The food is always so amazing best pasta Ive eaten in Calgary. I almost always get the boscaiola, the sauce is perfectly creamy and meaty, pairing perfectly with the pasta. The gnoccis are always delicious too. The portions at first dont look like a lot due to the sizes of the dishes, but then I almost can never finish my meal. The price to performance is quite excellent. The staff are always so friendly, always on it with the waters and answering any questions that come up. The atmosphere is fantastic, has a kind of hole in the wall vibe while also staying nice, feels like Im in a shop im Italy, and when theres an event its popping off with great music and vibes.

If you don t like a family run fun energetic place, high fives and great food, sure, this might not be for you. Go enjoy something more uptight and less delicious. Sucks to be you.

You must pay your friends to leave you good reviews. DISGUSTING, frozen garbage food and truly the worst service I have ever had to sit through. If I had to listen to you complain about your kids for one more minute, I was going to ask you to shut up. What a truly deplorable experience. As an Italian, your food is a freezer burnt, gross mess and an insult. If you didnt have such brutal service, your food wouldnt have made me as angry as it did. You ruined our evening and I should have thrown my money down the toilet. You have no idea how to run anything, let alone a restaurant. You should be ashamed of what you serve and how you treat clients.

What can you say, This place is an authentic piece of Italy in Calgary... Great owner puts his Heart in his place and a wonderful Staff majority if not all are from Italy and make you feel at home Such a great atmosphere as tho you time traveled to a Bar in Italy. Nestled in a great area of Calgary , not far from historical Bridgeland, Renfrew and Crescent Hieghts. Come for Coffee , or Drinks and Delicious Food with numerous items on his menu that treat your taste buds !!! A place you must experience! You can also book a party there its just all around Greatness a little Italian Gem right there on Edmonton Trail. Parking no problem , street parking and also a huge cheap city parking lot right next to it which is great for all seasons of Calgary to be parked close to the location. Great place to visit in Summer for sure , . Enjoy a Taste of Calabria with some Napoli accents , Even come and catch some sports on his multiple tvs , big soccer events are always televised as are other sports Parking: Street parking on Edmonton Trail which is paid or free after 6pm... Also a city lot right by the front door to SS106 , which is dirt cheap !!!!!

We had an absolutely perfect evening for 18 last night. The staff were extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. The food very authentic and oh so yummy!! Highly recommend this establishment and thank you Yvette, Domenico and the rest of the staff for making this such a special evening.

Do not judge a book by its cover. Does not look like much from the outside, but the food is tremendous as is the service. Met the owner. Great guy. Super friendly. TV s for sports. Good crowd. We got a salami pizza and they cooked it exactly as we asked. It was great. Also got a pasta dish that I cannot pronounce, but it started with a B . Also tremendous. Would definitely go back if we get back to Calgary.

Terrible food, terrible service. Grimy restaurant, overpriced frozen-tasting food featuring the most anemic calamari I ve ever seen and flavorless pasta and completely inept service. Don t waste your money or time.

Go to Pizza Culture instead. Service here was authentically Italian, they weren t concerned with us even a bit; the waiter was too busy flirting with a divorcé who had travelled to Italy years ago. The staff all seemed Italian but I d be surprised if any of them had worked in a restaurant back home. Prices are insane for what the place is. Food was meh, pretty sure they re just using bacon in the carbonara, and I had a lactose intolerant reaction to it, so they re not using aged cheese. $20 for an Aperol spritz that s all ice, and $30 for a charcuterie board we could have made at Co-op. They ve got zero sound absorbing materials in a small dining room, so we could hear every conversation in the room the entire time; there were only 4 tables but it was hard to hear my wife, so we just didn t talk much, but I got to know many stranger s lives more than I d ever need to. They have a back patio but it looks like it s just used for storage, they ve got a front patio, but it s on the Edmonton Trail sidewalk, staring into the sun. The vibe seems like the staff are 100% men who couldn t be bothered to consider an ambiance might be nice. Charging prices like these, you can hire a decorator. My wife and I have spent the last couple winters in Europe; we stuffed our faces for two weeks in Rome this February, some of the best food of our lives, so we re trying to find anything similar here. Even with much lower expectations, we ve been pretty disappointed at how crummy a restaurant can be and still get a 4.7 rating, thus how low our standards are here. All y all s rating this place 5.0 need to get out of the country and go eat some real food from time to time, then we might raise the bar and get some competition for better restaurants here.

Wow, this place was awesome! I love that most of the patrons were speaking Italian. We got there just as a World Cup game ended, so it was FESTIVE! The service was amazing - so friendly and genuine. The food was good - probably not the best youve ever had, but still, its well worth it. This place is a hidden gem, check it out!

My first visit was excellent. The staff were very attentive and so friendly. Its a great atmosphere, the food is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. They have great cocktails, and a few amari that I havent seen on offer at other restaurants. Highly recommended. Kid-friendliness: Food is quick, and its a relaxed atmosphere. Great for kids and adults alike.

Exceptional!!! This place reminded me a small town taverna somewhere in Siena with bunch of local friendly people. Food was amazing, stuff is super friendly . The way the plate are presented it s an another level. I ve been to a lot of restaurants and can confidently say this is a high level in everything. authentic Italian experience

Great food and great service. The Gnocchi is incredible. One of the best restaurants in Renfrew. Sorella is probably the nearest Italian competitor and although it is a bit more fancy, I would recommend SS106 over it. The ambience makes you feel like you re in a little cafe/bar in Italy.

This place is such a hidden gem!!! Phenomenal service, amazing cocktails and their food is absolute perfection. I cannot recommend this place enough. The freshness, care and quality is apparent in every bite and sip. Highly recommend, and the fungi gnocchi is a must!

Amazing food and cocktails, warm service, and great prices!

Both times satisfying. The carbonara was nicely done the right with eggs, guanciale, pecorino and black pepper. The zucchini/pancetta was al dente perfect and yummy. Service was casual and friendly. The place is a bar/restaurant with great Italian cuisine and apparently quite social in the evenings.

It was a perfect, warm and intimate experience. Will be back soon!!

We go here annually for a company dinner. The food and service are always excellent. Great atmosphere. I always roll out of there feeling very satisfied.

Had an absolutely wonderful meal here with my toddler and wife for a date night . I worried the place was too intimate for a kid, but they not only accommodated us but bent over backwards to make us all comfortable, doting on our daughter, and keeping up the service and attention. Food was authentic and delicious, wine list is full of incredible value gems and the atmosphere is casual but comfy. I definitely recommend. Would be a great spot to watch a soccer game as well.

Half way through my drink I realized there was lipstick on my glass which wasn t mine. They did take the drink off the bill. Food was average and our server lacked any sort of personality.

The food is amazing, the Arancini is fantastic, and the service is second to none. None of the not my table attitude that you get at some restaurants. If a dirty plate needed to be cleared or your drink looked low there was always someone who noticed and took care of it. Even when there is a huge party/table taking up half the place, they make sure no one is underserved. My only wish is that they put some sound dampening on ceiling and walls, the place gets LOUD!! Like cant here the person across the table loud.

Walked into this little gem not expecting their pop up Mexican seafood night on Sunday, and it ended up being such a great surprise! The owner personally welcomed us in and was very accommodating. Excellent food and a great experience. We re excited to come back to try the Italian food next time. Will certainly be back for sure!

This lil Italian gem is a hotspot in Crescent Heights Super affordable. Delicious food , family owned and operated. I say add a couple of karaoke nights and live entertainment....on the weekends.... :)

I ve been here a handful of times and it s seriously so great! Last night, they hosted/catered a dinner for a friends birthday had 34 people slam them (along with a few other tables of customers) and they were AMAZING!! They hustled hard to make sure the group had a memorable night! The food, drinks and service was unparalleled. Couldn t recommend this place more.

We ordered way too much food. Calamari could have been crisper. Meatballs (salsiccia) were tasty. Gorgonzola rice balls (arancini) were awesome with a creamy Mushroom Sauce. I would have been happy just eating those! Had to take the salad home as we were too full. A little noisy but good service.

Accidentally stumbled upon this gem and sooooo happy we did! Great drink menu where we were able to find pisco on a menu! Had the pizza and carbonara and did not disappoint. Thank you for the delicious food and vibes!

Took us in at 11:00 when they were going to close at 11:30, from what I was told the owner himself preppared the food for us to make our night complete. First time here, and I love the concept. Came to celebrate our anniversary, and we will come back. To me, this is a cool weather restaurant as it is not air-conditioned with an open overhead door to the patio. (Sorry I dont do well in the heat so its just me)

Its a hidden gem, the place is a bit understated for what you get but every recommendation from either of the servers was an absolute banger from the kitchen. They easily accommodated some dietary restrictions. I cant think of a place that truly surprised me as much as this one did. Absolutely a gem, grazie mille.

We came as a group of 4 for my partner s birthday. Upon first walking in the restaurant looked small and unassuming, but it was jam-packed on a Sunday evening. Our Spritzes were amazing, as were the Arancini Balls. The Calamari was tasty but a bit too rubbery. We each got a different pasta dish for our entrees, and I think we all agreed at the Gnocchi Ai Funghi was the winner - the gnocchi was so fresh, and the Gorgonzola sauce with mushrooms was to die for. After adding a bottle of red wine, dessert and Espresso Martinis to finish, we had ourselves a lovely evening!

It was average. They had a party going on so its understandable. The food was average. Ordered the Gnocchi al Funghi but was a very salty so had to send it back. They offered to replace with the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina. It was good. A bit on the sour side. And I felt that may be another type of pasta would have been a better match with the sauce. We also ordered the Crostini. They used the same sauce as Gnocchi al Funghi so the sauce was salty. But it worked okay with the bread. We also ordered the Shirley Fresco which was delicious and very refreshing. The service was good. I understand they had their hands full with the private party. May be on another day wed have had a better food experience. Overall tho it was okay.

The service was amazing. I had fungi gnocchi, and it was out of the world. I have never tasted a gnocchi, that good I did not find it salty maybe some day they might have made it salty and so it made it to the reviews. but the time that I ate it, oh ho everything was perfect. Absolute gem

The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. Tastes authentic and home cooked with lots of flavour. Staff was welcoming and very friendly. Restaurant got a bit loud, but it seems to attract a lot of local Italians, which I take as a good sign.

Amazing place! I m from Montreal and from an Italian heritage and this is the closest thing to the fun Italian Montreal restaurant/bar in Calgary . Dominic and the whole staff are Italian and provided amazing service. Highly recommend and I ll be going back over and over and over.

SS106 Aperitivo Bar is one of these places that you just have to know exists. It is not loud, it sounds Italian but does not have the typical red white and green colours or checkered red and white tablecloths. The name SS106 is a reference to Strada statale 106 Jonica, an Italian state highway which extends for 491 km from Reggio Calabria to Taranto, covering the whole coast Jonica in Calabria, Basilicata and parts of Apulia. The owners family is from Calabria. Upon entering, we were greeted by Francisco, a man from Calabria, of course. After having a negroni and Aperol spritzer and martinis with a charcuterie appetizer, Francisco guided us through the menu options. We all had pasta. Gnocchi ai funghi, amatriciana, calamarata alla pescatore and for myself, a plate of pasta putanesca. Putanesca, by the way, was not on the menu, but the chef had the ingredients and told Francisco that he could make such a dish. Everyone including myself cleaned up our plates. I very much enjoyed my putanesca, it had plenty of black olives, capers and just the right amount of anchovies. The pasta was perfectly cooked, a pleasure to eat. We concluded our dinner with a tiramisu, which we shared. It was generous, light and tasty. A restaurant is, first and foremost about food and service. On those two most important aspects, SS106 gets full marks. Well done!

This is a highly functional sink to pee in. No frills, but an excellently mysterious jug of something beside it, adding to the exotic mystique. Would pee again!

We had 2 tours in Italy with the Navy and loved the food. Enjoyed speaking with the owner from Calabria--not far from where we lived. A fun place with great appetizers and wonderful pasta dishes.

A little True Taste of Southern Italy. Food was Awesome as we ordered the Antipasto, Calamari, Veal & Fusili Arabiata which was made In house. You can taste the freshness which each bite. Great food, drinks and a very fun atmosphere.

This review is after 2 separate visits. The good: arancini balls. The bad: service is atrocious ie. servers spend more time on their phone than paying attention to guests, doesnt know the menu, doesnt care if you get the wrong item. Food is not particularly memorable given the price. The ambiance is so weird and disjointed. I feel like Im in a high school boys dingy bedroom. Really disappointed that this is the caliber of restaurant we have in Crescent Heights. Do not recommend!

Good food good value

Absolutely the best food, cocktails and service in an Italian restaurant Ive ever had. Dom, one of the owners, is a gem and you can see the pride he takes in his business carry through to every detail in the place. Ive eaten here many times in the last five years and theyve also catered a charity dinner I was involved with organizing and the guests all had nothing but positive comments on everything SS106 had made for them. Theres a reason they won the 2020 Consumer Choice Award for Best Italian Restaurant in YYC, and why I think they should win it for every year theyve been in operation --- theyre absolutely fantastic.

Service was friendly, if a bit air-headed. The drinks were OK, but kind of bland. The food wasnt...great. The prosciutto and cheese on our board tasted old and stale. The gnocchi was genuinely some of the worst Ive had. Less pillowy soft, and more just stodgy mush with absolutely no bite to it. We were left disappointed, especially for the price. And feeling rather bloated and uncomfortable after that gnocchi!

What a wonderful place As an Italian, I have finally found an authentic and highly quality food too many fake fancy places selling Italian dishes around that are far from being authentic and good quality ingredients! Here you get all the excellence of Italian food, kind and fun people, good real Italian cocktails and a very warmth place!!!!

Not sure why the rating is so high since we didn t find the food outstanding. In fact the calamari was not fresh, undercooked and came out super fast, and Gnocchi was too salty. Service was good and paid parking available.

Our pastas and veal were very tasty but the tiramasu was to die for. Also the price of our orders were better than most other restaurants. Service was spot on. Definitely will be back.

Good atmosphere, great little spot. Service was really good and so was the coffee. Food wasnt great and for that reason I wont be going back.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night at 630pm - when we arrived we were the only ones but it quickly picked up. We sat on the patio and had appies and drinks. The antipasto was great - really good value for the cost. They could price their wine list higher, was a very reasonably priced list. Will come back to try some pasta next time!

This place makes me want to grab a blanket and sit on the deck drinking and eating all day and night. Truly comforting to be here. The margarita pizza was crisp, light and the sauce was zesty. The gnocchi had a sauce that was creamy and full of mushroom flavour. The tiriamisu was a cloud of whipped cream, chocolate and coffee, authentic in the most flattering way. Get in there.

This restaurant was amazing! 100000000% recommend. Delicious, great and timely service, and a beautiful atmosphere. It was absolutely delectable. I never like mushrooms and the gnocchi funghi was unreal!

The owner is very friendly and down to earth guy, the atmosphere is very welcoming and has an overall good vibe! This is the best Italian food I have ever had, great portion sizes and everything is very fresh. I honestly cannot recommend that everyone try this place enough.

Really nice people and italian vibe.

I love this place so much, this is the first place where I ate real Italian food and it did not disappoint to the slightest. The pizza was light, crispy, straight up bomb. Everything was so fresh, the staff are super friendly, they make you feel like your at home they really treat you right.
