Vietnamese restaurant in Burnaby
Everytime I drive by this restaurant, I always see it busy. Finally my friend told me to meet him here to for lunch since he lives near by. The portions here are very good for what you pay. My meal was $19.99 , but I could only eat half, yet I have enough left for dinner. There's free parking underground and across the street where Save On Foods / Winners is. Atmosphere was lively, decor was nice and modern with high ceilings. I would definitely recommend it here.
The food was pretty good and the servers were so polite. But the ventilation is terrible in the salon. We smelled like oil/food when we left and had to go back home to get changed. I hope they fix this problem, and I would go back for the food.
We've been here several times for the vermicelli bowls (bún thịt nướng) and phở. Both are flavourful and we love the portion sizes. Spring rolls are always hot and crispy, worth it with the bún. Could do with a few more pieces of tendon in the rare beef, tendon and tripe phở but there is more beef to make up for it. They're pretty busy on the weekends for lunch, often there's a short line-up outside. Staff are quick to find us a spot but there can be a 15-20 min. wait.
This is probably the biggest portion of food I have gotten in a very long time. Definitely worth coming here. But most importantly the food tastes amazing! Also underground parking is free for 3 hours, it's also right beside the restaurant. It's very convenient! I'll be coming back soon!
Compared to the average Vietnamese restaurant, the Viet Noodle Guy feel more contemporary. This place is good for a quick lunch, as the service is efficient. Pho is flavourful; no complaints. Perhaps it's the region, but pricing is a tad on the high side ($18 for regular size).
Got the special vermicelli (B1) here and the portion size is huge, I was only able to finish half of it despite being quite hungry. For $20 I believe the price is right. I also ordered the iced coffee (D2) they have as I was hoping it'd wake me up like other Vietnamese coffees have in the past but it just tasted like a normal iced coffee, didn't do much in helping me wake up. The service was okay, nothing to write home about. Nice location!
The food was pretty good. I really liked the spring rolls but the noodles felt a bit bland in the vermicelli bowl. The pho and soup tastes great but unfortunately both times I’ve been here I asked for no cilantro but still found cilantro in my bowl. I’m not allergic but cilantro is very over powering for me so I couldn’t really eat anything without tasting cilantro in the pho.
Their dry noodles here are great and all the meat that comes with it is delicious, I would come back here just for that dish and the amount of food is gigantic, shareable between two people. Their soup noodles are okay, but I did not find it particularly amazing in comparison to any other pho place that I have been to and in their quest to be unique, it fell short because I most definitely did not like the texture of the noodles that they use in the pho. Service was okay, the atmosphere was not bad. I would come back for the dry noodles and the banh mi.
Ordered from here today through Uber eats, and the food was amazing! That was the biggest portion of pho (size large) Ive ever received! I ordered the seafood pho and the jumbo spring roll and they were both fantastic. I just wish the Pho had some kind of steamed veg in it, it was the first time I have ever ordered a pho that was just straight noodles and seafood with the usual add ins. Still 10/10 will definitely be ordering again!
Actually, I went here so many time, food are good. But it s worse today. We line up outside as the restaurant rules, but don t know why somebody like break the rules line up inside. After we go inside and staff made sure bar is available for us, we already settled down. At this moment, the three guy line up inside just want to get our seat. The staff in restaurant asked us leave our seat????????? Unbelievable!!!! We just settled down. Won t come again.
The best spring rolls!
This is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the Lower Mainland. Flavourful, fresh, hot and reasonably priced. Everything I have ordered from this place has been superb. I often go out of my way to eat here. Two thumbs up!
My go-to place for Vietnamese food. Order either B1 or SD2. Huge portions. Worth it. I should start bringing my own tupper ware or container for leftovers. I used to eat everything in one sitting, but now I eat half and save the rest for lunch the next day.
Great flavours and huge portions! Don t ever change!
I do take out sometimes from here . Food is not bad service is not too great but Today I found a hair D: ...... Food
Some of the best Pho Ive ever had.
Our server, Minh, was very friendly and helpful. Pho was top tier as well but the service made the experience!
If you need authentic Viet food in a cute, cozy atmosphere, you gotta go here! Come with an empty stomach because the portion sizes are huuge :) Minh, our server, was amazing - definitely made our day :)
This pho restaurant is goated. Amazing staff, huge portions, and amazing food options. The only downside is that this place gets super busy at peak hours. I highly recommend this Vietnamese restaurant. As mentioned they have pretty huge portions for a decent price compared to other places.
The food is amazing and the portions large. Everything tastes fresh and great flavour. My husband is here at least 4x a week!!
This the best Vietnamese restaurant Ive ever been to. It was really nicely decorated inside, it was clean, and the service was fast. As for the food, the pho was amazing, very good quality, and fresh. The spring rolls were delicious too. Not to mention well priced. 10/10 recommend!
Can t beat the verm bowl
A good value restaurant! Banh mi is really delicious! It s even better if you add mayo sauce! The rice noodles are really good too. You can t eat cilantro. Be sure to ask for it separately in advance...
Very good first time lunch experience. I can see why this place is always busy and you often have to wait for a table. Delicious food, fresh ingredients, I would come back again for sure.
The portions are insane; you really get your money s worth. But I d rather pay $20 for a really good bowl of Pho instead of a massive bowl of flavourless water and chicken. Probably one of the most disappointing meals I ve had in a while, and after one bite I immediately regretted not getting the Vermicelli instead. I d go back to try those, but not for the Pho.
Don t get the pho, Worst I ever had!! And I eat lots. Tastes water down, no flavour I will never come here again !! Food
Nice staff and good portion size; food is good
Quality is good. I got beef , rice, and salad next to it . The beef gravy was salty . Comping before I was not happy.
Edit: Changing review from 5 to 3 . I keep finding plastic in my takeout. One time it was a clear plastic wrapper chopped in with the salad and another time it was the red netting plastic used for onion bags. A true gem of Brentwood. Generous portions when ordering vermicelli and the spring rolls have got a crispy + chewiness that I find really addicting. You can never go wrong with their chicken wings as appetizier as the lemon pepper sauce is amazing and the wings have a nice fry coat. Service is always quick and the location is clean. My only gripe is the hours of operation. Closing 8PM on weekdays and not open on Tuesdays is a real shame. I feel like the rising density in the area should be able to financially support later hours.
The pho noodle broth was not flavourful and the noodles were hard. But the service was great and the atmosphere was good. I felt the TikTok reviews were deceiving
A waiter, very bad service attitude, impolite
Overall pretty good, highly recommended popcorn shrimp 10/10, this is not cheap walmart frozen shrimp, you can taste the freshness from it. pho soup is bit over sweetened but the quantity and quality is still pretty good. Service is adequate could be better. Tea is bit bad, cant really taste the jasmine out of it. But definitely will visit back if hungry again. Kid-friendliness: Kids love it
If you can find a better place to serve One $20 bowl with huge amount of well marinated different types of meat including chicken, pork and perfectly cooked hand made spring roll with vermicelli and veggies, let me know. This is the best Vietnamese place in the area. The price has been gone up, but under $20. I am good with quality they keep. Services? I am not sure, but this is a noodle place. They do serve what you need, but they wont check on each of your dish. You can ask for a tea, hot water, anything in 2 secs walking distance, The quality of foods here have been same for last few years. I know the prices have been going up. But, I am happy this place is still keeping the original taste and similar quantity. For Pho- Order Large no matter what. Its a $1 difference with a lot more noodle and soup.
Its a pricey pho, but its the best damn pho Ive ever had. How a super clear broth can pack so much flavor is nothing short of magic.
We ordered P14 and very delicious .
my friend went here to eat and told them that he had a peanut allergy, but when he got his food there was traces of peanut and he is deathly allergic. we had to rush to the hospital and thankfully he survived. id be careful and double check if anyone decides to eat here with a allergy. In the end they only offered the meal to be free and no help at all.
A friend ate here today and told the staff that he could not eat peanuts as hes deathly allergic. He even asked them to make sure not to cross contaminate, and even asked again to make sure. Part way through eating, he discovered peanut in the food and started to feel anaphylaxis and told the staff he had to leave right away. No offer for any support for his life except telling him the meal was on the house... He rushed home to get his EpiPen as he unfortunately didnt have it with him. He lives 5m away in Brentwood. Luckily he made it and administered it, then rushed to the hospital. The sad part is that this was his favorite restaurant, and went here every week, alone even like today. Its a huge shame that the staff were careless today and put him in danger like that. Viet Noodle Guy, please train your staff on food safety.
The best vietnamese I ever had .. I had the special VERMICELLI it s huge so much food amazing flavour chicken the spring rolls everything was so good .. best in Vancouver 6 stars Food
Came here around 4:45pm, my boyfriend and I ordered two things. We waited from 4 45 to 5 30, to see one dish come out. We asked the lady and she just ignored it. We also asked for water 3 times in the span of 45 minutes and didn t get it till the very end. People that came in 15-20 minutes after us got their food 15 minutes prior to us. The food was pretty good, only reason why it is a 3 star.
Great food, awful service. Had a live fly swimming in my drink. The server did not even apologize nor change the water right away. I would have let this slide if the server had apologized to me about this but he didnt seem to care so I will post about it here.
My friend recently went here and asked for no peanuts but they gave him peanuts. He had to go to the ER and luckily had his Epipen. Don t eat here or at hotpot.
My friend came in and told them he was deathly allergic to peanuts. He even double checked with them when the food came out. While eating, he noticed there were peanuts at the bottom of his vermicelli bowl and went into anaphylactic shock soon after. They didn t even call him an ambulance and only offered the meal on the house. Disappointed as our group of friends loved coming here but this is unacceptable
Its good! It used to be just $13 for a large pho about a year ago but prices have gone up significantly. Portions are still huge and probably enough for 2. People or one big person!
Very good and authenthic Vietnamese cuisine.
Delicious spring rolls, summer rolls, and pho! The restaurant was clean and air conditioned, and food was served hot. The photos say it all!
Good place for decent Viet Food in Brentwood Area
My go to pho place in Burnaby.
Delicious food and generous portions. Wished they opened a little later (they close at 8pm) because I get late night pho cravings!
Three of us went. We were all very happy with the food, service and dining room. I had the special vermicelli with lemongrass chicken. It had a huge spring roll on top, cut up. It was super hot (temperature) and the dish was my new favorite. Lots of veggies on the bowl. They were larger than normal portions. I left stuffed.
Food always tastes good, but the service was extremely poor today. We stood at the front door for more than 5 minutes, waiting for someone to serve us. Unfortunately, both servers were just standing at the front counter and ignoring us. After waiting for so long, I had to approach them and ask if we could be seated. The guy said they were extremely busy at the moment and that we would need to wait. HOWEVER, THERE WERE 6 EMPTY SEATS AT THE BAR!! I asked about the bar seats, and he said we could sit there, but we couldn t switch to a table later on. We dont mind sitting at the bar at all but why you didnt bother to ask? FINALLY, we were able to sit down!!! I feel pretty upset. Ive been here many times, and this is the first time Ive been treated so rudely.
Lovely large selection of items in the menu. The portions are huge and you really get bang for your buck.
Its a shame cause the food is delicious but the counter server clearly had an issue with my no tips selection on my takeout order.
Yummm it s totally the best Viet restaurant
Been a while since i came to brentwood and Viet guy was my go to when I used to live in the area. Food is always amazing and very consistent. My friend had a great time and said food was delicious.
Food was delicious and the service and delivery of the food was quick and efficient. The lemon grass chicken Banh MI is a winner!!
Truly delicious
The chicken is very dry,it is unforgivable to cook the chicken thigh so dry.
One of the best Banh Mi sandwiches I ve ever had. Great bread, great fillings, top notch service. 10/10
Got the special vermicelli and two orders of their spring rolls. Been going here for a long time. Best viet restaurants in metro Vancouver
Very busy restaurant in the Brentwood area. Portions for the noodle soups seem small, but the dry noodle bowls are big. Different to see shredded raw cabbage in the dry bowls Service is very efficient. The hot Vietnamese coffee is a bit bitter but maybe it s the type of coffee bean used?
Ordered the Special Vermicelli to go. The box felt heavy and was packed with stuff. Spring rolls were crispy and meats juicy. I would order this again.
Been one of my go to pho places since this has opened up. Amazing portions and great flavour of pho :)
I got the special noodle number 3 with noodle and the soup lacks flavour and can be overwhelmed with the greens( green onions and cilantro). Their soup texture is more soupy than stewy? Stewed? Then I have hoped. Also got the chicken wings and instead of it being covered in sauce, we had to dip it on the side, which was minorly inconvenient. The taste of the sauce was alright. Service is okay, but would like to be checked up on to refill water/tea. Atmosphere at 7pm in June is busy but sunny. If you have a party your whole party needs to be there to be seated or youll lose your spot until your party arrives. Parking: Free 3hr parking beside it, paid on the side
Had lunch at The Viet Noodle Guy and it was a terrible experience. I clearly told them my order 3 times, both in line and at the desk. They mixed up my order with another customers and gave me the wrong food. When I pointed this out, the staff didnt apologize and rudely insisted it was my mistake. I left immediately and will never be back.
Had a horrible experience at The Viet Noodle Guy. When I told them the noodles had bugs and werent cleaned well, they ignored me and refused to give a new dish. To make things worse, the staff was extremely rude and ignored me when I mentioned my pregnant wife needed to sit down while we were lining up. I will never be back due to their poor hygiene and rude behavior.
We ordered salad rolls, grilled pork vermicelli, and beef pho. Foods were so so. The salad rolls had very dried and hard to chew vermicelli. Sauce was good but lacked flavor. Grilled pork vermicelli was pretty good. Pork was well seasoned and had lots of flavors. However, the vermicelli was too dry. Pho broth was too sweet for our liking. The service was great. Our server was fast and prepared enough utensils for everyone at my table, including a small scissors for the kiddo. Food came out fast. Location is also convenient. I hope their food will get better. I will come back again and try other dishes.
The counter server has an attitude. You have no business being in the service industry if you can t try to be nice to clients. I get it, you could be having a bad day but at least try to be hospitable and welcoming. As someone who likes Vietnamese food I will nonetheless say that the food is nice
The only bad thing is that there is a very long wait line.
Soo tasty!! Great portions and best crunchy spring roll I ve ever had. Next time will have to try the subs they look amazing.
decent selection of vegetarian options for a vietnamese restaurant. would love to see a veggie pho with a vegetarian broth instead of the beef broth. more of a cafeteria style, as table service is limited and not attentive.
I looked up a few places to eat while I was in Burnaby with my wife. This place was close to Costco which is where we were headed. First off the staff was warm and friendly and very tentative. The service was great, food came out on time and hot. The FOOD was soooo delicious! I love a place that has good food, good portions & good prices. This place has all that! It is now my favorite joint everytime im in town to do a Costco shop! Highly recommend
This place used to be great, but its quality has declined recently. Over the years, Ive tried quite a few dishes here (shrimp, pork, chicken, etc.), along with their appetizers. Always solid. I returned a month ago and was unpleasantly surprised at the low quality of their meat, which is chewy and tough (at least in the dish I got). In addition, the vegetables were hard and way too crunchy as well. Too bad because I used to like this place.
Ive eaten at many pho places and by far this is the absolute best Ive ever had
This place went downhill big time. The broth is inconsistent and tastes either like msg or strange fishy flavour. Skimped out on the meat in the sub, $9 pretty sad stuff. Price is way too high for pho and quality is way below average. Customer service is poor as well. Store closes early at 8. There is nothing good to talk about here besides the interior being clean.
Everyone has their own favourite spot for pho. In the past, this usually meant some hole-in-the-wall noodle joint that s seen better days. The Viet Noodle Guy kicks that trend and seems to be doing quite well at it. The interior of this Vietnamese restaurant is very bright and airy owing to the large windows that fronts onto Rosser Avenue and the high ceilings. My first encounter with this restaurant was actually for take-out as we noticed the restaurant while we were dining across the street. Intrigued, we decided to get some Chicken Wings ($6.50) with a lemon pepper sauce to-go. The chicken wings were okay but nothing very memorable besides the coating being a bit too thick for my liking. I came back in early December to try their pho and stuck with a classic the Pho Dac Biet or Viet Noodle Special ($10.45 for a small bowl). There was nothing small about this bowl, however, as it had plenty of meat and noodles. Specifically, thin slices of rare beef (perfect for dunking into the piping hot broth), beef brisket, beef balls, tripe, tender chunks of tendon, onions, green onions, cilantro, and the requisite basil, bean sprouts, lime, and jalepeño slices. The bowl also contained an ample amount of thin, flat, rice noodles which was filling for a small bowl. A week later, my sweetie and I returned during the weekend for lunch and were lucky to grab a table given how busy they get. The Bun Dac Biet or Special Vermicelli Bowl ($12.95) is a pork lover s dream with lemongrass, grilled pork, pork patty, and shredded pork combined with the crispy spring roll. I picked the Com Bo Luc Lac or Shaken Beef Cubes with Rice ($14.95). Served with a fried egg, this is a complete meal which will really satisfy your hunger. Unlike the famous Beef Luc Lac at Phnom Penh, the shaken beef here is served in cubes but is just a tender. While they have a separate area upstairs dedicated to banh mi (Vietnamese subs), you can order them in the restaurant. We picked the Banh Mi Dac Biet ($6.25). They do make a very good version here with a nice crusty bun. This one comes with ham, pork roll, fried pork roll, Vietnamese ham, pate and accompanied with the requisite pickled veggies, cilantro, hot peppers, cucumber, soy sauce, and mayo. On a return visit, I decided to try their Bun Bo Hue ($11.55 for large) which comes with thick, round, slippery rice noodles, beef slices, chicken balls, ham, onions, and green onions in a piping hot broth that has a nice spice level. Located diagonally across from a large cherry blossom garden, I m sure this would make a great spot for cherry blossom viewing during the spring. It gets super busy here during the lunch hour but food comes out pretty quick. Update: Mar 2024... Been about 4 years since we were last here. I had forgotten how large their dishes are. Ordered the bun dac biet - special vermicelli with lemongrass chicken, grilled pork, pork patty, spring roll, and shredded pork and picked daikon. Loved the crispy spring roll in this dish. The pho dac biet pho with rare beef, beef brisket, tripe, cilantro and green onions is so comforting! Nice broth that you just want to slurp up all day long. Akso got an order of canh ga (chicken wings) with lemon pepper sauce. The dipping sauce really does the trick.
Good portion of foods, Vermicelli and bang mi are good. Noodle soup is ok. Need better HVAC system, always make my coat smell for the rest of the day Food : 4/5
Great Ban Mi
Food tasted really good, worth the price. House special broth was rich, not too oily or salty. Lemongrass chicken salad roll is the MVP, spring roll was crispy. Service was okay, but restaurant was new and clean.
Phos spring rolls are of average quality and crispy. Special mention. Their chili peppers are quite spicy. Qianqi, a friend who loves spicy food, is not to be missed.
Give yourself enough time. Usually, there is a lineup on the weekdays. Food is pretty good, prices are what you expect. Portions are good size. Its definitely not the biggest but not the smallest size. They hand banh mi upstairs, which is on par, in my opinion, with Bale
Theres this one particular lady here that thinks every customer is is a low life or something. I noticed whenever she is on shift, there is always some hair in my food. One time I found a nose hair in my food and she didnt even bother...
This is a great restaurant for authentic Vietnamese food. I love the vermicelli bowls. They have amazing pho. can t get quite busy, but everybody s pretty respectful of coming and eating and not overstaying their welcome. Service is always great. Dietary restrictions: Veggie options available Kid-friendliness: Family friendly
The friendly and efficient service did not make up for the lackluster broth and prices. I m guessing since they re the only pho place in the area, there s a line up out the door on a cloudy weekday afternoon? Kid-friendliness: High chairs and change table available
The food was fantastic here as the ingredients taste fresh and the dish presentation is great. Friendly staff and clean dining atmosphere, we will definitely visit again :)
The atmosphere is a bit noisy, but you can eat pho at a reasonable price. Parking: There is an entrance to the parking lot next to the store. Parking lot is easy to find and available for free.
Its a great spot! The broth is good and the noodle bowls and rice bowl portions are huge!
The food was amazing. This is my go to place for pho.
Great Vietnamese food with authentic taste
Really tasty spot for pho and Vietnamese food in Burnaby! I enjoyed the bun bo hue, pho, and the rice dishes. The spring rolls were also very tasty with a good crunch. Easy to share.
Dont come here! Heres why- The food is good youre going to want to come here all the time and ruin your diet! I had the rare beef, brisket and tendon pho. The broth is tasty on its own theres no need for the sauces! Would definitely be back again and try different dishes.
I came into to town hungry and I can only speak to the large bowl of pho that I ordered, but it certainly did the trick. It was very tasty, and they accommodated my desire to make it extra hot with extra chili oil and jalapenos.
Too pricey and left hungry
I gave this place a 5 star review before covid. Going back now and the prices are disproportionately increased 20-30% more than other Vietnamese restaurants with similar quality and decor. Not comparing them to hole-in-the-wall places. It seems to be a trend in the Brentwood area, that restaurants are too expensive for what they offer.
Good standard food options, good taste. No complaints.
Huge portion of pho with low price. You can t find another pho place like this one!
Tasty, but the tasty is not what I am expected. The portion is big. I like the pork chop rice better than its pho. Only advantage is free covered parking.
Really tried hard to like this place since its close by. Several visits as well as several deliveries later, I give it 1 star. In resto dining: long waits with no explanation or apologies as the delivery order pile grows and grows, standard vietnamese food flavors with ridiculous high prices that dont reflect quality and care of food served. Inconsistent portioning of food ie: when its very busy, the contents of the sandwiches seem lighter than usual. Noticeable residual flavor on noodles as though the blanching water is not changed often enough giving noodles a distinct ricey flavour and slightly slimy residue causing starch bubbles in the soup. Poor training in customer service and attitude. It can all be SO good if a little more care is taken in execution. Pick up and delivery: Poorly packaged sauces that were spilled in bag on several occasions. Cold food/drink sitting on hot items (most places pack drinks in a second bag to avoid this). Smaller portion of sauces. Mods not done correctly ie: asked to please exclude meat in salad roll and just make with prawn (had to throw it out as no one could eat it), incorrect order given to delivery driver so we received the wrong items. Asked to exclude an allergy item and even called ahead to ask about the possibility of cross contamination (we were happily prepared to order elsewhere for the one person if there was a possibility our request was too much) but allergic person had a negative reaction even though we were assured of the strictest food handling (thankfully the allergy wasnt anaphylactic). You know, the flavours are all right, but after all these easily avoidable challenges, Im now too nervous to order because it calls into question whether or not all the food is handled in a safe way in general.
The best Vietnamese food in Burnaby! Used to go here twice a month but now only once every 2 months .too expensive
Crispy and juicy wings with delicious not-your-typical specially fried spring rolls. Everything else is good!
Food was good, but it is more expensive than most of the pho/Vietnamese restaurant. The restaurant is clean , except some seat r more tight than others.
Best in North Burnaby! Can t find much comparable in the neighborhood. Beware of pick up on large orders. Often forgetting a dish but if you contact the restaurant, they re good with credit for next order! Food
This place was packed, luckily we got there before a rush and didnt have to wait. Food came out quickly after ordering. You either have to ask for a menu or pull up menu via QR code on your phone. My parents were sitting around for a few minutes before I came in to show them how to get the menu. Wasnt impressed that they were seated but no one came over to ask if they needed a menu. Once you do pick your items, you have to wave to one of the servers to get their attention to order. We ordered bun and pho. Mom said bun was really good. We liked the crispy eggroll and she said the Cabbage is different, maybe pickled. Pho broth is on the sweet side for me. They give lots of meat, dad got the large special and I was actually surprised how much meat he had. Even baby loved the noodles. Which are a bit thicker than regular pho noodles. We also had Che, its a little too sweet for me too.
My favourite vietnamese spot, love the lemongrass chicken vermicelli and banh mi
A must try in the Brentwood area if you re a fan of Vietnamese cuisine! There is usually a small queue but it s worth the wait. Great quality food and very generous portions! I would suggest the vermicelli bowls if you re looking for huge portions and deliciousness!
Came here for dinner an hour before closing time and had to wait outside as the place was packed. The dishes have huge portions which each can easily feed around 2-3 people. Overall good food and decent portions for the price. The place is a bit small and most tables are for 2 people so if you re a group of 3 and more it may take a while to get a table or you may be seated on the side of the table as well. A lot of sunlight comes inside the place so depending on where you are sitting expect it to hit your face from time to time while you re eating.
One server is responsible for all holes Of course, the quality of service is poor. They dont fill me with water or give me any attention. There are a lot of deliveries, so the overall atmosphere of the store is very chaotic. I even asked for more cilantro, which didnt come out for a long time, so I got it directly from the kitchen. The rice noodles were too sweet I left a big tip for the poor server. The service was not worth even tipping $1. Wont visit again
Amazing food perfect portions and pricing. Highly recommend Food : 5/5
I dont normally write long reviews but this one definitely deserves one. Came in at around 3pm and ordered the house special (p1). Service was great, and the staff were very attentive if I was running out of tea or was ready to order. The soup was decent, but what really made this bowl so good was the amount of aromatics, beef, meat and tendons that were in the bowl. I usually find myself running out of cilantro, onions, or meat before I finish the noodles, but this was not the case! Overall, this was a well priced bowl of pho for the amount of soup, noodles, protein, and aromatics that you get with your order. After eating at over 20 pho places in the lower mainland, I can definitely say this is on my top 5 for sure, maybe top 3.
Horrifying servers with lousy attitude
Delicious
Well kept yet unassuming joint with an extensive menu of Vietnamese cuisine. Reasonably priced place. Plenty of vegetarian options. I tried the chicken banh mi (sub sandwich) along with the Vietnamese iced coffee. Vegetarian options: Tofu
So tasty, fast and friendly service
Vermicelli B1 here is delicious Add some sauce and eat a salad roll. Gaekkur staff are friendly and clean It s in front of my house so it s a bitch Facing the store directly, on the right There is an entrance to the parking lot and there is ample parking space.
Located in a good neighbourhood. Line ups will form up almost certainly around meal times. I tried their pho dat viet and the meat was absolutely delicious. Noodles were thicker than other phos and soup was alright. They provide more bean sprouts and sauce on demand so that was a little bit of an inconvenience. Priced a little higher than other pho places at 18 dollars pre tax and tip.
I came there based on the good reviews. But I was extremely thirsty the night after having the pho. Im not sure but there maybe MSG added.
Great food, quick service - happy we came into Brentwood. Portions are a good size, taste is great! Food : 5/5
Absolutely fantastic. Super fresh and delicious food. A must when in town!!
The spring rolls are fried to a huge size and taste great. One of the must-try items.
Delicious authentic Vietnamese - VERY good!!
Favorite Vietnamese food place. Pho, Bun, rice plates, spring rolls all very good options.
Ordered takeout. Found multiple short black hairs in the noodles. Pretty disgusting and unhygienic. A hard pass.
Food was really nice. It was regular weekday dinner, they were busy and had a line up. My friend and I were eating without talking, but we felt like the staff were pushing us away. Food : 5/5
Definitely the best Vietnamese restaurant in the immediate Brentwood area! The food and service are great. Just note that theyre quite popular and depending on the day and time you visit, you may have to wait.
Good food, nice service, prices were ok as well. The vermicelli bowls were very filling so definitely recommend those. Pho soup was also very earthy. Good spot around Brentwood!
My new favourite place for Vietnamese food! The venue is great, and staff are friendly. The spring rolls I think is there specialty! Must try!
When you charge $20 for a bowl of bun and still charge $1 for extra sauce? This place started from $13 to $20 in less than 1.5 years holy moly
It cost about 20 yuan, and the meal was a huge bowl and delicious.
If you need water or even napkin, you need to walk up to the front counter and ask for it. I visited the restaurant over 20 times because of good pho but the service is terrible. Servers never offer anything until you ask for it. I wouldnt bother tipping if I were you. I also forgot: pho is about $20 per person if you add in tax and 10% tip.
Good place to get Springroll & vermicelli
It s one of a kind restaurant! Food was delicious, service was fantastic and atmosphere was great! Food
The food here has consistently been good since day one. Pho, vermicelli noodles, salad roles, bo luc lac, bahn mi, it s all good. It does get quite busy and often there are line ups. The pho soup is a bit too fatty for my liking so I skim it out into another bowl. But a large is actually a large, and they are generous with the meat. Service is quite responsive and they are quick to accommodate any ask. Free parking can be found in the parking garage next door.
The bowls are fantastic!
*****BEWARE***** You have been warned. Food: 1/5 -Please DO NOT order their Pho. Broth was made using beef bullion type powder. Not authentic tasting and was super bland--like instant pho you can get for $0.50 at the dollar store. -Pho rice noodles had a musty odour. Unless you like stale, overcooked/mushy noodles, avoid at all costs. -As for the meat, yikes. No further comment here. -Appears their entire pho ingredient budget was utilized on veggies. At least the Thai basil and bean sprouts seemed fresh(hence the 1 rating). Service: 0/5 -Atrocious service. You will receive better service at McDonalds. -Waitresses didnt seem to want to be there, nor cared for customers at the tables. My 4 year old daughter is more attentive to her surroundings. -The female managing cash register also looked mad, like all the time. You will know who this person is upon entering restaurant. Not sure how you can encourage repeat business with that negative demeanour. Perhaps she should work in security, maybe club bouncer? Overall: Wed rather starve than come back. -Despite the poor-tasting food served during our visit, it was actually the horrendous and abysmal customer service experience that ensured we will never return to this restaurant.
They clearly had to put in some effort to mess up pho.
The pho is markedly improved from 4 years ago Vietnamese coffee is also fantastic. Banh mis are amazing. Vermicelli dishes are crack, extra sauce needed. Update : Pho is good, but just missing some key partners in crime. No siracha or chilli oil is available. Only hoisin sauce is provided by request, which comes in a small dish :T // due to the above, its unfortunately not my go to for pho, but for all other dishes, you cannot go wrong
Food is just ok. But the service is really irritating and aggressive. Seems like they are under paid or something. Will not go to second time
Run like a plague food and services
This noodle house is trending. For starters the food is top notch. We tried four of the vermicelli noodle combos and loved every detail. That said, we still had enough leftovers for two more meals - hardly a problem. Staff were more than helpful with dietary modifications. Bit of a wait for a table for four, again because this restaurant is Popular. More than worth the wait. Menu is huge, so this place is definitely a do over, and over. The combinations on offer are spectacular, and consistently perfectly prepared. This simple noodle house is a world class experience.
Bad attitude
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this Vietnamese establishment. Unfortunately, the food I ordered was far from fresh, and it had clearly gone bad. After consuming the meal, I ended up with acute gastroenteritis. This raises serious concerns about the food safety and hygiene standards at your restaurant. I strongly urge you to prioritize food safety and maintain high-quality standards to prevent similar incidents from occurring to other customers in the future.
Shocked to hear such racist statement from the waitress.
Horrible service!! One of their racist female waitress didn t take my order and called me a racial slur!! Do no go here !!!
Bad service. Borderline racist waitress
bad service
The best of thus place is the food , very tasty and really good portions
Perfect like always. I have been going to this place since the opening years ago and now that I moved out, each time I visit Vancouver, I come back just to find out that this place is same good if not even better. Thank you for your hard work, your excellence, and the great service and food!
Honestly, as a noodle lover I was pretty bummed. I went here with two friends for dinner a while back and just recently remembered how bad it was (enough for me to write this review). To put it simply, the food and the service was terrible. After waiting around an hour for our dishes (literally just 3 noodle bowls), myself and another one of my friends couldnt bring ourselves to finish our food. Neither tasted very good. When it came time to pay, a lady took my money and I never received any change back. Mind you, it shouldve been around $5 something. After realizing they werent going to give me back my change, I went up to the ladies working the front and after being ignored at first, I asked them to give me the rest of my change. They both looked confused, but slowly got the money out and put it on the table. I didnt check the amount, just thanked them, told them to have a good night and left. I thought it was over but when I got to my car and went to move the change into my jacket pocket, I realized I was still shorted on my change. I only got about $2 something. I didnt go back though because I just wanted to leave, but that part made me very upset and angry. Tipping is for a service. A good one. They did NOT provide that for my friends and I and its my choice as a customer to decide whether or not I think they are deserving of a tip. And after everything, I was pretty set on having that answer be no. But believe me or not, Ive actually never NOT tipped someone before this experience, so that should say something. So yeah. Wouldnt recommend going here myself, like at all. But yall do you.
Best vermicelli pork spring roll bowl youll ever find anywhere period. Absolute must try. I havent found any other place that can make the dish better. Restaurant is very pleasant and has good service. Generous portions and very good quality food. There are lineups for this place because of how popular it is, its definitely worth the wait because people dont line up unless the food is great!
I ate noodle Soup, I think it was not meat base.. I guess it was soy source base.. Server was kind.. Food : 4/5
Good pho and vermicelli but not my favourite in metro Vancouver. The pho noodles are quite thick which takes away from the great broth flavour. Portions are very generous though!
I dropped by here because one of my friends recommended me. The pho was good(not exceptionally good) but the service was very bad. Never came over to ask if I needed anything, not even once and it wasn t even busy. There were two servers chatting at the counter doing nothing, and when I looked at them to ask more vegetables, they ignored intentionally. I tipped 15% though, hoping that the Vietnamese woman with long fake eyelashes should learn what the customer service is. NEVER GOING BACK considering how many tasty Vietnamese restaurants with good service are out there in Greater Vancouver.
good place for vietnamese food
Salad rolls too wet and too salty. Worst part is they only give 1 roll instead of 2 rolls like the other Vietnamese restaurants, FOR ALMOST THE SAME PRICE.
Edit: had to knock a star off. Their coffee was never great, but to my surprise its actually gotten even worse than before, and theyre charging almost $6 for it. Also the noodles in my pho were a bit undercooked. Used to recommend this place to everybody, but now Im not so sure anymore. Getting ripped off with that coffee still stings. Foods pretty good. My only complaint would be the coffee, they need to pack the coffee better or the water just goes through like a siv resulting in ultra weak coffee.
**update** I brought a friend here for lunch on Oct 31st. We felt cold wanting some hot soupy noodle so we went here. We both ordered SD2. BBH (spicy beef noodle small, $16.95) it did not disappoint us. I also got Ca Phe Sua Da ($5.45) it was so tasty. I had better experience on this visit since hot sauce was available. Food always tastes good with Sriracha sauce. My friend was new to Viet cuisine she liked the food as well.
I can see why people go here for Pho. We went here around past 11, and there is quite a line up already. You get a delicious and big serving of pho. I would recommend getting the spring roll and the Bun bo hue or the spicy beef noodle soup. Its not too spicy. My husband ordered Viet noodle special and there was lots of meat inside.
Do not recommend. They do not clean or strain their broth. Heated up the broth at home and it s full of impurities. When cooking pho traditionally, the bones must be cleaned prior to cooking. The dirty gunk impurities that comes out from the boiling bones must be scooped away. Clearly they do not do this to their broth. We also ordered the chicken and rice and asked for less rice, more veggies. But they still gave regular portions. Very disappointed. First and only time going here.
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the city. I can recommend it to everyone whos in love with vietnamese cuisine.
Very disappointed to be honest.. Nothing special than other Vietnamese restaurants. Not worth waiting in line. Service was the WORST. Food
I really love this place. They have the BEST lemon grass chicken and spring rolls. Really good portions as well
The pho is good, but a little on the pricy side. It makes sense though because the quality of the noodles & meat is high and the portion is big. I prefer more flavourful pho broths, this one is on the lighter side. Service isn t great, probably because the place is too busy. If you come on a day where the line is very long, it s probably not worth the wait since there are so many other great pho places in metro van.
My guest ordered C1 (pork chop, lemongrass chicken, rice, fried egg, etc) and I ordered a lemongrass chicken sub with the 3 bean dessert. My guests C1 came to our table within 10 minutes and looked and tasted great. My sub however took another 10 minutes to arrive and as I was super hungry, I ate it up. However to be perfectly honest, Ive had a much better Lemongrass chicken sub at Ba-Le deli. I did speak to the Manager and he apologized as it was busy. My dessert arrived 15 minutes after I had finished eating my sub and I sadly had to send it back because I was expecting it much sooner. Food is nice here but sadly the service needs to be improved greatly. I cant recommend dining inside but take-out should be fine.
best restaurant in burnaby, insane bang for your buck. I had the chicken pork and shrimp vermicelli bowl which is 20$ and had a hard time finishing it. food is so tasty as well
Worst service I have received in my entire life. Told the server I had a peanut allergy and she even confirmed ok no peanuts . After 40mins of waiting with 2 tables that came after us getting their food before us (assuming they forgot our order and had to remind them about our order) they brought out the food with peanuts in it without saying anything, luckily I noticed. I asked them to change it and they brought out another one in <2 mins which means it didn t take 40 mins to make in the first place. Server lady didn t apologize or say anything after almost killing me. Then when asked for the bill, the server almost charged us $370,000 instead of $37. Food was decent but the service ruined the entire experience.
My favorite place for vermicelli bowls!
This place is awesome! The food was delicious and the portions are big so you can share. They are always busy so we had to wait a little bit for our food but it was worthy. They make the crunchiest spring rolls. Recommended dishes Spring Roll, Supreme Banh MI, Pho DAC Biet House Special, Cilantro, Grilled Pork, Fried Chicken Wings
Food is amazing here! The best pho I ever tried. Prices are very reasonable too. Oh and chicken wings are delicious!!
Delivery side notes were not followed, bowls not provided, parts of order missing. Its the simple things.
2 years ago, we were here ordering spring rolls and rice dish and they were really good. I happened to be in the area again and thought about this place for dinner. I ordered Banh Mi this time. Huge disappointment. A little bit pricey for average taste. The cold cut ham is... COLD (lol) like they came straight out from fridge. Not sure if the bread was old or not kept properly but the inside was VERY dry. Every bite left lots of crumbs on the plate. A standard baguette for Banh Mi is crunchy outside and soft inside, and crumbs should only come from its skin when you bite. Adding some sauce might help enhance the flavor and counteract the dryness. Maybe dont try Banh Mi here. I think the staff should act more friendly although I know the place is pretty busy.
Busy at lunch and there was a line up. Line moved quickly. Great broth for pho!
