Chef Francis Martinez injects his downtown Toronto vibe to execute a contemporary menu with a soft French influence; from small bites and caviar to robust courses featuring the finest local beef. Arrive a little early and pop a bottle while you wait in our luxurious champagne sanctuary.
Had a pleasant experience here, food was great! Nice to see multicultural staff, they were all very nice and accommodating. Food was great , drinks were delicious as well! The Ube Mont Blanc dessert is a must try , nice way to end our night !
One of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time! Exceptional dishes from start to finish and wonderful service.
Mark and Logan are our happy hour superstars. The food was top notch. Oysters and Brussels sprouts are a must try. Not a fan of the Tool Shed on tap but they do have cans of Establishment handy. Their spirits shelf is top notch as well. Great visit before a Calgary Flames game.
We had the pleasure of sitting at the counter, where we could fully immerse ourselves in the artistry behind the menu. Chef Frances was exceptionally attentive, showcasing his skill and fostering a strong, collaborative vibe with his kitchen team. With each dish presented, they thoughtfully explained the ingredients and cooking techniques, adding depth to our experience. Every dish we tried was outstanding. The restaurant had a welcoming ambiance, making it a truly memorable evening.
A highly recommended restaurant for my wife's birthday visit, with excellent food and service. The only regret is that the steak knife is not sharp enough and cutting is a bit difficult. Megan is a incredible server for the night.
I recently dined at Fine Print, and while the ambiance was lovely, the service left much to be desired. Out of our group of six, only one person was asked about their meal, and my request for a second glass of wine went unaddressed until the end of dinner. Three of us ordered the duck; one loved it, another thought it was mediocre, and one had to send hers back due to it being raw. After one of my friends addressed the duck the server did offer to replace it, which was a nice gesture. I ordered the Hokkaido scallops, but they arrived with burnt cabbage on a skewer, which was inedible. The scallops themselves were okay, but not cooked as requested. On a positive note, the tempura green beans were fantastic, and I enjoyed tasting my friends' gnocchi and pappardelle, both of which were excellent. Overall, the decor and atmosphere were great, but the service and the scallops were major disappointments. I hope they can improve these aspects in the future.
Meagan was an incredible server. She made great recommendations and helped find the right things for me when some drinks I wanted were no longer available. She helped us celebrate our 13th Anniversary so well with some bubbles and an additional treat at the end of our meal, which was wonderful. We had the bison tartare, duck duet, beef tenderloin, and espresso cheesecake. Everything was flavourful and presented beautifully. We also enjoyed a few very well crafted cocktails, wine, and digestifs that enhanced our meal nicely. The only minor notes I have are that the bowl the beef tenderloin was served in had curves on it that made it so I couldn't set my fork or knife down on the edges without them sliding into my food. The cheesecake was SO good, but the outside of it was hard enough to cut through that you couldn't help but make a very loud noise on the plate when cracking into each bite. Honestly though, those items are so minute compared to how lovely the whole experience was. We will definitely want to come back for the next menu change or the chef's tasting menu that we heard happens on Tuesdays.
Restaurant has a great atmosphere with very nice lighting! The only thing was that the music did not suit the atmosphere or the vibe they were going for. Food was good, but the appetizers didn’t really wow’d me. We had the crudo, beet salad and sliced jamon. Main dishes were better!
Had a staff party here in the Hemingway room. Was very nice and separate from the bustle of the restaurant. Drinks and food were great we had a set menu and everything came out quickly and well timed. Service was great!
Overall I think considering the pricing of this restaurant, I was disappointed in my experience and feel that you can get much more bang for your buck at another nice downtown restaurant. It took us quite a while to get served after sitting down despite being a large group. We also did not receive our drinks until we were nearly finished our appetizers. The cocktails themselves were great however. Some of the dishes were amazing (scallops, brussel sprouts, duck) but some of the dishes were disappointing (lobster in lobster risotto seemed really overcooked, dessert cake was quite dry). Not a terrible experience by any means, but would expect a different service experience and food quality for price.
Great food, good service This place is a gem Food
I am grateful for the excellent alcohol free options. Not just soft drinks, or regular cocktails hold the booze but drinks thoughtfully prepared with quality alcohol free spirits. There is also a good selection of no alcohol beers and wine. Many are embracing this lifestyle and it is great to see a restaurant that is so forward thinking as to meet this need. Would love to see a few more appetizer options so I can make Fine Print a go to place for a night out for mocktails and appies.
Beautiful restaurant!
I was there for a Fine Knife Skills course run by Knifewear. The owner and staff of FinePrint were friendly and attentive, the venue is nicely decorated and the appetizers served were excellent. I would put this on my list of restaurants to visit for those special occasions.
We have great experience, Sara was excellent!
Beautiful restaurant with comfortable seating, open kitchen to watch the food preparation, the staff was excellent and knowledgeable, and the food was terrific.
Meh
We had an exceptional experience for dinner! Loved everything about it - the vibe, ambiance, cocktails, Francis the chef is outstanding he has so much character the food is amazing and he is so thoughtful, creative and generous! Our server Julia was SO lovely. We are most definitely going back, definitely sitting at the counter & definitely requesting Julia! Thank you for such a magnificent evening!
Great place. Shout out to Logan and Sarah for for amazing service.
Sarah M. Was PHENOMENAL. One of the best servers iv had the privilege of meeting. Food outstanding, atmosphere outstanding. Overall a really good experience! If you re ever in Calgary you MUST check this place out.
Best tasting food I have eaten in years
Great food and atmosphere!
Last week I hosted my clients in Heavily Redacted, a speak-easy type lounge underneath the restaurant. Im not sure there are words to describe our experience. The moment we entered this exclusive space, jaws were on the floor. Picture a dark, plush, hidden room, with black panelling, abstract art and some of the finest liquor bottles backlit on a sandstone wall. Both Sarah M. and Logan delivered unparalleled levels of service to our group, taking the time to provide details on each dish, despite being VERY busy. They made it look effortless. Pair the service with the delicious food (the tomahawks, lamb chops - not to mention the tempura green beans!) and the masterfully-handcrafted cocktails, and this was a night to remember. Thank you, FinePrint, for taking such great care of my VVIP guests!
I had high hopes for this place after reading positive reviews, but I was disappointed. The duck was stringy, and the crudo was cut far too thick, making it hard to enjoy the freshness and texture that crudo is known for. While the service was fine, it wasn t memorable, and the ambiance, though pleasant, didn t stand out. Overall, the experience felt lackluster, and I expected more given the restaurant s reputation.
A terrific fine dining experience in the heart of downtown Calgary. After several visits FinePrint remains one of the best dining experiences available in Calgary with excellent, creative menu items and on point service in a great setting. You get what you pay for and in this case it is completely worth it.
Disgusting fish not the best freshness ordered also tar tar tar I dont understand what the problem is to cut tar tar correctly this is the meaning of the dish correctly sliced tar tar I put 1 star food and 5 staff
I sat at the kitchen bar and received five star service from the chef himself! Francis is to be commended for his ingenious approach to cooking! Down to earth, approachable but most of all creates dishes that are extraordinary! You cannot come to Calgary without eating here! I was here 4 days and came here for lunch twice and dinner once, never to be disappointed! The lobster roll is out of this world as well as the sablefish and beet salad ! A MUST !
I have eaten all over the world and I get tired of average. FinePrint is a dining experience and gets my vote as one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of sampling. I cant wait to come back.
Great atmosphere a bit of a pain to find parking but that s just downtown! The appetizer oyster s were very good. The beet salad was very good. I was going to do the lamb shank but they did not have that but did have rack of lamb but it was only 5 oz ? So very small so she talked me into the special of pork steak with peppercorn sauce. Flavor was incredible! But the serving was 70% fat 30% pork. All 3 of us struggled with the amount of fat we had on our plates. And we were still hungry when we were done! There was literally 4 to 6 maybe oz of meat maybe. The chefs did come out and talk to us and comped desert but for 4 people and just shy of $600 dollars plus tip and tipping starts at 18% and up. This was a fairly expensive dinner and not so memorable for the right reasons.
Visiting from out of town, but was immensely impressed with the food here. We had a big group. The food was to die for. Everything from the scallops, oysters, jamon Serrano, and crudo. The mains especially the fish was insanity. The pasta dish was also excellent. If you re looking for a place with great food, wine, and service I d definitely go here.
It was our first time eating there. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and ideal for a date night. The service was lovely and the servers were really friendly. Food was delicious and presentation was elegant, but what tainted our experience was the quantity of food in our plates. The beef and ducks were amazing quality, but barely any vegetables to accompany the meat. For the price we were definitely expecting a better balance in our plates. Its never a good feeling to leave a restaurant and still be hungry after spending over $100 per person, even if the food was good.
We had an exceptional dining experience at Calgarys Fine Print restaurant! Started off with a couple of delightful cocktails that our server recommended. Loved the Tempura Green Beans!! The Sablefish was lovely and our server paired it with a nice glass of white wine. The service was outstanding! The meal left enough room for dessert, which was the perfect ending to a fantastic evening.
Exceptionally good food was ruined by extremely loud techno, base-heavy music that was defended by a young, arrogant and clearly self-absorbed bartender masquerading as a manager. Responding to our complaints about the pounding club music, he smugly responded they worked so hard on the playlist and get so many compliments on it. And then implied if we dont like, dont come back. When we suggested the music wasnt suitable for fine dining, he replied its casual dining. He was silent and walked away when I responded their menu and prices - $45 for duck - certainly arent casual. We dined early and by 9:00 the dining room was almost empty on a Saturday night. Regretfully weve yet to return as the sophisticated menu is ruined by the pounding club music. Its an experience, but not a pleasant one.
We went to Fine Print today, what a treat! We ordered... Tempura Green Beans Grilled Radicchio & Endive Salad Fresh Shucked Oysters Josper Roasted Sablefish Pappardelle Pineapple Coconut Mille-Feuille Affogato with vanilla ice cream and Baileys Aperol Spritz Mocktail Amaretto Sour Mocktail Everything was amazing! We were treated so well they gave us a couple of free mock tails. Which was very nice, the service was above and beyond. The mignonette, agrodolce was beyond delicious, I will seriously dream about this mignonette. The Sablefish was perfectly cooked warm on the inside and wrapped by a savoy cabbage leaf. The orange miso butter is decadent. If I had bread I would of sopped it up. The Pappardelle was very good with a hint of sweetness. The Mille-Feuille was a perfect finish crispy and not overly sweet. The yuzu sorbet was refreshing and light. The mocktails were really good. Highly recommend. Im looking to go there again and try their Pan Seared Branzino and of course more Shucked Oysters. Very nice atmosphere and great for date night. If you can definitely try this place out, if you havent.
Good taste, high prices, lacking in portions. After youre done here youll go straight to McDonalds for an actual meal. If youre here to taste then great, if youre here to actually eat, skip this place and go somewhere else. Another one of those places where youre paying more fOr ThE eXpErIeNcE than the actual food itself. While it tastes really good, the portion sizes are incredibly small for what you are paying for. Left still hungry. If a meal is $50, I should be satisfied at the very least, but you will not, and thats the real disappointment about this place. Had I had just a bit more on my plate, it would have given it 5 stars EDIT IN RESPONSE: Thanks for confirming your place for food is For the experience and not about actual eating, just Tasting. I am fully aware youre not directly competing with McDonalds, Im only mentioning that as a person who spends $50+ on a meal, you will be left starving still.
Excelente services and food
Fineprint exceeded all my expectations! The cuisine was phenomenal, bursting with flavors in every bite. The cocktails were superb, each one a delightful surprise. The service was impeccable, with a team that truly cares about their guests. Ill definitely be returning!
Fineprint offers an unparalleled dining experience. The food was mouth-watering, with a perfect blend of flavors. The cocktails were exquisite, making the evening even more enjoyable. The service was remarkable, with staff who were both professional and personable. Cant wait to go back!
Such a great spot! Food was top notch and the service was stellar. Great venue for our business dinner. The duck was superb!
Our first time dining here. The restaurant looks amazing and food was delicious! We started off with Fake News mojitos which was very tasty. We shared Tempura Green Beans and Cured Ora King Salmon and Hamachi Crudo. They were amazing. We each ordered Pan Seared Bronzino and Gnocchi Lumiére with Prawns for our main. Again, amazing! To finish off, we had Yuzu and Rhubarb, and Coconut Pineapple deserts. Our server Meagan was very attentive, kind and friendly. We had a great time there.
I had an outstanding dining experience at Fineprint. The ambiance was elegant, and our server, Meagan, provided impeccable service, attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The highlight was the beef tartar, perfectly balanced in flavor and texture, making it the best Ive ever had. The attention to detail in presentation and taste showcased the restaurants high standards. I highly recommend Fineprint for anyone seeking fine dining paired with exceptional service. I look forward to returning to explore more of their culinary offerings.
We liked the dishes, especially the sablefish, but the food was just warm and couldve been hotter. Also, the pappardelle was nice but didnt have as much flavour as I expected.
Our experience was excellent, from the service to our menu choices. The Espresso Cheesecake is a must try. Creative taste experiences! Add this spot to your Calgary must try list!
We ordered the oysters, salmon & hamachi and fried beans for appetizer which was all quite good. Our mains, the duck and fish (I forget the name) were both also very good. The dessert was very well presented and looked very nice but unfortunately looked a lot better than it tasted. Our server was very good.
Great food !
Exceptional! FinePrint is an absolute gem offering world class food, perfect service and effortlessly chic ambience full of the who s who in Calgary. This is a 10/10 highly recommend!
Stopped in for a quick beverage and a bite. The food is amazing and the service is very good.
I wish I would have read the fine print where it said your meal will be served cold and the pesto pasta will be soaked in pesto sauce. Over priced and not very good food. Place looked nice though.
Food is good, service was underwhelming for this calibre of restaurant. Small portions. Fish was presented undercooked - send back to kitchen. I would NOT recommend the lamb chop.
This has been one of the best meals with outstanding service (thank you, Meagan!) experienced in a verrrry long time. We had the great pleasure of being seated in the private room at back of the resto, quiet and chic print related decor. Our knowledgeable server, was able to direct our choices in food/wine and explained which items could be adapted to the dietry needs of our table. After some exceptional cocktails with fun newsie names, we shared the special and the perfectly cooked haramachi scallops. The mains arrived, duck duo for me cooked to a perfect med rare, and the oohs and aahs began, which I am sure could be heard in the other parts of the resto. We had one member of our party doing a happy dance over the lamb. We were delighted when the shy Chef Frances came over to the table, the enthusiasm for food and this resto matched our own. We were told to leave room for dessert and as a non-dessert person I am glad we did. The yuzu rhubarb, the corn flan and mille fueille were lessons in alchemy and wonder. Wow! We left happy, sated, and feeling like we had been part of something very special. Huge shout out to the team at Fine Print. This out of towner will be extolling the virtues of your resto for a very long time to all who will listen.
This place is absolutely amazing and worth every penny!! The food was incredible: from the appetizers to the final course ! We had the delicious BISON & TRUFFLE TARTARE, and the beet salad was also delicious! As a main course we had PAN SEARED BRANZINO and it was unbelievable! Chef Francis was great , and same with our server Megan ! The whole place has a great vibes !!!
I don t want to spoil too much but just have a look at the deserts !!!
Came here last night for my husband and Is 6 year wedding anniversary and were incredibly impressed with the food and the service! Our server, Emily, was incredibly knowledgable and friendly and was more than willing to go through the menu with us and make recommendations, we started with the cured ora king salmon & hamachi crudo which was absolutely awesome and when both of the proteins of our entrees came out a little over cooked (I had the lamb chops and he had the duck) they immediately re-did them and they came out perfect the second time around. They gave us complimentary tempura beans because they had run out of my original choice of entree (the sablefish) as we were one of the last reservations of the evening and I guess its pretty popular! They also gave us two free deserts since it was a special occasion. Not saying freebies is what makes a place great but it certainly helps ;) haha. The only thing Id say was a bit of a negative was that it was really loud when we first arrived, very busy and the tables are close with no noise reducing features but once people started leaving that problem resolved itself. I just wouldnt say the environment is very intimate but its a cool room. All in all Id absolutely recommend this place for their delicious food and attentive/knowledgable service - we will be back for sure (definitely for the sablefish).
Came in the other day for lunch as a walk in and I have to say I had a great time here. The oysters were incredible and Jackie surprised us with our entree orders by getting us the gnocchi with prawns and the coconut curry with chicken. They were delicious! Jackie s service was very friendly and knowledgeable and I can t wait to come back to try more of their summer menu !!
Fantastic restaurant with a nice modern vibe. Upscale, but doesn t take itself seriously. Awesome food. So nice we came back again another evening before leaving Calgary. Recommended!
If you are looking for an upscale and impressive dinner location in downtown Calgary, I highly recommend FinePrint! My husband and I had a date night there and it was phenomenal. Martin is a gem, whose passion for his work added an extra layer of joy to the meal. Cocktails were tasty and spirits forward. For starters we had the Alberta Bison & Truffle tartare and tempura green beans - both were delicious. I would go back for the starters alone, the tartare is one of the best things I ve had dinning out! Main course we had the sablefish and gnocchi, both very enjoyable- the sablefish however I would strongly recommend. For dessert we had the yuzu and rhubarb dessert and the pineapple coconut one. They were not only gorgeous, but the perfect level of sweetness where you can appreciate everything that went into it. If you are looking for a spot for a special occasion, or just want to treat yourself to fantastic food, with equally fantastic service - FinePrint is a must try!
Its definitely worth a visit! The food is delicious, the drinks are quite fine (pun intended), and the atmosphere and the service are top of the line. The kitchen has a smaller crew, so allow yourself time to slowly enjoy the full experience.
An amazing culinary journey awaits at FinePrint. The ambiance was exquisite, with a perfect blend of elegance and comfort. But the star of the evening was undeniably the food each dish crafted to perfection, bursting with flavours that delighted our taste buds. Chef Francis expertise shone through every bite, showcasing a mastery of ingredients and techniques that left us in awe. From the delicate appetizers to the decadent desserts, every dish was perfectly crafted and a work of art. On top of the food, the service was impeccable. Without a doubt, this is a five-star establishment that deserves every accolade.
Lovely dining experience. We had a few cocktails and shared some appetizers. The atmosphere of this restaurant was very nice, quiet, staff were wonderful and professional. We started off with the press release and the Calgary Harrold for drinks they were so tasty. We shared the green beans, tartar and the cheese puffs. For our mains we had the buck breast and the Lamb Chops. They will be doing a menu change and I would like to go back and see what they will be changing. For desert we had the Crem Brulé and it was so amazing.. Everything tasted great and was timed nicely.
Excellent service, the food is fantastic, our favorite during our visit to Calgary!
What a great restaurant good food great staff a must
We enjoyed a perfect date night April 10,2024. The dinner flavour combos were so fresh and delicious. We felt like family, meeting the chef and the entire staff were attentive and fun. Meagan, from Nova Scotia tailored our food choices and schooled us in their fresh oysters. I look forward to heading back. Highly recommend for the ambiance and charm of both the interior and the staff.
I came to FinePrint for lunch on Wednesday morning with a friend and we had an incredible time! We had a fantastic server, Jackie, who gave us great recommendations for wines and food and was very kind and outgoing! She sold us on the feature beet Salad and it was delicious! Props to the chef for the great plating and taste. It was my first time coming here and I look forward to many more lunches
The branzino special was just fantastic! Everything was just delightful! I will be back soon for sure! Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Amazing food, service is amazing. We went for a birthday dinner and got a dessert on the house which tasted amazing! We got the gnocchi which chicken and cod. Both amazing dishes and presented beautifully. Recommend !
Ambience is cozy. Food is superb. Chef Francis is amazing, hands down. Service is efficient. But the receptionist was not friendly and accommodating. She should know her role is crucial in setting the mood of the guests.
This is one of the best restaurants in Calgary! :) I love it so much from the atmosphere and staff to the creativity and food, it is amazing. Every little detail is taken care of so the dishes look like art and taste just as beautiful, exploding in your mouth. The flavours are there and the passion is definitely prominent in every bite. There is a good variety on the menu and the cocktails are delicious and gorgeous as well. My favourite is the Hamachi Crudo with the yuzu vinaigrette - oh my gosh, so yummy! Will be back time and time again!
Delicious food!!! Excellent service. Beautiful Ambiance.
Great atmosphere, attentive service, poor quality control. My girl received lamb with at least 85% fat and gristle, good thing it was the 3rd course.
I absolutely loved this place! I took a chance on a last minute date night and could not be more happy. I love the open kitchen style and it gives off a 1920 s vibe to me which I love. You have to see it for yourself but the atmosphere is excellent for that intimate 1 on 1. The cocktails were amazing as was all the food and our host, Bella, was so knowledgeable with the menu, and not to mention so much fun! She made the experience just that much better and I got the same vibe from all the staff. They are really there to ensure your experience is top shelf. I will definitely be returning!
Amazing food. Best server, thank you Sarah!
Sarah. Best server, amazing meal.
AMAZING food and drinks!!! I honestly can t say enough about the quality of food and service. Sarah was a fantastic server who provided glorious recommendations and was a pleasure to be around. Between food and service, exceptional!!!!
Dined at FInePrint tonight and were quite happy with our visit. Surf and Turf was excellent and the Dusk was good not great. (no salt on the duck) Sarah was our server and we were both very impressed with her. She was attentive but not overly, new her menu and wines very well and read the room perfectly for our evening. The 5 stars are for her, food was 4 stars.
First time at Fine Print, they are excellent with allergies, service from Bella 5 star, food was amazing, overall experience 5 plus stars, will be returning as regulars! You can tell everyone at Fine print loves their job and role.
Just fantastic. The service and the food are just off the charts. Make sure to eat here.
They were 40 minutes late sitting us at our reservation and gave us no complimentary anything. Manager didn t give a toss. Food was par or slightly subpar for price. Waitress was very good. Overall much better can be found in Calgary.
If you are looking for the ultimate dining experience, it is definitely here! Every single aspect is absolutely perfect, from the incredible and attentive staff to the mind-boggling, most incredible food. The food is the best in the city! We came back specifically for the bison tartare and the gnocchi, but everything we tried was so deliciously flavourful and perfectly cooked. A must try!
Great experience! Excellent wine list and tasty cocktails - 6oz glass pours :) drinks are full size (not like other cocktail bars with shrinkflation glassware) Food is very creative with the taste to match. The hamachi crudo is a standout. Everything was very fresh and arrived at our table with minimal wait. Service was wonderful. We will definitely be back. thank you.
My partner and I hosted a group of eight for a client lunch at this place. The food was very good, and our server (Meagan) was outstanding. I would recommend FinePrint to any professional person seeking a quality restaurant for business lunches. Meagan will make them feel comfortable and well-cared for.
Had such a wonderful experience here last Friday. We shared the green beans, hamachi crudo, bison tartare and ordered the branzino and the duck as our mains. Everything was prepared beautifully, with the exception of the duck. (honestly I just found it a little overcooked but that could just be my preference.) Overall, the room was beautiful and still had the special feeling Divino used to inspire upon entrance. The decor is gracious but not overwhelming and the service is phenomenal. We were greeted warmly, and taken care of exceptionally throughout the evening.
Started the night strong with a non alcoholic amaretto sour, which is rare to see! Chef Francis and his team were so hospitable! Service was fast and everyone was super friendly. Recommend sitting on the high tops right next to the kitchen. Apparently a tasting menu is coming, so keep an eye out for that. Food was delicious, but my favorites would be the lamb shank and hamachi crudo. Beautiful interior as well. Will definitely be back!
I came to celebrate my 23rd Birthday last night. It was amazing. Michael is the BEST server ever. He catered to all of our needs and treated all of us with so much kindness. He held the door open for us constantly and truly made me feel extra special on my special day. He went above and beyond to ensure we had phenomenal service. He was super funny and kept us entertained the whole night. I want to thank the staff and everyone for accommodating my group and staying longer for us. It was a phenomenal birthday:) And the food was top tier. As well as the drinks :)
Beautiful decor and plating of food.
Absolutely amazing food and service. Each dish brought over was given to our table with an in-depth explanation to different parts of the dish and how the flavour profile was created. Reasonably priced for the size of dish I got, taste was 10/10. Worth giving a try if you re into a fine dining experience.
My wife and I ordered the following (with ratings) for dinner: -deviled eggs 5/5 -truffle bison tartare 4/5 -garlic gnocchi + prawns 5/5 -ribeye 4/5 -cinnamon sugar beignets 5/5 Considering this isnt a steakhouse, Im totally fine with very good (4/5) vs exceptional meat dishes. We enjoyed the creativity of the dishes and friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. They also have a solid cocktail + wine selection. Great spot for date night dinner or cocktails. Well definitely be back...will try lunch next time.
Fabulous service - Jillian was a great server, friendly, prompt and very knowledgeable - offering excellent wine and menu suggestions. The head chef Francis Martinez introduced himself to my girlfriend and I. We were celebrating my girlfriends birthday and were treated with a complimentary dessert. The food was amazing!! Strongly recommend this restaurant. Well definately return.
The tuna crudo and bison tartare were quite delicious but the portions were ridiculous for the price even taking fine dining standards into consideration. The burger and steak were also great, but the famous duck fat fries were disappointing. Too thin to have a crispy outside and soft inside and lacking in flavour. At least they had an in-house spicy ketchup. The beignets were too small to have the proper texture after being deep fried, but the chocolate mousse was nice. Lastly, it was very nice to see a white tea available, very rare. Service was a little slow for my taste, but he was an excellent, friendly waiter otherwise.
Such a beautiful place, reminds me of all the good places I loved to visit back home Luxurious interior but friendly and chill atmosphere. Amazing location. Great pricing. Great menu and service, loved the bar staff. Cocktails are top notch. Im coming back for a birthday cocktail
This is the best place I ve been to in a long time!! Highly recommend!!!
I took my wife out for her birthday dinner recently at Fine Print. The restaurant was informed it was her birthday dinner. I know in these inflationary times bread has been removed from many menus, but at a pricey joint like this, it would have been nice to wipe up some of the sauces and separate our pallets between courses. We ordered each course one at a time, which was nice, the kitchen responding on a timely basis. Many problems we had stemmed from a pretentious attitude. For example, we asked about substituting a disliked vegetable (green beans!) accompanying the Sable Fish entrée with another, but was told the chef made unchangeable pairings. The music being played was also very annoying: EDM (electronic dance music) which I believe is not suitable to a fine (and slow) dining experience. The manager corrected me that FP was actually a casual dining restaurant, as if that allowed the unsuitable choice of music, or responding to my reasonable request. The price for the evening was about $250 including tip, a not inexpensive night out. Price of some items were quite reasonable: the Brussel sprouts and pea soup, which were both tasty, to pricey: three scallops which had a fishy smell. For entrees, we had the salmon which was ok and the chicken, which was tiny (a thigh and bit of breast,) over cooked, bland and cold overall. Dishes do come with vegetable and carb sides which is a plus. We sat at the low tables in the back with most of the other evenings diners. My wifes birthday was never acknowledged. So, overall, a disappointment from one of the newest restaurants in the Calgary food scene located in the refreshed old Divino haunts. I expect to be treated well, my reasonable wishes accommodated and not to be condescended to.
While the food was pricey, and the portions were on the small side, the quality was very good. The restaurant had a unique and creative twist on the menu, the ambience and decor was also very impressive. Our server Bella was phenomenal, well informed, and very friendly. The service overall was great and I would go there again for a good meal and night out. The drinks were some of the best I ve had in Calgary.
Everything was seasoned pretty well here. Its actually hard to find a restaurant with great flavors like this. The beef tartar was good and my favorite was the sablefish. It was buttery with a crispy skin. The server was great. Portion size was fair and prices were inexpensive. Would definitely go back and highly recommend it.
Have wanted to try here for a long time and I was not disappointed. Drinks - delicious. Food - scrumptious. Vibes - immaculate. Overall - win.
We went to eat as a group of 20 and almost everyone left unhappy. The service was incredibly slow and the food was bland. The only thing we somewhat enjoyed was the salmon. Definitely not going back.
Top quality and elegant service! Very fancy atmosphere and the food is outstanding. I highly recommended any of their cocktail drinks. An amazing dining experience our server was extremely polite and very friendly! 10/10 experience
Indulged in a gastronomic delight @fineprintyyc, where sophistication meets quality. The tenderloin and ribeye were absolute perfection leaving us in awe From the historic building to the impeccable service, this is where memories are made and stories come to life. A touch of mischief and a whole lot of flavor! Follow me on IG @WanderingInYYC for all things Calgary
My wife and I love to dine out and are grateful that we get to experience some of Calgary finest restaurants - and I can confidently say... FinePrint is now on that list. (As a quick aside, if you live in this city (or are visiting), we are fortunate that Calgary has a dining scene that punches WAY above its weight... my wife and I travel a lot, and I am regularly in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver for business, and I can confidently say, Calgarys dining scene is absolutely first-rate and competes with the large cities and gastronomic capitals of the world). Back to FinePrint... We took my parents out for a belated Mothers Day / early Fathers Day - so a special evening - and we werent disappointed. FinePrint is an absolutely beautiful environ. Cocktails are superb, food was divine and service impeccable (our server Bella was a pleasure - a bundle of energy, and very knowledgeable). The oysters were as fresh as could be, the bison tartare was one of the best weve have ever had (we ordered a second to accompany our main), and the gnocchi was superb (my wifes Italian, so we know)... All in all, first rate. Mark my words - this place will make it onto some of the lists of Calgarys best, and maybe even make it onto Canadas Top 100!
We came here for cocktails after dinner, and we could not be happier. The last time I had a bartending experience at this level was at a 2 Michelin Star restaurant in Vegas. Could not be more impressed.
We enjoyed a delightful dinner at Fine Print. The server was very attentive ensuring we had everything we wanted, and paced the service perfectly, prompt but not rushed. The decor is beautiful, with lots of interesting art throughout. The food was delicious, we had lamb kabobs and corn fritters to start, and steak with polenta and salmon with vegetables for mains. The lemon tart was very lemony (in a good way). The Ube cake could have used more flavour, although taro root is fairly bland so perhaps to be expected? Overall an excellent dining experience, and we will be sure to return.
Food was great, My only complaint is that a mocktail is $2-$3 less than their signature cocktails and actually $4 more than a classic cocktail like an amaretto sour
We had a group of 14 people that went to FinePrint for the first time last night for a girlfriends birthday. We ordered a set menu in advance and arrived at 8PM and did not receive our first course until 9:45PM. When our main course arrived, everyone at the table had ordered either steak or salmon and not one meal had any flavour to it whatsoever. They didnt ask us how we wanted the steak prepared, but they arrived at the table anywhere from blue rare to well-done. When everyone started asking for salt and pepper, we noticed that there was a huge problem with the food (in addition to the 2.5 hours wait for the main course). One girl at the table told the server that we would not eat the meal and to cancel the dessert around 10:30PM. The server was kind, but the Manager Shane came to the table and proceeded to argue with another guest at the table. He said that if it wasnt cooked properly, she should have asked that they take it back and throw it in for longer. The steak tasted like boiled/steamed plain meat. He said yes, its boiled and it isnt flavoured because of guests preferences and they only use salt and pepper anyway (even though the sauce, veg and potato also tasted bland like other reviews have mentioned). It was a cheap cut of tough meat. He told her that she should have asked for salt & pepper to season it herself and told us the customer isnt always right. Another guest jumped in and said that she was shocked because shes never been asked to season her own meal at a restaurant. Disgusted by the temper and Managers behaviour, two of us said that we did not want to continue our meal and to cancel the dessert as well. He said this isnt possible because we ordered a set menu so theres nowhere for the dessert to go, its already ordered and that we had no choice but to pay for it anyway and he was very frustrated because he would have to figure out how much we owed. It was obvious that he didnt want to lose a penny on us and we were paying for the meal regardless. In addition to the meal taking 2.5 hours, some people at the table didnt even get drink service or it took over 30 minutes to get one. Someone else mentioned that they had to flag someone down everytime they wanted a drink, they were never asked. The dessert came and it was also completely flavourless and was delivered to the wrong seats, half of the guests didnt get any dessert anyway despite paying for it. The manager Shane also told us that they were busy when we arrived and it wasnt his recommendation to take a group booking and he didnt want us to be there. But the point is, they did. I have never had such appalling service at any restaurant and would not recommend this place. They also do not have air conditioning so it was super hot and sweaty in there unless you went to the basement bathroom to cool off from time-to-time. For price point, its very expensive for both food and drinks, $19 for cocktails and $16 for non-alcoholic mocktails. Id never eat here again, even though in the end the meal was taken care of only for 2 of us who persisted.
Wow. Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. Tried a little bit of everything and already I can t wait to come back. Here for a work trip so rolling solo and the staff were great. Just enough touch to keep me looked after but otherwise let me read my book in peace. Provided excellent recommends for the ultimate food and drink journey. I can t wait to introduce me friends to this place. If you like a dining experience: this place is for you.
Beautiful restaurant. Loved the unique artwork. Our food was delicious. We enjoyed the deviled eggs, bison tartare, lamb, salmon, beef and 3 of their desserts. All of it was top notch and the service was very good. Would highly recommend.
A beautifully curated space in the heart of Stephen Avenue. The entire vibe of the restaurant was perfect and well suited to the decor, music, atmosphere, and of course the delicious food. Service was great and prices were reasonable for a place that feels special.
Amazing food. We had a private dining area that was excellent for our group size. The sweet pea soup and the biso tar tar was delicious. We will be back!
Five Stars all the way! Fit and Finish - perfectly perfect. Service and Food Quality - simply put, FIRST CLASS. The menu has some favourites and some new gems that will delight the most experienced of culinary fans. Downtown Calgary needed this new kid on the block. Going back as soon as I can to try the new menu items. Thank you FinePrint... what a fantastic experience all around!
Excellent overall ambience, with great service. The staff were welcoming, helpful and ready with recommendations on wine pairings. The bison tartare was excellent, one of the best Ive had. I will be stopping in again when I come back to Calgary.
Excellent presentation. Good portion size for the price you pay. All dishes were well executed.
Fine Print is located in downtown Calgary, on 8th Ave. It is a short walk from the C-Train. The restaurant is located in the old Calgary Herald building, hence the name. Our server told us that there is a private dining room at the back with copies of the Herald from decades ago. To start I had gruyere cheese puffs. They were quite rich and I was happy to share them, as I did not want to eat so much before the main meal arrived. For the main I had the salmon with potatoes. The dish was described on menu as salmon with a side of warm potato salad. It seemed to be cooked potatoes with microgreens on top. The salmon was cooked nicely. I found the main portion small for the price. Had beignets for dessert. These were also tasty. The server was attentive and pleasant, but the every single course took a long time too arrive. It ended up being quite a long evening because the food service was so slow. The premises were clean and the decor was upscale. This seems like the kind of place that corporations might take guests to. It wasnt really a place for families due to the price and slow service.
Went here for a birthday dinner. They acted like we didn t have a reservation and offered us a table at the front with no real explanation. We were fine to take it. When we asked questions about the menu, our server didn t know anything and gave us generic responses. So we figured he was new (which we found out later he was). He seemed very new saying I don t eat seafood . Which is half the menu. We went ahead and ordered. Our appetizers came out great. Wonderful presentation and very tasty. We had the deviled eggs and scallops. Then we waited over an hour for our mains. About 30mins in they told us their kitchen was backed up. That was all we got. Nothing comped, no apologies, no free house fries nothing. We were looking for our server to ask for the bill but he walked out with our mains. Definitely over this place by then. Ate our food, it was fine. Our server took another 15mins to get us our bill which he screwed up. We asked if there was a problem with the kitchen tonight and he sluffed it off saying we were just slammed and one person short . Ya right. Also, fyi it s Stampede. Sort yourself out.
I had the best time here. Delicious. Great atmosphere.
I mean . The food is beyond A M A Z I N G ! The lobster salad thou !!
Good, if not a bit pricy. The bison tartare was good and the house made crackers were delicious. The burger was also quite good, but the patties were poorly formed/cooked. The patties came out quite thick, but still in a meatball shape and was about half the size of the bun. The best part of the burger was the toppings (chorizo jam/bacon/brie were delicious and the vegetables were fresh). For the price, the kitchen should pay finer attention to such details, but overall decent experience at this new Stephen Ave restaurant. As a diner, I can tell that this place is trying to put a high emphasis on the food. The ingredients are fresh and the dishes are thoughtful, but small simple things like poor burger patties make me second-guess that.
Hannah is amazing!! Not sure why she isn t a designated server yet!?
Great food
Amazing Food and Great Service!
Very friendly but slow service. Good is decent but nothing I d return for. I had the devilled eggs and gnocchi. The lobster egg was very salty I couldn t eat it. Gnocchi was bland. Presentation is great but taste leaves lots to be desired.
Great food and great drinks can only be topped by the wonderful staff and service. FinePrint is always top of mind when thinking of grabbing dinner or after work drink. Highly recommend!
went here for my birthday dinner & it was fabulous. great venue, better food & fantastic service. if you re stopping by, Logan makes the best cocktails around!
I stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Beautiful venue and ambiance. Exceptional and friendly service. The Grilled Kuterra Salmon Salad was SUPER delicious! I enjoyed the whole experience and cant wait to go back.
The cocktails, food and atmosphere were 10/10. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a cool vibe with great food. Our server Bella was also amazing!
Great menu. Loved the tribute to Divino on the menu. Service was great
Love this place . Took my wife here for dinner on our 21st anniversary on a recommendation. Great location and nice atmosphere. Our waitress was awesome and provided top notch service. Brought us sparkling wine on the house !!! Come to find out, she was also Portuguese so made for some great conversation the rest of the evening. The star of the night were the chefs as they prepared some of the best food we have ever eaten. Will be coming back and highly recommended!!! Thanks FinePrint!!!
Chef Francis Martinez created an amazing meal for our group of over 40 people! The entire event went incredibly well without a single issue (that we noticed, anyway). Props to the entire team for such a memorable evening!
The food, staff and atmosphere are brilliant! I we had a large group, and they took amazing care of us! Truly, a memorable evening!
Great restaurant with a fresh theme. Food was top notch, service was excellent, atmosphere was laid back. Glad we came and tried it out.
Listen the food here is wildly delicious . But Nothing and nowhere compares to the service this place provides! We ll be back for sure!
Best service Ive experienced in a long time. Mike actually cares if you have a good time. Cool vibes great value.
Service was great, food was amazing, the confit duck in particular was wonderful and the writers block cocktail was a stand out
The food is amazing, every bite was full of flavour and you can tell it s cooked with heart. The atmosphere was amazing as well and the open kitchen was beautiful. The pan seared fish and duck highly recommend- Shout out chef eric and Megan for making our visit truly memorable. We will be back to try the new menu soon !
A must try! This is not only a gorgeous restaurant with a open kitchen and a wide selection of wine, (even non alcoholic options if you don t drink) and wonderful staff that make you feel so welcome but Chef Francis Martinez is so talented and the food is AMAZING. One of a kind. It s a full experience the moment you walk in the door until you leave.
One of the best meals I have had in a long time! We were fortune and got to sit at the Chiefs table. This is just the bar area looking into the kitchen. I was unsure at first but after a few mins I was so happy we were put there. Dee Dee was so welcoming and friendly greeted us and offered us an appetizer while we looked through the menu. She was making a ton of things and I loved watching her work. She made an absolutely amazing Bison Tartar. We also got the Roasted Brussels Sprouts which are normally not my favorite thing in the world but these ones were to die for! But the star of the show was the Tenderloin it was melt in your mouth and beyond tender and juicy. I have had a lot of Tenderloins in my life and this one was one of the best I have had. Francis came over to chat with us after we ate he is the head chief. We discussed food and the restaurant and the upcoming changes to the menu for fall! I had a blast talking with him and am excited to come back for the fall menu. We also had desert which was just as amazing as the meal was. From start to finish I was happy and content! If you have not been yet I would recommend it 100% it is an amazing restaurant full of wonderful people!
Thank you for the amazing food & service that made my birthday memorable!
An excellent experience for a birthday celebration! Diligent and thoughtful staff were highlights of a beautiful variety of flavors and composed dishes. Looking forward to coming back soon!
This place has the best of everything. Ambiance, great service and delicious, beautiful food!
What a neat spot. Food was amazing and excellent service.
I loved the food and the service by Patrick was great. The only issue was that the food took exceedingly long to come out and we didn t really feel looked after. Will definitely come again and hope for a better outcome!
The service and the food here is incredible! Chef Francis has an incredible palette and you can tell there is a lot of passion behind this place! Will definitely be coming back very soon
Fine dining with the best bartender in the city. The bar is beautiful with great prices and great selection of liquors. The restaurant itself is extremely beautiful unique with their sarcastic looking pictures on the walls. Their service is top knotch and the food and drinks are unique. The smell of the food punches you in the face with fragrance and the drinks makes you never want to leave because of how good it is.
My partner and I came in for our anniversary, Michael served us and was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. He made our night! We had the bison tartare which was perfectly prepared, the scallops which were fresh and tasty, and the gnocchi which was creamy and truffle-y. Logan mixed us amazing cocktails while Holly and Eric cooked our food to perfection. Special thanks to Martin who ensured quality and made us feel very special. We ll be back! Best restaurant in Calgary!
Excellent food and service.
An excellent steak frites lunch complimented by a great house wine. Beautiful interior space. Well worth the visit. Definitely going to return.
Friendly staff, nice ambiance, delicious dishes and light but satisfying desserts!
Decor is excellent and the ambiance is amazing! The lighting is perfect - not too dim (so I can actually make out what s on the menu without pulling out my phone flashlight). I really wish I could have enjoyed the food a bit more but unfortunately I may have had a bad oyster which caused my belly to flip flop resulting in a visit to the bathroom (which by the way is very nicely done)! It s definitely a place to go with a small group to have a taste of everything. My oysters were not shucked/rinsed well as I did end up biting into some shell pieces. The few dishes we ordered were quite tasty. Overall it was a nice newish place to try out for us. I got a complimentary chocolate mousse for my birthday and it was a nice touch that they made note of it from our reservation. (The mousse was delish and just the right amount of sweet and salty. The size was perfect for one person. I don t eat a lot.)
We came in on a whim just to sit at the bar but were enticed to sit at the roost and watch all the action. Very entertaining! We spoke with Chef Martinez and our server, Michael was attentive. The staff are passionate about what they do and it shows. Our food was delicious; from the tempura green beans and grilled squid to the salmon and sable dishes all done to perfection. The chocolate mousse was the perfect finish. Wine pairings and bar service were impeccable. The ambience and noise level were comfortable. This restaurant is set up for a fun gathering at the bar, small gatherings, date night, a business dinner or private functions in the back. Come on a Tuesday evening for Chef night and enjoy the tasting menu. I hear there is a fun, private speakeasy downstairs. This was a pleasant surprise and one of the highlights to our trip to the city. We will return!
Excellent service and kudos to the kitchen for preparing our selections to perfection!!!
Beautiful venue and super tasty! Michael, our server was super attentive and wonderful, and we were offered free champagne for my birthday! The Hokkaido scallops were perfectly done, and the sablefish was a highlight. Loved the cocktails as well!
$8 for a bottle of water. Insane. They don t tell you that, I ended up paying $16 for water because we got still and sparkling. To make it worse, they didn t leave the water on the table and I was pretty much thirsty the entire meal. Will never return here. Food is irrelevant when they sneak in ridiculous upcharges with no communication like that.
I do not do reviews ever, but last night my father and I dined at fineprint and our experience was so so fantastic that I had to try and let other people know and the powers that be just how impressed and satisfied me and my father were, he can be a hard customer to please. The food was spectacular, and we will be back for that alone. But it was the service that blew us away and made for such a wonderful visit and experience. Our server was named MEAGAN, I worked in the service industry for 15 years, so I know how difficult it can be to work a busy Saturday night, and how skilled a server must be to juggle multiple parties and tables with countless courses and demands. And often times good service can still feel rushed and chaotic. Not the case with MEAGAN, she was extremely patient and attentive to both me and my father, we both tend to talk, chat and ramble with any server, regardless of how busy they might be. And at no point did Meagan make us feel that we were taking too much of her time. Truly, my dad left feeling like he and I were Meagans only table, because she was so attentive and polite, never once making us feel like she was too busy to listen to our stories. It was a very special Christmas tradition last might for me and my father, and Meagan set the mood for one of the best experiences to date. Thank you Meagan, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and everyone at FinePrint
5 of us went, we shared a bunch of appys and mains at lunch, food was really hit or miss, service was really weird.
Beautiful restaurant!
We went on opening night and this place is destined to be one of the top restaurants in Calgary. The design captures the history of the space while including modern elements that are fun, appealing and in some cases captivating. Most importantly the food was extraordinary; the menu has something to tempt everyone s palate and our dishes exceeded expectations on every level! Cocktails were fun and interesting too!
Had a great time at this new restaurant. Didn t even know they were open yet, just walked by and popped in for dinner. Everything was amazing. Must try the tartare. Service was outstanding.
Had a fantastic time here grabbing a few cocktails with my girlfriend after dinner here. Great vibes, friendly staff and awesome drinks. Cool new spot - definitely worth checking out.
Incredible food. Incredible service.
Fine Print is an amazing restaurant. I was a big fan of Divino and love that they kept a lot of the historic design and the yummy tempura green beans. They have added a cool modern swanky vibe. Food was great and the staff was fun! Can t wait to go back and check out the speak easy type lounge.
OMG FinePrint was everything I hoped it would be! Divino was a long time favourite and I was devastated when it closed. I was thrilled to check out the new FinePrint and was so happy that I loved it just as much as I thought I would. The menu is fantastic and the tempura green beans (an homage to Divino) are just as good as I remember. The tartare, scallops and devilled eggs were all fantastic. The tenderloin was perfect. My server Jill was a dream and recommended a fantastic bottle of Spanish Tempranillo that was a hit. I will be visiting often!
Very nice upscale restaurant and a welcome addition to the area. Good service and wine list. Food was good but pricey
What an amazing addition to Downtown Calgary hospitality! The space is absolutely beautiful. Check out the cocktail menu - you will not be disappointed! Highly recommend Fine Print!!
Service was friendly, but slow (took 1 hour to get our food ordered, busy server). Food was mostly okay. Inconsistent salting of the food (every few bites is a salty bite). Deviled eggs - chorizo one was tasty, truffle one was boring, and lobster one was so salty and the lobster was not fresh and smelled/tasted very fishy. Tartare - salty bits, too many flavours competing, rosemary crackers were tasty. Pea soup - best appy at the table. Addition of bacon gave it a great flavour. Duck - over cooked and super salty bits. Had to ask for a steak knife. Salmon - this was okay. It came with a side of horseradish bearnaise that did not complement the dish. Unfortunately I added it to whole dish. Bites without it were much better. Gnocchi - best tasting main. Added shrimp was okay, but not necessary. Sauce very well made and full of seafood flavour. Desserts - we didnt order any, but due to the overcooked duck, the chef sent over some desserts. Overall they were quite sweet. The raspberry tart was crust heavy but tasted good. Chocolate mousse was rich and flavourful. Coconut panna cotta had way too much going on. Beignets were okay. Too much sauce on top. It would have been nice to have dips instead of slathered in sauce. Overall, glad we tried it. Definitely wont go back. For the price I would expect much better quality and taste.
Delicious food and vibe, love the new design. Service was awesome.
I stayed in Alberta for a week, and I spent the evening of my final day at FinePrint. It was probably the best food that Ive had in Alberta :). Great atmosphere and service as well.
I visited FinePrint for the first time and had a amazing experience. The lively atmosphere on Stephen Ave. transitions you perfectly into the dining area with a warm welcome, good music and friendly faces from staff. My favourite space is the open kitchen in the main dining area that pulls back the curtain so you can experience how your food is being prepared. Francis, the head chef, even visited our table to ask us how we are enjoying our first bites. The food was delicious from the seared jumbo scallops, to the truffle bison tartare, and the glazed duck with couscous. Every bite was wonderful! Even the cocktails were very tasty and made perfectly to compliment the food. The chocolate mousse was my favourite dessert. The surprise touch of salt brought out the delectable flavour of the chocolate. I strongly recommend FinePrint for anyone who is looking for an enjoyable night out for fine dining and good vibes.
Food is fine but quite over priced for what you get. The charcuterie board for two people consisted of 6 thinly sliced common cheeses, 6 meagre pieces of mediocre cold cuts, and a few tiny samplings of ickled accompaniment for $28 seemed over the top. The old fashioned a were fine but too sweet but definite marks for the ice cubes. The bussel sprouts delicious but again way over priced for what you get. Left hungry. Sevice was fine. Cant say I would go back.
The food was nothing short of fantastic. Service was friendly and prompt. Ask for tap water otherwise you re getting an $8 bottle of Voss. If FinePrint can consistently deliver this level of quality, I look forward to returning many, many times.
