Offering a scenic rooftop area with 7-foot glass walls and an energetic outdoor patio, The Wilde pulls out all the stops with an abundance of dramatic elements. Choose from a refined selection of wines and cocktails, along with imaginative and upscale dinner fare surrounded by a vibrant social scene.
A very nice venue for a special occasion. We tried Chef's tasting menu, and every dish was excellent, unusual, creative, and very tasty. The amount of food was a bit excessive.
From the moment you get off the elevator, you feel very welcomed by the staff here. Their attention to detail is second to none. The staff do everything they can to make your experience special and unforgettable. Not to mention the food is spectacular. There are many unique dishes that look and taste amazing. Thank you to the Wilde team for always blowing us away every time we stop by for dinner.
Cocktails were amazing! Service 10/10, he was super nice and friendly! A great spot for a girls’ night out. Unfortunately, we were too late for dinner :( but we’ll definitely be back!
We really enjoyed our dinner at Wilde on 27! We had a lovely table inside and got to watch the skies change with the sunset. We had non alcoholic drinks, entrees, and dessert and everything was delicious! The plates are well thought out and the servers are knowledgeable of the menu.
During our week-long visit to Calgary in August, we decided to spend our last night dining at 'The Wilde on 27th.' We booked in advance, and upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Arjan, the host. He escorted us to our table, explained the menu, and checked in with us throughout our stay. We were thrilled to find our table right by the window, offering a stunning view of the Calgary skyline. Denise, our server, was excellent. The food was great—we especially enjoyed the bison and beef. The outstanding food and exceptional service make us eager to return on our next visit to Calgary in the fall. Thank you to Arjan, Denise, and the entire team for their warm hospitality and making our evening memorable.
Dinner at The Wilde on 27 was another amazing hit for us in Calgary. The view of the city was a nice touch, but the food and the service was impeccable. Hats off to Denise for being one of the best and going above and beyond to make our evening fabulous!! She has definitely left a lasting impression on us and we hope the next time we return she will be there :) Onto the food and drink - the menu is in a form of a book, fitting to the hotel’s theme after Oscar Wilde and The Picture of Dorian Grey. Everything burst with flavour, every dish, every element of it. We started with the foie gras and rounded it with the short rib and risotto. We ended off with a deconstructed carrot cake which was beautiful to look at and also delectable. Our drinks were also very delicious, especially my lavender butterfly. If you are in Calgary or headed there, definitely check this place out :)
The place is very classy and pristine. We had the pleasure of being served by Denise and boy is she so attentive to our needs. She is pleasant, very knowledgeable of their menu and a top tier server. I had a friend in my table whom she served before and she said lots of good things about her too. The food is visually appealing and is truly worth the visit. Love the purple butterfly drink I had. I also love the beets, a little on the smaller side though. The bison is a melt in your mouth and the cacao dessert is chef’s kiss. Love this place!
Food is good, but if you are not into the artisan menu or artsy type of food, you won't enjoy it. I give the 7 course meal a 4/5. Service is top-notch and amazing. The atmosphere is great. Not many can have dinner while David Harbor and Hayden Christensen are also eating beside you. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will be back. Additional thank you to my server Denise.
The food was not very good, especially for the price. For sure worse than earls/cactus/keg. Service was good though and the view is nice.
Attended the holiday brunch for my birthday. I lined up to get food but was surprised to see that most items were not available. After 5 minutes of waiting, I just took some of the cold turkey and lukewarm stuffing & mashed potatoes. While eating my food, a new beef wellington came out and my wife was able to get the last piece (I had some of hers and it was good). So, while waiting for another beef wellington to be prepared, I ordered an eggs Benedict. 10 minutes after ordering, another beef wellington came out and I was able to get a piece. Unfortunately, the beef was raw and I didnt eat it. Another 15 minutes passed and still no eggs Benedict. I asked the server if it was still coming, she went to check, and said that it had been served to a different table. She apologized, ordered another one, and offered me a drink from the menu, which was a nice gesture. Not long afterwards, three orders of eggs Benedict came to the table, each a different flavor (I assume she forgot which type I had ordered). After a lot of waiting and mediocre food, we were ready to leave. My wife decided to use the bathroom before we left and noticed that a staff member (not a server) failed to wash her hands! Needless to say, we were very underwhelmed and wont be returning. The brunch at the Hyatt is far better and less than half the price!
Went last night for our anniversary dinner. Never have been before. Had reservations but were asked to wait a little near the bar. Ordered cocktails. They came when we got to our table. About 20mins after we ordered them. We were asked to move from this table to another because of a bigger party coming in. No worries, they said they would pay for our first round of drinks for this. We ordered our food. 30 mins go by, the waitress says the appetizer we wanted is no longer available. So we chose a different one. Another 30mins goes by. We had finished our cocktail. Had no water left. They left two empty wine glasses on our table (never cleared it at the start of service). Waitress comes and says sorry for the appetizer situation and gives us some sparkling rose as an apology. The table beside us starts talking to us about how they haven t received any food in over 30mins as they were doing the tasting menu. They started their tasting at 6pm and were still there at 9pm waiting for their last couple of courses. After waiting for over an hour, we decided we should just leave. But just then our appetizer came. It was over cooked and cold. Now we have finished the appetizer, still no water, finished the complimentary sparkling rose. Waited another 15min, nothing was cleared. We finally asked the waitress for the bill and to cancel our other dishes. Then the other two tables beside us asked for the same thing. We reminded our waitress that we checked our coats, she told us to wait at the front. We had to wait again, for about 10mins just for them to get our coats.
This is one of those places Im actually reluctant to review, lest the word get out too widely! Food, drinks, staff and overall atmosphere are exceptional, and there are really fun design touches that align with the theme of the host Dorian hotel, which is one of the most unique in the city. Dietary restrictions: My partner has peanut, tree nut and shellfish allergies. The Wilde staff were aware, knowledgeable and responsive to the requirements and provided a superb experience that both of us appreciated.
Excellent service, delicious food, and stunning views. Highly recommend visiting this wonderful spot!
I found the menu very boring. Overpriced and underwhelming. We only stayed for the desert and left to another restaurant. For that space and view? The menu should be remarkable.
Amazing view. Amazing service and amazing food. Thank you for a great anniversary dinner. The personized hand written note was very nice.
Incredible meal. Unparalleled presentation, unparalleled service unparalleled taste. Hats off to the chef and the staff. Well done!
Popped in for a late night cocktail fun menu had some chips & drip (the garlic aoli is awesome) the vibe is immaculate...perfect place for a cozy, sexy date night theres a roooftop patio enclosed by glass the view is great of downtown would 100% recommend staying at the Dorian and poppin into The Wilde
Overall, it was good we had the chef and wine tasting menu. Value was not there, well overpriced. Atmosphere was ok, extremely bright, not able to dim the lights, hard to enjoy the view when lights are reflecting of the windows. It was our 10 years, so we had high hopes. Im not sure if a return is in our future.
I honestly dont like to leave review for restaurants... but I had to do this because of the disappointment experienced. I took my wife out to celebrate her birthday just to give her a wonderful experience; hence we decided to try out the Wilde on 27 restaurant for the first time... but unfortunately we had the worse experience! 1. The restaurant is too pricey to begin with not worth the price...felt like a rip off! 2. We decided to go for the chef tasting style menu which was totally not worth it. 7 course meal that you had to wait a lengthy time each interval to get the next meal... and after the entire 7 course meal it felt we have not had anything to eat. 3. A mandatory 20% gratitude was enforced for 2 guest without giving the option to evaluate our tips based on our own gesture and level of appreciation...This I found very annoying and irritating. Overall, the experience was poor. The place was choked up very little space and the food and services was not worth the pricey bill.
The portions are soo small, meals tasteless, and lukewarm. Table Of 4 adults were all still hungry.
A friend of mine said she was underwhelmed by The Wilde, but I thought I would give it a chance in honour of my birthday incase my experience was different. I rarely write reviews, however, unfortunately, I have to agree that this place fell short in a few areas and wanted to express my disappointment given the cost. 1. Layout: A large section of the tables is far away from the windows, so if you are seated towards the back, you dont get much of a view (my partner got a view of a wall during our dinner, and arguably, the view is the main draw to this establishment). 2. Ambiance: The lighting was white light/super bright, which contributed to more of a hotel lobby vibe. 3. Starters to the Autumn Dinner series: The salad was almost laughably underwhelming. It was literally lettuce, a baby tomato cut in half and two thinly sliced cucumbers, topped with a dressing that my partner described as lemon water. The Milk Bread was also dry. 4. There was definitely a short hair (haircut shaving?) in my cocktail, and admittedly I didnt say anything because I felt bad that the restaurant experience was already off to a poor start and wanted so badly to like this place. I will say the meal redeemed itself at the main course (specifically, the beef striploin and Yorkshire pudding was excellent) and dessert (pumpkin cheesecake). And my cocktail (Western Sakura) was actually quite good. I would consider returning for a quick drink at the bar, but I would not highly recommend the experience as a whole.
The place is beautiful, the food is superb, and the service is very friendly.
We went there for Sunday supper. We had a very high expectation for this place but it fell short. I think for upscale or fine dining experience there are some universal culinary standards which we didnt see it there. The food was very simple for starter and the main. Some simple spring mix and large cut of lettuce and few diced cherry tomato and vinaigrette. The portion supposed to be for two but it was served in one plate which was enough only for one but for the price of two. One piece of bread cut to half for two and a butter. That was a starter which you can get in any simple and basic dinner everywhere in North America for under $10 for the same portion. No special design or a sauce or a different recipe. You can make it at home under 5 minutes with $5 worth of ingredients. This was not for sure a fine dining starter or even upscaled one. No sophistication and it looked sad. For the main, the beef portion was so small. Just two small cut of beef which almost 20 percent of the meet was fat. The rest was boiled or roasted vegetable on a shared plate for two. The quality was good but again no special design no secret recipe or ingredients plus the dish trying to fill you up with more vegetables and bread not proteins. Basically 80 percent of the dish was a vegetarian style dish. For this price point you can get a good steak in an upscaled restaurant. Desert also was lacking sophistication. It was something you can get it from any grocery store. Nothing special. But I should say that the quality of ingredients were good and meat prepared up to our liking. But we wont get back there. With this price point there are other choices in Calgary serving more sophisticated food with larger portion of proteins.
Amazing food and service! From the wine selection, to the main course and the dessert - each morsel was delectable! The host Arjan was awesome. Kudos to the chef!
OK...didnt eat here, full disclosure. BUT, sitting at the bar with Sergei and others was an amazing experience. So friendly and fun! Views were fantastic. Wish we had more time in Calgary to enjoy a dinner here...
This was an excellent experience. My wife and I have been in Calgary for 3-4 years and this was hands down our best chef s tasting experience in the city. Would highly recommend. The food was delicious, the service was splendid and the atmosphere (and views) were great. Will definitely be coming back.
Very neat place great views tasting menu was excellent as was the wine!
The food was good and the servers and staff were great. But a 40 minute wait for our meals was brutal
Food was delicious, service was great dessert was amazing. Our view was amazing on an outside patio 30 floors up highly recommend.
Had high expectations for this dinner. Sadly, they were not met. For a $1,000 meal, I did not expect burnt fish, inconsistently cooked meat, no tap water, inexperienced and forgetful service. We left disappointed. Still looking for that Michelin level restaurant in YYC... Right away the meal service began on a weak note. The sommelier, Jason, was conspicuously surly when he came to our table. Even my kids noticed it. After that I returned the surliness with single word replies and decided not to deal with him beyond that. I got the sense he didnt have a lot of experience at this level of dining - got more the Keg vibe / experience from him. Our server gave us wrong information from the beginning re POET happy hour drinks - hey, it happens. No biggie. Unfortunately, the cycle of errors and forgetfulness continued throughout the evening. At a lower price point, you would ignore this service. But the Wilde sells themselves as a higher end restaurant (and with prices to match). Thats fine. But they need to execute. They did not. Re the food - Inconsistent is the most apt description. The scallops course was too salty but the pork dish was bland and required more seasoning. The fish dish was burnt black - see the attached picture. The beef on 1 plate was cooked to a different level to the beef on another plate (this is the same course) - see the picture (I have placed the beef from the different plates side by side for comparison). How this food was allowed out of the kitchen shocked me. Jason and the server did not seem to care. Not even sure they understood the issues. The dessert course was plated a la 1980 - giant plate with a tiny dessert that seemed out of place. Where do get these chefs?? At the end of the meal, we had finished our bottled water and we did not want to get another bottle. We asked for tap water. Our server informed us the restaurant did not serve tap water due to the ongoing water restrictions. Huh? I get that some nicer restaurants may not want to serve tap water but dont blame it on the City. Cowardly and stupid. Heres an interesting point - they changed their tasting menu courses online but did not update their increased cost for that menu. Either dodgy practice or no attention to detail. Which is worse... I am in the process of writing to various culinary publications / platforms so they are aware of the poor experience I encountered at Wilde on 27. If Michelin ever comes to YYC, the Wilde on 27 should not even be considered for a Bib Gourmand let alone a coveted star. At least until they make some substantive changes both front of house and in the kitchen.
Took my partner here for her birthday as she loves this place. The food was great but our waiter was absolutely horrible. When I asked questions about the food menu, was very short and he never checked up or asked how our food was. Told us he forgot to place our order for drinks when we asked if they were coming and didnt even apologize. We had more interaction from the other employees than our own waiter. Needless to say a very disappointing dinner for a birthday. Your servers need to understand they can either make a great experience or ruin it regardless of the drink and food quality.
It s been a while since I ve been blown away by the food, service and atmosphere. The Wilde on 27 met all those expectations from the time we arrive until the time we left. First and foremost we loved our server (her name started with an X and I wish I had taken note of her name). Bread, appies, mains and desserts were all on point! The presentation was pure art on all levels. The mini in-between complimentary treats were better than the paid dishes. LOL The mini salad packed a punch in taste and delivery. My favorite main was the duck. I love that the ambience is casual yet on the verge of fine dining. Show up in a cocktail dress or dress down in nice jeans and sneakers. The only thing I d change is the volume of music as we sat directly beneath a blown speaker. The DJ was a nice touch and the music was great! The decor was extremely tasteful and the bathrooms were next level fancy! If you re wanting a high end dining experience for your next special occasion, The Wilde is the place to go!
Wow. Fantastic experience. Good is beautiful and delicious.
TLDR: extremely over priced for what you get. Probably the most disappointing buffet I have ever been to, on top of that, one of the most expensive. You have about 7 main dishes which were pretty boring. The oysters are good but not worth the price just go to any seafood restaurant you ll have equal or better oysters for way less than here. The prime rib was really good but again not worth the price. For 95/pp which they also add a mandatory 20% for service charge regardless of group size, you could have gone to a proper steakhouse and got better food for less. All the bread felt and tasted a few days old. The service was great and the environment (the buffet layout is odd) is nice but the mandatory service fee just feels like an excess to charge more without going into the 3 digit for their per person cost. Would not recommend this place at all for the price! Go to major tom during brunch and you can order one of everything for less then 95 for what you get this should be a 30-40 pp buffet. This was highly disappointing to represent this as Calgarys premium buffet, it s only premium in cost nothing else. I would compare this buffet to an airport lounge, about the same number of options and quality is the same, but at the airport it s only 40/pp and you stay for 3hrs with unlimited drinks
Had an amazing time
Tried the Wilde on 27 during the YYC EXP(back in March) special with my wife. We reserved our table ahead and we were able to get a table next to the window. The special was a set menu with appetizers, entree and dessert. I remember there are 2-3 choices you can choose from. It was a great experience and we will definitely go back again.
My family and I went to celebrate Mother s Day to the wild on 27. I saw a lot of Instagram posts about this place so we were excited to try it. However, we were very disappointed of the menu s variety. For the price charged we were expecting more choices. We have been going to the fairmont in Banff for brunch always and is not even close to this one even on a regular Sunday. Sorry but not good
Absolutely great dining experience! Celebrated one of my birthday dinners here and we had a wonderful time. Kudos to Denise for such a great service!
Finally tried this brunch and it was on Easter Sunday so it was 125 each instead of 95. The only difference for the Easter brunch was the beef Wellington instead of beef brisket. We told them it was our anniversary so as soon as we walked in, numerous of the staff wished us a happy anniversary.at our table was a hand written card signed by all the staff wishing us a happy anniversary. Amazing, absolutely loved that! Now the food. I wasnt blown away by it. It was all delicious of course but for 125 I was hoping to be wowed. Im also allergic to seafood, so I could only eat the other stations. I knew that going in, but was just hoping thered be more options. So basically I ate a quiche, a Benny and a slice of beef Wellington and a couple little desserts for 125 lol not worth it for me. My partner though ate so much seafood, so it was good for him. We also asked for our complimentary mimosas and was told that they dont do that anymore. But it still says they do on their website. We lucked out and they gave it to us anyway, so thank you! I ordered a juice and was charged 4 bucks for that lol but coffee was included thank goodness. Oh yes and we got the risotto but it was small and I had a few bites. There was a table of meats and cheese but again, limited variety. There was a lentil stew and mashed potatoes but to me thats not brunch food. All in all it was a wonderful experience, we sat on the outdoor patio, staff was amazing and the ambiance is to die for. But I probably wont be back for that price point. Ill go back so I can try the dinner though. Thanks to the staff for making our anniversary memorable!!!
Went here during the YYC EXP Food & Drink Experience and I was not disappointed. Normally downtown hotels, parking is a bit difficult but they have a big parking lot next door. The hotel lobby was gorgeous, went to the 27th floor to get to the restaurant. The views, though it was snowing were amazing. The staff and service was top-notch, and our food was delicious. They treated every guest like a VIP, we got up to go, looking for someone to get our coats and we turned around to the gentlemen who was ready with them.
The restaurant is really well decorated, provides an upscale atmosphere. The service was good, food took a while to get out of the kitchen. The food itself was presented nicely, but was just sub par, Earls has better food. For the price it s just not worth it.
I ve never left a google review before but this was genuinely so bad I feel like I have to leave one I ve never had food poisoning before and this place gave me food poisoning. I genuinely feel like death after eating the uncooked meals here, would not be surprised if their sauces were made out of piss and vomit. Service was amazing, we had a big table and the servers were extremely polite, helpful and patient so I m grateful for that, but the food was truly god awful it was severely undercooked, in what world should the pasta part of a raviolo be crunchy, and the rice from the risotto was the only edible part and even that was still undercooked and crunchy. You d think that they took their time crafting the food because of how long we had to wait, but nope it was horrendous. Severely overpriced aswell. Big thank you to the servers, but would definitely never come here again. Save urself the pain don t come here Edit: I called and tried to get in touch to speak with the representative and got no answer. Thank you wilde fr
If youre looking for an inexpensive café, this is not such a place. Its a restaurant attached to a hotel that also serves coffee and cakes. Its surprisingly noisy and sound echos off the tile floor. If you want to have a quiet conversation and are a bit hard of hearing, this would not be a good choice for you. this place is easily wheelchair accessible through the front door of the hotel. Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible for power wheelchairs through front door of Hotel period.
Overall Brunch experience was not really good for the price we had to pay for. The eggs Benny and Risotto were pretty good but the second round wasnt as good as whomever cooked it added to much salt so sadly it ruin the flavor for me. Other than that there wasnt much memorable dishes. Would love to come back another time to test our their dinner menu.
My husband surprised me with a date night to try out the Chef s Tasting Menu. Absolutely superb food, lovely wait staff, and a beautiful view to top it all off. A wonderful culinary experience all around - *chef s kiss*!
Their cuisine is unparalleled, offering a delightful fusion of flavors and textures that tantalize the taste buds. The service is equally impressive, providing a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. For those seeking a refined yet inviting atmosphere paired with exceptional food and service, Wilde is a standout choice in Calgarys culinary landscape.
One of the best views and the menus in town !!!
My husband, friends and I went to this restaurant to try out their tasting menu. I am so relieved we have found a tasting menu that was absolutely fantastic!! We used to frequent QHaute until it shut down and have tried multiple places since. But nowhere quite compared to the art, taste and beauty that QHaute brought to the table. I think we may have found our replacement! All the food was incredible, tasted amazing, and was art on a plate. We will go again and give it a second try, but I don t think we will be disappointed! Thanks for bringing some culture, beauty, and amazing tastes and fragrances back to food!
Me and my boyfriend decided to try their Sunday Brunch as Ive seen a video on Instagram about it and it seemed very promising. I was feeling under the weather at this time and we were seated out on their patio because they think the weather has warmed up, the heater above our table helped a little but with the strong wind towards the end of our brunch made it a little uncomfortable to eat outside. They handed out a card with everyones signature on it at the start and gave us a little pastry at the end for our anniversary which we appreciate. Our server is very attentive to our drinks and plates that can be taken away. Eggs benny and the risotto is made to order to your table and the rest of their food is for you to grab. I gave it 3 stars as I wasnt very pleased with the selection of food that was offered. Few kinds of croissants, a little bit of seafood, cheeses, a smores bar which I wasnt interested in, meat bar and few types of desserts. The brunch is $95 per person and for food that are bite sized, I dont think it was worth the money we paid for. Maybe well give it a try again and update this review.
The worst dining and service I have ever had. Had a birthday party asked them to split the bill between the guests, lied and said they would but rather put the entire bill on one with a 20% gratuity. The ravioli is disgusting and the manager, Brye needs better management skill. Better places to wine and dine.
Worth at least one Michelin star when they finally grade Calgary. Chef Kyle and his team are top notch and this is the premier fine dining in Calgary right now. Have been to four 3* restaurants before and the chef s tasting menu here is 95% of what those are. Worth the visit. I ve only been twice and will visit more
Absolutely fantastic brunch. Great value for money. Awesome food and service - especially if you are lucky and have Jen as your server. We had such a good time.
Such a lovely place to have brunch! Not a large dining room so it doesnt feel overwhelming, but very cozy! The food on the buffet was great, and the staff were all very friendly and provide quick service!
By fat the best restaurant Ive been to in Calgary! The food was excellent and the service was amazing. We had the bison and trout as the main course. The cocktails were very tasty. Highly recommend!
Service was impeccable and the food was amazing!! The brunch selection was nice and varied. The menu seems to change according to seasons but if you get the chance, try the truffle eggs benny, the smoked brisket and shrimp ceviche. It s the best thing you ll have in your life. No joke! They made my partners very belated birthday super special. Thank you so much guys
Was greeted at the Entrance to the Dorian hotel by a charming and enthusiastic fellow at the Desk called Christopher. Dear managers of Christopher: Please give this man a raise. He is a gem of a human being, and you couldnt find anyone better to be the face of your business. On to the Wilde: - Having read the Portait of Dorian Gray, I was over the moon upon learning of an Oscar Wilde themed restaurant. - The food was a sold 11/10. Can I give a 12? Clever Kaleidescopes of flavors, simply amazing. They also were amenable to making a few of their extravagant cocktails into mocktails, and the results were STILL AMAZING. But, the service was weird. Busy and fawning. Before the elevator could open, we were being greeted and peppered with questions, rushed to my table. No time to breathe and take stock of my surroundings. It was a bit high-cadence for me. For the first half hour of being seated, there was a constant barrage of staff coming and dropping things off, picking things up, adjusting things on the table, asking our opinions. Every time my GF and I tried to chat, we were interrupted by another staff member doing....something. It was a lot of attention, but a bit overwhelming, and not really pleasant. Perhaps this attentiveness is what a certain style of customer is looking for? My previous fine-dining experiences (Many) were characterized by a low-cadence and intuitive respect for space, which was altogether lacking here. I wanted to look around the lovely restaurant, but was actually afraid to, lest someone interpret that as a need and come rushing over. But, the staff members themselves were lovely - Im sure this busyness is the result of something theyve been directed to do - and possibly the result of the way management has structured/distributed tasks. Its also possible that such fawning is what younger fine-dining customers expect, and Ive missed the point. The cadence seemed to drop off once we received our mains, and we were able to start enjoying the experience. I dont know that Id return. The food was simply excellent, but the busyness made the experience unrelaxing.
I rarely send food back. Maybe once every ten years. But when I pay this much for food I do expect it cooked properly. Ravioli was so undercooked, not al dente, badly undercooked. I have my red seal so dont blow this off as someone who doesnt know. No Bear in this kitchen. If youre going to charge five star prices, put out five star food.
Came here for their special tasting menu on Feb 14th. Very attentive service, tasteful MCM-inspired decor and nice views. Some of the initial courses were hit (macaron - balanced sweetness) or miss (bread and honey butter - not enough flavor or richness in the bread or butter). All of the mains really knocked it out of the park though. Favorites include the scallop (perfectly cooked), the venison (usually a difficult low-fat protein, but the chef more than compensated with the au jus and potato soufflé), the sablefish (deliciously tender), and the caviar. Drinks were pricey - especially compared to other cocktail lounges where you can find tastier options and better value. Comparison to Major Tom: Though both are located high up in city towers and offer a special atmosphere, The Wilde has more of a focus on food and service, while Major Tom has more of a lounge experience, which you can tell with the quality and value of drinks. Overall we would like to come back again - especially to try the brunch menu. As for drinks, we would love to see some happy hour pricing to give it another shot.
My husband and I went to The Wilde for our anniversary and it was the most amazing experience! We did the chefs tasting menu and couldn t believe how unreal everything was. Even the personal touch they left on the table for our anniversary. I can t say enough good things about this place including the view.
Beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, just found the food didnt wow. Definitely nothing wrong with it, but nothing memorable or crave-worthy from what we tried.
I ve been to The Wilde a couple times. Each time the experience, food and service was amazing. The dishes we had, such as the elk and scallops were perfectly cooked and had fantastic flavour. We also had the opportunity to meet Chef Kyle! They have done a great job with this place, I would highly recommend.
I had a night of layover in Calgary and just decided to have dinner in downtown area. I didn t do any research, kinda just google for dinner as the plane landed. Found this restaurant and thought that the menu was interesting, so I decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, I was seated immediately. The server came by and introduced her name and mentioned about the availability of oysters. I ordered the oysters and saw the tasting menu which I asked about; I learned that the tasting menu was by reservation only, but she offered to ask the chef to see if the kitchen can make that happen since I am just one person. She came back and said there was no problem, so I went with the tasting menu. As each dish is being served, the server would describe and explain what each dish is forgive me that my memory could not remember what the ingredients each dish they described. Each dish has a very unique flavor; the scallop and fish were cooked perfectly, the bison was super tender Think it was about the third dish, the chef personally ran the food to my table and introduced himself. All the food tastes very wonderful with appealing presentation. For service, aside from having the knowledge about each dish, they take care of the table to another level. For example, after about every 2 dishes, my fork and knife would be replaced with table wiping all clean before continuing food serving. They would continue to check on me about the pace of food serving, and how each dish tastes. As I took a sip of the water below half of the glass, they would come forward and refill my water. At the end of the meal, the manager on duty came up and introduced himself; and we chatted for a bit. Just as what I told him and I am going to restate it here as well: Amazing food and outstanding service!!
I wish I could leave a zero star review. The 2024 New Year party at this place was a joke. They charged $75 per person: no table to seat, party was boring, no view of the fireworks, and they offered us tater tot poutine for food. What a disappointment!
Had an amazing experience at the Wilde for my boyfriend s birthday! We had the chef s tasting menu and the food and service was top notch! Every dish was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. We did not leave hungry and took our final dessert course to go. I would highly recommend this for a special occasion. The atmosphere and decor in the restaurant was super trendy. From the moment we entered to when we left the staff were so friendly and they even had a birthday card on the table for my boyfriend signed by all the staff. Thank you so much for the hospitality!!!
I agreed with Ana s review. The NYE party was a messy and disorganized. We went there around 22:30 and one of server mention the dinning area will change to a dance floor shortly which didn t happened. Around 23:30 I asked one of the server what s the plan for the seating. He said those who had the seat wouldnt leave because they paid over 200 dollars for dinner here. (He can answered better than that, but yah, understandable lol. ) Then the funny part is you can t see the firework from the balcony and balcony has no seat, no table, nothing. Everyone just stood there waiting for a non-firework countdown which was embarrassing. Also only 2 bartenders working and apparently they can t afford the high volume of drink request. And another one only takes bills. Oh forgot to mention you paid around 80 dollars per person just for the entry fee and free popcorn, 3 choices of desserts, and one sparkling wine. It could been better. Advice: take dinner reservation only till 20:00 and inform every dinner customer floor will be change to dance floor at 22:00. Put more chairs and high table at the bar and balcony so customer can have more room to sit. Design NYE special cocktail menu with 3-5 options so bartender can t get overwhelmed and more efficient. Schedule more staffs to work or at least make sure every staff know their roles. Hope you guys succeed next year
Calgary perfect bunch every other Sunday. Reservation a must Price includes mimosa, fresh oysters, Wagyu smoked beef, crab bennadit, etc. After bunch had latte at Prologue & enjoy live piano before 4. Then complete your day shopping at Holt Renfrew & CORE and a light dinner at your cozy home. Food
A wonderful buffet brunch location. Lots of fantastic choices to suit every desire, and a good amount of variety for the amount you pay. A custom risotto, mimosas and tea are included in the price. Service was excellent, and the view is wonderful from the 27th floor. Very instagramable! Parking: There is a very large paid Impark lot immediately next to the Wilde, and there s a good amount of street parking on the blocks surrounding it.
Went here to celebrate my anniversary with my partner. We did the chefs tasting menu and it was such a great experience from start to finish. We loved everything we tried and felt that it was definitely worth it. Loved the wine selection and cocktail list. We tried both. The venue and the view is also beautiful! I will be recommending it to friends and family. Thanks for a good night out!!
Best Brunch in town! Phenomenal selection, the flavors are superb and the service is top notch. I cannot wait to come back and experience the dinner service. 10s, 10s, 10s across the board!!
It was a very satisfying experience there!
Had an amazing experience here, the week the Leafs were in town. Started with a most excellent old fashioned at the bar as I arrived early. The two guys at the bar set the evening for me with solid recommendations for drinks, wine and my meal. My guests arrived later and we all enjoyed the incredible service, beautiful decor and fantastic food!
Great location and view . I was not impressed with how unorganized the front end was . Servers seemed very confused . Table was not being cleared .. The food was very good, but not amazing . I was expecting much better service for such a high end restaurant... Probably my biggest disappointment. They have a very disorganized front of the house .
Fun book of cocktails and gorgeous views of the city!
We had the best experience at the Wilde, the staff was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the cocktails were amazing. I can t wait to go back!
We just finished New Years dinner here and it was not worth the money ($150.00 per person for the NYE experience ). The food was underwhelming and they had a buffet style for the dinner which was not what we were expecting. I was looking forward to a much higher gourmet standard from this restaurant and was very unimpressed. The view is gorgeous but beyond that, nothing else was up to par. More attention needs to be paid to flavour and not presentation. Very disappointing.
Staff is super friendly. They have been trained to sell you on way over priced drinks and food. In my opinion, food is way over priced for the quality. We ordered the salad, pasta, and scallops to share first. You could not tell difference between the two scallops and veggie root. The pasta, not warm and mediocre. My bison meal was not warm either. After being sold it was best on menu. I will not return.
I loved the ambiance and the service was excellent but the duck breast was so tough it was inedible and there was nothing else on the plate. I was offered a free dessert to compensate for the $55 duck . Very disappointing and we won t return.
We were excited to try this restaurant. The drinks were good. The atmosphere and interior decor was weird and dated even though it just opened. Most importantly, food was honestly the worst I ve ever had as far as fine dining goes. Every single dish we ordered was bland, dry, overcooked, and flavourless. Some of the dishes were cold when they arrived. It was shocking. The only mediocre thing was the steak, which was the only decent thing on the plate. Everything it came with was disgusting. The food also took forever to get, which was surprising because the restaurant was dead, there were maybe only 4 other tables of people. We waited almost an hour and a half for our entrees. I love eating out, I am a total foodie and I think the Calgary restaurant scene has some amazing places to go. I would not waste my time coming back here, and I would urge anyone else against trying it. One of my worst dining experiences.
It was supposed to be a memorable dinner in order to celebrate two persons birthdays. However, it didnt meet my expectation. First of all, Ive mentioned the restaurant this is a birthday dinner for two people. Within my beverage experience, whoever confirmed the appointment, was supposed to inform the chef. Although the chef might forget, the servers or supervisor should remind them while doing the reservation check-in. It turns out, there werent any simple birthday signs performed at our dinner. We were expecting at least the dessert could put a chocolate Happy birthday label. Secondly, we booked a chefs table in order to experience the dinner special. As a professional sever, they were supposed to tell us what the menu would be, as well as double confirm we are allergic or not regard to any single dishes. We wouldnt eat the 100% rare meat twice if we have been informed early. Its a little bit of nausea, no offence. Third, one of the most meaningful reasons, I choose to have a birthday dinner here because the night view and the environment attracted me. As I mentioned before, we didnt receive any birthday sign plus we were not allowed to have our birthday mini cake that we prepared ourselves. If yes, that would be an extra serving charge. Therefore, we decided to store in the kitchen fridge and take it back until we finished dinner. When we were leaving, they even forgot to bring it back to us. In conclusion, we didnt feel welcome and careful enough by both the serving and kitchen team. There is still a lot to be improved.
The cocktails were fantastic. The on tap ginger beer was awesome. The views were spectacular.... But somehow this feels a bit put on. The service was so/so, and it was quite expensive. Id expect top notch service when Im shelling out $20 a drink.
Rather awkward to get to as you have to enter through a hotel and go to the 27th floor, but provides for a great view once youre up there. The liver mousse and elk tartare were a little underwhelming, largely just because we expected more flavour out of them. Certainly not bad, but I had higher expectations. The scallop was the star appetizer, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The bison shortrib was definitely tasty, but felt very heavy in the stomach. Id order again, but would have to sure I starved myself beforehand and wasnt doing anything for a long time afterwards. The beef tenderloin was good, nothing special though. Personally, none of the desserts spoke to me, but the Modern and Textures of Chocolate were quite good. The true star of the night, however, was the staff. Friendly, knowledgeable, and fantastic at their jobs. They certainly made the night better.
The best restaurant service in town!! We enjoyed every moment. We got chefs complimentary Beef Tartar, Lemon Sherbet, Dark chocolate raspberry ball. The main dishes were awesome too. Kid-friendliness: My son asked for bread refill and the servers came by 4 times to refill for him. There was no icecream and my son asked for ice cream for dessert, and they brought sherbet from downstaires freezer just for him. We really appreciated the above and beyond service.
The experience was worth it. Marvin was such an amazing server, one of the best servers I had here in Calgary. The food was amazing. Definitely recommend going here if you are in Calgary.
Just don t order the fish. Otherwise it was great
The experience was top notch and the food was excellent. Definitely some of the best service in the city. Hope to be back soon!
One star for the view, one star for the music. But I just cant recommend this place for the food, the risotto had a very chemical taste to it and we had to return it to the kitchen uneaten, and the time it takes to get your meal is far too long.
Came for the food stayed for the vibe. Food quality is delectable best in the Calgary restaurateur scene. You can tell they source top grade ingredients, seafood was great, the revolving charcuterie was a sight to behold and of course tasted Heavenly. The Boulangerie needs a review of its own the croissants were the best Ive had in Calgary. Our waitress was such a delight, she went above and beyond to provide a wholesome service, and her effort didnt go unnoticed. The team overall made our dining so pleasant always checking in to ensure we were having a great time, volunteering to capture and immortalized our stay. The highlight of the brunch was the DJ with a fantaboulous selection of music, her transition from different genres of music was so skilled and kept the atmosphere euphoric Overall experience was superceded in expectations. Will do this again
The food, decour, presentation and service were great. We really enjoyed dining here and the staff and chef were super friendly and nice. The desert was a bit disappointing, maybe we were expecting more. Overall I would Definitely go back as they do change their menu every 6 weeks! The steak is delicious.
Food was good, but I wont go back there especially for special occasions. I was desapointed of the unprofessional service.
Had high hopes and was looking forward to writing a 5 star review.. Our group of 4 went for a celebration Bottomless Brunch and unfortunately we were left feeling somewhat unsatisfied. For the price of $100/person (before drinks) for brunch, we had much higher expectations with the food and service. Note, one mimosa included in the cost of the brunch and you have a time limit of 1 hour and 40 minutes in the bottomless experience, regardless if you are ordering more. In addition to this, we found ourselves clearing our own small plates (limited table space) for the buffet and waiting on coffee, juice, and drink refills throughout the meal. If you do order alcolholic drinks, be sure to confirm what you are paying for - we ordered 4 espresso martinis, knowing this was an additional cost for a premium cocktail, but we did not expect these to be $36 each - they reduced the price of these after the fact (to $18 each) stating the wrong alcohol was entered but it was unfortunate to go through. The area is also very crammed for a buffet style, people getting up and and down felt a bit chaotic at times - unless you are sitting in the sun room, where there was much more space and service appeared to be better as well. The cheese cart service at each table was nice but it barely fit in between the tables bumping into the backs of chairs. Most of the food was very tasty and the presentation was excellent, but one of our dishes did not come out and we never had a check in by one of the varying servers to confirm. The lobster hash was delicious and the carvery station was fantastic, most of the seafood was very good. We had hoped to order one more short plate but didnt get the chance. The servers were all very friendly but often seemed lost in the midst of the service. To provide a truly upscale experience, the service and interaction needs to improve drastically, the food could be elevated and there should be far more transparency on what to expect. Based on this experience, it was a good brunch for a very premium price.. sadly would not return, nor would I recommend.. I make an effort to try nearly all new restaurants or experiences in the city, but this did not meet the mark for what we had anticipate and the price we paid. There is potential for this Bottomless Brunch but not there yet. Total bill for two people with tip ~$320.
Wow... And not in a good way. After much research, I thought Id try Wilde and splurge for their unique Chef experience for my wifes birthday. Sadly, this was easily the worst dining experience Ive had in Calgary and probably anywhere. After asking for a nice window table to celebrate my wifes bday, received response It will be organized and thought great, didnt think twice as I had to prepay $250 and erroneously assumed this would at least secure a decent table. Upon exiting the elevator, we stood in front of the bar area for at least 5 minutes without any acknowledgement or welcome by the bartender and 3 servers huddled at the bar in front of us within 5 feet. Seriously, like we were invisible. This basically set the tone for the evening. Brushed of this slight to carry on to our table, only to be escorted to literally the least romantic table at the back of the restaurant. I had hyped up this experience so Ive now got my tail between my legs and feeling pretty sheepish. First round of cocktails were meh so we moved to grey goose martinis. Little did I know they were $30 a piece. If Im being charged NY prices, I expect a killer Martini. What we received would have been expected from a local sports pub. Just look at the pic of the olives they included without asking for... As for the food, honestly it is not good enough to justify cost let alone make up for the front of house. Their timing needs work, they were clearing dishes while serving next course. Couldnt even set up for a pic if we wanted to! Table beside us was being used to hold cutlery and plates. We felt like we were beside a staff table. Servers were polite and worked as team but just lacked the polish and experience expected of a high end restaurant. For example, typically when a client is navigating to bathroom, staff provide right of way. We found we had to accommodate them and not the other way around. We could have enjoyed our night at virtually any other popular spot for half the cost and zero disappointment.
By far the best dining experience we ve had in Calgary in a very long time. The service and staff were fantastic, and the food was excellent! There was not a single dish we did not thoroughly enjoy. Keep up the great work! We will be back.
View is very nice especially at night but food and drinks overpriced/small portions/watered down. There are other places that charge the same but the quality is at that level.
$95/person brunch, overall very disappointed. Lobsters were definitely not fresh, comes with a frozen taste to them. The only fresh seafood seemed to be the oysters, and they were impossible to get, they bring up like 15 oysters each time and 4 or 5 people in front of us were taking all of those, and you ll have to wait for another 15 minutes, after few rounds I was being told they ran out. No one expected those to be that limited Bennys were just not special, any other brunch place can make similar things just without some Caviar on top. At the end of the day I wouldn t recommend to go try this brunch.
Terrible experience, lobster hash too salty and I have too drink a glass of water after eating. The Tomahawk steak not authentic, the middle is red and I felt like eating a raw meat. The most unpleasant part is that they don t have enough oysters for their customers,I only had one oyster the whole time. And I asked for more when I finished that one , i was told there s no more oysters left in their kitchen. HOW IS THIS BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH? They even run out of mussels.
I had brunch there yesterday , the food was amazing and the service incredible too!! I ll definitely be back soon! Highly recommend
Food was quite good, as well were the drinks. The service was comically bad. Our group waited for over 2 hours for our entrees to come out. And if youre going to charge me $26 per espresso martini, I should not have to pull my calculator out at the end of the night and split the bill up. They have the ability to do individual bills, but they are just lazy. Good food, terrible service, worse management. 3.5/10 Would not recommend.
The space is beautiful and is a standout in the Calgary food scene. Francisco and his serving partner provided exceptional service to our group and made sure we were well taken care of! The food was fantastic and we especially loved the lemon desert! I am already looking forward to our next visit.
I came here for my birthday dinner and boy was I glad I did! It was 100% worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, so many new twists on flavours that worked perfectly. The servers and kitchen staff were so accommodating of dietary needs hassle free. I forgot the name of the pasta in the photo below but it doesn t need words anyways because of how darn amazing it was. The Wilde deserves all the hype! A local gem.
Amazing views of downtown, also amazing service. The cocktails were incredible and the food was delicious.
Going in with an open mind I thought that this would be an amazing fine dining experience. At first the service was really good with multiple people checking in. But it took over 10 minutes to get the first drink. We did the chefs table so it was a 7 course meal. The first dish was probably the best with oyster, mushroom pastry and a toast of sorts. The chef came out and explained every detail of the dish which was expected for a fine dining experience and it was much appreciated. After that, the service and experience diminished. There were different people bringing each course and briefly explaining it which took away from the chefs design of each dish. The worst dish was the elk tar tar which was lacking in flavor and was basically raw meat with minimal toppings, so it tasted like straight up mashed raw meat that was not appetizing. It took over 3 hours to finish all the courses. The services was not engaging for the price of the whole meal. I would not have been so upset with the fact that the bill was OVER $400 for TWO people. With only 3 drinks per person. I cannot understand how the cheapest pint of beer is $15. For that price I would expect everything to be flawless. Yes the views are nice but that is only one aspect. If this is looking to compete with other fine dining restaurants in Calgary then it needs to step up. My girlfriend booked this with a detailed note saying that it was for my birthday and not once did anyone mention or say happy birthday. She booked this and the price said $120 per person for the 7 course meal and when we got the bill it showed $150... So all of what she said not only got unoticed but the original booking price was missed. Unfortunately these are the reasons for such a low rating. With such a high price point and low performance I cannot give anything higher. It is a new place but there had been many similar reviews months prior to my experience and it still seems that these issues exist.
Great food. Great people.
Sunday brunch experience really good. Worth the money if you count on price a dishes. Friendly servers! Especially Denise giving us idea to try the kitchen order egg Benny and lobster hash.
Great experience
Amazing dinner my gf and I had for our anniversary. Service was impeccable and the food was amazing! You get so much free stuff during the service and not just what you order. On top of that, the staff were super friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend going here for dinner!
Food and Service was awesome!!
Ambiance was on point. Food was great. Our server, Denise, made our dinner here expectacular. She definitely went above and beyond to make our night extra special.
Went there to celebrate my girlfriend s 25th birthday. The view was fantastic and food was great. But what highlighted our experience was the service. Shoutout to Denise for the exceptional service that made it so special for my girlfriend. The patio was not open at that moment but She made an exemption so we could enjoy the view better while having our dessert. Would totally come back and recommend this place to anyone.
We came for the Sunday brunch that is priced at $95/pp. Now don t get me wrong, the food was good but the selection is limited. I was extremely excited for the tomahawk steak that is advertised on the menu. And also extremely disappointed when I found out it was just a poorly oven roasted prime rib with no crust or sear. After making a comment to the chef at the seafood station, he just acknowledged and laughed but did not respond. All in all, it could have been a better experience with an honest menu. The idea is there, but the functionality is quite poor.
How can a place be open and not take cash. Poor choice. I would recommend not coming to this place. Cash is first . Really what type of agenda is is place following.
Went for the buffet brunch. It was amazing.
We went for the brunch that happens once a month. I had originally contacted the restaurant worried about the oysters running out. The food quality was incredible for the amount of unlimited dishes you can get! I love how they took previous reviews and fixed the known issues (2 oysters at a time per person, people spread out so that it is a comfortable atmosphere, attentive service). The complimentary mimosa was strong! Only disappointment was that there was no caviar at all on the menu like it was stated on the brunch menu.
Considering it is a 100dollar brunch, we had a very poor experience. We went on April 30, and nothing looked like the food pictures posted by other reviewers. And while you had to set up alarms and book 3-4 weeks in advance in order to get a reservation, we still waited 20min before seated. Seafood were not fresh and fruits were left out too long and all dried, and very limited selections.
Marvin was excellent, the food was fantastic, the location and views are amazing
An excellent experience !!! Just incredible service. Food was delightful! The Elk tartare starter and the bison Wellington was absolutely unreal. A perfect night. Thank you for spoiling us on my husband s birthday and our pregnancy announcement.
Ruined birthday at the Wilde restaurant My family and I came to celebrate my birthday at this restaurant. After an hour had already passed after ordering the dishes, we wondered if they had forgotten about us? To which they answered us in 10-15 minutes After another hour of waiting, they decided to tell us that the concept of their restaurant is designed for a 3-hour dinner Despite the fact that when ordering dinner, we immediately asked how long to wait (since we had a small child with us and she wouldn t wait 3 hours at the table), the answer was: about 30 minutes, I ll check with the cook After 2 and a half hours of waiting, we left without eating and didn t even hear the words: sorry I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!
Ive heard theres a brunch here, but it is not posted on the website and not even the front desk hotel staff know when it is. They suggested that I follow the restaurants instagram account to find out when it is and what time I can book - no thanks. I want to support this business but you are making it v. difficult.
Just had the most amazing lunch experience at The Wilde Rooftop! The new Wilde Lunch menu is seriously impressive - the locally sourced ingredients and expertly crafted dishes were truly a treat for the senses. If youre looking for an elegant and memorable culinary adventure, I highly recommend you check out The Wilde Rooftop! Follow me on Instagram @WanderingInYYC for all things Calgary!
I loved my time here! Had just a spectacular meal with views galore. The atmosphere is great, the staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the food was really top notch. Josh the executive chef has curated a really great menu, and he s a lovely guy too. I will definitely stop by whenever I m in Calgary and would highly recommend it for a very nice dinner downtown. The lamb was totally excellent.
Went with a gf to celebrate a big event. Shared some wine. They had very soft blankets and a nice rooftop patio. Was a very awesome evening, would go again.
Marvin was our phenomenal server. Everything about our experience was second to none. Food was wonderful, pacing was excellent, and the atmosphere is great. We really enjoyed the noise level too particularly. The live DJ was great and the music level was still kept to a reasonable level which allowed us to still enjoy conversation without it being too loud. The team here has cracked the formula! Keep it up.
Incredible dining experience! We chose the 7 course menu and a wine pairing. Some very unique dishes including a fois Gras topped cinnamon bun and a delicious take on bison tartare. Wine pairings were on point, and the servers were very personable, professional and friendly. We look forward to our next visit!
Overall good lunch experience at The Wilde. Would come back here again. Decor, views, and ambience are fantastic. Our server Sally was so nice and made it an enjoyable dining experience. Food was good, but could be improved. The standout dishes: the bison tartare, halibut, and lobster pasta. Unfortunately, the clams (that came highly recommended) werent cleaned properly; more than 3-4 had so much sand inside and I even bit into a small purple pearl. The wagyu sandwich ($36) was VERY salty and dry; and the menu makes it easy to miss that its actually just a dry sandwich.
Great experience!
Good food, bad value Beef meal below was great, although I left hungry. Just poor value considering the price. Beer menu is also very limited. Probably wouldn t eat here again. Food : 5/5
we had the pleasure of dining here over the weekend for a friends birthday. the food was wonderful, full of flavor and presented beautifully. was a bit costly and the portions are a little small, but thats what happens with fine dinning right. service was top notch. will be saving up so go back for a date night.
This was my 2nd time at the Wilde and it was once again exceptional. The service is first-class, the food is delicious, artistic, and plentiful, and the room and ambience are both so classy. Highly recommend!
This evening we went for my birthday dinner and were introduced to the most bland, disappointing and expensive food we have ever had. The drinks were phenomenal and thats where it ended. Our $27 appetizer consisted of 6 pieces of unseasoned asparagus with a grey, dull, and tasteless hollandaise that was cold. The most upsetting part of the experience was the $57 halibut which was dry as a bone (it went down like sandpaper), accompanied by 7 pieces of over cooked gnocchi covered by a stretchy fruit leather with a tablespoon of sauce; when we informed the server (Cloyd) of our poor dishes he gave an empty apology and didnt offer any recovery. We couldnt be bothered to try our luck on dessert. Simple to say this will be out last time spending a gross $250 on horrible food, and will not be recommending this place to anyone.
Such a pleasant experience. The ambience is really lovely, it wasnt too crowded, and is whimsically furnished. Our drinks were beautifully crafted, tasted delicious and were reasonably priced. Highly recommend trying the Asparagus and Pheasant!
Tried the chefs tasting menu and every single dish was fantastic - Chef Kyle is very talented and knows his flavours extremely well. The service was also top notch, and the views from the 27th floor brought it all together for a very memorable evening. Cant wait to come back!
The Wilde is 0 for 2 for me. The first time I came was a year ago when the restaurant was fairly new, so a lot of the issues I chalked up to ironing out the kinks, both in service and food. I was with a friend who had a number of specific dietary needs, including a gluten allergy, and she had specifically called ahead and spoken with the restaurant team to request a particular meal of fish with grilled vegetables or a salad to accommodate her needs. When I booked I also noted that one person had a gluten allergy, but that did not stop the service team from a) forgetting about her specific meal request and b) repeatedly bringing foods with gluten to our table, despite repeatedly reminding the server of the gluten allergy. Service was really slow with approximately 30-40 min gaps between when the server would come to our table. When we tried to reiterate the specific meal request, we were told they didnt have salad or grilled vegetables, and we had to work hard to get them to arrange some kind of alternative. When the food did finally arrive, it was ok, but the flavours were not quite right. Then, when the server brought us a dessert menu, I again had to reiterate whether there was anything gluten-free, to which he said no. On the second visit more recently, the service had greatly improved, but the food was still such a letdown. My halibut was majorly overcooked, cold, and unseasoned. Several others at our table likewise mentioned their food being cold and unseasoned. It seemed like a lot of time was wasted waiting for everyones dishes to come out, and then being made to wait while the server went and fully explained each dish to each person and poured their sauce over the plate (you could just sauce ahead to not waste peoples time). It seems in many ways that the stringent focus on service is coming at the cost of the food. Overall the Wilde is trying way too hard to be the closest thing in Calgary to Michelin Star, while missing the mark at every turn.
Planning to go to this restaurant for a while & we were all very pleasantly impressed. Our server and other servers were attentive/informed & just excellent in their attention to detail. The food experience was amazing- everything was delicious, perfectly executed & the surprise of : amuse bouche, freshly baked bread & flavoured butter, palette cleanser & the bonbons at the end = we all agree we would come back here! Would love to do the chef experience & the brunch- I ve heard nothing but raves about the brunch.
This venue is incredible! The food, ambiance, cocktails, and service are all first class. If you wish to have a once in a lifetime experience, this is the place to go.
Best brunch in Calgary at The Wilde My friends and I had brunch at The Wilde, and it was nothing short of amazing! Our servers, Marvin and Denise, went above and beyond to make our brunch experience truly unforgettable. Congrats on winning the White Hat award, Marvin! Chef Kyle served elegant and high-quality dishes that we truly enjoyed. Thank you, youre awesome! Also, Chef Hans clever use of seasonal fruits in the stunning desserts ended our brunch on a sweet note. Well be back to try dinner soon. Thank you!
Amazing food with excellent technique and execution. This team is seriously improving the menu everyday and making something special in calgary. Dont miss out on the tatsing menu that is slowly becoming a unique experience on the 27th floor above calgary in the Dorian hotel. Beautiful building with exciting potential time.
Attentive, top-notch service, delightful menu options, and a very creative drink list. We stayed for more twilight drinks on the patio to soak up the atmosphere a bit more. Highly recommend for a special night out to celebrate.
Before I write about my experience I just wanted to state that after reading some of the poor reviews below I believe that most of them are exaggerated and poorly constructed. We arrived on Friday evening and had a phenomenal experience. My brother has been here three times now and wanted to bring me as I was visiting from out of province. Everything from the service to the food and drinks the flow and taste of everything was fantastic. I have to mention that the a la carte menu is accompanied with palette cleansers (this is not mentioned), I haven t experienced anything like this outside of a Michelin star in Europe or Asia. We ordered the lobster and caviar, pasta, fish and chocolate dessert; all were perfectly cooked and had a unique flavour profile. To add, the cocktails were not only great tasting but presented beautifully, I had the tequila based immoral behaviour (definitely recommend). It s rare to find a restaurant that actually feels like fine dining in Canada and The Wilde definitely nails everything to a T . Hopefully I ll be back soon I know my family will.
Must visit!!!
Fine dining on the 27th floor is an understatement! The ambiance was lovely, the presentation of the food and the taste was a 10/10. Service was top notch, our server Marvin went above and beyond to ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Highly recommend The Wilde for any occasion.
Beautiful restaurant on the 27th floor, giving incredible views. The cocktails are amazing and I highly recommend the oysters!
A terrific dinning experience. We didnt have a reservation for our party of five but they were very accommodating and found a table for us. The food was delicious and the portions reasonably sized for the price
You have to eat here. This was such an amazing dining experience!! We did the Chefs Table experience and everything was impeccable. The creativity, quality and presentation of the food was truly unbelievable. The menu is compact but with a lot of variety so can appeal to all palates. The staff were exceptional and really made our experience special. The chefs and wait staff take a lot of pride in creating your experience which was evident by how they carried themselves. It is on the 27th floor and has a patio so a great place to enjoy a rooftop view for any occasion anytime of the week. They do a happy hour on Fridays only (according to their website) so if anything do yourself a favour and go check it out then. The atmosphere is very chill and you would fit in being business casual or formal which I always appreciate. We will definitely be back very soon.
My husband got food poisoning and had never been sicker :( Its really disappointing to write this review as I was really looking forward to The Wilde Brunch experience... After seeing so many awesome Instagram posts/reels about the brunch, I managed to make a reservation, which are hard to come by. The brunch was just okay, some items were tasty but roughly half the items were average. The unfortunate part is my husband got terrible food poisoning- worst Ive ever seen!!! He was violently ill, possibly from a bad oyster... He hadnt eaten anything else that day, so we know it was from the brunch. We left two voicemails for the manager and reached out on Instagram for someone to contact us. No one responded, even though I could see that my IG message was read. The brunch wasnt cheap ($125 per person + tax + gratuity) but we made it very clear that we didnt care for any compensation or money back- we just wanted to let a manager know about our situation so that they could ensure it wouldnt happen again. I didnt want to write this post, but after being ignored by management multiple times, I felt it was the only responsible thing to do. On the positive side, the service was great, and the ambiance was pretty cute. But again, the majority of the food was mediocre at best- the famous cheese cart was a joke (you get tiny slices of each cheese, nothing worth boasting about on IG)
Really lovely place, servers were above and beyond however the food requires the right pallet for the best enjoyment. Kid-friendliness: Brought food from another restaurant for a picky eater.
To quote the friend I was with, This was the best meal I have ever had in my life. Friday, July 28th was my second experience at The Wilde and I was extremely impressed both times. Special shout outs to Chefs Kyle and Aron for a seriously impressive, creative and fabulous meal and to Xemana, Denise and Marvin for their impeccable and friendly service. I had the opportunity to taste all but one dish on my previous visit to The Wilde with the group I was with then, and we were all wowed by the food. This time I only was only able to taste a couple of the current menu items, but again, the dishes were outstanding. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend anything on the menu. We are already planning to dine at The Wilde again to experience the next new menu that is currently being created by Chef Kyle and his team.
My husband and I decided to try the chefs 7 course tasting menu for our date night. We went out on a Tuesday night and sat on the patio. The table and view was amazing. We were very happy! The food only exceeded our expectations! Every single thing was delicious. The presentation and service was beyond expectations. It has been SO long since we went out and felt like we got our moneys worth. Every single person that came to our table was knowledgeable and friendly and seemed to want to be there. So thank you staff, you made our date night perfect, (even if on a Tuesday) and we will be back again and urge others to go, you will not be disappointed!
My family and I had an amazing time at The Wilde! Outstanding and friendly service and of course the food was absolutely delicious. We had the beef, lamb and halibut, each bite was a melt in the mouth and full of flavour. The appetizers were also unique and flavourful as well. Hats off to the chef! Also loved the design of the menus. Will be back for another dining experience as the menu changes every 6 weeks I believe!
This was our first time here and won t be the last Marvin s service was exceptional
Easily the best meal experience of all of our lives. Absolutely amazing! Service, food, and atmosphere were all 10/10. Unreal!
Amazing service, food and ambiance! Hands down one of the best fine dining experiences Ive ever experienced. Five stars is not enough. Form the Chef to the manager, just an impeccable staff! Thanks to Marvin, best experience.
My husband took me for my birthday to the Wilde. The atmosphere, food and service are incredible. The decor is classically formal, with deep rich jewel tones and gold accents. The room is open with romantic lighting, and large floor to ceiling windows that give a picturesque view of the city lights. When you re not in awe of the view you will find yourself absorbed in admiring the bright and boldly crafted cocktails. My husband and I tried a few different cocktails and were pleasantly surprised by the perfectly balanced ratio of flavours and alcohol, it was easy to drink too many because the flavours had you forgetting there was actually a decent amount of alcohol in each drink. My husband and I ate 3 courses and were extremely happy with the presentation, taste, quality and proportions. We left feeling extremely satisfied, and enjoyed the unique combinations and flavours that makes the dishes unique and gourmet. The service was fantastic and further elevated the entire dinning experience. Highly recommend coming here for special occasions or a romantic evening with your partner, also recommend getting a room at the Dorian hotel as the hotel is stunning and the combination of a formal dinner with a gorgeous room on a romantic night, cannot be beat!
We Came for a drink before wedding ceremony. Allison was fantastic! I then invited family to a mid day cocktail on a time restraint ( between ceremony and reception) With 20 of us , it was incredibly efficient and the craftsmanship of cocktails will make us choose this hotel again just to try the food next time. It is noticeable genuine care that is given. 5 stars we will be back!
In realms where drama and whimsy entwine, The Wilde on 27, a culinary shrine, Exquisite fare and cocktails that soar, A symphony of tastes, an encore. Mains so succulent, flavors embrace, Palates embark on a time-traveling chase, Desserts surprise with moonlit delight, Whimsical tales in every bite. Social and fine, a magical place, Where elegance and art interlace, Oscar would toast to memories made, In The Wilde on 27, dreams cascade.
Went for brunch recently and had made a reservation for 10 people. I didn t confirm my reso for 10 because they wanted me to prepay $1250! unfortunately many of my friends ended up unable to make it so I tried calling multiple times to change the reservation to 5 people and could not get through to anyone. I even left messages and no one called back. I did eventually get a call the day of the reservation and I was told I needed to pay $250 ($50pp) to modify the reso they agreed to wave the fee when they realized I was going to cancel the reso and they didn t have my credit card number to charge me. Ended up going to the brunch which was extremely disappointing, the breads were stale, the seafood not fresh, the oysters were terrible. The charcuterie meats were dried out and the olives were rotten! The buffet had no bacon, sausages, pancakes, waffles, eggs of any kind. All it had was Seafood station, charcuterie, deserts, pastries and a carving station with brisket. They wanted $15 for additional mimosas on top of the $125pp charge. The cheese cart came around once and they gave us one small slice of each cheese and one cracker to split between 5 people. The lobster hash and lemon pancakes were the only delicious items But when we tried to order additional plates they never arrived. Everything is designed for you to eat as little as possible, the buffet provides small side plates rather than normal sized dinner plates and you can tell they are cutting corners on the quality of the food they are serving. To top things all off they added on a 20% gratuity because the reso was booked for over 6 people even though I informed them only 5 were coming and they only actually served 5 people. Overall extremely over priced, very disappointing meal do NOT RECOMMEND. When you pay 5 star prices you expect 5 star service.
Best experience ever. I took my wife for her birthday and she loved it. One of the best restaurants in Calgary. We had seven course chef menu and was the best ever and I would grade it above Michelin star restaurants we have tried through out the world and also, we had their wine pairing and was great too. They have beautiful views of downtown. Thank you Ximena for your amazing service.
This restaurant disappointed us. Nice design and location, but we found a hair in the salad, its unacceptable! We called the manager to show our find, but instead of an apology, we were treated with disdain as guests. She behaved defiantly and rudely. We did not receive a refund or an apology either. We left this place and will never go back!
Terrible Experience and Discriminatory Treatment Avoid This Place Upon arriving, we were met with disappointment as we were seated in a corner area with no view. Despite our intention to make the most of our visit, the unfavorable ambiance led us to decide to just have dessert and then move to another café. Our ordeal took a turn for the worse when we received a penalty charge of $150 for cancelling our reservation merely five minutes after finishing our dessert and departing the restaurant. However, the truth of the matter is that we had spent a substantial 50 minutes at the establishment and even ordered a dessert. The most dismaying part of this experience was encountering the restaurants manager, Brianna, whose demeanor and professionalism left much to be desired. Not only did she make false claims that we had left without placing an order, but she also blatantly lied about the servers identity, citing an absurd reason that the servers name was sensitive information. This blatant dishonesty only further deteriorated the already tense situation. Adding insult to injury, Briannas discriminatory behavior was unmistakable. She presumed that my English language skills were inadequate because of my Ukrainian origin, which is an unjust and prejudiced assumption. Her condescending attitude and outright discriminatory comments were deeply hurtful and uncalled for. The servers actions were no better, as they, too, provided false information about our departure and order. Its disappointing to witness such dishonesty from the very people who are expected to uphold a standard of customer service. The mistreatment, dishonesty, and discriminatory behavior I encountered here are unacceptable and show a complete lack of respect for customers. No one should be subjected to such treatment, especially in a service-oriented industry. It is my hope that the management takes immediate action to address the issues raised here. Briannas unprofessional behavior and the servers dishonesty need to be rectified for the sake of future patrons. I genuinely believe that such individuals have no place in the hospitality industry and should be held accountable for their actions. To fellow diners, I urge you to steer clear of this restaurant until there are significant changes in their approach to customer service and their treatment of all patrons, regardless of their background. No one deserves to go through what my friends and I experienced.
Hi there, I want to share the low service and very bad attitude of the waiter and manager in this place. Brianna is the rudest manager Ive ever had experience with, cheating, discrimination and intolerance, disrespect, all was there.A change in leadership is much needed to ensure a healthier and more inclusive work environment.
Be mindful as servers of this restaurant are very likely to cheat on you, very poor experience and impolite staff Flied here from Toronto to have a dinner, but the service spoiled the impression, very dissapointed
terrible attitude towards customers and discrimination based on nationality. do not recommend
Love this place! This was my second time here. It was around noon on a Thursday, so not crazy busy yet. The best view in town, and, apparently, the highest patio in Calgary! Trendy, cozy, yet unpretentious, the service was terrific, the cocktails scrumptious, and the food unique she s exquisite. Totally remind this place. Our waiter and bartender were second to none. Thanks Nick and Sally! I first went for brunch in late spring. It was amazing! A mimosa to start, and all the delicious buffet food you can eat. Great service. Great ambience. Great food. A lovely dessert station, seafood station, and prime rib station. There was also table service for many items. You just kept ordering as you went. It was a lovely afternoon with friends. We all left stuffed, satiated, and extremely happy.
The drinks, bar food and services were exceptional. Thank you to Sally and Nick for the top notch services! Might be controversial but think I prefer the ambiance here over Major Toms. Looking forward to revisiting and trying out the mains!
Went here for my birthday dinner, and honestly, I was blown away. I am not sure who s having 1 star experiences but they took care of us well. From complimentary prosseco to very attentive wait staff, everything was perfect. This sounds kind of dumb but the in-house bread and brown butter was like top level. You know a place is going to be amazing when they put so much effort into making something as simple as bread and butter elevated. Their cocktails and mock tails are also top notch. They have diamond shaped clear ice cubes in cocktails. That s what life is about. This place is fine dining but a very casual comfortable atmosphere. It wasn t too loud. Very welcoming. Definitely worth going and waaay better food than Major Tom s. Vegetarian options: Only one option for vegetarian starter. But couple of options for forward. Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian and no alcohol allowed
We had such an amazing time at the Wilde. The view was gorgeous, but the real star of the show was the food, and the drinks. Sometimes I get worried that restaurants prioritize visuals over taste, but the Wilde hit it out is the park. The food tastes even better than it looked, which is saying something. Plus, all of the staff was super friendly, in a non fake, genuine way - especially the red headed bartender!
Wow. What a great restaurant! The food was incredible, and the drinks super crushable. A little on the pricey side, but the value was there. A perfect place to celebrate a special night, or just a regular treat yourself. Seriously, you have to try the Scallops, with the Spot Prawn bisque. Life changing. Will be back!
Heard of this hidden gem from my friends all the time, and I had the chance to get a reservation last night. Denise and Shimena we re both amazing, both of them took care of our table. Food was amazing knowing that they just launch the new one. It is a must-try for special occassions! Will definitely come back.
I had the privilege of dining at this fine dining restaurant recently, and my experience was nothing short of exceptional. As soon as I entered, I was struck by the magnificent view before me. The combination of elegant ambiance and breathtaking views created the perfect setting for a memorable evening. The food was equally remarkable. Each dish was a work of culinary art, carefully prepared with top quality ingredients. Every bite was an explosion of flavor, and the chefs creativity was evident in every plate. The dishes were also well presented which added to the viewing experience. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff was attentive, professional and knowledgeable about the wine list, which greatly enriched our dining experience. They also took the time to answer our questions and make sure we were satisfied at every stage of the meal. Thanks for everything.
Hands down one of the best restaurants and dining experience that I ve had in Calgary. Staff were super friendly and are very knowledgeable about the dishes that they serve. If you are visiting Calgary, I highly recommend this place for you to visit and dine. My fiancé and I enjoyed our dinner in this restaurant and they serve one of the best steaks in the city.
This place is amazing! Denise was our server and was very attentive with all queries and explained all their new menu with very much knowledge. The new elk dish and trout was so beautiful and delicious! We were serve a complimentary dessert as well to celebrate my birthday that night! Definitely a place to go for special occasions.
I really want to be giving this a higher rating. We went for my husband s birthday and had the tasting menu. Though we waited too long to order our first drinks (the poor server had clearly been assigned too many tables and struggled to keep up, though provided good service when she finally got to us), the cocktails and the first couple courses of the menu were outstanding. Very interesting food, plated and presented really well. Unfortunately, things went down hill after that. We waited around 25 minutes for our fish course, which was nice and well cooked when it arrived. Then, we waited again - more than 30 minutes for our main meat course. The waiting was absurd - the table beside us received and finished their mains while we sat waiting. They sat down after we had our first couple of courses but were served a completed meal sooner. We were seated next to the entrance to the kitchen, which was not a great seat being quite busy and loud, but we were willing to overlook that initially. It just become more annoying as we waited so long for our food. The server was aware of our long wait and offered me a complimentary glass of wine, but there was clearly some sort of issue with the kitchen. When our elk did finally arrived the cook was inconsistent - my husband s was too rare to truly enjoy. Again, the first few courses were really outstanding - on par with Michelin started/listed places we ve been to - but we left unsure if we would return because of the horrendously slow food service. Pacing of a meal is so important and this one was totally out of whack. I don t mind spending 3 hours or more for a great meal, but when over an hour of that time is spent waiting and hungry - not good. Off the start they noted there would be something special for my husband s birthday, but we didn t get anything. I would have appreciated having a manager speak to us or something else offered to offset our poor experience, which sadly wasn t worth it for the price.
My fiancé and I had our engagement at The Wilde; and I must say, it s the best decision ever. Sir Cloyd, Sir Marvin and Chef Hans were very warm and accommodating. They treated us like VIPs. I highly recommend The Wilde!
Went for my birthday and did the Chefs Table. The food was really good and the presentation of every dish was very well done. Tried things I probably would not have tried on their own, but because of the thoughtfulness of every concept everything tasted amazing. A true explosion of flavours with every bite! Service: -The service was not the best but also not terrible. They are very good at filling up water, taking away dirty dishes and cleaning up the table if it gets messy. -We had a food allergy which was mentioned at the time of the booking to see if it could be accommodated for the Chefs Table experience and they confirmed it could, however, they didnt mention it at all to confirm until we brought it up after receiving drinks and getting told our first dish was on its way. It would be nice for the servers to mention of any accommodations that were pre-arranged as soon as the table is seated, especially if its an allergy. The server confirmed this, and the chef eventually came out and introduced himself and the experience along with confirming once more the allergy was accounted for and an accommodation would be made when required. -Got a happy birthday card signed by some staff with my name on it already waiting at the table for us, which I thought was a nice gesture as not many restaurants do this. Not sure if this is for every birthday reservation or for those with a Chefs Table but it was a nice touch. -However, the bar took a long time every time we ordered drinks, it almost felt like they had forgotten to put the order through. -The actual servers were...okay. Not the most personable, to be honest. We had a few different ones come and introduce different dishes as they arrived and every single server basically word-vomited what the concept of the dish was (and in a very low voice, seriously could not even hear them). It all seemed like they just had the description memorized and wanted to get through it as fast as possible without actually caring to answer any questions from the table or ensure they understood what they were being served? I think for a Chefs Table this was very disappointing. The cost should include service that matches the food. It wasnt horrible, but it wasnt good. It was..okay. Ive had better service at The Keg, Cactus, etc. and it should not be like that, or even comparable. I think this is the one factor I would say is holding back this restaurant from receiving stellar reviews and growing its reputation.
Came here for drinks and appetizers for a girls night. Unfortunately we were made to feel less than as we weren t ordering the full menu. Once we placed our order and made it clear that we would not be having a main but we would have expensive cocktails and appetizers, the waiter showed immediate distaste for us. One minute later the manager came over to move us from our table in a mostly empty restaurant to a table in the corner facing the bathroom as we weren t having a main . Not once during the entirety of our hour there was the table filled. Felt as though we didn t matter as patrons because we weren t spending hundreds on the mediocre and over priced food and cocktails. Would stay away and go to other fan favourites in Calgary instead. Will not go back.
Honestly after reading all the negative reviews about the Sunday brunch we were a bit hesitant about The Wilde considering the price. My group and I were blown away. Excellent service, phenomenal food and just an overall good Vibe. Can t really say anything negative about it at all. If you are cheap then this is not the place for you but if you want a great brunch that is a bit more per a person than say the keg, then please visit The Wilde. If you are disappointed then your expectations are way to high. I will recommend this place and will be back for sure!
The Chef s Table Menu was wonderful and the staff were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Went out of their way to make it a great experience. Great views and ambiance.
The service and atmosphere was excellent. The menu is very specific and caters to a certain taste. Elk, duck, and other weird stuff. No salads or regular options. For that reason I m out !
We went for our anniversary and were treated to a personalized card from the staff and a glass of champagne! Very nice touch. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing-from the presentation to the flavour and combinations of items on the plate. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great night out!!
Thank you to all of the service staff who made us feel very special on our 32nd Anniversary! Vegetarian options: Great selection! Parking: Parking lot right beside Dorian Hotel where The Wilde is located.
Would highly recommend, I was not too sure what to expect as there was mixed reviews but my wife and I had a great experience celebrating our 20yrs anniversary there! Specifically, the service and ambience was exceptional!
This is a great place to go for brunch for a special occasion. The food is impeccable as was the service and the ambiance. There is coat check offered at the front and a thorough run down of the menu and options for the buffet experience. I would definitely recommend this spot for treating yourself/your guest to a memorable meal with great views of downtown Calgary.
Great selection of food ! Good view ! Good services !
I chose this restaurant for my wife s birthday, but I couldn t eat it because I didn t book the chef s recommended menu in advance. The menu is very simple, and there are not many choices. I feel like I have finished ordering the whole menu overnight. There are many choices of drinks, but there are not many attempts to drive with children. Generally speaking, the dishes taste very good, and there is no thunder. The eldest brother ordered two of their ducks and said it was delicious.
We celebrated my husband s birthday at there. We liked the bison tartare and the elk was more than expectation. The service was wonderful too, all the servers said happy birthday to hubby and they cleaned the table all the time! I brought a cake but I ll absolutely try their dessert next time! Ended up with 22% tip cause it s worth it.
Celebrating our fourth anniversary at this restaurant was an absolute delight. The exceptional service provided by our server, Humena, added a personal touch to the evening. The restaurant manager, Addis, went above and beyond in ensuring we were well-informed about potential future corporate events, displaying a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. Now, lets talk about the food it was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. The steak was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, the lobster surpassed all expectations, and the appetizer featuring scallops was a work of art. The attention to detail in food presentation, combined with the outstanding client service and inviting ambiance, created a dining experience that exceeded our expectations. This place has earned my wholehearted recommendation, and Ive already shared it with friends and coworkers. I cant wait to return for another memorable dining experience.
We had wonderful time at Wilde on 27th today - food was delicious along with outstanding service. Jason is our server today, giving us extra attention with detailed explanation on all many items and ingredients. Elk and Beef main courses were great, foie gras is probably best in Canada. Very glad chosen this place for our dinner.
This place has a lot of potential. You can tell they are fairly new and still working out some details, but they are worth a visit and I think will get even better with time. They are well staffed and service was good-the table was cleaned between each course and service was prompt and courteous. The view is excellent, with an abundance of floor-to-ceiling windows-its very Instagrammable, and we saw many people taking carefully curated selfies. We got the tasting menu and there were a number of really great elements, with a few minor blunders. The scallop and spot prawn were cooked perfectly, but the sauce overpowered them significantly. The elk and halibut were well cooked and balanced (juniper sauce on the elk was excellent). The foie appetizer needed an additional element to contrast the flavor and texture. Many of the garnishes felt purely aesthetic without adding to the dish (there was an abundance of edible flower petals), but the presentation was overall well done. The presentation and flavor of the petit fours was excellent-a very strong finish to the meal. We also got the wine pairing and there was some room for improvement. Our server gave varying levels of information on them (some had no introduction, others we got the vineyard and grape) and one arrived after the meal was almost done. My husband also asked for a glass of champagne and they served prosecco-bit of a disappointment, but oh well. Overall I would recommend going here, and I look forward to seeing the evolution of this restaurant over the next few years.
Stunning views, exquisite food and outstanding service from our server Denise making my wife s birthday extra special.
Amazing drinks, food and ambience! By far the best fine dining in Calgary, our server Ximena was exceptional and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much for a great night!
Amazing restaurant!!! Best experience from beginning to end. From being greeting by our amazing Host, Arjan, to the being served by our excellent server. Ximena. The food was impeccable and the art of plating was beautiful!! Attention to detail by everyone was remarkable. Thank you for a wonderful evening. If you haven t experienced this restaurant, IT IS A MUST!!
We went for brunch on Sunday with my gf. Was told about the new menu by a friend(who hadn t tried it himself yet) and it sounded fun and fancy. I was aware in advance of the $95 price ($20 more than Banff Springs brunch), which is fine but their offerings had better match the price tag and it definitely fell short staff was friendly but did not appear for have experience in fine dinning, forgot several drinks, didn t explain the different food stations, and worst of all the different stations were empty or behind with food offerings. I was told several times there is more coming soon (I ve never been told that once at Banff Springs). Most of the food was good when I actually got a chance to eat it. Restaurant itself was cramped, the entrance to the restaurant when you get off the elevator was the best part for decor. Overall it was disappointing to say the least
Thank you so much for such a great place Amazing food and service Food
My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday. We had the tasting menu with a bottle of wine. Lets start with the good! The restaurant itself is beautiful and has the perfect date night ambiance. The staff is attentive, helpful, and friendly. Presentation of the dishes are beautiful. The food itself was mediocre. All the dishes fell flat on flavor except for the scallops - that dish was very enjoyable and cooked perfectly. For those who dont know what red fife is (because I didnt), its bread. Which in my opinion shouldnt count as a course when you pay $150 a head. The cake or bread some of the appetizers sat on tasted old and stale. And the desserts were okay. Ive heard good things about the brunch buffet here so maybe Ill give that a try. However, I would not return for dinner because the taste and quality are not reflective of fine dining.
Amazing food, very friendly staff, amateur service. We had a girls night out and had a great time! The views were amazing and the food was delectable-with little details that I love such as an amuse-bouche and bread with Aleppo butter. The vibe of the place was cool and chic with an array of outstanding art and decor. The service, however, was so amateur. The staff were very friendly but clearly not trained. Two of us got our cocktails and the other two had to wait another 20 minutes. The waitress came with the wine before we got our cocktails and opened the bottle for us to taste. We had to tell her that we did not want wine ahead of our cocktail. The dishes came out and the waiters did not know who ordered what. We were still eating our appetizer when the waitress came out and shared that our mains were ready and asked us if we wanted to have them served(!?!). When the mains came, they were still clearing our appetizer dishes, the cutlery had not been set and so we sat for a few minutes with our mains but no cutlery. It was all completely out of order, not just a little, but a lot. Overall, I will come back for a drink but not sure the price range was worth it.
Atmosphere is probably the only thing they got going for them here. Please desist from profiling people and preempting their tables. And why shove service charge down our throats? The food is expensive for nothing.
Went for the Brunch for a girlfriends birthday. Have been wanting to try their brunch for a while now. The food was not as good as I thought it would be. For $95 a person, we may as well go for dinner instead. Their dinner was very good. They had different stations, a crepe station, a risotto one, one for seafood, one for beef wellington, one for eggs benny and one for snacks and desserts. Their crepes... Nothing special, something my younger sister who doesnt cook could make. Ive had better crepes and Ive made them with fresh fruit not the frozen stuff they used. Their beef wellington was pretty good, I really like their sauces that they provide. It was their chefs take on beef wellington, I would say, without the sauce the wellington itself wouldnt be as good. For the risotto, it was pretty okay. I prefer the saffron version over the mushroom. Saffron risotto was creamy but the truffle mushroom was watery and the truffle they used had zero truffle taste. They really should try truffle oil instead. Their meat and cheese and pastry bar wasnt anything special, pastries were dry, the cheese wasnt that great and the salami really shouldve been covered. They were air dried and hard. Their eggs benny station, everything was pretty bland. Everything tasted how it should separately, crab tasted like crab, pork belly tasted like bacon, hollandaise didnt have much to it... Putting everything together.. Its meh. I m an eggs benny person and try them at every brunch place I go. This was one of the worst ones. Their desserts was mediocre. Their cupcakes gave us safeway vibes... I dont really buy store bought cakes or cupcakes so that was let down. They had a peppermint Christmas tree that was marshmallow. I personally dont eat marshmallows. If anything their coffee panna cotta like dessert was pretty okay. Lastly, what I actually enjoyed is the seafood bar. They had these trout tartar cones that was very tasty. I enjoyed a lot of them. Their crab claws were good as well. The raw oysters were disappointing. I love raw oysters, the ones they had, they tried doing some fancy sauce that didnt taste good. At that point, just serve them with the normal compliments. Some lemon and horseradish can never go wrong. Service was okay. My friend got sprayed with hollandaise sauce accidentally. It was all over her shirt and jeans. All they offered was club soda which was no help. The staff doesnt seem to care. Just tried to avoid it as if it would go away as long as they pretend nothing happened. Hollandaise is oil, there were oil stains all over her shirt... No compensation whatsoever. Just said sorry, would you like some club soda? Thats just the service I expect for high end restaurant.... It is like night and day for their brunch and dinner. The Brunch made me think students were cooking. I would not pay $95 for students who are still learning. I would much rather go to an actual brunch place that serves amazing food. This was such a let down. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone. For brunch, go to Brekkie, Brokin Yolk, Zcrew, or Queens, they are all good options. If you want to come here for the experience, theres nothing stopping you. I would recommend going for dinner for the experience. Dont waste your money on the mediocre, over hyped brunch.
Wow! The Wilde greatly exceeded our expectations in every way! Delicious food, unexpected touches, amazing service. MUCH better than another popular downtown restaurant also located very high up. We will definitely be back!
My fiancé proposed to me at The Wilde and it was nothing short of magical. The ambiance of the restaurant is truly spectacular. Not to mention the beautiful views of the city at night! Additionally, the food was exceptional. We ordered the beef and elk entree s, and both were cooked to perfection. The amuse bouche, sorbet, and chocolates at the end were also a lovely touch! What really shined however, was the service we received that night. The moment we stepped inside, all of the staff were attentive and welcoming. Our server, Ximena, was fantastic! At the time I had no idea, but management had alerted staff to the surprise that would unfold so that things went as smooth as possible. For example, they delayed our entree s and ensured the patio was ready for when my fiancé was ready to pop the question! The meticulous attention to detail and delicate coordination that night whilst ensuring I didn t suspect anything was a large feat that the restaurant was willing to take on, and they did incredible. After the proposal, management was exceptionally kind and congratulated us with champagne. All of this made our engagement perfect, and the Wilde was truly the perfect place for such a beautiful surprise! I really want to extend a sincere thank you to all of the management and staff at The Wilde. My fiancé and I truly felt the night was made extra special by everyone s efforts. The Wilde will always have a special place in our hearts; I will forever appreciate everyone going above and beyond to make that night as special as possible, and will absolutely return again for future celebrations!
I was celebrating my friend milestone birthday at the Wilde. They accommodated us with my window seat request. We had the experience menu which was truly and awesome experience. From the choice of ingredients to the taste of the food are amazing. The plating is detailed and stunning. Each course is like an art and so nicely designed. Our server is excellent as he gave us time to mingle but also attentive to our needs before we asked so. I would definitely go back for the superb service and tasty food experience.
Sad excuse for a buffet. What kind of $100 per person buffet serves gummy candy and trick or treat candies?! Ontop of that their Benny bar ane wellingtons were out
Went for the Sunday brunch and it was really disappointing. We were really excited to try everything because we heard great things but they ran out of food for most of the guests because a huge 50+ party would take entire trays of food for their table. Service was very slow and disorganized, mashed potatoes were extremely salty and risotto was very undercooked. I m not one to write bad reviews but just a heads up for anyone who is going to spend $95 per person it s not worth it and better to go someplace else.
Amazing service and food
Views are great of course, however that s the best value out of the entire experience. Our experience with a service was mediocre at best for the style of restaurant, and food was extremely bland (elk tartare, and duck had almost no seasoning) I ve never had to add my own additional salt to each dish we ordered. For the extremely high prices vs quality of experience and small portions just save your hard earned shekels on this place. I sincerely hope ownership pays attention to my post, I m not the only first timer here that reported the same.
Had to come try the new menu and was very much looking forward to what Chef Opel put together! Place looks great and we were greeted kindly by the bartenders. The menu is inside some books which was rad. Ximena our server was fantastic and very attentive with great recommendations. She clearly knew what she was talking about! Chef Opel stopped by which was awesome and very much appreciated that. The food was delicious and we were pretty blown away - had foie gras, elk tartare, scallops, and bison. They were all unreal and you could tell they put a lot of effort into the presentation and making it unique. There was some fancy stuff so I did not know what was going on but it tasted delicious. Props to the Chef! You could tell he is passionate and really cares about providing a top notch experience with locally sourced high quality ingredients. I will definitely be returning as it sounds like there are some big plans coming.
Spectacular views, friendly all smiles staff! I really enjoyed this restaurant
Everything was perfect the food and the place, wonderful experience our server Denise was spot on.Definitely will go back again
Food was intricately thought of and flow of service was exceptional! Our server Denise was very knowledgeable of the menu and was able to assist us with every question and anticipated our needs.
Very lovely place. Service was on point--very attentitive. I loved their cheesecake dessert, every element just perfect! Atmosphere was nice, great aesthetic choice, but a touch too bright for the ambiance I think it should be going for.
Looked great on instagram but the quality of food and service definitely doesn t reflect the tier of restaurant they are TRYING to be. My friends and I came for a Friday night out as she was from out of town and decided to try out the place to see the hype and decide if we wanted to try the brunch. Definitely was not enjoyable. - service was not the best, my food slid around on the plate when it was brought to our table and almost fell on my friend. Hence the weird plating on the appetizer. They were definitely not enjoying their job, everything seemed forced and emotionless. - the server mixed tap water with still water, so why would we ask for still? ( yes its bougie, and $8 a bottle of Evian, but my glass was still 3/4 full and decided to pour tap water into my cup)? They seemed like they were not having a good night, and I definitely didn t want to ruin the mood with my friends. - duck breast was cold on the inside and still red as seen, I could only taste the blood and had no flavour, at least season with salt would have been nice, at least I didn t get sick after. - I tried some of the cod from my friend and was very fishy and way too salty the chicken skin was fried with old oil, tasted sour - I also tried some of the tender loin was cold and tasted like previously frozen meat and had no salt, the other accompanying foods tasted like hotel or airplane food - the sweet bread and the crisps used for the appetizers were stale and old. They fell apart when we put pate on top, the butter was over sold, it tasted like butter. - oysters look good but had a bit of slimy aftertaste and was too warm , definitely not fresh - the drinks were not great, nothing exciting , the small menu was definitely hard to choose from. We already had 6 items from the 11 items between the 3 of us. 1 star for the view and ambiance The food was definitely not worth it, the instagram dessert was not even good and sour. Definitely won t book for the brunch, or come back. I don t mind paying for good quality food but definitely nothing met up with my expectations.
Booked a reservation with them then they call me a few days later saying that I no longer have a reservation because of a function going on. Super nice to let you book make plans then cancel it last minute. Will never be eating here
Very disappointed in how The Wilde team handled our reservation. We made reservations a month and a half ago for our friends 40th surprise birthday. I received a voicemail 10 days before our reservation that they wanted to cancel our reservation. I was out of country and was not able to check voicemails. During my vacation I got an email indicating the restaurant had moved my reservation back 1.5 hour to 8:30pm. I tried calling with no answer, I submitted an online inquiry on their website with no reply and I finally sent a message through open table. Their staff replied indicating they have an event and was not able to accommodate our reservation. In the phone message and the reply message on open table there was no acknowledgement of the inconvenience or an apology for changing the reservation and our surprise plans. I replied indicating how difficult it was to try to find a 7:00pm reservation on a Saturday during the holiday season, they did NOT reply and proceeded to just cancel my entire reservation. There was no email follow up or apology for doing that either. The Wilde on 27th - DO BETTER. That is not how you treat guests. Apologize when you change a booking and maybe you could have offered us a drink in the lobby bar to hang out for an hour and half before dining with you at 8:30pm and not just cancel a reservation with no notice or correspondence.
Fantastic culinary experience. Welcome addition to Calgarys food scene. Unlike anything else in the city. Cant wait to visit again.
Beautiful restaurant and even more impressive food and service. A true gem. Well worth the visit.
This incredible hotspot is the place to be! The food has been carefully crafted and meticulously designed to satisfy one s cravings and the impeccable dining service experience provided by Marvin is unparalleled among many other restaurants . The breathtaking ambiance and view is only secondary. It s a big fat 5 star rating for this place without a doubt!
When I was invited to an event at The Wilde, I had no idea what to expect. But from the moment I stepped off the elevator, I was breathless! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a keen attention to detail that couldnt all be taken in at once. A cozy lounge and intimate dining room, with a delightful balance between modern and classic decor. The tasting menu was stunning! With selections to fit any palate. A beet tartar amuse-bouche, elk tartar starter, apple-pomegranate sorbet palate-cleanser, Alberta beef tenderloin medallion with sweetmeats, and dessert simply called Fruit (that was anything but simple). Everything else looked amazing, but those were my selections, and they paired wonderfully with the evenings feature: Alberta Distillers Reifel Rye Whisky. An amazing evening from start to finish. Thank you to everyone who made it special.
