A slice of France right here in Calgary. A cosy romantic and intimate experience. Authentic fine French dining with a wine list to match. It's expensive but when you want to treat yourself and a loved one to a great experience, this place will impress and won't disappoint.
This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever head. We were greeted by the owner who was extremely friendly and was sure to acknowledge the special request I left on open table. The wait staff was top notch and very attentive. The food was incredible! This place is a gem. We will be back!
Cassis has become one of our favorite restaurants since trying it few months ago. The service is always impeccable and food is top notch.
I recently hosted colleagues from across the country at Cassis. The food, drink and ambiance absolutely blew them away. The service was 10/10. It was an excellent way to showcase local ingredients and the very best Calgary has to offer.
Classic French with Alberta prime! Owner run bistro serving all the French classics with some first class Alberta produce - a winning combo! Booked for Tuesday evening, bustling when we arrived to welcoming staff and a menu of bistro classics. All dishes were well prepared and presented. A delightful venue for our most enjoyable family get-together.
Excellent restaurant, we felt like we were in France again. The food was is top quality, fresh and delicious. The chef 🧑🍳 is excellent! You can tell that food was prepared with care and love 💕
4.9 stars! c'est bon! We didn’t have reso but very welcoming. Serveuse was an amazing hospitality. The food was absolutely beautiful. I haven't been so long but the atmosphere is not tired. If my chair has a cushion then perfect. Almost over 2 hr.. Need a comfortable chair.
Went with a group of 6 people, cute place. The food was decent. I really enjoyed the butternut squash ravioli. I did not enjoy the fish of the day (pickerel with lobster bisque, potatoes and leeks). I think the lobster bisque may be a few days ripe, it was overpoweringly fishy. Price point was reasonable, however service was painstakingly slow. It took over 3 hours and lots of waiting. The 20% auto gratuity seemed way too high for such slow service. I get that they are trying to provide fancy service, but I don't want to wait 50 minutes after dessert to pay and leave.
Absolutely the best dining experience ever! For authentic French cuisine, Cassis is my go-to Calgary choice. A true gem. Merci!
Great place, great food, great service. Check it out, I was very pleasantly surprised!
I had the pleasure of dining at Cassis Bistro with colleagues while in Calgary for a Royal LePage conference, and the experience was outstanding! The service was impeccable. Every dish we tried was simply delicious, showcasing the finest ingredients with perfect presentation and wine pairings. The French-inspired flavors were authentic and refined, making each bite memorable. Whether you re in Calgary for business or pleasure, Cassis Bistro is a must-visit for an exceptional dining experience. I can t wait to return!
I had a wonderful dinner at Cassis Bistro last week, a private event hosted by a colleague. The service, the atmosphere and the food and wine were sublime! I would not hesitate to recommend this quaint spot. The tasting menu we did - pairing French wines to the menu was so lovely and well thought out. Just an excellent evening.
On a recent visit to Calgary I was treated to an amazing evening at Cassis Bistro. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were perfect- the service was top notch with the wait staff very attentive. Being Celiac, I am always cautious about trying new things but the chef was super accommodating and made everything taste great. Would highly recommend trying this cosy spot.
Booked a birthday dinner absolutely fantastic, food, service, wines and atmosphere. Would highly recommend superior French cuisine.
I had the pleasure of dining at Cassis Bistro while visiting Calgary recently. We had several courses and each was exceptional! The service was top notch and the wine recommendations were spot on. I highly recommend this restaurant. If we had it in our city, Id be a regular!
Was visiting with friends on the weekend and had a wonderful time. The cocktails were delish as was the food and atmosphere. A little bit of Paris in Calgary.
Cassis never disappoints. The food is amazing, the wine list and staff are fantastic. One of our favorites in Calgary.
Excellent care and attention.
Delicious, loved every bite. Moule frites were outstanding.
My first beef tartare ever and words cant describe how good it was. Thank you!
Excellent!
Have been here twice now. Hard to top the service and food here. Definitely a regular spot for special occasions now. Thank you for a memorable dining experience.
A little corner of France in Calgary!
This place is Top-Notch. The best place to be for Bastille Day. They gave us an unforgettable experience. We will certainly be returning. Thank you and lots of love.
Amazing time here. All the servers are fantastic, and Martin was a fabulous server. The Sancerre wine was delicious.
We enjoyed everything about our evening here. The food & the friendly service. If youre looking for a good night out, I cant recommend Cassis Bistro more highly. It would be excellent for a date night too. As visitors to Calgary staying downtown, we had to drive to get to the restaurant, but it was definitely worth the drive.
Haven t eaten there, but my car broke down in front of their bistro and they immediately offered me help. Thanks again, much appreciated! Nice people!!
Hubby took me to Cassis for date night it s like leaving Calgary for a few hours, and being immersed in South France. Food is amazing, we had a bottle of wine, starters a meal and dessert. Every bite was as amazing as the last. It s pricey, but very worth it. 100% recommend
Truly authentic bistro cuisine with impeccable service - honest food at its very best!
Very tasty appetizers and mains. Creative scallop ceviche.
We enjoyed a really wonderful night out at Cassis for our first wedding anniversary. We ordered the mussels (sharing plate), foie gras, beef tartare (sharing plate), fish of the day (halibut with lobster bisque), and steak frites. Everything was delicious. The beef tartare was probably the best I have had. The presentation (with the egg yolk in the shell to pour on top) was lovely. Flavours were perfect and the crispy chips were nice and light after having bread out on the table. The very French style with the great Alberta beef was just so so good. The side salad was refreshing as we ordered a lot of meat. Foie gras was interesting because it was served on a gingerbread flavoured cracker. Tried pairing it also with the table bread. Im always iffy about ordering Halibut in restaurants as it isnt always done well (often too dry or too wet). They cooked it perfectly, and the pairing of lobster bisque as a sauce went really well with such a light fish. Our waiter was from Touslouse. He clearly loved food and helped us think about the items we were choosing between going together. He helped us pick out a delicious red wine that went well with both the steak frites and halibut mains. Another waiter made the most hilarious that is to die for face when he heard us discussing desserts, and we chose the creme brulee based on this. Best creme brulee I have had. We had such a good night. The pacing of the food and the drinks was perfect. We started with a French 75 and a Negroni. Delicious.
Service was really really good! Would recommend the foie gras with gingerbread.
Good food overall but fish was a bit dry.
Unreal
Absolutely an experience not to be missed. Must taste. Amazing gem of a restaurant. Delicious!
Lovely little restaurant. Food was really high quality.. the restaurant was busy and full (which is always a good sign) and we had a lovely evening. We ordered the steak frites, duck confit, beef tartar and my husband loved his crème brûlée. I had a lovely cappuccino at the end of the night. Will definitely be back.
Made a reservation for my son s high school graduation. He chose the restaurant. The ambiance is quaint. It s small but cozy. We liked the French movies projected on the wall. Service was top notch. More than a sip gone from water or wine and it was immediately topped up. Pleasant and friendly but not overbearing. The food was incredible. We had the lamb sausage, beef tartar and charcuterie for appetizer. Perfect portions, great flavour and so pretty and delicious. Mains were Beef Tartar and Steak frites. Again, perfectly cooked and the peppercorn sauce was delicious. For dessert we had the merangue with creme anglais and caramel. Perfectly light and fluffy. I don t often rave about a place but this one checked all the boxes. Friendly, great food, let us enjoy a 2 1/2 hour meal without making us feel rushed. Highly recommended.
The service was painfully slow and it took a long time for our server to first come by. If you book a reservation for a birthday, anniversary etc they dont appear to read your reservation booking or acknowledge your comments. Service 100% needs to improve or hire more staff. If you are looking to have an actual conversation with the person/persons you are with you will need to do a lot of leaning forward and talking louder as it is very noisy at this restaurant. I cannot imagine how a senior citizen would hear a thing properly. The tables are very squished together and open concept which added to the increased noise levels. As we were leaving, a gentleman was leaving upset as he had a reservation booked for this place and was told upon arrival they actually didnt have enough room for him. I am not sure what happened there but maybe have a backup place in mind when coming here. Overall I give this place three stars out of five as the food was the only redeeming quality this place had. Dietary restrictions: They are good on dietary restrictions such as gluten free however I am not sure how they would be with other dietary restrictions. Kid-friendliness: This place isnt really setup for kids and they didnt appear to have any colours etc for the one little girl that I saw at the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: This place would be a nightmare for wheelchairs, as is just walking through the restaurant it is very squishy and you have to turn sideways at points to fit through. Would not recommend for those in a wheelchair at all.
Dining at Cassis Bistro is a special experience. The service is exceptional and memorable. The food is their craft and passion; you will want to savor every single bite. The ambiance and music transport you to France... I always leave Cassis never wanted to go to another restaurant!
Very , very, very good. Food was from another planet, great staff and service!!!
This is the one of best restaurants I have ever visited. Food is very tasty. All staffs are just sooo nice It was just amazing experience. I cant wait to go back
This was our second time going to Casis, every time we go the Staff makes us feel like we are celebrates. They are so warm and welcoming and made us feel at home congratulating us on our 8th year wedding anniversary. My wife had the four cheese ravioli, I had the steak tartare antre with chips. The food is amazing and always worth it. service is friendly and prompt. Take a little at home Vacation and check it out. Thanks to all of the staff for a memorable experience.
Amazing experience! Will def comeback :)
Had a great time at Cassis Bistro. The food was amazing with lots of flavour, we finished dinner with their amazing crème brûlée . Exceptional service and lovely atmosphere!
my partner and I love this place. The service is amazing and the food really does remind us of being in France. It s the sweetest little restaurant in Calgary for a date night. We never feel rushed no matter how busy the night and we feel well taken care of here. The food is absolutely delightful.
I have always loved Cassie Bistro. The place that offer authentic quality French cuisine and experience.
Serving FOIE GRAS, what a disgusting and cruel place. I d never eat at such a heartless place
Best restaurant in Calgary! Best food, wait staff, atmosphere. Classic
Place looks amazing and the food is something else.
Always amazing! My favorite restaurant in Calgary! I personally love the fois gras, the beef tartare, and the raviolis.
It was extremely noisy, we were unable to have a conversation with our friends due to noise level! Not a place to go to for a romantic dinner!
Its all about the food at CB. French cuisine at its finest in a Calgary setting. You must see, smell and taste this place!
My wife and I dined at Cassis for the first time to celebrate her birthday. This Bistro is a first class operation. My wife has mobility issues and dimentia (which was not mentionned to the staff). The natural professional behavior of the waitress was so welcoming and freindly that my wife was able to manage her choices easily on her own. The staff was very helpful in facilitating her acces to the Bistro which made our experience one to be repeated. The food was excellent, the service was behond expectation, all staff members who interacted with us were professioanl and friendly and, we thank them and we recommend their restuarant to any person who wishes a first time first class expereince. Frank and Nancy. Wheelchair accessibility: The building structure does not lend itself to easy acces but the Bistro owners are fully aware of that and they go behond what we have experince in may other places to ensure that patrons are given a very high level of respect and help.
Fantastic meal at Cassis last night. An impromptu decision and a quick call secured us a spot at the bar. Bar tender Paul is an engaging and expert bartender. The proprietor stopped by and had us sample a new Rhone blend he had just received, and it was excellent. The 5 cheese Ravioli in pistachio cream is a show stopper and the appetizer size is good for 2. The Steak Frite was cooked to a perfect medium rare accompanied by a garlic butter and the fries were spot on. My wife had the mussels and they were incredibly fresh in a wonderful cream sauce. Cassis manages to make you feel special with next level service and attention to detail. This Bistro is a slice of France in SW Calgary. Highly recommend u try this unique spot.
Great food. Cool little place thats very French!
Wonderful place with authentic French service and food. Will return and highly recommend for a great evening.
tremendous French bistro located outside downtown thats absolutely worth the visit. We had a large party (6) and ordered *a lot* of food so I wont get into too much detail but everything was tremendous. Highlights: beef tartare, hamachi, Alberta strip loin. Wines are fairly priced. I think my last visit was in 2016/7 (?) and sorry I took so long to pay another visit.
Oh là là exceptional French cuisine, absolutely delicious assortment. The beef tartare with house made chips was to die for. The atmosphere, service and pace of the night is perfect. Paul, our server and Sari our bartender were both attentive and really made our night. Quality of the food and cocktails were all A+
Exceptional food and atmosphere. My bartender Sari was incredible and her cocktails were to die for. The wine list is thoughtfully curated, but the food was the star of the show... Next to my bartender. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be coming back.
We went for dinner here with my sister and her husband, and I definitely have to say its one of the best meals Ive had in a while. We ordered the beef tartare and scallop ceviche to start. They were absolutely divine - the scallops were fresh with just the right amount of citrus. The beef tartare was amazing (we appreciate this so much more after being in London for the last few months, I can confirm that London beef is nowhere near as good as Alberta beef!). For our mains my hubby and I got the mussels and frites - I was told the bread here was delicious and to get it in place of the fries, but our waiter was super nice and said I could have both - I honestly love it when they tell me this! I dont even think he charged us for the bread! Everything tasted super fresh! Despite being super full, I ordered two desserts - creme brulee and the nougat with a passion fruit coulis. Im so glad I made that the decision. They were both excellent. The creme brulee was super creamy and eggy. The nougat was a surprise as it wasnt too sweet. It had a nice soft and chewy texture with some crunch to it from the added nuts. The passion fruit sauce was the perfect addition. Id definitely recommend this place, and Im sure we will be back as well! We also had some fun filming through creme brulee!
So for those who haven t been here. Let me start by saying make a reso asap. Thank you Cassis! You remind me of the good times :)
Afterbthe pasing of my father, Im actually going back with mom tomorrow. Always great food, patio is bright and nice and feels private, and service is always top notch.
So fantastic every darn time. They never miss. What a fabulous establishment.
So good will definitely come back. Great service & atmosphere
Went for our Anniversary dinner and it was great. The owner was so friendly. He noticed we enjoyed the bread and even came out with a warm loaf in the middle of our meal. The food was delicious!
Cassis is easily my favourite restaurant in Calgary! The food is spectacular and the service is superb! We have visited several times now, and we are never disappointed. My husband and I just took our mothers in for dinner tonight, and we all left full and extremely happy. Such a wonderful bistro, that feels special, but at the same time like coming home. I highly recommend checking this place out!
Loved the food. Great service and the foie with gingerbread was divine. Food : 5/5
Very political and they will feed you and fill you up with French words & poor food to look high class and modern
We tried out Cassis on an impromptu date night, and we don t regret a thing! The service was prompt and attentive, and the food was delicious. The bread is so fresh, and the fish of the day was impeccable. Highly recommend!
Wonderful place. Great rillette to start. Fantastic beef tartare. Play du hour tonight was chicken and was great. Fish of the day was pickerel and the same. Perhaps won of the best crème brûlée I ve had in a long while. Cloud meringue divine. Great wine list simple but great choices. St. emilion grand cru and a Pouilly fuisse we re excellent. Excellent service.
Great food and amazing service !
Absolutely superb food and service. Very nice to have real tablecloths napkins and fine cuisine. The lemon sorbet was the best since I was in France and Italy 30 years ago.
Always a great evening at Cassis!!
Trust me, order the Mussels
quality food
One of the best dining experiences Ive ever had. First thing is the atmosphere which is literally breathtaking. The food sent me straight to heaven and the servers were very attentive and sweet to deal with
Best food ever! Amazing, romantic atmosphere! My husband and I come here for our occasional date nights for the last 8 years and it never disappoints! Friendly staff and menu changes every season for fresh tailored ingredients! We just love it here!
Every visit is absolute perfection
Scary environment extremely rude staff . No one offered to help with menus. Ended up overwhelmed by menus and prices was asked if we were high or something when it s only 32 degrees outside and it s been a long day and rudely we had been asked to leave zero out of five stars. DO NOT RECOMEND. The audacity. Also drive 30 mins if not more to check out the place just to be left completely disappointed .
Food was excellent, the waitress was phenominal. 10/10 definately worth visiting.
In truth I was a little tipsy from my stampede day however it was so amazing the food and service excellent going back when Im a little less tired our table of 6 loved it too!
Paul is always on point with recommendations for both food and wine. He creates a stellar experience and many reasons to come back !
Cassis is my favourite restaurant in Calgary and holds a special place in my heart. I bring visiting guests to this gem of a restaurant, and they have become repeat customers due to the warmth of the hospitality and quality of the food. Paul at the bar is knowledgeable, professional, and makes solid recommendations for food and wine pairings. He is a great conversationalist and makes sitting at the bar feel like a VIP experience. We love to taste the new wines! Gilles welcomes guests like friends and family and Dom the chef is incredible and makes you feel like you are dining in France. The food everything is delicious but we especially LOVE the tartare, olive tapenade, and duck dishes. Thank you to the Cassis Crew (Paul, Gilles, Dom, William, Oscar) for creating such a fun and enjoyable dining experience.
I have been going to cassis for a number of years-this last weekend the flies in the restaurant were absolutely overwhelming; disgusting as a fly landed on my glass then on another patrons plate. Moreover the food was only mediocre. The veal special - veal was tough and dry; the mushroom sauce had zero flavour. Another in the party had the fish (Halibut) the fishy smell was so overwhelming I couldn t even dream of tasting it. The only redeeming feature was the level of service. It must have been a bad day in the kitchen and the level of food flavours, prep in addition to the flies will prevent me from coming back or from referring Cassis. Parking: Due to road construction-parking access is restricted
Best in the city!
This place is amazing! Great food great service, nothing compared to fine french dining. William gave me exceptional service, really knows his stuff super friendly and genuinely went above and beyond. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Had the special an the steak frites. Both were very good.
Very cute small restaurant, food was delicious, everyone was so nice and helpful, very romantic atmosphere, would definitely go back again!
Had a lovely girls night to catch up with some friends... we ate family style, starting with the croquettes, tapenade, and foie gras torchon, then we shared the veal in truffle sauce and moules frites, and pomme tartin to finish. All were delicious and arrived in a timely manner. Including cocktails and wine, the meal cost only 85 per person - well be back! Parking: We parked just around the corner, which was perfect.
I went here for my birthday dinner it was great. The service was great but we had five appetizers and the mushroom soup and a bottle of wine it was unbelievable and we got to taste a lot of stuff on the menu. It was amazing the bill was 260$ for all of that French food and wine! Good deal. Definitely recommend
Shared my extra-special birthday with a couple of loved ones at Cassis Bistro tonight. We enjoyed truly gorgeous food. We loved the atmosphere- the classic movies framed on the wall, playing silently- honestly!!! Wonderful. The service was attentive, welcoming, and professional. Well see you again soon.
Pedestrian at best. Beef tartare had good flavor, but was the fattest weve EVER had. Do not recommend. Fries looked good but were limp. YUCK There was nothing exceptional here. People that ordered the steak with pommes frittes ( aka fries) it came with the steak cut!? Like childrens food . Go spend your $$ elsewhere. Do not recommend.
Wow thank you Paul the barmaid for the good advice, everything was really very good. oWe will come back for sure. go ahead with your eyes closed. 5 stars it s not enough!!!!! Food
The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. Thank you, we will be back.
Company Christmas party. The service was fantastic. The appetizers and main entrees were delicious. I had the very tender, juicy steak. The muscles appitizer was the best Ive ever had.
A real taste of France. The beef Bourguignon was divine. I felt like I was going back to France. Every bite tasted so good like home! Thank you for this experience and this culinary journey!
Great place, great food, a little cramped inside.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city, always great atmosphere, food and service.
Absolutely outstanding service and food!
Went here for my parents 38 wedding anniversary . Reserved a table stating that. We waited a bit for our table so be aware you will wait , it is busy! The food good. The best dish of the table was the butternut squash. My dad had the steak frites was good and the beef tartare. I had the fish special was halibut that night was good just the gosh was cold. I didn t send it back as it sat on the table for a bit waiting for the rest of the food for the table and I wanted to eat with the table not by myself & I didn t want to chance it being cold again or make me a new one then eat alone. overall ok experience, but when you pay $52 for steak, $49 for the fish, $36 for the squash & the tartare. The severs are very very busy I m not sure of it was the day but my moms ginger ale was forgotten, no biggie. It was extremely busy on the Wednesday we went.warning when you order the charcuterie board . It s ALL pates! Except for 1 cured meat, simply as info! This restaurant is also not wheelchair accessible.
The best steak tartar! So Delicious. Had as well the butternut squash ravioli and the scallop special was amazing! Great service and fantastic wine list and cocktails.
Charming French restaurant just a bit out from downtown Calgary. Went for dinner and the atmosphere and ambiance were perfect for a date night. Had the Mushroom Veloute, Beef tartare and beef bourgignon. Everything was cooked perfectly. The beef tartare was one of the best Ive had in Calgary. Only downside is parking is a little tough to find. Overall, quite impressed.
We were there for a private function. The food and staff were both excellent. Serving staff went over and above with their service and were super taking pictures for us.
This was such an amazing experience. The food was amazing - we had the pea ravioli, tartare and veal. The veal was perfectly cooked and everything was super tasty. The service was amazing. We will definitely be back!
Ive done dine in and the 3 course take out. Both are fantastic. I like the dine in for when you have a group of people. The atmosphere is so warm and fun. The take out, well thats great for a date night in where all you do is reheat the stuff as per the simple instructions. Also, in both cases they have great recommendations for wine. I really recommend this place for their special occasions menus too. Ive done New Years and Valentines Day at the restaurant, and Easter and Christmas at home. Ive always been so happy with the quality of food!
Parking available underground but access door was locked when we left the restaurant. We had to go back and ask staff to unlock the door for us Food and service were great!
Wonderful atmosphere and mmmm the food and dessert was so delicious. Great wine selection too
Came here for my girlfriends birthday and it will a very enjoyable experience! Great food and drinks, the squash ravioli was absolutely delicious.
The best French cuisine in Calgary. From the moment you walk in to the moment you have to be rolled out the door, the team at Cassis knocks it out of the park nightly. Its not the cheapest night out, but you get more than what you paid for. The beef tartare is unparalleled, everything is cooked to perfection and the menu is the perfect balance of comfort food and fun twists on the classics. The staff are incredible, and they now offer their menu for take away too (which is great, because getting a last minute reservation can be tough)! Eat here. You are in for a treat.
I am from Melbourne, Australia where we have some spectacular restaurants and eating at Cassis, reminded me of some of the best dining experiences I have had. The food was exceptional, delicate, light and a journey of flavours. The service was personable, knowledgeable and sincere. I have already recommended this restaurant to many friends. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Very consistently excellent meals. This is one of the most truly genuine French restaurants in Calgary. From the owners to the servers to the menu, wine and the food. Absolutely lovely. The room is cozy and intimate. Great for dates or a night out with your significant other. Do yourself a favour and book a table here soon. You wont regret it.
Great atmosphere and I found it amazing that most workers spoke French. it makes it fun if you speak French as well! I enjoyed myself and thanks to chacha for introducing me to this amazing place with amazing food and service
I was there for a day nigh with my husband, the food there was so amazing, just when I thought it wouldn t be better - one course after another, they just keep amaze me. Go try it out if you haven t be able! Love there ambiance and the service, so clam and friendly
Amazing food and the service was great.
Authentic French cuisine served in a cozy environment. Superb!
Wonderful and authentic. Delicious food with superb service...unlike many other higher-end places in the city.
Fantastic food and excellent service!
It was a very enjoyable experience with my family, all of us enjoyed the food and the place was great as well.
Overpriced and no ambiance, more like an expensive French café than a bistro
Ordered for pick up and was so very disappointed. I know I haven t been here a while but the quality was low. I used to love this place. We ordered the steak frites and the fries were left over crumbs. The charcuterie board had no cheese or crackers provided, the beef tar tar didn t come with chips. Was told that it came with fries instead? How am I supposed to scoop the tar tar up on a fry?! Especially when the fries were crumbs. I don t understand.
This is the best restaurant! I have tried everything and it is all amazing. Steak Frites is my go-to unless I am swayed by the plat du jour. Always good service and Paul behind the bar is a delight. Can hardly wait for the patio to open!!
We bring all of our staff, for all our staff parties and we have nothing but the best food, and service!!!
Cuisine is great, but for that level of prices we expected waiters to be more knowledgeable of what they are serving. Its pity that so great chef cant be supported well enough.
Love the charming room and when the patio is open we love to sit out there. The service is always on point and the staff really know their stuff. The food has never disappointed. Cassis is definitely a staple in our dining out rotation. They had the best brunch, maybe theyll be able to bring that back again at some point
Delicious food, great atmosphere and very wonderful hosts! Cant wait to dine here again
Its a unique concept however the noise level was not good. Food was good.
Personalble, service is amazing and friendly, food was an orgasm in your mouth with flavor.... Great fantastic place
Food was VERY enjoyable. If I lived in Calgary, it would be one of my go to places. Service was good. Felt out waitress was always rushed. Thanks Gilles.
Great atmosphere, great food! Especially loved the beef tartare.
Great experience. Would go back in a heartbeat. Beef tartare was amazing. Cream of asparagus soup was delicious. Not too rich, perfect.
My friends and I went to Cassis for dinner last week, there were four of us, and we had all been there before. The food was good the service was disappointing. At the end of our meal when the bill arrived it was all together. One of my friends asked our server if it could be separated. She snatched the bill from the table separated it, and then threw it on the table. We were shocked at her behaviour so much so I asked another server if splitting a bill was difficult. To which she answered no . We will not be returning anytime soon.
We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary here and experienced a very fine dinner. The steak tartar and mussels with fries were excellent as were the steak, ravioli and duck for the main course. Cream Brule was exquisite and the service was on point. We had a great experience and will be back!
amazing food but sad they dont carry diet coke
The food was amazing! We were hesitant to order the beef tartare but ordered it anyway. It was awesome!! For our mains, we ordered the mussels and sockeye salmon. The mussels were very big and plump and the sauce was light and not overwhelming. The salmon was absolutely delicious without a hint of dryness. Our dessert was creme Brule and a strawberry sponge cake. The sponge cake was very good and refreshing and would have been a great ending to the dinner but the creme Brule really took the meal to a whole new level. It was so creamy and the flavour was perfect!! Definitely going back again!!
Absolutely amazing restaurant. So original and true fine dinning.
We came here for our anniversary and the food was amazing! We got the fish of the day, halibut with bussel sprouts, and the dish of the day, which was a chicken and mushroom with a potato cream side dish. The service was quite friendly and provided great recommendations. The restaurant is located in a neighborhood so parking can be a challenge. We will definitely come again.
Cassis is our favorite Restaurant in all of Calgary. The Tartar and Foie Gras is the best in Calgary. Make your reservations early.
The food was great, but some dishes like the ravioli and halibut appetizer didn t make sense price wise, when my family members ordered. I d suggest going to this restaurant as the food, for me the mussels, were AMAZING. The waitress was kind and patient when explaining the menu no matter how many questions we asked, sometimes repeatedly. And the manager himself came by to check how we liked our food. This was my first time going to a French restaurant, (at least as far as I remember), and Cassius Bistro made it worth it for me. I ll just have to come alone next time, however, or with friends who like meat. Note: I d suggest not coming here if you or any of your companions/ family members are vegetarian as there s not much options besides ravioli if you are.
We had the Steak Frites with the peppercorn gravy and it was outstanding! It comes with a mixed green salad with a vinegrette sauce on top and it was also great. The creme brûlée was perfect, nothing weird or fancy in it, just a perfectly made dessert. Great atmosphere and service. I think everything was fairly priced aswell.
Best French food in Calgary!!
We had a great dining experience at Cassis. This is a unique French bistro in Calgary that really sets you in Southern France. Owner run, food is authentic french, service is great and atmosphere is perfect. Its great to have this gem in Calgary as the owner has really developed their vision. Such a treat!
Had the most delightful experience last night at Cassis. Seated in their lovely patio, we had top notch service and an exceptional meal. The beef tartare is fantastic and then I enjoyed the best salad I have ever had. It was simply perfect. The dressing was so delicious I could have sipped it from a glass. The chocolate cake was so silky and divine. What I am trying to say here, is that this was one if the best meals I have ever had. I have been to France many times and this experience took me right back there. Ooo la la!
My friend and I had the pleasure of dining here in May 2022 and we had a lovely time. If you want tasty and traditional French cuisine in YYC this is the place to be. The inside of the restuarant has a nice ambiance although the tables seem a little too close for comfort when the restaurant is busy (as it was while I dined there). The servers seemed a bit rushed as it was a busy night so it took a while to get drinks once seated. After our drinks were served, the pace picked up and all the food came out at a perfect time. The food was definitely the highlight of the evening. The entree was a sablefish with a risotto and lobster bisque that was to die for. The dessert was a creme brulee (which was very good but seemed a little lack lustre as I am always looking for creme brulees with a fun twist) and the bavarois was such a delicious and well crafted dessert. Their menu changes seasonally so keep that in mind that these options may no longer be available (which is truly a shame as I would go back for that lobster bisque in a heart beat!) . The prices seem a little high but the dishes are well thought out and quite delicious so all in all, despite some of the discrepancies, Cassis truly deserves 5 stars. Dietary restrictions: Not a lot of options if you are vegan as it is traditional French cuisine so just to be aware of that. They do have gluten free options and some vegetarian options as well but there menu is seasonal and changes sporadically.
Great food! The staff provide top notch service and love the family feel.
Authentic French cuisine. Staff speak french ( french accent, not quebecois) which made us feel like we were in France. Menu is short and to the point, but with a randomness in the form of Plat du Jour and Soup du Jour.
Excellent service and food Parking: Underground
Fantastic food, excellent service and ambiance.
Gilles, Paul and Dominic always make us feel so welcome. The food is exceptional and we love to come to your restaurant. Merci beaucoup!
Top notch experience. The food and service quality were up there for my partners birthday! The chef even came out to say hi. A dinner we will remember!
The staff was absolutely lovely. We did not have a reservation and they were able to squeeze us in on a Friday evening around 7 pm. The cocktails were nothing to write home about. The food was a bit hit or miss. The mussels came highly recommended based on reviews. They were very bland. The sauce too, which was surprising. The French fries seemed very average. The halibut with lobster bisque was fine, nothing remarkable. The scalloped potatoes were fantastic. The beef bourguignon was amazing. The creme brulee was to die for. Would definitely go back.
Very nice French restaurant. It s not big, which makes it really cozy and authentic. We went on Friday night with no prior reservation - the place was full. Only got place at the bar. Seems like it s a really popular place. The menu is not not big, but every dish is spot on. Tried squash and ricotta ravioli - amazing!
Every aspects of our experience was great
We really enjoyed our meal tonight! A very good meal this evening! Special thanks to our server Toula who is always nice, professional and welcoming! Thanks to Toula for her friendly, professional and welcoming service! We will be back, we will come back.
I was underwhelmed by the food and the experience. The host that sat us didn t say a word to us, sat us down then only spoke to the table next to us before walking away. Started off weird. The waitress was nice, refilled water fast and answered questions. The ravioli was good, and we got crème brûlée for dessert (best part of the evening) as the ratio was perfect, it was thin and wide. The rest of the dishes were average and I didn t find them particularly flavourful.
Came here this past year and last year for my birthday. Great french cuisine, done in the true french style.
Cassis Bistro offers absolutely outstanding food. I thoroughly enjoyed the duck pâté appetizer and squash and marzipan ravioli, which was marvelous. We shared our experience with friends in this cozy and warm atmosphere. Vegetarian options: Squash and marzipan ravioli for example
Unbelievable little restaurant. A changing menu with service that is attentive (and go above and beyond). Good for business, date night, small groups.
The butternut sqaush ravioli wasnt the only nut during my meal. Was not disappointed with the sauce. Dessert was weak tho.
Our new favorite place in Calgary. Romantic atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service
The food and wine were exquisite, service exceptional and ambiance extraordinary, especially through These unusual times. I can t wait for my next experience! Merci beaucoup et à la prochaine
one of the worst customer service experiences I have had at a restaurant will not go back there
Great French cuisine
Beautiful meal with a dedicated server who gave us great wine suggestions. The mussels & ravioli were delicious and that was the best rosé Ive ever had. Thank you for making my Dads birthday special.
Worst French restaurant in town, the food feels and taste like microwave food... awful experience for a birthday celebration. If you looking for real French cuisine, this is not the place, better look elsewhere.
We moved here from France and are absolutely delighted to have found this wonderful French bistro. The staff is outstanding! Chef Dominiques culinary skills are remarkable.
The food reminded me of old Quebec city. Fresh, flavourful and perfectly cooked. I brought my young teen children for their first taste of French food and they loved it. The service was the best Ive ever had period. I tipped 50% of the bill because our server impressed us so much. I dont live in Calgary but I visit every few years and we will most certainly be back. Bravo.
Perfect for a true French experience! Food and service were excellent! Thank you, Ill come back for a pastis!
Outstanding restaurant. Have never been disappointed. Great food, professional and friendly service, a wonderful patio and an excellent wine list. A big favourite!
Fantastic as always!
We went for our first time since everything opened up. The service is great as always, great drink suggestions and very detailed explanation of the dishes. They are very accommodating and knowledgeable about food sensitivity and offer options. The steak frites are amazing as always and the creme brule is one of the best Ive ever had. Its well worth trying it if youve never been.
Cassis was an incredible atmosphere of friendliness, amazing service and food everyone should get a chance to taste.
Wonderful experience.
Great place and it was our first time there. Super classy and a very relaxing atmosphere. Food was fantastic and very well thought of. Although the steak and fries my gf got couldve been better with homemade fries or even potatoes but other than that, the experience was fantastic. Server was super friendly and attentive. I got the veal and scalloped potatoes which was amazing especially the sauce and it was the plat du jour. The charcuterie was well curated. Would definitely recommend.
5 High quality food; friendly staff.
This review would easily be 5 stars for the food - each bite was exceptionally planned & executed, & delicious is an understatement. The drawback was our server. She was dismissive and really took away from the overall experience. We expressed our wish to try as many dishes as possible, and therefore ordered 5 appetizers and 1 main, all to share. We asked for them to be served one at a time so we could enjoy them individually, not to mention that we were at a small table for 2 with no room for additional plates. She said that wasnt likely as the kitchen makes things at their pace, not ours. She then added that we were ordering 5 plus courses and that wasnt acceptable here either but she could ask the chef. The kitchen was completely accommodating and we got just what we asked for and then some, but our curt server made it seem like we were a bother, not welcome guests. We even bought a round of drinks for the kitchen which were not certain she conveyed as it was not acknowledged, though it was charged on our bill. We will definitely return, but if we ever get the same server we will be changing tables at once. Highly recommend for the amazing dishes!
The food was Devine, atmosphere fits the theme of a French bistro , staff are friendly and the wine list is diverse and high quality. I had the steak tartare, duck confit and creme brûlée, the meal was one to remember to say the least. I will be coming back soon!!!
My family and I went to Cassis yesterday night for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was great and the food was impeccable. The menu is small but all that meant was that the quality remained high throughout each dish - which we loved! Our server, Tula, was spectacular - she is the definition of a service with a smile (even through a mask). My parents do not speak English well, and she took the time to explain each dish slowly and articulate to help them understand. She made this experience one to remember.
My favorite restaurant in Calgary.
We went here for a birthday dinner. Our waitress was friendly and informative and recommended a very nice wine to pair with our meal. We sampled some unique and delicious cheeses as well as the mussels and duck confit. All top notch, thanks!
We have been coming to Cassis since 2015 when we discovered it. Its truly one of the best restaurants in the city, and we are so happy to live just a walking distance away. The staff is amazing, Gilles, Andreea, Dominique and everyone are creating a cozy, fantastic atmosphere with good French bistro fare and consistent quality. I am too late with my review:)
Food was amazing and service was even better :) everyone at Cassis was so warm and friendly. The beef tartar.. so flavourful. Duck fois gras - melt in your mouth delicious. The beef bourguignon was melt in your mouth! We haven t gone out to eat in awhile and this was just so worth the experience. What a gem.
A beautiful venue with very attentive staff. We were a group of 18 for our Christmas party and everything was perfect! We had a private room and the food was absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend and cant wait to go back.
Great place for drinks, date night;)
