My partner and I have been here several times already living just a few minutes walk away. We were lucky to stumble upon Tamarind. This is the best Indian food in the entire city! I order from here almost every week and every dish I have tried is fantastic! My favorites are the coconut chicken, Aloo Gobi, coconut rice, tamarind rice, and veggie pakora! This is a must try restaurant if youre in the NW of Calgary! We have been looking for a new Indian restaurant in this area and settled on Tamarind due to proximity. It was a Friday night, busy and despite not having a reservation, they found us a table quickly. The interior of the premises is clean, warm and cosy and the staff are very attentive. The menu was decent but as it was our first time, we both picked familiar dishes so we knew what to expect. The food arrived very quickly but didnt feel like it had been reheated, so in my opinion, was definately made fresh and was very pleasant. The prices were very reasonable and we were both very happy with every aspect of the business. Atmosphere, staff, menu, food quality, price. I cant find any fault in anything, so a well earned 5 star from me! That was my earlier review. I have now been coming for nearly two years and the food and service have only improved. Our new waitress, Val, was awesome, so friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We continue to enjoy this restaurant and the addition of the lovely staff has only elevated it.

Vegetarian options: I have tried a lot of Indian restaurants but tamarind s Kadai Paneer and Baingan Bharta is amazing. If you like Indian food then you must try it at least once., 31 Oct 2024 - I ordered kadai paneer but they gave me shahi paneer what the heck . And it clearly mentioned in my order and they write on Lid as well poor guy very disappointed

Tamarind used to be our go-to spot, but after tonight s experience, we won t be returning. We went for dinner with our kids, and the food was a complete letdown. One dish was undercooked, and despite sending it back, they still had the nerve to charge us for it. To make matters worse, my son ended up with an upset stomach after we got home. Save your money and go somewhere else this place is no longer the Tamarind we once loved.

The food was unfortunately average. Im surprised by the high ratings. The flavors were off, and too much food coloring was used to mask a lack of taste. We ordered vegetarian dishes and naan, and the sirke wale piaj (pickled onions) were particularly disappointing. I recommend exploring other options

Being a visitor here, we had amazing experience here. Everything was too delicious. We ordered dal makhani butter chicken And veg noodles. Specially noodles was too good. Perfectly made indo chinese style. We were so happy we had dinner packed from here as well

Ive generally loved their food, but recently ordered via Uber eats; order included chicken lollipop and chicken tikka masala. Chicken Lollipop was quite unflavourful, dry and had a peculiar stale taste. Chicken tikka masala was just okay.

Food is alright but service is non-existent which really makes the visit disappointing. Butter chicken was very sweet. Appetizer platter and vegetarian dishes are good.

We ordered the Biryani Rice with goat meat, which was incredibly tender. Best dish ever, so flavourful! And the service was excellent. Thank you to the kitchen crew and staff for an amazing meal and experience. We will definitely go back!! Stay blessed.

Oh my God, if this is not one of the best Indian restaurants in town, I dont know what is. They even have unique items you dont find at the other restauranots. The symphony of flavors...OMG! So flavorful, so creative so delicious and the staff are so friendly; in a unique-chique atmosphere...impressive! I live downtown, but dont mind traveling all the way here every time I feel like having a to-die-for stimulation of the taste buds!!! The waitress Noor is great. I hope you get her if you come here. Shes a priceless addition to the whole experience! Thank you Tamarind & thank you Noor!

Great spot to have friends for dinner, very clean, calm ambiance, and very polite service. Meat is from a halal supplier. All the staff took a lot of care to ask about our dietary preferences and also confirm if we wanted butter on our breads. Food came out very quickly like within 15 minutes of ordering and taste was good, there is a lot of variety between Indian, desi-Chinese and vegetarian options. We ordered the chicken 65 and chili mushroom and were happy that the food is not like sweet Indian food!

This place has been my go to place ever since i moved here. The food, the people and the service everything is exceptional always but they went above and beyond last night, we went there 5-10 mins after the kitchen was closed and the owner and chefs extended the time just to prepare food for us with just a single request. Hats off to their Service and thanks a ton for the delicious food, as always.

Recently ate at Tamarind after reading suggestions on the FB group, Calgary Food. We were not disappointed in the quality, portion size, service and price. My husband who loves his goat curry, thought it was the best hed had in Calgary so far. The sweet and sour eggplant could have been more sour than sweet but nevertheless still delicious. So too, were the fish pakoras drenched in a tasty chickpea batter. We got in for an early meal at 5pm and just missed the rush. It sure gets busy. Could do with more staff as the two lovely servers were run off their feet, taking orders, pouring drinks, clearing tables, bringing food to the tables, etc. It is also an extremely popular take-out place. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating in booths and at tables. A gem of a place. Horrible experience. Went out to celebrate my sister in law getting her new job and the waiter spilt a mango lasi on me. It was his first day so it was okay. He was a nice guy. What was not okay was the senior staff not showing any signs of remorse or offering any compensation for my clothes getting spoiled or the liquid on my phone. We ordered Daal, Raita and Naan. The first batch of Daal was fantastic, 10 out of 10, the second order we ordered however was 1 out of 10. Overall I personally wont be going back and would not recommend it to anyone else.

It is one of the best places for Indian foods in the NW Calgary. Just stepped in with no expectations, and I loved the experience. At first, I noticed their menu price list is cheap and affordable for everyone We ordered garlic naan, Tandoori Roti, chicken lollipop, fish Pakora, Shahi Paneer gravy, and bubbly chicken gravy. Honestly, its one of the best garlic naan(taste, portion size, and price. Shahi paneer gravy was also good (but portion size is less compared to their generous naan) Chicken lollipop is the one which I dont like much as it was a bit harder and not juicy inside. Fish pakora was good Bubly chicken gravy base tasted the same as shahi Paneer. The attender was very friendly with a smiley face. Overall, its a great dining experience, and I loved their price point.
