The Living Room Restaurant in Calgary

Tonight me and my husband had our anniversary dinner at the living room. My chicken meal was very pink and looked undercooked. The server expressed they use a pink salt that can tint the meat. She advised it was cooked and to continue eating. She started if it was chewy to call her back. I cutt the meat in half and it was worse and I stated I would eat more as I didnt want to risk getting sick as it was clearly undercooked. She took the dish to the chef who proceeded to said it was cooked and returned the dish. I asked for a new dish to be sure. The second dish much different... since the 2 bites I have been vomiting and clearly have food poisoning. Over a 300$ meal to be told to keep eating the raw meat until it was chewy and to be argued with and now up all night sick. Not impressed and wont be back.

Food took a while to be served and it was undercooked chicken and risotto. Not the best tasting food, but for the expensive price and type of restaurant, I was expecting more. Service, servers, and aesthetic were great, however.

Mediocre food and overpriced drinks. The servers are disoriented and disorganized.

Had an outstanding dinner last night at The Living Room. Lee was our server and she was so expert - down to earth and warm but very professional. Classy! We had oysters, cheese fondue, and shared the crispy skin chicken which I swear is the best chicken Ive ever had. It came with a mushroom risotto that was excellent. The atmosphere, service, and food at this place makes it my new favorite.

Great atmosphere to kickstart the night and have a few drinks. I would recommend eating your main meal beforehand and just having small shareable plates here; but drinks and atmosphere are great.

Went for Friday Fondue. Had the Peach Gin Arita. Food and drinks were great! Staff were super friendly. Would recommend! The covered outdoor area by the fire place was nice.

Had dinner here tonight with my spouse of 16 years. Our server was Sophie and she was amazing! We ordered the cheese fondue and when asked about what some people normally get for options available she gave a wonderful answer. Sophie was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. The white wine we had (blue mountain sauvignon blanc) paired well with the cheese fondue. From the first bite I felt like I had gone to heaven. We had the chocolate fondue for dessert and it was to die for. Easily one of the best meals weve ever had. 10/10 will definetly go back again.

I dont review but i had too with this one. Its a nice vibe. However the Fondue was trash, yes both of them. Its like toddlers are putting together the chocolate fondue. Where is the esthetic. Also im pretty sure the pork belly and beef were of very poor quality or it was rotten. 1/10 would not recommend.

Went last night to celebrate a birthday. Fantastic service and food. Just one question, the steak tar tar used to be made at the table. It was great to watch. Did this end? It was quickly mixed at our table but not like before. It was delicious just wondering. Desserts were amazing

This was honestly one of the most INSULTING restaurant experiences I ve ever had. I m not the type to leave a review but I was incredibly excited to bring my partner here for our anniversary, as I ve always had a stellar experience at the living room but after the dining experience I had today, I had to express my distaste. Firstly we arrive at the restaurant for our 7 o clock reservation, for context, I requested a decent table a week prior when I booked our reservation, they tuck us in the back corner, in the tiniest table, facing another couple (very awkward) we then requested to switch tables as we were ordering the fondue and knew we d need more space on the table, they refused our request and in sum told us to suck it up we ll make it work secondly, the fondue comes, and the portion sizes were far from acceptable for the price. I paid $14 for an addition of tenderloin, they gave us 4 PIECES, for 14 dollars, such poor value and simply not worth it. What an insult. The waitress also refused to acknowledge me but happily acknowledged my partner, when I thanked her for serving our food she wouldn t even look at me but happily acknowledged my boyfriend. Not great service, insulting portion sizes, save your money and go elsewhere. I m SO disappointed to have had this experience as the living room has been one of my favourite date night locations for years. I don t know how service, value for money, quality and atmosphere can tank so rapidly but that s clearly the case here.

Sadly disappointing. We were referred by a chef and true foodie. The service was friendly but not great albeit server was busy with a large table. We would have ordered differently with better input. Lasagna was excellent. Beef tartar was good. Chocolate fondue mistakenly served cold then microwaved to warm. Not remade. Kinda grossed me out having cold choc fondue premade. Unexpected at this level. While I think it was an off night we still won t return. Many better options.

The food and ambience were good, but the pacing of service was so fast we felt rushed. Our appetizer (steak tartare, which was good) arrived within five minutes of ordering. Five minutes later, our server came by and asked if we were done with our appetizer, and we let him know we were still working on it. Two minutes later our entrees arrived anyways, despite the fact that we clearly werent done with the appetizer. So we rushed to finish the appetizer and the plate was quickly whisked away. Right after eating our last bites of food, the server came to collect our plates and asked if we wanted dessert. At that point we said well just grab the bill since they seemed so eager to be done with attending to our table, but we still had half of our drinks to finish. Again within one minute, the server came with the bill and the payment terminal, ready to go, at the same time. So we paid, at which point all water refills and service were abandoned as we finished our drinks. We were in and out within 40 minutes, and that was even with us lingering to finish our drinks for 10-15 mins after payment. I appreciate the attentive service, but considering it wasnt that busy I have no idea why the service was so rushed. And the food coming out so quickly on a hot plate makes me think this was already made and plated well before I ordered.

It s a nice restaurant, we sat outside, there was a party inside and it was too loud even outside. The food was amazing. The drinks were nice too.

Started with good service but then we felt like we were forgotten by the server.. no water refill nothing. Food was ok...nothing special. Had higher expectations of it. I would rather go to nearby restaurants serving similar but better food

Came all the way from kelowna and met the best bartender in the town. Reece is a vibe and definitely a person you wanna interact with.

Party members had Salmon and Lasagna and both said they were pretty good apart from the lasagna portion being a bit small. I however ordered the 10oz ribeye, cooked medium rare and what I received was a well done, brown steak. It was also under-seasoned and overall a very disappointing experience.

Drinks were good, food not so much. Both entres came cold and the salmon was severely undercooked, completely raw on one side. Mentioned it to waiter and nothing was done.

I ve come here quite a bit through the years, and I was really excited to take my friend who is visiting from Finland and give her the same experience I had previous times coming here. The restaurant wasn t busy on the Thursday night. There were two tables, one of them being us. Instead of looking at the table where we sat, which clearly he would ve had time to do. Instead, he assumed the worst of us. I had left the payment for our bill with a 20% tip on the hundred and something we spent there on the table. Instead of checking there first, he chased us down the street, shouting at us in public that we had dined and dashed, which was humiliating and not worth coming back to this restaurant ever again. I m not saying he s a bad server he did his job well and gave us service however that really was incompetent to not even check the table before chasing us down. Overall, the restaurant is very nice but that experience for me being the quality that I thought it was supposed to be was just the end of the living room for me

The Living Room is one of the most refined but relaxed restaurants in Calgary. The food selection is always top tier, we particularly recommend the aged cheddar truffle fondue as the rotating selection of accompaninments keep it interesting and fun to share. Special shoutout to Cliff, one of the part owners who spends time connecting with guests and making the experience even more enjoyable. Thanks for being our special occasion spot for 15 years!

The original Shaft - wowza!! Drink fast and enjoy. Lovely little restaurant in the heart of the eat zone in 17th! Great spot for a quiet and relaxing meal. Don t forget to grab one of Calgary s originals. Food : 4/5

My wife and I came here to celebrate our 40th birthdays on Saturday night. Hostess upon arrival seemed slightly annoyed with our indecision on where to sit but eventually got to a nice table beside the fireplace in the heated atrium. Served by Jennifer who was amazing! Truly made the experience for us. Great suggestions, down to earth and cared about all the small details. Tartare was amazing as always and while we declined a birthday dessert finishd our experience with some birthday bubbles. Thank you!

Got there at 10:45 for a drink on a Friday night and they told my group that they did last call already to turn my small group away. I ve been here many times before and never felt so unfairly treated by the staff, I strongly believe the gentlemen at the front simply was not fond of my group demographic. Terrible experience.

The Living Room hosted a retirement party for us, approximately 30 people. They did an amazing job! The food was fantastic, the serving staff were awesome, it was a perfect venue for us! Highly recommend!

Yummy share plates and cosy atmosphere. Server was from South Africa (sorry I don t recall your name!) and was really gracious, down to earth and attentive. Everything was yummy but the broccoli salad was especially delicious.

Lack lustre. I specifically chose the LR because I have dined here many times and for our anniversary and for the YYC Food Experience. The service was perfect. The braised short rib was dry. The bread pudding was dry (desperately needed caramel drizzle). The absolute best thing was the vodka martini. I will recommend this place, but Im only going back for Shafts lol

Came here impromptu with 10 people for some drinks and appetizers mid afternoon. The service we great, the food was good and the cocktails were excellent! The bruschetta yum! The broccoli salad also V good! The beef tartar could use a bit more salt it was kinda bland, and the cucumber salad was kinda strange but overall very good experience!

A friend and I went there for brunch. We were the first ones there and only one other couple was there throughout the meal. The server at first made us feel rushed to order and then when we were catching up took way too long to come back. That being said my friend ordered there version of grilled cheese with tomato soup with an egg, she asked if the egg could be cooked and put inside the sandwich instead of the soup. The server said she will ask the kitchen and let us know. I had asked for their eggs Benedict. The server did not ask for the temp on the eggs. A fair bit of time later while my friend and I were waiting, our food just arrived. Without any answers and not how my friend had asked. The food tasted good but the server took no time to describe the portion sizes. It was simply loaded with potatoes on the plate and a very thin sliced Lanzo on the eggs benny. DO NoT RECOMMEND. Overall not a pleasant experience. Will not go back for brunch. Perhaps dinner may be better.

Stop by there after work, after finally arranging for a babysitter for our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised about being offered complimentary bubbly, as well as the overall atmosphere, service, and delicious food.

It s kind of a cool place. This is the kind of restaurant that has small plates and you just want to share your food. The fondue is properly the main attraction. The price is more on the higher end price range but overall very nice. A good place to go for drinks and just relax. Please make sure you do t have a huge appetite. .

Spent $200 on a 4 course Valentines Day special. The appetizer was basically just a mozzarella stick... Seated right by the window with heater blasting me in the face the entire duration and homeless people watching us through the window. Also, Didnt realize this place was right next to a schawarmalicious.

Took my 11 year old daughter on a date night and we decided on the cheese fondue. The food was very good and the staff treated my daughter like a VIP!

I would return to this place again & again with family and friends! My friend suggested Living Room because she attended a work event here and just loved it, and now I am hooked. Professional, friendly, and efficient service. Their cheese fondue is to die for! Based on other reviews, I was skeptical about getting a side of shrimp with it, but they were cooked & seasoned beautifully. I m also not a chocolate person, but the chocolate fondue was heaven! Loved the little meringues that come with it. We sat on the patio by the fireplace, and the waiter was nice enough to adjust the temperature several times for us. Try to go early for their awesome happy hour menu. Thanks so much for a fantastic time!

A wonderful Modern Dinning experience. The Fondue was great

As someone visiting from the Toronto region, Id heard some pretty rave reviews of the spot and believed it would be a nice visit even though we were fit in to their schedule at a pretty unreasonable time, which is understandable, considering their huge fanbase. That said, the food from the get go was very very average or below average. The main I chose was very hard to go wrong with but was somehow achieved, especially with the layers being partially cooked. When paying higher prices for a dish, Id expect some level of customization. While the flavor was great, it was not cooked well, and this might be partly due to the fact that a lot of the staff were more keen on celebrating with their friends than actually tending to the people dining in. Desserts are for people with the sweet tooth. But what if the desserts themselves are not sweet? Pretty sub-standard. I wouldve preferred going in to McDonalds for a cheap swerve ice cream instead. Got the bill handed halfway, seemed like a big call for the tip. Best thing I had was my basic drink, which you could not mess up since it was a drink that did not require preparation. The only saving grace was the setup and ambience of the space. Lot more options to choose from in Calgary in the same street. Unfortunate letdown, I really had high hopes.

I came in with a friend to try the infamous Living Room Shaft and it did not disappoint! Our server/bartender Luke was incredibly personable, recommended Lions, Tigers and Pears which was delicious! Would definitely recommend coming in and asking for Luke! Prices are reasonable and the service was awesome

The service and the atmosphere were really nice considering we were in 17th Ave: However, the food could be better. The ravioli was very watery and the portions of the other pasta dishes are minuscule. The desserts were good though and the peach gin-arita drink I got was good as well. The banana cheesecake was the winner of the night, the whole table loved it. My overall rating would probably be 3.75/5.

This place has without question provided the best dining experience Ive had in Calgary. The balance of price point, food quality, atmosphere, and quality of service makes this place, pound for pound, the best restaurant in the city. Somewhere you can go for casual drinks with coworkers/friends, but also go for special occasions - it is essentially what every restaurant should strive to be, and what is unfortunately sorely lacking in the vast majority of other establishments. Ive previously worked as a chef/cook/server, from fine dining to greasy spoons, for almost a decade, and most people with that experience can tell you when a restaurant honestly executes the quality of the image that it purports - and this place does just that. The price point of most dishes are similar to that of most chain restaurants, but here you are most certainly not eating microwaved Sysco garbage plated by a 16 year old - the food is of great quality and very well executed. Would and will highly recommend this place to anyone that wants a genuinely great all around dining experience, no matter the occasion.

Great location, friendly staff and an intimate setting. The private dining rooms are great for company functions or group bookings. The food was good, although the mushroom soup was lot more like French onion soup and tasted awful. The parking kinda stinks as well. Overall a good spot though.

Went for the fondue experience for 2 with two meats. It was a pretty decent fondue experience. It borders between being enough and not being enough, so if you eat a considerable amount, plan on a secondary meal! It encompassed bread, seasonal veggies (some pickled some not). Thankfully we had a enough cheese - that is one major bonus. The meat we picked went pretty well with the dish - and was precooked. Our drinks were delicious. The space was cool, unique, a little cool for temperature where we sat, but not cool enough to need a sweater or jacket. All in all a good place to try!

First time here, great atmosphere, and food. However was not super impressed with the service unfortunately. My wife and I had a dinner reservation for 6:45 and recieved our drinks pretty quick. We placed our order shortly after but didnt get our food till about 8:00. Granted it was a busy night I think that over an hour wait is a little over the top to be honest. Overall though great menu options would definitely recommend for any couple looking for a nice date night.

3 years ago I gave The Living Room a 5 star review for exceptional food and one of a kind ambience. They have since expanded the restaurant to include a covered outdoor space- previously just a seasonal patio I assume. I made a reservation weeks in advance to celebrate a special occasion with my partner and we were sat outside by a young guy who seemed annoyed by our presence in his expression, body language and tone of voice which was off-putting. It was chilly even with fireplaces and heaters (maybe the heaters werent turned on?). The atmosphere outside is not good, the equivalent of any bar on 17th. The special cozy interior feeling does not carry through and spoilt the evening, feeling cold and like it was not a special occasion/restaurant. If I knew before booking, struggling to find and paying for parking I wouldnt have come. 2 stars still for delicious fondue. Sad to have a poor experience at a place we used to love.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal and outstanding service! We arrived as a party of 3, were warmly greeted and seated quickly. Our server Justin was very engaging and attentive, making us feel able to settle in, relax and prepare for some great food. We enjoyed some of the small plate selections, beef tartare, roasted carrots, charcuterie, cheese fondue and finished with the chocolate fondue. More than enough for 3! The atmosphere was fun, inviting and included many personal touches, including manager Bal stopping by our table and asking about our experience. A wonderful night, great food and we can t wait to return!

Best beef tartar and cheese fondue in the city!

This is an excellent place to have a dinner outing with friends. We had the Steak tartare, oysters on the half shell, pan seared salmon, sweet potato gnocchi, spaghetti all amateiciana and cavetelli. All were received excellently and everyone in our group loved the food including the snobby chef amongst us. The Mocktails and cocktails were also wonderfully crafted. The service staff were incredible, super friendly and helpful but also engaging in wholesome conversation and witty banter making the evening even more enjoyable. I would definitely go back for another round of this place for a date night or just dinner with friends. The only complaint is the acoustics of the building and table spacing, It made it slightly difficult to hear conversations at the table being in close proximity to other tables.

We accidentally made our reservation on Open Table for a Living Room in Beverly Hills (oops), but they figured out a way to seat us despite it being a busy Saturday night. It was my husband and Is first time at the restaurant and we will definitely be back. We sat in the outdoor covered patio and we were warm enough. We made sure to use the washroom to get a peek inside and the ambiance is really classy. Food was good, do not miss the crispy pork belly you can order on the side of your cheese fondue or the banana cheesecake. I could go back just for that! A lovely date spot or place to meet with a group of friends.

Excellent ambience, service a food. We had booked the heated atrium and even in -20 they obliged. The fondue was excellent, the charred toast with dips was divine. We had mock tails and the passion fruit virgin margaritas was good, would have been excellent if served int he right glass. The main course was very good, especially the sweet potato gnocchi and the Cavatelli. My Mom loved the tortellini with Guanciale.

Nice atmosphere, delicious cocktails, food wasnt bad either. The only thing I didnt like was that we returned the ribs after having a bite, and the dish wasnt removed from our bill. Everything else was great.

Only giving 3 stars despite our server and food being amazing. Or server deserves 5 stars for sure, she was very attentive, happy and no request was too much for her. We requested to sit on the patio. We didn t know that as soon as we ordered a private event started next door and us seating by the fireplace sharing the wall meant we would be able to physically feel the music. We re not ones to complain but it was too much even for us. We asked the hostess if we could move inside and she agreed but sure wasn t happy about it. We told her that we re sorry for making her do extra work and apologized multiple times and she ignored us the whole time making it a really awkward experience. Mind you, we were the only customers there at 4:30pm on a Sunday and it was just the 2 of us. Bartender working there left the bar and walked by us burping loudly and not covering his mouth or apologizing. He went back behind the bar and continued the rest of his shift on his phone with his back to everyone (I supposed that s a good thing considering he likes to let his burps go) only stopping to make our cocktails. As a bartender I can tell you the way he makes his drinks is also lazy. He shook the cocktails and poured them into an empty glass using the same ice he shook the alcohol with instead of using fresh ice and straining the alcohol to not make it taste watered down. The only reason we won t be back will be because of our server s lazy coworkers.

Great ambience and service, amazing food and cocktails.

The restaurant is nice and the food was good. However, the lighting is atrocious. As someone who suffers from migraines, the light was very triggering for me. Its halogen lighting, like you would have in a kitchen. The light is blinding as its shining directly into your eyes. Maybe it didnt bother other customers, but I will not be returning to the restaurant for that reason.

We both enjoyed the cheese & bread immensely and highly recommend that! The whipped feta was to die for. However, we were quite disappointed with both our mains (cauliflower & ribeye). The cauliflower was a big hunk of cauliflower that came with two very potent sauces. The ribeye also came with two different green sauces and it overshadowed the meat. Both had way too much sauce for the meal. We ended with the chocolate fondue for two which was all right but nothing to write home about. The best part of the fondue was the little Rice Krispie squares, which were unexpected, but delightful. Service was fine. Ambience was nice.

What a great place to stop and have a meal. They have a very nice patio thats heated. We had the cheese fondue with sirloin steak for protein. The fondue came with a basket of bread and a plate of veggies. They also gave us potato chips as one we needed a gluten-free option instead of bread. They are pooch friendly!

Very attentive staff. Food has been lovely in the past. Disappointed that the iconic Shaft cocktail is now simply poured on draft. No longer a reason to go out of the way for the real deal.

This was our second time here. First time we went on Valentine s Day a couple years ago and had the set menus which was fantastic. We just went back and tried the cheese fondue which was delicious. Service was amazing, drinks were really good too. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

We had a great time at The Living Room on a Saturday night. The service was great. Our cocktails were impeccable; we had gin martinis (filthy, full of olives, with very tasty gins available), the Plum Sour, the Frosty K Fruit, the Lions & Tigers & Pears, and the Peddlers Shanghai Gin cocktail. We loved the cheese fondue with vegetables, bread, and we added the petite tenderloin. Who would have thought pickles and pickled beans would be amazing dipped in aged cheddar? The atmosphere was comfortable and trendy. The overall experience was extremely favourable.

Food is subpar.. but the service my boyfriend and I got was excellent! Leigh was so kind and understanding after I accidentally ordered a dish with seafood.. which I am very deadly allergic to. Definitely 10/10 on the service :)

We didnt have a great experience here. For starters, they put us at undoubtedly the worst table in the restaurant even though there were plenty of open tables around. This made no sense to me. We were shoved into an awkward corner facing the wall behind a huge booth where there were only two people seated in a booth for at least 6. The difference in care there was pretty gross. Second, the Blue Fresca mocktail we ordered was bright red. Not a big deal but a server that doesnt even know the colour of a drink is at best questionable. It also wasnt very good. Third, my partner ordered the compressed cucumber salad and it was an absolute soup of dressing. Absolutely drenched, with a huge puddle of liquidy sauce left when she was done. Salad was soggy and wilted and the tomatoes tasted old. Really not good in almost every way. I had the beef cheek agnolotti and it was pretty good. No complaints there. I also had sourdough focaccia and that was okay. Two pieces of toast for 6 dollars, you be the judge of that. Just cant get over the seating decision. It was just so bad, and the waiter even apologized for it when he sat us!! Why sit us there, or even have that spot available, if youre gonna apologize when you seat people there?? You can say we should have asked for another seat, but you shouldnt have to do that. Just kind of unacceptable for a restaurant thats pricing themselves in an upscale category. It was a new experience for us and we actually regretted going there sadly. Just a big miss for us. We wont be going back when theres lulu and porch next door.

One of our favorite restaurants on 17th, great food, decent prices at happy hour, good service and good atmosphere. But can be a little loud on the patio due to 17th, just be aware.

Exceptional service. Waitress made sure to double check there would be no issues in accommodation for food allergies, appetizers came out quickly and the manager was very helpful when some party members weren t completely in love with their dishes . 10/10 would recommend

Very loud on the patio so opted for indoors. We were seated right next to the private dining section but the booth seat was extremely uncomfortable because it s curved. I think that section is actually meant for a 4 or 6 top table, not two 2-tops. Service was extremely slow, we waited at least 40 minutes between dishes. A very rowdy stampede-adorned crowd hung out by the bar (not sure why grouped standing guests are allowed) and were basically yelling amongst their group. Giving 4 stars for the benefit of the doubt and hopes that a second visit not during stampede would be better. Food was very good, no complaints there. And server was very kind.

Open room so was a little noisy other than that it was excellent!

Very dissatisfied with the whole experience. When spending over $100 we expected a better experience. The people around us were cussing, screaming and jumping on the couches. The food quality did not quantify the price. I would not recommend this place on a weekend, better options down the street.

Bring salt and seasonings. After passing by this place for over a year, we finally decided to stop and check it out. With all the choices available on 17th ave, we should have just kept going. It wasn t bad, just not good. The patio is cozy, but the food lacked flavour. The portions were also very small. I m not expecting supersized portions, but they are small compared to the servings at other restaurants in that price range.

Great food but very poor service. Our server was having a lot of issues and management wasnt there to support her. Unfortunately, I dont think Ill be returning.

Went here last night and got the beef pasta. It was literally 5 pieces of pasta on a plate. What a huge and horrible disappointment. I wasn t expecting that for that price it was more like an appetizer, i was still so hungry after. Please take that item off the menu as main course as its not a filling meal at all

I wanted to have everything on the menu.. what a spectacular ambiance.. I am a chef and I am particular about my food and I was stunned with the precision of the food right down to the plating and the way every flavor hits your pallette.. a true gem in the city. Lovely atmosphere. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli, which had a lovely hint of lemon. I recommend asking for the pork chop de- boned and sliced. It was excellent. And our sever Rachel was friendly and helpful.

Perfection from every angle. Food was unmatched; we had the oysters, asparagus salad, a variety of cocktails, cheese fondue and a delicious Tuscan wine. Luke, our server, was exceptional. Super knowledgeable and very attentive. On a Saturday night the patio was hopping but he took the time to make recommendations and ensured everything was to our liking. We are fairly esteemed diners and the Living Room checked all our boxes. Will definitely return when in Calgary

Pretension place with absolute 0 service. Brings the bill when you are not even halfway through the dinner. So many better places to explore on the strip. Half way done my beverage before dinner and already craving for a tip! Bar tenders doing shots with those at the bar and don t even pay attention to those waiting. Place is a complete 0! Unless you are the pretension type looking for attention. Try it for yourself and when you get the vibe - don t feel underwhelmed! Try the ship and anchor and save your money for a way better time and atmosphere! Literally 20 steps away and you will thank me.

Definitely a late review, but we visited during Feb of this year for my birthday dinner and I still think about how amazing the food is there. I would highly recommend visiting!

This is a great place for dining.

Dined at The Dining Room as part of the YYC Food Fest, and we had a great experience. We sat in their heated atrium and enjoyed some delicious food with great service. The restaurant is a nice mix of casual and formal tables which we appreciated. Parking can be a bit of a challenge on busy weekends but there is a lot of 2 hour parking on the side streets just north of 17th Ave. We will definitely be back to try the regular menu! (First up will be the charcuterie and cheese fondue as they were by far the most common dishes coming out of the kitchen aside from the prix fixe menu).

Great place to get together with friends share some Fondue and laughter. Food was amazing service was great.

The ambiance and the service was great, however the food not worth the money. I ordered potato wedges and it came with 6 pieces. Also the spinach and ricotta ravioli came with 5 pieces which I think is expensive for $22 and was very blend and not too much taste to it. Overall it was good to try out a new place.

Anywhere I have worked that I still love to eat at you know the food is good! Always have a sweet spot for this restaurant

A wonderful birthday dinner, the food was exceptional and the service top notch. Our table next to the fireplace was a cozy spot to relax and enjoy the delicious food that came our way their chef is truly a master at his craft and dropped by to extend best wishes to the birthday girl, a nice touch. Our waiter was a true professional, attentive and welcoming. We ll look forward to our next visit.

We came to The Living Room to celebrate a birthday on the recommendation from a friend, with the same recommendation for the fondue. When seated we ordered a drink each, which for their $17 and $18 price tags, were miniscule. This would quickly become a theme for the evening. We ordered the bruschetta and the cheese fondue for two with pork belly and beef tenderloin. The description on the Fondue indicated it came with toasted baguette. The bruschetta was fantastic and easily the best part of the evening. The fondue however was extremely lackluster. The toasted baguette was cold and didnt have a hint of being toasted, the texture combination between that and the fondue was not appealing. When I inquired with our server about the lack of toast, she stated that it was not supposed to be toasted, despite the menu clearly indicating otherwise. The pork belly and beef tenderloin were nice, with the tenderloin easily being the better of the two. The problem being that you pay for the meat separately, and as such would expect them to come in separated portions. This was not the case and the pork and beef came out in the same container which, like the beverages, was absolutely pitiful in its proportions for the price. Also the absurd ratio of meat vs cheese in the fondue most likely results in the restaurant having a ton of cheese left over as food waste, unless they are recycling their cheese between guests which would also be absurd. We finished the evening with dessert in the form of the creme brulee and banana cheesecake. While nice, we were shocked upon initial tasting to discover that the creme brulee was extremely tart. The server told us this was due to the Yuzu that they added to the creme. Overall the creme brulee was nice, but due to the added Yuzu did not have the consistency of a proper creme brulee, and was fairly liquid. Overall we were disappointed in our evening at The Living Room, after it received such high praise from the people who recommended it to us, and we most likely will not be returning as there are other options that offer a better value for the $200 price tag. The 3 stars is only because the bruschetta was so good, otherwise I would have given it 2. Final note: Although not an expectation, The Living Room did nothing to acknowledge the special event as input when booking the online reservation. Photos are for reference as to the size of the meat container, and the untoasted bread.

Held a private function at the Livingroom last night and everything was excellent. The food was outstanding, lovely wine selection and working with their staff was beyond smooth and enjoyable. Our server Luke was so plugged in and absolutely professional. Would highly recommend Livingroom for any private function. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating to dietary restrictions.

Great place to sit, eat, drink!

This is probably one of the longest standing restaurants on 17th ave. This was my first time back in about 15 years. We ordered the mussels and fries along with the chocolate fondue and some drinks. Drinks and mussels were delicious. The fondue wasn t as good as I remember. Overall a good experience.

I went here tonight for the first time tonight on a date. It was definitely loud, but we were fortunately seated in the back corner, so this allowed us to actually have a conversation. The only issue I had was the tables being so close and the creepy drunk old man beside us staring at my date the whole time. The food was AMAZING! We got the oysters, Sturgeon, and half chicken. They were all quite good. I would definitely go here again. Good date restaurant, but maybe not at 8 on a Saturday evening.

Very disappointed. The evening started with a bottle of Prisoner Chardonnay at almost $100 which the waitress opened and I tasted to discover it was at room temperature (31c) when I asked why it was not chilled she said we only chill the regular sellers not the more expensive wines Perhaps the Resturant can purchase another wine fridge? Then the food came, and not to my surprise my wife s mussels were undercooked. The main course were brought out while empty starter dishes were still on the table, but with wait staff that couldn t be over 20 years old and clearly had next to no experience what could I have expected? Won t be going back.

Dilan was bartending for us on Sunday and we had an amazing brunch and delicious afternoon cocktails. Just to find out he actually runs the place. Could not believe how professional and personal he is. 10 out of 10 recommend this place.

This restaurant met all my expectations. I recommend trying the fondue with the specific protein options they have. In addition, service was great and excellent recommendations were provided.

Cheese fondue was the only good thing. Had the Korean short ribs which arrived cold and were beyond chewy with no real taste. Worse part was the people shouting and screaming in the restaurant which no manager took the time to address.

Soooo. I love the living room. It s my favourite restaurant in Calgary. The service on our birthday reso was disappointing. Our server was very clueless with the menu and was unable to recommend us a drink and food choices. She never offered to get someone more knowledgeable (my two guests had never been there before so they were very interested to hear about the cooks, the food or the history) and just left us with well, everything is good here so . Every interaction was awkward. We always needed water but the servers kept the water on the wall-ledge that sticks out from the wall, instead of our very roomy tables that could have accommodated it, and we could have pour our own water. The wall-water situation was very strange looking, not very fine dining. Very weird. The food was good and it might have felt more worth it if the service was the same. No one went out of their way to say happy birthday to us, even though our reservation was booked as a birthday celebration. No one mentioned anything about it. Living Room, please test your servers regularly. It was a disappointing experience. Not what I would expect at a fine dining experience. I ve been coming for 5+ years and I have noticed a dip in the restaurants integrity. I made the wrong choice for our birthday celebration as The Living Room didn t feel very special at all.

We had a staff Christmas function here, in their private space downstairs, and it was a fantastic evening. From working with us on the menu selections to our fabulous server, Acacia, we were treated great and had a wonderful night. Thanks to all who contributed to the experience and the food. We will definitely be back. Dietary restrictions: We had some people in our group with food sensitivities and they catered to their needs without any problems. Thanks.

Be nice if they could be reached by phone just to order I cannot reach them. Not okay. It says to order on door dash. Tried that then it says temporarily unavailable on Door Dash. Lol. I guess this is meant to be walk in only because I cannot order through Skip, Door Dash. A waste of time trying using every option possible for delivery options. This restaurant does not answer phones as I called 4 times. It it a money making operation, not caring about customer service, only good food. Sad Ohh well, there are many other restaurants to contact as I wish this company did not lie on their online site as there are absolutely no online delivery options.* False advertising

Shafts are the main reason we head there before a night out and if there s no room to sit, they have a shaft window you can so you can pop in and enjoy their delicious espresso bevy quickly! Staff has always been remarkably kind, efficient, and keep the restaurant super clean! Love this place so much! Thinkin of the tartar is making me hungry just writing this! :)

Best lounge in the lower mainland for Hookah with drinks with no compromising on the service. Mike the owner is really good easy going person to whom we can request for changes if need to with no extra charges. All in all best place in town.
