Saltlik in Calgary

Wow. SALTLIK was an amazing experience. From the atmosphere, to the delicious meal, accompanied by some astounding cocktails. An absolute 10/10 experience is to be expected at SALTLIK Calgary, so I highly recommend coming down to experience a high quality steakhouse with an exceptionally romantic ambiance.

My cousin and I headed to Saltlik in Calgary one weeknight at 8:00 p.m. The place was buzzing with activity, and we were seated in a cozy booth near a grand fireplace, although it wasnt lit, making the atmosphere a bit chilly. The service staff, especially the waitress, were outstanding and accommodating. They split our salad and main courses without any fuss so we could share. The mocktails were delightful, eliminating the need for alcoholic drinks. While the prices were a tad high, the overall experience was positive. The restaurant exuded an old-school, conservative steakhouse vibe, which, although not my usual preference for a more contemporary setting, still provided a good dining experience.

We came here to celebrate a birthday and among the great experience we had, by having roses and a birthday card at the table was by far the best touch!! I work at a hotel and focus on guest experience, so I thoroughly enjoyed seeing such a lovely touch at our table! Kudos to Saltlik for this concept. It really shows theyre on top of their game. I would highly recommend Saltlik as a spot to celebrate...anything! Not only do they deliver on great food with fantastic service but theyre in a prime location. So, for us, its a no brainer to recommend.

We had our Christmas party here and they did a great job. A lot small bites that were all tasty. The drinks were a bit pricy but very delicious.

They offer good quality of steak and service, everything else is normal.

So good we had to go back. Thanks to Chris, James, Hasif, Emma-Siobhan, Chad, Lane and Dylan for two amazing dinners. The Alberta steak, salmon and pasta were first class, but the friendly service and care really made the nights a real Canadian experience.

I think we must have interrupted the staffs afternoon off. Had to go find the waitress...actually, couldnt find her, so went to the hostess to see if she could get our food tabled after waiting 25 minutes during an apparently low demand day. Had to ask her for iced tea refill (waitress was nowhere to be found). Our first meal in Calgary and I found the prices to be near-exorbitant. The day managers response is below. Three months later, I have yet to hear from her....

Not great. Steak was overcooked and chrewy and the Lobster was rubbery. Not worth $100, maybe worth $40

We were upstairs for a private event. Excellent food, service, and venue. Parking: They don t have their own parking. You re at the mercy of downtown parking. You might be able to find free parking after 6pm within a few blocks on weeknights. Otherwise you re paying for street or parkade/surface lots nearby. Many office parkades will have cheaper evening/weekend rates.

My boyfriend and I came in tonight for a late night dinner and the food and service did not disappoint, our server Sierra was super friendly and helpful with the menu, and the scallops and gnocchi are must tries. Definitely will come again!

I had dinner with a buddy here last night before the Jim Jefferies comedy show at the dome. Gabbie gave us the best service Ive had in years. Thank you, Gabbie for the review of the new items on the menu. We went with one of them. The balsamic glazed short ribs. Please extend my words to her and make sure she is the standard of what I expect when I go out. Great job. Wonderful tasting food. Beautiful wood and leather accents throughout the restaurant. Amazing the amount of space on all 3 levels.

Really enjoyed our meal. The biscuits are not to be missed. I had hunter chicken and my husband had the rigatoni. They were both delicious! And we finished with the sticky toffee pudding to share...oh my that was sooo good!

Im not sure how Saltlik can claim fresh ingredients when the parsley that comes on the steak is wilted and half dead, or the meat that was ordered medium rare requires a chainsaw to cut through. Any of the drinks have almost a full cup of ice (aka a cheap way to fill the cup without actually filling the glass with liquid). Our server forgot the drinks order (although she did come to check on us several times). This used to be a place wed take our preferred clients for dinner, but now I wouldnt even take them to Saltlike for lunch

Excellent food, great service

It was a special occasion, we were seated by the Kitchen entrance, the restaurant bathrooms are under construction and we were detoured through the kitchen and upstairs to use the washrooms.The food was mediocre at best (French onion soup was good) Their wines were definitely pricey. Service was mediocre.

My husband and I have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food at Saltlik. Yesterday, we we attended a private event Julia and Tara were absolutely amazing! So kind, organized and fun to chat with. Great sport downtown Calgary, steps from the Hyatt and Calgary tower. Denis was fantastic and very accommodating. Good and drink were on point. Great evening with the family during a visit to the city.

Stayed one night in Calgary and decided to come here based on the good reviews. Food and drinks were excellent as expected. But the service from Trevor and Carmen was what made this special, extremely knowledgeable, helpful and happy. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Well, well. I wasnt expecting such a gloriously great gastronomy. And I didnt find it! Well ok, I did, the steaks were superb, chicken captivating, shrimp were scrumptious, and the bread- it was beneficent. Prices were startlingly high for a retired vet with expectations of a more modest meal. However, it was nice. One small complaint I suppose, the vegetables, the prices for a small side dish of vegetables such as mashed potatoes cant realistically support a stratospheric price unless they can some how magically back up the price with flavour or other magic. The potatoes were sad and did have huge failings, powdered potatoes are more flavourful and less runny than those were. No ones perfect, certainly not me, but from a poor man to a rich one, maybe give us commoners a little justice. ;)

My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner while on vacation. The staff treated us very kindly, bringing us flowers and celebratory drinks. We had the tuna tartare appetizer, a Caesar, a guava-watermelon cocktail, and we both got the strip loin, all of which were excellent. We probably should have shared a steak, because we were unfortunately too full to try the sticky toffee pudding. Overall a peak dining experience

went to Saltlick for a birthday dinner and was blown away with both the quality of food and service. The appetizers came in a timely manner and calamari is one of the best I had every. Not greasy , crisp and light. Steaks came perfect cook and was a good cut. Generous portion of vegetables. The price was fair and great quality. I dont think anyone should bother going to keg or other steakhouses. Saltlick nails it out of the park. There is something for everyone here from pasta, to burgers and of course steaks. Already excited to go in the near future.. Our waitress was lovely and gave fantastic recommendations. Dietary restrictions: good with them

Took my Sales team out for a nice dinner and they did not disappoint. 50% off wine bottles on Wednesdays! The meals all came out perfect and we had one happy crew leaving. We will be back for sure.

Great ambiance and excellent food

Finally got to come here with my husband for a romantic dinner and it was my first time there! Absolutely delicious meal, very attentive server, and nice seating by fireplace. 4 stars for atmosphere as the staff was all around nonstop with their loud banter and another staff group holding meeting after meeting at a table nearby. I wish that aspect was more toned down for the sake of people there to have a relaxing dinner and enjoy the atmosphere because it was distracting and took away from the ambience as you want it to feel like the atmosphere is meant for the customers enjoyment and not the other way around. Only other issue was that for the price there should be the sauces ready at all times especially far from closing time and being a slow evening. I asked for the Bernaise and finally got it when I was pretty much done my steak.. otherwise it was a good time I will be back again.

My bf and I went to Saltlik before we went to the theatre last night. We ordered appetizers and meals. We got our appetizers and they were sooo yummy, my tuna tartar was amazing and my bf got the biscuits (a little overdone) but he finished them. Our entrees were a little late - but our server Doug was on top of things and making sure what was going on. Finally our meals came and was not upto par, Trevor got me a new steak - but it was not cooked at the temperature I wanted - but they did their best - very professional and we could have not been more happier with the service! We did come back after the show to have dessert and had a steak sandwich which was SOOOO yummy!!!! Thank you so much to Trevor & Doug for your amazing service, We shall be back again soon!!!!!

My husband and I visited Calgary for the first time and were blown away by our experience at Saltlik. The service was another level - we actually thought they confused us with someone famous because we were being treated so nicely. The food was so incredible and exceeded our expectations. We had the braised meatballs and the ahi tuna as starters and the filet mignon with Brussel sprouts (I usually dont like but they were so good!) and short ribs for our main. Everything was perfect, but the braised meatballs were the star of the night and would rival any Italian Nonas. You could tell the love and care that went into creating all the dishes and providing us with such a nice dining experience. This place is a must-visit when coming to Calgary and we will definitely be back.

Great place in a great location. I ve eaten here before and it was delicious then, still delicious now. I ordered the salmon with crispy Dijon brussel sprouts. Loved it!! Salmon was cooked perfectly and the flavor on the sprouts was amazing! I could ve eaten a whole bowl of just the sprouts. I had the tuna tartare app. Also delicious and crave-able. The only reason I have to dis credit them is on presentation. The salmon and sprouts were just kind of thrown on the plate. Plating could ve been a touch prettier. The servers were great and super attentive. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Some of the decor is a bit dated, but not a huge deal.

Our overall experience was fabulous, we had a warm welcome when we walked in. The waitress Mikayla was so easy to get along with and she had a good energy. We had some food restrictions and she was super accommodating and thoughtful. The food was absolutely outstanding. We will most definitely be back!

A Must-Try! I had an incredible dining experience at Saltlik. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender and perfectly cooked. The service was exceptional - our waitress Natasha was attentive and made us feel welcome. The cozy atmosphere added to the overall charm of the restaurant. Definitely recommend!

Three of us were just in. Food was HEAVEN. Absolutely nothing wrong or a single critique on any of our plates. Your non five star review is due to our server (Gavin?) barely checked on us, no refills on drinks, we would have LOVED another two glasses of your delicious Riesling but no up sell on that. He made us feel like an inconvenience rather than appreciated clientele. A real shame, we won t be back as I m not giving you $160.00 of my hard earned money to be treated as a burden.

Nice and welcoming place, very friendly and sociable staff but the cuisine did not satisfy us. We took 2 different steaks, both requested rare but one instead arrived with the wrong cooking (overcooked) and with a missing side dish. With 2 accompanying beers, the bill was also quite steep, a whopping $140. In short, I would choose something else.

First time in Calgary and someone recommended this place when I mentioned wanting steak. I had the sirloin with peppercorn sauce and mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts, followed by the molten chocolate cake. Paired with the Talbott Pinot Noir. Absolutely amazing place!! The brussel sprouts are heavenly-and I dont typically like brussel sprouts! The Maître D, Trevor, was phenomenal at helping me find the right wine for the evening. My server, Sydney, was phenomenal and so friendly, and Izabella, one of the managers, was kind enough to remove my glass of wine from my bill as they ran out and werent able to give me a full 8oz. The whole experience was superb and the food was sublime.

Good place for business lunch.

Beautiful restaurant downtown. The food is bland and uninspired. Our waiter was insufferable and the kitchen messed up all our orders. They claim to be a steakhouse but cannot serve a medium or mediu-rare steak no matter how hard they try. Expensive for no reason at all.

All good the calamari a little salty

I didnt feel this steakhouse was worthy of its hype. Service was good but not memorable. Atmosphere felt a bit dated and the food was no better than your typical steak house. I was expecting more for what we paid for dinner.

Had a very lovely experience being served by Jetta last night when my friend and I were in town. She and the kitchen were very receptive to my feedback on the waygu carpaccio dish and graciously offered to replace the dish and bring out a new one according to my feedback. She explained that they are a tester kitchen and therefore want that instant customer feedback to improve the menu ASAP. We came in during a busy evening with no reservation and felt like we waited a bit longer than usual for relatively simple orders and follow up. However, whenever a staff did check in they were all attentive, lovely and accommodating. The menu items looked great, but our orders tasted a bit bland, so I would advise some work on that which they made clear they re open to. That being said, the customer service was so impressive that I would be open to coming back again to give it another chance.

This place was alive!!! The food was divine and so pleasant to eat. The girls bathroom made me feel like a princess with all the complimentary items like mouth wash, hair ties, pins, and women essentials. The staff were so kind and helpful. Love this place!!!!!

On vacation in the area; liked the name of the restaurant so we did a quick online investigation and decided to give it a go. Happy we did! Gigi our server was amazing, cuke mules were refreshing on a hot day and food was fabulous. Ordered fried calamari which was made gluten free and it was fresh and tasty. Had the filet mignon dinner and a ribeye steak was split between two in our party. Espresso martini and a warm chocolate cake rounded out our meal. If you re in the mood for beef you can t go wrong! One of the best places to eat in Calgary, especially if youre visiting. Gigi, our waitress was so friendly and gave great suggestions on what to eat. The sirloin was perfectly cooked and very tender. The rigatoni pasta with the pork was also extremely tasty. I absolutely recommend the chocolate cake if you love a good dessert. I would definitely visit Saltik again if I ever go to Calgary again.

Wasnt going to write a review but after waking up with food poisoning only right thing to do. Waitress and horrible trying to up charge and get us to order more food and premium liquor. Doesnt bring any waters the whole time even though asked her twice. Forgots Brussel sprouts and pretends they are still making it in the back. First time here definitely will never return. Still in pain today.

This restaurant has hands down the best steak and sides Ive ever had! The filet with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes is to die for. It is worth every single penny. The drinks are good too! One of my favorite places in calgary for sure.

Okay first of all the server Sydney is TO DIE FOR! The cutest, most professional, and intelligent server I ve ever had. Second of all.. the food was SPECTACULAR! The calamari, sirloin steak and hunter chicken were just mouthwateringly delicious, served at a perfectly hot temperature. My third and final highlight were the marvellous cocktails carefully crafted by the amazing bartender Dylan! For sure a 100/10 experience, must visit!

Saltlik has so many delicious dishes! From the appetizers like buttermilk biscuits (perfectly fluffy), tempura shrimp, calamari and duck fat fries (all so good), to the mains like the pork milanese (the best), prawn spaghettini and ribeye. Last but not least, dont miss out on the apple pie and tiramisu. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great too. We all left full and very satisfied!

This place was a an amazing find. So glad we stumbled upon it. It was so good, we went there two nights in a row. From appetizers to deserts, they did not miss. Im from the south in the US and loved the buttermilk biscuits. The ribeye was wonderful and so was the apple pie! I m love consistent excellence. Can t wait to come back to Calgary. Ive been going there for at least 6 years. The ahi tuna tartare is one of our fav. We got there...order 3..one of them we substitute the chips for few slices of cucumber. First of all....the portion of the tuna did change a lot. Like half less than before. But the worse....they charge us $5,50 for cucumber slice! Really Saltlik ...youre that cheap....well... that was the last you time will see us. Good luck!

Unusual and amazing tempura prawns, excellent blackened salmon dish, refreshing Caesar salad. Try the de-alcoholized rosè wine and dont forget one of their incredible desserts. I d buy the cookbook if they had one

The food was pretty underwhelming. The menu was average and rather boring. The pesto pasta and prawn pasta were pretty basic and barely lukewarm. Two bites in and it was cold. The cocktails were basically a few sips and empty. We went to the Calgary location. For the cost, it was disappointing. The three stars is generous because the decor and service were decent.

Where to start. First impression was nice classy place . My Wife and I are here from Toronto for the Calgary Stampede . My first pet peeve is the fact that we were never offered water as all the other tables though out our evening were getti g water. Our service was amazing but as far as our food goes it was very much under par. We orders the Bone in Ribeye w/ Lobster tail. For a price of a 100.00 dollars per plate this was a joke. Our steaks were only about a half inch thick and mostly fat and gristle. If a ribeye is not at least an inch thick whats the point of trying to sell it for 70.00 dollars a steak. I think i could cook a better steak on my own grill that i get from my local butcher that is an inch thick for about 40.00 dollars a steak.

My husband treated me to a delicious date night at Saltlik! The food was absolutely amazing!! I got a medium rare Certified Angus Beef® Sirloin, 7oz with Creamy Burrata added to my veg and mashed potatoes - absolutely to die for! My husband got the SALTLIK Burger with the duck fat fries, we left there absolutely stuffed! Our waiter Doug was an absolute delight, everything you could ask for when it comes to service! Thank you for making our date night a fantastic one!

I ordered the scallops and gnocchi. It was so bland there was no taste difference between the two. Husband ordered bone in ribeye and it also had no flavor.

This is an example of a great dining experience. From the reception, the food, the great wine and the hugely attentive staff, this is a favourite spot where you live in Calgary or are visiting!!! Super central and walkable to many pre and post locations, highly recommend!!!

Had the wagyu beef carpaccio to start, it was really good. the hunters chicken on the other hand was meh, very salty and that was the only flavour I tasted. service was non existent

First time dining here and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. Booked through Open Table after reading through reviews of downtown restaurants. Our server was the amazing Justin! We cant speak highly enough of his service. He provided great recommendations on steaks and wine and the food was outstanding! Probably the best ribeye Ive ever had! He recommended the apple pie for dessert which was so good! The scoop of vanilla gelato on top was a great accompaniment. Big shout out to Trevor the manager too for coming over to check on our experience throughout the evening. The staff here really do go above and beyond to provide the absolute best dining experience. We HIGHLY recommend dining here if you are in town and looking for an amazing steak served with fantastic Western hospitality!

We had the most incredible gentlemen serve us at saltlyk. The food was amazing honestly so impressed it made our whole layover. The young manger told us it was his passion to make peoples days better and he sure made ours exceptional: a gem of Calgary!

Not very good for the price. It was a fine steak but nothing you cant get at Earls or the Keg. Asperagus was undercooked. The sticky toffee pudding tasted like it was out of the box. Would not recommend, especially at this price point.

We were visiting family in Calgary and we checked out this place for dinner. Loved everything we ordered. Steaks, Hunter chicken, the apple pie and toffee dessert were all delicious. Even the Brussel sprouts were flavorful. Great service as well.

I was there last night and the host, our server Francine, the food, all 10 out of 10. I cant say enough about the lobster mashed potatoes though, those could cure depression, anxiety, heartache and cancer. 1 million out of 10.

We went to the Saltlik for mother s day and the whole evening was perfect. Food was amazing and so was the service. We were greeted with a complimentary drink for the mom in our group, enjoyed an a delicious appetizer (calamari) and the entrees were perfect.

I love Saltlik restaurant, especially since our visit yesterday. Our server Keenan was very nice and friendly, he was polite and made it a great experience for us with the nice conversations we had! The food was amazing and I am excited for our next visit!

Our second visit to this restaurant, reason for our return was because of the great food we had last year when we visited. I had the porkchop with Tiramisu for dessert. Service was impeccable and the meal was delicious. Highly recommend

Great food - steak was done perfectly.

The steak here is incredible, although it was a piece of calamari at the door that brought me in. That was delicious. The shocker though was the Brussel sprouts. Yeah yeah, you hate Brussel sprouts. Well let me tell you, the only reason you hate them is because you havent eaten the ones from here yet. Just so good. I was looking for more! And trust me, there were plenty.

Extremely attentive server that was very knowledgeable about the menu and everything they had to offer! All steaks were cooked to perfection. Sides were interchangeable which was nice. Atmosphere and ambiance made for a great dinner.

We went here for a quick bite to eat at lunch time. We had the Rigatoni Allamatriciana, with the buttermilk biscuits and it was fantastic. Service was on point. Food was on point. Great location, great Ambience. Id highly recommend checking it out.

Great place to come when you are not yet done with your day. Sit back, have a cocktail, and soak in the hustle and bustle of the inner-city. From business tycoons to your average Calgarian, the food at the Saltlik will not disappoint. The salmon is my absolute favorite. It is mouth watering. The staff, however, if dressed like you are a rancher or small town person doesnt seem to be as attentive unless you are dressed to impress. If that changed slightly, this would be 5 stars hands down for anyone coming to the city for a good meal.

Saltik is a special place for me and my husband and it never disappoints. The service and people are outstanding. The last time we came we were so well taken care of. The amount of detail and energy the staff places in their customer is outstanding. The food is phenomenal! I cannot speak enough about our experience here. Thank you for helping us celebrate a big milestone and we cant wait to come back again.

Our party of six had a delicious meals with well-made cocktails! Our server Alexandra was super nice and patient with us even though we couldn t decide what to eat because everything looked amazing. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Highly recommend Saltlik if you want a nice fancy dinner with good service and good food.

Every time we come here the service is incredible and the food is better than any other restaraunt around. We arent from Calgary, but this is our go to place when we come here.

Came for lunch, was sat immediately. Service is so attentive. It s definitely an upscale spot, very clean with classy decor. I got the blackened salmon, crispy Brussels sprouts and a shot of vodka. The salmon was so fresh, and Brussels sprouts were delicious too. A little pricy but worth it

Love this place. I was in Calgary for three days and went three times, because each visit was great. Perfect steak and sides. The calamari is the best Ive ever had. Great wine list. Happy-making.

Alex Riggin was an amazing server, she was very personable, knowledgeable on her product knowledge, very friendly demeanor and caring personality made you feel like you were a valued client!. She has a very positive can do attitude!. Her service and attention to detail was outstanding! She also would check to see how you were enjoying the food and if there was anything else she could bring you or offer you... My glass was never empty and she was absolutely amazing with her attention to detail! I was offered to go out to the patio as my original plan was however as Alex was such an amazing server I decided to stay inside the restaurant so that I could continue to have the best service I have ever experienced in many years... She brings the kind of service you would get in a 5 star establishment is the best way I could describe her level of service! If you come down to Saltlik, you will be in great hands with Alexs service!

Very expensive

Pretty good food, nice that the steak sandwich comes with mushrooms, its expensive though, did get many mashed potatoes. Bang for buck is a bit weak but food is above average.

Came here for a birthday dinner and SALTLIK did not disappoint. The service was outstanding! Our server was helpful, informative and extremely down to earth. For a starter we ordered the Tempura Shrimp, it was phenomenal! Perfectly crispy and had a nice spice. For the Main Plate I ordered a 12oz New York Strip. The steak was wonderfully flavourful, my only complaint is that I had ordered the steak to be cooked medium rare but my steak was more rare especially as I got closer to the bone. For dessert we got the Chocolate Molten Cake, it was very rich but had a Berry Compote that paired nicely with the cake. I would recommend coming here!

Came in here looking to get a nice slice of steak. Ended up getting fully serviced, dined and satisfied by this restaurant. Justin was our server and gave us the best service I could ever ask for. We ordered fillet mignon, hunter chicken and calamari. All dishes were great.

**This review is dedicated to THE CALAMARI** I don t eat meat (though I do eat seafood), so I was a bit skeptical at first when my friend s bachelorette was booked here, as it is a steakhouse. However, I had the best calamari I ve ever had in my whole life. Yeah, the other pastas we ordered were good too, but omg, the calamari it was the best of the best. I would come back here again and again just to eat that amazing calamari, and I will order it just for myself, not for sharing next time. Our server was amazingly friendly, and the host even served us free champagne when we arrived. However, they were a bit slow in bringing tap water, so we had to ask about four times (different staff) to finally receive our water, haha! The food portions were small and pricey, in my opinion, but since we didn t order mains, it might be different for those. We also ordered some cocktails; I wasn t really a fan of the first cocktail I ordered, the Vanity Fair, but the second one, the Moscow Mule, was okay. Originally, they had cucumber mule on their menu, and because I don t eat cucumber (they are stinky and disgusting to me), when they ran out of cucumber and started making regular Moscow Mules instead, which I prefer, it all worked out for me. I also had a house draft ale beer and it was ok, nothing special, just an average red ale beer. Their restroom was on the level below so you will need to go down the stairs. Overall, from my experience, I would say it s a fancy steakhouse interior restaurant with a friendly staff, chill vibe, with amazing calamari. If you are planning to go here, please order the calamari; it is the best lol.

My husband and I went for our 4 year anniversary and it was our first time. We got greeted at the door and seated right away in a lovely small booth. Our server greeted us quickly and then came back with two glasses of sparkling wine to celebrate us on our special occasion. Then we ordered our drinks and food and everything was so delicious. The wagu carpaccio was to die for! When we got our steaks my husbands was a little too cooked for his liking but our server right away asked if the kitchen could cook him a new one. He got his new steak and cooked perfectly rare. We were blown away by the service we got. Trevor (the manager on floor) came to our table and apologized about the steak (which we were having an amazing time regardless of the steak) but it was much appreciated. Overall, we will 100% be coming back because of the over and beyond service we received.
