Had lunch with a friend. Extremely satisfying experience on everything. Can t recommend more.

I was there for a special event so not sure what it is like for normal times, but the hors doeuvres served were excellent and the selection of finger food at the buffet tables was very good. Staff were friendly. Inexpensive parking available across the street at the underground core parking lot - free for the first 3 hours and $2 after.

Always enjoy going there for lunches and dinner. Cant go wrong

We had such a nice experience at Barcelona restaurant. And having Jordan as our table server made such a big difference, she was amazing, gave us the best service, we would rate her 10. Thank you so much we will definitely come back.

Do not bother going here. Manager is so rude! Server was nice and food was ok but I will never go back here again. Terrible management..

The socarrat on the paella is either burnt or non existent. The blackened chicken and asparagus were well done but appeared to be cooked separate from the rice. Ended up feeling more like chicken on rice and less like a paella.

Dined in for lunch, surprisingly, not many options for Vegeterians or Vegans. Typically, most restaurants carry a plant based burger, even thats missing. The tuscon salad ordered was good, but there couldve been more options for vegetarians. We were two other person who ordered pasta chicken gave a good remark about the food. The only dessert available is Churro, but its very good. Vegetarian options: There are not many options except two salads and a pizza, unfortunately . Hope the management takes note of this and improves the menu.

Whats the definition of misleading advertising? Headed into Barcelonas with friends as the sign outside half off vino and bubbles every Monday and Wednesday - bought 2 glasses of Prosecco (wine) - time for the bill - FULL PRICE - But your sign says half price on Monday - Oh - sorry - thats only when you buy by the bottle - and still charged FULL PRICE Not seeing that message on your sign - can anyone else see that message on their poster (see attached photo) - Barcelona - maybe you should be a little more honest like the Hawthorn sign for their half price Wednesday - see sttached

The setting and ambiance were ok. The server was nice, but after we finished eating and she took most of our plates away. She had us waiting for over 1/2hr before she brought the bill. We wanted to leave but couldnt. We tried to get her attention a few times, but she was down by the bar, catering to other customers, and wasnt looking our way. She kept going to the back and out of sight a lot. Thats not good at all. Im not sure if Ill go back there.

Only negative thing I can think of is that the music is too loud, but that is nit-picking

Horrible experience today. The waitress we got was rushing us up to order. We asked if she could possible take a picture of our group while we were eating and she told us to wait till the end because it wasn t the right time. We were celebrating a team member retirement and felt like she was rude to all of us. At the end, when we asked if it was ok to take a pic she said that she wasn t our personal photographer. Totally rude! Left a tip because it was corporate but did not deserve. Talked to a manager as for sure she needs some training. Hopefully you don t get the same waitress again.

The rudest waitress I ve met in Canada so far. Brunette waitress with tattoos on her hand was terribly rude and unrespectful. First she didn t serve my partner a pint of beer and he is 33 and never had a problem being identified as below 18 on a recent years. I also have shown my ID as a 30 years old and explained that we are together. We politely asked her to check his electronic ID and she rudely refused to. So my husband had to take a cab and spend extra money and time ( about 1 hour) to take this ID. And during this time she was very weird and rude, taking away menu without explanation and barely hiding her dislike. Maybe she had a bad day, but why she had such an attitude like we were some genZ kids that want to trick her. We ve paid extra money for the table because it was a concert and just wanted to have fun, so we have no idea why she was like that. And after all her attitude she came with tips included bill , and when were paying by card it asked for a tips again. It was absolutely unpleasant experience in terms of service.

At first we had this Courtney girl as our server the MOST RUDE IGNURNT server i have EVER SEEN..My wife went inside as we were sitting on the patio and she brought a drink out and sat it on our table i asked her what it was because I didnt know my wife ordered anything and when I asked her that her reply was YOU DIDNT ORDER IT SO F_ _k Off and dont worry about it. She should be let go and work somewhere not around people. My wife requested a different server and we got Mia and she absolutely rocked. She was awesome and the food was Amazing!!! THANK YOU MIA for your Fantastic service and Hospitality!!!

The servers did not see to us after being seated. We waited 10 minutes for anyone to greet us or bring us water - and we were only attended to after we actively flagged a server down despite them walking past our table multiple times. Once we had a server attending our table there were no further issues, food was good and service was standard. Nothing to outstanding about the experience but nothing bad either (once we had a server).

Had pizza n beer for lunch. Service was fast, efficient and friendly. The flat bread pizzas were great.

The website shows that they are open, however they are not. The hours for Wednesdays are 7am to 11 pm I was there at 09:50 and I was told they are closed. Perhaps they are ok with wasting peoples time and energy. A good way to loose customers.

Came in with a group of work colleagues and ordered the prawns and pizza - I have never been so sick from food poisoning. Pass.

Server didn t exist. Not a single refill for the table. The portions are kinda small to be honest. Rice was burnt and my steak was overcooked but the server never came so I just accepted my fate of enjoying overcooked steak and burnt rice. The flavour was good from what I could taste through the burnt taste. Womp womp

Great atmosphere and good vibes all around but the food was horrible . I got the paella and I wish I didn t , extremely burnt dish . Our server was good but had a little attitude for no reason at all . May come back one day but who knows .

Although theres nothing special about kale, there are 2 places that make me dream about their kale salad, and Barcelona Tavern is one of them. Pair with a smoked Old Fashioned. Yes, even if its at lunch time. You wont regret it. Their patio in the summer is the place to be.

Decent space for our work functions, but awful customer service. The staff did nothing to help me look for personal items I had left there the night before. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Stopped in for dinner and drinks after business meetings and found a gem in downtown Calgary. I ordered an old fashioned and paella for the main course and wasnt disappointed! Alex, the bartender made top notch drinks and is well versed and knowledgeable about history, business and technology. Ill certainly be back the next time Im in town!

Went for lunch here food and service was horrible staff including Manager James was very unhelpful and had a aggressive argumental demeanor very rude and arrogant I would never come and eat here again and suggest this place to NO one they dont care about there customers what so ever and run a Zoo of a restaurant if you like Horrible food and Arrogant people then this is the place to come for lunch

Went for lunch with friends the other day and was pretty disappointed with the wagu burger. It was hard and dry and had a slice of hard dry cheese on it. The look of the cheese was as if you sliced it and then let it sweat on the counter for 12 hours, weird choice to put in a burger. The flavour wasn t awful, but it resembled a microwaved McDonald s patty, in that it was difficult to bite and chew and left bits stuck in my teeth. Our server was alright, it was busy so we didn t complain, but they didn t do a quality check and forgot to keep the bacon off my friend s salad. I probably won t be back. That said, the atmosphere was trendy and decorated nicely, maybe a better spot for a drink instead of a meal.

The waitress was inattentive and very disorganized, the bill automatically charged 20% for each of 12 people and the service was terrible. We will not celebrate or visit this place again.

Went for a business lunch... we had a ton of appetizers before our meal. The dry Greek ribs were amazing,. Had the chicken burger for my main and it was great. Food : 5/5

haven t been in awhile and went for after work dinner & drinks with colleagues. good food & drinks, and good prices and specials for happy hour! the pitchers of sangria are delicious on a hot summer day, looking forward to coming back when it warms up

We had a great time at the Barcelona. The played mostly Latin music, the dance floor was packed. Our server was amazing, she kept on checking on us! We will definitely come back here. It was Saturday night and there was an entry fee of $10

The food is good I guess.

Solid place for food and a cool vibe. The Wagyu burger was tasty but my patty was not as juicy as I was expecting. But the Cesar and the fries were really good. Would come back! Also breakfast is back as well so that s cool.

I have been here for several sports matches the atmosphere is pretty good and the food is excellent, really recommend a place

I came last weekend for my birthday dinner. The staff were great, we received good service. Our server was friendly and made great drink recommendations. They were able to accommodate our large group easily. Convenient location as well. The patatas bravas and Lettuce wraps were excellent.

Over priced food was soso service was not good either.

The food is delicious, the Saturday night atmosphere with a Latin party is very good and the service is friendly and attentive, you just have to be careful that the receipt corresponds to the consumption.

From all the restaurants weve been to worldwide, this place is still top 5 in our books. The food, staff and overall atmosphere of Barcelona Tavern is amazing! Highly recommend the Black Filet Mignon paired with a BCN Mule to drink, as well as the Garlic Cheese Poppers for your starter!

My girlfriend and I arrived at Barcelona Tavern on Saturday March 25th at 8:45pm after the Dr. Dre orchestra show down at the Palace. Upon arrival at Barcelona, we were seated in the 2 seater section in between the front and back of the restaurant. I had asked to be moved to a different location in the main restaurant to a table that looked available but was told we couldn t sit there because there was a Latin show later in the night. We ordered a pitcher of Red Sangria to share as our beverage and the drink was good. My girlfriend ordered the chicken and parpadelle dish, while I ordered the Messi burger and fries, food was mediocre at best. During our dining experience while eating our meals we were approached my a man and women promoting the Latin show in the restaurant and was asked if we wanted to partake in Latin night and that it was a $20 cover charge each. I was a little taken back as I would assume that since we were in the restaurant prior to Latin night having dinner that we would be exempt. I feel like it s pretty unprofessional to ask customers while dining, I declined and was told that we would need to move to the back of the restaurant if we didn t pay the cover, needless to say it felt like we were on a beach in Mexico getting accosted by the locals selling trinkets on the beach. Reluctantly, we paid the $40 and received a green flappy wristband. After dinner, we decided to leave our seats and go stand by the bar for a final drink before heading home for the night. We ordered a strawberry margarita and a corona from the female bartender and I was paying upfront for the drinks. I was provided the debit machine with the totals already input on the machine for $22.50, I thought that was strange that there was no tip option, not to mention the cost for the two drinks. I asked for a copy of the receipt to which I received my debit receipt, I then asked for the itemized receipt and after a bunch of fumbling around it was handed over to me, only to find out that the bartender added her own $3.60 tip to my bill before having me pay. The entire experience left a really bad taste in my mouth for being accosted to hand over money while eating dinner and then being taken for a ride by the bartender for her own thieving benefit. I used to frequent this place during the lunch hour and had nothing but great things to say, but after last night I ll never go back.

We called in at 430pm on a Saturday. Really quiet, but we happen to know that this place rocks later in the evening! We loved the menu: lots of interesting choices, and we felt that the price point was right. No gouging going on! As an example the wagyu burger and fries was $18. I had the Greek salad with blackened chicken and halloumi, see pic. The truffle fries are a classic here, to die for! One of my party ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail, they made one of their choosing, she loved it, and it was only $6. Very fair. Our server Madison was awesome. Barcelona has been a staple here for at least a decade, so thats a good sign.

The food, service and atmosphere were all great at Barcelona. However, I felt that the pricing was fairly high and I would have liked to see a lunch menu with more affordable options. I had the Alberta Greens salad with steak. I could have chosen a less expensive protein but it was only a few dollars more than prawns so I went for it. Overall, my meal was SO DELICIOUS but as I mentioned earlier, I wish it had been more affordable. I wont be back again for lunch unless there is a lunch menu. A shame since I work next door and I would love to have lunch here more often with co-workers.

Came in with my wife for a little date night. We dont get out much so we really try to make the most out of it. When we came in we spoke with the manager Dominick, he gave us incredible food recommendations. He really made the night special for us both and we will definitely be coming back for more date nights!

In general, the atmosphere is cool and the service is at a good level, but there are not enough ingredients and sauce in the burger, and the potatoes are very salty, it is impossible to eat them. The caesar salad had no sauce, and it spoiled the impression of the salad. Cocktails were good

Went there with colleagues for lunch and the restaurant was so noisy we couldnt hear each other. Virtual menu is not mobile friendly. I ordered the Greek village salad. The presentation was great. The halloumi was thin and hard (should be soft and tender) and the blackened chicken was the same - very thin overcooked pieces. The flavours of the salad seemed to work against each other...an odd combination of fermented, sweet, and savoury. My co-workers seemed to be enjoying their food so perhaps I just picked the dud on the menu. Im quite familiar with Mediterranean food and this just missed the mark. The table service was great. Servers were fantastic and very attentive although a bit quick to remove the drinks but it didnt matter much because there are free refills on the iced tea. When I called later to make an inquiry about the menu, the person who answered was very rude and hung up without saying goodbye.

Nice place, good food. I had the steak and shrimp paella and it was delicious! A bit greasy but yummy nonetheless. Sat on the patio for lunch. Is nicely slightly shaded at lunchtime. I m like that you can make reservations at this restaurant.

Had a date night here and it was so fun. Delicious food and drinks and the staff is super friendly.

We came for a work lunch, reservations was easy, able to accommodate 15 people with a big table. Service was great, always ready to help our table. Food itself was amazing too, definitely get the pork ribs for appetizer, chicken wings were also really good. The cauliflower was flavourful, wish it was cut up beforehand. As for the mains, the seafood paella was amazing, I wish it did have more paella though.

It has a definite market that having lived in Europe the last 30yrs eludes me. Staff were lovely though.

Went here for lunch and two people in our group ordered the lettuce wrap, however was given the chicken sandwich instead. When we pointed this out, the waitress proceeded to gaslight us saying thats what we ordered in the first place despite everyone else in the group confirming this wasnt the case. They couldnt even eat the chicken sandwich due to their gluten allergies. They never ended up getting the correct order before lunch was over and left hungry. I get mistakes with orders happens and lunchtime is busy, but gaslighting our group saying this is what we ordered and not correcting it is unacceptable. Cant say too much about the food because we didnt get to eat it. Very disappointed.

I visited a Mediterranean restaurant in Calgary, Canada with a friend after work. The ambiance was cozy, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors of the Mediterranean. They had a great selection of craft beers, which was a delightful choice for beer enthusiasts like me. The dishes we ordered consisted of fresh seafood and had a perfect balance of seasonings that left me impressed with the burst of flavors in my mouth. Along with the enjoyable conversation with my friend, it was a relaxing way to unwind after a busy day. The experience of Mediterranean cuisine in Calgary was truly wonderful.

Not much I can say about this place other than its a 12 out of 10. Okay, I might say a bit more than that. If you are looking for an alternative to the standard cookie-cutter places like National, Joeys, Cactus Club or Earls, then this is the spot for you. I do enjoy the former places but they are all the same. High prices, the exact same menus, same décor in high profile locations. Barcelona Tavern surprised me with two things: 1) The menu. They offer unique bar food other than your trendy/standard burger, poke bowl, and gyoza (you know, the typical Joeys stuff). They have a ROCKSTAR fried chicken burger. The best dry ribs I have eaten. Solid steak sandwich and a classic beef burger that blew my clothes nearly off. 2) The quality of food. I was blown away by the quality of the food. Its a bar so yes, its bar food but its fancy bar food. One of my favourite bars from back in the day was Hudsons in Oliver (YEG) because it was a pub, bar, club and good restaurant. Not many places can pull this off and maintain it but Barcelona has done just that. I found a place where I can go with clients, my partner, my family and get quality food, and good vibes at one of the best locations in all of Calgary.

Kid-friendliness: No childrens menu, no high chairs and the kitchen or server forgot my 1 year Old meal (The most important meal!). She had to wait 30mins. I would not recommend bringing your children here Food

When I moved back to a downtown Calgary job, I was thrilled to see that Barcelona had succeeded in surviving the pandemic and staying relevant, and its no surprise why- Consistently good creative food and service on one of the busiest corners in the core. A lesser effort would have failed but Jeff and team know how to draw diners in during the lunch time - keep it fun, delicious and quick - and theyve done it for a long time now. Glad to be back and thanks for being there Barcelona

Very loud restaurant but food was great, service was quick and prices were very fair!

Just stopped off for a drink, lovely staff good atmosphere.

The beef and shrimp paella was delicious. The bacalao tapas was interesting - seems like deep fried ball fish covered in sauce. For drinks, Kahlua seemed overpowering on my espresso martini. Moscow mule was decent - quite a small drink though.

I always wanted to go in here, but I just got the opportunity this past week. The service was pretty good considering that it was Stampede week. Being a Messi fan, I had no doubt that I should try the Messi burger, and true to the name, it was one of the best burgers that I ever had. Had a great seat outside, but they were very prompt in getting me a seat at the bar just before it started pouring. Try it!!!!!

More than amazing. The Blackened Chiken Paella was delicious. We went 2 days in a row, and we rarely do that. We got served food even when the kitchen was about to close. This restaurant made our trip to Calgary even more enjoyable. Try it.

The paella is really quite awesome. Waited a long time after we sat to get a menu and it was loud inside making it difficult to have a conversation.

Nice cocktails, calamari may be the best Ive ever had. So good that maybe it wasnt calamari? Wheres the rubbery texture? Prawns were delish as well. Service was pleasant and prompt. Will try again

Came for our anniversary dinner! We couldn t decide so we got a few things and were blown away by each dish. Will definitely be back. Service was great as well!

The food was not good, I ordered a chicken sandwich and the bottom bun was so soaked with grease that when I touched it the grease pooled around my fingers. My partner ordered the lettuce wraps and were treated to the completely unadvertised detail that you need to assemble the wrap yourself, while obviously not a massive issue, it highlights multiple issues with the labeling and transparency of the menu. We also ordered the spicy fries, not great btw, and we received the normal fries, which our waitress realized and switched out for us but still not great. The dishes were dirty looking when the food came out and it was just overall not a pleasant experience. The service was good enough but it was not very busy at all and it took so long for us to even get drinks. Our waitress was nice though and it appeared that she also had a large table to deal with so I do not hold that against her and truly think think the slow service was due to the kitchen and bar staff for the most part. I would not suggest and I will not be going back.

Its too bad that I feel I cant rate my first experience a higher rating. The food and drinks were great but the service sucked. The server showed her bad attitude all over her face. When we came to the restaurant there was hardly anyone there but it took forever to get food and drink ordered then forever for the drinks and food to come. So sad that service can wreck a rating for a restaurant.

This restaurant bar is spacious with many tables and an excellent location in downtown Calgary. The staff was friendly at all times. The menu is varied9 and the foods we ordered tasted good. When we went there was a promotion for a shot of tequila for $5CA

The ambiance is not the greatest as the noise is trapped indoors, and customer service is just regular. There are few vegetarian options on the menu and the prices of the food are quite high.

Food was okay. We were a large group and very well cared for the entire night. They were very friendly and helpful and the food was served relatively quickly, all at once, and all warm. They accommodated us despite the constantly changing number of people at dinner.

The food is good, the girls attention is very friendly. High price but in Calgary food in general is expensive. If I would return.

We brought our remote team together for a couple of days and spent the evening here grazing on appies and having a few drinks, along with a lot of laughs. Its a great location, but if youre coming from out of downtown parking (and, currently traffic) can be an obstacle. The food was good, we had all of the pizzas, some wings, cauliflower, and jalapeno poppers. We had two dedicated servers (Sam and Zena), they were amazing and took such good care of us. It was a Wednesday night and not very busy, the few tables that were full seemed to be groups of work buddies enjoying a few drinks. I can see where this place would be hopping on a Friday night after work downtown.
