Blending Thai concepts and integrating North American trendy taste, Green Basil Thai Restaurant offers unique Thai cuisine in the Greater Vancouver area.
GROSS !!! I should have listened to the reviews. I wouldn't feed this to my dog. Probably the worst Thai I've had in Vancouver.
We ate there last night. The service was very poor. never coming back there. The food was not flavourful and for some reason was super spicy. The lettuce noodle wrap was served with a soaking wet lettuce. The server was very rude. It is especially disappointing when you spend hard earned money only to get a bad dining experience. Never again.
We ordered the green curry and the massaman curry, both disappointed. The green curry was missing kaffir lime, which greatly diminished the flavor and authenticity of the dish. For the price, the presentation of the food is very lacking. It seems the kitchen put the minimum amount of effort into chopping the vegetables. While the portion sizes are good, I do not especially look forward to eating our leftovers. The Thai iced tea was a highlight and the waiter was very kind.
The portions are great for family meals given how big they are! Came with our family and we got to order a bunch of dishes and everyone could have a bit of each. Lots of fun drinks too — even fun non-alcoholic options.
Great food. Ordered the Combo for 4 and every dish was absolutely phenomenal. The Tom Yum Ta-Lay Soup was very flavourful. All other dishes were delicious and had a spicy kick to it, enhancing the flavour. There was one waiter in the restaurant at the time and it did take a while to get our order after we sat down. He did look like he wasn’t in a good mood but he still helped us get our meals as quick as possible. Would definitely recommend.
I saw a lot of review before I come here to eat because I'm craving Thai food. However I am very disappointed. I ordered a green curry with chicken it's taste like Can Curry in the supermarket. The salad even worst very bad only thing I like it is the soup Tom yum chicken. The price not cheap everage $20 per dish. They have around ten tables but only one server. At last they have no parking lot you need parking at the street. Don't waste money go there.
The food was good and clean place. The waiter was very nice and helpful. The only issue was there were not enough protein in the dishes. The beef pad Thai had couple of pieces of beef as well as the Tom Kha soup with chicken. There were more mushrooms than chicken . The fried rice had limited ground chicken in it. The cook really counted the amount of beef or chicken in those dishes. I'm not sure if I'll go back again unless they add more protein to their dishes.
Nice decor. Service was good and the Free parking behind the restaurant was convenient and appreciated. We went for dinner and ordered soup, chicken satay, mango salad, chicken wings, green curry, and Pad Thai. The Pad Thai and Green curry were flavorful. However I was confused that the curry didn’t come with any rice so we had to place a separate order for the rice which was charged on our bill. The appetizers except for the soup were average. I would recommend ordering the entrees over the appetizers.
Delicious Thai food, and great service! They have decent drink prices at happy hour. This restaurant is definitely worth a try.
Good food. A little slow. Average atmosphere.
I like this place. Its quiet, the waiter is accommodating to dietary issues and the service is fast. Some things are not available on the menu but overall its a relaxing place in a too fast paced city.
Food was good! Anthony the manager was so cool he was kind and attentive and gave us great service! Food was amazing. I would definitely recommend.
Great food and amazing service.
Excellent Thai food. Good quantity.
Their pad sew yew is definitely not your typical one. Uses pad Thai noodles and the taste is totally different unfortunately.
Best olay ever 100/10 would recommend
Had to leave without ordering because of rude behaviour of service staff. Totally pissed man and banging water n tables around us. Do not visit Service : 1/5
I loved the Tom kha, very delicious
Food was amazing
Got a veggie pad kee mao. Not great. Won t order again. The packaging was good though for the takeout. 6/5 for that! Food : 2/5
The yellow curry was the worst Thai curry I have ever eten. I have eten Thai curries in many countries including Thailand, but nothing as bad as this. It was too thick without spices, no flavour and way too much turmeric.
Ive been here dine-in and one take aways as well and honestly I dont know why it has a rating below 4. Never had a and experience myself, customer service is good and most importantly food id GREAT!! Finally a place that really breaks down spice levels perfectly. Ive tried multiple fried rices (not the pineapple one) and they have all been delicious. Green curry and tom yam soups are a must have as well. Its definitely not cheap but its not expensive either since the quantities are INSANE!! Pro-Tip - Order during Uber Eats discount days for a good deal!!
I went there with a couple of friends yestersay and ordered the red curry with beef. It was the singlemost flavorless curry I have ever tasted. Its almost like the chec forgot that seasoning exists, EXTREMELY disappointed in how bland and flavorless the curry was. I dont know about other peoples experiences but I am NEVER going back there. I normally dont get annoyed with trying new food places but I want my 24 dollars back
Always great food and great service. It s our favourite Thai restaurant in the lower mainland.
Ordered through uber eats. The good quantity was very little compared to the price. A calamary apetizer, for 14$, only had 10 rings of calamary in it. Same applies to a tom kha soup plus shrimp, which cost 17$, but was small for the price.
This is the worst Thai food Ive ever had in my entire life. Though Im not Thai myself, Ive tried numerous Thai food in Thailand as well as Hong Kong before experiencing it in Vancouver. The food in this restaurant is the farest u can imagine from authenticity, let alone tasty. The chef merely mix ingredients with asian sauces straight out from the bottles e.g. sweet and chili sauce in pad thai, sriracha in tong yum etc. resulting in an overbearing single flavor which is either too spicy, too salty or too sweet. I can almost tell the brand of the bottled sauces they used. Service was bad too, as we simply requested to have no chili in the pad thai for our kids, and was told that cannot be done rudely. (We later figured out why as they of course couldnt singled out the chili from the mixed bottled sauce) I can taste the perfunctory attitude of the chef in all dishes being served, which only suggests one thing, that is the chef and the owner are definitely not Thai him/herself, or else they would feel embarrassed to serve such kind of cooking and call it their home food, or they would at least have the picture of their respectable King hang on the wall just like all other Thai shops.
Green Basil Thai has been consistently good for many years now, both take out and dine in.
The food was not good. I had egg shell in my fried rice. The waiter served us food but we couldn t find him when we needed assistance. Wouldn t want to come back for another meal.
It took 40 minutes for them to serve our dinner. Looks like they re prioritizing takeout orders vs dine-in. Never going there again.
The portion is pretty big. Delicious food and so many options to choose from! I loved dining in!
Curry chicken on spinach. Lettuce bulking up under so not much spinach. Curry wasn t anything special either.
Food seemed more chinese than thai. Shrimps were extremely dry. Server was very efficient but seemed to be keen to get out of there for the night. Overall ok but not great. Maybe we chose the wrong things on the menu.
Tasty food, but its gotten too expensive. I paid $35 for the two item shown in my picture... Crazy.
My fiancé and i have been coming to Green Basil for the past few years, and it is amazing and always consistent! Great service as well
Ordered take out from this place and it s definitely not Thai food Thai is my fav cuisine and I have never eaten anything so bad
amazing food and service...never disappoints
The flavour of the food is amazing, great portion size. The happy hour for drinks is probably the best value compared to anywhere I have been. $3.50 highballs Would definitely come back.
Best grilled chicken
Very nice servers, good setting, great food.
Havent been here for a few years. Loved it then and still loving it.
Peak. Foods amazing. Food is of quality and comes quick. Portions are worth your money.
acc so good
Insane service. Best food ever. Delicious!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing place with amazing food, best Thai food I have ever had!
Finally they are upping the customer service of the place, much Deserved for the longest times I have been visiting this place. No doubt their food has always and is amazing.
This is my family s favourite place for Thai food. Their service is amazing. Their curry dishes and soups are great. There is free parking at the back.
Wheelchair accessible! Great service and great food!
Quite a lot of food for a reasonable price, waiters are nice
A pretty solid thai place with good portions and friendly service. Ive gone back several times.
The service was okay, food is good in it s own way, but you might be dissappointed if you are looking for an authentic Thai food. It is good if you prefer a westernized one. We ordered Papaya Salad, Grilled Chicken and beef Haw Mok. If you google it, the Haw Mok supposed to have a semi spongy texture and more herbal spices. However, this restaurant served it in a sweet curry soup form. It taste okay, but this dish cleary got westernized/ re-interpreted. The Papaya Salad (Som Tum) shreds are too small and socky. Also a bit too heavy on the nutty side. The Grilled Chicken was fine, but they don t serve Jaew (Tamarind chili dip sauce) make it a lot less authentic. Also the fact that they don t have sticky rice for Som Tum and Grilled Chicken was kinda disappointed me. Or maybe sticky rice is not too popular in Canada? Overall it is an ok one if you prefer westernized style of Thai food.
The green basil is awesome their food there s really really good
Excellent food, quality and services!
The best part of our experience was the service. Really great service, and the decor and atmosphere are nice as well. We tried a couple of their curries which unfortunately dont come with rice. It was pretty good but not great, and a little overpriced for the quantity and quality in my opinion. Parking: Paid street parking out front and a few free parking spots at the back.
Yummy food. Greens. Protein. Amazing service. These elements banded together to form this eatery. Wow. I am still in shock by the tastiness and large variety of food. Even more, the customer service left me speechless. Thank you, Green Basil. Thank you.
Found a new GEM of a restaurant! We ordered the lamb curry, Pad Thai (in tomato sauce) Tofu and vegetables. Also had the fried banana and ice cream for dessert. The food was on point in flavor, heat and quantity! This is my new spot for Thai food. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for superb and authentic tasting Thai food with quick and attentive service. Thank you Green Basil
Scallops in the pad Thai tastes spoiled, its definitely frozen scallops that didnt defrost properly and didnt cook throughout
Average Thai food
The Green Curry Chicken Special changed my life. Thank you Green Basil Thai Restaurant:)
Hands down best Thai in the Metrotown area. Go for the curries! Dining room is comfortable, staff was friendly and frequently of service. Vegetarian options: Extensive vegetarian options Parking: Limited, but free parking available at rear Kid-friendliness: Staff is very friendly to children
This was my first time eating at Green Basil and it was delicious, it was truly a one of a kind experience. The dining room was spacious and clean and the service was excellent, I will definitely come back with a friend next time. Vegetarian options: A lot of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. Parking: The street is pay to park but there was parking at the back of the restaurant, the back had limited spaces though.
A favourite for sure
The food had flat taste. Had soup and pineapple rice.
Amazing Tom yum soup and flavourful Cashew Chicken! Will go back for sure. Food : 5/5
The thai food here is always wonderful, highly recommend the yellow curry.
best post-shift meal! 5 star service 5 star food friendly and charismatic staff would 100% go again :) (1 missing spring roll bcs i ate it )
What a delightful group of people that work at this excellent restaurant. Each time I come I enjoy the food even more than the last. Again the girls knock it out of the park with service and the food was so yummy! Just a suggestion, but omgoodness, try their deserts. Mmmm Mmm!
Group of 6 went for dinner last week. Good food and service, I would definitely return
Each time we have visited the quality and taste of the food has been great and customer service is exceptional.
The reviews of this place make me think you have two sets of staff and cooks, people say they love it or worst ever. Our experience was the wait staff seemed annoyed that we didnt want to sit near the door (and cold draft) even though place was empty. Food was just OK, cooked properly, but no real flavour like other places I have tried; we were super hungry so ate it anyway. If the restaurant reads these, when you have tofu as a substitute for protien it should be more than just a few crumbles on that full serving platter.
Tom yum kung soup is too soup. Reg size soup is still too less to share between 3ppl. Surprise Chicken phat Thai has no bean sprouts or tofu at all. Same, it is too sour, but no spicy taste at all Food : 3/5
The food was great here! It was delicious and was very full after the meal. Their green curry was lovely and would order it again. My preference for pad Thai is that it would not be as sweet, but the noodles were cooked perfectly and the overall taste was really good. Highly recommend checking it out. Lovely small family business, would check them out again.
Unfortunately, this will be my first and last time order from you guys. If the curry is curry itself (not come with rice) then maybe you can put an option for add-on. For 23 dollars with more than 40min prep time, I got a small portion of curry without rice, it s ridiculous. I though maybe the staff forgot to put my rice in so I called and found out it doesn t come with rice. BTW while I am looking through the pictures, I saw a pic with rice. I guess this is the difference between dine in and delivery.
Honestly this place is pretty bad. Really.
During eating I found long black hair.
Worst food ever, no flavor, over priced, soggy, black hair in the curry absolutely horrible. Don t recommend eating here.
People PLEASE don t waste your money. I ordered over $120 worth of food .had I known how the food tasted I wouldn t have wasted my time and MONEY. We order food .picked it up everything was cold and soggy, panang curry was watered down no flavor what so ever .I ordered a cold beef salad with cucumber instead we got hot beef salad with zucchini
Not the best
takes too long for take out order..
The best Thai restaurant in Metrotown, is a must try destination
Ordered delivery. Ordered larb (chicken), Phat Bai Horapa, and coconut rice. Did not receive the coconut rice (which may or may not have been an issue with the driver). However, the larb and phat bai horapa tasted awful. I could only force 3 bites of each and ended up throwing them out. $40+ wasted. Ended up having a can of chunky soup instead. While I appreciate the Management appears to be responsive to Google Reviews, I cant see myself giving Green Basil Thai another try.
I would be giving 5 stars because the service was really great and the ambience was good despite a strange smell walking in...but unfortunately we all got food poisoning from here..
Overly expensive and bland!! Ordered through Uber eats and when I got the food I was so shocked. Their Tom yum soup came in a very tiny container that was finished in two sips. There was like NOTHING inside the soup and it was very bland. Their pad thai was soggy.. i ordered 4 dishes and theyre all a very big disappointment. Expensive and small. Definitely won t be back again.
Only dined in. Always excellent.
Lovely small family run restaurant with great Thai food.
Expensive but apart from food, very rude customer service and the guy servicing isnt respectful and cooperating at all especially while you are visiting the restaurant as an Uber delivery driver for pickups! Would never recommend to anyone if they want to have a good experience dining or Uber pickups. Reply to response: I have been a dine-in customer as well prior to my Uber Eats experience but never been satisfied with the service. Also, in terms of UberEATS driver experience, I simply asked the restaurant staff to give a review as a lot of restaurant folks do not know that they have an option to give a rating. To correct your fact and be accurate and truthful which I always am, I never made a call to your restaurant (especially with what you mention as any passing abusive comments) rather I came back inside as I had just stepped outside the store. I simply checked with the staff, the reason for their displeasant experience with me and he mentioned that he didnt see a bag but when I showed him and mentioned that I have fixed it with my e-bike to make it stiff, he mentioned rudely that he cannot change it now! I am sorry but I have worked with many businesses as a consultant or in other capacities but never really seen this kind of behavior and I do not mean any kind of racist behavior or so, but simply un-kind behavior towards every human. Also, please just take it as a feedback and try to improve on the same. I do not have any other intentions other than this from this review. Hope you understand and know the hard work that delivery drivers do every day to get your food to your customers in time and actually appreciate them a bit as your staff mentioned that he never gives a review to anyone whether good or bad and just gave it because I asked for it. Thanks.
Not even a food court level grade.
Ordered from this place with UberEATS. After waiting over an hour the app showed that the food wasnt ready yet. I canceled and ordered from another place.
Very delicious food, great service, very friendly staff, we will come back for their happy hour. Will definetly recommend to friends.
Food was good. Server refilled water actively. Prices are around $20 a dish but theres cheaper pad thai options. It was good experience. Opening ours are convenient as everything else in the area closes pretty early
When not Owners are so rude No thought this restaurant have so many bad reviews Not Thai owners Not Thai food Just a shame if a place Don t do this mistake of thinking about Thai food when ordering from this restaurant Horrible experience and even worse costumer service
Bland and terrible. I ordered pad thai and red curry. The Red Curry had very little flavour, was under salted, undercooked vegetables and didnt come with any rice. The Pad Thai had the most horrible sauce Id tasted. No trace of the most traditional ingredient: tamarind. The sauce instead tasted way too sweet and had more of a candy sour. It honestly just tasted like the sauce used for this dish was just leftover dipping sauce. Do not recommend.
The stir fry was so full of flavour. Will be coming back.
Spicyyyy like Thai food should be! We got the combo for 4 and it was perfect amount of food for us with happy full bellies. Great option if you want to try a few different things. Parking: Street parking outside
Been ordering from them for years. Always excellent. There was only once that it wasnt quite as good, but one less than good night out of years is more than acceptable. I highly recommend this place. We usually get the spring rolls, chicken satay, green curry chicken and prawn pad thai.
Loved the food. The service was 10/10.
Beautiful restaurant and the food here was amazing too. 5/5 stars all across the board.
Excellent service! The price is a great deal for 2 adults, especially the Combo For Two. They are also family friendly and kids friendly! The last one thing I have to mention again is their service! I left my should bag there and they kept it for me. When I contact them, I got my should bag back. Everything remains inside! It is a good place to yum yum your hungry tummy! A good place to relax and be safe!
I didnt stay to eat, the place was busy and there was just one server waiting on the clients. I had to be elsewhere on a schedule and figured i would be late if I took the chance to eat there.
Visited the restaurant twice, the first time it was pretty nice. The food is ok, the service guy was helpful and nice. But the second time made me write this review. We decided to go to this place again on September 15th at 5 pm. This time there was another service guy who instantly gave us a hostile attitude. When we sat down I felt like we werent welcome here and when making an order I couldnt even ask the servant a question because he rushed me and gave short answers like if I was bothering him. (the place was literally empty) I couldnt force myself to stay in there while getting this attitude from the servant, and coming from the fact that I havent even done or said anything to offend him I think it was either just a bad day for him or he is racist towards white people. This food is only worth it if its being served in the restaurant (its just average not great not bad). But if youre ordering online, there are cheaper and better alternatives.
Tried the #40 phat see-iw. Noodles were nicely flavored but the beef flavor seems only skin deep. Almost tasted like boiled on the inside and a bit stiff. Could be the cooking style for this dish? Also had the #49 pine apple fried rice. Tastes pretty good. In all kids love these dishes. If I can give 3.5 Id feel its more justified.
The hero wearing glasses is one of the fiercest ones. What a crappy thing.
I ordered by Uber Eats. It took 1 hour to prepare my order and never-ended wrapping up the foods. I was waiting for 1h 30mins then canceled my orders. a delivery person was waiting for 30 mints outside. Terrible.
Ordered takeout from them a few times. A bit on the pricy side but the food is consistently good. And they actually understand what Xtra hot means!
Happy hour (9 pm - close) is totally worth the value! My husband and I are big eaters (I guarantee we eat more than the average 30-something year olds) and we found their portions bigger than we expected for $6-10 per dish. We highly recommend their tom yum soup. After finishing one bowl of it and the other three happy hour dishes, we ordered a second bowl. The waiter was very friendly.
The food is so delicious. Service are great. Parking: Park at back of the restaurant free or park on street, right at the front. Food : 5/5 |
I ordered the satay chicken, spring rolls and tom yum soup for delivery. Cost me about around $40, and it was probably the worst meal Ive had this year.
Extremely good Thai food, haven t been there for a long time but planning to visit again after COVID.
They forgot the chicken in a chicken fried rice dish.
I have a moral objection to posting a different price in your menu than you charge the customer. When I raised the issue the server said he would let them know but it had been out of date for awhile. Food seemed to have gone downhill too, peas were overcooked and shrimp undercooked. I didnt finish my dinner for the first time ever when eating Thai food.
Staff is not very helpful but i liked the pad thai and i ordered two more items which were okay
Ordered phat thai. Nothing special to say the least. Over sauced and just tasted like sweet chilli sauce with noddles and peanuts... maybe their curries are better.
For first time i did an order to pick up and spending more that $50 I asked to add hot sauce and soy sauce at the side and they wanted to charge me $0.50 x each sauces that I wanted in all restaurants always they give it x free. Thats the rason why this restaurants lose clients
I bought to tomyum & pad Thai. The tom yum soup is ok but the Pad Thai is so bad. It s soggy and over-sauced noodle. Not gonna come back again
this place is DELICIOUS! their tom yum soup is my favorite dish as it has the perfect consistency, portion and all around amazing flavour. i miss coming here because of covid but i cant wait until things open again because i will be the first one for their stellar lunch deal. you cant beat the price for the food you get, its honestly criminal. i also really like their curry rice dishes, the Khao Phat Phong Ka-ri is *chefs kiss*. courteous, efficient service as well
Had a delivery for curry and pineapple rice. It was yummy. They have a large selection of Thai food. I ll try something else next time. Curry seems pricey considering the portion.
Soup was pretty good but other than that it was some of the worst food I have ever eaten (Thai or otherwise). Had spring rolls and chicken wings and the oil they were cooked in had to be old and used for a variety of different dishes. Anyone who cooks with oil will know what I am talking about. Could only eat a few bites and the aftertaste lingered coating my mouth making me feel nauseous. The dishes were inedible and I ended up throwing them out. Had a stir fry vegetable chicken dish which I am certain was steamed vegetables tossed together with pre-cooked chicken coated with a sauce nothing had hit a fry pan. Had Pad Thai which was edible but the noodles were so overcooked I could not eat the noodles with chopsticks or a fork as they were goo and fell apart. I literally live a 2 minute walk from this restaurant and I will never go back.
Ordered on doordash. I got larb, tom yum ka and curry, and paid 3.5 extra for extra veg. My payment got refunded by doordash and then recharged with an extra dollar by the restaurant lol (a bit weird but didn t bother me too much). The potatoes in my curry tasted stale (like an old hash brown). Larb tasted okay but had way too many shallots and onions 1/3 of the salad was onion. My soup was like like all my other items okay, but kinda missing something (flavourless). Plus side is i ordered 2 sides of rice but its for 4-5ppl (however more regular rice can barely taste the coconut). Wouldn t order again
Food is ok ok but restaurant owner doesnt deserve to be in hospitality business. Young guy doesnt know how to talk with people
They should not be open restaurant if they dont want to talk to coustmer.food is totally not Thai food.
Terrable food . Pickup order was late by 70min and they dont refund once you paid . So I have to wait until food ready. So disappointed service
This was terrible Thai food. I ordered Phat Thai and Gaaeng Dang - both so poor in flavour and seasoning that I could only eat a few bites. A waste of $40 that went into the garbage. I love Thai food; I have enjoyed it often. I know what it should taste like. I can handle average food but this was seriously terrible. I hate to say I will not return.
Amazing experience great food!!
Pick up order was late by 40 mins and counting, so I had it canceled
Worst Thai food ever! Doesn t even taste like Thai food.
I dont normally leave reviews but this is hands down the worst Thai food Ive ever had and Ive eaten from here two times many months apart. Theres no flavor and its like they took a presidents choice jar of curry and added extra chilis to make it more spicy. I probably wouldnt have left a review if it wasnt wildly over priced for not just what it was but also the portion size. This might have passed as Thai food to someone who has never had it and has no idea what its suppose to be.
Poor quality food
That veggie phat Kee meow was incredible and made me feel happy and content. Also the Tom Kah prawn soup is fantastic. This is one of my favorite restaurants -- I drive in from Chilliwack.
Excellent food! Some of the best Thai food that I have ever had. Worth the price. Loaded with fresh veggies. Yummmm!
Food is great. Prices are good. Friendly service. Definitely will be back!
I ordered pad Thai. The noodles were overcooked, the chicken was rubbery, there were no veggies in the dish and it lacked Thai flavour. I could have added sauce to boiled noodles, at home, and not paid for this dish. Very disappointed. :(
Hi guys i am Thai and i was ordered foods from this place i am not recommend to go This place because food tase like fake Thai food . I never have it before for yum woon sean have mints and no tested at all.
Terrible Teste of Pad kee moa , noodle is really over cook and Teste not Thai food at all.
Spicy pad thai was great, so much peanuts yay!
Outstanding..... Go for lunch and dinner.... This place is so fantastic, you should go when theyre closed...
Love the food, curry and stir fry on point!
Food and service are really good!
It was horrible, I would give 0 stars if it was possible... The food isn t good at all, the tiger pawns were horrible and the chicken, too. Please do not go to this restaurant!!!
Lunch menu is good. Great service!
Great Thai food with excellent portions. The menu had plenty of spicy and non-spicy options to choose from, and the service was quick. Good location too--within walking distance from Metrotown. Would recommend!
Had lunch there with my husband once. Food was just so below average for the price they charged. Parking wasn t the greatest because the restaurant is located on a high traffic street - Kingsway. We haven t been back ever since.
Been here multiple times. One of the best Thai restaurant in the area.
Best Thai food around metro town area. The owner is really nice and accommodating. They recently raised their prices, but that is fine by me as I like their food so much.
Very good place for Thai food
Pretty good
Reasonable price for potion size. Excellent service.
Great taste and good prices
Tried a tiger prawn curry. The curry was smooth with the right consistency. It had the right amount of prawn and vegetables. They serve you soup and veg spring roll along with entree. You can definitely visit the place for decent food.
the best tom yum in town !!!!!!
Tasty food. Also the portions are very big
Server was very friendly, but the food isnt authentic Thai food and was sub-par compared to a lot of Thai restaurants I have been to.
Giving 3 stars only because of the poor service that we got. The restaurant was quite empty on a Saturday late afternoon, but the server made no effort at all. I had to get up myself and grab a menu...then go order drinks to start. After all, he was really surprised that we left no tips, which is also not a good quality for a server - ask for tips. The food (we ordered pad thai) was good, but nothing extraordinary. Wont go back as there are better places with better staff
First time eating at the restaurant, great food and the server was friendly and professional. Had an awesome time and definitely will be returning back to have more delicious food.
Great food, great service
This is my favourite restaurant. Excellent food and amazing service. They are so fast in the kitchen and the staff always remember our favourite dishes. I have lunch here with my coworkers at least once a week. Two years later...Im still impressed with their consistently excellent service and delicious food.
Yellow Curry and Pad Thai are definitely the best dishes. I would recommend sticking to these items. The shrimp is a bit lackluster, I would recommend substituting it for some other meat.
So we went here very hungry and I was craving for Panang curry did not disappoint me so delicious food and great service
The food tasted great
How can phat thai taste not good at thai resto? ,which is very basic and popular cuisine .... I hope it has more sprouts and veggies and will be put in a clean plastic container.
Great food.
Very delicious, would recommend.
This place is more like a 3.5 The pad see ew from here was great, and all of the flavours were mixed in evenly. The veggies seemed fresh. Their tom yum soup was just burning hot oil though... I might be up for trying them again but not anytime soon...
So when my total for one yellow curry came to around $18.00, I expected it to be pretty big in size. I mean, $18.00 is still a lot for one curry dish. But, when I unpacked the food, I was a bit disappointed to find that it was quite small. The taste is not that bad. Just not good for that amount. I don t know if I d considering coming back here.
I ordered Pad thai from this place by Doordash. My fiancé and I ordered same one each. First impression was Wow it is Huge.. we could just order one and share. Somehow we were kind of disappointed. We barely had chicken and vegetables. It was just a lot of Noodles... It tasted okay, was average. I wish we had more protein and Vegetables...
Back for the second time this week! Tasty, affordable Thai food, love that you can customize the protein option on many dishes. Order by phone was a breeze, my food was ready on time and still hot after the 10min drive home. I tried the appetizers sampler, phat thai, and both the red and yellow curries. All very tasty, the basil flavor really came through in the red curry. The only reason I am not giving 5/5 is because the take out containers are not biodegradable. Polystyrene is not cool, I hope the restaurant will switch up to a greener alternative.
Green Basil is one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Burnaby. The food is delicious and the staff always make us feel welcome. We miss being able to dine in, but still appreciate that we can pick up and enjoy the food at home. So good!
Edit: prices have gone up $2-3 per dish, so in fact its getting expensive now for what you get. Too bad. Simple Thai cusine that wont break the bank. Not a fancy place but just a good sit down eatery. Try the Thai iced tea!
This was terrible food. Tofu was dry, chicken skewers had a strange texture and the noodles were plain. Even the rice was bad. Nothing about the food tasted like Thai - I regret ordering after reading other reviews that state this place is not run by Thai people.
Great location, right in Metrotown. Service was prompt (pickup), good selection on menu but the food was meh- not bad but nothing to write home about.
Service was great and lunch deal is a good deal. Had the shrimp and scallop pad Thai. The noodle portion was good but the shrimp and scallop was not fresh. I didnt complain because I was with people that I had just met. The unfreshness of the seafood is the the point that I hope I dont get a stomachache.
I largely suspect that this is a Thai restaurant run by Chinese people so it doesnt not feel like authentic Thai food. Food was large portions (as Chinese food is, but not Thai food) and taste of the Pad Thai was just OK. I wouldnt recommend this if you are a big Thai food fan, but if you dont know the difference its fine.
All of the dishes are excellent... But definitely try the spicy green beans.
Perhaps one of the best thai restaurants in greater Vancouver. We have been there many times and was never disappointed. The foods are very delicious and the price are also very reasonable compared to other thai restaurants. The service is impeccable. The only drawback is the lack of parking as it is located on kingsway corridor and the street pay parking is also most of the time occupied.
Green Basil offers the food, decor, and atmosphere that gives Thai culture the respect it deserves. There are some truly unique dishes in the menu, with a huge variety. I would recommend number 49. They use a empty pineapple to serve your serve your fried rice, wish looks very appetizing! The great food was complemented with wonderful service. It s pretty busy on the week ends and the place its self isn t very big. If you want some authentic Thai food, this is the place.
The place is simple but elegant, service was attentive but not pushy. Portions are really big, you can easily order a few things to share if youre a group. The green curry is really good! Their lunch specials are awesome too, if you work close by definitely give it a try!
I was here on Nov 9th with M and we had a great time having Thai dinner. We had #47 Thuua Phat Phrik King (green beans $16.50) and #25 Gaeng Kari (yellow curry $17.50) they were so delicious. Our food came piping hot and fresh it was so yummy. Green beans were spicy and flavorful just the way we liked. I didnt know the rice had to be ordered extra. We had to order rice for our food afterwards. Curry and rice itself had a huge portion. Id say it was suitable for 2 servings and leftover was packed for my lunch the next day. Even though this place seemed Chinese owned the food was great. It was better than we expected. Mango Colada ($5.25) was great as well. Fast and attentive service. I really liked how spiciness was controlled depending on our preference and it was mild enough for my liking.
Too expensive for what you get served. At least thats the case for to go orders.
Slow and wrong order. More like Chinese taste than Thai
A fair amount of vegan options, large portions, delicious food, and very friendly service! Edit: just ordered takeout, got back home, and found out that the veggie dish I had ordered with tofu, no egg, and no fish has both chicken and egg in it. Super disappointed.
