Thomsons Kitchen & Bar is a destination for casual dining and after-work drinks. Guests can look forward to a menu offering Canadian dishes prepared in a modern way and a stylish bar serving a well-curated selection of wines, local beers and specialty cocktails. Iconic for its Sunday Brunch Buffet. Located on the lobby level of Hyatt Regency Calgary, along Stephen Avenue Walk. Offers complimentary self-parking to guests dining in, based on availability. Our patio is dog-friendly.
We decided to try their Sunday brunch buffet for a special occasion event and they did not disappoint! As they're part of the Hyatt Hotel they had beautiful Christmas decor which made the place look really nice. We received friendly service through the entire meal, although they forgot our drinks orders a few times and couldn't be found for a long time at one point. Their selection of food was excellent, with clear labels in front stating allergens or lack of. I actually found many items were gluten and dairy free, which is great for those with intolerances. They also constantly replaced empty plates/trays so there was always freshly prepped food out. They had the usual breakfast items like scrambled eggs, omelettes made to order, sausages etc, and they also have eggs benedict's made to order, followed by a carvery station featuring med rare striploin roast, seafood like jumbo shrimp and Atlantic smoked salmon, then the charcuterie board with lots of pickled items, cured meats and cheeses. The highlight dishes for me were definitely the plump jumbo shrimp and the tender smoked salmon- the salmon tasted like it was made in house, it was far better than any store bought one I've ever had! For hot foods they had corn chowder which was delicious and creamy, variety of vegetable dishes, fish and more. Their desserts selection was smaller but still a good variety. I loved their mini tres leches pots. The price was $45/pp which is on the higher side for a lunch/brunch buffet but the quality and variety of food was excellent so it was worth it for us! I can't wait to go back for another celebratory meal!
We went here for Thanksgiving and I must say this is now my favorite restaurant. We had a great experience; all the staff are warm and our server was highly attentive and friendly. She made sure we get the right orders. The food was also satisfying and worth the price. All of us loved what we ordered. The food came in big servings which came as a surprise to us given that it is a hotel restaurant. The ambience was cozy, we had a fine dining experience.
We stayed at the Hyatt so I had breakfast at the restaurant every morning of our stay, as well as some drinks and an appetizer throughout the days we were there. The service was always fantastic, the food was delicious (especially the breakfast poutine) and I love that your always offered a coffee to go. There was one server in particular who’s name I wish I got, she was not my server the day I came back in, but she came up to me anyway since she had been my server the day prior, and asked me follow up questions about the plans I had for that day. She also gave us recommendations on some really cool breweries and even gave us a map with a list and directions.
This place was fabulous because they had Nick and Izzy as employees. We ordered bison short rib they came on a bed, caramelize mushroom with a crisp, polenta wedge and eggplant suckertash. The location is off fun lively busy street in downtown Calgary and an adjacent to the Hyatt hotel. Loved this restaurant I WOULD RECOMMEND
We loved this restaurant! The potatoes are amazingly crunchy and even more elevated when dipped in ketchup. The fruit here is extremely fresh and delicious and so was the avocado toast. The addition of the arugula on it really adds to the spark of the dish. And our waitress was very talkative and friendly. Just a great experience altogether.
We listened to it for a while to cool off before dinner. If you're staying at Hyatt Regency, you can charge your room. We ordered a simple finger food, but it wasn't bad. It's good that it's not crowded compared to other places.
Sunday brunch with decent decorated foods set up and services is consistent offer to refill drinks. Breakfast items not hot enough and salad bar lack of selections or no make your own salads. Server always offer for fresh cook egg Benedict from kitchen. This is my second brunch buffet within 6 months!
This is my new favourite brunch place in Calgary. Amazing selection of foods and desserts prime rib, omelette station, lox, shrimp, potatoes and more. eggs benedict was one of the best i have had. Everything just melts in your mouth. Highly recommend! Food 10/10. Service was amazing 10/10. It’s kid friendly, Parking is available at the Telus convention or street parking. It’s affordable $45 per person!
Food is not worth the price. I ordered a steak sandwich and it was the worst I have ever had. They definitely dont know how to cook steak. It was stilling mooing and my next one was so rough i couldnt cut through it with my knife. A few of the other items were decent but nothing I would come back for. Waitresses were mediocre and didnt listen. The venue was beautifully decorated but thats honestly the only good thing I have to say.
They have a great executive express lunch that features a main with soup/salad/fries and a dessert. The restaurant is quite small though, so you probably always need a reservation and you might not have much luck with the walk in dinning. Our server was exceptionally friendly. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options for celiac
Dennis and Irene were amazing!! They were helping my company organized an amazing event! The food and drinks are excellent and the area is gorgeous! Greatly recommended for food and corporate events.
Parking: We had three hours of free parking, with validaton Food
During our annual stay at the Hyatt we always stop at Thomsons Kitchen. Welcoming ambiance, flavourful food and 5 star service. What else would you expect with Hyatt. In addition to their spectacular performance, this restaurant knows how to correct mistakes. What restaurant doesnt have mistakes. Its all about how the staff addresses and resolves these instances. Without getting into the details. We addressed a concern with a menu order. Our server Irene brought over chef Allan and they both handled the situation with such professionalism, it would be hard for me not to give 5 stars. Additionally the manager visited our table to follow up and further apologize for the unfortunate mistake. The feeling of being cared for is priceless. Thank you Irene and Allan.
What a disappoint. It s been a number of years since we have been to Thomsons. Unfortunately it s really slipped in every aspect. It used to be a fun comfy place to go and have a nice meal. Not anymore, the entire bar/dining room lacks any kind of theme. The main room in particular feels like a poorly run community hall. Service was subpar and the food was just very very average. Sad how far this restaurant has fallen.
Im not sure how to say it...It was pretty awful. Food was hot, presentation was decent. Waitress was polite, but never checked in on how our meal was. We had the before Theatre dinner, fixed menu. Our salad featured falafel balls, Im certain had been cooked earlier in the day, and refried for us. They were warm, crispy and very greasy. I would not have put them with the salad. Main course was Chicken Schnitzel, came out hot and crisp, zero flavor. Horseradish sauce served with them, strange choice. The coating and the chicken had zero seasoning/flavor; large, expensive chicken fingers... A&W next door does those better. I chose the premium wine pairing with it, and extra $10. Not worth it; it needed to have decanted or breathed before being served. We mentioned the lack of flavor to the manager (I assume she was); and actually asked for plumb sauce for our chicken fingers...no offer other than to remake our dinner; which was half consumed. Dessert was cheese cake, hard to mess up. It was consumed, but we were pretty turned off by now. Dinner came out quick, and got us out in time for our 7PM show. This feeds my theory (which I should have stuck to); dont eat at hotel restaurants...
Beautiful atmosphere, the staff were great, the cheese plate was delicious either way wine. We sat by the fireplace either was warm and cozy
service is so owesome and friendly waiter (ringo ) special request and the chief allan very friendly ask me hows the dishes he prepared and i love it both waiter and chief is 7star food is so so good
Waited over 45 minutes to get a round of drinks and they forgot half the tables drinks. Took over an hour for them to even offer to take our food orders.
Destiny made our evening! She s so sweet, all the other staff were fab! 10/10 would recommend!
Destiny was amazing. Excellent customer service. Would return on a trip from Ottawa.
Slow service both times I have been here even though there is no one really there. Does not have the wine on the list of wines as both times I have been. I had the waitress come back saying not in stock. First time I returned my steak back cause I asked for rare and got well done. Second was fish and was well over cooked and cold. Very pricy for poor service and food. Dont recommend.
We stayed at the Hyatt and ate here multiple times. For dinner, we had the bacon cheeseburger, short rib poutine and a salad - everything was exceptional! For breakfast, we had the classic eggs benny and the avocado toast! They were super tasty. My only feedback is that the ambiance is very hotel-lounge-esque.
3 of us had lunch here yesterday. Restaurant wasn t busy. Just a few tables were populated in the patio. Server was nice but service was super slow. Food wasn t good! Took quite a while for us to get our food after ordering. I had a Ceasar salad with salmon as an add on. The salmon alone was $15, overcooked, dry and cold. Romaine wasn t very fresh either. The other 2 folks meals weren t very good either. For prices charged, quality of the ingredients should be much better.
We stopped by your restaurant yesterday for a cocktail on route to our dinner reservation at another restaurant and decided to order the steak bites as an appetizer. We were amazed at how good the steak was and decided to cancel our reservation and stay for dinner at Thomsons! The food was incredible, and the service was top-notch. Our server Hailey was amazing and made our experience great!! Next time we are in Calgary, we will be back!
A couple of friends and I decided to try out your restaurant for the first time Wednesday evening. We sat on the patio and really enjoyed the live music. The food was UNREAL! Our server Haley recommended the chicken wings for a starter and the raspberry gin lemonade. Haley was super friendly and kept the vibes high all night. 10/10 would recommend.
As breakfasts go, pretty pricey. But Holy Crap!,,, was it tasty. Had a Benny with lobster. Interesting fact. Free underground parking while dining on the patio. Just made a return visit better than likely!!!!! Mmmmm. Lobster Benny. Eggs from range-fed chickens. Fresh spinach that still had some crunch. Ill take a picture next time. Spent $18 for parking elsewhere. That wont happen again. Visited during Stampede. Service was stellar!
First time eating at this place and I would come back in a heartbeat. Me and my friends ate on the patio and it was a comfortable place to socialize. The food was great, I got the bison Putin and I would highly recommend it. All of the staff were very welcoming. I believe our server was Haley she treated us very well and made for a great experience.
We celebrated a belated Mothers Day here. Everything was great, the food choices were abundant and dietary restrictions were considered. I give the experience a 99.99% - I just with there was a dairy-free dessert option. Vegetarian options: There were ample vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: Buffet Items all had signs that assisted. At our table we had a family with gluten free and dairy-free diets. They were able to happily dine without additional considerations or requests.
The food was delicious, the service was absolutely awesome and very professional, and the ambience is lovely. Highly recommended!
Food was absolutely delicious and creative. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. Can t wait to come back!
We changed up our brunch routine and checked out this restaurant our server Tammy was awesome, so friendly and the food was amazing. Will we definitely come back now that we know parking is free. I had the Dutch pancake and farmers breakfast both of us left full and was a perfect non expensive bunch date
Hayley was honestly the best server Ive ever had I came in on Wednesday and she made the experience so pleasurable and shes so funny
Located inside Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Calgary. Stylish modern decor with clean and cozy dinning space. Service was super friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious and well presented. Will definitely come back and highly recommended!
This place was pretty disappointing. The food was less than mediocre. Ive had frozen dishes better in all honesty. We went for supper cause we heard the breakfast was good, but I was mistaken. As we were ordering our menus were immediately taken away before we could finish making our order. Not to mention the wait time was pretty long. btw they werent even busy. The atmosphere was nice we liked that, but everything else was a let down. If you want over priced dishes that are creative then by all means go here.
An exceptional Sunday brunch! Great value for the cost. They cover your parking cost too. Dietary restrictions: Our daughter must eat GF foods. They have a very good selection. Kid-friendliness: Our four year old grandson loved the food and his time with his Mom, Grandma & Papa!
Chef Allan and Chef Sebastian were awesome!!!Delicious food made, and the staff were very accommodating!!
A decent pub, with unwarranted prices. Youre paying for the atmosphere and location, I guess. Went with a large group that ordered several appetizers for the table. People were comfortable sharing bites of their mains and discussing the food. It was pub food, maybe a long the lines of a Milestones pub. The bison steak was filling but the veggies that accompanied it were fried in oil and all tasted basically the same. The truffle fries and fries pickles were nicely presented, but small portions for the price. Best thing anyone ordered was the bison poutine, which is probably the only thing Id think about coming back for. We went elsewhere for dessert because the group wasnt interested in giving the benefit of the doubt to the dessert menu. For the price, I expected better food and drink options. A lot of the shareables are basic pub food with no noticeable upgrades warranting the price. Lots of basic wine options, but in a city with a fabulous craft beer scene there was not a single local brew on the menu. The variety of beer was also lacking, with mostly lager and pils.
We come here for our annual Mothers Day brunch. Food quality is great but the service is hit and miss... love the atmosphere of the restaurant as well.
We went for Mother s Day Brunch. Thomsons Kitchen &Bar. Services excellent, food delicious. We recommended with ours experienced. Ours family enjoyed brilliant.
We came here due to a recommendation for their bison poutine. While it was great, the cheese curds were not melted at all, which should be an integral part of poutine.
Great Sunday brunch; friendly staff, high quality ingredients and dishes.
Excellent brunch buffet and amazing service by all the staff at the restaurant! Really loved all the great quality options like the homemade sauces, homemade desserts, etc. The striploin roast and the au jus was superb. Id consider this a premier option for a more upscale brunch buffet in the city. Would definitely come back! The free parking in the heated garage is nice too.
Dined here for the first time for a friends birthday. Unfortunately missed our servers name but she did a fantastic job!!
We had my birthday here and we had the most wonderful customer service and great quality food. I highly recommend this restaurant! We had Irene and Nick along with another well attentive server cater to our party. After some bad experiences at previous restaurants, this one was a breath of fresh air. Thank you Gwen for arranging the seating area for us! We had a wonderful time!
Nice family friendly place for brunch. Good service and choice of food.
We chose Thomsons for the Stellar Set Dinner option prior to attending the theatre which was only a short walk away. Because of diet restrictions we needed a slight shift to the set menu for which the server brought the chef out to chat about those possibilities. Small changes were made and the meal was delivered to us by the chef himself. Wine paired with the Stellar meal was a good house Chardonnay. Our server Irene was excellent as well. Based on this experience we will return. Recommend.
I was order WARM BRIE & SOURDOUGH. They gave me normal toast . wondering and tell my server ,got her answer Are you sure?
I had the absolute BEST experience imaginable. Me and my friends went to a dinner at Thompsons restaurant for Valentines dinner. We had the most gorgeous view by sitting in the best seat in the house! The ambiance and decor were amazing with beautiful flowers. The food was BEYOND INCREDIBLE! We had Rockefeller Pink bay oyster for the first time I ve been missing out! The sauce of the Canadian breast salad was so tasty, perfectly spiced, and the fresh homemade bison short rib and foie gras to die for! Then, the vacherin dessert . WOWZERS! I can t remember the exact name but it should be called the vanilla strawberry Vacherin, Deliciousness! It s a whole experience in itself! The service . I was completely blown away by the best service I ve ever had named Ringo. Gwen the manager, stopped by my table a few times just to check in and make such my night was going well. Ringo gave really good recommendations on drinks and food. izzy was very cute in her red outfit as a greet the seated us in our beautiful table. This team was TOP NOTCH! I can t say enough about my personal experience. Thomsons went above and beyond to make my night amazing. I couldn t have asked for anything more! Thank you for making our valentines night extra special by spoiling us beyond our imagination! 10/10 recommended!
Last night, i went to Thomsons Restaurant to celebrate a Valentine s Day with my friends. The restaurant has a great vibe and the decor is beautiful. The restaurant was spotless and I felt very safe eating. The ambiance is superb, I highly recommend this restaurant, the food was amazing and the service was fantastic. Special thanks to chef Sebastian and Allan. We all enjoyed your delicious 5 set menu from starter to dessert. My favourite was baked oysters, very delicious. The truffle potato potage was amazing. Bison short ribs and foie gras is very remarkable. Lastly i can t forget our dessert vanilla strawberry vacherin kudos to the pastry chef. Specifically mention my Server Ringo who did an excellent job that night. You really made our experience here outstanding! If/when we come back we hope you take care of us again because we were so impressed at how well you did your job! Lastly, also wanna say thank you to the managers (Lei, Gwen, Mark) who stepped up and helped the floor to be smooth and meaningful valentines dates for my friends and loved ones. Again kudos and see you next time.
The food is great and our server was friendly. Definitely will go back again. Our servers named Ringo and Jhoy is so lovely and accommodating.
Christmas 2023 .. today is Christmas.i am by myself and decided it would be nice to go out fir Christmas dinner and take in their buffet. Called and was told they are unable to accommodate a single person at any time, if there was more than myself they can seat me. Sad frustrated and very upsetting. What if this was told to a new widower, recently divorced parent. I asked if they had any availability all evening for one, they said no, sorry. I think the Manger or whom ever set such policy needs a senior management review.
How does this place have four stars? We went for dinner and the menu was significantly over priced. My chicken sandwich and my girlfriends fish and chips were tasteless, both almost $25. The fries were mediocre. A bowl of soup, basic but decent, $14. A glass of wine, $22. The wings? $21 for 9, and they were terrible. How do you screw up wings? The service was ok until it was the end of the meal and they wouldnt split the check because our discount couldnt be applied to more than one bill. So instead of doing the right thing our group ended up having to awkwardly do math and count cash. They could have saved us the trouble but why bother I guess. Wont be returning.
Great place
Over price mediocre food with super slow service. The restaurant wasn t even busy. Was late for our meeting and had schedule an 1.5 hour business lunch. There are dozen of better restaurants that are just right outside.
Service was ok, but the website and parking vouchers incorrectly state that parking is complimentary as a guest of the restaurant. They do not validate the parking unless you spend a minimum of $40per person which is not specified anywhere. The website does not state this nor does the ticket. We even asked the server before we sat down and no mention of it. False advertising! They waited until we all had settled our bills and past last call before telling us this policy. They then rudely told us to leave as they were closing well before their 12 o clock closing time.
Aweful. This place has really gone downhill. There are so many better restaurants in the area.
The staff here are absolutely amazing. I had the pleasure of dealing with your incredibly talented bartenders. Both Zack and tillil. Irene is phenomenal. The manager even took the time to come out and help out when they were busy. Came over and shook my hand. This is customer service at its finest. They even remembered my name. I m super impressed. I will always stay here every time I m in Calgary now, just because of this restaurant. Thank you for the top notch service!
Great service Ms Natalia welcome me with all information obout service.Iam visiting Calgary first time ( from Toronto) and I am very impressed with customers service .Food was delicious served by Ms Tammy she is super professional ambassador.Thank you all for making my holiday so happy in Hyatt Regency downtown Calgary .
Ambience and service really good - just disappointed by the fish and chips we ordered for mum! It was mushy cod inside and so was the batter - not impressed! Got her sick with the running tummy all night and day after - had to start medication and rehydrate her. The drinks, Lamb shank and the bourgignone was really good!
Food is good. Plenty of options. Service is excellent. Portions were a lot bigger than expected. Its a bit dark and the tables are really wide or high in comparison to the table that they are but weird to eat at.
Awful...No one brought our group water for quite a while, had to go ask for water to be brought to our table.Waited well over an hour for our food, wasnt even busy in the restaurant, and they wouldnt even make a cup of coffee for my Mom. He says they dont serve coffee after a certain time...like really!!?? If the service was better, she would have her coffee. We didnt eat until after 9pm...terrible service.
Thomsons Kitchen and Bar was an excellent place located within the Hyatt Hotel downtown. The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable of the menu. Each person seemed to have an answer for their recommendation immediately so there are delicious options for anyone no matter what your preference. The bison bourgignone and bison meatballs were excellent and filling. Potatoes and carrots were soft and flavorful, while the meatballs were served chilled which added a unique contrast to what I was expecting. The meat fell off the bone with the lamb shanks. The mashed potatoes were light and smooth with a richness that accented the lamb perfectly. The squash wedges had a hint of crisp to them and seasoned magnificently bringing out the subtle flavors on the plate. Very impressed with Thomsons Kitchen. Ill be back to try more items on their menu.
It was my experience and not the good one. I loved the decor and ambiance in Hyatt so thought to have lunch there. The Salas I ordered came with the prawns went bad with old artichokes. Then I replaced it with another simple cranberry ceaser salad which came with kinda frozen, stuck together, chewy cranberries. And the service was very slow, I had to go to ask the bartender to call a server. I am not sure if I will go back again, pretty sad and disappointed.
Overall this is a standard hotel restaurant, above average though. -Great waiter -Decent food (coffee and omelette) -ample seating -decent price -Good vibe with fireplace and open concept Not a bad spot if you are in the area and need to stay close to the hotel section of town.
Our server, Ringo, did an incredible job, was extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We will definitely return. He is a great asset to your restaurant.
I cannot review the restaurant atmosphere since I was not inside the restaurant, but I ate the food, wow! The food was absolutely amazing! The Caesar salad was one of the best Caesar salads i have ever had in my life the burger and fries are also amazing! Room service was excellent, it was also really cool for my mom to see potato chips on a silver platter!
We went for a birthday dinner and they didn t disappoint. The waiter was great and attentive. The food arrived quickly and was excellent. I would recommend them for a drink and bar snacks or for a special dinner experience
My husband and I came here for breakfast. The server was so nice and the food was delicious we both got big breakfasts and enjoyed every bite. I would definitely recommend eating here if you re staying at the hotel or in the area. The server even helped us plan the rest of our outings for the day recommending nearby attractions.
2 end time we have been to this restaurant. Absolutely love it
We came here for the Theatre Calgary set menu dinner and had a fantastic experience. The food came out very promptly and was delicious. The wine options were excellent and our service was great. Our server even took the time to tell us a bit about the history of the building which was truly a great experience. I would definitely come back again!
Exquisite Sunday brunch! Fresh and delcious. The perfect selection that will please every palate.
I had a bad experience here a while back but went again and did the theatre menu. It was outstanding. I would recommend it even though the chef is a tool.
A nice breakfast while staying at the Hyatt hotel.
Few choices for Sunday Brunch, in my opinion, not worth it for the price. Parking: Since ity at Hyatt, free parking for guests. Food : 3/5 |
This was the worst breakfast we have ever had, our food took a long time and when it came the avocado toast was cold, the English muffins on my eggs Benedict were rock hard and I cut barely cut them, and the overnight oats were horrid. We told our server and she said she would tell the kitchen. There was no offer to correct the issue and we were charged full price for this meal. We will NEVER eat here again and will be sure to pass this along to our family and friends, extremely disappointed.
A hidden gem for a Sunday brunch buffet. Wonderful selection of high quality dishes, all well made and fresh (Eggs Benedict are all made fresh to order, with a freshly made hollandaise). I very much appreciate the labels identifying allergens. The staff are all very attentive and friendly. And they now have a patio! Dietary restrictions: Allergens are labeled for each dish. They have many gluten free/dairy free options.
Staff were very friendly and professional, it was obvious their high level of care for the experience we would have! Food was outstanding, chef Jory is amazing and came to our table and gave us a great experience! Beef and lamb chef specials were fantastic portions and so delicious!
Staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was creative and delicious. The A/C was very welcome as respite to the hot Calgary summer weather and heat from the concrete-lined 8th Avenue (Steven Avenue). I didnt realize this was part of the Hyatt suite of restaurants. Highly recommend and will be back!
We were looking for a nice place to have brunch on Sunday and came across Thomsons. We arrived shortly after they opened and waited a while till finally someone came to greet and seat us. Before we settled, we first took a look at the buffet since we had bad experiences before. It looked absolutely awesome and smelled delicious. So, we decided to stay. Unfortunately, this is where the positive experience ended. Our server, though sweet and friendly, was as unattentive as they come. Never looked in our direction or made eye contact. Only really came to the table once at the beginning to take our eggs Benny order. We even had to ask, what I guess was the supervisor who also was mainly just chatting with the servers and standing around, for our bill (after we tried for about 10 minutes to get anyones attention). The food, despite the looks, was rather disappointing. Nothing tasted really good. The eggs Benedict were a total disappointment. We havent been asked how we like them, they came medium though I prefer them soft, the thin slice of ham didnt even cover the whole muffin, hardly any hollandaise, both portions were served on one plate, as I asked for another plate it took so long I got up and got one myself. The hollandaise had no flavour whatsoever. Now the oAll other items also had no flavour or tasted strange. The roast beef was so overcooked that it was hard to cut. The whole experience was a major disappointment and is definitely not worth the money they are charging. The attached pictures show how awesome it looks, but thats really where anything positive ends. Stay away and save your money. Now theyre asking me for another chance... I will definitely not spend another 40 bucks a person for the mere chance they are better now.
The food was incredible. I went with my friends and the food did not disappoint. In my opinion the prices are a bit high but definitely worth it for the food and experience.
Great wine and service :)
Steak bites and truffle fries were so good. The beef was juicy and tender. The service was excellent.
Attended an event at Thomsons put on by the Hyatt. The food choices were high quality, fresh and thoughtful. I was impressed with the poke bar, and the build your own spice jar bar! It was a great event, and the staff were there to whisk away soiled napkins, glassware and plates, and replenished our drinks quickly. An excellent afternoon at the Hyatt!
Veg Burger was okay and drinks were very expensive.
Nice Restaurant with Great service. Food wasnt the best though. Reasonably priced.
Amazing breakfast. Gourmet omelettes. Fresh OJ. Not typical hotel restaurant food!
I though I would give this a try when the google rating was 4.0 and other places were higher. The food pictures looked great. I booked a reservation online and arrived. Got greeted and sit down after. The food was ok but they were warm and nearly COLD, except the omelettes station that she made me a fresh omelette on the spot. Otherwise the sausages, bacon, Oatmeal, prime rib (including the sauce) were boarder line cold. We also ordered the pancakes, and they can make them for you. They were very hard, more cakes than pancakes. Service was ok, it wasn t good, but it wasn t too bad. I have to ask for coffee every time. I also asked for water twice before I get a water. I also have to asked for the bill. There was No motivation to provide a great experience or services. I tipped 15%, I should ve tipped much less since it was buffet and more self serve and I had to ask for things. And also it wasn t busy at all. It was consider pretty quiet. I will probably not come back. I think a lower class hotel like best western has a much better buffet, much better friendly service and lower price. This is not something than I expected from Hyatt hotel group.
The food was terrible. Steak sandwiches were awful. All 3 cooked wrong, and really fatty. Took forever to get someone at our table. However; the manager was kind and discounted our bill. Regardless we would not go back.
Nick the waiter was excellent. Great suggestions with regards to food and drink. I didn t remember to take pictures of the food. But the banana bread pudding dessert was AMAZING. The atmosphere is lovely. The patio is great for people watching too.
Good service and good food. Will definitely come back maybe for Sunday brunch.
We had an enjoyable brunch experience at Thomson. The food is fresh and delicious. Their made-to-order egg benedict is yummy. Their server Lillian delivered superb service. My kids love their brunch items and desserts.
We were a table of six, grabbing dinner before going to a fabulous Bonnie Raitt concert. Unfortunately, our order took more than an hour to arrive! One meal was incorrect; i.e. very overdone, deep fried chicken in the Crunchy Peruvian Chicken Sandwich rather than the requested grilled chicken. Also, the Seared Ahi Tuna Lettuce Wrap was not very fresh (already starting to smell fishy although it shouldn t). When the meals arrived, the person assisting to serve the meals (seemed to be a manager?) reached right in front of my face to deliver a steak sandwich to my friend sitting beside me (somewhat of a rude surprise, to say the least). All-in-all, the food was alright but not nearly to the standards I had expected from a Hyatt Regency restaurant. Very disappointing.
Came in for breakfast on sept 30th around 9:30 am for breakfast. Our server seemed quite annoyed to serve us. Once our food was delivered she didnt come back to check on us once. I had recieved the incorrect drink and couldnt drink it with my meal. There was maybe 5 other tables @ the time and they had 3 servers that I could see. Even once we were done with our food she didnt come by for about 20 minutes, even tho she glanced over at us 3 or 4 times Not very pleased with this dining experience.
The food and service were excellent. I had the veggie burger, there are lots of options for plant based meals as well as to accommodate dietary restrictions. My only complaint was that my friend made a reservation for our group and with only the address I found it difficult to find the entrance. The food prices are very reasonable, but their cocktails are a bit pricey. Overall we really enjoyed our evening here!
Old school Calgary vibe. Inclusive. Warmed olives are perfect. They even make their own pickle. Customer service is friendly and professional. Hasnt changed one bit :)
Super good place to have a meal and a beer in the city! The staff is super super friendly and attentive. The meals have good portions for the price and the quality is really good. Ask for the raspberry sour beer and you won t regret it!
Christmas buffet being advertised now for $145. No. Not worth it. Average food. Staff cant answer questions.
Great food and service from Ezra. Definitely will come back!
Amazing place, great service. Loved how was able to have personalized eggs with a cook at the station adding topping I want. Also our server was FANTASTIC her name was EZRA. Didn t have the same service anywhere else. Can t wait to come again.
Title: A Memorable Dining Experience at Thompsons Restaurants Message: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Thompsons Restaurants and I must say, it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The presentation was simply exquisite, making each bite a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. The service was exceptional, with attentive waitstaff Ezra who were knowledgeable about the menu and always ready to offer suggestions and accomodate
Good. Wifes Christmas party was here. Good food and the service was good as well.
The mushroom ravioli is delicious!
Valentines. Worst food experience of a high expectation location I ve ever had. Took an hour and a half to get food and everything was really bad. I mean, bad/ bad. Haven t been out on a Valentines in 7 years. Pre-paid for the dinner that was oysters, mushroom bisque, and salmon. Paid to have rose petals added to my table and was very excited for the night. I can get over the fact that the tables are too large for the booths and you sink so low it s difficult to properly poise over your plate. The table literally sits at your chest. What I can t get over is the terrible quality food. The oysters were extremely fishy and the infusions were poorly done. The room temperature mushroom bisque was much like the clumpy texture of unmixed, canned mushroom soup and the added elements were not complimentary to say the least. I thought once the salmon came it would redeem the $200 ticket I paid. It was so dry, I couldn t eat it. I literally did not eat my Valentines dinner. I left half the bottle of Prosecco because it was so disappointing I just wanted to go home. I m not the type to say any food experience could ruin my night but Thomsons managed to accomplish so. You actually ruined my Valentines evening with one disappointing dish after another. I felt like an idiot in front of my date for bringing them here.
Thomsons used to be a go to before or after events at Arts Commons specifically for some amazing nachos and a homey atmosphere. Renovations and changes to decore have taken away some of that comfortable charm. And they no longer offer the nachos. BIG mistake. Food is good but very expensive. A Ceasar salad and poutine came to $40. Tasty but the poutine portion wasnt value for the price. Im very disappointed to lose one of our favorite hangouts. I doubt we will be back anytime soon.
Great food and service
Ive been to this place many times in the past for their breakfast buffet and when the bar used to be Sandstone. It was Christmas week and there was no availability in many restaurants in Calgary ( Christmas after too strict restrictions) and since the bar has a new face so we gave it a shot. Cocktails list was okay . Lady host was nice, after few minutes of getting seated, while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive I asked the server ( I could not see the name tag bald guy) for a cocktails menu since I couldnt find it in those sheets on table. He said we dont have. I was shocked! I repeat seriously you dont have a cocktails menu? Yes! he replied. It is in your website so I am sure you have a cocktails list. I asked again: Do you serve cocktails? He said yes? So how do we know what to order? He replied we can make whatever you guys order like Margarita, Old fashioned blah blah!!! I said and you dont have menu for those drinks? NO! Oh my gosh! this guy must be kidding me
Great place for brunch! The chef s signature bison breakfast poutine is a must try!
Our family go to breakfast/brunch place. Good Food and portions are big enough to fill us. Free underground parking. Kid friendly, clean, and wonderful & friendly staff. A quiet, cozy and warm ambiance. & on.. New Year s Day 2022 - they re open and had a good light lunch. Shareables & Soup
Having dined there before I was surprised at our experience last Friday evening. The staff seemed disorganized, we were asked multiple times if someone had taken our order by different staff, and when we said no they said they would be back. When we were finally looked after we ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. Drinks arrived quickly however the appetizer and our entrees arrived at the same time. When I mentioned that it wasnt ideal I was told sorry as they walked away and it was obvious they did not care. Food was not of the quality I had enjoyed before either with the ravioli barely warm and the curry served with large clumps in the rice, the steak sandwich was OK. I am aware that Covid has made for challenging staffing but to be treated flippantly by the staff didnt have my empathy extended as far as it would typically I stay at the Hyatt for both business and personal travel and always dine at Thomsons. This however has left me rethinking my future choices
We have never been treated so shabbily as by the reception and wait service received ever. We made reservations online for 6PM April 03, 2022. We found the restaurant after great difficulty and around the block due to very inadequate signage as to how to even find an entrance to this restaurant that wasnt locked. Being from out of the area, we did not know that this restaurant had any affiliation to downtown Hyatt/Regency. We just recently purchased an apartment in downtown Calgary and wanted to explore the restaurant scene. We were looking for a street entrance to the restaurant. When we did finally find the secret door (accessed through the lobby of Hyatt, (as all street accesses to the restaurant were locked), and approached to be seated, we were told most Toffee Nosed that people just know where the access to Thomsons is.... We expressed at that point that we were unfamiliar & looking for a nice meal. This comment however did nothing to change his demeanor towards us. Once seated, we were brought menus, and water by the same (I really prefer not to call him a gentleman), male waiter. we asked for a few moments. At which time we were so blatantly ignored for 20 minutes. The restaurant was not busy. When we finally got his attention it was to ask him to supply us with a wine list. This was supplied with distain. At that point, we left. So I cannot comment on the food, but the service from this particular person was absolutely horrid. We did however have a lovely dinner and a very positive experience across the street at Milestones and the Bank & Baron the night previous. Would highly recommend that a sign be posted on lobby doors of the Hyatt to indicate that it was the only way to access Thompsons, and really recommend that this incident be brought forward to your wait staff.
Pleasant surroundings with great food. Loved my double patty burger with bacon and cheese. Even with quite a few people sound levels were good for visiting. Service was efficient and attentive. There are a couple of different areas to accommodate different size groups.
Visited on a Friday night at 9:45pm. There werent many people there. However the music and the ambiance was great. Got seated near the fireplace and was immediately attended to. Had 2 appetizers (the sweet dry pork ribs and the steak bites) both of which are good enough to be main courses on their own if the portions were larger. Had 2 cocktails (the cosmopolitan and long island ice tea) and both tasted great with the alcohol ratio being good in each drink. Had the ravioli for the main course and added chicken while my wife had the fish and chips. The main courses could have been better because there was a little burnt area of the chicken in the ravioli and the fish was very batter heavy and needed extra salt and better to improve the taste. However, the portions were quite large and satisfying with the fish being big, and the ravioli minus the burnt chicken tasted great. This is a great spot to enjoy the company of who you are with and to have good food as well. Highly recommend the steak bites!
We ate here several times and thought the food and service to be very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked if we could hold a reception with a hot buffet for 15 people, and they let us use a semi private part of the bar, and they were very accommodating and reasonable. If we come back to Calgary again we will definitely stay here again.
It took a long time to have the food cooked Well Over an hour. And it was not that busy. Over Half hour or for appetizer which was just fries ? Seems like frozen fries from the store I could easily buy myself My steak I was hoping would have more flavour, no sauce or steak spices and was dry . I could of had better for cheaper at typical chain restaurants or cook myself. Service waiter was the only reason I put stars on the review. Ordered sangria was not really made correct either could not drink it all.
We came here for their special buffet such as Christmas and Easter.
The breakfast poutine is killer. Also the Sunday brunch buffet!
Great place, great staff
TLDR: Great Food, issues with Waiter. Food was honestly really good. I ordered a steak sandwich, and the Mrs. Ordered a Thomson burger. Both were 10/10 on the taste side. Our waiter however I think had issues finding our table(restaurant is not that big) and remembering to bring both our drinks. He apogized when I got up to remind him, be he still forgot of our existence a few minutes later. The other tables around seemed to garner more attention for some reason?
Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff. Great food reasonably priced for downtown Calgary. Highly recommended for a family or business dinner.
Service and food was excellent
Perfect place to unwind with a drink and food! Love performing at this laid back fun restaurant!
Nice spot. Good food and good service.
Excellent service, stellar location. Will definitely come again! From Rakattack
Only called in for a drink. If you wanted to use toilet had to ask bar staff to unlock door.
Just avoid going here for food. Also, service on their patio could be improved. Ordered a medium well steak and this what I got (you can see how it was in the centre). Will definitely not be eating here again.
Irene was absolutely amazing, fantastic service and great food to match. 10/10 experience
This place was really rad and slightly overpriced for the qualify you got. Im assuming this was due to the CPA conference going on and the staff running around like chickens in chaos mode.
Pricey for the quality.
The buffet was fantastic and the service was great, we will be back for sure!
There was a bit of a rush at this place, but in spite of that the service was quick. We had been there for a late lunch and were quite hungry, so we were happy to get the food quickly. The food was good. The portion size was great, the drinks were amazing and best of all was the service.
Great meal...steaks and fish! Service was outstanding...so friendly and helpful! Old fashioned was very good as well as the wine selection.
Stopped in while visiting Calgary for the stampede! Service was excellent, delicious and fresh tasting food with very reasonable prices!
My bf and I chose this restaurant since it didnt look too busy and thinking quick service. Wrong. To make a long story short. There service is terrible. Waitresses walk past your table seeing you have no drinks no menus. Leaving you sitting there wondering why no one is serving you. Another couple after us was seated promptly. Given menus. Their order taken quite soon after arriving after us. Those are just a few of the cons. But the pros would be that they had a beautiful singer there, Michela Sheedy. I thoroughly enjoyed her singing and the songs she sang. We ordered the steak sandwich. It was delicious. I never order medium rare. But this was so good. We decided we will give this restaurant a second chance. Only because of the food. Hopefully their service will be a whole lot better. Im too patient amd forgiving.
Lovely place. Met a friend for a drink and bites. Patio is nice, right on Stephen Avenue. Great for people watching. Food was lovely, service fantastic!
GREAT Food. GREAT Service. While visiting Calgary my wife and popped in to Thomsons Kitchen for dinner. We had no reservation but were promptly seated where we asked. Our server, Ringo, was awesome. Super friendly and very attentive without being too there . Perfect balance. The food was among the best restaurant meals we have ever enjoyed. The chef really knows his way around food. If we lived in Calgary, we would be regulars. Well done.
Nice to sit outside and enjoy the movement of people passing by. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was possible to eat at gluten-free and vegan dessert.
This was not a good experience at all. We went there because it seemed to be fairly quiet and now I see why. We walked in and were greeted by the manager (I assume) who was not the friendliest to begin with and we were shown to our table right away. We noticed an Indigenous gentleman that we had spoken to outside come into the restaurant as well after asking us where he could find a good steak. He was very polite and seemed to really just be looking for a good place to eat. He was immediately meet with the manager and a security guard that told him he had 1 minute to leave before they call the cops. Its possible there was more to this story, but after our interaction with this gentleman outside I can honestly say that he was completely sober and very polite, so I have to assume that this was just discrimination. We were in sort of a rush to get to a show at Jack Singer so we unfortunately did not have time to find another place to eat, so we stayed and waiting for our waiter. We sat and watched staff standing around or seating people, but nobody made an attempt to even take our drink order. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to ask us what we would like to drink and watching as tables were served that came in long after us, we decided we would leave. On our way out I made a comment to what appeared to be a supervisor that they needed more staff and her response was I know, right. I explained that we were leaving because of their lack of service and walked out. We should have known that it wasnt a place we wanted to eat right after they kicked the gentleman out. Something clearly needs to be done about management at this location.
I tried few different breakfast. It wasn t that good. But i was staying at the hotel so it was convenient.
Great
So disappointed. 38$ brunch per adult. Was served a very gross omelette. Was completely ignored by the waiter. Two woman and two kids. Saw other tables were being served eggs Benedict didn t see any on buffet table. Our server seated a table of men ajd offered them eggs Benedict included in the breakfast asked them how many they wanted. We had already ate at the sub par buffet. Even the dessert table was disappointing there was a Costco cake and a few other choices. Surprised by the good reviews here. Everything about the place was disappointing and thus overpriced.
Great place for a family dinner. With older family members I m always looking for a place with comfortable seating that isn t too loud. Thomson s delivered. Great food, wonderful service and incredible ambiance.
There were 7 of us and the server got 1 out of 7 orders right. Despite getting almost everything wrong and not even offering to replace anything other than an overcooked steak, the only thing comped was a meal that came out 30 minutes after everyone else s. To be fair, the one meal that they got right, was delicious! Unfortunately, they didn t bring the red wine we ordered to go with it :( . I have never experienced anything quite like this place and recommend you all go across the street
Came here for breakfast seated near the fire place which was great. While having an upper market feel it is let down by duct tape hiding wires. Accessibility was good for physically constrained people. The food was ok, whilst having a great sounding menu the food I personally got was not great. I ordered the wild boar on toast (pork belly basically) and the cut of meat I got was 80% fat which I had to leave aside. Whilst I appreciate pork belly is naturally fatty maybe the kitchen could have been more sympathetic to the diner especially because it was about $20 for essentially thick bacon on toast.
Ordered the lamb shank. It was delicious and a great seasonal dish. It was tender and fall off the bone. Mash potatoes was creamy and charred beets was a good contrast to the lamb.
Great place for Sunday brunch on special occasions. Good variety of food, with good service. Remember parking is complementary in the basement of the Hyatt hotel.
We had an amazing meal last evening. I can t think of a single thing I would have asked to be done differently. For starters our group had the scallops (melt in your mouth), tuna was delicious with dill and cucumbers, grilled carrots with an amazing cashew cream, bison carpaccio and finally a so delicious fried rice I can t believe this is cauliflower . We all chose steaks for our mains. Mine was strip loin- so tender and tasty served with smoked potatoes, kale and sour cream. We topped the meal off with 6, yes six, of us sharing the cake of the day. It was maple walnut. I m not kidding, it was a massive piece of delicious cake. We had such a great time with great friends and great food. Update Feb 13, 2021 We chose to go to Thomsons again for our first real restaurant experience since the lifting of some of the COVID-19 restrictions. I m so glad we did! The food was so delicious! The Valentines meal for two ticked all the boxes. Only available til the 14th so go tonight. Additional bonus is free parking in Hyatt underground parkade.
Overpriced food and almost non existent service. Our server hardly acknowledged us and we seemed like an after thought even while we were paying. They did not deserve the tip they received. It wasnt even busy in the restaurant either so Im confused why the service (and food) was so bad. I ordered the waffles and they were not only overpriced but im pretty sure they were old too because they were extremely dry and crumbly. Im not a particularly picky eater but this is unacceptable. How do you mess up waffles?
I wrote a review yesterday, and I come back today and it has been deleted. Really??? This establishment needs to learn to be accountable for their advertising, service and execution, all of which they failed at during our reserved Sunday Brunch on Aug 15, 2021. *Hint* There is no Brunch, just a listing on the menu, with a staff who are either overworked, or just dont care. I see the owner is happy to reply to positive reviews, but not a peep on reviews expressing dissatisfaction. That says something, without saying anything....
Made reservations on Open Table 2 days before. Arrived and they were locked up. Spa service had to run around to get us help. We waited 15 mins before kitchen staff arrived to help us and told us they are closed on a Saturday morning at 11am.
Great time at brunch there on the patio last weekend.
Love the Sunday brunch!
Great tasting food. Love the new furnishings/renovations compared to back when I first visited. Service staff was friendly and I was well waited on. Price was a little high, but I think it was worth the quality.
Thomsons Social Hub has the best food! The steak bites are to die for. Love sitting on the patio on Stephen Ave!
Its always a pleasure taking the family to Thomsons. The service is top notch and the prices are very reasonable.
The staff was friendly and they were always there and ready when we needed them. The ambience was beautiful. The muscles we ordered were big and juicy!
Highly recommend the burgers.
Very hospitable and welcoming staff. The bartender, Tivell, is very knowledgeable with cocktails and Calgary as a whole. He was a warm host and knows the whole city inside out - we had a great chat, and I was glad to get to talk to a local. The hotel and restaurant had lovely Christmas decorations and the ambiance was warm, cozy and upscale. A great place for a business meeting, date, or travellers like myself.
Heard rave reviews from reputable sources. Seems expensive, but then again being forced into poverty and homelesness, everything is expensive. Becoming a Calgary landmark, on my list of restaurants to try if I gain my freedom.
Best breakfast in the city Very surprised with some of the reviews on here. Some people just don t appreciate great food. Thomson s has an amazing chef working back there with five star service up front. Irene was such a pleasure and really took care of us. We tried the eggs Benedict and the mushroom, spinach and goat feta cheese omelet and were so happy with the taste and portion. We ll definitely be back next time to try their dinner!
Was not impressed with the venue theyve turned the bar into a restaurant and its very spartan. Did the Theatre Calgary menu and after seeing it reverted to the regular briced menuu. Chicken was overdone and rice was underdobe. Will not be back
We just came back Thomsons for Valentines day. We used to really enjoy this restaurant and have enjoyed the Sunday brunch there - one of our favourites in all Alberta! Ive been to corporate events there and had really positive experiences. We thought it would great for Valentines. The entertainment was enjoyable. The drinks and appetizers were decent(pork belly and then some baked vegetables) my wife ordered the salmon and it was ok. I ordered the sirloin steak and it was easily one of the worst steaks Ive had in this province. It was cooked to medium rare but the steak was extremely tough. It came on a slice of toast with some fries. Ive had a better steak sandwich at a Husky truck stop for $13. We ordered the apple mouse dessert and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent presentation and excellent flavor. Really the only reason why the review is for 2 stars and not just one. Even worse was that no management came to the table to apologize for the experience or make any kind of amends. As such there were no gestures for the terrible main course. A small 10% discount, a complimentary dessert, any kind of gesture to indicate that they were interested in having us come back and come back for a more positive experience. NOT. A. SINGLE. THING. Read all of my other reviews they are almost all 4 and 5 star reviews. I am an enthusiastic, positive person and enjoy 99% of the places I go to. It saddens me to write this review because we have enjoyed Thomsons. It saddens me that the other half of the restaurant is closed down. I now understand why. This is not a restaurant you go to because you enjoy it. You go to this restaurant because it is convenient and serves food for the purpose of nourishment or sustenance and nothing more. We chose this restaurant wanting to enjoy it. We really did. We have good history. This is no more.
Went to Thomsons for brunch on a Sunday. Thomsons wasnt very busy (which I now understand why) but also still a bit understaffed and with service that reminded me a bit of a diner which doesnt really match the price and decor of the place. The food was really ordinary and I kept regretting recommending the place for an extended family outing after previously having a good Sunday buffet brunch experience years ago at the Thomson. One of us even had the Prime Rib today and it was like it was microwaved stuff from the night before. It was pretty confusing how ordinary the food generally was considering that it took an inordinate amount of time (considering how it wasnt very busy) for it to arrive. It was all just ok but ultimately disappointing as a Sunday Brunch experience.
Our experience with Thomsons Restaurant is always splendid. They created this beautiful cake for my child as a special request and it is far more beautiful than I could have ever expected. The food is great as well. Special thanks to Bruce and Serena for making my sons birthday so special.
Lounge and bar excellent. Bar food good.
Great food
Had Sunday brunch here, it was OK. Good service, but the brunch selections were kind of underwhelming.
Fabulous brunch. Second to none in Calgary. Terrific atmosphere, delicious food and a reasonable price.
Great food, great service!
Thomsons Restaurant (located inside the Hyatt Recency in downtown Calgary) is a top notch dining experience. I had breakfast there on Sunday and was absolutely floored by the variety of items. Scrambled eggs, French toast, sausage and bacon as well as a cold cereal bar and a bakery cabinet with muffins, bagels and croissants, a fresh fruit bar and pancakes/ waffles and omelettes made to order. My waitress came back to top up both my orange juice and coffee every 15 minutes or so without me having to flag her down. It may not be cheap to dine here, but the level of service matches the price tag. Bravo.
Soup was good. The grilled cheese lacked melted cheese and too much bread to cheese ratio.
Awesome buffet but if you dont want to pay 75 dollars for 2 people I wouldnt reccomend
Great burger to go with their beer.
With 17 people at the table for a Saturday breakfast, no one was impressed. Basically a 4-star breakfast with limited options - no pancakes, no French toast, no waffles, no yogurt - only basic items with an omelet station. Muffin was like glue on the inside - sticking to the roof of my mouth. Had to ask for jam, for coffee, for juice. Huge let down for many of us who in previous years enjoyed quite a deluxe breakfast with exemplary service. All that has vanished. Too pricey for what is likely a free breakfast with your room. Huge disappointment.
Came here on a sunny afternoon to take advantage of the south facing patio off of the Hyatt and since it is associated with the hotel prices for meals are a little bit higher than the other restaurants in the area. The food was good, service was efficient if a bit aloof, and the patio sunny. I dont think we would have picked this restaurant in the winter as the patio is the best feature but if youre at the hotel and looking for something close and convenient this might be for you.
Thomsons is trying to do higher end cuisine in a bar setting which didnt work. The original restaurant space is permanently closed. We had a reservation and were told to grab that table when we arrived. As was everyone else who arrived with a reservation. The bar was noisy and the tables were not comfortable to sit at. Our server was more professional, but ended up being very busy with all the tables assigned to her. Food wasnt too bad, but was already going cold by the time it reached us. Will not go back and would not recommend to friends. Being generous with 3 stars.
Fantastic food and service
I had the Sunday brunch here for the first time. It was fantastic. The spread was plentiful and I was extremely happy with the service. They had pastries, fruit, hot breakfast, dim sum, hot lunch type food, roast beef, and they will make waffles, eggs Benedict and omelettes on demand. It is $30 but I think worth it for a fancy brunch.
Wonderful restaurant located inside the Hyatt Regency Calgary. All ingredients used are fresh, the atmosphere relaxing, and the wait staff more than helpful to assist with any request or questions you may have on your food. May seem a bit higher than your average Bar and Grill but it is very much reflected in the quality of the food, freshness of the ingredients, and service of the staff. Even if youre in town for only one nights like me this is a must stop for breakfast.
Food good, price ok
Exceptional staff, service and food! We stopped in for lunch while looking at the venue for our company christmas party and were blown away. Never a disappointment
Gave me directions to get somewhere i needed to be
The restaurant has itself has been closed recently for renovations but he bar and patio have been open. The brunch is to die for and the patio will allow your dog to sit under the table. This time we went from work to say farewell to a colleague and our summer student. Luckily, we got there early since the Catholic Womens League arrived en mas after we had ordered our food. I dont know how they fared but our meals arrived without delay. I had the chicken club which is delicious since they use thighs not breast. But I do wish theyd take the skin off. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
Slow, poor service for lunch.
A great place to eat around the convention center. I had a great beef sandwich.
First alarm bell was that it took about 20 minutes to get a beer here... thought inside would be packed and staff running off their feet, nope not a soul inside and only about 10 customers on the patio. Menu is over priced and small portions. Food was not bad tasting, but terrible value. Also it took almost an hour for them to bring 3 chicken tacos and a tiny bowl of gnocchi. Do not recommend and would not go back. Maybe full dinner service is different. One beer and one appetizer was $23
Wonderful people... serving great food. Had the beef dip wrap. A great twist on a old favorite. If downtown this is the place to be.
They have a nice buffet brunch on Sundays. Staff are very nice and helpful too
The breakfast buffet here is ALWAYS an epic treat. From the bacon, to the hot fresh pancakes made to order everything here is enjoyable. The raspberry Danish is delightful , as are the little chia seed parfaits ! Super bonus, they validate your parking !!
Snacks and drinks with friends. Great spot!
Decent food. Service was fantastic.
I ve only ever been here for Sunday brunch but I assume the food the rest of the week is just as good. Brunch has all the brunch classics and then a whole lot more. The food is always fresh and very well prepared. The desserts after are AMAZING! If you want a Sunday weekend treat, give this place a try. As far as high end brunches go.... it s priced reasonably. Also... free underground parking. Just bring your ticket to brunch and they will validate it for you. .
I have eaten here several times...always fabulous!
31 of us descended on the Hyatt today for a staff brunch and it was a fabulous experience. Food was plentiful and fresh. Freshly made dishes such as eggs benedict, french toast and pancakes were brought directly to our tables. The staff were very flexible, accommodating and prepared to ensure that our experience was positive. Thank you for a great afternoon!
Went for a Sunday brunch. Good food selection, friendly staff and beautiful location.
Good food, great service. Atmosphere was enjoyable but it was a little pricy... But worth it
