Chairman's Steakhouse in Calgary

Awesome luxury 5 star restaurant. We were there for a date night. Our waiter was knowledgeable on their well known steak cuts, polite, professional and friendly. Everything was great! From service to food to drinks to transitions to ambience and overall experience. Definitely recommend.

Simply amazing

First and also LAST VISIT. To be honest, the worst wagyu beef that Ive ever had in my life. We made a reservation at 7pm but got seated at 7:30pm and after all the introductions and stuff, we got our food at 8:30pm. The server was great, she explained all the beef and also checked on us for the whole time. But this is just a standard service that I also get from other fine-dining restaurants. But to be honest, comparing to the price and the food........ super overpriced and I believe I can get better food quality at same price somewhere else, not worth the 40 minutes drive. The wagyu flight plate $155 of 4 different countries wagyu beef (2oz each), I was told by the server that the Japanese wagyu is the top one of the world (also as what I know) and I tried Japanese wagyu all over the world and even in Japan. However the Japanese wagyu was the worst one out of the four. And all other three are just OK beef, I wont even called them wagyu. I thought wagyu should be oily and soft? but I thought was chewing gum at the whole time. The server brought the wagyu that I spited out to the kitchen and the explanation I got was the wagyu I got might be the end part of it, but shouldnt a fine-dining restaurant kitchen check that before they serve their food to the customer? My friend got 35 days aged steak, umm...... to be honest, $125 with not even one broccoli or sides, and I would say the Keg has better steak than that. My friend also didnt finish the steak. Spent 40+40 minutes driving and $300+ plus tips on this 2-ppl meal, I feel I should just went to the Keg. $27 wine, $18 lobster mac & cheese, $14 ceaser salad, $155 wagyu flight, $125 35-days aged steak. Even though they refunded me 1/4 price of the $155 wagyu, I think I shouldve spent that money to other places to get better quality food. NOT RECOMMENDED, wont ever back again.

Celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary at Chairmans! And, boy we did not regret!! Excellent 36 oz Porterhouse for 2 that my wife and I shared. Actually, she waived the white flag after maybe eating on a quarter of the steak. So, I had to step up and finish the rest! ... Ha! Our kids are visiting for the holidays so, were planning a return trip to hopefully convince them to move here so that they too can enjoy Chairmans!

Second time here, the food is always very good, love the vibe too! Steak and seafood was my fav:)

I have been to Chairman s several times and every time, it always gets better and better. The dishes have always been amazingly delicious, flavourful, and tasty. The service has also been top notch! They have been very kind, funny, helpful and have always provided great service over all. My family and I always love to see Whitney and have her provide our service. She is amazing and we have always loved her. The atmosphere is also great, very unique in every possible way, the decor, the colours, and the seats are comfy. We have always enjoyed coming back and enjoying the food, atmosphere and of course Whitney. 10/10 I recommend

The steak was fantastic, the ceasar salad was over dressed, the service was mediocre. When we finished our meal, we didnt see anyone for 20 minutes. Glasses were empty, wanting desert. Didnt bother getting either. Was also choked to find out after our meal that there was coat check, which was never offered. Sat with our jackets around our waist.

My husband and I have enjoyed going to Chairmans, we enjoy bringing family and friends to celebrate special occasions and anniversaries and historically have been quite impressed with the food and service. (Thus bringing others for the experience) That being said our 2 most recent visits (about 2 weeks apart) were sorely disappointing. Understandably, when visiting Chairmans part of the appeal is the entire experience - from the moment you walk through the doors. The cost can be justified by the caliber of food and service they provide... so when the food and service back-to-back are less than desirable and inconsistent I dont see the appeal or justification. On both occasions we had our orders being brought out and placed in front of the wrong people around the table... simple enough, not the end of the world but then add on the actual food... my husbands waygu platter arrived cold. Not just slightly but vividly cold. We are not paying for a cold steak experience. On the second visit, my chicken and my friends order of chicken arrived overwhelmingly over-salted. I pushed my plate to the center because there was no way I was eating it and she stomached maybe half of hers. Ironically, from the moment our food arrived, our waitress did not appear once to ask How are you enjoying your meal This question came only once we were paying the bill and it was more of a misplaced Im so glad everyone enjoyed their meal assumption/statement. Despite my decision to not eat the chicken, my husband did pick at it because he is all for not wasting. That chicken, I would/could waste. Once the waitress brought the bill and my husband placed it to be paid, she didnt come back for a goooood while and cleaned tables around us for about 20-30 mins while a few of us placed on our jackets ... to indicate we were waiting to pay and leave. She avoided eye contact/any acknowledgment of our table. Yeah, no thank you. And we were not a ruley disorderly table... Between the two meals, my husband and I concluded we would be seeking out a new restaurant to frequent. We arent paying the Chairman for a disappointing experience, that could easily be achieved elsewhere at a fraction of the cost. Without the positive experiences prior, we would have been turned off completely from the Chairmans reputation. Two dinners in a row... is it worth it? At this point - nope. Its a lot more bearable to eat a steak served warm elsewhere with subpar service than to go to the Chairmans and receive that same standard for a higher price. Ratings reflect the compiling of all our experiences otherwise itd be lower.

Its not often I feel like restaurants hit the sweet spot of quality and serving size, but wow did our meal not disappoint! Not to mention the great atmosphere (calling all Frank Sinatra fans) and top tier service. Did I mention the washrooms...? 10/10. Even if youre not in south Calgary, this place is worth the drive (theres free parking afterall) We will definitely be returning.

The food is good, the restaurant is great BUT our server Dan was the reason for making us want to come back to Chairman s. Dan was engaging and funny and made our evening! If you get the chance to request a server on a Tuesday or a Saturday I would ask to be seated in Dan s section!

Superb! While there are many steakhouses to choose from in Calgary, this is one of the best. The steaks are top quality and served with side dishes that are as good as the mains. They also have an extensive wine list and drink menu that pair for the perfect meal!

We tried this absolute beauty of a restaurant for the 1 st time last night, Our 10 yr anniversary (October 21 2024 7:30 pm) I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. We ordered the Shrimp Cocktail,36 oz Porterhouse,Brocoli Au Gratin,Black Truffle Double Stuffed potato and finished off with the carrot cake. Everything we ordered was a solid 10/10 perfectly cooked,perfectly seasoned and our waitrer Brian was a f***n ROCK STAR! Another reason we chose this restaurant is the no children under 10 policy, We didnt want a bunch of children running around screaming, being annoying and we appreciated the dress code. We will definitely be coming back. Still thinking about the food 24 hrs later lol

Its a bit of a hike to get here if you are in the Northern part of the city, but I would say its definitely worth it. A very well-oiled experience from the service right down to the food. Very nice interior and view from the dining room as well.

Best old fashioned i have ever had

Came here to celebrate my girlfriend s birthday, as well as our first time to Chairmans. The food was excellent. Unfortunately the service side was a little bit disappointing. We were quickly greeted without any ask about the occasion or if we had even been their before, he did not offer his name either. The reason I say this is because the server at the table beside us gave a great introduction regarding all those notes. When bill came it was dropped off and he had walked away with no further conversation to be had. Just wish we could ve had the full experience service wise. We definitely will be back as the food was spectacular we just did not feel we were treated as well as we could ve been.

Ordered the Tomahawk, pretty decent but wouldn t say it s the best in Calgary. However the service and atmosphere make up for it

Let me first start off by saying the food is great. So great that my son says this place makes his favourite fries. So every few months we stop in to grab two orders of fries for take out. First off, you can not place a take out order by phone. You must come in and sit at the bar and order them from the bartender. The two times I ve done this I ve been dissatisfied with the experience. The first time I said hey, it s his birthday, all he wants are your fries. If you re willing, can you load him up? Nope, was given the standard two take out boxes, each only about half full. The second time, same thing. So I actually counted the fries. 31 in box one 44 in box two $26 for 75 fries And while I know it s a high end steakhouse, come on, it s potatoes and salt. Thirty three cents a fry is excessive especially when I have to come in, order them and wait for them. I otherwise love this place, and honestly this is the only time I m dissatisfied, but I kind of wish I d never brought my son as he craves the fries regularly and two order barely satisfies.

The kebabs were tear worthy! The Santa Barbara cocktail will bring me back!! My date enjoyed the chicken sandwich. He said it was excellent. (High praise from him!) Dietary restrictions: Some gluten free choices. They are willing to make your choice gluten free if possible.

We went to Chairmans for the first time last night. Food was excellent, it was a milestone birthday for my wife and honestly service fell over a bit. When we arrived for our booking we had to wait 15 minutes in the lounge which honestly I didnt appreciate but it happens. Im the lounge the server spilled a drink on my son and soaked him through. Not the best start but again these things happen. Once in the restaurant it took over 20 minutes to get our order in and server was not super attentive. Food took over an hour to arrive (we did have the smoked ribeye for 2). Overall probably would not go back solely based on service. Drink spilled and other than a brief apology from the server, no effort by management or hostess to make it right with a hair dryer or towels or anything of the like so my son sat through dinner with pants that were soaked through and he was embarrassed and other than what was mentioned above, we arrived at 7:30 and left at 10:30 with only mains ordered. We were going to order desert but server took too long in extensive chats with other tables. It just seemed too drawn out. I have been to all of the high end steak houses in Calgary and this was the least customer centric service we have received. Food was amazing though.

Had the opportunity to visit Chairmans for the first time a few days ago. Was really looking forward to it. The food did not disappoint - everything was excellent! Service unfortunately was lacklustre - I gave it two stars, maybe three would have been more fair - it was just a little disorganized, a little inattentive, and a little overbearing at various times throughout the evening. At a place like this, I think people expect top notch service and in this case it was not really any better than what you would get anywhere else. Hence I suppose I docked another star for not meeting expectations. All in all, its a pretty cool place with great food - I enjoyed it and will go back again, maybe with different expectations. Parking: Complimentary parking in the parking garage. Lots of street parking available as well.

High end steak house, but with a comfortable atmosphere. It is about 3 hour seating, so dont come here to eat and leave. Its a dine experience. The food is great, and service is whst shines. Has an amazing view as well!!!

I was disappointed to be honest. The gnocchi was gummy and dense with little flavor. The steak was cooked well at least! I know they have a patio, but all the flies and fruit flies flying around my meal really took away from the experience.

This experience was so great. They explained every cut of steak, just for me to order the fish. The bathroom was top of the line in the latest toilet technology

This restaurant is stunning. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was very reasonable and portions were very fair. My one small gripe would be that I ordered an old fashioned and found out its just premixed. I wanted mine less sweet but they couldnt accommodate. They took it off the bill and I had something else. All in all, a VERY memorable night and well be back!

I prefer Hy s but this is a close second. Oysters were good. Steaks good but not great. Sides were good but not great. Service was good but not memorable. Wines were good. Cocktails good. I ll go back for sure.

Our server (Dany) was extremely professional. Quality of food and extensive drink list is outstanding. Atmosphere has been well cultivated in every aspect. One gets what they pay for.

Went here for my first time for an early Birthday dinner. Everything was perfect! It is definitely a high end restaurant, so be sure to dress up nice Parking: The free underground parking is great, and would be perfect on a cold winter evening. You can enter the restaurant without even going outside.

Wow what a fantastic place. Servers were very courteous. The steak was incredible. The tuna tartar had so much flavour.

Overall we had a good time. Nice options for steak. We had 36oz Canada prime bone in smoked ribeye with broccolini and very overcooked brussels sprouts; along with tartar. Cocktails are great, and cheesecake is very soft and creamy. Atmosphere is classy and I liked it, quite jazz music and old fashioned way of serving. The disappointing part at the end was to receive a parking ticket even though we were told there was a complimentary parking (which it should considering the total bill and generous tip).

Came here twice already and I have to leave a review! The food was amazing, the quality of the steaks were amazing, the doneness in the steak was top tier. I have the ribeye both times and I melted, the Mac and cheese 10/10 along with the mashed potatoes and the cheesecake! It s my new special occasion go to!

27th wedding anniversary meal. Did not disappoint us as we were referred there with raving reviews from friends. Treated like royalty and the meal and meatecation lol was top drawer. As a plumber, I really appreciated the impeccable washrooms and the Toto nearest fixtures. We are looking forward to coming in for the live music . We live just west in Crestmont and with Stoney Trail south opened was fast and easy to get to and from. Also found that you could eat the best ever and not spend a lot, very good value for the money. Well done Chairmans , see you again soon.

Held a business anniversary here and it was top notch all around! Elisea the assistant GM is phenomenal!

Such a beautiful place! Really feels like fine dining .until I got my glass of wine, took a sip, and a had to spit a LIVE fly back into my cup. Definitely not the restaurants fault, but our when we told our server we didn t get an apology, and oh no or anything. He just returned with a new glass, which I thought was kind of weird since I was picking fly legs and wings out of my mouth afterwards. Other than that, lovely experience!!

Best steakhouse in yyc

My Husband and I just got married and we were looking for a place to have dinner to celebrate just the two of us and we went to Chairmans. To say that we were blown away is an understatement. From the time we arrived to when we left our server Chris was fantastic, and we dont say that lightly both being in the service industry. Our food was beyond our expectations. We had the bone marrow and shrimp cocktail, i had the tenderloin and he had the ribeye both with the blue cheese crust and port sauce with mashed potatoes, broccolini and lobster mac n cheese. We were so full we couldnt eat our dessert and got it to go. We cannot wait to come back and have decided this will be our wedding anniversary dinner spot for the foreseeable future, and every time we will be requesting Chris as our server.

Used to come here all the time to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Tried to make a reservation to celebrate my husband s milestone birthday and was told that our 8 year old daughter was not welcome as they don t allow any children under 10 on the premises. Very disappointed in this policy. We won t be celebrating any more events here.

It was ok....After reading other reviews I had really high hopes, which was maybe the problem. The food was nicely cooked, service was a bit disorganized, booths were not comfy. The high prices arent worth it in my opinion. The parking was surprisingly easy for the neighborhood.

Our server Chris was truly amazing. We were consistently tended to and taken care of. The food was excellent and Chris ensured we understood exactly what we were ordering and explained the different varieties of flavours in the dishes. The group and myself were nothing short of satisfied.

Great food awesome service. FYI to parents, no kids allowed under 10 years old. They were kind enough to call us and cancel our latest reservation since we put it in our reservation request.

Was really looking forward to dining at Chairman s but left extremely disappointed. Had reservations for 7pm and was seated promptly, but then waited 28 minutes for someone to come take our drink/food order. In addition to this, 15 minutes after we sat down, we received a call from the hostess asking if we were still going to make it to our reservation (while we were sitting in the dining room). Completely unprofessional. Giving 2 stars because the food was fine, just incredibly bad service. Parking: Register for free underground parking.

Absolutely amazing experience at Chairman s last night! I dined there with my boyfriend for our anniversary and everything was amazing from start to finish. Whitney took care of us so well and went above and beyond to make our night extra special. She was so lovely and made sure to thoroughly go over the menu with us which led to us choosing perfect dishes. My boyfriend doesn t drink and there was an excellent selection of mocktails, and they had a non alcoholic beer to offer as well. Our food was cooked perfectly and we both left full and satisfied! We also did not have to wait long for our appies or our mains! The atmosphere in this restaurant is warm and the staff are extremely polite and so friendly. Truly one of the most beautiful places that we have been to. Thank you Whitney for making our experience one to remember! We can t wait to be back!

Outstanding restaurant!! Our server Jessica was very knowledgeable and provided the best service I have ever had from a restaurant. The food was cooked to perfection and the atmosphere was comfortable. On a side note . They have heated toilet seats in the bathroom!! Dietary restrictions: They are accommodating the dietary restrictions. Most of their menu is gluten free and they have a separate deep fryer.

My husband and I came in around 830pm tonight September 11, 2024 hoping to get a good dinner at the end of a long busy day..the front greeters were very pleasant as we said we dont have a reservation but they said its fine. We chose to be seated at the far left of the lounge. The waitress came in who is not as pleasant as the girls up front. She did not even tell us her name. To start, we ordered a drink for me a tequila caesar. I got the drink but it still was vodka not tequila, but I did not complain. She took the menu and made the table lamp fall on the table and landed on the glass of water and broke it. My husband got drenched by the water. She picked up the broken glass and I even told her to be careful not to hurt herself. She asked if we want to move to a different table but we said we didnt have to, my husband just told her to pick up the shard of glass left under table. We proceeded with going through the menu and ordered the Wagyu flight which is $155+ and the date night set menu which is $135.. The wagyu came in a chopping board that has all the flags from where each wagyu taster comes from, Canada, US, Australia and Japan.. so we consumed our meal. I had to stop eating as I didnt realize how big of the meals they were...We were done eating and was waiting for the waitress to come..But we waited and waited and finally after a good half an hour she came in. Realizing that the set meal includes a cheesecake as dessert. I asked the waitress for the dessert. I dont know why she said to my surprise, No you cant take the plate! I was dumbfounded to her even thinking I wanted the plate!!!! Why would she think that I would want to take a property of the restaurant and used at that!!!! I got so offended that at first I said well just take the dessert to go because I lost my appetite for one! I was so upset that I ask for the manager... So I learned the managers name is Afis..I recounted the incident but he said just to pacify me, that they had experienced in the past that customers there want to take home restaurant plates charcuterie boards as souvenir ??? Really? I dont think so...from the google description of the place, it says an UPSCALE restaurant...so I dont think anybody who comes here would want to take home a USED CHARCUTERIE BOARD! So you diners of Chairmans steakhouse, would you take a restaurant plate as a souvenir???? How dare he even say that... He tried to take the $155 from my bill but I said put it back... So I paid for the whole thing and gave $50plus tip even if I was not satisfied with the service...Anyway.. I dont know if I would want to go back to this place...The whole experience first with the waitress then with Afis left a bad taste in my mouth...even with the taste of the expensive wagyu flight lingering in my mouth that bad taste overpowered it... Parking: The indoor parking is way too tight... My car door refused to even even open. (Its a Tesla )

Update: Issue resolved..Thanks a bunch !!! As you would expect in a fine dining spot. You have to register your car plate for limited time free parking. My friend got ticketed as she went overtime!

First time being here and it s just so nice to have a proper fine dining option close to home in the deep SE. You can get pretty crazy with the options for how much you want to spend but we kept it pretty average. Ribeye was great. Sablefish was on point. The signatures side were awesome. We tried a few different cocktails and enjoyed all of those. Topped it off with the toffee pudding and had nothing but good things to say about the whole experience.

We were there for the first time to celebrate a milestone birthday for my wife. We had a spider drop in from the ceiling and almost land in my drink soon after we sat down. The spider was caught in my napkin and given to the server. To start we had the cheese toast and Ceasar salad. The cheese toast was quite good, but the Ceasar salad was drenched with way too much dressing. We both had the Baked Lobster Thermidor at $87 per plate. The lobster was chewy and the overall dish was extremely rich and heavy. For sides we had a Broccoli & cheese gratin, this was extremely heavy, rich and overly creamy. the overall texture was like a cheese soup. Our second side was the Crispy Cauliflower, this was probably the best dish of the night. We did not finish the meal as is was way too rich and heavy to finish in one sitting. There was no possible way we could have enjoyed a dessert! We paid our tab and left. After all the big ratings we have heard, we were quite disappointed. Fantastic!!

Great experience and super cool venue (especially the toilets) but honestly food was subpar given the prices. Hys is superior Im afraid. However, Dan the Man was a phenomenal server. Ask for Dan.

Safe, basic and overpriced. I ve had tartare around the world and this was very basic and safe, possibly a google recipe. Not at all what I would expect for the price I m paying. Onto the filet, again basic, basic, basic, even with an added blue cheese crust, it just couldn t hit the taste for the price point I paid. I would recommend this for a first date or corporate dinner, only because the atmosphere is nice and you re safe with the food. Save your money, there s a lot of steakhouses that do it better.

Wednesday Special

Came in for a birthday dinner and the evening couldn t have been better! We did the Wednesday dinner for two and all the food was delicious. Steak was perfect as were the sides. Big shout out to Sam who took such great care of us! Parking: They have free underground parking.

Food is delicious, and the service and atmosphere were wonderful. The meat was wonderful, opting for the date night rib eye. Sides were also delicious, and the truffle potato was one of the best things Ive ever eaten. Only losing a star as we had to wait close to an hour for our table. They did comp our party our first drink, which was a nice touch but we finished our meal later than most of us would have liked. Difficult to also get a hold of on the phone if you need to change a reso that OpenTable cant quite accommodate.

We have been at Chairman s couple of times now, and my partner and I can definitely say this place has become our favorite « dinner date » spot in Calgary. We have tried many steakhouses but the food quality and service is A1. Michael our server was amazing!

Date night every Wednesday, meal for two for $110 There are 3 appetizers, 3 side, 1 steak and 1 cheesecake Good taste and good environment

After an hour wait, our medium-rare shared smoked ribeye came out closer to a medium well to well done. Kudos to our server to getting this quickly resolved but we had to wait another 30 minutes. This second steak came out with pretty much the same doneness as before and at that point so my friend and I told them it was fine. We told them it was fine because we weren t going to wait another 30 minutes for another refire. After dinner, both my friend and I got sick (diarrhea) an hourish after we finished our steak. I do have to mention our steak was taken off the bill. No problems whatsoever with the service or atmosphere but for the food I would never come again.

The food was decent - it would be the first time I ate a steak that was cooked properly. The risotto was salted out the wazoo though. Though, for spending well over $100 per person, I was hoping for a more pleasant dining service. It took 50 minutes after ordering to receive our food and another 30 minutes of sitting to get the bill. As mentioned previously, the sides were over-seasoned but not once did our waitress fill our water (she never told us her name but she had the eyelash/angel wing tattoos on her right forearm). It was clear that she was blatantly favouring the bigger table ordering many drinks - to which she served multiple times before we had to flag another staff member over to ask for our bill. Upon getting the bill we mentioned the service was slow and the risotto was salty. To which she rolled her eyes and said wow lots of feedback. She also set the pay machine in front of me (a woman) and made a comment along the lines of I don t want to assume, I mean I always grab the bill for my boyfriend which was completely unnecessary. This whole encounter after a couple of feedback comments left us feeling quite bummed out over our meal. It felt like there was no genuine desire to resolve anything. After reading several comments on the service here on Google, this is not an establishment I would recommend.

An elegant yet cozy dining experience. Theres something on the menu for everyone, and the margarita in particular was as good as Mexico. Pricey, but definitely worth it.

Four of us popped into Chairman s the other night for their 4110.00 two person Wed date night special. They did not disappoint. You get cheese toast and your choice of Caesar or green salad, a 20 oz ribeye sliced with your choice of two sides, and Chairman s cheesecake for dessert. Both food and service was over the top. Our server Michael, was superb, thank you Michael. I suggest this as a go to for what can be an inexpensive night out. Once you add appies, and wine and drinks, the bill starts to climb real quick. The menus light up when you open them, very cool feature. The lounge doesn t take reso s, and it is a bit more casual, and a slightly different menu. I had the smoked Old Fashion and they did not disappoint again.

Was really looking forward to Chairmans. Ill start by saying we had the date night special, and Ive since heard very mixed reviews. Ambience and service was outstanding, however we were highly disappointed in the steak and stuffed potatoes. Steak was VERY fatty, (and I dearly appreciate fat in a steak) but losing 1/3 of a ribeye to pure fat hurts). Stuffed potato sounded amazing but was mostly cheese, with little else... Not great. With the special, meal, drinks and tip was $200. Might try again with a select cut of meat, but the date night special was a big miss for me.

A wonderful experience throughout. We shared a large 36-oz bone-in steak with several appetizers. Everything was delicious and the service was amazing. The environment is classy, as were the other patrons present while we were there. Conversations were muted but there was occasional laughter and no one minded, yielding a casual feel to the experience. Everyone around seemed to be enjoying their meals as well and the servers went above and beyond to see to our needs and requests. Definitely the best steak I ve had in Calgary, and in fact, in North America (there s one experience in Korea - with Japanese beef - that still tops the chart for me, worldwide). Parking: There is an underground parking lot with an elevator, providing easy access to the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: I was there with two other adults, but if I had brought my children I would have forewarned them about the type of atmosphere (keep conversations quiet, no running around, stay at the table). Nothing too severe, but they should know this is an environment for quiet conversations and enjoying a meal together without loud disruptions or kids playing about. Wheelchair accessibility: There is an underground parking lot with an elevator, providing easy access to the restaurant.

One of the best dinners I ve had in Calgary!!! Strict dress code in the dining room though!

Chairman s absolutely deserves 5 stars every time unless some sort of anomaly took place in which case a 4 might be warranted. We had Dan as our server for a family dinner. I have spent 8 years working in this industry prior to moving along, and I can very confidently say this was the best service and meal I ve ever had in Calgary (12 years living here), and it would compete with some of the finest dining/experience I ve personally experienced internationally. Dan is the man, he s prompt, not pretentious whatsoever, and extremely personable. Whoever hired him likely knew they were securing a fine employee. Well done Chairman s.

First time at Chairman s with my fiancée, staff was very energetic, knowledgeable, and classy. Everything on the menu was beyond expectation. Will definetly be returning in the near future.

Omg this was hands down the freaking best food at a steakhouse ever soooooooooooo good the service was top notch I would highly recommend going here even though its a bit pricey but 100% worth it. Yes, it s expensive to go all out on dinner nowadays but it s delicious. Brussels sprouts, cheese bread, the smoked beverages. There is a date night deal one weekday night as well.

I am constantly telling my friends great things about Chairman and how its worth the drive down south. But my experience on 8/1 has left a sour taste. I arrived at 10.25pm only to find out they are no longer serving food. I spoke to Elsa and mentioned that I called the restaurant several times at around 10PM and no one was picking up and that would have saved me the trip. Elsa response was she was too busy to pick up the phone. The restaurant is empty. Elsa was chit chatting with the her colleages at the front and was not doing what she was hired to do. Elsa proceeded to say I should have arrived earlier. I think highly of Chairman but not with the level of service from Elsa. That is a downgrade and a liability for the business. I will longer bring families, friends and customers to Chairman. Basic customer service skill is to not sound defensive to your customers. Elsa failed at this and should find a different gig.

Food was good service was lacking

I called to inquiry about veg food in your restaurant. That lady who was on phone told me kids under 10 years not allowed in the restaurant thats your policy. But as a family thats our emotional policy that never go for dinner without full family. Your person suggests me come only me and my wife. That means you are believing in separation of family not family together??? I was planning to come to your restaurant to have dinner and fun with family and just for dinner, not for other activities in your club which not good for kids. Really disappointed with response on phone by your employees and also not impressed with your policy that not allowed kids under 10 years in your restaurant. This is totally intention to keep family separate. But truth is family looks happy together.

We ve been fortunate enough to come to @chairmansyyc quite a few times now and it is always fantastic! The fact that we can go out for an elegant date, walk there, and not have to go outside of Mahogany is awesome. 5 stars across the board for this place. Keep up the great work!

One of the best high end restaurants in Calgary.

My partner and I came in for our anniversary dinner and our server Alec was incredible. He was so personable and friendly. Happy to answer all our questions. He explained so much about the drinks and menu. He was amazing. We will be back because of him. The food and drinks were delightful. Absolutely 10/10 experience.

We traveled all the way from Toronto to Calgary just to try this steakhouse, and it did not disappoint. As first-time visitors, the server (whose name I unfortunately forgot ) was incredibly patient in explaining the menu and the different cuts of steak available that day. In the end, we chose the local ribeye, and it was cooked to perfection juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The sides also exceeded my expectations, especially the fried cauliflower, which became my favorite. Highly recommend this place for any steak lover!

A high-end steak house with excellent wait staff, an extensive wine list, and superior food offerings. Very pricey but worth it

We had a 7 person reservation on Aug 10 at 7pm. While entering the facility and approaching the hostess (unsure of her name, she had red hair) she looked my spouse and I up and down in disgust. We did not get a welcome or even a hello. Before I could open my mouth to say we are here for a reservation, the hostess told me my outfit doesn t meet their policy as shorts aren t allowed. I was dressed in a very expensive (old money style) pleated shorts and vest. I responded with are you kidding me, these aren t daisy dukes shorts . She responded with nope, while females were walking out with mini skirts and sneakers. Luckily the assistant manager (lovely gentleman, unsure of his name) short male, dark complexion) was passing by and caught the conversation. He immediately apologized, grabbed the menus and walked us to our table. The same hostess brought our menus and was unpleasant, still. Ironically she was wearing dirty green combat boots. I ve been to Chairman s 5 times now and that hostess always has a smug look on her face. I can t believe a high end restaurant would retain such an unprofessional worker considering they are the first person their clients interact with.

Parking: Most of the parking are signed as a visitor ChAIRMANS parking stall. Once there they are some parking paying machine but just go inside and register your car for free at the host Food

It wasn t the first time but the consistency of excellent service made me go for a review. The Chairman s offers an exceptional dining experience with its luxurious ambiance and expertly prepared steaks. My 16oz Ribeye, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, was tender, juicy, and full of rich flavor. The whiskey sauce and the sides were excellent compliment. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, with the staff ensuring that every aspect of our meal was top-notch. The wine selection was impressive, and the dessert with Thai Dragon coffee was the perfect finish. For anyone seeking a top-tier steakhouse experience in Calgary, this is a must-visit.

A steak house that believes they are super classy....all the servers seem like they just finish their training from moxis or something. There r much better place to enjoy a nice steak with the service that you willing to tip for.

Brian provided exceptional service. We ordered a Smoked Ribeye medium rare but it came well done. The restaurant promptly fired up a new one and did not charge us for both even though the second one came perfect. Havent seen this policy anywhere else.

If you end up here in the evening on the lounge side make sure you stay INSIDE the restaurant. This is the third time that my party has taken a seat on the patio where we have been forgotten about. One time.. okay, two times sure but three? Seems to be a guarantee at this point that you will be forgotten about. Took 20 minutes and a walk inside to find a server asking if we could order drinks. Then took 20 minutes to get our drinks, but not all drinks were brought to the table. After 40 minutes hoping to order food, I ended up cancelling my drink order (that never showed up) and decided against dinner. The food is amazing. The staff inside are fantastic! if you stay inside.

It s the best steakhouse in Calgary. The cocktails are on point and modern. The steaks are as expected (perfect). The sides steal the show. Service is always top shelf as well.

The service is top-notch, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is great. I ordered the medium tenderloin steak; it was tender and not dry. If you dont like fatty meat, this is a good choice for you. The fries were a bit over-salted, but the rest of the food was also tasty.

I have dined in at this exquisite restaurant on a handful of occasions but I must say that I am never disappointed. The service was great, location was nice, food was amazing. There s tons of parking in the heated underground garage (complimentary for up to 2 hours I believe) that makes it super convenient. Despite the amazing experience that my gf and I had in the dining room, we had just as good of an experience on the patio (they also have heaters in case it s a bit cold or windy outside. The only thing that I would comment on is the wait times for entrees, but I guess that you can t rush perfection. Definitely going to be returning for many more occasions! Between Chairman s Steakhouse, Vintage Chophouse and Caesar s Steakhouse, you can t go wrong with any of them!

Went here for our 10 year anniversary. Had an amazing experience. Love the place and the atmosphere. The food was delicious. Will be back for the next big day.

We had a very memorable experience here last Fathers Day

Very nice and fancy place that surves amazing steaks. We tried the shrimps as appetizers and then had steaks. Amazing. The side mashed potato is my choice between the sides we tried. The atmosphere was so classy and special and the staff were so friendly and professional.

A very disappointing experience. Visited on a Saturday night with my elderly parents who were on their last trip from England, thought wed go somewhere a little bit special. Arrived on time only to be told that theyve changed their policy and you can no longer dine in the restaurant if wearing shorts (it was a warm day and we were in smart shorts and shirts). When making a reservation via open table there was absolutely no mention of a dress code. Only later when we looked at the fine print terms and conditions on the email confirmation did we see this mentioned. Seriously who reads the fine print when making a dinner reservation? They did allow us to dine in the lounge but it was not the experience I wanted it to be. They also had the audacity to tell us they wouldnt charge the cancelation fee if we switched to the lounge!! The food was ok, although 1 of the steaks was overcooked. Id say the only exceptional part of the night was our server Evalina, she was awesome! Cant see ill come back to chairmans again.

It is usually my favourite stake house in town. As I arrived at 16:30 dressed pretty nice I was made aware that I will have to be at the lounge as there is a no ripped jeans policy. There was only one server there took and we were first to arrive. It took 30 minutes until we were asked if we are ready to order. I have no refill of water and overall just didn t matched the amount of money we spent there. Deeply disappointed as I am a usual customer and talked highly of the place.

Review under false name - had dinner last night. Food and atmosphere was perfect, very enjoyable. Did not say it was my birthday until the end when one of the group said the birthday boy could finish the wine - I was given a free desert. Service - some improvement, we had wine, first glass pored, then wine removed, meal was finished without any top up, waitress disappeared and other staff only focused on their tables, so the second glass of wine was after our meal, strange. Free desert - very generous, just remember to not add it to our bill! We spotted it and it was removed, not a big deal. Both of these for me come under attention to detail.

Just got back from the place. The food was amazing, The 3 of us had a good time. BUT the service was poor. Our server was Whitney. Not sure if its because it was because of the date night special or the kitchen was too busy or maybe something else, honestly cant tell. Felt like it started great but as the night progressed, it went downhill. We had to pour our own water, wait more than 30mins for someone to come and take drinks order, and when we complained about a fly in one or glass, she just laughed it off and made it seem like it was our fault. It was my first time and probably the last. The other guys said they have had better experience in the past, but this was definitely sub par.

We ate in the bar. Arrived for happy hour food and cocktails so excellent value. Food is always good and staff are friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.

Been there couple times but still one of my favourite steak house even it s a bit of a drive. Great service and generous portion. The 14 oz ribeye with cauliflower was tasty but will try others on the menu next time. Salted caramel crème s brûlée is a must try

I have been to some nice and upscale places in Calgary. Chairman s has blown every single one out of the park. The food is the best I ve ever had, the service (Whitney) was personable, lovely and attentive. We will be going back there. The atmosphere was amazing, the decor and vibe Out of this world. Recently experienced Chairmans for the first time and it was fantastic. The service was very professional, and the Wednesday deal is a ton of food for the price. We ended up taking the dessert home because we just couldnt manage it all. The parking is also great. Covered and plenty of spots available close to the entrance. Parking: Parking is included with your visit.

First of all the manager was rude and defensive On a reservation. The date night meal $110.00 , steak wasn t steak seemed like a slab of very fatty prime rib that was bbq. Came out rare even though asked for med well. I think your best deal is still the classic dinners at the Keg.

It was decent all in, however the cut off meat we received was over 40% fat. It was cooked well and seasoned plainly. The meat was great, where it was meat. The mashed potatoes were great, the macaroni was ok. The service we had with Whitney was excellent! All in all, we didnt find it to be worth the price tag, but it was a nice experience.

Delicious food, amazing service, really beautiful atmosphere. Theres an outside patio that looks out into the lake. We had the Wagyu flight, Ribeyes, scallop , Ceasar salad, fries and crispy cauliflower. All were very delicious! I love steak so Im surprised I didnt come here sooner

We can no longer dine here due to their new discriminatory policy against children, which directly impacts new parents and nursing mothers. It certainly wouldn t be acceptable to discriminate against other people groups but for some reason it s okay to do so against people under 10 years of age. Kid-friendliness: They do not allow kids or even sleeping, nursing infants, which means many parents are now not able to partake in fine dining. It s a sad day when restaurants (originally intended for families to go out for a meal) now don t allow families.

I would give more than 5 stars if possible. We went to Chairmans on a recomendation from some friends of ours a couple months ago. Been back 3/4 times since then. Love the dress code, music (The chairman of the board) and design. Ive been specifically looking for a place like this for years. A proper old school dining experience. The closest I can think of would be Hys, and Hys atmosphere and service doesnt come close. Food 5 out of 5 Service 5 out of 5 Atmosphere 5 out of 5 I generally go with the aged ribeye, but we did the tomhawk last time we went and it was unreal. My wife and I decided this is the place for all celebrations moving forward, as any thing else would just be disappointing.

So much potential, server was great, food was ok. I had dress shorts on and was dressed for a nice evening on the patio with a collared shirt. I was not allowed to come in, my party was sat without me and they would not be given menus until I returned with pants. The outgoing messages and voicemail notes changes to the dress code and references, sweats, ripped jeans and children. Nothing regarding shorts on the patio. Very elitist and stuck up vibe. I used to be a regular when I lived out here and am disappointed with the turn its taken. Some of the bread tasted freezer burnt, steak was good, sides were warm- cold.

This just became my favourite restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing, as was the entire staff. Not just a meal, it was an experience. And thank you Dany for the extra touch tonight.
