We attended our annual Christmas party at this location. The staff, food, and atmosphere were truly amazing. I definitely will recommend to all of my circle of friends.

I would like to give a massive thank you to Ali for organizing my a large family style dinner with my closest friends. I mixed up my dates, but he moved things around and fit my party in at the last minute. I will never forget this. The food was excellent - as it always is - and the service by Megan was efficient, courteous and friendly. I cannot say enough about my experience Mercato. All of my guests thoroughly enjoyed it. It was perfect. You made my milestone birthday one that I will never forget.

These prices are starting to become insane. We all know this industry has been gouging since Covid , but this is now some next level gouging. Sorry guys, your salads aren t worth $33. I believe you ve crossed the edge of what people justify value. You ll start to see a decline in customers next year - I promise you. Who was greedy enough to ruin a good thing?

Go elsewhere! It s clear these people don t want your business when you stand at check out for 10 minutes and no one even acknowledges you. I ended up putting my items back on the shelf and leaving.

Delicious food and always a great atmosphere! The services was a bit slower than I would have liked but it was quite busy and our waitress was very kind and acknowledged the delay which I appreciated. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and it was a beautiful time! Would definitely recommend for a date night or night out with friends/family!

Best place. You won t be disappointed!

Prices are getting out of hand! For basic, simple dishes and side dishes that are basically soulless, youre paying as if it contains the cure for Dementia. We are talking green beans here, sauteed green beans. Roasted chicken with basic flavour. Regular uncomplicated pasta. As a European I can comfortably say: Canadian gastronomy is tragic, uninspired, soulless and unjustifiably expensive. For a fraction of the price? Sure. But not this much: Its not enjoyable anymore. Im flying back to eat food with some heart and soul.

We came back after more than a year since our last visit and were very disappointed by the food. Expensive and overcooked. It felt like a decision has been made to improve margins by increasing prices and cutting costs. The huge volume of positive reviews means there is little incentive for improvement, so it s likely to stay that way. If you want better cooking, brave the wait list at DOP.

We brought our son to celebrate a big event. Unfortunately, although our server was apologetic, the food took forever to arrive! Despite asking twice what the hold up was, we waited over three quarters of an hour between each dish to arrive. Very disappointed. Lost our appetite. Only after stating we were going to leave without waiting for all the food to arrive did the last two dishes arrive. Food was average; nothing exceptional.

We had dinner with friends here tonight. It was delicious. Our waiter, Fabio was fantastic. So attentive and knowledgeable. He is what a server should be. It was fun being able to watch the chefs do their thing in the open kitchen. My only negative would be the chairs. We sat at the higher tables and the chairs were narrow and uncomfortable. My feet started falling asleep as the circulation was cut on my thighs.

I absolutely love the food here! The only drawback is that some diners tend to speak loudly, which can be distracting. Its the only thing that holds me back from fully enjoying the experience

Mercato has some of the best Italian food weve found in Calgary! We sampled a few different starters, mains, and a dessert, and it all accompanied each other perfectly and was delicious! Our server was amazing and we were so happy they were able to fit us in on a busy night! We cant wait to go back when the adjoining market is open to see what they have on offer.

I took home the Lasagna Manzo from the deli for supper. I have had this many times and is usually a solid choice. This time however the cheese did not seem to melt right or crisp up properly. The taste was horrible. The tomato sauce was bitter and tasted off and there was the flavour and smell of mold. It was disgusting. Very disappointing. Not sure I will ever get it again.

I have been here twice (only because I don t live in Calgary) or else I think I will always be here ..: some of the best meat in town can be found here the grills/steaks are a killer but what makes the experience stand out beyond food is the exceptional service.. highly recommend be it for a business meal or a great time with friends or family

Went there with a friend a few weeks ago super excited since I haven t seen her in a very long time. Sad to say, her and I were a bit disappointed with the food. Service was great and so was the atmosphere, it just would ve been nice if we didn t have overcooked Halibut, and a soupy gnocchi. Both were overpowered with the taste of garlic. Bruschetta wasn t bad but honestly wouldn t rate the food higher than 2 stars tbh. I had very high expectations for this restaurant and I m a big foodie so it s disappointing to have left the restaurant not wanting to go back.

Went here a couple times first time we went was amazing. Second time food was sub-par portions were cut back, the bruschetta trio had huge cut cherry tomatoes and very rustic lazy approach. It came with a white bean puree which was a weird addition. Overpriced for what it is.

our waitress, she was really rude and paying no attention. She could ve made our visit much more enjoyable. We waited 1 hr for single dish. I found this place to be very expensive the entertainment and the expertise of the chefs, moving in motion was unreal!

Great restaurant, but forget about sitting outside on the patio with the constant beeping of the crosswalk signals.

The food is mediocre. The service is bad. We waited for our order for one hour. When I asked why it was taking so long, the waiter did not respond.

The food was average, I have been there numerous times, and it was exceptional not sure why nothing tasted fresh.

Right as you enter your kindly greeted. The servers all know their food and wine extensively and give you the time to explain and recommend. The open kitchen provides for great atmosphere. And the food is next level. We always leave very satisfied and feeling like we are part of the family. Would recommend to anyone.

Amazing food, people and ambiance!

Mercato Mission was fabulous! I took my team there for lunch, and everything was excellent. The food was delicious, the service was very attentive without being distracting, and the timing was spot on, not rushed just a leisurely pace. I would highly recommend Mercato in Mission.

This is the first time this ever has happened to me! I m truly Very disappointed! As this is my favourite restaurant! But after tonight I will never go back and will also Encourage others not to go! I had dinner there tonight and made friends with the people sitting beside me, and we were having a great time. one of the staff came up to our tables and asked us to be quiet! If you haven t been there before, this place is very loud, so you have to speak loudly for others to hear. It was very embarrassing and way out of line, to be asked to keep quiet at a place like that was uncalled for. This will be my last time I ever go! I have been a regular until today. If you re going, I m sure you ll love the food but make sure you whisper or else the manger will tell you to keep it down! Still very shocked and hope one day they understand how they lost a loyal customer!

Went for lunch, 6 of us for a family get together and was disappointed at both the food and service. I ve had two meals here before but this time the pasta was under cooked, the portions got smaller and the waiter well not rude never really checked in on us and they missed preparing a plate we ordered (no they didn t charge for it). Sadly disappointed as we were looking forward to this expensive meal for a few days as it was planned in advance.

Went here during Lilac Fest with friends and family this year and the food and service was phenomenal. Our server Jamie gave us great wine and food recommendations which has inspired a trip to Italy! Summer patio is a dreamy spot and a must-go. Will go back again :)

Horrible service, host Isabella and Elena ignored me and assisted other people who walked in behind me. Empty restaurant but they kept telling people they were booked with reservations. Sat a child at the bar because all the tables were reserved. When I requested to speak with management, I was told they were in a meeting and to return in one hour. Upon my return, I was ignored until finally Isabella informed me that management would not be seeing anyone today. Completely unprofessional.

So much fun! The atmosphere is so living and exciting We only got in because there was a last minute cancellation. We ordered drinks and appies, mine was delish and the servers were very attentive but not over baring. I hadnt been there in years. I definitely will be going more frequently

Very nice food, and the waitress Michelle was a very wonderful server. Restaurant has nice decor and music. What you can hear of it is very idyllic for Italian based fine restaurants, but acoustics are horrible, and everyone speaks like they are trying to outdo each other. If you suffer from tinnitus, it is a poor atmosphere to be in. I hope to be able to go back again because the fare was great and staff was great. Thank you Mercato.

I had very high expectations about this restaurant but was kinda disappointed. I had seafood pasta, and clams tasted like they were not fresh, the waitress said that it might be just the saffron flavor so maybe it s just me. Desserts were mid, chocolate cake was dry and had nothing special about it just like the ice cream. One thing I really loved was tomato and mozzarella appetizer, great combination, very flavorful. After all I would come back to try something else, I m sure they have something worth trying.

So much good food, family style, perfect for our celebration. My only comment is it was quite loud to hear the conversation at the table but it was a busy Friday night! Food : 5/5

Very enjoyable group dinner

My go-to when in Calgary. Amazing wine and you can t go wrong with the menu. Always recommend sharing plates so you can experience all the dishes. Staff so knowledgeable and perfect for date night or business meeting

My colleagues and I had dinner at Mercato Mission for the first time and found the restaurant setting interesting with a warm ambiance. We ordered several appetizers, and for the main, we had two 25 oz ribeye steaks, which were grilled to our expectations and very tastey. The service was great as well.

Atmosphere is amazing and food also above expectations. Christine is amazing and she is very polite and knowledgeable about the food. service was amazing.

We had dinner with friends last Friday, and it was my first visit, so I was a bit excited about trying the food. However, the steamed mussels we ordered for an appetizer were totally undercooked. I should have known better when I took the first bite, and I thought it might just be their recipe, as did my partner. But as I tried the sauce, I tasted an overpowering fishiness that almost made me vomit. Half of the mussels were undercooked, and the rest were almost raw inside. We called the server over to explain what was happening, and later the manager came to our table, offering to waive the charge for the mussels. The manager claimed they receive fresh mussels every day, but considering were in the middle of the land, its hard to believe theyre fresh enough to be eaten raw. It completely ruined my appetite, and I dont know how I managed to finish the rest of the meal. As soon as I came home, I felt sick and threw up. Fortunately, we didnt get seriously sick, but it was pretty disappointing. I think the restaurant is a bit overrated. The server and manager were helpful and friendly, though. But the food was pretty subpar, considering the price of the meal. As you might have noticed from my history of reviews, Ive never given low ratings to any business, understanding the significant impact they can have. If Im not satisfied, I usually choose not to leave a review at all. However, this experience was quite unpleasant, and I feel the need to share it.

Always great food. I d recommend going with a small group to get the bistecca and some pasta varietals. Only negative comment is that the cocktails aren t that great.. Better stick with wine or the typical Negronis.

Excellent food. We typically order the octopus to start. It is sliced thinly and served with a garlic lemon sauce. You cant go wrong with any of their pasta options. We often share the bistecca as well. Side options of broccolini and potatoes are nice. Child friendly with booster chairs available.

Its almost been 18yrs the last time Ive been here. Memories of having the best Bistecca (steak)! Today we came in with the family for my wifes Bday and omg, everything tasted exactly like it was 18yrs ago!! The delicious steak, the mussels, gnocchi, and smashed potatoes.. just amazing! The best experience I can ask for! Super friendly service and warm atmosphere! Hopefully will return to try other wonderful dishes..

I finally went to Mercato after 6 months of living a block away, and I suspect it will be heavy in the rotation from now on. The atmosphere is great, I recommend sitting at the bar to watch the kitchen The food is fantastic, but service is quite slow - our server warned us off the top that our mains might take a while, so I appreciated the heads up. We tried the risotto and the bucatini, which were both great. Portion sizes are huge! So much better bang for your buck than a lot of places these days. Definitely recommend

I love coming here. Great location. Theres nearby street parking. The food is tasty and great for sharing. Caprese salad and burrata followed by Bistecca, Pappardelle and Mushrooms. Do it! And get some drinks. Youll have a good time.

Totally fabulous restaurant. Id not been here before, so first time experience and I think its now my favorite eatery in Calgary for authentic Italian food. Everything was A+, from the wonderful staff, right from the get go. The food was to die for, scrumptious and plenty of it. Only took a doggy bag because honestly, huge portions and just couldnt eat it all. Kid friendly too and our server was so tuned into our needs with a five year old...great place. It was too late to check out the grocery side but I will go in for sure....

Cannot express enough, how amazing this was family style dishes, impeccable service (including conversation and honesty) waters always full, the wine and beverages were delicious. Gnocchi, and chicken were the absolute best we ve ever had .hands down. Would recommend. Will return!

Wonderful establishment! Very cozy! Everything is fresh and tasty! The portions are large and filling! A wonderful combination of spices and revealing the flavors of the dishes. Im a huge foodie and love trying new restaurants. In my opinion this restaurant is one of the best in Calgary. Portion & the food is 5 stars. If youre looking for a place to try this place is a must! the vibes are fun and lively. I always tell my friends to go here as it truly is one of the best places Ive dined in. The only thing is I wish it was bigger so there is always room for walk-ins.

Professional and courteous service but the restaurant was filled with smoke. It was stuffy and smokey which made it uncomfortable. Our clothes and jackets smelled of smoke from the kitchen, worse than a poorly ventilated korean bbq restaurant.

They ask you when you book is it a special occasion. We write yes and what it is. Then you get there and nothing! No cake, tiny muffin, coffee nothing Why do you even ask then?? Need better ventilation! Very smoky while we are! Left with very watery sore eyes. And normal complaints there! Too loud. Food is very good! Broccoli over done but overall food is very tasty

We ordered Risotto , the featured pasta and sea food pasta. The risotto was bland and flat, no flavor just boiled rice. The pastas were extremely spicy, so much that we could not eat half of them. Very disappointed, Italian food is always flavorful and never extremely spicy/hot Parking: Good parking

Love Mercato for Italian. I highly recommend reserving the kitchen bar for a date night and share a few dishes. I literally dont think you can go wrong, there isnt a bad dish on the menu. This past visit went with the caprese for the appatiser, the Seafood Pasta on special was amazing and the lamb sirloin with a side of the mushrooms was a great way to set it all in. Some of the best lamb Ive had bar none. Got our dessert to go so they didnt have to roll us out of the restaurant and it was a huge portion when getting it to go! Parking: Theres a dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant, street parking isnt always easy in Mission.

Went with my co worker for lunch. Place was very clean and staff were very accommodating. Great ambiance and food was A+.

Lilac Festival and we got to see it that was quite surprising and especially on the patio. Ended up meeting quite a few people around the festival! There was three of us at my friend, ordered the octopus appetizer and the Barata trio appetizer, as well as the risotto! Plus a bottle of Italian Rose wine! Very well done! All was quite delicious !! Im sure the food is amazing based on all the other reviews, but we never got to taste any of it. We popped by on Friday evening and sat on one of the outdoor tables after consulting with someone inside about having our puppy with us. Waited for about 15 minutes before leaving and going to another restaurant on 4th that wanted our business. Saw three different servers run food and sit other people on the patio, none of them greeted us or even acknowledged that we were there. It was quite the disappointing experience from an establishment that is so well regarded.

Unfortunately, had a concerning experience. I am usually very careful, however the pesto Trapanese in the Caprese salad is made with almond paste. For diners with nut related allergies this is a problem. There was nothing mentioned on the menu nor did I ask. It made for a very quick end to the evening. still processing the next day.

It has been more than five years since our last visit to Mercato. We went to celebrate my husbands birthday and Mercato did not disappoint us. The polpo with Brussel sprouts was delicious. The lamb was medium rare and had a nice sear on it. The green beans were fresh and crisp. Every thing we had was superb! Complements to the chef and our waiter Tim. We will be back soon Nancy C

Really delicious food with pretty good portions. We had the steak, fish, octopus and the Cheese salad which was more than enough for 4 people. Food

Been going here for years but more recently (within the past year), I felt like the food has gone downhill. My usual favorite is the bistecca, but the last 3 times it came out overcooked and was so tough to eat. The last time I went I even asked the server for rare and it still came out overcooked. Kind of a disappointment for the price that you pay. If I were to go back, Id probably just order the other dishes such as the caprese salad, octopus and tagliatelle pasta.

If you are going there for conversation pick elsewhere as could not hear, acoustics terrible. The restaurant was only half full . Three people eating , each person s meal was delivered in ten minute increments as opposed to being all delivered at the same time . This is my second time there as wanted to give your restaurant another chance, unfortunately would still not recommend.

Overall I would say this is a gem restaurant, it s very traditional which is different. The food was good, and the quality is pleasant. My only concern is the service was not as expected. You can tell the servers made us feel low, and last priority and thought we were a nuisance for asking to sit outside, so wasn t exactly a warm welcome. Overall its questionable if I will come back here.

The pasta pappardelle was delicious but the rest was very average. Not recommend the Tiramisu there, its basically only white mascarpone with almost no other ingredients. The service was friendly.

Awesome food. They add lots of salt and garlic to everything, which wasnt any sort of issue for me. They accommodated allergies and made incredible options for our table to share. Will definitely go again. Dietary restrictions: Had great dairy free options for us.

Laziest service imaginable. Didn t bother to tell us any specials (overheard from another server after ordering). No quality checks until appetizer and pasta was eaten. Pasta was Unfathomably bland. Chicken main dish came out extremely dry. We were forced to sit and watch our server chat with other tables and meander around for ten minutes until we finally caught the eye of a hostess who took the chicken back. I m sure there are good waiters/waitresses here, but ours couldn t have cared less.

Haven t been so long almost over 15 years. Bistecca is juicy and the perfect half-size for 2. Our server was so friendly. We had a great time. One thing . The ceiling Air conditioning looks like they did not clean and are dusty. Small tiny dust comes from there

Both the service and the food was really bad. Pizza was very low quality. The waitress seemed really tired or careless. She didn t know the difference between red crushed pepper and regular black pepper. When I requested to bring crushed pepper she brought black crushed pepper to sprinkle on pizza. The funny and odd thing is that We couldn t order from the main restaurant since we chose to sit outside on a patio. We had to order from a different menu. Not recommended at all.

They have the best tiramisu! If you don t see it on the shelf, ask them! They usually have a stack in their kitchen. Mercato is also my go to place to get Italian ingredients.

It was an unparalleled dining experience at Mercato, and even my 4-year-old couldnt get enough of their dishes! Its rare to find a restaurant that perfects its niche so well. From their refreshing cocktails, sumptuous appetizers, to their main entrées, everything was impeccable. Highly recommend!

Went for our anniversary dinner last Saturday, service was great but the food was far from good. Ordered the steak and it was the toughest/chewiest steak ive had in ages! Very displeased, one of the most expensive steaks ive had but definitely a cheap cut! I dont mind paying premium prices for food but I expect that to show with the quality. Its not often we go out for fancy dinners so that was a let down and a waste of money. Higher expectations when it comes to Italian cuisine and fine dining of all kinds.

We arrived at the restaurant with an existing booking for a birthday. I do not recall if the booking through OpenTable identified the type of seating, but apparently they only had bar seats for us and a young lady after us asking for a table talked to her manager, Ali. Ali is a star! He is a great individual who is fun and very helpful. He arranged a small table for us and elevated our experience. Thank you, Ali. Mercato is very lucky to have you!

The service here was excellent. Our servers for the evening ensured that drinks were always topped off, food was cleared, great communication, etc. The food was pretty good. I found a lot of it to be a little bit more standard faire than I was expecting for the price, but you get large portions and no one at our table didnt have enough. The inside is very nice/clean but the high bar chairs are a little uncomfortable.

We absolutely love coming here. The staff is super accommodating and they know how to treat people.

Huge shout out to this restaurant for their exceptional service when we were there yesterday. It was recommended by local people not far and we decided to give it a chance. First we had no reservations and we were met by a tall gentleman named Mert? His service right off the get go was very professional and his communication was on par. He managed to get us a table even tho no reservations was made. Food was good so was the server. Upon leaving I asked that gentleman who I met at the front if he was the manager as his presentation was the most professional I have seen in a very long time. My family and myself eat out a lot I know good service when I come across it. The gentleman did say no he was not! I said he should be.

My favourite Italian restaurant in Calgary. Great wine selection, fresh seafood, and great steak (bistecca). If you can, reserve a seat at the bar to watch the chefs in the kitchen. FYI, Mercato is not a pizza restaurant.

Always a great experience. A favorite spot for traditional Italian trattoria dishes. Great service and consistent food quality. A little more of a premium venue so can be expensive but its worth it.

Like being surprised. Excellent service by Ashley. Very fresh and appetizing burrata antipasto served with olive, pepper, and pesto spread accompanied by grilled bread. Main dish shared with colleague was rigatoni with calabrese sausage in tomato sauce. Very good. Grazie mille. Expen$ive.

Wow. What an incredible experience. Perfect for groups of 4 or more as the dishes are family style. The Ribeye is melt in your mouth. The service is the best of the best. I will be back for future celebrations.

Great food there, sitting and watching the chefs cook is always fun to do. Nice assortment of food to share with friends when you go. For the most part, I have had exceptional service there except one time and the manager took care of it right away, I didnt even ask as he saw it, and addressed and made sure my next time there was enjoyable. If you like an assortment of things to try out, bring some friends there. Great Italian food to all try together. Can get a little loud in there depending on when you go, and reservations are recommended. Parking: There is some free parking behind the restaurant. Depending when you go, it can get full. There are plenty of street parking around the area. If you go after 6PM, street parking is free.

Went to Mercato with a girlfriend and had a relatively nice dinner, our server was very kind, the atmosphere was great. However, almost as soon as we departed, I began feeling sick and recall discussing that the pana cotta we got for dessert tasted a little funny. Neither of us were very well versed in the dessert itself, so we didn t think much of it. Over the course of the next 2 full days, I was sick to my stomach. I had actually never before had such bad food poisoning. I called the restaurant multiple times the following morning and left a message for the manager of the restaurant and received no call back. For a highly reviewed, relatively high end restaurant, I m thoroughly disappointed.

What a lunch we had at Mercato. Seriously good eats and a vibe that s chill yet on point. Staff? Professional and easy-going. This place is legit.

Food was delicious, my favs were the polpo, paradelle and bistecca. Server was attentive and friendly even though they seemed a little short staffed. I knocked off a star for atmosphere as it was a bit loud for my liking and the tables were really tightly situated. Overall, great experience and will definitely return again.

One of my favourite Italian restaurants (Im Italian so I dont say that lightly) authentic staff who also speak Italian and sauce that tastes just like Nonna made it. Highly recommend

Stuff were amazing. We were sitting in the kitchen bar so it was fun watching the chef cooking the food for us. Service was amazing. Food was great. But it was too crowded and food took a very long time to serve. It was so loud as well. Although they are in downtown but they do have visitors parking which is great. I would definitely visit again.
