Fortuna's Row offers contemporary Latin American cuisine in an elegant setting. A taste of authenticity situated on Calgary's downtown river front, Fortuna's Row is a space where people gather and enjoy genuine experiences over food and drink.
Our experience at the restaurant was outstanding! My family truly enjoyed the delicious food, impeccable service, and inviting ambiance. We mentioned that my daughter, who has autism, is sensitive to sounds, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us by moving our table to a quieter, enclosed section. This gesture made our evening so much more enjoyable. Our server was incredibly kind, and the foods were scrumptious—especially the empanadas and Gobernador, which were the best we’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend this place for a memorable dining experience!
We discovered a truly delightful restaurant that exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was exceptional, with staff offering thoughtful recommendations. Our meal began with Jasmine tea, which unfortunately was a misstep. The tea was overwhelmingly strong and bitter, rendering it nearly undrinkable. We found ourselves unable to finish the pot, a disappointing start to our otherwise fantastic meal. The Pincho appetizer was much better. Featuring tender, high-quality beef and delightfully crispy toppings. Our main course, the Pollo, was a standout dish. The chicken was expertly cooked and generously seasoned, complemented by delicious pineapple and warm corn tortillas. Our only minor criticism was the tortilla portion, given the abundance of toppings, we found ourselves wishing for more tortillas to fully enjoy the dish. The true star of the evening was undoubtedly the Tres Leches dessert.A dense, amazing cake surrounded by evaporated milk, it was simply extraordinary. We would return to the restaurant for this dessert alone, it was that impressive. Considering the overall food quality and reasonable price point, we would return to this restaurant, minus the Jasmine tea.
Would go for the atmosphere, not the food. The restaurant itself is decorated very nicely, and gives a great setting for a nice date/evening out. However, the food is not amazing, and the service is subpar. The pincho was the only dish I would consider getting again, but all the food came out lukewarm/cold. Very disappointing considering how much you spend on the food. Would not go again.
This place gets great reviews so we thought we’d give it a try. Altogether we spent almost $200 for 2 people and went home hungry and disappointed. Although it has its own parking lot, the lot was overflowing so you end up parking on the road or haphazardly on the side. Note the greeter told us Brown’s does tow cars parked in their section even at night on weekdays. You’re safe on weekends though. The gravel and slope make the lot tough to walk in if you’re wearing heels. Pros: The ambience and the decor is great. Loved the vibe so really wanted to like this place. The drink mixes were tasty and the tres leches dessert was large, shareable, and pretty good. Cons: The prices are high, the food is not tasty and pretty meh at best, and the portions are tiny. The pork shoulder was marketed as a shareable, consisted of 5 slices, and was over 50% fat. The scallops were tiny. Love the space, but note that the acoustics of the warehouse make it pretty noisy, so not a place for a quiet romantic evening if that’s what you’re looking for. In the end, we paid a lot of money only to go home hungry. Also noticed that the restaurant owner seems fairly unprofessional in their responses to other reviews so hoping we don’t get a poor response to our honest feedback.
Elicia absolutely made our experience. It was my second time dining at Fortuna’s, as I am visiting town for a work conference and I was blown away particularly by our service. My job entails training for a multitude of restaurants and Elicia executed everything with an immense level of finesse, knowledge and hospitality. She made great recommendations and had the perfect level of playful and professional service. I highly recommend asking for her section. Food wise I particularly enjoyed the Bunuelo, great flavour and the gooseberries added a lovely freshness to such a traditionally rich dish. Shrimp and Grits was a close second with a comforting mesquite flavour. The dessert was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. Thank you Elicia for being so lovely, especially with us coming closer to closing time!
WOW! What a cool and lovely place! The atmosphere is like none else. So unique, open, rustic and modern all in one place. Their menu was amazing. Simple but such a diversity of pallets, plats, textures, etc.. I personally had the Huevo ranchos- and I would come back just for that. My friend got the French toast. They also have pasteries you can get to go! Their drinks are cocktails are unique to them. I was absolutely blown away at my cocktail (I forget the name”. But wow overall - 10/10. It’s awesome for a brunch or for some cocktails.
Overpriced. Food was mid. Not worth the presentation. We were a 8 party and we reserved as well. It was around $80 each person. Nothing about HAVING to order the course was mentioned at all until we were there. Since we had a bigger group we were UNABLE to order separate items. Which in my opinion is absurd. Only come here for intimate occasions. The food started off okay with bread and was the best part of the course. Food was very much underwhelming. Flavours were nice AT TIMES, sometimes it clashed. And I consider myself an adventurous palate. The empanadas were good. But there was only 4 and were a party of 8. Just take a look at the pictures. On top of being disappointed we had to wait very long in between courses with clean plates. (15-20 mins) Since it was a shareable course, we were not able to enjoy the full experience as one of us had a severe allergy. Only one of the desserts were enjoyable. Overall underwhelming for the price. The place was aesthetic, the service was slow and waiters were nice. I was very disappointed and underwhelmed.
Food had good presentation and was good. Pork was salty. We were sat next to other tables after asking for a quiet one, and there were 3 empty tables but the hostess said they were reserved (I also made the reservation a month in advance) and nobody was assigned those quieter tables for the 2 hours that we were on the restaurant. Our server was very knowledgeable on the drinks and food.
Elaine was amazing at our work event. Give her a raise
I was introduced to this place by a local expert restaurant aficionado! We met here for a business dinner. Our server was extremely super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The restaurant vibe is very cool and everything is clean and orderly. The bar is loaded with a wide range of eclectic spirits along with the old faithfuls. The food is simply as good as it gets. Tomahawk Steak and Duck dish was elevated to an amazing standard. I strongly recommend this place.
The restaurant delivers an elegant ambiance and attentive service, ideal for a refined evening. However, the cuisine lacks precision and salt lol, falling short of expectations given the price, making a return visit unlikely despite its atmospheric appeal.
What a great place!! Loved it!
I had wanted to eat at Fortunas Row for a few months. We ended up going on a Saturday evening at 7:30pm. Let me say, the service was great, and the setting is very nice - albeit the restaurant is quite noisy. We started with some drinks and appetizers. I ordered a Pisco cocktail, and my guest had a mocktail that was made with Chicha Morada. Having spent many years in Peru, the Pisco cocktail wasnt very flavorful. the Mocktail, while not having a lot of Chicha Morada was refreshing. It would be great in the summer. The appetizers we selected were the Empanadas and Cameron Encocado. The empanadas were pretty basic - they were just ok. They would benefit greatly with some spice - even a spicier sauce to accompany them would have made all the difference. The Prawns with coconut sauce (Cameron Encocado) dish was very tasty, and we would definitely order again. For our main, we shared the Pollo. This is essentially a build your own soft taco kit with a seasoned, sliced chicken with pineapple and a vegetable slaw. This was by far the most disappointing dish of the night. The chicken was marinated/basted with a reddish sauce. However, there really wasnt any flavour. Again, drawing on my experiences with similar dishes is latin america, it needed some spice. The pineapple also had a strange metallic taste. Unfortunately, it just wasnt a great experience. Maybe we just selected the wrong dishes. But, hopefully the team can change up the menu and add some flavour to these dishes.
Gorgeous Place for an Event, But it s difficult to enjoy a meal with more than 6 friends at a time I ve been here a few times now, and the food is underwhelming at best. I ve been here for dinner and events- Great place to host your event but not so great to sit with more than 6 friends. Personally, I find family styled set menus aren t as worth it as a customer than it is for the restaurant. The food isn t well proportioned compared to the guests in the party, they re not really sharable and the dietary restrictions of people make agreeing to a set menu incredibly difficult. The food is way better when you order individually!! It may be more difficult on the servers or kitchen, but restaurants have been doing it for years with success Plus the service wasn t great, meals came out a weird times where half the table was eating before the other, drinks were not delivered before meals and overall it would be nice to avoid the set menu! I want to visit and have raving reviews like the first time I tried Fortuna s! Dietary restrictions: Not great if you have restrictions when dining with the set menu
I ve been twice to fortuna s row - each time doing their set meal options. Brought a group of 14 people this time, and everything was fantastic. Excellent food, many new flavours and curious creations. Ambiance and service was perfect. Both times I was surprised by how high this restaurant punched above its class I had mentioned. I was mistaken, it s just a top notch spot. Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: Made great dairy free options for a friend with us.
Food is good, a bit on the saltier side, so make sure to order some plain sides that can match with the saltiness of the dishes. Really enjoyed their sharing plate called Pollo and their Empanada was delicious. The cocktails here are good amd creative. It can be a bit loud inside especially during busy hours, hard hearing what the person next to me was saying.
Great service. Beautiful open space. Lack of lighting made it impossible to read the menus. We weren t the only ones pulling out cell phones. Bit on the noisy side. Nice vibe. Sharing plates were good but not amazing. The avocado and steak small plates were stellar. Cocktails were super tasty. Parking: Small lot. Paid parking around on the street
Everything was super delicious & the cocktails are hella good
Food was incredible, service was excellent and the interior is stunning. However, for the price the portions were tiny. Instead of ordering more food, we left and still were able to have nearly full meals at a local bar. Glad we went but won t be back for dinner. May come back someday to try out the brunch as it looks tasty.
We did brunch here. The pastries exceeded the considerable hype. First time in during the day and its probably one of the best, non-concorde owned, rooms in the city.
I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Fortuna s Row. The most perfect place for every occasion. Love love
Meat with foul smell/taste. The meat in the photo is supposed to be veal. I would drive the other direction if I saw the Furtuna s Row name ever again. Went there for a brunch and was watching the guy working in the kitchen with plastic gloves. He was basically touching everything from carrying garbage bins, using the fryers, putting salt on the food, mixing a salad, chopping onions, wiping the counter, etc and never changed the gloves or rinsed his hands. Then I saw him pour a hot boiling liquid of orange stuff from a pot into a plastic blender which was still steaming and then carried it to the back. Then he brought another plastic container and poured some more stuff into there. Anyways if you like unsanitary food and micro-plastic from melted plastic in your body then go here. Also my veal flank steak was smelling like it was half rotten with a bitter taste. It didn t look like anything in the pictures from other reviews. The potatoes were also refried and not fresh. I counted ten pieces of potatoes and a quarter of an avocado (inflation I guess). Some guy in the back of their kitchen must be counting all the pennies they save. I sent it back and they took it off the bill after the waitress gave me some kind of stairing contest. These people don t have any clue how to prepare food and probably have zero culinary education. Avoid this place if you care about your health.
Amazing cocktails, great service, perfect place for sharing dishes and the staff are fantastic with their recommendations
Really disappointed in the restrictions that you cannot order your own meal in group of 7 . This is easily manageable and not policy at establishments that can manage their kitchen.
Loved the ambience of the restaurant, very cozy. The food however wasn t that great to me. I think I had higher expectations. The nice thing g is you could share them due to the portion sizing. Always good to try something different.
An amazing experience - Lia was a great help in planning our event! The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic flavors. The venue itself is unique and beautifully decorated. The service was great, with attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend for personal dining or private corporate event (we held ours in the SRO - Standing Room Only Bar).
A fantastic place for an intimate dinner. We had a birthday here last night and it was all of our first times here - what an experience. The set menu was absolutely delicious. The dishes were very wide ranging in flavour and each one added a chapter to what turned out to be a wonderful food-story. The street corn, tres leches and pork were my personal favorites. Even better than the food was the service. Arielle was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and was not afraid to make recommendations for what drink would go with what course. The wait staff and Arielle thoroughly explained the menu as it was served to us. It is quite obvious that the management, kitchen and front of house have very high standards here and are well deserving of 5 stars. We will absolutely be back and have already mentioned this place to a few people since last night. Thank you so much for a truly memorable night.
The atmosphere was beautiful and calming . The food was absolutely outstanding! I cant wait to go back and try more.
What a beautiful space! Excellent service and ambiance. We had the tostada, calamar, and pollo. The tostada felt under seasoned to me, it was still a refreshing dish but I wouldnt order it again. Caramar was very tasty. Loved the arroz and chimi churri. However, felt as though it should have been advertised more as chorizo as there was not much squid compared. Pollo was beautifully plated and the tortillas were fantastic. I felt like the chicken was a tad bland but the nice Verde sauce was a great addition. Wouldve been nice to have one more option for garish besides the pineapple and cauliflower. Felt as though the food was overpriced as Ive had similar caliber food elsewhere in the city for a more reasonable price. That said, very enjoyable experience, and would go again for a special occasion.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and come back.
Great dining experience, one of the best in town. A lot of fine dining restaurants have food that you could make it yourself at home with a little effort, but not here. Lots of rare ingredients and mixtures of different textures and flavours. The ceviche and duck were our favourites. Really a memorable dining experience. Very accommodating staff and love the ambience. Dietary restrictions: Really well displayed dietary restrictions.
I quite like the food, especially the barbecued beef thingy. The rest of my party thought it was meh. We all agreed it was pretty expensive for the amount provided. $20 for a dollop of guacamole and a few chips. Were really hoping to have churros for dessert but they ran out - by 8:00. The server recommended another dessert that was really, very, quite underwhelming, especially for $19! Service was on time, just the right amount of attention and the food came out quickly. The biggest issue was the noise level. It is an old concrete building with no sound deadening materials so it was really loud, and then they turn up the music to make it even worse (does anyone really care about background music when you are already having to scream at each other?). Well give it a pass next time due to price and noise levels. Too bad cause its a pretty cool place (but giving atmosphere a three due to the noise).
We had two private events in the SRO this year and both were amazing. Lia was incredible to work with and the entire team was so helpful and hospitable. I would absolutely have a private event here again in a heartbeat!
Beautiful place but missed the mark. We ordered the ceviche and a couple drinks and then decided to go. The ceviche is NOT a ceviche. Ceviche is supposed to be this FRESH, delicious limey dish. This was just not that at all. Like they wanted to do their own take on a ceviche but it was not working. And over $30 as well!! That is insane! Drinks were alright but took long to come. Service was a little slow.
I wish I could give 0 stars for the food, however the server was lovely and the atmosphere very nice. We had the Causa, Ensalada and Pollo, I must be fair and say I do have dietary restrictions which directed us to these specific dishes as they are celiac safe, however that does not excuse how poor quality the food we were served was. We could not finish the Ensalada nor the Pollo due to how truly horrible they both tasted. The Ensalada was a 20 dollar wedge salad with bitter lettuce wedges, large chunks of tasteless heirloom tomatoes, and coleslaw style dressing, paired with a large amount of tasteless chill oil and burrata like cheese with the texture of cottage cheese. Overall tasteless other than the bitter bites of lettuce wedge. The Pollo was 50 dollars for dry chicken breast, large watery chunks of pineapple, raw cabbage, raw carrot and raw cauliflower soaked in vinegrette, presumably to mimic pickling, and paired with corn tortillas smaller than the palm of my hand. Overall largely difficult to eat and a confusingly bad combination of flavours/textures. It is just shocking that they are charging such exuberant amounts for such poor quality of food. Please dont waste your money like I did.
Went to Fortuna s Row last night with Some friends. Drinks were small but tasty. Atmosphere is fantastic. Parking is a pain. Started with the Empanadas and Ensalada, which were both very good. For the mains, we had the Duck and the Ribeye. Duck was ok, but Ribeye was cold, fatty and not good. Especially for $80. However our waiter removed it from the bill, so that was well appreciated.
It was so delicious. I will go again. I recommend it!!!
Delicious food and food is beautifully presented. My only complaint is that they music really loud and it is hard to have conversations or hear the servers. We asked if they could turn down the music and apparently the servers are unable to!!
The experience at Fortuna s row was second to none. The vibe? Immaculate. The service? SO warm and friendly. The food? To die for. The cocktails, inspired! We did the let us feed you experience and it was amazing, our server Sehra was wonderful and made the dining experience a 10/10. We can t wait to come back for another exceptional meal.
Amazing atmosphere and Service. Friendly staff. Food and drinks were decent. Great music selection as well. Parking available. Vegetarian options: Labeled vegetarian options!
What a lovely restaurant! The food was amazing, lots of options to choose from, and the portion is so filling. Tartare is so creamy !! Probably one of my favourite tartare in the city. The tacos and empanada were also really good, so savoury and meaty. The service was excellent and they went above and beyond. The first time my friend and I went here, we had a bad experience with this one server but after contacting the establishment they were more than happy to make it up with us and sincerely apologized for what happened. They sent us bubbles and dessert on the house and they were fantastic!! Also love the interior and the atmosphere!!! So chic and stylish!! We ll keep coming back until we try everything on the menu including the cocktail drinks !!
Cocktails were great. The tartare was phenomenal and the scallops were quite tasty. However, the gnudi was very dry and the beef res was quite fatty and didnt seem worth the price. The service was not at all what is expected from a restaurant of this caliber.
Delicious food, exceptionally small portions. Snacks are two small pieces, and the plates and shareables are both appetizers. We ordered two of each for a party of 4 and it wasnt enough food for dinner. Service was attentive and quick, and the food came out very timely. The atmosphere was excellent. We passed on the cocktails as an average price of $16 wasnt what we were looking for. Id suggest you dont come hungry, and more so that this is the place if youre looking for upscale cocktail prices with the option of an appetizer.
My phone glitched on the way home and submitted the review as a 3 star before being completed, my apologies. We were walk ins and they seemed a bit concerned at first that we didnt have a reservation but the place was mostly empty so we were quickly sat at the bar. I have come to enjoy being sat here overall as you get a pulse on the place and employees worth ethic. Drinks where nice and full of flavor, albeit a bit overpriced. We loved the Empanadas, absolutely amazing. Cannot wait to eat these again someday! We also ordered the dumplings but I found them under cooked, over sauced and lacking flavor other than what I can only describe as a vinegar note. Please limit flash photography is on every menu but this is NOT enforced. My partner and I can be sensitive to this and a party table beside us took 20+ photos flashed directly at us. When you are expecting this in a dance place, you can close your eye, etc. On an intimate date while trying to converse and eat, its very disrupting. I mentioned it when we were getting our bill to leave, to ask for future reference and I was presented with a non pleasant face and advised I could be moved across the room to the other end of the bar.
Beautiful place and vibe but terrible service, food was not worth it. Servers were not nice at all until tipped. Came with my boyfriend and it was the worst idea ever. Never again.
5 stars are not enough! Great experience delivered!
I found the food to be alright. The empanadas were really good, however, the pincha left a lot to be desired. Service felt a bit slower compared to other restaurants however they do pour a generous glass of wine. I did input in the reservation that it was my girlfriend s birthday and they did acknowledge it at the very beginning when we sat down. However, nothing came out of it. Not a big deal as it was probably just forgotten.
Came here for my friend s Birthday, thanks for making it so special! Food and service was excellent and the place was pleasant and cozy :) Shoutout to Ren for the treats! Food
Came for a Friday night light dinner. Very cool atmosphere inside, we were at the chefs table. I really liked the Chicha Morada cocktail, great soursop flavour. The Bunuelo (beef tartare) was the best thing we had, such a great sweet but tangy way to eat it, and it had this crunchy base to eat off of. The dumplings were an interesting flavour in a red sauce. The calamar was delicious too on top of squid ink rice. Dessert of Tres Leches was so good, with the crunchy layer on top, and not too sweet.
Love the vibe and the food is very good.
Felt like our server didn t fully care about our table since we were walk in s and the attention to detail was not fully there. Server forgot to ring in our to go order and kitchen was also closed at the time when our table finished. A bit let down from our experience unfortunately.
Great food, great flavors. Service is good, about what you would expect for the price point. Expect to pay $100 to leave full. Strong recommend. Consider spacing the tables out. For such a large space, it felt a bit cramped.
First time here after hearing raving reviews of this place. The food is amazingly delicious and the atmosphere is unlike any other restaurant in Calgary. Service was incredible and made us feel very welcomed!
Came here with some friends for dinner on a Tuesday night. We ordered the Avocado, the Empanadas, the Gobernador, Pollo, and Pato. All the dishes were rich in flavours and truly enjoyable. The Avocado is really good for summer days, super refreshing with herbs mix. Empanadas are quite pricey considering it is $16 for 2 small ones. The beef filling is delicious though, probably explains why it is super popular despite the price. Gobernador is a cheese lovers favouite. Pollo and Pato are great to share with our group of 5. Love the green rice and the crispy skin on the duck. The grilled pineapple and chicken is a great combination on top of a corn tortilla. Highly recommended for any adventurous food lover to try out Latin American cuisine - note that entrance is on the Riverfront Avenue side with free parking lot in front. Parking: Free parking in front
I booked Fortunas private dining room (PDR) for our organizations bi-annual board members dinner in May 2024 and we had an incredible experience! Stephanie Labbe, the general manager, was our event contact through the organization process - she was incredibly flexible, patient, and professional through the many back-and-forth emails. The room was perfect for our event and Ive never seen such a robust and unique course menu - none of the people in the room had ever eaten that good and plentifully. Our server Elicia was wonderful and provided attentive and expert service while limiting interruptions to our conversations. Thank you to the whole team!
A perfect night out and great spot for sharing. Incredible flavours and fun cocktails too!
Food was good, but barely Latin food, they did not have available anything we saw on the menu online. service was amazing
Tasty cocktails, good food. Chic Decor. Recommend it!
Fortunas Row really surprised me. Family-style meal experiences often involve small portions and inconsistent quality, but not here - the portions were generous and the food was fantastic. The servers were friendly and attentive, however the pacing of the set course needs to be greatly improved. The first two courses came arguably too quickly, with dish after dish coming with too little time between them. Then there was a half hour wait before the third course, with a further forty minute wait between that and dessert. This led to our party becoming bored and full with more food coming. Slow the cadence of the dishes, make them arrive on a consistent basis from course one to four, and then it will be perfect. Otherwise, this is a great spot with the potential to be one of the citys best.
Arrived late in the evening and were treated exceptionally well. All was prepared fresh to order and delicious. Vegetarian options: Server was well informed about the options
Food was fine but prices seemed really high for what it was.
Fortuna Row is a very unique restaurant that has excellent service, a very interesting menu and a lively well decorated atmosphere. I loved the experience and the quality and freshness of the food.
Delicious food with a wonderful server who explained the food well and made excellent suggestions.
Everything about this place was perfect. The ambiance and decor was amazing and our server Jamie was so sweet. She was attentive, kind, and very helpful when it came to any questions we had. The food was also amazing. The price is fitting for what you get and portion sizes are large. I will definitely be coming back :)
Amazing!!! Their patio is great! The inside dining lovely and lively. Their lounge is nice as well. Food outstanding. Worth a visit building is unassuming dont be fooled with this little gem inside
In my opinion, Fortunas Row in Calgary is a culinary beacon that seamlessly blends Latin fusion cuisine and some touches of international diversity with an inviting ambiance and exceptional service. From the moment you step through its doors, youre transported into a world where rustic and exotic decor create an intimate yet lively atmosphere, making it a must visit for anyone seeking an elevated dining experience. Upon arrival, the white textured wall adorned with fire candles immediately sets a tone of warmth and invitation. The transition from the vibrant energy of Calgary into Fortunas Rows embrace is seamless, with rustic and exotic decor converging with exquisite details like carefully chosen lamps and light fixtures. This harmonious blend creates an atmosphere that is both intimate and lively, perfectly setting the stage for the culinary delights that await. The staff at Fortunas Row are not just employees; they are ambassadors of hospitality. Their quick and courteous service is a testament to their dedication, navigating the bustling environment with graceful efficiency, ensuring that every guest feels attended to and valued. Each dish is a visual masterpiece, reflecting passion and culinary expertise, with meticulous presentation highlighting the vibrant colors and textures of the food, making each plate an artistic expression. The food at Fortunas Row is nothing short of a celebration of flavors, with every bite taking you on a journey through the rich tapestry of Iberoamerican cuisine, elevated to new heights. The fusion of traditional ingredients with innovative techniques results in dishes that are both familiar and surprising, leaving diners happy and excited with the perfect remedy for the weariness of a long week. We began our dinner with a selection of exquisite starters: the fresh and delicate Hamachi, the zesty Ahi Tuna Ceviche, the robustly seasoned Beef Tartare, succulent Scallops, and briny Oysters. The Scallops in Parmesan Foam with Pistachio Crunch offered a symphony of flavors and textures, followed by the crisp and vibrant Wedge Salad and comforting Beef Empanadas. The Beef Dumplings were an absolute piece of art, almost too beautiful to eat. The Charred Beef Sirloin Skewer was tender and flavorful, perfectly cooked, while the Corn Salad provided a sweet and savory complement. The Chorizo Stuffed Squid on a bed of the most delicious squid rice created an outstanding explosion of flavors. For dessert, the Churros with Mascarpone Cream, Burnt Marshmallow Ice Cream, and Lemon Topping were indulgent and creative. The rich Leche Quemada and the Tres Leches Cake with a Coffee Caramel Twist provided a satisfying and rich conclusion to an extraordinary meal. The restaurant also has an outdoor patio, where the energy of the city melded with the tranquility of the space, creating an entertaining atmosphere that complements the indoor setting. In my personal opinion, Fortunas Row is a culinary beacon in Calgary with its meticulous attention to detail in both service and culinary artistry, Fortunas Row isnt just a restaurant...its a destination!!! Here s why it stands out as a potential Michelin star contender. It is a must visit for anyone seeking an elevated dining experience that promises to be both enriching and delightful. Dietary restrictions: They really take dietary restrictions very seriously. Parking: The parking lot on the side of the building is free.
An absolute hidden gem. The restaurant is so unassuming from the exterior, but the interior is GORGEOUS. Food here is something to write home about for sure, and their cocktails are fabulous. The service is also incredible - staff is attentive and knowledgable.
The food, vibe, and service here are absolutely out of this world!!
Great atmosphere, menu is creative but i find the food tasting good but not exceptional. Service is good.
Tonight was our second time at Fortuna s Row with my boyfriend. Our server Kerry was outstanding, very attentive, efficient and courteous. The ambience and over all food was tasty. The only hitch was the dish Chancho, I expected it will be a bit salty, but this kind of saltiness is beyond edible. I don t normally return food back to the kitchen but I had to. I don t think I ll be able to finish this particular dish and if I did, I will drink gallons of water through the night. I talked to our server, Kerry and she was able to resolve our concern immediately. We were able to replace it with Gnudi dish and it was spectacular, same with Habichuela! The Empanada, Oh my I had to order it twice! Thanks so much Kerry For your excellent customer service.
10 out of 10 would recommend! This restaurant does it all. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten friendly and vegetarian options! Food : 5/5 |
I went in at 435pm not realizing they close in between services. That was fine, I said I d wait. I was rudely told by the waitress that I couldn t as they were about to have a staff meeting. I was disappointed but understood. I had walked there and the day was hot and she wouldn t even give me water. A little humanity can go a long way!
We decided to go for our 6 year anniversary. We booked a reservation well in advance. The first server straight up lied to us. The second server was slow. The food was salty and not at all worth the price tag. And there was no mention or congratulations about our anniversary. The venue is very well designed, alas all that glitters is not gold.
Had a rude waiter. Ruined an experience that would otherwise have been lovely.
We had the best brunch here. The food was delicious and full of flavor that complemented each other. Their desserts were my favorite ! We had chilaquiles and avocado dish. Great staff and lovely space.
No a lot of food options that Id go for. But service was great. Really sweet server we had. Food we ordered was good.
Our service WOW!!! I completely forgot his name, but the gentleman serving myself and my friend on Sunday evening was so incredible. He was informative, attentive, and knew how to gauge when we wanted our space and time to catch up! Food was also great! But portions are quite small for the price. He didn t mind at all either when we would occasionally leave to take pictures, and even recommended the room with all the couches for pictures since it was an empty Sunday night. We were in this lounge area for 10 minutes and again our server had no problem with us there, but it seemed some other staff didn t like us being there so long. While we were taking our pictures, a girl came to us saying we weren t allowed to be there without supervision we left, apologized, and asked for our coats to which she seemed even more frustrated with us. As we got our coats on, she was grabbing her things to leave as well, and we apologized again realizing maybe they couldn t go home until we left. But this occurred at 10:30 and we thought the restaurant closed at 11. I feel like she could ve just said we wanna go home and we would ve understood and left right away! Regardless, would go again just for the original amazing service!
Super cool, great atmosphere, must try, amazing food!
Beautiful room with exquisite food to accompany your dining experience.
Came here for Sunday brunch. The decor is nice and good atmosphere. But the food is terrible wouldn t recommend the food to anyone here but a great place to grab a coffee and hangout.
Great decor inside and a nicely lively buzz in the dining room. Some great dishes like the stuffed squid and steak. It was the start of their new menu change as we are changing seasons, so some little tweaks will be made for sure. Tartare needed a pinch of salt or some Maldon on the side. The dessert was a little bit of a let down with the churro tasting dry like it had been made before service. The ice cream with it was great. Also the main pork needed tweaking kind of tasted like ham loin with banana ketchup. So thats the only real points to dock. Service was excellent really attentive considering how busy the place got. Jamie our server was great. All in all a great little spot for a date night or drink at the back bar. Be good to try brunch as well. Dietary restrictions: Gluten sensitivity and shell fish.
In my opinion the best restaurant in Calgary!
Great service, Delicious food. Unique flavours and combinations. Have never had food like this before. Definitely a must eat spot
It was a pleasure to taste such wonderful flavors in every single dish!
Helpful servers will recommend great dishes. The food was great and the vibes were immaculate.
Wow, wow wow! Best meal weve had in ages! Cant recommend enough!
Such a unique and beautiful atmosphere! Food was amazing - ordered the pork belly and it had an interesting combination of flavours! Service was also excellent. Elicia, our server, was fantastic! She gave great recommendations and also made sure we were promptly serviced. She made our experience here the best and I will definitely come back. Thank you Elicia!!
The decor and atmosphere gave us false hope. The hostesses were not welcoming, and the service was poor at best. We ordered the breakfast tacos, huevos rancheros, yucca fries, French toast, and a side of eggs. We asked to have some fruit on the French toast because of a food allergy with the creme fraiche and were told we would be charged $21 for the fruit/granola bowl which had a side of fruit. So the French toast, which was only one slice, was dry and only arrived with 6 sections of grapefruit on top. No syrup, or fruit compote, nothing. The yucca fries were also dry. Chalky dry, no flavor, and the weird yellow dipping sauce that accompanied them might have well not existed bc it too had zero flavor. Or texture. There was not an option to have the side of eggs cooked. They arrived luke warm and halfway cooked to a runny sunny-side up. And without salt and pepper. We had to ask for that. The breakfast tacos were another massive letdown. The brisket was tough, cold, and just cooked. No burnt bits, no flavor, not falling apart in your mouth ready to soak up the sunny-side up egg yokes. And the pico?!!! Stingiest serving was less than a teaspoon/taco. The huevos rancheros had the least problems, but was still disappointing. 10 out of 10 would NOT recommend. Take the time and spend the money to fly to Mexico to get some proper brunch over spending your time and money here.
Beautiful location , decent parking for downtown (dirt lot) Kudos to the design and the service. Our waitress was awesome and the building interior design was very nice. The brunch we had was a bit overpriced and not at the level of other high end locations, huevos rancheros was basicly bean soup, bistec a caballo was pretty plain BUT those potatos are awesome. Good selection of cocktails , may bring me back for more drinks and maybe try their dinner menu instead.
Breanna was an amazing server. She picked our meal for us and it was incredible. The drinks, food & service were great! Thank you! Dietary restrictions: Accommodated our gluten friendly request
Our group of seven had a phenomenal dinner here. We did the larger menu experience, and the food just kept on coming. Every dish was delicious. I m so glad we chose this restaurant, and I would recommend it in a heartbeat. Don t hesitate! Just go!
Came here last night and had the most amazing time! Food was great and the ambiance was amazing. This was a great experience, definitely recommend this place!
The food was creative and delicious!
Beautiful interior design! And service was lovely. Would definitely recommend and would come back with friends! Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian options. I am vegetarian and I was satisfied with the options. Parking: Parking lot was bursting. The restaurant has its own parking, but it was too packed with vehicles that it was a maze to get to the entrance. There is paid street parking. But that option was also quite full and had to park quite a ways away. Wheelchair accessibility: It is technically wheelchair accessible. But the parking lot was so full and the entrance was difficult to get to without a wheelchair.
Amazing seafood tacos and Hibiscus cocktail!
Call ahead and book the dessert if you are eyeing one. They sell out fast! Love the ambience, the bar reminds me of the swim up bars in Mexico. Food is amazing and flavourful. My last visit, I had enchiladas, which were soooo good. Food : 5/5
It was OK.. probably wont go back for a while .... we spend 350$ and I dont think I would order any of the items again Also parking is tight...
Stunning location with fantastic food, and amazing service! Elicia provided exceptional service and had great product knowledge! We will be back for sure! Food
The food was delicious and quick, our time at Fortunas Row was amazing due to the great food and even better service. Thanks Chad for the great service
This is a beautiful restaurant tucked away by the riverfront. We chose the let us feed you option and it was phenomenal. Everything was beautiful presented and delicious. The drinks were so unique and enjoyable. There is something on the menu for everyone! I love how it is a rotating food and drink menu so you will always have an excuse to come back and delight in seasonal offerings.
Tricky navigation to find but the ambience is great, right music level that allows you to have conversations without screaming, nice service from the staff and the food is amazing! Had the bread and oysters for starters, and ribs! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options
Fortunas Row in downtown Calgary is a true gem that promises an unforgettable Latin American food dining experience. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Charley, our hostess with the mostest. Her sense of humor and charm made us feel right at home, setting the tone for an incredible evening. The ambiance is perfect, blending a chic, modern vibe with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Our server, Ainsley, was exceptionally knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with expertise and making impeccable recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. And the drinks? Simply delectable, expertly crafted to complement the meal perfectly. One recommendation for future diners: dress up a bit. We walked into a packed restaurant wearing t-shirts and jeans and felt a little underdressed amidst the stylish crowd. Fortunas Row is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a top-notch dining experience in Calgary. We cant wait to return!
We sat at the Chef s bar and I m glad I made that choice. I love a show!
Food was good, we ordered the pork belly item for brunch and it was much bigger than I expected in terms of portion size. The biggest selling point is the atmosphere, decor and vibes. Can defs see this being a cool venue for a mixer or fun cocktails at night.
I have no idea how to describe Fortuna s Row. Maybe I m becoming a cynic but I can t bring myself to be ecstatic about my dining experience there. Was it good? Yes. Why was it good? I dunno actually. Did the presentation and trendiness of the establishment pre-signal to my brain that it would be good? Perhaps. Nothing bad to say about the food. The gnocchi was my favourite, though the gnocchi itself was a little grainy and not pillowy soft. The mushrooms and sauce were so savoury it was almost reminiscent of licking the spoon after scooping some better than bouillon out of the jar (I write this as someone who loves doing that). Our desserts were a close second for favourite dishes. The cocktails were good, but any restaurant of this nature should have a solid and creative bar. The restaurant is beautiful. For being primarily concrete it was easy to have and hold a conversation. Our server was overly apologetic about some wait he perceived, but what was his expectation? We had 7 or 8 dishes ordered, I didn t expect them all at once in a paper bag. We had consistent service, but would have appreciated an offer for new side plates. A lot of saucy dishes that didn t necessarily mingle well on our personal plates. We eventually asked and they were happy to oblige. At the end of the night he gave us some free cava to compensate for our patience, which never goes unappreciated! One note is that the corridor between the restaurant and the washrooms has a small decline that isn t well marked. You could misjudge the step down and fall if you re not careful. Parking: Very, very limited parking.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fortunas Row, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. Each dish I sampled was a masterpiece, showcasing the chefs skill and creativity. Empanada - The exterior was a golden flaky pastry shell, the Empanada unveiled a delicious filling of braised beef, tender and succulent, melding with a zesty guasacaca sauce. Beef Tartare - This was a standout dish, boasting exquisite flavours and an interesting presentation. The quality of the beef was exceptional, and the blend of seasonings was perfectly balanced. It was accompanied with a large tortilla chip but very light and complimented the tartare. The sliced grapes also was a great addition to the dish. Avocado - This was a star of the dinner!! Featuring avocado and pea guacamole, crowned with fried shimeji mushrooms and drizzled with sesame salsa. With each spoonful, the guacamole revealed a symphony of flavours a perfect marriage of creamy avocado and vibrant pea, elevated by a delicate balance of spices. The addition of fried shimeji mushrooms offered a delightful contrast, adding a crunchy textural dimension. The sesame salsa, with its nutty undertones and subtle sweetness, provided a harmonious finishing touch. This was served with home made tortilla chips. There are darker in colour but so good! Causa - The Roasted Chicken was a culinary masterpiece, blending traditional Peruvian flavours with modern flair. The potato causa served as a comforting base, perfectly complementing the tender and flavourful roasted chicken. Res -The Ribeye was cooked to perfection, showcasing the chefs mastery of grilling techniques. Each bite of the tender, juicy steak was bursting with flavour, leaving me craving more. Served with broccolini and topped with cooked garlic cloves. Chicken Al Pastor Tacos - These tacos were so good. The grilled chicken was incredibly juicy and flavourful, perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the pineapple. The heirloom corn tortillas were the perfect vessel, adding an authentic touch to this classic Mexican dish. Each bite was a burst of flavour. Also the unlimited house-made soft tortillas, which were an absolute delight. Warm, soft, and utterly delicious, they were the perfect accompaniment to every dish. The fact that they were house-made added an extra layer of indulgence to the dining experience. Ginger Cocktail - This cocktail was a bold and refreshing choice. While the flavours were undeniably strong, I found it to be a bit too potent for my personal taste. However, I appreciated the craftsmanship that went into its preparation, and I can see how it would be a hit with those who enjoy a stronger drink. Jasmine Cocktail - With each sip, the intricate balance of jasmine and coconut intertwined with zesty lemon, while the pisco and sake added depth. The addition of egg white gave the drink a velvety texture that elevated the drinking experience. It is a must try. Churro for dessert. For dessert, we tried the churro, which was a pleasantly surprising departure from the usual. I highly recommend giving it a try. In addition to the outstanding cuisine, Fortunas Row boasts a beautiful and spacious ambiance. Despite every table being occupied, the restaurant never felt crowded, allowing for a comfortable and relaxed dining atmosphere. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring that every need was met, including the thoughtful coat check. It was a wonder dinner experience!! Parking: Parking was limited in front of the restaurant. We came early around 5:30. Not sure if there is parking available on the other side of the restaurant. I did see some people walking to the restaurant.
Tried the YYC food experience, 5 course, it was underwhelming. The plantain guac & chips taken was pleasant however the other dishes lacked finesse and depth. Dessert was mid.
If there is one thing that s getting lost in the age of carbon copy gastro pubs, it s ambience - and Fortuna s Row gets that down perfectly. You step into the restaurant and the vibes just transport you to Latin America, the music is set and the interior is unique and fitting. The service is immaculate, and I have a deep appreciation for coming straight out of Bow Valley College and dressed for school with my backpack and not for a classy supper club, and I wasn t treated any differently for this, ie like I wasn t classy enough to be in there. The waitress was incredible, quick service and seating although I had luckily just come in during a lull, the restaurant filled up quickly closer to 6. I always appreciate an open kitchen, and the food was pretty good too - I especially liked how the waitress described the dish. My only issue was that my quesadilla was a little bit greasy, but it was superb other than that, and I m not Gordon Ramsey to get upset over a bit of grease. I definitely think this gem is worth a visit, especially for the price.
When we drove up, we were skeptical ut man is it on the inside. We went on a Sunday evening, perfect time not too busy. Our serve Chad was so knowledgable and friendly, he helped us through drinks and meals, just amazing and I could hear him with the other tables he was just amazing! We had one of the best meals of our lives and I have traveled to Mexico many times, so it felt like I was transported back there! Everything was so flavorful, cooked perfectly tender and juicy. Just an absolute delight to the senses.
Came in for my birthday dinner last night. Arielle had no idea throughout the service but she was naturally so kind and great that my experience still felt special. My boyfriend and I tried the pato and whiskey sour and they were awesome!
Went for brunch, they changed their menu. Had the chicken enchiladas with egg and shared the ugly cornbread. It was delicious. The music is great, server was great and love the atmosphere. So happy to have a great place like this in Calgary!
The ribeye steak good service and architecture.
Incredible food, efficient service, attention to detail / allergens, super kind staff & comforting atmosphere. Thank you so much! Highly recommend to attend - especially if you re in a group! Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free & dairy free options! Incredibly delicious - you would never tell the difference.
Great spot! If you havent been, you should try it. Food : 5/5
Outstanding food, and amazing atmosphere, also great service, The pinnacle of fine dining experience. Vegetarian options: Decent selection available Parking: Not a ton of spots but enough for its size
An acquired taste.
Awesome food. Relaxed atmosphere, no rushing. Can talk with dinner companions easily.
What an amazing experience with friends! The food was spectacular and the kitchen staff went above and beyond accommodating our multiple dietary needs. Not many restaurants are quite so elegant at deconstructing toppings off menu selections and thoughtfully putting them on the side for others in our group to enjoy. Our waitress was very professional and attentive! We will definitely be back.
Great place with a great twist on some traditional foods and ingredients. the dessert tamal was definitely set a high standard for the traditional sweet tamal.
I love the vibe and atmosphere of Fortunas Row. It literally feels like you are not in Calgary. The empanadas are incredible. The other dishes we ordered were also delicious. I will definitely be back. Parking: Parking can be a challenge. I ended up on the street, which is typically paid parking if it hadnt been after 6 PM.
Madison was amazing ! I definitely recommend requesting her service. One of the best in the city
While the restaurant is beautiful and the food is fine, we had a poor experience with our server right off the bat which soured the entire evening. We would have walked out had we not been celebrating my mom s birthday. If the restaurant wants to charge higher end prices, the quality of service and experience should match. Our server gave us the impression that our business wasn t too vital on a busy Saturday night; if we weren t there, others would have been happy to fill our seats. But I know I will not be returning, and certainly won t be bringing any clients to this venue.
Loved every single thing we had. Highly recommend
Beautiful interior to a very non descript exterior, cocktail menus are incredible and food was even better, expect to spend a few hours
Vegetarian options: Excellent food. There were 4 options that could be made vegan and quite a few vegetarian options Food
I was very pleasantly surprised by Fortuna. A friend of mine who is Venezuelan suggested this restaurant to meet for dinner. As a Mexican ex-pat, I found the food to be very similar to the tastes Im familiar with. I even told my friend when I had a bite of the empanadas that they tasted like México. I closed my eyes, and the flavor took me to my family table back home, delicious! I also had their octopus dish. The consistency of the meat was cooked to perfection, soft, not rubbery at all, sublime flavor. The other dishes were also great. And the dessert was amazing. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and so was the service. I would highly recommend Fortuna to anyone, Latino or otherwise.
The restaurant was overall outstanding. Right down to the hostess and bartender with a short brown bob. Our lovely server Tessa took such great care of us and had amazing recommendations. 20/10 experience!!
Beautiful location and delicious food. Cant wait to go back for the dinner menu. Service could have been better, and they ran out of pastries by about 12:30.
Good place for food and drinks. They have small plates to share which is ideal for a drinks night with friends. They have a variety of very nice and delicious cocktails. Good music and great atmosfere. The food is a combination of mexican, peruvian and spanish plates. They have inside a bar that you can go after your dinner.
My colleagues and I had dinner at Fortunas Row last night. The food was good, the service was great and the ambiance was very nice!
Great space and amazing menu. Everything is made for sharing which I personally like so you can try a little bit of everything. Cocktails were great I loved the Corn! Been here for brunch and dinner and both are great!!
I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The staff were nice, but slow to clear plates/glasses. I had an empty glass sitting in front of me for most of the evening. The drinks were creative and tasty, but the food was a massive disappointment, I heard complaints from a few people at my table regarding the food. For the price, I really wasnt impressed.
This is a review of the YYCEXP menu, where restaurants have delicious bites at affordable prices to encourage people to get out and dine mostly in downtown. Fortuna s Row priced their dinner menu at $75 per person, which is the highest price tier, and the whole experience did not provide flavour or value for money. Given that Fortuna s Row was just listed as one of Calgary s best restaurants by Avenue Magazine, and given that this was the first day of YYCEXP menu, it is entirely possible that what I tasted wasn t representative of the strengths of the culinary team. Flavours were muted, the dishes were lacking in seasoning, and the food didn t match the energetic if somewhat loud dining environment. This 5 course menu isn t likely to appeal to foodies, and I suspect you would be better off ordering from the standard menu. Service was friendly and fabulous, and the bar area makes for some Instagram worthy photos. I agree with the review of @Sofi CB, who has reviewed way more restaurants that me, and also gave it three stars: this place has potential.
Absolutely loved this place. The food was so full of flavour and the cocktails were amazing. The generous portions were enjoyed by our entire group.
My recent dining experience at Fortunas Row was elevated to extraordinary heights thanks to the impeccable service provided by Madison, our host and server. From the moment we entered the establishment, Madisons warm demeanor and attentive nature set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Madisons professionalism and expertise were evident throughout our meal. She effortlessly guided us through the menu, offering insightful recommendations and ensuring that our dining preferences were met with precision. Her genuine passion for hospitality shone through in every interaction, making us feel welcomed and valued guests. Moreover, Madison was not alone in creating such a delightful experience. Her fellow coworkers and the talented chefs behind the scenes played integral roles in making our visit truly memorable. Each member of the team worked seamlessly together, orchestrating a symphony of flavors and impeccable service that left a lasting impression. Speaking of the culinary delights, the food at Fortunas Row surpassed all expectations. From the appetizers to the desserts, every dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. The chefs showcased their culinary prowess with each carefully crafted plate, infusing innovative twists on classic dishes that tantalized the taste buds and delighted the senses. In conclusion, my experience at Fortunas Row, guided by the exceptional service of Madison and complemented by the culinary expertise of her coworkers and chefs, was nothing short of extraordinary. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a truly memorable dining experience.
One of the prettiest places I have ever been to. Food delicious and service is great!!!
Food 3.5 : Good fusion but warm/cold coming to the table. We love our food hot when we eat it hopefully like most customers. Service: 5 our server Dominic was fantastic, knowledgeable and very attentive Atmosphere: 4 great spacious location but the music was too loud for us to hear ourselves and the servers when they were introducing the food. The water service was impeccable where someone was also coming around to make sure your water glass was full.
Wow! Well done. Will be back again. Steak, chorizo, oh my! Also the coffee is awesome
Beautiful decor and atmosphere, very helpful service and the food was delicious and exciting! Dietary restrictions: Staff were helpful with making recommendations to accommodate gluten-free and shellfish allergy.
Beautiful space, great service, food and cocktails were absolutely delicious, overall an outstanding experience! Special appreciation to the host for accommodating our request to switch tables, to the server for surprising us after dinner with some digestifs, and to the chefs for the beautifully crafted menu. Will definitely be back!
Too expensive though
Great steak
The food was an experience. I was very impressed. The sizes were good and we enjoyed the fresh tasting ingredients combined to make such wonderful dishes. We will be back!
First of all, what a stunning space! The interior design is absolutely beautiful. If you have a chance to visit, make sure to check out the washrooms, very cool! My dining experience was nothing short of phenomenal. Everything from the delicious cuisine, a charming ambiance to the outstanding service make it a must visit! :)
Beautiful restaurant, great cocktails, great food. An amazing place for a first date. Not too busy on weekdays. Food
We loved our time at Fortunas Row! The food was incredible, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. They have a great selection of cocktails. The only downside we had was that the food came in intermittently. We ordered the snacks first while waiting for the rest of our group to come, and it came in a timely manner.. However, after ordering small plates and shareable dishes, the small dishes came just about all at once, but the shareable dishes came for about 10 to 15 minutes in between. Every dish was so good that we didnt want to have pauses in between. But the next time we come, we will ask our server to have it all delivered to our table at the same time. That way, we can enjoy each dish to a maximum! Well try their brunch next time. Other than that, I highly recommend this place still!
This is a Latin american styled restaurant. But I like to think of it as the United Nations of restaurants with its headquarters located somewhere in Latin America. Tips: If you have money to spend, let your host recommend it to you and take you on a 4 course experience. If not, be deligent. The food was superb, and the restaurant had a whole vibe in itself. Ill definitely go back again. If you are a light eater, you do not need the whole experience, just pick one thing and be out of there, because the best may come for the last and you may be too full to eat......while still having to pay for the bill. Always tip your host. Do not take someone you do not love here. Do not take someone here just to impress them when you are not sure of their loyalty. Take them to Arbys or something. Lol. Only take meaningful people in your life to this place to have a meaningful experience.
Been twice now and really impressed with the food. We ve had the duck w/ green rice, the pincho (steak), aguachile, and polpo. All of them were so good. The sauce with the polpo was addicting. Also the bread appetizer is a must order as it s all made fresh in house by their own pastry chef. The service was also top tier. Our server (Ainsley?) took great care of us and had great recommendations. The atmosphere is very fun and made for a great date night. Would highly recommend this place!
Amazing set of cocktails and ambiance is pretty cool. Highly recommend this bar for a date night or even a single hangout.
I really enjoyed Fortunas Row! The vibe was cool, and the host spreading palo santo was a nice touch. Drinks were good, and the food was awesome. The salmon toradito was a hit, and the Res steak with that amazing sauce was to die for!
Such a great restaurant. My wife and I went for Valentines Day and the set menu was phenomenal. The service and the atmosphere here are always amazing, this is a real gem!!!
An energetic restaurant with a varied Latin menu. The dishes and cocktails were well-executed. The service was personal and the interesting physical atmosphere. Lots of great dishes. Great spot!
Server was very nice but obviously new , four things we attempted to order were not available which was pretty disappointing. The food we did order wasn t anything worth remembering . Atmosphere and presentation were lovely but that s what steals the show from our experience . Food
As a person from the hospital industry, this was my first time at the this place and for brunch. My go-to place for brunch. We had 12 people, two separate tables. Food was definitely delicious, and good portions. Compare to alot of other restaurants that serve Brunch .The portion is worth the price, see the pics for yourself. Sauces were delicious. The tequila liqueur is a must try. Our server really was top notch at our table. Ainsley knew the menu thoroughly and offered suggestions and pairings. The pork belly chicharron was delicious. We are planning our next dinner event here. Just to note over 6 people is one bilI. I read some comments people dont like this. Every business policy is different but as a person who dines out regularly this is quite common, so very understandable.
Incredible cocktails. Food was amazing. Service was great too.
We love the vibe here. The deco is impeccable. Service is top-notch. The food is tasty with reasonable prices. We keep coming back every other week for brunch date. Totally recommend Fortunas Row.
Loved this place!! So beautiful, so delicious.
Tried multiple dishes, and everything tasted amazing, must try restaurant
I am rating five because it deserves it. Though, some of the plates could be arranged : for example, the pincho (red meat), served with an excellent sauce would be ideal with a potato or vegetables purée instead of these fried potato spaghettis. Though, as a french parisian, I have been amazed and I could say way more, about the desserts. It is RARE to find a restaurant that masters that expertise : the chocolate mousse in the bread snacks should be a dessert. We tried the chocolate almond mousse dessert : excellent balance. Believe it or not, I am not a sugary cakes fan at all. I am very peaky and always look for excellence. The other plates or drinks are an awe of balance : will be improve for sure and depends on taste. But overall congratulations to the cooking team. Visit it once or make it yours, but worth the experience and will personnally go back to have my people discover it. Thank you!
One of the best restaurants to have opened in Calgary recently! Great food, perfected cocktails and a wonderful atmosphere.
amazing food, first supper club experience and it was worth it.
Went for some afternoon cocktails with a friend. Had a donut, potatoes, fruit plate and the chorizo sausage. All were very good, but our bartender was extraordinary. We had about 9 of their cocktails (between the 3 of us) when our bartender offered another menu from their cocktail lounge to treat us to something more unique. And man, he delivered! I completely forgot to grab his name, but he went above and beyond to make this not only an afternoon out with friends, but an experience we won t forget. (Sit at the bar if you can).
Interesting, different and unexpected but not quite for my palette. If youre adventurous, then this place is likely a perfect spot for you.
Mmmm honestly I wouldnt go back because its not for my palate Im Latin and that was what attracted me to the place, but it is very out of the traditional, the dishes had a Latin appearance but the flavor was totally different from what we are used to eating in our countries. The service is excellent, I dont have to complain except because they take away your drinks without asking anything and I think 2 of mine were not finished. THERE IS SOMETHING THAT LEFT ME TOTALLY DISGUSTED, EATING WHILE A GIRL WALKS BY WITH PALO SANTO FOR FLAVOR... who thinks of serving food with the smell of palo santo on your side? That situation was totally unpleasant because when I asked if you could please remove that smell so that I could taste my dish without aromatic interference, I was questioned and I had to explain in great detail so that they would accept my request. Dietary restrictions: Strict if you are allergic. That is valued today.
Incredible dinner, show stopping restaurant and amazing service. Thank you!
Terrible service. Small food portions. The only thing is the atmosphere is great.
Trendy, raw sea food, meat. Small shareable choices, drinks are expensive. Nice large environment with unique bathrooms.
Excellent food, great atmosphere (bar looks like something you might see in a bond movie)
We recently tried Fortunas row and absolutely loved it! The food was impeccable, service was attentive and inviting and the atmosphere was very warm. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a fine dining experience that promises to deliver!
I now have 2 visits to this restaurant. Ambiance and service were great. Sadly, I m missing something. I occasionally enjoy/appreciate a higher end dining experience with ambiance, service and leaving with a feeling of meal satisfaction. Food flavour and presentation were VG but when 5 adults leave a restaurant after a +$600tab, 4 alcohol drinks, and all are hungry, then maybe the prices are far too high for the portions presented or I shouldn t invite my sumo friends.
I went there for the first time with my family, we went with the chefs experience. Ill definitely go back! 5 stars all the way.
Had a reservation for my birthday, the staff were really friendly, we had the 3 course meal and it was all very good, a lot of food!
We recently hosted a company event at Fortunas Row in the SRO bar, and it was absolutely perfect! The team was fantastic to work with, the space itself was gorgeous, and the food and drinks exceeded our expectations. Whether youre planning a corporate party or a night out with friends, Fortunas Row is an excellent choice. A big thanks to Elizabeth and the entire team for ensuring our event was truly fantastic!
Great food, great vibe, great room.
Delightful, delicious, and exciting.
Celebrated a special occasion at Fortunas Row, and it was absolutely magical. The ambiance, paired with the delicious dishes were awesome.
Incredible spot. Delicious food, great cocktails, good service. A favorite spot in Calgary
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great and the dining room is beautiful! The hosting staff were wonderful. The service while sitting at the bar was great. The food on the whole was delicious particularly the salmon and the gnocchi. I would go back for those two dishes alone. The cocktail I had was very tasty. One of the servers dropped off some serving spoons so we could get all the delicious sauce from the dishes. Now the bad... The octopus was one dimensional and didnt have salt. The sauce was too spicy to provide the salt it needed. The octopus was also wasnt the freshest with a slight hint of fishiness. When introducing the dishes, 3 of our 5 dishes was only introduced to one of us instead of both and it felt very rushed. All in all, I would come back here and try different dishes.
Grilled salmon is very tasty
