Good food and drinks. Was very upset with how the auto tip was hidden on all our bills with this circle blocking this out

Server auto gratuity our whole table and told no one. She crossed out the tip on the receipt so we couldn t see we already tipped. Super dirty business. When we brought it up that we doubled tipped they were very very rude.

This is not a Mexican resteraunt. Its a buzzing place for young people to meet and eat and drink tachos nachos and tequila. Vibrant and busy occasionally loud. Great for young people, but not if youre looking for an authentic Mexican resteraunt and food

Our server Kyla was amazing!!! So friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. She is a wonderful host and treated us like we were best friends. I ll be coming back just for Kyla!

Amazing atmosphere! Our company treated us to have our Christmas party here. 4 courses with tequila pairings. Though the servers seemed surprised when I asked for a nonalcoholic drink, they quickly obliged. The food, service, and atmosphere were fabulous!

Great restaurant with great food and drinks. I just wish they would update their website when the restaurant is unexpectedly closed. 2 out of the last 3 times we went there the restaurant was closed without any notification on their website or Google. EDIT: updated review based on owner s reply.

The food was good. But I think that for those of us who are not used to Mexican food, which is mostly spicy, the customer who is not Mexican should ask the level of spiciness they want, in my case the molcajete was too spicy for me, I repeat , I am not used to or tolerant of strong spice. The atmosphere is very good, the place is very nice.

The guacamole tasted very authentic with the right amount of spice. The tacos were also great.

The waitress was really knowledgable about tequila and helped us pick a flight to taste, and explained how to taste it properly

I really like the guacamole thats made fresh in front of you. Tacos were really good, not exceptional.

We came around 19;00 on a Monday night. The hostess was very accommodating to our slight reservation change. It did start to get busy after 20:00. We started off with the mussels, if you love mussels this is a must try. The way it was cooked was different that anything I have tried before, just the right amount of spice and smokey flavour. We opted for 3 carnitas and fish tacos. The carnitas was not too salty and very well seasoned. We have tried plenty of super dry carnitas before but this one was tender and not dry and chalky. The fish tacos were super crispy but light and the addition of their house made horseradish mayo was the perfect pairing. Highly recommend trying their margaritas and tequila flight as well.

I recently visited Añejo Restaurant, and while the food and service from our server were fantastic, the experience started off a bit rocky. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, but the hostess seemed to have an attitude and was reluctant to seat us right away. It was a bit off-putting, especially since there were no other diners. However, once we were seated, the lunch turned around. Our server was amazing attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the ribs and the burrito, and both dishes were exceptional. The ribs were tender and flavorful, and the burrito was perfectly seasoned and generously portioned. Despite the rocky start, the food and the excellent service from the server more than made up for it. If they can work on the hospitality at the door, this place would be a five-star experience.

Horrible experience just trying to get in. Rudest hostess ever! Many many tables but they didnt sit people ordered us around to stand in a line like we were school children. We obviously didn t wait after that treatment. Won t recommend this place to anyone! Unacceptable when there are so many choices along 4th street. Avoid this place

I had the quesabirria tacos at Anejo, and they were absolutely amazing! The flavors were rich, and the tacos were perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was great too. Really vibrant and welcoming. Our server, Serage, was fast, attentive, and super friendly, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this spot!

Out of every mexican restaurant in Calgary, this one will always be my favourite. Food is amazing, especially the Tacos, the service is super fast and nice, and the atmosphere matches the theme . My favourite restaurant in Calgary, hands down.

Great lunch special!

Food started out great with the guacamole and the fish tacos. But when it came to the other meats, I was really disappointed. The braised beef and pork tacos were extremely dry and flavorless.

The language barrier only proved how amazing the food was going to be. Great little restaurant, rough part of town though. Try the enchiladas! Vegetarian options: Crispy tortilla chips and delicious house-made guacamole/salsa will keep you warm and leaving with a content stomach.

Had the happy hour mescalarita and it was so tasty! Will definitely be back for their tacos as I was eyeing my friends food but was too full that night

This is the fish taco that they brought out for a customer with an onion and garlic allergy. It would have been nice if they told us that they do not prepare any fresh vegetables (shredded cabbage, ect) that could be put on the taco instead of just bringing out empty tacos and telling us that no vegetables could be provided.

Had some amazing tacos here, late night a while back, and they were very accommodating in fitting us in last-minute in a very packed restaurant. We sat upstairs and loved the decor and vibe of the place. Food was authentic and delicious and we cant wait to go back and try out more of their menu!

Kyla and Pablo (haha) were amazing!! She offered great service, great personality, and some great laughs!! She made us feel very welcome, and she joined in on our surprise birthday plans for my moms 60th birthday! She s a wonderful server and we had a great time! Love coming to Añejo, one of my favourites in the city!

Ballin menu. Ive been to most of the top Mexican restaurants in Calgary and this one is near the best. Best guacamole in the city plus they mix it right in front of you. Tacos are amazing and authentic. Also the cock tails are unique. 3rd time here and loved it everytime. Only real con is in the summer time there is no ac inside.

Get the guacamole! Quite the experience when they make it in front of you. The margaritas were quite good and the tacos did not disappoint. The building is great too and the glass roof would be perfect on a rainy day.

We were there to celebrate a friends birthday in a small group of 7 people, so we reserved two tables. The hostess refused to put two tables together, even though there were tables available. In other words, we had to sit at separate tables. But even though we were at separate tables, it seems that it was not a problem for this restaurant to charge the gratuity as if we were all together at the same table. The waitress apparently did not like being questioned about this. As for the food, some things were very good, others were quite bad. The mushroom tacos and the childrens menu were quite bad. The other tacos and the guacamole were very tasty. Honestly, I dont know if I will repeat the experience.

I was able to make a short notice reservation on their website very easily. Beautiful area and very nice restaurant. The drinks and food were fantastic! We had the salsa tasting plate. All varieties of salsa were excellent. I had the Molcajete de Carne, which was so good, and a huge portion. I would definitely go here again.

Great restaurant, especially for happy hour after 9pm. Each taco is 4$. That only applies to the standard tacos. I had five tacos with three chorizo, one chicken and one fish. The The chorizo is my favorite with the fish being my second favorite. Putting the spicy mayo on the tacos makes it excellent. Parking: There is some parking across the street and in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Service is quick and staff is very polite & freindly. Loved the Crispy Fish Classic Tacos, Spicy Mango & Chili Coconut Margaritas. Also tried the Spicy Mango & Mint Paloma Cocktail, it was quite good.

Tacos were quite disappointing, little to no flavor, and dry, the fish was ok crispy but again no flavor, the birria had no spice or seasoning Was also thrown off at the start, walked in at 5pm was told they have a lot of reservations and would be asked to leave at 7 unless we sat at the bar... they eventually sat us and said rhey moved a reservation around but just seemed weird, like you dont prepare for walk-ins? I have never been told that at a restaurant. Atmosphere was nice, guacamole was fresh but could also use some seasoning, Margaritas and cocktails were excellent. Perhaps their dishes are better than their tacos though.

We came here for supper with a Bachelorette party. We had Kenedi and Kyla as our waitresses. There were absolutely amazing!! Absolutely phenomenal service, great atmosphere, and amazing food!! 10/10 would recommend. Ask for these two as your waitresses!!!!!

We stopped in for happy hour on a hot day. No shaded space on the patio but it was cool and beautiful at the bar. We sampled a couple of tacos, and wonderful coconut margaritas. Now that Ive seen the food photos and other reviews we need to go again. Better than any bar we went to in Mexico.

Parking in the area sucks. However, if you can carpool or use a different means of transport, then it is great. It is really loud and busy in the evening, went on a Saturday night at 7:30pm. Service was a bit slow due to the number of people there. Started with the guacamole and corn chips, they were great for a group of four. The queso dip comes in a hot bowl, the server recommends to stir often, and I 100% agree. Shared this with 1 other person as we got 6 shells to eat it with. Other people at our table got tacos and the salsa tasting, and no one complained. Will for sure go back hopefully at a less busy time or maybe during happy hour as the food is cheaper at this time.

I have an amazing experience, im from Mexico and i always look for good tacos but this place was beyond amazing every single dish was espectacular, my favourite was the churros dessert 100% recommend and the Guava Margarita!

I went with every intention of enjoying some tacos, and the experience was disappointing. It took them a while to get my order and when the tacos arrived they were super cold, I sent them to reheat and they didnt serve them back to me.

So disappointed in the service from our server. Must have been an off day for her, but spilled over to our experience. It was a birthday celebration that left us disappointed and not wanting to dine out again for awhile. I ordered a margarita and brought a small glass that we will call on the rocks. This is an unfamiliar term to them. So I ask for a different drink which made everything go sideways. My second choice was brought and delivered as its in a different glass 1/4 size cause I asked for light on the ice. Thanks for the $14.00 two sio drink! Tacos without salsas, sour cream or cheese! Everything is an extra. Never will I return!

Amazing guacamole made right at the table, fresh as can be. Simlle but probably the best Ive had with fresh ingredients that is perfect for summer! Andie who was my server and made me feel welcome and asked questions on heat preference to make sure the experience was perfect. My girlfriend and I are regulars at Añejo and we received fantastic service from Erin tonight. The food and drinks were brought out in less than 10 minutes and we felt very cared for. Love this place and look forward to coming back!

Honestly, this place is overrated. I have been probably 5x now and each time, I ve spent a ton of money and haven t enjoyed my experience. The tacos are not authentic by any means and have minimal toppings without any, repeat ANY flavour. They just rely on cilantro and if you order without, the tacos are just not good. The guac, however, is good and they do it table side. I do also enjoy the margaritas and the drinks I ve had. Even though the atmosphere is cool and in mission, if you want good Mexican, go somewhere else where you can enjoy a more authentic experience that doesn t rely on upselling their customers.

Wonderful afternoon with server Anna! The food and drinks were amazing and Anna helped us pick what we might like best throughout the meal. She was attentive, friendly and informative. As a table, we all agreed she is one of the best servers we have had in years (and we dine out waaayyy too much)!!

**Frustrating and Potentially Unfair Treatment at Restaurant** Our dining experience started off poorly with very confusing and seemingly unfair service at the entrance. We were initially told to wait an hour, but after my girlfriend spoke to the staff, the wait time suddenly dropped to 20 minutes. Post a quick bathroom break, the same staff member contradicted herself and reverted to the original one-hour wait. Miraculously, we were seated immediately once my girlfriend returned. This inconsistent handling and the staffs dismissive attitude towards me, while immediately accommodating my girlfriend, felt not only disorganized but also sexist.

Its not possible to rate less than 5 stars for Anejo. They really do offer a flawless experience, quality food that is not overpriced, great service, and lovely atmosphere (especially in Summer with the classic sidewalk patio). Great selection of unique mocktails for people who choose not to drink, which I love. Havent tried the alcoholic drinks, but my friends enjoyed them. Dietary restrictions: Good Mocktails for non drinkers, and menu was gluten friendly with easy modifications for my friend.

Went for dinner tonight for my sister-in-laws birthday and must say that I had higher expectations for Anejo as I used to frequent this place quite a bit years ago. For starters, in the past when seating with a fairly large group, they would bring chips and pico to the table and now it s just a bowl of lacklustre seasoned taco chips. Had ordered the beef tacos and wasn t overly impressed, the meat was bulky and dry in the taco and lacked seasoning, had to use a bunch of sauce just to get it past my windpipe. Others at the table had some comments about the food as well, my stepdads chicken milanese was really dry. Ordered some Churros for the table after the meals were done but the churros were way undercooked and were like wet pancake batter when you bit into them. No Cutlery or napkins when the food arrived and had to waive down the server for some attention at the table numerous times. 20% auto gratuity is also a little over the top for the level of service you receive here. Overall I don t think I would go back anytime soon, I ll eventually be there again I m sure, but it definitely won t be my first choice.

Not a pleasant service and average food. Neither a host nor a waiter were very welcoming or attentive. It was hard to get my water refilled. Pork tacos were dry and tasteless. All tacos had too much of red cabbage which is also tasteless. It would be great if they replace it with fresh crunchy lettuce. One thing I can recommend is their fresh guacamole with warm tortilla chips, but I wouldnt go back just for those.

Great food, large selection tion of sipping tequilas.

Pretty fair all around. The table side guacamole prep was a nice touch. Our group had a nice time. A little noisy but who doesn t love a lovely atmosphere. Location is terrific -street front in eclectic Mission retail area of Calgary. Good job folks.

True Mexican ambience and delicious food!

Ordered queso - all the cheese burnt to the bottom of the bowl. Three tacos beef and pork - no seasoning. The meat was less than luke warm. Chips were out of a bag cold, no salt, no taste. The service was good. Overall food experience meh. There s better authentic places in Calgary. Won t be back.

This is a must try We tried the table side Guac, the quesabirria, and shared a sampling of the chicken tinga, barbacoa, and fish tacos Everything was fantastic, the service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere really sells the south of the border feel. If nothing else, drop in for the churros with hot melty Nutella sauce

I took my husband to Anejo for his birthday dinner and it was an overpriced, mediocre and rushed experience. Our server was not the least bit friendly and didn t seem to have the time to even deal with our table. The Caesar I ordered was one of the worst I ve ever had - watered down, no garnish. The tableside guacamole was delicious but my main dish (camarones rancheros) was so spicy it wasn t edible and when I asked for some sour cream to tame it they brought the tiniest dish of it that I ve ever seen and charged me $0.50 for it. My husband had the molcajete and it was satisfactory. The meal was over $100 and the value was just not there. We used to come several years ago and it was fantastic. It s really gone down hill and we won t be returning.

I truly love tequila! Carlos walked us through an entire journey of Mezcal, I can t recommend this place enough. Sit at the Bar and ask a few questions, it won t be long until you get to meet Carlos!! Amazing

Delicious food and drink. Waitress was very nice and was amazing at her job. Only reason its not perfect is due to the music being so loud in the bar.

Honestly it started well with our server jorden. After that darek took over who was a nightmare to work with. demanding more han he was even entitled to. There was a tip added to my bill on a table of four, which is absolutely unacceptable. I will be in touch the the Banff Hospitality Collective to complain about Darek. I will not return ever because of the disgrace their staff has shown. Absolutely shameful.

Great food and a fun atmosphere!

Great ambiance, drinks, food, and service!! Loved the refreshing cucumber & cilantro margarita to quench the thirst. The scallop esquites - delicious, with the scallops pan fried to perfection and the street corn, zesty and exquisite. The crispy fish tacos - slightly dry for my liking, but nothing the condiments couldnt fix. Ended my meal with an order of mini churros with a side of Nutella Chocolate sauce. *chefs kiss* Cant wait to visit again!

Disappointed after hearing rave reviews. This place is overhyped and there are way better Mexican options in Calgary. Limited vegetarian options, food was meh for the price, way too loud.

I absolutely love coming here. Now, I have a food allergy, and admittedly a ridiculous allergy to be going to a Mexican restaurant (I m allergic to peppers, yes the vegetable, yes all of them) and the staff here are INCREDIBLE - each one of them. From servers to all in the kitchen, they are so keen to work with me to find what I can and can t have (for anyone else suffering like me, my go-to is the house guac no special salt or jalapeños, and pork tacos no cabbage or jalapeños). The food is incredible, the drinks are amazing, and the atmosphere is perfect. I will happily come back any and every chance I get, one of my favourite restaurants in the city. Even the dishes I can t have make me want to risk it just to try them. Dietary restrictions: Amazing with my allergy - staff were so attentive and intentional, whole experience was stress free.

Incredible place, the restaurant itself is just so unique and fun but the FOOD. Oh the food. The queso is unbelievable, add the pico and mix it in and it s out of this world. But the guac, made right in front of you! It s fun, it s fresh and it s the best guac Ive ever had! I ordered the CARNE AHUMADA, it was one of the most delicious steaks and perfectly made medium rare. Yum. Yum. Yum. Of course the margs were amazing but the food blew me away. Huge fan. Will be back again and again and again.

The atmosphere was authentic mexican, food was amazing, officially one of my favourite restaurants. Kid-friendliness: Very very friendly staff helping our kids choose.

Would not recommend for large group bookings with a set menu, wasnt nearly enough food for everyone, and was expensive for the amount. However the little food I got was quite good. Ribs, chicken, and steak were all great. Drinks were tasty as well, but service was slowww. Im sure my experience would have been better under normal circumstances in a smaller party, but if youre looking for a big birthday booking, this is not the place.

Absolutely love this place you cant go wrong! From there tequila to table made guacamole its awesome you need to be here I dont know why youre not!

Had a pretty okay night at dinner here. First time we ever tried this place. One server was really nice and the other was rushing us out... Even though our bill was like $200 and we werent even there for 1 and a half hours... That just left a bad taste in my mouth. As for the food, chips were very plain and guac was alright. Freshly prepared, but lacked flavour. Tacos were alright but again too simple for the price and a bit disappointing. The coconut shrimp was not bad. That was probably the best part of the meal and it wasnt mind blowing, just okay. The place was nice enough but that one server that kept asking if we were leaving and interrupting was irritating. Like I said, we spent hundreds of dollars and were only there for like an hour and 10 minutes. Drinking the entire time, so we werent just sitting at the table. Very weird to be rushed like that on a Wednesday night... Parking: Had to park pretty far away and paid for parking
