Please note, ArtBar will be temporarily closed for the health and safety of our guests and employees until further notice.
We were just there for drinks and apps. The drinks menu was extensive and it was difficult to choose from many great sounding cocktails. The helpful and friendly bartender recommended one that was particularly seasonal and popular, and it was very good. For food, we absolutely loved the vegan empazone with Beyond meat. Flavorful, crispy, good portion size. Based on this quick visit, we will definitely be back for drinks and or a full meal another time. It was early on a Saturday and not too busy, so it was easy to get seats when just walking in and the noise level was very reasonable for having a conversation. Slightly hard to find because it's inside the hotel and Google maps was confused about which entrance to use.
Had breakfast this morning. I was very disappointed. The orange juice was far from being freshly squeezed (as mentioned in the menu). The oatmeal was more a soup (the least tasty I’ve ever eaten). Service quality was a the best average. Never again
I would give this restaurant zero stars if I could. The location is beautiful but that's where it ended. We sat down and the waitress took our drink order then it took 25min just for them to get delivered. Meanwhile people that came in well after us already got their drink and food immediately. After waiting another 30min our food showed up cold. Before I ordered I informed our server I had a tree nut allergy. She acknowledged it. My food then came out covered in walnuts. Not to to mention there was zero mention of any nuts being on this. I flagged down the waitress and she was more concerned with her not messing up not my food having the allergen on it. She said she talked to the manager but they never came to the table. I will never go back.
Charles river delight. The food here was borderline epic strangely. I had salmon and it was literally perfect. Crispy fish with super tasty bean salad, so good fiber, and just a well thought out meal. I think we spent $125 with tip and got to enjoy the skyline from that side of town with some nice food prepared well and with consistency. The joint got crazy busy and they seemed to be in a good groove with getting food out and getting drinks to tables. Prob great spot for the hotel guests They had like four or five mixed drinks made with alcohol feee spirits that were available that would be fun to try if you are driving or biking. Solid team, hope they have nice management and are treated kindly, it seemed as thought they were happy so fingers crossed. Thanks again for taking good care of us (and the full patio of folks) before we enjoyed member night at the MOS next door! Great little spot this will for sure become where we hit for eats when we go to MOS since it’s about 100 yards from where you park. Thanks again
We had a good time here, sitting for a nice dinner with colleagues outside on Art Bar terrace enjoying the view in Charles River and Boston skyline. Service, drinks and food were good. A bigger problem with sitting outside though are the birds who are sitting on the ceiling elements literally above you. It is not very pleasant when they „digest“ on you - happened twice and that limited the experience as we were getting a bit stressed checking if any birds were sitting above us.
Outdoor dinning was shaded from afternoon sun, very pleasant. Just beyond a narrow roadway, a pleasing harbor with all the associated water sounds. We had a party of 9 that was easily accommodated. Restaurant was busy but our drinks and food came out briskly! Waitress was delightful very helpful with questions
Our first time. Expect leisurely service. It was busy when we arrived. It seems only the servers understood the delays to the customers. There was only so much they could do. So we waited about 20 minutes for our drinks. We ordered the indigo cosmo and the bloody mary. We also ordered the Artbar burger and the lamb burger. Both were good not excellent. The fries were excellent. Yes I would try again - the eggs and home fries looked excellent.
A solid hotel restaurant with average service and great food. Came in this past weekend for brunch. Once we arrived, we were told to wait for another 15 minutes as their kitchen was understaffed and overwhelmed with orders. We eventually got seated around the promised time, and thankfully, there weren’t any significant delays afterwards. We got the crab cake, Artbar burger, and the bananas foster French toast. Based on the reviews, I didn’t have high expectations for their food, but they were surprisingly good. I liked the crispy outer layer on the crab cake, and the arugula salad on the side was a great pair with the lightly seasoned crab meat inside. There weren’t any fresh veggie toppings on the burger, but it was still packed with umami flavors. We also enjoyed the Banana French toast. It wasn’t overly sweet, but the candied walnut toppings gave it a right amount of sugar boost. Overall, I was glad to find out that ArtBar exceeded my expectations. Prices were reasonable for the quality, and I would probably return if I can’t get a brunch reservation at other popular spots in the city.
Just okay .
We were denied seating when asked to be seated outside on 10/12/24 around 12:30. The hostess told us that there was a problem with bees & that the patio was closed. Imagine our surprise when we walked past that very same patio 20 minutes later to see 2 different parties seated there with drinks and appetizers in front of them! I am left with the definite impression that we were being discriminated against. Not cool.
Beautiful place with great service, delicious food (fresh ingredients) and nice drinks! Decent prices, lovely outdoor seating by the water. This will be my go-to place from now on
The wait time for sitting was 30 minutes and once seated, breakfast took more than 1 hour to get to the table. I have patience but it does not take 1 hour to cook scrambled eggs. The basic american breakfast was not something I would order again.
Felt safe for allergies, great waiter, good options for drinks and food
Considering the location Artbar has so much potential, sadly the lacking menu, quality of service and ambiance are all lacking and feel like a missed opportunity
Nice view
I enjoyed my experience here! Food and drinks were great. Wait staff were friendly, but took long to bring food out and refill water. They were helpful in other aspects. Shared apps with my group and the lamb burger was great without the slaw!
Waiter messed up our order multiple times, did not bring things we ordered despite multiple reminders. We finally got help from the manager. Delay about 40 minutes. When it finally came my omelet was good.
Nice outdoor patio! Especially appreciated their substitutions for gluten free options with dinner
This is my go to post-science museum spot. Friendly staff, casual hotel vibe, and great views.
Didnt have a ressie, dropped in and was able to be seated outside, even though they were busy. Had a nice brunch in great weather. Just had better overall experience than the other reviews said. Seem a bit underrated. Would return.
Beautiful view without the crowd. Very pleasant service. Good omlette
Very pleasant terrace next to the river, with very good views. Excellent food and friendly and professional treatment.
Great spot to go after the Science Museum. We relaxed in the outdoor patio with harbor view while having 2 fantastic drinks and the best sliders! Perfect!
Went here for a reception while staying at the Royal Sonesta for work. So we didnt order off the menu or get table service, hence the no rating for service (abstaining), but the heavy hors doeuvres were very tasty. Wings and things and then the desserts! Those were great, little dishes that let you sample 4 or 5 without going overboard. The $8 Fat Tire bottle was a little steep for this Montana boy, but I expect thats normal for Boston. They had these cool glass igloos for outside dining.
Prepare yourself before asking to sit in the igloo. Got charged double than we were told including 20% igloo fee + 20% igloo service fee. Food and service were okay, drink was good
Hidden gem
Pretty nice place but still hotel restaurant / vibes. Good outside views of the river and city scape.
The service was really not professional (ex. no silverware for a while even after the food was served, waitress away and not paying attention, then almost taking a plate/dish with 3 quarters of the food left and that I was still eating)
Poor professionalism: Staff were more focused on socializing than attending to customers. Inefficient response to a forgotten bag: Staff showed little initiative in contacting security. Lack of empathy: Staff members were indifferent to the customers needs. Problem resolved by another staff member, highlighting inconsistent service. Dismissive behavior: Staff failed to acknowledge customers gratitude, showing poor etiquette.
My first experience with chicken and waffles, as good as the food was, the outdoor terrace was the star, as it sits you by the charles river and the boat club. Absolutely wonderful for a sunday brunch
The atmosphere is wonderful, the service was great and I had a burger that was totally delicious
My fun Boston bucket list included igloo dining and I was surprised and treated to a beautiful and wonderful experience at Art Bar in Cambridge. Eneida made it very special as did the chef and I cannot thank them enough! It was wonderful to have the privacy of our igloo with the view of the city lights and the casual yet delicious food. We even had our own playlist in the igloo! Much appreciated by us all and I highly recommend it! All the best to you and your families in 2024!
I expected more for the hype of this place . Drinks are weak over priced. Food is okay. Loved being right by the Charles food atmosphere outdoors.
Felt like a speed eating competition. Went here for Christmas Day. Within an hour we finished a three course meal. Soup was served first but had to be poured over behind the scenes from a Tupperware container into the serving bowls, soup was all over the edges of the bowl. Maincourse, the meat was cold. After sending it back it still wasn t warm. Salmon was good, side dishes were very nice. Dessert was nice.
My family and I had Christmas dinner at Artbar this year. We had a fabulous time. The food was great and so was our service Eneida. There was also a very friendly manager who came over to say hello and check in. We will definitely be back! Parking: Parking was easy at the Royal Sonesta garage. We paid 15$ for three hours after validating our ticket.
Great for brunching. Good view and good food!
The outdoor patio is great!
The views of the city/river were non-existent at night due to the windows having a mirror effect. However, the food was delicious and well made. The service? Fabulous. I would definitely come back for the crab cakes and shrimp scallop.
Waiter forget about us. I asked someone to please get him. He came and took our order (didn t apologize). An hour and a half later I had to get up and find the manager. We ordered 3 salads and a burger. He said that they were at capacity. Not an apology, again, I said we only ordered salads and a burger. He said he would check on our order in the kitchen. He never came back to offer an explanation. We waited another 30 minutes and finally I had to get up again to find the waiter to just ask for the check for our drinks. He then apologized and said the kitchen never had our order. Manager never came back, no one offered to comp our drinks. Paid and walked out. Worst experience!!
Had a wonderful dinner at ArtBar over the weekend. The food was delicious and the staff is very kind and attentive. Thank you to the restaurant supervisor, Danaya, and my server for a great experience!
Enjoyed my time in Boston and the ArtBar. The lamb burger was excellent
Nice views of Boston and a great way to escape the hustle and bustle. Pleasantly surprised for a hotel restaurant in downtown Cambridge.
Service was very poor, ordered chicken which was not well cooked. Did reservation before going there, still they didnt keep the table for us..will not be going there again and will not recommend too..
Drinks and snacks were okay
Great view but waited for nearly an hour for a subpar omelette. Do not recommend.
Relaxed and beautiful place by the river. Nice to have a beer and some food. Not enough waiters, some people left unanttended.
Beautiful location by the Charles River, wait staff was kind but service was slow (45 minute wait after ordering). Food is bad quality and expensive for the portion ($15 for a single crab cake), and atmosphere is outdated. I ordered the pork belly sandwich and felt sick the entire evening after.
Beautiful river view, but the food is both bad and expensive. The cocktails were surprisingly the worst part of the menu. I won t come here again, but if I did, I would get a beer and the sweet potato tots as a quick appetizer.
Great bartenders and service especially given the crowd.
Most hotel bar/grills are lackluster. This one is above average. Standard new American fare, with a good bar both inside and outside. The patio has a spectacular view of the Charles and the Boston skyline. Probably the best in Cambridge. MIT and companies often use the outside patio for events.
The food was fine, but I got only half of what I ordered, and when we asked to split the bill by what we ordered, they spit it 50/50 anyway.
Right on the water, not too fancy, food is good.
Beautiful outdoor seating helped the rating but the service was slow and confused, and the food was hit and miss. My chowder obviously came from a concentrate, it still had lumps of mix and a whole dried bay leaf in my bowl plus I needed to add salt. The crab cake was much better, crispy on the outside and not too gummy in the middle with a nice little salad. The fish tacos needed better tortillas, picked up the first one and it fell apart, ended up eating them with a fork. The drinks sound interesting but the ones we tried were all too sweet. Unfortunately the service was very slow, had to come back a second time to ask us our order because they forgot, even though they wrote it down, and still brought the wrong thing and forgot to provide napkins and cutlery.
My wife and I decided to celebrate the 4th of July at Art Bar in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but left with a lukewarm impression. Initially, we were disappointed by the lack of available tables in the patio area, but we settled for the bar, where we were treated to two delightful cocktails - a lavender concoction for her and a blackberry one for me, both of which were strong and satisfying. Unfortunately, the service fell short. It took a significant amount of time to get attention from the staff, and when we finally did, we were told to wait even longer due to the restaurants busy state. This, coupled with confusion over which waiter was to take our order and an uncomfortable interaction with a waitress, was rather off-putting. Things did improve when a manager stepped in, rectified the situation, and took our order. Our drinks were promptly served, yet a second round revealed inconsistencies - missing cherries and an unexpected change in sweetness. The food was a mixed bag. My lamb burger was passable but unimpressive, and the accompanying onion rings were disappointingly burnt. My wifes Art Bar Burger was not to her liking - overdone with scant vegetables. We did find a saving grace in the sweet potato tarts which were thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. Sadly, despite the excellent cocktails and convenient location, the overall experience at Art Bar left us wanting. The subpar service and inconsistent food quality have unfortunately deterred us from a return visit. Its a pity because we really wanted to love this local spot.
One of the few riverfront bars. Other than that, it doesnt have much going for it
The location in the hotel is convenient. The seating outside has nice views of the Salt and Pepper Bridge and the Boston side. The food is decent. The desserts could be better.
Great location with view of Boston at the outdoor tables. Food is pretty decent and fairly priced. Attentive and friendly service.
Food was great. Drinks were meh
Great place to brunch, but during the summer it is fantastic. If you like a nice place overwatching the Charles and be warm outside come here
Great place, nice atmosphere, great food and drinks for brunch!
I loved being here . The dinner was yummy and delicious. Had grilled fish, fries and a Diet pepsi. Food
Parking: Free parking on the street after 6pm alongside the restaurant. Thankful to God that a spot was open right in front. Food
Soup cold salmon dish flavorless not a drop of ginger
Food is bland, drinks are bland, service and views were great at sunset
Really good food. Awesome Service.
Server was in a rush, didn t pay attention to my order and brought the wrong order with meat when I clearly asked no meat. Waited 10 mins for manager to show up and they took another 10 mins to fix the order. Also, the quality of flat bread was awfully cheap. Felt like they bought the bread from dollar tree. I won t recommend this place to anyone!
They call this a burger. Bad place.
beautiful patio with views of the Boston skyline. Really good hummus, better than I expected. Drinks were excellent and we werent rushed at all. Service was lovely.
Great location and atmosphere. Prices were reasonable and portions were decent sized. I had the Artbar Salad and Fish Tacos. Nice cocktails and attentive, friendly service. Located steps from the Museum of Science.
I really though it would be better
Great place nice atmosphere!
Food was good. However if you are booking in the winter and reserve an igloo please note that there is a 20% charge automatically added to your tab for maintaining said igloo as well as an addition 20% service fee. For service that took too long and messed up orders two separate times, a 20% service fee was audacious. Would have had no issues had any of these charges been advertised instead of first seen in minuscule writing on the menu as we sat down.
Amazing food!! Duck sliders, hummus platter, and the seasoned chicken wings were perfect for our group dinner.
Don t recommend. Food ok. Drinks terrible.
As hotel bar as it gets
Prices are way too high and the menu and the holiday menu is so confusing.
We had a great time. Good menu. Great staff. Tasty food
Good food, but place a little boring (
My wife and I had a light lunch. Ceasar salad clam chowder. Great service, great food, nice atmosphere. Everything was great.
Best wings! service was great our door desk is nice in the summer . complimentary champagne for anniversary
Love the food and drink. I had the Salmon and Quinoa and thought it was amazing.! The view is beautiful along side the river. Perfect atmosphere and good service. Two Thumbs Up. Im here currently for my second time and it was yet again nothing short from amazing! This time i had the Peppered Steak, Hummus, and of course the Sticky Wings. My server was amazing. Ill be back again.
Their patio seems to be nice . Was closed when we went . They have nice views of Boston from across the river . Can go for a little walk after dinner . The service is great and they validate for parking . All great except when it comes to the food unfortunately. Bland and tasteless for the most part. They either need a new chef or a new menu I dont know but what I do know is that I dont see myself coming back for the food thats for sure
I stayed at the Sonesta for 4 nights and went to the Art Bar numerous times. The food and service was always really good.
Service was somewhat slow & inaccurate, but foods good. Great view from patio, but its available from only a few inside tables. Atmospheres rather good too, with lots of paintings on walls.
Very average
The food was really below expectations. I ordered the cake crab which was tolerable but me the monk fish was impossible to eat as it had a strange ammonia nasty flavour and a terrible presentation; I then asked to change for the chicken which was eatable but extreme greasy. I only gave it 1start to account for the cocktails which were ok. The service was acceptable. Definitely one of the worst foods I every tried before in my life.
Food was perfecto!
Location + view: Amazing. Everything else: Not great. We had brunch, the lavender mimosa was so heavily chemical syrup that I couldn t take more than a few sips. The avocado toast was a) not toasted and b) made with pre made avocado that soaked the bread.
The outdoors view is great, spacious and with a good vibe.
Nice spot, good patio vibes. Food was good too
WONDERFUL experience at ArtBar and The Royal Sonesta Boston! The brunch was absolutely delicious and the view from our seats was beautiful. The wait staff was SO accommodating and genuinely helpful. Every second was enjoyable.
Great outdoor seating with views of Boston, live music for Sunday brunch Kid-friendliness: Simple but good kids menu with fruit and dessert
Vegans! Stay away from the impossible burger I could not eat it. It smells like meat. The white bean soup was good.
It was AMAMZING. Food and service was AMAZING. a bird pooped on my sis twice. I recommend to others Vegetarian options: A lot of it was vegan Kid-friendliness: Kid menu
Very nice atmosphere and staff. The lamb burger was delicious. I asked for an appetizer that they no longer had on the menu and they prepared it for me. Very professional.
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, and great view of the city.
Awesome decor and this burger was bomb! Very beautiful outside seating. Perfect date night place! About average price for high end food but the drinks were on the $$ side.
Over priced subpar food. I was not impressed. I was in town for only one night and wanted to get one of Bostons famous lobster rolls. I originally wanted to go to one of the more popular spots like Lukes or Neptunes however it was raining so I decided to stay at the hotel and eat. It restaurant itself was noisy, crowded, and felt unwelcoming. The service was slow (but it was busy so I understand) and the food took a long time to come out. The lobster roll was so disappointing. It was small and overly chewy for $30. I would not recommend eating here.
Great spot right on the river. Can be pretty busy .
Friendly employees. Good food. Recommend the citrus wings!
The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. Fantastic drinks.
Arguably the worst service weve had in the Boston area. We had a party of 8 people show up at 10:30AM for Sunday brunch and we ordered drinks right away. The restaurant was MAYBE half full. The iced coffee was literally just hot coffee poured over a glass full of ice. By the time it came to our table the ice was already fully melted and the coffee was very watered down. We then put our food orders in around 10:45AM. After about 45 minutes goes by, our party starts to get a bit anxious/hungry. Our server has came by once to refill waters, but otherwise seems very content and unconcerned about the fact that our food is taking so long. When we asked them about the food, he told us a few times that they were SUPER busy that day so food was taking a while (the restaurant only got less full as our time there went on). After over an hour of waiting, we asked the server if we could have bread to munch on since we were still waiting. He proceeded to give us a basket of some of the cheapest looking bread weve seen and only THEN did our food finally come out. The food was okay, but by that time we were so hungry anything wouldve tasted good. Tip was included since we had a big party, but thats still no excuse to treat customers the way we were treated. Will never be going back.
Part of a hotel but good food and service
Nice place
Price quality for the meal is not to be suggested. Great service. Very beautiful places.
No photos cos the food was not all that. The scallops and pasta , clam chowder soup never again. Ambience nice but food NO
Good food, nice staff. Really excellent deserts. IPA was a bit yeasty and chunky for my taste but live and learn.
Good service. Food was very good.
Sitting outside in the evening is a fantastic experience. The seared scallops with lobster over pasta is incredible! Great service, too. Parking: Street and parking garage..
Exceptional service from our waiter Faulk. Burger was cooked perfectly, juicy and flavorful. The citrus wings were large, tasty and moist. Overall a very nice lunch experience.
Good food, good service.
Its a standard hotel bar with both indoor and outdoor seating.
Great lobster rolls, and the patio has nice views.
Okay place for a meal in the hotel. Nice view of the river.
Imagine being told the aioli is oat milk aioli after you have a reaction to dairy because they served you aioli with dairy. Not only did they serve something with dairy in it after being told not to, the manger lied about it. I ordered the same burger 3 other times while staying at the hotel. There was never any aioli on the burger. In fact, if you read the menu the Beyond Burger doesnt even have aioli listed as something that comes with a burger! Its one thing to make a mistake. We are all humans, but to be flat out lied to is unacceptable. So there is no confusion, it was the manager working on 10/6/2022 at 7PM that lied about the aioli.
Good food, fast service. Unfortunately a lot of noise, due to the outside temperature we only ate inside
Okay I wasnt expecting this place to be as amazing as it was. Everything was melt in your mouth amazing. Im a slow eater and usually burgers for me become dry when they sit (even at rare temp). My Lamb Burger stayed delicious and juicy till the last bite regardless of my eating speed. They Clam Chowder and Pumpkin Torte were also fantastic Vegetarian options: Beyond meat. Fried cauliflower
Not bad hotel food for Sonesta! Lobster roll was great and good other options!
Great food with one of the best views if you sit outside. Dietary restrictions: They have GF and vegan options. Food : 5/5 |
Loved the food
Decided to try this for Thanksgiving dinner. Did not disappoint. Food was delicious and way more than we could eat. It was served family style with bowls of each item being brought to our table. They even provided takeout containers so we could take our leftovers home. We have enough food left for at least two more meals. The wait staff was super attentive and nice. View of the river amazing. Fun atmosphere but not too crowded or noisy. Looking forward to warmer weather so we can try the outdoor patio.
Try the sweet potato tots.
Really enjoyed this place, and the food was great. Its in a lovely location with a great view of the river too.
Parking: Parking was free with restaurant validation. Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible. Its in a hotel so ADA compliant. Food : 3/5 |
This place has nice views of the city skyline and Charles River. I recommend a lobster roll and hummus plate. The drink menu includes several mock tail options.
Really good food. Bad ambiance
Surprising brunch options here. No problem at all getting a table, even outside on the patio. Omlette was great, Ive also had the chicken and waffles and loved that too. Will definitely stop by again.
Great service, very good food, and wonderful outdoor space.
A very good job for a hotel bar/restaurant that is currently open only from 5 pm to 9 pm. Shout out to Mike the bartender for his excellent service!
Delicious food and service was amazing!
I went here for a professional function, and walked away impressed beyond my high expectations because Ive heard ArtBar was nice. Its beyond nice, its phenomenal!! The appetizers were delicious! The drinks perfectly poured, and the staff super friendly! The view of Boston is gorgeous. Im planning on making ArtBar my hangout spot!
Avoid!
Wonderful riverside setting. Spectacular view of Boston. Great service. Unfortunately they play AWFUL MUSIC. Made me want to get out of there as soon as possible.
1st time at The ArtBar and we will definitely be back. Not only was the good great and views amazing...our server Ricky was the best!
Great staff and food. Good for outdoor dining!
Excellent meal and wait staff!
Good food.
My wife and I had a terrible experience at the Royal Sonesta and the manager treated us to dinner at ArtBar restaurant. I ordered the lamb burger with onion rings, when it arrived the bun had mold which I do not recall ordering. The burger was pulled from me before getting a chance to take a picture. They gave me a different bun, I said no thank you and we settled for chicken wings. Classy. Overall, our stay at the Royal Sonesta was a Royal garbage experience. I don t want to discourage people to go, I m just sharing what happened to us within the first TWO hours of being here. Nice hotel though.
I got the smoked salmon avocado toast and my friend got the chicken and waffles. They were both great and my friend even got a cute little hot sauce bottle with her chicken and waffles
Great place for dinner with a view. One of the few if not only restaurant with a view of the river and the Boston skyline. The hummus is great and so is the lamb burger!
Went here for brunch. Its a hotel bar inside Royale Sonesta. Good view of the Charles River to see Boston. About 3 TVs at the bar if you go and want to catch sports. Hopefully next time it will be warm enough that the outside dining will be available
More than Great service ! A very good food - price ratio and a beautiful view !
Delicious food and accommodating to a large party (25+)
