What an amazing place. So enjoyed my food. Beat salad added shrimp, Calamari starters. My waiter Pearce/Pence lost the paper I wrote it down on. He really guided me through the menu. Espically since we had simaler allergies. Lamb slovaki amazing asked rare and it was perfect. Had for 2 breakfasts at the hotel and one lunch at home. Met a beautiful older couple who dine twice a month. She was celebrating her birthday. So nice. It was amazing to see the owners family (apparently 20+years same Family) having dinner together many generations. The owner checked in with all the tables which you dont see these days. So amazing. Some of the best food since moving from Toronto. Thank you and please open a location in Medicine Hat.

Restaurant is decorated nicely inside. We ordered the golden beet salad with shrimp and calamari salad. The food was delicious except the lettuce on the calamari salad was swimming in dressing so I didnt even eat it. Food was good, service was great.

Efficient, good service and tasty healthy meals

Food and portions were very good, no complaints, went on a Friday, every table was in use, plus lots of customers waiting for a table. Obviously they must have felt the same about this restaurant.

Went on a Saturday evening. Appetizers were good, entrees however were lacking. The garlic fries had no garlic. The lamb shank was quite under seasoned and the ribs were drastically over seasoned with what tasted like lemon pepper seasoning?? The service was good. Attentive, but not professional at all. While our server was dealing with us, another employee (or manager?) walked up and interrupted our server to give her some cash... that couldnt wait?? Not a lot of authentic Greek options on the menu either. Not sure we will return any time soon. Other Greek restaurants in the city have larger selections.

A group of managers decided we needed dinner out with good fun and great service so Broken Plate was suggested and we were not disappointed! Between us all I think we pretty much covered the whole menu, and the raspberry mojito was my fav! The only downfall of the entire experience was our disappointment we didnt get to smash plates, lol for some reason we thought we were able to there, and after a long day we were ready for it!

Calamari came out over cooked and I did not like the batter, chicken souvlaki dish the chicken was so dry, cabbage cranberry slaw was ok, greek salad was bland and tomatoes were mushy, waitress was unattentive, I would not return as I feel there are much better Greek resturants.

The food is consistently DELICIOUS , the service is top notch, with a lovely ambiance. The outdoor patio is very inviting too. Excellent for a date night or a nice family dinner out. Highly recommend.

Amazing!!! You must try Prawn and Santorini and their fresh cheesecake. But everything there tastes fresh and delicious. Service is always great. You can sit inside or outside and I like how the inside is decorates.

Food was delicious, service was really good. If it s your birthday they let you break a plate (2$ donation)! Only complaint is that some of the menu prices are a little high

My wife Deb and I had a great lunch on the patio last Tuesday. The weather was great and so was the food and service Its been several years that we have been in Calgary and am glad we came back and had lunch here. Food

It s an all round 5 star in my opinion. The food was awesome. We ordered the spanakopita, lentil soup, lamb shank, lemon fingerling potatoes and the rice pilaf and it was all cooked to great taste and perfection. But the most important thing was the service. Our server Jillian was absolutely amazing, had valuable recommendations for food and when I forgot to pick up my leftovers Jillian ran across the parking lot to make sure I have my leftovers. I was so grateful and appreciated such a great attention to detail and the service. Will 100% come back :) my partner and I loved everything about the restaurant

Great supper at this restaurant for a friend s birthday. Appetizers are a large size for sharing. Main course meal was also a generous portion. Unfortunately couldn t break a plate for a friend s birthday, because they ran out of plates earlier day. If this is something you are interested in, I would recommend asking at the beginning of dinner to arrange early.

This place was amazingggg!!! We ordered the beet salad, french fries, the mediterranean bowl and butternut squash and shrimp ravioli and the tzatziki on the side for the fries was delicious!!! The mediterranean bowl was actually phenomenal, the beet hummus included in it didnt taste too much like beets and was just super creamy. The food is amazing altogether and staff is super friendly and talkative. Decoration is also on point. Would totally come here again

The starter Dolmades was the best ever. Waiter Steve was friendly, knew when we need something. I had the seafood linguine. Perfect mixture and the sauce was just perfection. The chicken that was cooked to perfection with the sauce and lemon potatoes. We will be back. Best in Calgary Food

I spent a summer in Greece in 1977, touring all over. This is the most authentic Greek food i have found in Calgary. With the traditional blue and white decor found everywhere in Greece and on the Greek flag. The place is well lit, and quiet for good conversation, and not rushed . I practiced my Greek words and pronunciation with our wonderful server. Highly recommend the total Greek food and atmosphere experience! I high Parking: Take a cab

This is a go to spot for my husband and I, the food is good and staff are friendly. During our last visit the manager was very rude to our server and called them out at our table. I have worked in the hospitality industry before and thought this was very unprofessional.

My girlfriend and I visited broken plate for the first time last weekend for her birthday and we had a great time. The food was amazing! Especially the cheese they light on fire. The server/manager Arrisa went above and beyond for us and definitely made our time there memorable. We will definitely be back soon & will absolutely let my family and friends know about the great food and service. Thank you broken plate!

It was my first time ordering from them but let me tell you it won t be the last time! I ordered the Moussaka and it didn t disappoint! The taste was amazing

Great friendly service. The main courses were very good. One of the two appetizers was a bit overdone, but not a big issue. Will certainly go back. Atmosphere is nothing special, but wasnt expecting it to be.

The lamb was good, as was the risotto. But the rest is of our meal for 2 adults and 2 kids was not enjoyed, abs we typically love Greek! Over $150 for a mediocre meal, at best, a few dishes were inedible. Well never go back

We had our rehearsal dinner at Broken Plate last night, and the evening was perfect. The food and atmosphere are fantastic, we all really enjoyed the saganaki in particular!! The staff are really accommodating and quick, our server Larissa was amazing. Thank you to all the staff for making our evening so special!! 11/10!

Ridiculous restaurant for food delivery driver

We love Greek food but Id classify Broken Plate as fusion perhaps, not true Greek. We started with Saganaki - fun and delicious food - OPA! And the a couple of us had the lobster ravioli (it was nice but Ill try something different next time) and the other two ordered the short rib special (generous serving and tasty). My favourite dessert (Nutella and banana crepes) is off the menu so we shared something with chocolate. Its a nice spot in south Calgary.

Ive order my dinner through Skip the dishes. It wasnt first time and I really like the food. But this time I was shocked when I open ed the box. My order was Organic Chinook Salmon for 36$. What I received it was 3 giant carrots, some broccolini, rice and a little, tiny piece of salmon. It wasnt even a 100g (see the photo). I understand that all the prices are going up, but please, do not fool your clients. Rise the price for salmon, not cut on the size. It supposed to be dinner. If you cut the size of salmon to such tine portion, maybe mention in your menu, that it is 100 g (or even less after its cooked). Very disappointed.

Calamari salad was half the size of usual serving, salad veggies were not fresh. Not the calamari salad that I know and enjoyed... disappointed with my lunch today.

There is literally Nothing authentic about this place . Our server was decent and it seemed like she was actually the only one working. Little better than Opa. Don t waste your time if you are looking for a really good Greek restaurant.

Impressed!!! I have not been to Broken Plate in years. Menu has changed but its delicious! We went over Happy Hour and its worth it! Cocktails were amazing. Parking: Its in a strip mall. Plenty. Kid-friendliness: We brought our 3 kids. Aged: 13, 10, 5. All accommodated.

We come here regularly and we always have a great meal. Unfortunately tonight it was very disappointing. The service was subpar, and the food was underwhelming. The beef rib was dry and overcooked. The cod special had tasteless and watery risotto, and the cod was overcooked and dry. The pasta dish was over salted. We brought this to our servers attention and it felt like our concerns didnt really matter. This was evident as not one manager came over to discuss this. Perhaps they were training new staff in the kitchen, or the chef was having a bad day, but this is not the Broken Plate quality that we know and have come to enjoy over the years.

We hadn t been here for a few years, but felt that the quality of the food has gone down and no longer justifies the high prices. Our server was great though and they do have lots of dietary options, including gluten free and vegetarian.

Food was great and our server was great. However the hostess had very long hair, not tied up (which I thought was mandatory in food service), refilled our waters, then did a hair flip right beside our table, as loose hair fell off. Not sure where it landed, but theres a reason hair should be tied up.

Broken Plate is one of our favourite restos in YYC & definitely in our SE hood = we visit often for everyday lunches, special occasions and patio seating when the weather allows - and were never disappointed w/ the delicious, fresh and healthy food. We recently were there to celebrate our birthdays and were pleasantly surprised by the offer of dessert, gratis (I had the homemade Baklava w/ big scoop of salted caramel ice cream = so yum). This was a wonderful and generous gesture you dont often receive and it was well appreciated. For my main course, after sharing a platter of crisp calamari w/ my husband, I enjoyed the butternut squash ravioli w/ prawns = such a generous portion, and so delicious. My husband had the burger w/ homemade soup special (revadosoupa/Greek chickpeas soup) & declared it satisfying; my mother had the lamb platter, and declared it delicious too. We had lovely service, and overall fantastic experience. My one caveat, and suggestion on improving the atmosphere, would be to have Greek music soundtrack in the background vs their current pop/top40. Do that, and youd get full 5-star review.

My favorite place to go for lunch or dinner I dont need a special occasion to eat here. Everything I have ordered has been delicious and exceptionally cooked. Their Moussaka and lamb chops are my favorite dishes. While the soup is always prepared fresh and never disappoints in taste. My favorite soup has been the mushroom soup and squash soup, out of this world delicious, if you generally like mushroom soup.

Saganaki and lamb, what could go wrong? Have never been disappointed with broken plate, the best Greek food in Calgary by far!

Recently had lunch with my husband at broken plate, and the attention to detail for food was immaculate and impressive. Service was just as amazing; thank you Perci! I d like to give recognition to the chef as the meal had a great balance of flavours . Will be back; hopefully soon:)

Food was good but thats about it. The place was empty but we still had to wait at least 15 minutes for the wine to arrive. The place is supypose to be open till 10. However, we were asked to leave at 9:30. Heaters were shut down and they literally froze us out there! Do not recommend Food

If you ve been to Greece and crave some excellent Greek food this is your place. I lived on the Greek islands for many years and I fell in love with the food. This is the first restaurant in Canada I ve been to that tastes like the real thing. Bravo. I had the moussaka, calamari, cheese saganaki and baklava. Highly recommended

Absolutely excellent food and service

Broken Plate has a terrific atmosphere. Its a very nice authentic Greek resteraunt. The service was good. However, some of the dishes were a little sub par I had the butternut squash and shrimp ravioli and I have to say that it was excellent but the serving size was just a little too small.They could also have more vegetarian options. Vegetarian options: Very few vegetarian options.

Highly recommend this spot and wish I knew about it earlier!! Best Greek food, but also the best restaurant in Calgary in my opinion. Not only are the menu items lighter with healthier options but the ingredients are incredibly fresh and you can sense a lot of care goes into making each dish. Our server was incredibly kind and the atmosphere of the restaurant itself is warm, welcoming and family friendly. Will be coming back again and again :-)

The place was packed on a Thursday but the seating was intimate and spacious. The food and cocktails came out so fast I was pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious, especially the saganaki, I could eat it everyday! The wine, we decided on a Greek bottle because it was very unique but boy did it not disappoint! Props to our waiter with his excellent wine knowledge! Thank you for a wonderful belated Valentine s Day dinner!

There seemed to be lots of happy people inside enjoying there meals. Mine was spoiled by a raw inside but cooked well on the outside chicken dish. The kind of event that would indicate cooking it from frozen and not providing enough time to cook all the way through. Since raw chicken is not a dish I am comfortable eating I was not able to finish my meal. The restaurant waived the cost of the meal which is basically the best you can hope for given that it still already happened. Ideally more care should have, and could have, been given to the meal prep. It s this sort of rushing that makes me concerned for future visits.

Great please! We got moussaka with a greek salad, butternut squash and shrimp ravioli, and seafood linguine. Baklava and ice cream for dessert. Everything was just delicious!!! The atmosphere was so cozy and Christmas vibe was like the cherry on the top of a cake. It was my daughters birthday, and she wanted to go there and we were all very happy with the choice Thank you Broken Plate for making our evening so special!

Birthday dinner for three plus four others, seated promptly, drinks for the table and specials explained right away. Appetizers brought out quickly, followed by mains. All of the food was outstanding, as was the service. Highly recommended for anyone.

The ambience is pleasingly bright and comfortable enough. The food is average with prices a little higher than average, in my humble opinion. Ordered the beef short rib that was featured on special and it was good but not outstanding. The calamari appetizer was not to my taste, so found it lacking especially for $19. Perhaps, just my take on what calamari should be like, but I much prefer the calamari at Opa fast food. The mango sorbetto dessert was nice and priced competitively.

The ribs were inedible. There was way more fat than meat which I was highly disappointed in for the price. The chicken souvlaki was burnt as well as the potatoes it came with. The potatoes were completely inedible and we had to cut off all the burnt parts of the chicken to make it somewhat edible. We get Greek salad from a lot of places, to which we were not expecting to almost lose a tooth when we bit into the salad and the pits were still in the olives. Overall, we paid $75 and had to throw out almost our entire meals. We are extremely disappointed ad will likely not be back.

We visit as often as we can. Their food is fresh, incredibly fresh, and well prepared, very tasty. Koodos to the kitchen, and the chef. Love your work. If Calgary wants great restaurants, we need to visit as often as we can in order to support these establishments. Broken Plate is one at the top of this list. Go, you wont be disappointed.

The braised short ribs are to die for!

From the moment we walked in the atmosphere is welcoming and light, and the service was very helpful and kind. From the very first bite of food to the last had me smiling. It was light and flavourful and the portions were perfect allowing us to share a couple starters and a main and be content and full. The ingredients are fresh and real and the price is a very fair reflection of the care the folks here put into the preparation and cooking of each meal. Never before have I felt so good after such a big meal at a restaurant. Dietary restrictions: As someone with severe peanut allergies this was the first time at a restaurant I got to have an in house dessert and it was just terrific.

The flavours are incredible and the staff very professional. Great lunch all around.

Went here for the first time tonight, it was DELICIOUS. Definitely would go to this restaurant again, amd recommend to other people! The staff were amazing and polite, kept our water full (its hot out, gotta stay hydrated!).

Great place. The food was fantastic. We had hummus to start and braised Lamb .. so good, could have licked my plate clean. Server was prompt, patient, and attentive without being overbearing. Its not dripping with atmosphere or a heavy theme but its cozy without being crowded. The place was pretty busy and wasnt super loud. Great place for a date if you want to talk over a bottle of wine or some place to celebrate a special occasion. Well be back for sure. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options Parking: Parking can be busy right around the door but there is lots available just a little further down the corner Kid-friendliness: They have kids menu options (pasta or souvlaki. The souvlaki plate it pretty big still, so not a little kid option, but good value. Its not the kind of place to have crayons and coloring the menu though.

I enjoyed my experience. The lamb was delicious. Service was very good. I was hoping for the presentation of my meal to be more like it was at other Greek restaurants that I used to visit in Vancouver. It had but that is not to say this place isnt as good.

Excelent, I recomend this place

I had a lunch reservation there today (September 15, 2023) along with two others and the staff who asked for the details of our reservation made the point to ignore me and address the other person I was with (she was White, and the third person was on their way) almost as if to pass the message folks like me are not welcome at the restaurant. I am used to such treatment after living in Calgary for about 18 years, but didnt really expect it in a restaurant since they cater to the public. Truly, we were there for almost two hours and I was the only Black person there. Not insinuating anything, just saying it as it is. I also thought the food was overpriced and just plain regular. We had grilled octopus to share as a starter. It was two medium sized octopus tentacles on a bed of clams filled with lentils which was a bit of a disappointment at $24. I had lamb souvlaki as an entrée 2 sticks served with Greek fries ($26). The fries were good, the souvlaki, not particularly so for me just salty. The baklava cheese cake is quite good though. Sorry, for the overall experience, I wont be visiting again anytime soon - knowing of course I wont be missed either.

Large portions. Waitress Oksana recommended us dishes that were incredibly tasty. Cheese that is set on fire and chicken kebabs are super tasty. Thank you for the service and atmosphere.

Great place, delicious food!

Came to Broken Plate on Friday to celebrate my birthday and everything was excellent. Our food came quick and tasted delicious and they even offered a free dessert and let me break a plate, truly made it a special evening. Thanks to all the staff and a special shoutout to our server Kate who was very kind, efficient, and conversational.

All great. I had the moussaka, and the wonderful girlfriend had a chicken pita dish. Both were very tasty. Id recommend calling ahead for a reservation, as it was full on the Saturday we went.

Our family favourite is the zesty kopanisti spread with warm pita. We always add an extra order of pita when we get any of the dips. The lamb souvlaki plate is perfect for me to share with my toddler (great for takeout too) but its always hard to decide between that or a bunch or appetizers like the calamari or spanakopita. Cant lose! This is a go-to spot for my family and you can tell from the clientele that were not the only ones who feel that way. Its always packed with families, couples, double dates, and friends catching up. My husband was under the misguided belief that he doesnt like Greek food and now hes suggesting Broken Plate for dinner all the time. Kid-friendliness: Theyre always very kind to my child and the noise level is high enough that kid noise doesnt really impact the ambiance.

we visited on a sunday. Our party of eight had good full dinner. What baffled me is the Gratuity. We were charged 18%. We were not made aware of this additional cost which was more than one persons average bill. Thought that there should be some cap on gratuity.

Our waiter Percy was absolutely amazing! Service was attentive and friendly! Food was soooo good. Will definitely make this one of our favorite lunch spots to return to!

I have been multiple times and the service and food is always consistently great. I love the cheese appetizer (they light it on fire at the table). For a main I love the rack of lamb and mashed potato s or the lobster ravioli. Sometimes I get all 3! Always cooked perfectly! I will definitely be a repeat customer!

Fantastic. Had saganaki and lamb shoulder, rest of the table had various other dishes. The whole restaurant smells incredible when you walk in, and the food and service was outstanding. Its been many years since weve had a perfect dining experience such as this. Bravo.

I ordered lamb shank and they served me with a fat lamb shank bone. There was barely meat on that. I complained and they made a little discount but i returned home with an empty stomach.

The ambiance was wonderfully calming, complemented by great music and pleasant lighting. Each bite of the flavorful dishes was thoroughly enjoyed. The calamari starter, featuring a robust lemon flavor and accompanied by tzatziki sauce, was exceptionally good. For the main course, the lamb shoulder was perfectly cooked, served with a delicious sauce, mashed potatoes, and veggies. The baklava cheesecake provided a unique and delightful experience, showcasing creativity and a delicious taste. The service was outstanding, with attentive and caring staff. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience.

Yea super decent. Went for a friends bday dinner. Ordered the tzatziki and beet humus for apples. Really tasty. Got the special (beef short ribs, w/ mash and veggies) for dinner. Wife got the chicken souvlaki and said it was awesome! Nice and tender. Happy hour drink prices are good. Will def go again. *Update addition* I forgot to mention my friend, for her birthday, wanted to break a plate. Not only did she have the opportunity, but the restaurant wrote Happy Birthday Amanda on the plate and she had a great time throwing it against the floor.

Absolutely perfect experience! Broken Plate was an excellent surprise. We werent expecting such perfection on all aspects, from the intimate ambience to the amazing variety of delicious options. The dishes look beautiful and taste delicious, well be coming back many times!

Vegetarian options: There are a limited number of vegetarian options. They were quite willing to Male the butternut pasta dish without the shrimp so it was vegetarian. Food

To be honest the first time I was here the lamb chops were definitely 5 stars. Then my second time it was overly salted. Still pretty good though.

We went in for our work Christmas party and were 28 people. The service was spot on. Food was amazing. Highly recommend it.

food was decent, but service was sooo incredibly slow. went with my friend and we waited about 20 minutes to get the bill, and none of the other staff members seemed to care if we paid or not. I will not be coming back, not worth it for the price point.

I finally had the chance to come by to this wonderful restaurant for my best-friends birthday dinner and I can truly say that this is most likely one of the best experiences Ive ever had in Calgary! This beautiful restaurant had wonderful service with welcoming servers, exceptional food and unique experiences. We started off with the trio of spreads which included 3 fresh spreads made from complete fresh ingredients. Each spread had the most delicious + unique taste we have ever had. The Kefalotiri cheese was just as delicious along with our dinner which included lamb and a chicken souvlaki plate. For dessert we had the Baklava Cheesecake and our wonderful server went above and beyond to include a sparkler for the birthday celebration - this was beyond delicious. The drinks were perfect and each dish had fairly large portions. Every single item tried was incredible! To end our night, we had the opportunity to break plates which made our night even more special. We did not have a chance to meet the wonderful owner but we would sincerely like to thank the team at Broken Plate for such a phenomenal experience. You all should be VERY proud of yourselves for gifting this city one of the best Greek experiences anyone could ask for. 12/10 highly recommend.
