Established in 1989, Thai Sa-On has been known as one of the best Restaurants in the city. Sam Chanhao introduced delicious Thai Food to Calgarians long before Thailand was a popular tourist destination. He also wanted to make everyone feel like a Royal when dining at Thai Sa-On and his idea of serving Thai Food with Fine Wine has made Thai Sa-On become outstanding in the restaurant industry. Over 30 years of serving authentic Thai Cuisine, we now offer a wide variety of Bangkok Street Food favorites, Vegetarian and Gluten Free menu items too. We also offer Catering service for business's and private events citywide. Large group reservations such as birthday parties, team meetings, retirement parties are welcome as well.
Did a takeout order for pad see ew. Taste - 2/5 Portion - 2/5 The noodles used were not pad see ew but the thinner pad Thai noodles. The broccoli was also large chunks so it wasn’t fully steamed through and overall it was lacking the actual flavours that are in the dish. The portion was also very small. Didn’t fill me up. Overall I’d say Thai express has bettter consistency and has good tasting pad see ew. Or even a few other local Thai places where quality and quantity don’t miss. Service was good however and perhaps some other dishes they have are better.
The only Thai food place I would go to when in Calgary. As soon as I land, I always go straight to Thai Sa On! Fast and friendly and reasonable, but best of all, the food is so great! Until next time!
My first experience with this restaurant was just randomly ordering Uber delivery with them and guess what? The food was amazing!!! It made me to search on Google maps and come & check it out in person. And here you go: nice location in downtown, amazing interior design, very friendly and welcoming staff. It was a great choose to have a dinner before attending a Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra concert. We’ll be back for sure!
As Thai food connoisseurs , me and my partner are always looking for best Thai food in town and I’m pleased to report that we have found our new favourite restaurant. We were told it’s been there at the same location for over 30 years and can’t believe we waited this long to go there! Service was excellent, non alcoholic Mai Thai to cashew chicken, penang curry with tofu, pad Thai with chicken were scrumptious and mouth watering even to think of. We were thinking of having sticky rice with mango but it was not available, so we were able to have banana flambé with coconut ice cream. That was out of this world! I cannot wait to go and enjoy more amazing food again!
Thai Sa-On was an incredible treat! Authentic Thai food in the heart of downtown Calgary. The coconut rice was sticky and had tons of flavour. The Tom Yum soup was sweet & sour and had some tasty veggies inside. My favorite thing I ate had to be the drunken noodles, they were soft and had a tasty chili flavour, and the chicken was cooked amazingly. The green curry was also a hit. This restaurant is priced very fairly, so you can try lots of things. I can’t wait to come back!
⭐️ Their mango sticky rice is a bit small, but it’s sooo yummy. ordered coconut juice($6) -4.5/5 as it was just a drink that you can but on the shelves. Follow @tastybitesyyc -instagram if you are looking for the honest foodie😊
Wow wow wow. This was pure Heaven! Not just the atmosphere and the service but the food was literally one of the best meals we had in our life! We ordered two tofu dishes and one meat dish plus dessert. Everything was divine. 100% recommended. We shall treat ourselves there every time we visit Calgary.
Recently dined at this Thai restaurant and was impressed by the delicious food and the beautifully decorated ambiance. The flavors were fantastic, and the restaurant's interior added to the overall dining experience. However, I must mention that parking was a bit challenging, which may be inconvenient for some visitors. Despite this, if you're a fan of excellent Thai cuisine and a well-designed atmosphere, this place is worth a visit. Just be prepared for a potential parking hassle.
Food is good! Service was great, cool little spot downtown!
The absolute best Thai food ever!
Dish we enjoyed the most was the cuttlefish
Great food and services all the time. Authentic Thai food in Calgary. I ve been here to dine in several times and ordered online on Uber Eats yesterday. Food was great but I just want to let the owner know that you should change the sauce cup or put it outside in the bag as I ordered special house fried rice and when it comes to me, the sauce cup had melted plastic as shown in the picture, probably due to the heat from the rice and you put the sauce box in the rice box so the heat melted it.
The food was exceptional! We ordered the pin wheels, green curry, Thai soup and pad Thai. The restaurant is decorated traditionally, you almost feel as if you re in Thai land. If only the servers wore traditional outfits! All in all, Great Thai food downtown, highly recommend!
Inconsistent quality. Chick wings are tough. Price is high for the size of soups. Food
I tried their Panang Curry, Drunken Noodles and Pad Thai. Great Food, Service and Ambience!
Restaurant is clean. Decor is nice. I had the hot and sour soup, drunken noodles, coconut rice with chu chi fish. Food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
First time after ownership change . Menu has changed . Chicken skewers were dry . Both soups tom yum and tom kha had same kinda base with coconut milk . The drunken noodles which I used to dream about tasted so bad . No more fresh rice noodles . Definitely instant noodles and didnt have the thai fried rice from before either . Thr sticky rice was blue and was below average . Never minded paying a little more as food was worth it. But paying 140$ for the meal we had was not at all worth it. Will not return.
I love this restaurant, the food consistently tastes amazing, the service is great, and it has a lovely ambience. Thank you to all who work so hard there, you make this reviewer super happy!!!
Delicious Thai food and fast service.
Had an amazing dinner here with a group of friends, the food and service was incredible! My favourite was the Tom Yum Soup and Masaman Curry! Mai tai drinks were delicious as well. Will definitely be back to see Pat and Miranda :)
Wow. Went for dinner here tonight and I was blown away by the service and the authenticity of every dish. My friends and I got a bunch of different dishes to share and they were all mouth watering and had so much flavour. Presentation on point, cocktails were great as well. I definitely recommend the wontons and the curry dishes, we had a red curry with beef and a green chicken curry. Masaman with beef was my favourite. Those ones stuck out the most to me. Finished off the night with the banana flambé with coconut ice cream, also amazing. 10/10 will be going back!
1. Fish was over fried and too hard to eat 2. Roti was also heavily battered and fried. It was impossible to eat it 3. Thai red curry chicken was watery and tasteless This restaurant will close down soon since they take short cut in their food preparation by frying everything.
Great Thai food. Red curry was deeeelishh!!! The ingredients were fresh and light. Absolutely delightful. My coworker ordered the Chicken Pinwheels, and she absolutely loved them. The service and people were great.. so is the ambiance! Highly recommended!
The food is amazing. Very authentic and the servers are so sweet and fast.
Super hospitable, food came out fast and tasted perfect
This place always maintains the same level of service and food. One of the best in Calgary!
So I end up going to this restaurant after reading reviews. Everything was fine until they happened to bring one order not up to standard or not exactly the way how it should be (pad ke mao )but we end up eating it as me n my family was traveling n hungry but I wanted to ask the server about the order that was it a mistake or that s the order was supposed to be made . So all they said that the cook made a mistake n they are sorry about it n will offer 10%. They so know that we were not dining there for discount.
Awful food. The worse Thai food you can buy in YYC. Avoid this place. Don t pay any heed to positive reviews as those people haven t tasted real Thai food. Even Thai express is better than this.
Amazing food and services...the best in YYC! I think I know Thai food...as I am 100% born and raised Thai!!!
Not great, not terrible
The Pad Thai is so good
Best restaurant in the city! Mer and korine were the best
Karrin and Merv and goated. 10/10 would recommend.
Best restaurant we ve been to in Calgary! Merve and Karrin have the best hospitality!! Would recommend trying this restaurant!! 100/10!!
I dont like Thai food, or so I thought until I went here. Really great food, nice, laid back ambience. I enjoyed the Papaya Salad and the Cashew Chicken especially. Highly reccommended - maybe if you dont like Thai food, you should give this place a try, too.
Went here on Mothers Day and it was surprisingly not full. The service was amazing and the server was super nice. I ordered a parang curry with jasmine rice. It was very flavourful and appetizing. The rice portion is quite big! The decor of this place is very nice as well.
The food was fabulous! The service and atmosphere were fantastic as well. The Pad Kra Pow dish was very good and highly recommended for those who like a little spice!!
Had the green curry, crying tiger, pandan chicken, and papaya salad. All were good but the Crying Tiger was awesome. The papaya salad had a 1 chili pepper rating but I found it the spiciest
Amazing service, really cool decor, and delicious food! Will definitely be back!
I think I found my destination spot. Ever since my mom passed away I would look forward to going to Thailand to experience authentic Thai cooking, but Thai Sa-On brings that to Calgary. I took take out and regret not staying, the servers were kind and friendly and the chef came out to check greet us and check on us... For take out! The papaya salad, crying tiger, and drunken noodles were some of the best I had and its all due to the chefs being Thai, and their mission to bring their home to their new home. I cant wait to be back!
My boyfriend and I just stopped here for dinner after being turned away from another restaurant and im not upset in the slightest! To say they made our night after being disappointed is an under statement. We came in and were greeted with a smile right away, and offered a seat while we looked over the menu and made our choices. We were also offered water and a beverage. The restaurant has the authentic atmosphere with traditional artwork and bamboo sprawling all throughout the large dining room. The server gave us the perfect amount of time to take it all in and decide, took our orders and swiftly went on her way. The chef came out and had a chance to greet the guests while they were enjoying their dinner, and made sure everyone was satisfied. She came and greeted us and right after our food was delivered to our table and we were thanked for our order. Our food was amazing, i ordered the drunken noodles and my boyfriend ordered the papaya salad and crying tiger. They were full of flavour and fresh and spicy and just delicious. This was some of the best food I ve eaten in Calgary. We are definitely going back!
Ive been to Bangkok many times eating local food - and their green curry has been as close to the original that it gets. The service was outstandingly friendly! If youre in for Thai food, heres your place to go.
Great food and great service. Crying Tiger was my favourite dish.
I enjoyed it
This is one of the best restaurants I ate in Calgary in a veeery long time.
The first time we came here, we told the waitress we may just have to move to Calgary so we can come here again! We moved here about 6 months later and couldnt wait to come in to say hi. All the food is delicious. The restaurant has a great ambiance, and the service is very welcoming.
One of the best Thai food I have had in Calgary or Toronto. Very authentic Ordered the Tom Yum Soup, Salad rolls and the Pad Thai. Perfect balance of flavours!
This was pretty good Thai food. Seemed authentic enough but not outstanding. The service was very good. It probably helped that we came early. My main opportunity comment is that the place didn t smell fresh. It was kind of like a floor drain had backed up somewhere.
What a difference a year make. Same time last Year, my friends and I went there for lunch. Food and service was mediocre at best. Today, we gave it another try and it was great. Food was flavorful, authentic and delicious. Thumbs up to the new owner. Well be back.
I used to really like this restaurant but I ordered take out tonight and was really disappointed. While the quality of the food was fine, the portions were so small I felt really ripped off. For the price point I expected larger portions. Further, the portions didn t even match the pictures on UberEats. For example, the house fried rice depicted way more shrimp than what was included in our order. I also ordered two mango rice desserts and the rice was undercooked so we ate hard grains embedded in a hard lump. We won t be ordering or eating at this restaurant again, despite it once being my go-to for Thai cuisine.
First time here, they have amazing service and hospitality. The atmosphere is great and the food was delicious! We couldn t stop eating and ended up ordering too much!
Lovely little spot with a very comfortable environment. Food tastes great and service was attentive and caring!
Ordered appy s that they claimed they didn t understand we wanted. Our mains then came and we said we didn t get our appy s and we had no plates or cutlery. They took away our food, brought us dishes, brought us back the same food, which was now cold. Then 20 minutes later our appy s show up. No apologies, nothing comped on the bill. We were a group of 6 so they automatically charged us 18% gratuities. Food was fine, but not nearly as good as before ownership change. Cashew chicken was deep fried. Will not be going back! De Thai in Marda Loop and Thai Nongkhai on Macleod Trail is WAY better!
The food was great, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was charming. Maybe my only complaints are that the dishes that are labeled as spicy arent spicy enough and the nearby street parking is very limited. We would definitely eat here again.
Chef Patchurin s food is scrumptious. I love the Drunken Prawns especially. I appreciate that you can mix and match proteins with 5 famous Thai curries. Service is attentive, friendly and professional. The art collection is awesome. Tip: pay the corkage fee and take your own great white wine or just enjoy Thai Singha beer with the food. Vegetarian options: Chef Patch also accommodates vegans
Enjoyed a relaxing dinner here. Started with the Spring Rolls and then the Drunken Noodles which were great! Service was wonderful!! Look forward to my return.
Great Food. Nice location. Absolutely worth visiting when in Calgary.
Awesome flavors.
Awesome Thai food. Authentic.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxed and the staff were very friendly. I had the Tilapia and the veggie delight, both were delicious. I will definitely return to try more from the menu.
My bf and me were there for dinner. The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxed and the staff were very friendly. Food were delicious. We will definitely return to try more from the menu.
Trash food , both of us got sick afterwards
The chicken fried rice and pad thai was lukewarm and tasteless. Only 4 shrimp come with the pad thai. Wouldnt recommend those dishes.
My girlfriend and I picked up food here on the weekend as our favourite spot was closed that day(Thai Bistro) and I must say we were quite disappointed. Perhaps because the place we usually pick up Thai from is that much better. Here is why: 1. Food itself wasn t up to par. We got the coconut soup and Pad See Ew like we always do and the former didn t live up to the expectations and the latter was too sweet. 2. Portions. The soup was less than half the container. Pad See Ew felt like a kids sized. 3. Price. We usually get a lot bigger orders from our usual spots for a much cheaper price. Thai food tends to be quite cheap and when we saw the prices we thought that the portions would justify them - but they did not. Honestly I hate to write bad reviews but we were quite disappointed overall and will not be coming back.
Wonderful atmosphere with great service. Beautiful decor. Excellent food to match. Vegetarian options: Great options
I had given up on finding good Thai food in Calgary. I was whinging about this woe and somebody said Have you tried the place on the corner of 4th & 10th?. Oh my goodness. If youre looking amazing flavours, authentic dishes, then swing by. Seriously, the best Thai food in Calgary.
Best thai restaurant!!
Would give negative rating if I could for customer service. I was given the wrong bill and over charged for my meal. I amit it was my fault for not catching it when I was there. However I attempted to call back immediately during opening hrs once I noticed and took me 30mins to get through and was hung up on twice in the process. When I finally spoke to someone they were unable to help and told me to call back on Monday in which I did and agian immediate help was denied due to we are too busy atm, we will call you back in the afternoon. It is now 230 and I notice the restaurant closes in between for break and doesnt reopen till 5. No call back has been made
Pad thai with shrimps is just a noodles with shrimp, taste even not close to pad thai. Tom yum was transparent, but it should not be like this. Soup portions are tiny. Not fear previous reviews.
Nice and cozy place
Had some food to share as we weren t too hungry. Food was delicious! Service was awesome! Food came fast! And the jade flowers are just so cute. Very happy overall!
Good food in downtown Calgary. The restaurant is clean and the food service is quick. We got green curry and Masaman curry with coconut rice for the main course. Even though both were good, we preferred Green curry. Fried rice is good as well. In appetizers Chicken Satay and spring rolls is definitely worth trying. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. All curries can be made with tofu
If the shop use thin noodle for the pho will be more delicious
we went recently to this restaurant and ordered Bang bang Shrimp/Pineapple fried rice & Green Curry portion is less compared to price and no taste in food. never ate so bland pineapple fried rice and ironically no pineapple in it. green curry portion is too less .
Great food, services and beautiful ambience! The same owners as the highly rated Pad Thai on 4 St. NW.
The place is beautiful but the food could be better. My green curry was not the best. Felt like something was missing. The pad thai was good, but the shrimp had no flavor. Its like they just added boiled shrimp on a pad thai. Chicken skewers were pretty good. I dont know if I just ordered the wrong foods. Calgary doesnt have good thai places so I cant complain much.
Good food, great ambiance!
Chicken was one of the best ever
Very nice place with friendly waitresses who really care about their customers. They immediately welcomed us when we walked into the restaurant, kept filling our glasses of water whenever needed and showed lots of kindness. The place was very clean, the food was good and the service was fast. Definitely recommended!
Very good food, great service. We lived in Asia and used to go to Bangkok fairly often and this is up there with the best Thai food we have ever had outside Thailand. Highly recommended.
One of the best pad Thai I have had since bing in Thailand . This is going to be a regular visit. Thank you saphora (sorry I know I will have spelt your name incorrectly and I apologize) for looking after us.
Super good food. Tried 2 dishes that were not our usual ones and they were delicious. Excellent service and relaxing atmosphere.
I took two of my friends for lunch today, everything was so good. Best foods and services in town. Thank you
The best drunken noodles I ve ever had! Definitely check this out
authentic Thai food , restaurant is well decorated and clean. I did order drunken pawns and drunken noodles (I like spicy food),Pad Thai is another dish that recommend if you have been to Thailand you know what I m talking about. It kind of hard to find authentic Thai food in Calgary and this place is the one. Also service is very good as well, definitely will be back again and again. Thanks chefs Patchi for very delicious meal.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant. Food is authentic and loves the atmosphere here. My family loves to dine here.
Amazing food! Definitely will be coming back soon! And Sephora the waitress is really nice, great service.
Food and service was top notch. Our server was Sephora (yes like the store). She was really nice but struggled to open my fruit jelly dessert.
What a fantastic catch to find this place in Downtown. Excellent delicate flavors. Highly recommended. (Hint of southern Thai flavors . Something we don t have in Montreal). Food
Excellent food and good service. Not as much wine choice as we had thought but ok
Very disappointing experience at Thai Sa-On. We had a reservation at 6:30 and were promptly seated. After approximately 10 minutes, we were asked if we wanted drinks while we waited for the rest of our party. I tried to order a domestic beer and was informed that they did not, in fact, have the beer that was on the menu. We then asked for the wine menu. Our friends arrived, and we ordered an appetizer and a bottle of wine. Our appetizer came, but still no drinks. Shortly thereafter, someone came by to say they didnt have the wine wed ordered, and before we could order a different bottle, she disappeared. We waited longer and still no drink order. At this point, wed been sitting for 45 minutes. We had not been able to successfully order drinks or dinner. We decided to bail and go elsewhere. I asked for the bill, was not offered any compensation for the poor service, paid and left. Thai SaOn used to be my favorite Calgary Thai restaurant, and I am sad to say I will not be back.
A great meal and service.
Really great food with super friendly staff. Im not a fan of the full menu but what I do like is very well prepared.
Such a beautiful experience!!! The food: super authentic and very tasty. We had the Jacky Chan, Pad Thai, green curry and swimming sth..cant remember the exact name. But all of it was delicious. The dessert really surprised me! Very yummy: sweet roti, sticky rice with mango and coconut ice cream with fried banana. The owner was the highlight of the night! He came and talked to us, told us old stories about how he came to Canada and gave us history about Thailand and Buddhism. So interesting! I feel so enriched after my dinner tonight all over: inside my stomach, my mind and heart!! Best Thai Restaurant I have been too so far!
The food is amazing at Thai Sa-On. The interior of the restaurant is exquisite and the service is excellent. Unfortunately, I parked my truck in the parking space behind the restaurant in the back alley (allocated for Thai Sa-On) and someone keyed the drivers side of the vehicle including the back panel, passengers door and drivers door ($4000.00 damage). Sadly their security cameras behind the building are not working. Be sure not to park behind the alley.
We are vegan and had red and green curry with coconut rice. Overall it was pretty good. Sauce is less thick, which I like. Coconut rice and green curry could be a bit sweeter for my preference. Best I ve had in Calgary. Went Saturday, it was busy and only one server. Very nice but understaffed for how busy they were (didn t take our drink order, provided water upon seating, make sure you order a drink right away). Made for a longer than necessary dining experience. Authentic decor and great atmosphere!!
This place is a hidden gem near National pub. The is is the first time I ve been to a restaurant in Canada where they actually had an ambience and decor that looked carefully selected and unique. The hospitality and the food was amazing too. Would highly recommend to anyone craving a Thai meal and great service. Will be back here for sure
This is one of my favourite places for Thai food in Calgary. The food is always super delicious and the ambiance is just cherry on top (or I d say chilly on top). We went there on a busy Friday evening and asked if they could split two dishes into meat and without meat (as I am vegetarian). They said they will try. We had to wait a little but longer but they fulfilled our request. The food was totally worth the wait. The staff is super friendly and try their best to make the customers happy. If you re vegetarian, don t hesitate to ask them to replace chicken with tofu. They re super nice.
Try their Pad Thai and black pepper fish! It was really good We also got the red and green curry but I didnt enjoy those as much. It was a bit too spicy for me and the chicken was kind of tough Loved all the Thai artwork hanging in the restaurant as well!
Let me start with the good. The ambiance of this place is very nice, looks like a very relaxing place and the vibes are great. The server was very attentive and kind too. Oh and the Thai Ice Tea tastes great as well! Now for the not-so-good: The chef messed up my roti, pretty bad. I ordered a roti with ice cream on top; what I got is the roti bread with no banana nor condensed milk, just ice cream inside!!! I dont know how the chef could have possibly thought that Id like the banana and condensed milk replaced with ice cream, but it was terrible. I was surprised at the end to see that the bill says: $8 for roti and $5 for ice cream... Like that terrible mess of an icecream ball inside fried bread actually cost me $13. The cashew chicken was also too spicy, even though the menu only shows one ; cashew chicken is one of my favorite dishes of all time and I never had it this spicy from any other restaurant before. To be fair, my experience was ruined because of the roti mess up, if it were only for the spicy cashew chicken, I would have given it 5 stars and ordered less spicy cashew chicken next time. So Im giving it 3 stars for now.
Very interesting decor inside the restaurant. Good was pretty good, highly recommend the Black Pepper Fish and the Pad Thai. The curries were just okay.
Tasty food, on the pricy side, service was good, ambience was inviting, English of servers could be better but was sufficient with a little effort.
Great Thai food.
Delicious food and lovely decor! The staff are super friendly too...I dont understand why theyre not busier.
You can never go wrong and get tired of eating here. I have been to Thailand many times and this restaurant by far is the closest you will ever be to Thai food in Calgary. Some of the fusion dishes really set this restaurant apart: crying tiger, stuffed chicken wings and the fried rice is my favourite. The hosts are super friendly and the service is amazing
Pad Thai was excellent - great service!
Delicious food and very friendly owner. Great place.
Very nice food and ambience. We tried the pad Thai and cashew chicken both of which were very flavorful. We also got the fried banana dessert with ice cream and the owner was generous enough to give us an extra piece as we were 3 sharing our dessert. The owner is very humble and friendly.
Super yummy and authentic tasting food. Decently priced, as well! :) Paid $35 for two people. Not bad, Id say.
Great people, food, and ambiance. What more can you ask for
So flavorful, so delicious nice treat before Stampede, pancakes and BBQ
Open for lunch again. Such delicious food!
Amazing Thai food!! We had satay chicken skewers, stuffed boneless chicken wings, golden rolls, chicken pad Thai and masman curry with shrimp. WOW wow WOW amazing flavors. Beautiful decor and great service. Highly recommend you try this place!!! I will be back!!!
By far the best Thai food I have had in a very long time. We enjoyed the decor, the handcrafted plates and most of all the delicious food!
Nice ambience. Great food! The tom yum soup was refreshing! Spicy basil Fried rice and spring roll was tasty as well! Spicy basil beef was little bit on sweeter side! The only thing they can improve is the portion size compared to price! Otherwise great experience!
Food was great. Server was the only one and stretched. They should have more staff on a Saturday. They also do not offer cocktails e.g Sangria. Service was compromised due to one server. It was a birthday occasion. Not even a free scope of ice cream was offered even though I mentioned 2 times our reason for being at the restaurant.
I have enjoyed lunches at Thai Sa-On for years. Great food and atmosphere with friendly attentive staff. Recently redecorated.
fantastic food! came two days in a row. Next time I am in town I will definitely be eating here. The Panang curry is to die for.
Amazing food, pad see ew and green curry are excellent dishes here!
Not everyone likes the smell, but I still quite like it
This is the best pad Thai in Calgary. I appreciate the server telling me 45 minutes because there was a lot of big parties but it was obvious they took care of the big parties more. If it seems too full you can consider coming back another time.
Favorite lunch in Calgary, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is very quiet.
We went to this place randomly on a weekend . Ambience of the place is really nice but of you sit at the other half after entering it looks a bit old and not being cleaned up properly. Really loved paintings on the walls . Coming to the food we ordered Tom Yum and Tom kha soups which were really nice . Enough portion for each. The spring rolls were also nice . The staff were really helpful
I tried this restaurant this month. Great taste, great service and reasonably priced. 100% recommended.
Authentic thai food
Thai food was amazing, just like I remembered from Thailand, and the service was exceptional, constantly checking, and refilling our water. I will be back to this restaurant.
Food was amazing Great 35 anniversary My wife and I enjoyed all dishes
My favourite restaurant in Calgary. So delicious and fresh. Sam is great with his wine recommendations. Swimming Rama is a favourite dish.
Quality has changed
The green curry is the best with coconut rice!
Food was good fresh and taste and servise was excellent
Good quality food and fresh but too oily and also too small portions compared to other thai places in YYC!
Most poorly managed restaurant I have ever ordered from. We ordered and an hour later they canceled our order because they were too busy. By the time we found out it was too late to order anywhere else. We have also had issues with inconsistent food quality - sometimes too spicy, sometimes different ingredients. They are just a fiasco. Skip this one and try another place.
Rude staff..make no mistake to waste youre money on this establishment..
Upscale thai food, delicious
Traviled from Edmonton to Calgary and had dinner here and it was a wonderful experience, The interior was amazing. The food was by far the best Thai food Ive had. The server was great, and the owner was very friendly we had a nice chat while waiting on our food, and always made sure we where having a good time. Would recommend this place to everyone.
Delicious food especially the Masamman curry with coconut rice. Great Thai food options in downtown.
So delicious and beautiful decorations.
Great flavours, very unique. Dine in experience was the best part, loved the decor!
Loved the food and the service! Owner is extremely friendly and suggested good food choices
Amazing culinary experience at Thai Sa-On last week for a special occasion with my mom. We enjoy Thai food immensely and both said this might be the best weve ever had! The food was delicious and per the photo of our appetizer, very creatively prepared. The service from both Tan and Sammy was first class, and we also really loved the authentic Thai vibe and decor. Highly recommend - you will not be dissapointed!
Absolutely delicious food, beautiful ambiance and interiors and the owner and the staff are wonderful people. We had a top notch experience and will be back.
Amazing place. And Sam is one of the best servers Ive ever had. Food was great and the place had an amazing vibe. This place is a must see.
Great Thai food. but we did wait over an hour after ordering to be served. We asked to see a wine menu, but were told to just tell the server what we liked and he would pick something out. While the wine selected was nice, I would prefer to select one myself and know how much I am paying before being served.
Delicious, spicy authentic thai food!! You can get it as hot as you can handle!!
Great Thai food
Best drunken noodles ever !!!!
Best Thai food Ive ever had. Love it!
Great authentic atmosphere! Food was amazing too.
good food and service
Times are wrong it closes at 10pm not 11.
Nice cosy restaurant. Excellent Thai food with just the right amount of spice on a cold winters night.
Best Thai foods ever !! We having our wedding here soon love the foods and atmosphere with all the coolest Arts.
Their chicken Pad Thai is the best. The basil fried rice and spring rolls were equally amazing. The staff is very welcoming and the customer service is great. Thai sa-on restaurant is definitely recommended to people looking for good Thai food in Calgary downtown.
Modest prices for modest quality. I went there with my partner to talk about the future of our company by accident
Amazing authentic Thai food! My wife and I have lived in Thailand, and this is the real deal. Great way to celebrate our 25th Anniversary!
Amazing food. The place looks so good inside!!
Awesome food with great service! My family often come here and it is always a good experience.
Wonderful decor, excellent food ( try #57) and great service. Really nice place!
The decor, aesthetics, hospitality and food all score a perfect 10. The lighting in the restaurant is apt and soothing, the tranquil portraits of Buddha inspire calm and harmony, the polite and humble staff epitomise service towards each customer, and the food is outstanding.
The spring rolls are always excellent! I found it a bit understaffed as the place started to fill up. The food tasted great though!
Super Authentic Thai food and friendly service.
I hate to give this restaurant a poor review, because the food was delicious. The service was the worst weve ever experienced. Our server didnt speak English well. I assume he was a new server, because he didnt know how to make a Crown and Soda, so my partner ordered tea. Our server didnt have suppoer staff on a Friday night. There was an older man walking around, but he didnt serve any of the tables, he didnt clear dishes, fill water, or bring menus to new tables. We were asked if we wanted dessert, and all our dirty dishes were still on the table. We had to put our dirty dishes on the table next to us, as our dessert arrived to the table. I actually felt bad for the server, because he was really trying but didnt have any help. He was the only server on a Friday night. Hopefully the service improves for others.
Delicious food do much selection highly reccomend
Fantastic Thai restaurant. Get the #66 with coconut rice, it was amazing! Decor is really nice as well and service is great. Well be coming back again.
Excellent service, service only so-so
There are no bad choices here. The food is absolutely outstanding, amazing, and spectacular !!! My wife and I had dinner here for the first time tonight, after ordering from them while at home on 3-4 different occasions. Inside, the atmosphere is serene and welcoming. The decor is beautiful, with several unreal pieces of genuine Thai wood carvings on the walls. Our service tonight was exceptional and the overall bill was well below what is usually given to you in Calgarys over priced restaurants.
So good I ate here two days in a row! Once in and once takeaway. Nice atmosphere. The care they put into the food is obviously. Look at the carved garnish roses? Incredible! Dont come expecting it to taste like your favorite spot. Appreciate it as unique, different and spectacular! I love the pad Thai Jey with house made hot sauce on the side
Very good food, although it is pricy
Yummy thai food
Amazing thai food. Been coming here for a couple decades!
Best Thai food weve had !
The tofu appetizer is terrible. Other than that everything else was great
My favorite Thai restaurant I have ever eaten at. The peanut sauce is to die for. Highly recommend! The owner is extremely friendly and will occasionally ring the gong in celebration. Bar selections. The decor is absolutely stunning. The beautiful stone relief carvings are gorgeous. Authentic Thai style everything.
Best Thai restaurant in Calgary.
Best Thai food on the planet
Delicious food, outstanding Service and affordable prices!!!
Bill was all wrong miss a order and got extra charge in the end just took the bill n was told no cash on card was not impress
Food was delicious, but the portion sizes were pretty small. Went on a Tuesday evening and it was quiet, so the service was pretty quick.
Delicious thai food, plentiful portion. Extra charge for rice (most mains do not come with rice) but if you are not hungry, 1 order of rice may be enough for 2 people. Beautiful plates and ambiance. We ate crying tiger and green curry! Im still dreaming about them...
Outstanding food! Khao Soi is impossible to find in Calgary and they make it here. Its excellent! As is everything else Ive eaten at this restaurant.
Great food, speed and service! Highly recommend
Finally checked out this place which is rated as one of the best thai places in Calgary. We wanted to see how it measures up to our favorite thai restaurant (white elephant). Decor/ ambiance: the interior and decor are definitely better than white elephants. lots of authentic thai art and bamboo accents. Lots if space and was clean. Service was prompt we went on a slow night. The lady cute in her traditional thai clothing. Food: serving size was definitely smaller. The Tom yum goong was $6 and was for one person where as white elephants is good for 2 ppl and much more flavorful. The pad thai ($16)was also smaller and more sour than we like it with too much tamarind sauce. The khao soi ($16)was okay didnt really have anything to compare it to as it was the first time we tried it. The thai iced tea was really good ($6) We will be sticking with white elephant
Great food and Sammy is always so knowledgeable with his wines
Great food! Service was good. Its quiet
Delicious food! Would recommend to others!
All the vegtebales were totally fresh. The Papaya salad with fresh green papaya but no beans at all and the peanuts were not rusted. The pad Thai was great but more vegetables would make it perfect. They dont have chop sticks :(
Amazing authentic Thai food. Fantastic atmosphere. One of my all time favourite restaurants
Food is consistently amazing. Service is fantastic.
Great drunken noodles! Love it!
this is as good Thai food that i have had anywhere. We had four different dishes and two sets of spring roll appetizers. All were beautifully cooked and the amount of spiciness was adjusted for each one of us. Layers of subtle flavours - nothing overpowering; all fitting together. The staff was great, very efficient and attentive but not hovering. I hadnt been there for a while but i wont let that happen again.
Got the soup and basil chicken with rice. Bill was $26. Excellent taste but portion size is really small... About half of other restaurants. Im still hungry and Im a woman. For an adult male it might be a snack size portion...
Amazing food and great staff and atmosphere! Looking forward to eating there again!
Great food and atmosphere
Super yummy
This restaurant is beautifully decorated with Thai art and immediately sets the mood for a relaxed and enjoyable evening with friends. There is an extensive menu that included many of the Thai standards and a wide selection of items you might not expect. I highly recommend the crispy fish with house sauce! Service was friendly and efficiency, but not rushed. This is a great place for a wonderful Thai meal.
