely and professional prepared by Kevin and his staff, ingredients are top quality. Service is pretty good. The place is not for a in a rush meal but for a enjoyable meal, since food is very cautiously and meticulously prepared. They even have some dishes that are not in the menu, since they are prototypes they test first. You can ask for those to try.

Went to this place for the second time. On their menu they had Udon seafood soup which was double amount compared to plain Udon soup. When got the soup, there was only noodle and couple pieces of vegetables. Asked the waitress where the seafood is? She went to the kitchen and came back stating that there is shrimp and couple other seafood in it. Then when we showed them that there is no seafood, she went back to the kitchen and came back that there is some sort of artificial seafood in it which clearly there was nothing there We did not eat the soup because it was not seafood soup. At the end the waitress came back and apologized. Then she said that they will not charge for the soup. However, at the end they added the soup on the bill and we paid for it, even though we didn t eat the soup. This service is not accepted.

We ordered a family tray and a sashimi. All fish look good and tasty. Except the cucumber roll which stuff with harder cucumber skin! Parking: There is a little mall. A lot of parking area.

This was the best sushi I have ever had. Every single thing we ordered was fresh and delicious. They seemed to be short staffed that day so service was a little slow but honestly the food makes up for it. I would rather amazing food and wait for it than low quality bland dishes. I would highly recommend this place and the next time I m in town my family is stopping by. 100% recommend this sushi.

Literally the best sushi I ve had in a long time. I ve ordered it TWICE in the last week- can t get enough. Fish is SO fresh and everything tastes incredible.

Could have been better...sushi just barely held together. Teriyaki chicken was only passable cos chicken should have been grilled, not just cooked. wont be back.

Its a small place, good for family.

Came here for the first time for a friends birthday party. One of the staff overheard that it was her birthday and they served us a sushi pizza (which is a really weird idea for a dish but absolutely delicious) for free with small pile of rice with a candle in it! Since then I persuaded my family to come and try it out and man, we reaaally love this place. The food is very high quality, and while the sushi is slightly smaller than other popular sushi places, every single bite is sooo good. My whole family really loves sushi and we can be a little picky about the quality of our sushi, but we have never had any complaints about the food here. Our family has been coming here for three or four years now, and while we dont come as often as wed like because the price is a little higher than we budget for, we usually come for birthday dinners The staff are all SO nice and they make us feel like they genuinely care about their customers. They also serve ice cream tempura and its my favorite special desert. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves quality sushi!

Very attentive service and the food was served quickly. Well presented. Pot of tea was a nice touch. We found there to be a lot of sause/mayo in the rolls we ordered, but it could have just been the one we selected.

Amazing sushi just a 5 minute walk from Holdom Skytrain Station! Very kind and quick service. A variety of classic and unique/special rolls made with quality! Highly recommend :) Ice cream tempura is a must try!!

Really really average neighborhood restaurant. Raq fish was not fresh at all, tempura were greasy. I cannot recommend anything on the menu.

One of the top sushi places I have tried in Burnaby ! Their service is super friendly and they make you feel like home. Recommend their crazy girl roll and ice-cream tempura. Yum ! I have heard from a lot of people that the taste of all items here is very authentic. Highly recommend this small joint for a sushi evening. Lots of free parking available. Update : Recently tried their hot noodle soup and vegetable spring rolls. Super tasty. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian items available. Veg spring rolls are delicious. Parking: Plenty of free parking spots available in front of the strip mall.

Convenient spot for tasty sushi. They offer brown and black rice as well for a little extra. Restaurant is small and cozy, but not suitable for larger parties. Food is good, but has gotten a little pricey...but I guess most places have. Located in Parkcrest square in North Burnaby near Holdom Station. All the servers are very nice and do a good job.

It is necessary to ask their bosses how they gathered such liars and mess-loving personnel together. They just have that stupid smile. The delivery times they said are false, the products they prepared are wrong. If there ever was a world dum contest, my favorite is Sushi U. I think theyre nasty time thieves:(

I have been eating at this restaurant on a weekly basis, since moving to Burnaby almost two years ago. The sashimi and sushis freshness is cleanly reflected in the superb quality of the dishes served here! The jovial atmosphere always includes service with a smile. Heartfelt congratulations to sushi-chef Ron!

Paid 20 bucks for short ribs combo to go, supposed to come with miso soup, what I got was very little rice, few soy sprouts and 6 tiny short ribs. Paid 7 bucks for spring rolls and they gave me 6 mini spring rolls, tasteless, probably bought at cotsco. Overpriced and food is very basic. Will not order again

Terrible customer service

Another hidden gem! Rarely in Burnaby area but came all the way from Vancouver westside to give this place a try and definitely did not dissapoint us. Food came out so fast and everything was so tasty!! However, chicken karage was missing a sauce but i topped it with spicy mayo- did not regret dipping in! We were left with happy satisfied belly:)

I tried Sushi U on a whim when I was in the Burnaby area. Sushi was average and service was not as attentive as I had hoped, especially with my party being the only diners there at the time. Their fried ice cream was the highlight of our meal.

I had a delicious meal.. The friendliness and clean interior and atmosphere seem to have enhanced the taste of the food.

Excellent food and service! Don t let the outside stop you from coming in. The exterior and the interior of the restaurant are not that fancy but their rolls were so good. We ordered Tiger roll, Yam roll, Dragon roll, California rolls, Udon and a couple of other rolls. Tiger and Yam were to die for! I had to order another Yam roll because I ve never had anything like it before. The tea was so good and the ice cream they gave us at the end were yummy too! Our boys loved the little candies they handed out at the end as well. Happy place!!

Small restaurant but the tables are spread widely, spacious, music makes the perfect vibes. The food is amazing, especially their Salmon joy and beef joy, absolutely unique and high quality.

Really really really good food! Was really shocked considering its in this very random strip mall, but dont let that fool you. So worth it. We picked up our food so didnt stay to enjoy the atmosphere, but looks super clean. Would recommend 100%!

Good sushi, good price happy customer! I had the assorted sashimi with unagi nigiri. Unagi was really tasty and sashimi was good quality and portion for price. The sashimi only came with 6 pieces but they were probably twice as thick as some of the other sashimi I ve had in the area, so overall I think it was a good price. Quality of the fish was good as well. I am always in search of a place with good nigiri, so I ll be coming back.

Got delivery.sushi pizza and fried California rolls. Staff went to no lengths to prevent soggyness even when they knew that the delivery person would arrive late for pickup. After a long day at work, this was disappointing

The food here was simply amazing! My U Special Bento A was so fulfilling! The best were dynamite rolls & tempura from the whole set. The service was a little bit slow, that was my only concern. Otherwise this place next to the skytrain station is an absolute gem!

Got the sushi/sashimi bento for lunch. Good value - reasonable portions and very filling. Fish tasted fresh and they gave large slices of the sashimi. Salad was refreshing. Not many tables inside so I imagine it gets busy during rush hour. Would return to try other things on their menu.

Having been a loyal, but infrequent customer, for over 7 years, due to Covid and My work schedule, My expectations were always pretty high for Sushi U. So, on My last order, a take out, one of the items was poorly prepared and barely edible. Out of respect for the place and Our long relationship, I called in and was given a credit for the item. Today, the team there more than made up for the mistake. I was given the refund in cash, and a free replacement of the item . That, and possibly the best Bento Ive had, anywhere. Top Marks for the quality, value and service. Parking: Always lits of spots

!! Dopest sushi joint in Vancouver! Dont let the outside change your judgement, inside is a beautiful little nestled sushi parlor with an awesome menu of hot and cold options. I hauled a Sushi and Sashimi Bento and replaced for a Dynamite Roll all with brown rice, super yummy!! This was truly delicious and at a good value for money. The Miso Soup was also one of the freshest and least saltiest I have tasted in a while. A great plentiful stuffed portion of sushi rolls and some big fat yummy Sashimi! The service is a little slow and disorganized, but worth the eventual wait. The staff are super friendly, approachable and awesome at making super tasty grub! They are also so accommodating that you can edit the fantastic lunch bentos with another standard roll if you wish as well as subbing brown rice. Support local businesses!

I dont typically write reviews for sushi or Japanese restaurants, because theyre usually at least pretty decent to great but recently I came across this piece of work. It stood out to us so much that I felt the need to finally chime in with a review. This was by far the worst Japanese food weve ever ordered and we love our seafood, udon, and agedashi. The tofu tasted so stale and nasty, it would make my Japanese girlfriend shake her head. Their yakisoba had only 2 pieces of shrimp tail-in, 1 tiny and I mean tiny piece of imitation crab meat, and what looked like a couple micro pieces of dried scallops. The rest was all noodles, which tasted more like Chinese satay. The complete opposite in quality compared to Osaka Sushi, which we had just the night before...and we saved only 2 bucks from trying this place! First and last time here -- were going to stick with the tried and true.

Food is well portioned especially in the U boxes. I enjoy ordering multiple items but this combo has got me satisfied and full. The ice cream tempura is bomb as well.

I love this little gem in Burnaby! The staff are kind and know the locals which is always a good indication for repeat customers! We really enjoy their sashimi and salmon dishes. Enclosed picture is just some of the take out feast my sister requested for her birthday. It is good comfort food and their sushi platters are always a hit at events or pot luck gatherings (or personal couch potato-ing ). Please give them a try and I hope you enjoy their food and service!

Great spot for a really tasty Bento Box.

I gave 3 stars because I dont know if its any good. I feel I was duped into believing they delivered. Theyre web post indicates delivery but after choosing a full order on their site it only accepts pick-up in the options.

I eat sushi 4-6 times a week. This place is THA BEST hands down in all of British Columbia. Clean and the food is very yummy and fresh I would give them 10 stars . Staff are great and friendly. It s a hidden Gem.

Consistently good sushi. My go to in the area. My one fairly large complaint is that on large pickup orders ($150-$500), theyre not good at fulfilling them at a high standard. They are consistently behind schedule (aka theyre too optimistic on time). Ive had to wait 20-40 minutes longer than expected. In addition, they usually forget a condiment, such a soy sauce or chopsticks on these orders. Not sure why. I may have to try other places for large orders now.

Cute sushi spot hidden in a neighborhood. A bit chilly inside, but weather outside is frosty too. It was very quiet on a wednesday night, immediately seated. The menu appears to have recently been updated to reflect the current inflation/economy. A bit pricy but good quality sushi and sashimi.

Charged almost 14$ for a dragon roll. Baisicly california roll with no trace of avocado with tiny amountof ell on top. Worst sushi ever

We had an awesome dinner here! 2 adults, 2 children. Our server was so friendly & attentive. We ordered a dinner bento box, edamame, spicy salmon roll, vegetable roll, California roll and dynamite roll! We were stuffed and had leftovers :) Very high quality sushi, nice interior, and excellent service! We will definitely be back- and we noticed that takeout was very busy too. Will also say that they accommodated a gluten free order, along with gluten free soy sauce.

Ordered here several times and the food is always delicious, and service is friendly. Plenty of parking in the plaza parking lot too. The amount of sauce (spicy sauce, teriyaki sauce) they put on can be inconsistent. Sometimes it s a good amount, and other times it s not enough. The food quality is still really good though! Would recommend.

Previous review... Used to come here years ago, its changed hands but its a great stop. I can really sense the pride in the work and the food is fantastic as well as the service. The server had the sweetest voice she reminded me of a Japanese version of the French singer Claudine Longet. Updated review - new staff, owner and name? 1 star, staffed with fat girls in track pants. Most unprofessional. No tip for you the debit machine didnt work twice, then after I pay theres no one in the place she says 20 min or 15 then Im like what?!? I food comes in 5 bullsheet. Millennial dumpster dive trash here. The crows come from miles around to take the garbage they dont put into the trash bin. My friend who lives close has chicken bones and shrimp tails in his yard daily as they are lazy born sites working here.

Cool place with a good atmosphere and great sushi. It s unassuming on the outside but modern on the inside. The salmon sashimi was clearly very fresh and all the employees were incredibly nice. I d definitely come back here again

Hidden away in Parkcrest Plaza, this has been our goto sushi place for years now. We ordered a lot of takeout from here during the pandemic, and it has consistently been well prepared, fresh, and they always got our order right. Now that we have returned to dining in, we are reminded about how friendly their service is, and how great their sushi is. Give the aburi sushi a try!

Food is way over priced due to small portion and high price, also does not taste very good.Aburi toro tastes dry, yes, you read it right, toro taste dry, this is a first ever since I first ate toro about 20 years ago. Service and attitude is also bad, there is just no reason to eat there, as there are soooooo many better sushi place in Burnaby.

Great Food, sushi made fresh. Unfortunately weve had several bad service experiences. Many times well wait close to a hour for our food, when we arrive the food is still not ready. The last straw, I ordered online, it showed 45mins for pick up, when my husband arrived, they had trouble finding the order and noticed they had not put in the order. Hardly any apology and they asked him to wait an additional 20mins. At that point we were hungry and frustrated, we told them to cancel the order. Will be going back to our consistent Sushi Town and Sushi California going forward.

The plain udon was too sweet and a little salty, probably because it only had tsuyu in it, so I didnt like it. The rolls were large and the sushi had a lot of rice. I enjoyed the fried salmon and fried ice cream served as a service. Its a good place to just eat casually.

I am a hard to please diner. I have worked in kitchens predominantly my entire life and hold every place to that standard. Absolutely amazing food. Did not find a single thing wrong with our meal. We had ordered for 8 people so was a very large order. Everything perfectly cooked, seasoned and Hot and OMG fresh and yummy. So so so recommend

This has been our go to Sushi place in North Burnaby for a while. The staff are very friendly and try to make everyone feel welcome.

Order for pickup ready on time and fresh. Appears to be a young group of friends or family.

Update: ordered from here again July 31st - the rice was perfect not mushy or undercooked and definitely better than the first time we ordered. Pretty good sushi around my sisters place. The rice is a tad hard but i would rather have it that way than mushy rice.

Really enjoy eating at this small sushi joint. Its close to home and the service is always great. The sushi is definitely a Korean style sushi but have some pretty good aburis and they have these sushi bombs that are killer. I highly recommend coming here for a decent price and good sushi.

Coming here for years. Food is excellent and generous. Attitude and efficiency is great. We order take out and seldom a problem. Unfortunately you have to frequently ask for the free Edemame.
