220 42 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 1Y4, Canada
Posh fine-dining venue featuring globally inspired dishes, housemade desserts & a large wine list.
We visited for my birthday dinner on a Friday night. The meal was fantastic and everything was cooked perfectly but the service left something to be desired. For the prices that you pay, I would expect more attentiveness and friendliness. We also added in our reso it was a special occasion (birthday) and we got probably the worst table in the restaurant. We actually noticed a few other people ask to swap tables - the setup is odd for a higher end restaurant. All in all it’s a good restaurant but the service seemed off and the seating could be better.
One of the BEST restaurants in Calgary. The food was spectacular, atmosphere top notch and the service ourstanding. We even had the owner #Uri Heilik. come by for a visit-the owner and staff were so very charming . Highly recommended 🧡⭐️
The meal is already great. Plus, the waitress is very attentive that increased the value of this meal.
My wife and I shared the seared digby scallops for a starter; they were melt-in-your mouth perfect. For mains she had the duck breast with yuzu bread pudding, grilled bok choy, rhubarb and gochujang bbq sauce; I had the braised short rib in tomato & balsamic reduction with white cheddar mashed potatoes and broccolini. Both were plated beautifully, served at the right temperature, and done just right. Everything paired well with a Kiona Vineyards Riesling 2022. For dessert we shared a matcha cheese cake with cookie crumb, yuzu chantilly, and micro anise. Our server was pleasantly attentive throughout the evening, answered all of our questions about the menu, and handled our table of 8 efficiently. The interior is beautiful! We had a superb experience overall.
Had the good fortune of attending a retirement party here last night. I had never been here before although I have driven by many times. It is hidden away from the busy road by bushes and trees. It is a well-hidden gem of a restaurant that is absolutely perfect for hosting private events. The atmosphere and decor are beautiful and stylish, while the staff are absolutely attentive and professional. Their staff has oodles of experience so you will get a level of service that you are not used to getting in other restaurants. The appetizers were served hot or chilled depending on the items and the staff were on top of collecting the discarded serviettes and skewers. Now that I know that it exists I will endeavor to come back for dinner or even host a party of my own here.
Appetizers were good and main dishes were decent. Service was not up to expectations. Took a long time to get Diet Pepsi refill and by the time I got it, I was finished my main course. Atmosphere is ok… lots of tables in a small amount of space.
Are you looking for a beautiful restaurant for any sort of celebration? Then I think you should consider Alloy. My spouse and I were greeted warmly by the hostess and promptly shown to our table. It was a circular wooden table surrounded by an off white leather banquette seat. If you’re lucky, David H will be your server too. He was exceptional. Our questions were thoughtfully answered and our meal was perfect. The atmosphere was exactly what a celebratory meal should be. We enjoyed the meal which was flavourful, well cooked, and perfectly plated. We can’t wait to return with our family and friends.
Dined in with a group of four who have not eaten here before and we were quite surprised at the experience. There are quite a few mixed reviews, some praising the food but also some with a negative experience. The restaurant interior is quite nice, and the service was good. Wine selection is good. However, when our food came out we were all surprised at simply the lack of flavour. Something was missing and we couldn’t quite figure it out. Almost like the food was under seasoned. Which was disappointing as some reviews speak very highly of this restaurant and never mind the cost of the food. The gnocchi was quite good and the surf and turf was just okay. Perhaps it was an off day, but for four not very picky eaters to unanimously agree that food was blend has to account for something?
I went to my company Christmas party here and I must say, it was spectacular. The food was so delicious and there was so much!! The appetizers just kept coming and coming. Also the staff is very friendly and attentive. The dining room was also nicely lit. I appreciate when a restaurant is adequately lit and I can see the person across from me. Over all AMAZING!!
Food was excellent - a very busy place so a bit loud for conversation.
Went to a Christmas party there. The food was okay, the reviews set a very high explanation that was not met, but the food was good . The service was okay, the staff were withdrawn and very quiet. The restaurant was nice inside, but with only hard surfaces it was very loud. I will try I agin as a normal customer, to see if this was a one time experience.
Our client celebrated their annual Holiday Celebration at Alloy restaurant. We provided DJ and Phobooth services for them. The coordination for setup of our equipments with Alloy was smooth. They provided what we need in terms of space , power and tables . They serve as delicious food and lots of water, pop and juice to get us going for the entire night. If you are a company and looking for a venue to celebrate your stampede or Christmas party, I highly recommend Alloy Restaurant - Rebooth Entertainment Inc Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs and very flat so wheel chair and stroller friendly.
All around amazing experience.
Probably the best food and service Ive experienced in a very long time. Staff was next level and food was quick and blew our minds. Atmosphere is very differant than anywhere - its spacious with amazing art and decorations done to perfection. Highly highly recommend.
First time at Alloy went for my wifes birthday the server forget to put in our dinner order. Had to sit around for 50-60min while others seated much later than us finished their dinners and left. When the food did arrive its quality suffered slightly due to being a rushed order. No gesture to try and acknowledge or make up for the mistake was made. The atmosphere is decent, food is good, service was rough. I dont think well be returning anytime soon.
Had a fantastic lunch at Alloy! Our server Greg was top notch; super attentive to detail, made it such a pleasant experience for us! Thanks Alloy!!
First time at Alloy and enjoyed immensely. Beautiful interior, delicious food and our server, Greg, was fantastic. We found the dining room to be quite loud but otherwise no complaints. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for gluten sensitivities.
My wife and I had an extraordinary dining experience at Alloy. The cuisine was nothing short of exceptional, with each dish offering a symphony of flavors that left a lasting impression. The atmosphere is modern and sophisticated, reminiscent of a hidden gem where one might expect to spot a celebrity unwinding with a cocktail. Our server, Shannan, was delightful warm, attentive, and engaging, which only enhanced the overall experience. Alloy is the kind of place that invites you to return, promising memorable evenings time and time again.
Amazing experience with the tasting menu. David was exceptional and all the food was outstanding. Scallops were the highlight of the night
Best gnocchi in the city! Arctic char was crispy and delicious. It doesnt look like much in the outside but inside its warm and inviting and food is always really good.
Amazinnng fooooddd!!!!
A very mid experience. Complimentary hummus & Naan bread appetizer was neither good nor bad, however odd. I dont come to nice restaurants to eat the same food I pack in my lunch kit. We ordered marinated olives and Truffle Gnocchi to start. Olives were similar to chewing bark off a tree. Which isnt exactly appealing. Gnocchi had nice classic flavour, however zero texture in the Gnocchi it self. Like eating truffle mashed potatoes, which isnt terrible, but for the $19 price tag I would expect proper execution. Mains we shared were Short Rib and Halibut. These were much more on point with great flavour and technique, but not exactly reinventing the wheel. Price tags of $45 and $49 respectively, seem a bit steep but so is everything these days. My wife ordered a cocktail that had a bit of a funny smell to it which we both assumed was egg white, despite not listing that in the ingredients. When we inquired, we were told no egg white and no offer to replace drink so she was just left with a funny smelling drink. Also she unfortunately noticed that her water glass had a massive crack running all the way around it as we were leaving. Thankfully she didnt drink from it. Service was attentive.
Beautiful atmosphere with a very chic and modern design. Staff was amazing; very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Food was very tasty, unique flavors that excites the pallet. Palled Was a great way to spend our anniversary. Will highly recommend going again.
We came for a late dinner last night to celebrate our anniversary. The food was extraordinarily good and we very much look forward to returning!
Been many times, love the patio with a few glasses of wine
this place was nice looking from the inside. food was absolutely terrible. portion sizeS for the price was insane in a bad wayy prices were crazy high food was so bland. the service was just not up to par. the waitress had a rude tone and was just so rude and we HAD TO TIP 20% as we had a party or 6. just because we have to provide a tip doesnt mean u can provide us bad service period.I wish i didn t have to-tip at ALL.
I wanted to try Alloy for a long time and had high expectation. I had mixed feelings about this restaurant. Interior is very beautiful. The Short Rib Pasta is very flavourful and delicious. The seafood risotto is great. Service was ok. But one thing threw off the experience. I had ordered the Beef Tartare as an appetizer and when our main dishes arrived, I asked the server (not sure he is the manager) about our appetizer. He told me it is coming. No apology. The tartare ended up being mediocre at best. It was under seasoned all around with the potato croquette base being bland and the topping tartare missing sauce and flavor.
Alloy was so accommodating of our booking with a kiddo. We turned a conference trip into a catch up and a special night with this incredible meal and service. From the cocktails to the short rib and the desserts, everything was delicious. We had a memorable evening!
alloy recently hosted our wedding reception and nuptuals. Every aspect of our celebrations turned out perfectly wonderful! Uri was extremely attentive from my initial inquiry and provided timely, honest, seamless and impeccable professionalism throughout the entire process. He made the planning and delivery very easy for us. We just showed up! Our guests were very impressed with the food, drinks, private party area and most of all with our server, David, who has an incredible ability to serve a multitude of guests with exemplary flair and charm simultaneously while making it look easy. Thank you, alloy, for creating such a memorable wedding celebration for us. Dietary restrictions: gluten, peanut
Went for a wedding. Amazing food and everyone was very polite and friendly
Terrible dining experience ruined a celebration evening for us. Rude, robotic, blonde Slavic waitress hates her life and her job. Didnt care that we were there to have a dining experience. Extremely slow service. Scallop, and prawn tempura appetizers were good. Thats it. The main course fish was non existeny, about the size of a flat dollar e inch pizza and the risotto was not true risotto but sloppy wet rice. My friends pork chop was supposed to be medium but was dry and overcooked. All dished were 35% more expensive than comparable restaurants. Extremely lousy service, overpriced, and below average food.
Always great service, food and atmosphere! One of the best restaurants in Calgary!
Nice variety of dishes that were very well presented
The patio is open! Heat lamps over each table turned a chilly spring lunch into a comfy one. Seafood risotto, olives, hummus, and mocktail were light enough so I could go back to work without feeling weighed down. Alloy never disappoints.
From the moment you walk in Alloy is hospitality. The service, wine selections and the menu are best in class. Always a wonderful experience and feeling when coming here.
Alloy Restaurant is a culinary gem in Calgary. This place has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff . The flavors were bold and rich, and the presentation was impressive. The portion size was generous. Overall, Alloy Restaurant exceeded my expectations. I cant wait to go back and try more of their creative dishes!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Alloy and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and cozy, setting the perfect tone. The menu offered a delightful array of options, each more appealing than the last. After much deliberation, I chose the Ghocchi and braised beef and garlic mashed potatoes. The dishes were heavenly. Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was impeccable as well. The staff were attentive and funny. To top it all off, the dessert menu was a true masterpiece. I indulged in the Kalua cheese cake, and it was nothing short of amazing. Rich, decadent, and utterly satisfying. Overall, my experience was flawless. I highly recommend this restaurant. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. Thank you, Alloy, for a wonderful birthday experience.
Just had a wonderful lunch for a special occasion here for my 1st visit. Great food, amazing service and would be back again soon!
Alloy is always a first class experience. The menu is full of interesting items and combinations that either make you go What is that? Or I cant believe they combined those two together. The results are always incredible and pair well with their expansive drink menu. The outside of the building, looks like a forestry office or a water treatment facility but inside it has some of the best restaurant decor in the city. The place feels quiet and spacious, even when its full. Overall a high recommendation. Easily one of the best spots in the city for upscale dining.
Best time to go is early before the rush.
Nice atmosphere and excellent service. Food was disappointing, especially in regards to the cost. Truffle Gnocchi - way too rich, no balance whatsoever. Seared Ahi Tuna - bland. served on lettuce and under the lettuce was what resembled italian dressing. Pork Belly - This was actually a pretty good dish, i enjoyed this. Braised Short Rib - Very dry. There are many other restaurants I would rather go to at this price point.
Short ribs were delicious. Service was great. Oreo desert was really good with the dark chocolate. Duck breast was very tender and with a sweet tone. Truffle gnocchi were great too.
The truffle gnocchi is to die for!! So good. The duck was only okay, way too much dressing and salt. Hubby had the short ribs, he said they were dry. The food needs a little more attention to detail but the service is excellent.
The restaurant was the worst except for the food. The server was the rudest person Ive ever encountered in my life. The blonde caucasian woman didnt even introduce herself, served our table with an angry face and voice without even basic greetings. She took our orders without any explanation or recommendations about the restaurant menu, then quickly disappeared. When serving wine without a tray by hand, it felt like cheap restaurant service, not a fine dining establishment.
Definitely worth a visit. Comfortable atmosphere, great service and outstanding food. Very good wine list as well.
Frozen shrimp
Everything was outstanding! The food was phenomenal! An extremely classy restaurant. Yet we were not rushed or hurried in any way. Our waiter, Greg, was professional and such a sweetheart! Thank you for making our rather large party, feel so comfortable!
Went there last night to celebrate our anniversary was an amazing dinner the food was delicious, and the service was super good, David helped us yesterday and he is an amazing host!
Great staff, amazing atmosphere and wonderful food! Would definitely be coming back!
Entree was pork and too under-cooked for me. I didnt complain but explained to server why I hadnt finished it, and he insisted on fixing it. It came back still under cooked and the second time it appeared that the chef was upset and delivered something completely inedible. I have lots of experience eating in nice restaurants and im sensitive to the pressures chefs face in dealing with demanding guests. But, this was off-putting and disappointing. Wont be returning soon.
Food was incredible! Gnocchi is to die for and was unexpected. This place is no joke they know how to cook stellar dishes. The chicken was perfectly cooked, soft, moist. Service could have been a little better but it was busy and didnt ruin our dinner of course and I was in good company.
Great food. Very nice staff and services.
Wonderful Lunch. A great spot for a classic fine dining lunch experience. Service was great, food was excellent, decor and ambiance were classy and fun.
Elegant atmosphere, great service from our lovely waiter Jorge, he is very knowledgeable, attentive and pays attention to little details! We are very grateful for having him to be our server ! The lamb main dish is mouthwateringly delicious!
We went there for our Christmas party. The food was exceptional. Great venue.
What a gem!
Had a 2022 Christmas party. Ordered tomato salad, gnocchi and caramel rum cake. Gnocchi were terribly disappointing. Very salty and tough. The caramel rum cake was the worst cake I have had in a long time. Wondering if the chef actually tastes the food before serving it to their customers. The square cake was placed on top of barely any rum sauce, 1/2 teaspoon, slivers of white chocolate and 2 tablespoons of vanilla ice cream. The cake itself was extremely dry, unflavoured. Service was very good and friendly though.
Great restaurant, great food, was here not too long ago, I recommend to everyone, the chefs create very delicious food!
Service was outstanding. The food was top level too. We had the beef tar tar and gnocchi to start and had the roasted chicken and steak for the mains. Loss a star because steak came out undercooked. The chicken was done perfect . Wanted to try the desert but the boss wasn t having it I m sure it was fantastic too
Our server was off the night we went. Messed up a couple times. Would still go again. Not cheap but great food and a neat place to eat.
Took my significant other for dinner. Was not disappointed. A place to go back to for date nights
Great ambiance and food. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and a great place to meet friends or go for a date night. Parking was not easy to find but it was close to Christmas and very busy.
One of the best places to eat in YYC. Always great food.and service.
Wonderful service today and food was very tasty. Our group shared some appetizers: gnocchi, shrimp, and ginger beef. All very good. Finished with the beef meatloaf. Almost as good as moms.
Got a free christmas dinner from my gfs company. Both the food and service were good. Too bad she didnt get a bonus.
I know that it s hard to get staff at the moment, however we should have hit up McDonald s for exceptional service. Our server had no product knowledge, no wine knowledge, and literally no pleasantries. I ve had a good experiences at Alloy before. Maybe this was an isolated incident?
This place looks like a generic no-public-allowed grey building from the outside, but inside its a high class restaurant. While the food tasted good, there was nowhere near enough of it, and its expensive. This is the kind of place you take the company credit card to and have a great time at a business meeting
great place high quality service and menu
Upscale decor with good service. Tried (almost) everything on their dinner menu as of December 2022. Overall notes: photogenic plating but the flavor didn t match up unfortunately and we were left wanting more excitement from most of the starters and mains. One of the more memorable items was the braised beef short ribs. Plates came out a little lukewarm and probably could ve spent a little less time sitting at the service window or maybe needed to use plate warmers/heaters.
Our server GREG was a GEM!!!!!! Omg I ve been in the industry for years and he was the best server I ve ever come across. The FOOD !!! HOLY !!!!!!!!!! I ll be drooling for the rest of the week
Had a great experience last night at Alloy. I wanted to send a shout out to our Server David. He was helpful, considerate, funny, and went above and beyond. The meal was sensational as well! Hats off to you all! Thanks for a great night!
Wow, the food was just so amazing! They really thought out their menu, because everything was so balanced. We had the gnocchi - to die for! And the service was wonderful. Will definitely be back.
The Duck was the best thing .. The salmon was okay . Truffle gnocchi was good but didn t know gnocchi had potatoes. Service was good . Really nice place
Recently went for lunch and it was fantastic, reasonably priced considering the quality. I plan on going again to try the dinner menu.
We had a fantastic time out as a family at Alloy. The atmosphere and decor were welcome, the service went above and beyond, martinis were spot on, and the food was beautiful. I had the beef short rib and prawn tempura. I want to have it all again, and try the duck.
Never disappoints.
Great service, great wine selection. Lots of cocktails to try. The atmosphere in the spot is really nice. It s also really big and the food comes out at a good time. The lamb chops were amazing and the gnocchi was really good. I wish they made the gnocchi in a main portion and not just a starter but I enjoy everything about this place. Definitely coming back.
The hospitality at Alloy is second to none. The atmosphere is wonderful, staff is incredibly nice, and the food is delicious. Its clear that this restaurant is the owners pride and joy. I am always delighted by Alloys creative and evolving drink menu. I highly recommend Alloy to anyone who is looking for a sophisticated and delicious restaurant.
This place is sooo delicious!! The outside is a bit different and I thought we were in the wrong place, but once inside it is beautiful!! Very classy and the food was amazing!! Everything we had was delicious and I would say top 5 restaurants I have tried in Calgary so far. The steak with lobster was fantastic, done perfectly and a definite new favorite!!
Came here for an overdue date with my wife. The server was very engaging and matched our energy level. The truffle gnocchi was delicious. We enjoyed the duck and lamb as our mains. I really enjoyed the duck dish as it blended a lot of flavours and textures very well. Sweet from the vanilla puree, tart from the cranberries, fresh relief with the kale and savory on the duck itself. Although I only tried a bite of the lamb, the mint chermoula was interesting and gave a little heat. This was a special treat for us and we quite enjoyed it. Would recommend to anyone looking for an upscale night out but not wanting to worry about feeling out of place.
Food is great. Building itself is so nice
The Appetizers were good, but the entrees were bland. The salad was cheaply made with lettuce just thrown onto a plate without any dressing. Our server only came by twice, and put our bottle of wine on a table across from ours so we couldnt pour ourselves wine. Our server also didnt seem too friendly and was blatantly cold to us, as the white people next to us seemed to be on a lot friendlier terms with our server. The drinks are pretty good, but the food is overpriced for what it is. Aps and drinks are good, food was mediocre, and the service wasnt that great.
Truffle gnocchi was absolutely delicious. I loved their tomato salad. Our server, Shannon, was friendly and professional.
Went for my birthday recently. I had the beef and my partner had the chicken. My beef short rib was amazing. Super tender, very tasty. Very happy with it. The chicken though was really disappointing. Very dry. Ive personally cooked better chicken many times at home. Given the price, I couldnt have been more disappointed. No high end restaurant should be over-cooking and drying out chicken like that. It was too bad. The tuna appetizer was fantastic, very light and fresh. The desert, chocolate pots du creme was not very exciting though. Kind of just melted chocolate and toffee in a bowl. I dont think either of us were blown away with it. Overall, it was good and Id probably come back? But having my only meal at alloy have a major component be a miss will most likely have me looking elsewhere for my next celebration. You just cant be missing like that at that price point.
Service was great, food tasty, the short rib melts in your mouth
Absolutely incredible. Always incredible. Everything - food, service, cocktails, wine list, atmosphere. Must visit 10/10
Excellent service. They treat you special. It was my best dining experience so far in Calgary. Their food arrived pretty quick and tasted soo good.
Had a great meal here. We ordered applies, the Truffle Gnocchi and Ahi Tuna Crudo amount others. They were wonderful, not the standard fare. I had the Duck Breast and thoroughly enjoyed it as well as a bite of the Caramel Rum Cake which isnt to be missed.
Had the duck and the salmon. Duck was a bit chewy for this price point of a restaurant. Salmon was good. Shrimp and gnocchi were the only amazing items on the appetizers menu, avoid the tartare.
Wow!!!! This was absolutely amazing. The service, the ambience, the wine, and holy moly the FOOD!!!! Any foodie needs to hit this place up. The lamb ribs were to die for, and my partner had the NY steak- also to die for!! This is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Calgary, and we will definitely be back frequently! Cannot say enough about how wonderful the entire experience was. Thank you to all staff at Alloy, you now have customers for life!
What a great hidden gem!! The service was amazing and the food incredible. Will definitely be back! Food
The food, the service - top notch
One of my favorite restaurants. Thank you serving high-end dishes and delivering exceptional service! Truly appreciate it! Food : 5/5
The food was pretty good and the service was on point.
5 stars for staff and atmosphere, 2 stars for food. Atmosphere was wonderful and the staff were very friendly, food presentation was excellent but the quality of the food was sub-par.. I ordered the pork striploin, which was supposed to have been medium and as it was sous vide I expected it to be tender, it was more on the well done side, dry and tough. I had to cut the pieces quite small so that I could chew them. The vegetables that came with it were enjoyable. I am of Italian decent and to me the polenta was quite disappointing as I was expecting something more grainy in texture but instead it was more like a thin/creamy mash potato. My wife and I were both disappointed with the gnocchi, both being Italian, we were expecting something that looked and tasted like gnocchi. It was my first and last time to Alloy, considering the prices I expected a higher quality food and I am not picky to which my wife can attest.
Good food. A bit noisy.
Fantastic food and service. One of the better restaurants in the city. Reservations are highly recommended.
We went there on a business meeting. First of all I have to say our server, Chad, was an absolute peach. Very attentive, friendly and also helpful. Exactly what I would expect from a place like this. The dinner was more like a hit and miss. As a starter I had the Beef tartar, there was too much stuff piled on the actual tiny portion of tartar. Though the sauces, cheese and additions were tasty, they just overwhelmed the actual beef taste. My friend had the scallops, which were absolutely awesome. Another friend had the Truffle Gnocchi, which were mediocre at best. For my main I had the NY Steak, even though the Chef recommended it medium rare and I ordered it that way it was a bit overcooked and everything with it did not have a lot of flavour. My friend ordered the lamb and it was so overcooked it was hard to even cut. Service 5 stars, food only 3. So I averaged it for 4 stars. A bit sad as this place seems to be high class.
Went here for our 5 year anniversary. I overlooked the last few reviews on here stating that that food has gone downhill. Ive heard theyve gone through a menu change recently. I wasnt really impressed with any of the dishes. The pork rib sauce wasnt great. The lamb was ok at most. There is nothing special about the goat cheese salad. Gnocchi was good but not spectacular. Will not be coming back, especially with how expensive everything is. Service is good, but the food needs to live up to the expectation.
One of the best restaurants in the city.... amazing food and service, cant recommend enough
Love it! We were in Calgary for a couple of days, and our friends recommended us this restaurant for dinner. The food was delicious! The team is a high-level service! Thank you, guys, for making this trip so much greater
We had high expectations, none of which were met. The service was great, but the food left a lot to be desired.
Would be nice to have a semi-private room to celebrate, so loud, we could not hear speeches, but everything else, was just lovely. Thank you kindly.
Food was very good
I was going to celebrate an upcoming anniversary here but someone worked here for 80 hours before being let go and the owner will not pay them. That s a pretty awful place to be spending money your money IMO. If you re constantly rated a top restaurant in Calgary then you should be able to pay your employees.
Great place, no wonder it is always ranked in Calgarys top 10!
Thank you for making our special occasion even better. All your staff are phenomenal they took great care making sure my meal was allergy free. Lori made us feel welcome and relaxed. She was very knowledgeable. Thank you for a night we will always remember Dietary restrictions: Very careful with allergies
From starters to mains, everything in this restaurant is delicious. Ambiance and service is fantastic. Great patio area with comfortable tables and chairs, good music and a short but great menu. An explosion of flavors mixed into each plate, with a very satisfying taste. Don t forget to order dessert! The cheesecake is something out of thistl world.
This is a hidden gem. Honestly very missable place and thought it was closed when I arrived. But the atmosphere was incredible! The service was good, but the pork medallions were a bit over done. I didn t love the food choices, but it seemed like their dinner menu might be different. Would still highly recommend as it was a good experience.
Most amazing cocktails! Everything was perfect. Thank you for your attention to detail.
It was really good.. the naan bread and hummus and olives where on the house. the basil soup was delish. the gnocchi (omg amazing) the duck was okay will try the chicken next time. But man oh man the passion fruit cheese cake is out of this world.. so good, I didnt get pictures only of hubbys Caesar... Food
Absolutely outstanding food. The gnocchi and short rib were both delicious. Cocktails rocked. Server was great. Highly recommend for a high end night out.
I was here over the weekend for a wedding, and everything about Alloy was absolutely perfect. The servers and bar staff were so friendly, were very accommodating to my dietary restrictions and had such a positive attitude all night. The food was unreal. I got the goat cheese salad but I tried some of my friend s truffle gnocchi oh boy. So good. Can t go wrong with either choices but if you like truffles and/or gnocchi, the choice is clear. The braised short rib was my main and it was so tender and delicious. We got each of the desserts to try (oreo cake, mango custard, passion cheesecake) and those were really really good too. My favourite was the cheesecake but I couldn t taste too much of the passion fruit. The gelato with the oreo cake was delicious. The mango custard was our least favourite, but it s still good! I think the chutney and cardamom threw us off a bit, especially having the other two right before hand. Highly recommend Alloy, you really can t go wrong with anything here!
Stopped up at the bar to have a raved about cocktail and we were not disappointed! The cocktail was an exceptional mix of unexpected flavours, balanced and extremely enjoyable. The bar service was friendly and engaging and the appetizers we had were delightful. will return again.
This gnocchi appetizer was incredible, I will dream about this dish
The food and service were surprisingly average. This was not aligned with the prices. I have been there in the past and it was outstanding. Perhaps just an off day for them
One of the best food experiences in Calgary
If I could give this place ten stars, I would! I can t believe I ve lived in Calgary for 15+ years and only just had the pleasure of dining at this Calgary culinary landmark. Everything from the ambiance, decor, food and service was absolutely incredible. My date and I started with the hummus and pita bread (which I didn t know they brought out as a complimentary starter). The pita bread was so pillowy soft inside with a nice crisp exterior making it a perfect vessel for the perfectly seasoned velvety hummus. Upon the recommendation of friends who have dined here previously, we had the gnocchi and short ribs. They were featuring a pork belly that particular day, and pork belly being my absolute favourite protein, I had to have that also. The gnocchi was THE BEST gnocchi I ve ever had each mouthful was an absolutely decadent dream on my palate I ve never had such delicious, pillowy morsels of perfection in my life, and I have eaten at some notable restaurants in NY, Toronto, and Vancouver. This gnocchi dish was absolutely divine!! Next came the pork belly, which was a summer feature. I hope it becomes a permanent menu item! The pork belly was cooked to perfection and the dollops of black garlic sauce gave the dish a moorish umami flavour. The pickled shimeji mushrooms were a nice touch it cut through the richness and made it a perfectly balanced dish. The short ribs did not disappoint massive chunks of beefy perfection served with a velvety mash that eased the palate after tasting the robust flavours of the reduction. I am salivating as I type this review. The wine list is vast and even though I can t recall the wines we had, they made for perfect pairings with our meal. Lastly, it s nice to dine at a restaurant that has not lowered the standard of service after covid. Further on that note there s a reason why this gem of a restaurant has a loyal following. It s a great date spot, has amazing food and impeccable service. I can t wait to dine here again!!!
Possibly our server was having an off night, but we really felt unattended. The cocktails were fabulous. Very well prepared. The tuna appetizer was magnificent. The main courses ... well that was another story. The great was the short ribs. Very nicely done. The curried chicken was definitely lacking curry. The pork was dry, like it had been left under the heat lamp for way too long. I am thinking a server or runner problem. We ordered one each of the desserts and they were superb. I will try again, but this visit was very disappointing.
Had high expectations for our meals as the reviews were very good. Sadly all the meals were absolutely not worth the price. Duck was super chewy, scallops were over cooked, short rib was dry & steak was so salty. As we were a bigger group of people, not sure if they felt rushed and that s the reason the quality was terrible but it s no excuse. Staff were also not very great, not welcoming at all. For this price we will be heading to Major Tom, Fortuna s Row or anywhere else with the same price point.
We had initially come in with high expectations as we were impressed by the many positive reviews but we were ultimately left utterly disappointed. I would like to preface this with some grace. We were a large party of 15 and our reservation was for 8PM when they close at 9PM. Some of us did show up later but we all managed to order before the kitchen closed. In terms of food, I had ordered the duck breast as a main entree. The meat had been tough, chewy, and bland. The side of sweet potatoes were way too sour. Overall the entire dish was too tart. The staff member serving us seemed kind but he forgot one of our orders completely. As the kitchen was closed they were left with no other options and they never received any food. The remainder of staff seemed cold and like they just wanted us to leave. It is nice inside, but they stopped the music while we were in there and it started to feel very uncomfortable. We were the last table so I ll give them that. We re not sure if it was because we were such a large group or if we were just there too close to closing that we had a bad experience, but If the restaurant cannot handle such a large party at this time they should have never accepted our reservation. If you are in a larger group looking for a bit of a later nice dinner, I highly recommend trying somewhere else like Barbarella, Lulu Bar, or Pidgeonhold.
Service was good, food is decent. Fyi, organic salmon on their menu is farmed.
The outside of the restaursnt looked like a warehouse or a workshop, but the inside was a totally different look, which was impressively beautiful. I would like to give a suggestion that replace the hand soap in the restroom with a Alloy-style bottle rather than one purchased from walmart. The service was warm and observant. I appreciate the friendly assist and the high chair for young baby dining. Food here was outstanding. I would recommend if the yogurt placed on the salmon could be homemade rather than product from store. Parking: This place is so popular that even there are plenty of parking area, they are still almost fully parked. Kid-friendliness: The service provided to our 2-year-old young lady is friendly and warm. But Alloy owns only 1 high chair for baby so if multiple babies would dine here bringing your own baby chair would be recommended.
Amazing food and incredible service at our dinner. We had the gnocchi, short ribs and lamb - all cooked to perfection. Their cocktail list was so unique and I loved the one I had (forget the name, but had creme de cassis and a frankincense and sandalwood tincture). Definitely worth a go!
Was there for my sisters wedding and it was really good food and I have been there once
Love this place, always a great experience!
Highly recommended! Delicious food and fantastic service.
Nice quiet, upscale restaurant. Food and presentation were great. A couple drinks they could not make due to stock reasons but overall great experience. Beautiful interior.
I used to go Alloy a long time ago. Alloy used to be top 10 in Calgary. It is busy. Food is good.
Get the gnocchi ruffle. Yum
Thank you Roydon and your fantastic staff at Alloy for making our sons, Devon and Ashleys Rehearsal dinner on September 8, 2023, absolutely incredible. Your beautiful decor, phenomenal food and excellent service from staff that truly care, made this a night to remember. Your restaurant was a smash hit with the Wedding Party, cant thank you enough. Cant wait to come back. Andre and Susan
Place is awesome design, service is 1A and the food was amazing. 5 stars. Parking: Awesome Parking, lots with in the property
We hosted our wedding at Alloy this past weekend and enjoyed every second of the day. Uri, Royden, Shannon and the entire Alloy staff went above and beyond to ensure everyone was taken care of on our wedding day. The venue is beautiful and the food was phenomenal. Working with Alloy was so easy and their communication was phenomenal, I wasnt stressed at all throughout the whole wedding planning process. We had so many people compliment us on the venue, food and drinks. We are so happy with how everything turned out and are looking forward to celebrating our anniversary here for years to come.
Love this restaurant I have been there a few times, last time I was there the pork was not my favorite, too dry, and pork should never be dry in my opinion.
Great ambience Great food And thanks for making Birthday special Great job guys
This visit was very disappointing. I had been here a while ago and remember it being fantastic, but it seems as though things are going downhill. Service: Our server was a bit unattentive to me but very kind to my friend. Ill send a message to management for specifics, but I feel like better training for servers might be in order. I will give a shout-out to someone else who worked there who offered us a booth over the little table we were sitting at! Food: The short rib was decent, and the duck breast was outshone by the Brussel sprouts, which was a slight letdown. I wasnt blown away like I was the last time I went there. So consistency is an issue, in my opinion. Cocktails: Very alcohol forward, which works if you are looking to get a bang for your buck, but to be honest, its probably better to get wine or beer if you are looking to pair a drink with your food. Atmosphere: Stunning decor, but extremely loud due to the setup. I would say that you can try the place for yourself, but its hit or miss.
Service is so bad, and food is not worth the price. honestly would not recommend to anyone
Been to this place a few times with my co-worker, 7 in total. Told waiter the Shnitzel was dry and crispy and did not taste very good, he does not provide replacing just that he will let the chef know....... Got the bill with 20% auto gratuity with no chance to discuss the bad service. Not impress . Food
Extremely good food. Our server was a real pleasure. Thanks Alloy
By far my most favourite restaurant in the city. Weve had nothing but exceptional service and top quality food each and every time. The truffle gnocchi is not to be missed!
This is the only place I go for special occasions. The menu is excellent, as well as the white glove service. Parking is very easy. The ambiance is beautiful...its the place to go to impress. Ive never been disappointed!
Atmosphere Gorgeous Elegant Perfect to become engaged over dinner. Parking: Small area for parking. Very busy Well loved Restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: Yes,
My friends and I booked a reservation on a Saturday evening. We are celebrating 2 of our bestfriends 40th birthday and had planned to have dinner here. We werent tend to for at least half an hour since our party arrived. 8:50 and still no appetizers (they close at 9 pm). When we were finally asked if we were ready for a drink. We asked if they have a slushy drink because we werent familiar with the cocktail option they presented. The waiter Jorge asked the bar if they could make something like that for us and said no. Which is understandable. I have eaten in a lot of places where they only have specific drinks, and that is fine. But the thing is, the bar tender starts mocking us. One of my friends pointed out that she saw and heard the bar tenders talking about us and laughing about us wanting a slushy drink. Our waiter wasnt very welcoming. Maybe its just a personality thing, and that just how he is. When taking our orders, one of our friends asks if the pork belly can be shared. We are not worried about the price. We do this all the time where we shared our appetizers because most of the time, we never finished it. But instead of just letting us know whether its enough for us to share or not. He replied with, Well, we can probably cut it in half. When my friend ordered pork chop, she was asked if medium well is okay and my friend asked for a well done. Our waiter replied with, it will be dry but okay. Is that really necessary? A simple okay would have been fine. We ended up canceling our orders as we didnt feel good being there anymore. We havent even received our appetizers, and the waiter said our mains are on the grill already. Overall, the vibe we were given was a group of ladies who didnt belong in that restaurant and couldnt afford to eat there. My friend tried talking to the manager about how we were treated, and the way he was talking to us was he couldnt care less about what we have to say. He just said a bunch of empty words with that aura of i dont really care. No apology was given. The place is nice but the service was not acceptable. Very disappointed.
Food was good. Service was slow for being lunch.
Group of girls came in tonight and we had the best time! Great food options and the service was fantastic. We all had an amazing experience thank you alloy and Gorge!
Lunch time visit.....lovely server, knowledgeable and helpful but food itself very disappointing....the hummous was incredibly bland and the larger main dish came only lukewarm as it mustnt have been picked up quickly and brought out to the table....would recommend more attention to detail....
The food is good. A little pricey for the quality. We may have visited on an off night; flavours were mostly delightful. Textures left a little to be desired - gnocchi was a little over cooked the chicken was dry, and the cod was a bit bland and overcooked. At one point, it felt like our server had a bit of a judgemental air towards us, treating us as if we didnt have a grasp on food or alcohol. He was quick to recommend the sweeter drinks, more suited to women (his words), though I told him Im not a sweet-drink fan. It was worth the experience, though Im not sure if be quick to return.
Food was great, we did enjoy the starters/appetizers (beef carpaccio, beet salad, salmon tartare) more than the mains. For the mains, we had the cod which could of used a bit more flavor but the duck was tasty. Maybe it was an off night but the server did not give us the warm and fuzzies nor was too friendly. I would go back again for a nice dinner.
we were there for a Xmas party, and they did a fantastic job.
Alloy hit it out of the park again! The food was incredible, the service was outstanding! Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner!
I was filled with anticipation to dine at the restaurant. But, alas, was disappointed. I ordered a winter salad-it was too sweet and the biscuits were an odd addition. For my main I ordered a duck-the flavours were nice but the meat was too chewy: I did not finish it as my jaws got tired. My husband had a lentil soup-he quite enjoyed it as well as Tempura prawns were nice. His main was Grilled Steak-it was ok, but somewhat dry. Hummus before ordering dishes was a nice touch (gratis). The waiter was nice. But our table was not wiped between serving dishes. Also, the coats should be taken/given back at the reception rather than at the table as it certainly interferes with nearby dining people. I hope these two points will be read and taken by the restaurant into consideration.
The food was INCREDIBLE, and the staff were all wonderful!
The roof of my mouth is still in physical pain and I cannot eat certain things thanks to the enchilada I had last week. The tortilla was so old and so hard it pierced my mouth. Pretty sure it was made the day before or sat out for a couple hours, barely edible. Tuna was fishy, Caesar salad was inedible due to overpowering anchovies (and I like anchovies).
Meh. This place qualifies as mediocre dining.
Here is the only thing you need to know about Alloy: it s about artic char and gnocchi. Start with those and add any other dishes you would like to try. Warning! You will not want to share gnocchi with anyone once you get it. So just get each person s their own. Artic char too, especially if you like sea food. It s a shame that I lived in this city for 7 years and never knew about this restaurant. Obviously, the food is the real star there, but the place is very nice too. I was a bit hesitant considering they are located in industrial zone, but it turned out great. All my concerns evaporated once I got inside. It is tucked away and has a peaceful space of its own. Their patio is enclosed Zen Garden like, very cozy with lots of room around each table. Its is airy and sunny during summer, perfect combination with savory food and maybe a glass of wine if you feed adventurous. Staff is friendly and courteous. Food arrives quickly during dinner service. No complains there. It would be a challenge to top their gnocchi but I am willing to give them a chance. I would probably need couple of trips to explore the rest of their menu. And I got to say, I am looking forward to that.
Really enjoyed this restaurant. Loved the decor. Service was as amazing as the food. Be aware if it is your first time visiting...it is not very obvious from the road
We came two nights in a row. The food was amazing, had duck both times. You will not be disappointed. Dawn & Dave Owen. Ontario
We went to alloy for dinner and ordered 2 appetizers and 2 mains. While everything was good, nothing really stood out as spectacular. The bill came out to nearly 200 for 2 mains, 2 appetizers and 3 drinks. And while I think the food was decent, nothing really stood out for me and I dont think its worth the price. The truffle gnocchi was probably the best dish we had. It tasted great but the gnocchi was a bit soft and a bit mushy. The drinks I had were mediocre and I felt my old fashioned ( I forget what they called it but it was similar to an old fashioned) tasted diluted. Overall it was not a bad dining experience, just did not feel it was worth 200. I would have expected stellar food and better cocktails at that price point. Service was great though!
First off the service is great! The menu has the perfect balance of offerings and the desserts are amazing. It s beautiful space with comfortable seating, no one was rushing us out for the next reservation, highly recommended
Service and the food was very good, it is a little loud as its one large room but not over bearing. They have a great reasonably priced lunch menu so perfect for that business lunch.
Absolute best dinner date experience I ve had in a very long time. Elegant classy interior, great food and cocktails along with amazing staff that make your experience a memorable one. Shannan our server took the best care of us. Definitely looking forward to our next dinner there.
One of my favorite restaurants in Calgary! Always on point! Great atmosphere for a date or group dinner! Cocktails are always an amazing starter and their wine list is extensive!
Great place for dining and fantastic food. The staff was very friendly.
My girl wouldn t stop talking about this place so we went for her birthday a while back, service was great the food was good but not worth the cost in the slightest, I have a way better dining experiences at lesser restaurants at half the cost and almost double the food, I almost lost it when I saw potato skins was fried and mixed into my fine dining meal what fine dining place serves fried potato skins, as part of the main dish . what s next? just the shell of the Shrimp sprinkled into my salad .I will never eat here again.
We would not recommend this restaurant for any special occasion. The only reason we tried this restaurant as it was highly rated. We made a reservation one month in advance in order to secure proper seating for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were seated in a very tiny table with no room to store your personal belongings and coats which was situated with busy staff running back and forth and other tiny tables were very close to our like on a food court. We asked to change our seat for more private as we were all dressed up for our anniversary and even though we made a reservation on OpenTable and added this in the notes in advance our waiter and hostess said no as those white coaches were reserved for their regular customers only. When we were leaving the restaurant those tables were still empty with no regular customers . It was very offensive attitude. We ordered some vine, appetisers which were good but the main NY steaks were just average as they were cold and lobster in the sauce was iced cold I believe they are adding it frozen, steak served with a few potatoes and small amount of eggplant and a few cherry tomatos. We love to go to the restaurants and there are much better places than this one. Don t waste you time here better go to Chairman steak house or Orchard you ll get much better experience! We won t be returning.
Great food and service! Thanks for an amazing night
The braised beef was on the dry side, and the tempura bites need a lot of work. Decent cocktails.
Ask for either Lexie or Lauren. They are awesome to deal with.
Good food, amazing appetizers. The ambience and location is really nice. Service could have been better and I would have given it 5 stars.
Great service, OK food. But not stellar, and not ever planning on going back when there are so many better venues out there. Their house specialty was not special, but their salad entrees are tastey enough if that is all you want.
Great dining experience!!
This place was in the middle of business areas that I never knew it existed. I would love to come again in the spring/summer. It looks like the the outside would be beautiful with flowers. The food was delicious. A great place to go to for a special event/celebration.
Amazing food and great service!
A higher end restaurant.
Been there many times now and have never been disappointed.
I forgot how BEAUTIFUL this place is. Impeccable service and good food too. I could give it 4.5 star portions are extremely small. Pricey but I guess it perhaps worth it for evening out
It has been awhile since we have been to Alloy but as before the food and service was excellent. We had the tuna crudo appetizer and the scallop appetizer, both top notch dishes. Also the truffle gnocchi and short ribs. OMG, so good. Our server, Greg was excellent, very friendly and attentive. I recommend this restaurant for a fine dining night out.
The food is to die for here, it was suppsoe to be a special evening for a friends birthday. Unfortunately it was almost ruined due to poor customer service from the waitress we had.
They have amazing rich cheese cake
Food was great but the service was pretty slow the night we were there. Would try again to see if it fared better.
Amazing cocktails.
Yeah I heard all about Alloy and the great meals people were having. The meal was good, our server was excellent. But it was so freaking noisy in there. I couldnt hear the people across the table from me speaking. They literally were shouting because of how loud it was in the restaurant. That really took away from my experience of enjoying my meal and the company that I was with at my table. Its too bad. The food was good, but not fantastic. Ive had much better meals at smaller, more intimate restaurants like Vero Bistro in Kensington.
As a group of friends, we had a Christmas get-together dinner at Alloy a week ago. Nice decor, comfortable ambiance, great service and very good food = a fantastic experience! We shared several appetizers, all were good but hands-down faves were the gnocchi and the scallops. Two of us had the short ribs, so so so good! The others enjoyed their entrees as well. Thank you, Alloy!!
Drinks are good, appetizers are good, main courses were dry, generic, and bland. To be honest, they came short of good homecooking. Ordered the gnocchi (5/5), salad (5/5), chicken entre (2/5), beef short ribs (2/5), in and out drink (4/5), cherry dessert (3/5), strawberry cheesecake (4/5) For this price, Ill stick with Bistro Rouge and The Sky Tower.
Had a great time with some fantastic friends. Highly recommend. King salmon was expertly prepared and the mushroom gnocchi was cooked perfectly. Great place for large events!
Ribs were fantastic! Wifes lamb was tough. The waitress was on another level. She went above and beyond for our group.
