3726 Canada Wy, Burnaby, BC V5G 1G4, Canada
Understated Japanese restaurant offering sushi rolls, sashimi & nigiri, plus noodles & donburi.
This place is the best Sushi east of Boundary! Hidden gem of Burnaby and probably even Vanvouver! We've been coming for a couple years now and the fish is always fresh and the preparation and presentation is top notch! Also, the service is amazing. The servers are super patient and helpful. 12/10! Will be a customer for life!
With the price I have to say it didn’t deliver the freshness of good quality sashimi. It was quite disappointing. The special rolls are not impressive and the waygu beef sushi is very mediocre. Not recommended for sashimi lovers.
Good quality fish, great service and decent prices. Their BC roll is probably the best I've tried compared to other sushi spots, every time I've ordered it; the salmon skin tasted so fresh and crispy. Reservation is recommended if you plan on going on Saturdays or during dinner time on weekdays. Free parking is available behind the restaurant.
Cool sushi spot on Canada Way with decent options, selection, and fresh food. The restaurant is busy, so a reservation is highly recommended. The food is pretty good, would come back again if I am in the area. The prices are on par with most sushi places today, so I can’t say there’s great value. There’s street parking and parking in the back, so it’s not too hard to access. Overall, solid sushi restaurant with good selection of food - worth a visit if you’re in the area and craving sushi.
Small restaurant with nice vibes, attentive service, and fresh sashimi. The rolls we ordered tasted similar to rolls ordered at common Japanese sushi restaurants. Tempura came out quickly and crunchy. Would go back again.
I really liked their oyster motoyaki. Their rolls were good. I saw a lot of reviews recommending the Ika kaarage but ours came over-fried and had a bitter taste contributed. Overall, it was a good experience.
We came here on a Sat during lunch hours there were only 3 tables. The place is nice and clean, and the service was good. We had the tekka don, Ika salad, and a scallops roll , the bill came to $48. It is on the expensive side. Normally I can have a lunch box for less than $20. But this place is $25. At this neighborhood, the restaurant should be packed during Sat lunch if the price is not that high. The tuna was slightly marinated, maybe because it wasn't as fresh. The scallops in the roll was a little bit fishy, but the calamari was good and salad was fresh .
Late meal with Takara… I always meant to come by here but whenever I have time, it’s either closed that day or I am too late. Finally managed to sneak away myself for a last minute date with Takara to see what she’s all about. This place is located on the south side of Canada Way close to Boundary Road. I managed to find free street parking in front. Inside can be described as a small little cozy place with about 10 tables and a 1/2 dozen seats along the bar. The little meal I ordered for myself; 1. Small hot sake. Just the generic one 2. Soft shell crab. Personally, a little bit too much batter and the batter was a bit too elasticity to my liking. 3. Oyster motoyaki. Basic straight to the point the way I like it sometimes; fresh oysters nicely baked thoroughly on their shells, caramelized little crust on top, and on a little bed of sliced mushrooms and spinaches. Loved it!! 4. Assorted sashimi. Everything was decently fresh but considering they were smaller bite size portion, a better chef’s choice would’ve been nicer for $35. 5. Tuna toro, ikura, uni, tamago nigiris. Everything was decently fresh and tasty. Overall, pretty much a straightforward little cozy Japanese restaurant. The food was fresh and tasted okay for what they were, but always room for improvements. The staffs and servers were friendly and informative of the food being served. It’s a nice little cozy place to enjoy a bit of casual sushi if you are in the area. However, if you are looking for money value with generous portions then I suggest somewhere else such as Sushi Garden or Sushi California, etc… A repeat for me whenever I crave for some oyster mototaki or uni… solid 3 stars
This place so far is my favorite sushi joint in Burnaby. Excellant fresh sushi and decent prices. Small place located right off Boundry Road. I could eat here a few times a week. Make reservations this place is busy especially on weekends.
Really enjoyed everything we had. The atmosphere is cool and the food came out very quickly!
Decent sushi, chinese run. The toro is a bit lower quality than other restaurants for the price point but the unagi quality is to die for. Overall decent sushi and great quality.
No word of a lie, top 3 best sushi spots Vancouver/Burnaby. Double tuna roll, sunshine roll, spicy tuna roll, Nigri, Wakame salad, spicy agedashi tofu - unmatched
I love this place!! It s so good. Always worth the wait
Tried once before food tasty good, but today I ordered uber eats pickup. Find a live bug inside the box.
The food is incredible, very elegantly plated and has a good flavor. The place is rather small so they may usher you out when youre finished, however I imagine its to free up the seats, no malice behind it.
I happened to be in the area so I tried this place for lunch as the reviews were decent. The food is just average, and definitely over priced... The restaurant only had two seated tables when I arrived, and it was weird that they seated me next to another diner, instead of all the other empty tables in other corners. I wont be returning as there are better and more authentic sushi places in Vancouver. Operated by Chinese staff... which is not a problem, but the quality really did not live up to the price on the menu.
I wish I could give them 6 stars great service everything was delicious definitely recommend this place
The Nabeyaki ramen was the best ramen I have ever had, hands down. The Philly roll and Banzai Roll were superb. Everything was so flavorful, delicious, and easily worth the price.
Very good food. The veggie bento box was excellent.
Kid-friendliness: Kind Food
Its the go to Lunch Sushi Spot in the surrounding Area. Its FAST, FRESH, QUALITY, CLEAN. Noodles, Rolls, Appies are all great. The wait staff is alert and attentive. Constantly filling up Tea and Water. Would highly recommend!
Always great food. Staff exemplary! Our go to place when we have out of town guests! Food
It s a tiny store along the street. All the aburi sushi and nigiri are good. Sashimi is fresh. Recommend Quail Egg Wagyu and Foie Gras!
The fish here is amazing. Decor and ambiance is fantastic, and the price is especially reasonable. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for reasonably priced sushi at a high quality. Parking available in the back off of Laurel st.
One of Burnaby s best sushi spots
My favourite local sushi spot. Delicious fresh dishes, great staff, excellent service, very friendly. The menu has your standard sushi and Japanese restaurant options with several vegetarian dishes. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I consider this a favorite for weeknight or lunch dates. Also a great option for take out or delivery. Vegetarian options: Various veggies dishes and combos Parking: Parking in the back, access off Laurel Street
always order food from them from Uber , today I decided to order the sushi combo with California roll and 6 pieces of chef choices sushi. it taste good but the chef only choose cheaper sushi for the combo and I end up paying 7c more then if I pick my own. I understand it is almost nothing but you dont suppose to pay the chef to choose the sushi for you
Fast service. Good food.
Used to go eat at Temaki when Tommy and Hil were working together ,glad to see both of them doing their own thing and killing it . It was a pleasure coming here.
Ordered salmon and tuna don, was way too small for 20$ for lunch, was not even half full. Sushi was not fresh and the quality was bad. It is not worth eating here, would not recommend. I asked for a bigger table and was denied when more than half the restaurant was empty.
You must try this place. Amazing thick noodles, and the Yakisoba just taste amazing! The mango one piece sushi has a great taste and everything is perfect. It is expensive but its a good deal if you want good sushi. They also have gelato for desert. Best sushi I ever had. Definitely a must try!!!!
Ridiculously expensive but I have to admit their food is very good. Will avoid this place though due to the steep prices.
Great sushi and prices! Super fresh. They have really good lunch combos too.
It s nice quality sushi definitely better than sushi garden. Parking: There is parking in front or in the back of the place. Kid-friendliness: They have plastic cups
Just lost my loyal business. Went to pickup my takeout order and staff member pushed the 20% tip option herself before handing me the machine.
Cute little sushi place with nice decor near Boundary. Really liked their spicy salmon roll probably one of the best I ve had at any restaurant. Also got the dragon roll and squid karaage which were solid. Reasonable prices on par with other sushi places. Will come back again!
The sushi here was delicious. Prices are very reasonable and service was great. Would highly recommend!
Great local sushi spot, highly recommend! Tommys super hospitable whenever we come in, sitting at the bar is definitely the way to go.
Its top notch sushi. Quality and service come first here.
The soy sauce was too salty and covered the flavor of the food, causing me to drink water all the time.
Super fresh sashimi and friendly staff! I love sitting by the bar watching the sushi chef work their magic. They are quite busy during dinner time so make sure to make a reservation.
Weve been here many times and the food is always absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for good quality sushi!
Great food, friendly service! Parking isnt ideal.
Fresh food, good service but can feel crowded during peak dining periods.
Consistently good quality and fresh ingredients used in their sushi. Pricing is a bit higher than your budget Japanese restaurant but you do get what you pay for.
Really great sushi restaurant, wonderful menu and the sushi was super fresh and tasty. Service was also fast. I recommend maybe having a reservation a bit of busier day
The prices werent the cheapest, but thats a given for sushi nowadays. However, the quality of the food, especially the sashimi, were superb. The decor is quite nice, clean, and modern. Atmosphere was pleasant. The food came fairly quick on a Saturday evening. The overall friendliness/warmness of the servers did vary a bit from neutral to friendly. My only suggestion is that some servers could be a bit friendlier. Overall, Im very pleased with the experience and would recommend it!
Amazing!! The sushi was fantastic! We also tried the Wagyu beef with quail egg and it was absolutely incredible. Definitely recommend!
Finally made it! Mind you not dinner but lunch. Service is impressively quick. on Didnt have to wait long for our boxes! Was quiet for a Wed but I am not complaining. Will try to fight the crowds to experience the dinner hype!
Definitely above average in this town of endless Japanese restaurants. True test of a good restaurant is if customers go back. I would definitely go back to Takara. Food : 5/5
The best food in Vancouver is a restaurant in the old days.
Some of the best sushi I ve had in Greater Vancouver at a fair price
I hate to leave this review but I was quite displeased with the service. I placed a phone order for pickup and when I arrived to the store they said they had no order under my file. I showed them my phone log to show them the phone call that was placed to which the worker said she did not get a phone call of that sort. I confirmed with her if that was indeed their store number, to which she confirmed. I can understand if mistakes happen, but what was disappointing was how she handled the situation by not apologizing. Instead, she kept getting defensive and kept trying to say she didnt receive the phone call order and that she was the only one who picked up the phone calls at that time. I hope that this was a one off situation because I do enjoy eating Takara because of the quality of the food. However, in this case, the service did not reflect that.
1 of the best sushi places in the area. Prices are fair.
Service was not good. Made a reso for 8 people so 18% gratuity was automatically applied. The waitress seemed to have a hard time understanding English and got our order wrong. She didn t offer to make up for her mistake, we had to pay extra to re-order the correct order. Food was decent but would not go back because of the bad service. There are many more sushi restaurants in town with better service to choose from.
Ordered take out here, the prices are really expensive for what you get and the location to be honest. The food wasn t any better than a regular sushi restaurant, I would probably order somewhere else for more value and same quality ingredients and food choices
Theyve got a pretty large menu, so they have a good selection of sashimi and sushi. Service is friendly and theyre priced well. If youre going during peak hours, make sure to make a reservation. Also theres parking in the back which makes it convenient.
Best sushi in Vancouver area
Close to my place and the sushi is good here, Ill come more often.
Quick stop on the way home due to traffic, great location (close to highway and Canada way), parking can be a challenge ( I parked in Charlie s chocolate factory space as they were closed). Lovely staff, beautifully presented food. Not overly heavy on the rice which I appreciated. Maybe more mushrooms in the Nabeyaki, chopped scallop nigiri was loaded, so good. Prawn tempura (comes with the Nabeyaki) light, crispy and warm. A bit pricy but would definitely come again.
Great fresh board order those as they run out. Also liked the chirashi. Cosy familiar setting we also ordered off neighbors table.
Loved this simple restaurant. And they had fresh yummy uni too! Everything was perfect freshness, temperature and cut. The oyster motoyaki was insanely good!
Very friendly host and people working here. We ordered Sashimi delux and sushi delux. Sashimi is fresh, sushi is with the right amount of rice while you can taste the sashimi on top. Nice Friday dinner with family here, will definitely come back!
Didn t want to be this person but it was very disappointing seeing the size of the salmon don. I bought takeout here, opened the box and saw 8 thinly sliced salmon pieces on top of the rice, and I was shocked. I came here because the reviews were high but this was so sad, wouldn t even call it salmon don, I would just call it salmon slices. I recommend sushi and roll
Great, high quality food!
Fantastic quality of food. More expensive than other sushi restaurants but it is worth it! Make a reservation in the evenings as it is quite small and gets busy
Ordered deluxe sushi set and dinner sushi bento box for two. Fresh ingredients, would definitely return.
Great Sushi, Great service. The owner is very welcoming!
Yum! Such a great spot for sushi in the Vancouver/Burnaby area. Lots of street parking around too. We arrived for dinner without a reservation and was given a spot at the bar right away. Service was prompt and we got some hot tea right away. The sushi was really great! The aburi sushi were my favorite - can t go wrong with the whole menu!
Very fresh and tasty sashimi and nigiri. Their nigiri price is quite affordable and mostly around $3.75 to $5 a piece. The restaurant gets quite busy for dinner, better to make a reservation. Recommended dishes
My gosh. This sushi was amazing. Try the tuna gomae, you will not regret it. The staff is so nice also. It was all just so great. We came at around 5pm which was good because by 630pm it was pretty busy. Will have to come back asap
Fast service. Delicious sushi. It was jam packed when I arrived. I order to go and tried out their spicy sushi dolls. I would reccomend this sushi restaurant
Ordered their deluxe sashimi, Chicken Teriyaki Don and chopped scallop sushi. Sashimi is fresh and not many places have Engawa sushi (ask if they have that day).
Great sushi here. Excellent rolls! Great service as well
One of the best places for sushi around. Great service and good prices. Place is not huge and gets very busy, try to get a reservation for the weekends
Came for dinner and was seated at an appropriate time. We were able to order right away and ordered one don and 3 rolls. We had to wait almost 55 mins for 3 rolls! We checked with our server at one point to see if our order had actually gone through and was told that it was and that it was coming. Waited an additional 20mins until our orders started coming. There was no acknowledgement or apologies for the long wait. Also, after receiving our rolls servers forgot our soy sauce and when we pointed it out, the server took the dirty soy sauce bottle from the table beside us who left earlier and gave it to us. We wanted to like this place was but was overall a disappointing experience.
Wow. Their aburis were so good
salmon belly sashimi (11) / toro sashimi (11) / hamachi sashimi (26) / spider roll (13) / red dragon roll (17)
Had a super lunch with a couple of friends, all very nice
Everything is good! So Yummy! Engawa and Wagyu are the best! Will come again to try other dishes.
Parking: Free parking around back Food
Great food, friendly and attentive servers, TONS of menu options and not too expensive, and of course green tea refills:) Kind of a small place and it fills up so it might be a good idea to reserve. Definitely recommend!
Very friendly staff and everything is prepared really well. Delicious!
Amazing sushi. Tried the Dynamite, California, Sockeye Avocado and Chicken Teriyaki rolls. Reasonably priced as well.
Usually pretty busy during dinner time. Just a little bit more expensive than the cheapest options around the city. Thing like the asparagus stack is really good but pretty pricy for how much asparagus there actually is. Decent service and food came pretty quickly. Plenty of vegetarian options too.
It is small with limited seating. Their food is amazing and the menu has an excellent selection.
Oyster motoyaki was to die for. Bathrooms and customer service were immaculate. A little high in price and very small and crowded space. But I would return.
Decent food, slightly on the pricey side. Seems like the rolls are partially made by machine, not sure if thats the reason they dont stay together very well Food
My go to sushi place . Small cozy restaurant and great service! Whenever I come here I always get the foie gras nigiri and the wagyu nigiri with quail egg on top (optional) so good! The rice ratio to the topping ratio is good. The prices are also on the fair side not overly expensive but you can definitely taste the quality of the food here. 10/10 ~
Had the salmon sashimi (8 pc). Honestly pretty disappointed. Tasted ok but was about $6 more expensive than I m used to for a smaller portion. I probably won t come back.
Very clean. Great Japanese food. Good variety. Give their asparagus stack a try. They have ramen here along with aburi sushi. Stroller friendly. Parking in the back. Chef puts love into their food. They have toddler friendly bowls and cutlery.
Delicious
Great sushi and amazing quality!
Sushi enthusiasts, this place is worth a visit! Indulge in their fresh sashimi bowls, and be pleasantly surprised by their teppanyaki offerings. The chicken katau is tasty and flavorful. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. Dont miss out on this hidden gem for a satisfying sushi adventure!
Very nice quality for the price. One of the best sushi place in burnaby
One of my favourite restaurants to go to in Burnaby. The sushi is fresh, delicious and tasty. The staff are attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is quaint and inviting. I would recommend getting the Red Dragon roll and the Banzai roll, both are really tasty and have great flavours. The sushi here is worth its value and I will come back again!
Very small portion. We end up to buy a $10 doner next door after spending $140
Great place with good quality food! Staff is friendly and portions were filling!
Sushi was ok, nothing to weite home about compared to other places. However, the price makes it hard to see it as competitive with so many other choices.
Comfortable, quick service, high quality ingredients. Very good experience.
I went here for lunch with a friend today and the place was full of happy customers. Tommy the Chef welcomed us with a hearty hello and made us feel like family. The sushi is a bargain at the prices and hits the spot youre trying to fill. Top notch establishment all around!
Come here nearly weekly for takeout. Great sushi and would recommend to anyone.
My favorite sushi place in all of Vancouver. We moved out of town and we still come back to this sushi place. Most friendly staff, run by the sweetest family. Fresh fish and excellent chefs!
One of best sushi in the area. Great value but most importantly, great quality
This is top tier sushi for an incredible price considering the quality and consistency. Have come here 10+ times are my wife and I are always super pleased. Thank you!
Food was fresh and tasty!
Some of the best sushi I have had with some wonderful staff. Get one of the gelatos
Love this place, so fresh. But long wait times
Food and service was great, however I thought the sashimi slices were thinner than usual.
Loved the cozy space and aesthetic of the restaurant. Our server Vee was a sweetheart, consistently creating conversation :) and service was so fast! Loved their uni
Overall everything was very delicious and food came relatively fast but it was a little bit pricey in my opinion. They ordered the chicken karate, salmon oshi and a bunch of rolls (which I cant remember the name of)
Authentic Japanese experience. Oyster appetizer was awesome and the prices are not bad for the quality!
While the service was friendly and the food was good, adding a 15% service charge to a party of 2 isnt cool. It left a sour taste in my mouth. Just raise the prices of the menu items.
Food was good but a bit pricey. The service was so so.
I love the sushi here! Their ingredients are so fresh and every bite is so delicious. Their miso soup was very tasty and not as salty as other restaurants. Can t wait to be back soon! Side note, I would highly recommend making a reservation.
We went to this place for their sushi, everything was going great until we finished up and they took away our plates. The billing immediately came, which is definitely NOT the problem, (it is quite normal, you would want to look at your total) however, the card machine was also given at the exact time. (And when it expired, it was immediately typed in again, and the staff was waiting for me to pay) We had just finished and it seemed like they were hurrying us out. The customers around us were not treated the same way, and when we ask them if they were rushed, they said yes, yet it was only 1:20pm and they close at 3pm. So this gets me thinking, if they have good quality food, yet the customer service is this poor, why would I come back to be treated this way? Adding even more to this problem, this was the second time we visited and the customer service was quite similar to this. The food here is good, but I wouldn t come back to be rushed out like this again.
Bento box was very overpriced and food was mediocre. Nothing too outstanding. Tea was good
Got takeout - fresh fish, good value! Nothing bad to say.
Its been awhile since Ive had good sushi. You can tell Tommy takes care of the craft.Everything was fresh. Space was clean. Rice was perfect. Service was fast. Will come again.
Friendly staff (especially the chef at the bar) food is more expensive than average but makes up for it by being WAY better than average. My all time favourite sushi place in BC
Price is more expensive but not better than other sushi restaurants
First time trying this restaurant. Food quality is good but the teriyaki rice portion is very small. Barely enough for my kid.
Wow that was really good sushi. The rolls were nicely made and a great balance between fish and rice. Im definitely coming back again.
Parking: Only 1 hour at the back, if 1 and a half or 2 hrs, do not have to find street parking. Recommended dishes
Excellent rolls
HIGHLY recommend this quaint tucked away gem!! We travel all the way from the Okanagan to experience their mouth watering food! To start, all of the staff are incredibly welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. We usually sit and the bar as you get a full transparent view of the chefs working their magic. One of the chefs we routinely see there is Toni, who is phenomenal at his job!! He is super engaging with customers, extremely efficient, kind and incredibly generous! Very reasonable prices, high quality ingredients and all the food comes out in a very timely matter. Definitely a favourite place to add to your list!
Food was great but service style was brash and has room for improvement.
Absolutely delicious sushi and noodles. Staff was very welcoming to us. Definitely would eat at again.
Food was tasty. Prices are average. They were able to accommodate for 8 people without any notice which was great.
The food was fresh and tasted wonderful!!
A delightful experience! We dropped in without reservations on a busy Saturday night and were seated at the last free table. We ordered an assortment of rolls to share, my fave being the Salmon Avocado Roll, but they were all so fresh and good. Especially appreciated the still warm and crispy tempura prawn inside the dynamite roll! We also noticed/appreciated that they don t use too much rice in the rolls. A perfect ratio. Can t wait to come back and try the sashimi!
Came here randomly on a Friday night and so happy we did because this place is a hidden gem. Some of the best sushi I ve had in Vancouver - so fresh and melts in your mouth. Also amazing service and super friendly owners.
I couldnt get the name of our server but she was a gem. Very charming and sociable. The food was amazing, zero complaints here!
Excellent food and service. I tend to go there once every couple of weeks, and the food is consistently tasty. The staff is very friendly and they have excellent memories as they always remember my order and work hard to reduce wait times. The place itself is on the smaller side and can get busy during lunch rush hour. Regardless I would recommend this place, and choose to go there regularly for my sushi fix.
I was lucky to get a table, as normally, people reserve a table. Great sushi and sashimi sets. Wish i can go back and eat some more, but I was only in vancouver for 2 days. :(
Great restaurant, awesome vibes. A bit of a wait on a Friday night but the staff were great. Sat at the bar and the sushi chefs were very friendly and hospitable. Sashimi quality is top notch and the space inside is bright and clean. Feels like a bit of a hidden gem and would definitely revisit!
Yummy at a reasonable price. Small restaurant so there may be a wait at peak times
Solid sushi restaurant i d recommend to anyone. Each piece of nigiri was above average quality. The quality of tuna has gone down the last couple years in many restaurants so i was pleasantly surprised with the taste and texture. My second order was a bit cold, but the taste made up for that. Service was not very good as there wasn t enough staff. The waitress could have been more friendly to make up for it. In summary Takara is a safe option for quality sushi in Burnaby.
Pretty good sushi lunch and dinner!
Authentic and good quality Japanese food. Will have to try dining in next time!
Excellent quality of sushi every time we go! Prices are moderate but worth the price. Take out is relatively fast depending on the time.
Delicious sushi. Tasted great and the service was good as well. My husband keeps asking when we can go back
The aburi sushi isn t as good as that which can be found at Minami, but the mackerel was amazing, as was the salmon with masago, and the paradise roll was *spectacular*!
We just made it in time to take two seats at the bar. Tables were full and bustling. We enjoyed a great variety of sushi and salad. We did not go home hungry. Thank you Takara Sushi!
A very delicious dinner option. Probably good for lunch too. The food is top-notch, the specials are amazing. Very kind and professional staff. Price is in line with the experience.
Popular restaurant nestled near Charlies Chocolate Factory. Reasonably priced. Curteous service. Prompt and teasty.
Cozy vibe, artful food, worth a visit. No complaints on food or service. Only just wish the ventilation was better.
Delicious fresh Chirashi don ! Recommended
Unassuming spot for sushi but it was a very pleasant surprise. Great staff, clean, and relatively quick service. Sushi came out beautifully presented and you can tell they use fresh ingredients; even the tea comes piping hot. The way they fry their stuff is *chef s kiss* everything has a welcomed crunch. May seem a little pricey, but it s worth it for what you re getting here.
Honestly below average. Not sure how this place is rated so highly. Tempura had way too much batter. Aburi Engawa nigri did not even melt in my mouth. If you ever had engawa you know this literally suppose to be super soft and melty. Dynamite role had way too much avacado and the shrimp was tiny. Chopped scallop cone and black cod was good.
Great restaurant. The quality and presentation of the food is always consistent. Favourite sushi restaurant around that area.
Good selection, attentive staff and a cute restaurant. Had the scallop and crab Motoyaki, Paradise Roll, Negitoro nigiri, California roll, Unagi roll, and tuna Tataki. The motoyaki was a bit on the salty side and the tuna tataki was only ok but the rolls were really good.
Overall great experience. Good service, decent and fresh food. We were fortunate enough to get a table right away on Tuesday for dinner. The restaurant got filled very quickly around 6 pm. Ordered delux sashimi, sushi combo, caterpillar roll, ika karage and California roll and oyster motoyaki. Ingredients were fresh (except shiso leaves used on Ika sashimi) and rolls were well balanced with flavours, packed with fillings. Ika karage was crispy and flavourful. Deluxe sashimi was good, but for the price, could use a bit more variety and finesse. Overall, enjoyed the food. ** update after another visit: the quality was a not as good as our last visit. Rolls were smaller, tako had a bit of off smell and some sashimi pieces were a little mushy. They did not have real crab meat so the roll we ordered had to be subbed with imitation crab (they let you know ahead that the price will be the same). It was okay overall, but not sure if it is worth the price anymore. Wonder what happened today.
Been here a few times and love it here. Service is friendly and the sushi is fresh and delicious. Their non-sushi fare is also pretty good, especially the motoyaki. Prices here are reasonable for the quality, would definitely recommend this restaurant.
I ordered here the first time last night. Food was ok and fairly priced. The Oyako don said it was simmered chicken with egg. It was actually breaded and fried and included glass noodles. I cant have bread and rice so I ordered the rice on the side for an extra amount for the container. Turns out I couldnt eat even the chicken and eggs themself because of the battering and added noodles. Wish that was mentioned instead of saying just simmered chicken. Had to discard it so that was a complete waste of food and money. Probably will not try it again, even though its probably tasty.
Sushi was well composed: tight roll, good rice-to-filling ratio, nice seasoning. Fast, effective, conscientious service. Reasonable price for the quality. We also enjoyed oyster motoyaki broiled to perfection and some straightforward agedashi tofu that was super hot inside and crunchy/sticky outside. Will be back :)
Very good quality and well-priced
literally the best sushi in burnaby. got the ika salad, salmon kama (was on special) and the assorted sashimi. ika salad was interesting and something that i ve never had, very vinegary and umami flavors. went in for lunch around 1 and was decently packed so i d recommend placing a reservation before coming in. staff are so friendly and greet you when you come in. little hole in the wall. literally salivating looking at these pictures.
Fantastic sushi .. portions are small but high quality
This place makes the best calamari
I was there with a friend for lunch, we were sitting at the sushi bar. Its a very comfortable restaurant, cozy and clean; staff were very friendly and efficient, we were chatting with the sushi chef; he was busy but still managed to chatted with us. The food were very good and the price is reasonable, this is a new spot for me to go for Japanese food.
Takara Sushi is the epitome of consistency in quality and great taste for a sushi restaurant; it never disappoints and always leaves me satisfied. I ve ordered takeout and delivery over 10 times now. It s everything I want from a sushi restaurant: fresh quality fish, consistency in their sushi rice, and relatively inexpensive. Highly recommended!
I dont understand how this place is highly rated. Quite possibly one of the worst sushi restaurants Ive been to in my life. From the food to the service, it was all around terrible. The servers are super friendly but not attentive as they take forever to take your order and bring you the bill. The food was amateur at best. Worst deep fried roll Ive ever had, below average salmon aburi and spicy salmon sashimi and a bland yakisobai. $55 down the drain
great food. friendly staff. ordered: Unagi Roll Tamago Roll Pacific Roll
Decent food and service. Not many vegan options though
One of the best sushi spots ever! The portion size and flavour is so spot on. Only thing is that Parking is a bit of a mess but there are some options. Regardless I can t wait to come back.
Awesome place. Highly recommended.
