Came here for its various gluten free choices. Only tried pataconwich beef. The flatten plantain is very interesting as an alternative for sandwich bread. They also sell frozen food, empanadas, beans, arepas, to take away.
Love this restaurant. I'm obsessed with the pataconwiches. I've been here a few times but it appears theyve recently expanded their menu a bit which is great. They also have lots of vegan options. Never been disappointed.
My friend Elizabeth was visiting from Australia, and her husband is Venezuelan, so we decided to have dinner at Heaven after spending some time at the Latin Festival. There were six in our group, so we were able to share quite a few of the menu items. We had the Pabellon Criollo, which is Venezuela's national dish, both the Prawn and Roasted Chicken Pataconwichs (recommended by TV Food Celebrity Guy Fieri), the Pabellon Arepas and the appetizer platter. For dessert, we tried the Alfajores, the Quesillo, and the Tres Leches Cake. Everything was terrific, and the service was great! According to Raul, the food is authentic Venezuelan fare, so this place is a treasure for Calgary. I already plan on returning with other friends to try more items from their menu. A special note: there are vegan options, and everything is gluten-free.
Really good, really filling too so good value but it was kind of...dry... we asked for hot sauce because we were just missing something and realized it was a sauce of some sort. Great option for gluten-free/dairy free or vegetarian diets! Will go back to try some of the other dishes :)
So delicious hit the spot. I had it for delivery. The plantain is so crispy and it is so full of flavour with the shredded beef and sauces on it , the Yuka with the cheese in the middle so good with the beef gravy
This place has amazing empanadas. So crispy outside and with delicious fillings. Definitely recommend. This restaurant was featured on tv show dives and diners. Prices ranges 19-23 per plate.
Updates (2024-06-27): You MUST try the frozen empanadas in their freezer! We got the black beans empanadas, baked them from frozen at 400F for 10 to 15 min, flip halfway. They were perfect! -- Previous review -- Cute little restaurant and marketplace. A hidden gem that's been around for 10 years. Great, friendly service, delicious, homestyle food. Check it out next time you are on 17 Ave!!!
100% Gluten free. Excellent service, very helpful. It was our first time trying this and it was amazing. We had pulled pork empanadas that were crispy, hot and avourful. And we shared hot chorizo and beef Arepa. They both had great flavour and are surprisingly filling! We will be coming back!
Probably the best gluten free place. My partner and I have been here many times and get their Tiramasu almost every month, a little disappointed they changed the size but glad the price reflects it. They did also get Guy fieri in and thats so cool, the new menu is good but I wish the gnocchi stayed. Still great options remain for dine in and at the market which is great if we just want to throw something in the oven at home. In the last year we have moved houses which convinetly put us about a block away from here. I would have never considered Venezuelan food before coming here a year ago and its one of our favorites now
A celiac s dream come true! Fully GF kitchen with fresh, tasty food. Don t miss the yuca fries with cilantro sauce as an appetizer. The staff is fast and accommodating. Our whole family loves dining here!
plantain replacement for buns is so delicious & healthy
I normally love food from Heaven, but the quality lately has hit or miss. The yuca fries were basically raw. one of the Apple Empanadas was burnt black and inedible, the other barely edible. On top of that, we found a piece of metal in our order, looks like part of a metal dish scrub pad. We are very disappointed. I hope the quality turns around.
The Pataconwich sandwich with fried plantain for the bread is out of this world! The pulled pork Pataconwich is my new comfort food, it s deeply satisfying and the yuca fries are delicious! Service is excellent as well, always friendly.
Great for relieving good times and food in Venezuela.
Some of the best gluten and dairy free food I have had in a long time!
I could eat the Cheese Empanadas every day Ive also really enjoyed the chicken quesadilla! Celiac heaven due to dedicated gluten free preparation. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free dedicated menu!
Excellent authentic experience!
Update 2024: Seems like the food quality is not as good as it used to be. The Yuca fries are often not cooked fully and hard and there just seems to be inconsistencies depending on what day and time you visit/order from. The food was amazing and the lady who appeared to be the owner was delightful. Great atmosphere. I will be back!
Gluten free empanadas seriously delicious Dietary restrictions: So much gluten free available Food : 5/5 |
We had brunch here and although the menu isnt huge I struggled to make up my mind as to what to eat! I went with racheros eggs (spelt incorrectly, sorry) and it was a light, fresh dish even with the black beans in there. The French press was perfect also. I ordered the Tiramisu but was let down by the crumbliness of it, but I still say 5 stars for the food. Dietary restrictions: Thankfully gluten-free
We ve been to Heaven restaurant a few times, and while we love the food, there s always something that makes us question going back, so I figured it s time to leave a review. The last time we dined in, it took over 40 minutes to get our food. We waited because we enjoy the food, but honestly, that s a long wait for arepas. The arepas and yuca fries are our favorite, the food is pretty tasty and the service is good, just slow. However, the prices are pretty steep for what you get. Today, we decided to order delivery. We tried to order pick up through the website and various food delivery apps, but it wasn t an option, so we ended up paying for delivery. At the restaurant, you usually get some chips with your arepa, but with the delivery, we only got the arepas. The size of the arepas is ok, but a hungry person could easily eat two, and at over $20 each with no sides (which I believe is pretty high for what it is), you re looking at more than $40 for two arepas. We ended up paying over $100 for five arepas, plus tax and delivery, which I believe is excessive. I don t mind paying for a good meal, but this doesn t feel worth the price. This will probably be the last time we eat there. Edit: The prices on their website are $18.50 to $21 per arepa, which is just $1.50 to $2.85 cheaper than using the delivery app. So yeah, I know I paid a bit more for delivery, but it s not a huge difference compared to picking it up or eating there. While I love supporting local businesses, I still believe prices are on the high end compared to what we received.
Brought in 4 adults and 2 small children for a meal. We each had an entree and the kids shared a quesadilla. Not one of us ate together. Took over 1 hour for everyone to get their food. Very disorganized and they served our meals but did not offer anything extra. We had to ask for water, ketchup and not one of our group had utensils. The food was fresh but lacking in flavour.4 of us had water and one had an ice tea and one had a soda water. When my husband went to pay the bill at the register as no one came to table she said 142.00 and then promptly added 18% ( they had stated a table of 6 would be charged) gratuity for a bill of 169.00. I stated that we were 4 adults and 2 small children that split a meal and that we waited so long . Response no still 18% . We love supporting local but will not be back!!!
All gluten free menu. Best gluten free food Ive had.
Fantastic Venezuelan cafe. Food was freshly prepared and looked and tasted great. Could not believe everything is gluten free (even desserts)! Friendly service and a casual atmosphere. Highly recommended!
The best Venezuelan.
A must go eatery in Calgary!
Phenomenal GF restaurant!!! Great vibe and fantastic owners!!! Great find, and will definitely be back, when back on the area!!! Thank you :)
Great all around, wonderful owner!
As always, the food was amazing. They can answer all my questions about ingredients and allergens. You can tell everyone who works there is very proud of their food. Dietary restrictions: They can always answer my questions about what has dairy and what doesnt
Great food.
Dietary restrictions: The vegan options are incredible. Food
AMAZING!!!!!!! I was so impressed with the food here, we got a share plate to try a bit of everything and it was all so damn delicious! Celiac safe dining and being able to order anything off the menu felt so special, and the atmosphere inside is very cool too! I loved the dessert so much I got another to take home. They also have their empanadas frozen for purchase to take home! If I lived in Calgary I would be here all the time, highly recommend
100% recommended
Wow I cant say enough about this gluten-free restaurant . The food was so FLAVORFUL IT HONESTLY BLEW ME AWAY I wanted to eat everything on the menu . We took some empanadas home , cant wait to try the apple pie ones. Im really looking forward to my next visit and some treats to go home with. You definitely have to try this tasty food youll be missing out if you dont. Great spot for a date night Marcus ice cream is right next door.
The food is amazing, and the view outside is very cozy
Me and my husband went to eat here and the food was amazing! We had an Arepa, a Pataconwich and desserts, and everything was soooo good! The owner herself was serving and she is fantastic! We are vegetarians (not vegans) and we had several options for us! Totally recommended!! Vegetarian options: Arepas, pataconwich and tacos!
Im literally flying back from Ontario to Calgary with the main reason for going to this restaurant again. As a celiac, its hard to dine out. I was completely safe here with no reactions. I dream of their empanadas. Best thing Ive ever tasted.
Heaven has messed up our orders a bunch of times. Tonight they missed the main meal and just sent the sides. They said there is nothing they can do and refused to issue any kind of refund. We even asked it we could order MORE food, and pay the delivery fee AGAIN, and they could just include the food they missed with the new food. Sounds reasonable right? Nope. That makes me sad. This is the first time I bothered to review a restaurant in years. If they mess anything up, even missing the main dishes, expect nothing and you will still pay. Please see photo of my empanadas. I am not sure how they would have tasted.
It makes me sad to write this since Heaven is one of the few restaurants where I can safely eat as a Celiac and I m a regular customer, but their customer service is severely lacking. Tonight I ordered delivery, and a significant part of my order was missing (meaning one person had nothing to eat). I phoned the restaurant and did not find them to be especially apologetic, and their primary solution was that I could come pick up the order (something I m not likely able to do as someone ordering delivery). I asked if I could order the same food again (so that we could get another Skip driver) and they could just refund me for that order, but they said no . After waiting around 20 minutes, they finally called me back and said I would be able to get a refund with Skip in 1-2 business days (in Skip credits only, it s my lucky day!). I asked if there was any way to actually get my food tonight, and again they said no . That person who did not get their food has now ordered from another restaurant.
You must try the pabellón criollo and the tres leches cake
I was here and I feel really comfortable, the music, the staff, the atmosphere is really good. The food looks expensive but Its worth it, the arepas are big and the empanadas are so good and delicious, I recommend the cheese empanadas, and I will be there soon again, it is really a beautiful experience!
Cozy place to grab delicious gluten free food. Very delicious and refreshing, not greasy or heavy. We got the taco trio, fish tacos and arepas! Dietary restrictions: Celiac safe
I had really high hopes for this restaurant based on reviews. When we first walked in, we were shocked by the smell of fishy deep fryer oil. The menu was interesting and we ordered a couple items. The lady was very helpful on explainging what the menu was about. The meal was just the sandwich, nothing else on the plate. The black bean plantain one was very tasty. Found it quite pricey for what you got. When we left the oil smell was stuck in our hair and clothes which left a bad taste about the dine-in experience.
Wow! What a gem! I had the taco trio and it was perfection. The space was cozy, inviting and charming. I can t wait to return to try the rest of the menu. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
We have eaten at Heaven for supper before but never for brunch until today. Wow! Our meals were fabulous! Both my husband and I have been diagnosed with Celiac in our late 60s and we appreciate that everything here is gluten free and super yummy! We have never been disappointed eating here!
Brought my family of 6 (2 who are celiac) and had the best food! Thank you!
Awesome food completely gluten-free. The owner is the most pleasant person we have met. I would go there everyday if I could.
My boyfriend went here for brunch on Sunday after the other 2 restaurants we tried to go to had a long wait. I wish we would of just waited for the other places because this was such an awful and disappointing experience. We were seated and the only people there that hadnt ordered yet. It took our server 10-15 minutes to bring us our menus and another 15 to come back and take our order while she was visiting with someone. We ordered a large French press coffee to share, chicken and waffles and a waffle fruit plate. Our server came back and let me know they were out of fruit so I had to chose something else so I ended up getting the chicken and waffles as well. I know a French press takes awhile to steep but we waited about 20 mins for it. Once it came it clearly hadnt steeped long enough as it was basically clear and had grounds floating through it and on top of that it was cold. Finally our food arrived and it was laughable how bad it was. For over 22$ each we received 3 chicken fingers that were so burnt from the deep frier every bite you took crumbled all over your plate and there was absolutely no chicken inside them and 3/4 of an eggo waffle thats crunch rivaled the chicken fingers all on a skewer. It had about 2oz of syrup on the side to dip and a small bowl with 1 strip of burnt bacon and some undercooked chopped potatoes with a side of gravy. I dont remember the last time I had a meal this low quality and disgusting. Definitely steer clear unless you want to waste your money!!
Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten free and delicious! Food
This restaurant is really a fast food place, we tried their pataconwich, sandwich made with fried plantain. They are just average. The restaurant is clean and the staff is polite.
Nice empanadas and pabellón criollo arepas! Prices are reasonable!
Food is delicious. Service was slow but not bad and the restaurant is very small, I would opt for take out next time.
Not so tasty and expensive
Delicious, I can t get enough ! No wonder it s called Heaven Vegetarian options: So many! Dietary restrictions: Soy free, Dairy free and Gluten Free options !
100% Recommended this place. Good service and delicious food. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food : 5/5 |
The food was excellent. Had Fries, Chorizo Empanadas and a Shredded Beef Pataconwich. All three possessed a delicious balance and exceptional crunch. Coming back to try the Arepas!!
The mini empanadas were amazing ,I want more Dietary restrictions: Gluten free was just wow Food : 5/5 |
Delicious food! Will visit again.
Amazing food! Loved the Arepas! Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options Food : 5/5 |
Amazing authentic Venezuelan GF Restaurant. Everything we had was sooo flavorful!! Dietary restrictions: Celiac
Great food and service. All the plates we got were glutten free and super delicious . The mango, passion fruit juices were also very good.
This restaurant had a great alternative menu and options. Ive never had yuca fries before or even thought of plantain instead of a bun, but they we both delicious! The empanadas and tacos were great, too. Alot of flavour, and it was a very reasonable price for the quality of ingredients. Its definitely worth checking out if your gluten free, or just want something different.
Its a nice place, and the staffs were very friendly. But that doesnt hide the fact that our food took 40 minutes, and we were the only table in the restaurant. Also there may have been some cross contamination with our food, because one of my friend said she is allergic to seafood, and none of us ordered anything with seafood, but she still had an allergic reaction.
I went here today for lunch with my boyfriend. I am severely allergic to gluten and sometimes when I eat out my throat starts to close up and So I avoid going out. This was an absolute treat for me, our food came out hot and very delicious, I never get so many options as Im strictly gluten free. Very kind young woman was working and she was an absolute sweetheart! Definitely gonna be a permanent date spot for us! Not to mention the plants and the cleanliness of the restaurant! I left with a genuine smile plastered on my face. If you are ever looking for authentic Venezuelan food please give this place a try!
Amazing food and great service! Great place to eat naturally GF! Dietary restrictions: Restaurant is 100% gluten-free! Food : 5/5 |
Had an amazing taco there during taco week. Other food is quite good and really enjoyed the server. Vegetarian options: A few delicious vegan options
Great food! Saw it on diners drive ins and dives and can agree the food is good would recommend
Stopped here while passing through the city. Tried the chorizo empanada and the chicken empanadas. Both were fantastic. Passionfruit juice was delicious. Server was friendly and food came out quick. Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: I am celiac and was did not get sick here.
Excellent!
What an amazing place. Staff was friendly and welcoming! The chicken waffles were amazing, and the Venezuelan Breakfast was unreal! As a Celiac, this is the place! Dietary restrictions: Celiac Disease
Totally gluten free. My son with celiac was so happy to hear this. Delicious food! Fish tacos were a highlight.
Great for gluten-free food. Great even if you can have gluten.
Small restaurant, clean and organised. Serves delicious gluten free food. Love the fish taco.
100% gluten free and delicious! The Pataconwich, yuca fries, and soups are fantastic Dietary restrictions: 100% gluten free and celiac friendly.
Absolutely delicious! And the people here are very friendly. Definitely worth a visit. Dietary restrictions: 100% gluten free but still tastes amazing
E
I ordered the Queen Apera (the chicken) and it was fantastic. Would definitely go back!
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food
Heaven Restaurant is our favorite place to eat. It is 100% GF which makes ordering easy and the food is always delish. My go-to is the Taco Trio and the Chicken Fingers.
This place is a gem. Great food and excellent service. Great work!
Excellent spot to grab some delicious Venezuelan food. The arepas and pataconwich are fantastic as are the empanadas and yucca fries. Really all of it is good. The entire menu is gluten free with the exception of some of the beers. This is not forced gluten free either, just traditional dishes that utilize corn instead of wheat. The only con is a limited drink selection but honestly its not really noticed. The food is fantastic and very friendly service. Will be back. Dietary restrictions: Excellent gluten free establishment. They make sure to label the things that are NOT gluten free on the menu.
Went here for a friend s birthday! We had a table of 6 and although it is a small restaurant, Heaven was extremely accommodating! It was nice to have an entire menu we could all enjoy with gluten allergies among our group! We ended up staying a bit past closing, but they plated our cake and even lit a candle for us! The food was incredible and we will definitely be back soon!
Dietary restrictions: Totally gluten-free! Food
We had a great time at Heaven! The mini empanadas were terrific, and I would absolutely recommend the pabellon plate - absolutely delicious.
This was the first time I have ever had Venezuelan food. We had the Chorizo Mini Empanadas as a starter and I had the Pabellon Criollo (Venezuelas national dish). The food was good, but I wouldnt say it was exceptional. I struggle a little bit with really spicy food, so I was a bit weary, especially of the Chorizo. But none of it was spicy at all. In fact, all of it was kind of bland. Not sure if this is typical of Venezuelan food or not. Id like to go back and try the fish tacos though, my wife got those and she likes them a lot. The staff was very friendly, they were quick, and the food was hot. We got a bunch of stuff to go (frozen) and I got to try the butternut squash soup - that was really good. Dietary restrictions: 100% Gluten Free. Safe for Celiac
Went for an afternoon date, went to the gem store across the street then here for dinner. Being celiac this is a gluten free dream. Usually gluten free lacks flavor and texture or both. Heaven was just that, heaven but in food form. Amazing food, even the dipping sauces for the empanadas was delicious. The ambiance was great and the service was too. 12/10 would recommend and will be going back!! Dietary restrictions: All gluten free !!!
I love this restaurant! The staff is very kind, the vibe is awesome, and the food is yummy. Nothing compares to home cooked food. The empanadas come in a variety of sweet & savory flavors, and the pabellon arepa is delicious. Also, almost every item is gluten free, made with corn flour! Dietary restrictions: Most items are gluten free!
It is a little pricy, but the food is great. Authentic Venezuelan food.
Catered seafood and chicken Paellas. They were delicious and the party went great. Worth every penny and reliable delivery. Thank you Patricia!!!!
I always look forward to eating at Heaven Restaurant when visiting Calgary, however my experience today was very disappointing. I placed a pickup order and when I got to the restaurant, I wanted to add a soup. At the till, the soup came to $18 (I misread the price as $8). The staff member was very reluctant to let us cancel the soup (the kitchen would be very mad at us, she said), and under pressure, I decided to keep it. This misunderstanding of prices was apparently enough of an inconvenience to the staff member that when we asked for additional cutlery and a bowl for the soup, her attitude turned negative and unfriendly and I never wanted to leave a restaurant faster. The quality of the food remained consistent, but portion size was small for the price. The soup in question had a few pieces of meat and potatoes, but that was about it. Writing this review is difficult as I have enjoyed the gluten-free offerings at Heaven for some time, but customer service really makes or breaks a meal. I hope that Heaven Restaurant can improve their customer service so that it is on par with their food.
Ordered for the first time, pick up Food was perfect . Thank you. Dietary restrictions: Everything is Gluten-free
I have such a beautiful experience every time I come to Heaven. Patricia is so welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious. Thank you!! Dietary restrictions: This restaurant is a scrumptious little getaway for anyone with gluten allergies or sensitivity.
Had lunch a fantastic lunch. Thank you again.
The food was absolutely amazing and they have so many gf and vegan/vegetarian options it s the perfect place for a group of people to go! Patricia is amazing and did such a fantastic job despite how busy it was, would definitely recommend making a reservation as the place is small
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free food available Food
We loved the attention and the food. Typical Venezuelan food
We got the beef burrito and the vegan burrito. The beef burrito was good but the burrito portion is a little small. However, there is a good amount of meat in there. A little pricey for what you get. They can only email or text you the receipt which was unfortunate since this was a business trip. Expensing the food added an extra step also I don t like spam and I am not sure what they will do with my email. The water was warm. Overall decent experience but prob wouldn t come here again. Edit: I came here during the Christmas break and the food was spectacular. The service was great and the atmosphere was good as well.
My wife and I had dinner at Heaven for the first time tonight and EVERY SINGLE THING was delicious!! Amazing food. Wonderful service. Ability to buy lots to go in store [we got some apple, chorizo, and chicken empanadas for the road]. We will be back soon. HIGHLY recommend! And everything is gluten-free! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free menu. Dairy free options for dessert, and scratch-made deliciousness.
Best restaurant in the city for celiacs! Love their fish tacos so much, I order it regularly. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Its a gem for celiac and foodies looking for halal options to enjoy international food. The staff was friendly and answered all the concerns/questions we had, all in all we had a lovely time and amazing food. Will go there again :-) Dietary restrictions: Celiac Friendly, Halal
My favorite Celiac safe, gluten free restaurant in Calgary! I would eat here every day if it wasnt so far away lol Dietary restrictions: Celiac safe
A friend of mine and I were getting together for lunch. She cannot eat gluten, so I googled and found Heaven. We loved it! She was so excited to be able to eat mac and cheese, chicken fingers, cake... items she has been avoiding for years. My meal was fantastic, though more avocado would have been better. She ordered quesadillas and I had Pabellon Criollo. They were out of Venezuelan Lemonade so we had mango juice. We were too full for dessert! Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: Most dishes can be vegetarian. Dietary restrictions: Totally Gluten free menu! Parking: Paid street parking.
SO good. The food is so unique and delicious and I cant wait to try some again!
The arepa I had was good, though for the cost it would have been great if it came with a side of some sort. Im not sure if its worth it to visit again. **There were no sides listed on the menu. I looked over it thoroughly before ordering.
Hands down the BEST gluten free chicken fingers! I love the Yuka fries that come with it-lots of nutrients & super tasty! My new favourite restaurant!
Delicious, fresh food. Big portions, all 100% gluten free, a wonderful mix of Venezuelan and Canadian fare. We haven t had anything bad from Heaven, but our favorites are the heavenly mac and cheese, the pabellon plate and the quesadilla. AND, they might have the best poutine I ve EVER eaten. The yucca fries hold their shape and have a wonderful flavor, the gravy is so rich and yummy, and they give plenty of cheese curds. WOW. And the desserts never disappoint.
Such amazing and great tasting GF food!! A must if your in the area!!
Really nice experience. They offer Halal chicken and beef option . A bit on the pricey side but we enjoyed all the dishes.
I love that this place is gluten free, and that it is a small business. But whenever I order, they always have little mistakes. Sometimes it is not the correct order, or it is missing the dips, etc. I wish they would strive to make sure everything is in the order before giving it to the customer.
The food was pretty good - I loved the crispness of the arepas. A bit pricey though. Coffee grounds are too fine for french press.
Absolutely incredible. You wouldn t even know everything was gluten free if they didn t tell you. Service was great as well!
Hidden gem
Absolutely phenomenal.
Great service with delicious food as well as many to-go food options.
Real Venezuelan food with the great gluten free option
Great menu, tasty and authentic Venezuelan food that is all / 100% gluten free. Our server offered a complimentary tres leche cake as it was my wifes birthday.
Best empanadas. Seriously.
Everything I tried was amazing. Cute atmosphere, the parking across the street is reasonably priced, awesome staff
The food was okay but I think overpriced for what you get. The service is average and I dont think theres a customer first approach across the different staff members.
Omg! One of the best meals Ive had in a while. Ive never tried venezuela food before but I am a fan for life now.
Authentic Venezuelan-style arepas with savoury, rich fillings in a variety of flavours. The beef is slow-cooked and melts in your mouth. The sauces are lively and bright without being overpowering. The arepas are perfectly cooked and hearty. There are good vegetarian options. On top of it all, the entire menu is gluten free, making this place safe for Celiacs or those with gluten intolerance.
The food here is great and completely gluten free. This was my second visit and I have enjoyed both the Queen arepas and the shrimp tacos. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Hi probably one of the worst experiences at this restaurant. Food that came out was mediocre at best, the quantities are extremely small and its definitely overpriced for what you get. We made this a note on our uber eats and were told dear Shah you truly have a taste issue, sorry we cannot fix this for you, and no, you are not getting a refund. Rude staff, terrible customer service and mediocre food. I would not recommend.
Amazing food with decent portions! They have a lot of great options for all sorts of diets including halal, vegetarian and vegan!
Loved it! 100% gluten free menu, and food was amazing. I have celiac disease and have never had an empanada before, but was able to try them here! Highly recommend the cheese and guava empanadas, a little sweet and a little savory at the same time. We were there at about 5:00 pm on a Sunday and it was not crowded at all. We did not order them, but there was also gluten free tres leces cake and gluten free tiramisu I would love to try one day! Will return again! Dietary restrictions: 100% Gluten free
It was the first time to eat Venezuela food. It was good taste, however waiting time until receiving foods was long. We were able to enjoy authentic Venezuelan cuisine at that restaurant. The menu offered a wide variety of choices, allowing us to explore new flavors. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, creating a pleasant dining experience. The staff was kind and attentive, providing helpful answers to our questions. Visiting this Venezuelan restaurant during our business trip in Calgary was a wonderful experience, coupled with the discovery of a new culinary culture. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and it has left a lasting impression. We look forward to revisiting it on our next trip.
Delicious empanadas this restaurant is 100% gluten-free so safe for anyone with coeliac disease. Highly recommended lovely stuff!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Heaven, and I must say it was an extraordinary culinary experience that left me utterly satisfied. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable meal. Another aspect that impressed me was the attention to dietary restrictions and preferences. Heaven offers a range of options for those with specific dietary needs, such as gluten-free, vegan, or dairy-free. Its refreshing to find a restaurant that caters to a diverse array of dietary requirements without compromising on taste or quality. If you arent gluten free dont be scared to eat here. I have brought extremely picky eaters who eat normally and this spot became their favourite restaurant very quickly. If I could give 100 stars I would. There should be a line out the door and to the Saddledome for this food and service.
Small portions for high prices and painfully slow service but youncan tell they are trying
Delicious vegan and gluten free options!!
Delicious and authentic food
Nice food
Heaven is the only 100% gluten free restaurant in Calgary. The food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
This place is amazing. Definitely going back.
Small upscale Venezuelan restaurant with a limited but quality menu. Arepas are delicious. We had the brunch plate (see photo). About $25 / e.
WOW! Randomly picked this spot on DoorDash. This was the BEST delivery food we have ever ordered. We are blown away with the quality and taste of the food. I cannot wait to have a dine in experience. I will crave this food and absolutely recommend to others!
Restaurant with most pathetic service. It takes minimum 45 minutes for the order, with arrogance behaviour from the server. Over that the food that comes is down to nothing. I gave 1 star because that s the minimum, otherwise -5 would have been appropriate.. never to come back here
Delicious. Highly highly recommend.
Best meal Ive ever had in Calgary. Empanadas and fish tacos were freaking delicious. Dietary restrictions: Entirely gluten free which makes my celiac heart happy.
Delicious food and friendly owners!
The empanadas were INCREDIBLE. We inhaled them so quickly there was no time for a photo. Specifically the chorizo with the cilantro dip, but the chicken and beef were also delicious. Great arepas, pictured below is The Queen . For dessert a vegan AND gluten free très leches cake that I am sure I will never forget. Space has a laid-back, cozy vibe, and everything on the menu was gluten free! Would definitely come back here. Vegetarian options: Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free!
Fantastic gluten-free restaurant. The empanadas were great. The other meals were very tasty. We had the taco trio, fish tacos, papillon criollo and the Mexican chorizo arepas. Dessert was Tiramisu, alfajores cookies and quesillo. I recommend the cookies. All were very good. The service was very friendly. Dietary restrictions: Completely gluten-free.
The food here is phenomenal. They re safe for celiacs and there s no compromising on flavour! We had a bigger group so they had some trouble accommodating us at first. But they were doing their best and the care put into the food and drink was clear. I ll be coming here every time I visit Calgary. Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian arepas. Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly. Nut allergy sensitive.
Easy going restaurant, relaxed atmosphere and the food was great.
We have ordered from Heaven multiple times and every single time the flavour and quality of the foods ordered is absolutely top notch. The fact that absolutely everything here is gluten free is a massive boon to someone who has dietary issues. Sure the price is a little higher, but the quality makes every penny well worth the price. I will continue to make Heaven a part of my routine and you should too. Dietary restrictions: EVERYTHING is gluten free. Celiacs rejoice
Arepa sandwiches.. enough said! If you re Colombian, Latin and miss some home, here is where you want to be
Delicious! I got the empanadas and they were so good. Service is amazing!
Great food everything is GF
Awesome empanadas! More filling than youd think!
Wonderful! As someone who is celiac I am a so thankful for the fully gluten free menu. Everything was delicious and not greasy! Chicken fingers, empanadas and my favourite.. the fish tacos ! My only complaint is that I wish there was a restaurant in Airdrie
Amazing food. Owner explained items on the menu. Really friendly. 100% recommend
Excellent Venezuelan influenced food, fresh to order. Friendly staff.
Great selection of soups and vegetarian options
My current favorite place for a delicious gluten free dinner when visiting Calgary
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free heaven Food
Empanadas are amazing
Great food and very friendly service. Definitely recommended if you are looking for glutenfree food. Dietary restrictions: Everything is glutenfree
The food here is always top notch. My gluten free rummy is so happy.
Good food and atmosphere. They stop dining in an hour before the closing but you can still take a takeout
The food here was amazing! It is safe for celiacs. I had a pulled pork arepa and chorizo empanadas. Both were delicious. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
What an amazing find!!!! My wife is celiac and loves to try new food. We cannot find a place that is truly safe for her, so we are never able to go out for a bite. Well today, we found Heaven, and let me tell you, its a perfect name! The food was outstanding, and the service was top notch! Special thanks to Samuel for accommodating us last minute so close to closing time. We also bought several bags of the homemade epenadas to take home. Will definitely be back!!!
Such a great dinner. Two celiacs and a vegan ate happily together. The empanadas? Amazing!!
GF foodies visiting from Los Angeles and found this gem!! The restaurant is small but bright and cheery. We were pleasantly greeted and given a few recommendations when we asked. We ordered the chips and dips, which although looked ordinary, were exceptionally good! Chips were freshly cooked and hot, the beans had so much flavor, salsa and guacamole also sang. We tried the black bean and plantain empanadas as well as the chorizo that came with 2 different dipping sauces. The chorizo was my favorite. I nearly ordered 2 arepas but was warned they are pretty big and it would likely be too much food she was right! and I appreciated the advice. We took 4 alfajores for dessert to-go. My partner has celiac and I eat gluten-free by default. A lovely spot for authentic Venezuelan food and worry-free GF!
Food isnt for me. But, everyone I went with enjoyed it!
Great little place with various south American foods. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food : 5/5 |
Really nice food the empanadas were especially good! Had chorizo w cilantro sauce and it was one of the best Ive had tbh. Had their National dish which was nice with their hot sauce
Phenomenal food. All gluten free. We are not from Calagry, but we need to eat here each time we come. Empanadas are great, plantains so delicious. We cant get this kind of food where we live. A must try for everyone.
10/10 will return and recommend this place to everyone. My husband ordered empanadas, my son had the tacos and I had an arepa.. not only was the 100% gluten free thing a major win for myself and my son, but there was absolutely no compromise on flavour or texture, either. We ended up buying bags of empanadas from the heaven market afterwards and a vanilla coconut cake, everything is phenomenal! Thank you! Dietary restrictions: 100% gluten free, dairy free options, vegetarian and vegan options Kid-friendliness: My son loved the empanadas and tacos! Flavourful and not too spicy
Food is OK. Service needs improvement. Empanadas and yuca were good.
The office placed an order for delivery, and the fotos do not make justice to the food. The smell, the flavor. The whole staff were very happy. The portions are very good size. The deeping sauce, cilantro is amazing. And they have vegan choice so one is left out. We order already a second time for the office and the standard is very high. We are very happy and will continue to order. Vegetarian options: Caribbean bowl, red pepper side sauce yuca fries.
Amazing food. The yuca fries were to die for. Everything we ordered was so flavourful. The service was fantastic and the prices were reasonable. Lots of gluten free and vegetarian options. Will be putting this restaurant on my rotation for when I visit Calgary. Dietary restrictions: We went with a friend who has a severe gluten allergy and vegetarian restrictions. They were very accommodating and safe in the preparation of their food. Parking: Only street parking
Very nice and authentic Restaurant. We enjoyed our Venezuelan food and the kind service. The arepas were so good that we had to order more! Highly recommend!!
Excelent underrated
A group of us (including one celiac) dined here last night for the first time - it certainly wont be our last! The food was incredibly good. Ive tried a few gluten free foods before and didnt enjoy them - you come to expect they arent going to be very good. That isnt the case at all at Heaven - I wouldnt have even been able to tell the dishes we had were gluten free, they were so delicious. We had chips & assorted dips as a shared appetizer, followed by mains of quesadillas, arepas, tacos and chicken fingers - all were big hits. Yucca fries are my new favourite. We cant wait to go back! Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten free - and delicious!
The arepas are pretty good and nice ppl
Nice little cafe environment, could go broke wanting to try everything...the hangover soup was great but the corn on the cob in the soup is silly...no way to easily eat it, tries to stab the fork into it but it would go in as the core was super tough. Seems like little thought in that and could probably spruce up the soup with spices considering how much it is..,, and to the comment of I wanted to try everything, that was before I ate and based on the restaurants response. Ill probably never return...thanks Dietary restrictions: The food is tasty but seems a bit expensive for what it is but nice to see that everything is gluten free
Has to be one of the best places for Gluten Free food with excellent service...
So delicious and super cute place 100% will come back
Excellent place, food and service. It is very clean. Cristina works there and she was amazing, knowledgable, smiling and welcoming. Thank you.
Awesome. So awesome. It is so appreciated to have dedicated, gluten free, restaurants. The food was super good and it feels great knowing that it is safe. I will absolutely be back next time I am in Calgary! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free! As a person with severe Celiac disease, dedicated GF places like this are rare and a blessing!
The food here was really tasty and it s awesome that everything is gluten free. The only downside is that after dining in, the cooking smell stuck to my clothes.
Amazing food! The black bean plantain empanadas had such a perfect level of sweetness Im still thinking about them. The yucca fries were cooked and season perfectly. Always great to eat at a place that is dedicated gluten free so my partner (who is celiac) can eat without worrying about cross contamination. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free, vegetarian, dairy free
Awesome food and lots of gluten free and dairy free choices. My only regret is not getting more empenadas! Dietary restrictions: The whole menu is gluten free!!
The food was flavourful and had a home cooked feel to it, which was especially nice after having been on the road. The person who served me was very kind and the place looked clean and cozy. I didn t wait long at all, under 10 mins which is impressive for a couple of quality meals. Thanks for being dedicated GF, and for the wonderful food.
Unfortunately, the worst customer service ever.
Delicious! Dietary restrictions: Lots of GF options Recommended dishes Pabellon Criollo
The food is ok, but not amazing for the price to be honest. I can appreciate its hard to find a GF restaurant, and can see that if you need that, youd probably rate it higher. But if just judging based on the food, it wasnt the most flavourful, nor was there anything special about the menu or the ingredients or the preparation. Dinner for 3 rounded out to almost $100 with tax and tip - I have had much more compelling dining experiences for that price.
Really cool vibe. Food was great, had lots of vegetarian and vegan options, served quite quickly.
What an amazing food and service. Patricia the owner will make laugh, and feel like home with her stories. I highly recommend the Patacones, quesillos and tres leches desserts. I can not wait to come back for the Arepas Venezolanas. Food
Finally checked out this spot, and Im thrilled I did. I was craving some cheese empanadas, and this place totally delivered! The cheese was divine, and the empanada was hot, giving me that perfect cheese pull I was dying for. The sauces, especially the pirulo and cilantro, were amazing. Also, the yuca fries were so delicious with the dipping sauces! The coconut cake was good, but not something I would buy again. The pabellon was a bit of a letdown, but Im looking forward to exploring more from their menu! Its a bit pricey, but totally worth it.
A very small place, dish specialties from South America, and all were very good. Caters to food allergies.
Fantastic selection of gluten-free food all of which is extremely tasty, plus they have a grab and go freezer full of stuff you can take home with you!
I found the food good the atmosphere is pretty good as well I didnt mind it myself
Dined there tonight with my 24 year old son. We both agreed it was in our top 3 favorite restaurants of all time, and we travel a lot! Ultra fresh ingredients, carefully prepared, perfectly seasoned. Also, the restaurant itself is ultra clean; nicely styled, and it just felt uplifting to be there. Wish you had another location in our city in Montana! Thank you.
We were craving for exotic food and this one caught our eye as it is a Venezuelan restaurant. Nice location in the main action area of Calgary and that s where good things end. Our server wasn t friendly. I asked for recommendations and she had no input. Food was not Venezuelan but felt like Mexican. Their national dish plate had rice, beans, Caribbean banana etc. Paid over $50 for sub par food and service.
