Visited Browns on Sunday night for Christmas dinner with my two young children. The setting and service were excellent. We had the festive set menu, whilst the food was delicious, the portions were rather small, and despite having a starter and a main I left hungry. I have no issue with paying a higher price for quality but it defeats the purpose if one leaves hungry. One small potato, two small carrots, and two slices of Turkey with a cocktail sausage were easily finished by my 9-year-old son.

Fantastic service and food for our large party of 50 people. Thank you so much to the team for making it another brilliant Christmas party for us. The food was delicious and hot and thank you for accommodating our last minute changes.

Came in for brunch, I understand that we were quite a large party, but we asked for tap water 3 different times before getting it, waited half an hour for our drinks to come, and a further 45 minutes for our food orders to get here.

Very pretty place but the service was awful. We had to ask three separate times for water for the table. A pot of tea took more than half an hour and our food an hour to arrive. Food was okay.

Food arrived really quickly, the bar area had a lovely ambiance We were only offered the set menu. Our server told us the service charge was not a tip and we could pay a tip separately in cash otherwise he would have to share with everyone else!!! I then showed my browns loyalty card apologising for not showing before paying and was told it was too late to add the booking to it. Wasn t a problem at the Ivy! Service was not bad but lacked friendliness and attentiveness and was quite shocked he asked for a separate tip

Visited Browns for a Bottomless brunch with friends. I opted for Bellinis and chose the chicken burger from the GF menu. Chicken was a little dry but generally good and drinks were good. Staff were friendly and very attentive. There was a grill directly above us, which I can only assume was a vent or something to do with the air con. It was completely full of crud and clearly had not been cleaned for a long time. I would still go back and visit Browns as the food, drinks and staff were lovely but would love to see the cleaning taken up a notch.

We went there today as a group of five. The service was too slow, coffees were cold the dining area had no heating on. Food came 40 minutes late and after we asked the server. It was so apparent that the food had sat in the kitchen for a long time as eggs were cold bacon was like a piece of plastic and when mentioned the manager said sausages take 17 minutes to cook! Such a wonderful place with so little to offer in terms of food and service. We did not eat the food and just left.

Visited Browns Cambridge last week as a Christmas Function, the food was amazing they catered for us very attentively. Originally had two tables of 9 then some dropped out and they then managed to get us all on one table, and it was super busy that day. They even welcomed the office dog Bonnie into the bar area where a couple of the group sat with her. First visit to browns and I have lived in the area 50 odd years, super place and I will be returning. Well Done guys super service.

What is going on at Brown s? We had a Sunday roast three tiny roast potatoes each no cauliflower cheese as on the menu not advised there wasn t any when we ordered or when the plates arrived. We did get given more food when we complained, but unfortunately was just more of the tasteless veg and potato.Tasteless bland slow service. I ve been coming here for years. It s always hit and miss but this visit was bad. It wasn t even busy we were served by four different members of staff and only when we caught their attention. You really need up your game on service and food sad it s such a great venue lovely building a great location .

We love a visit to Browns and last night we enjoyed a dinner for a family celebration. The bar team were fabulous, a young french girl and her British colleague. The bar & restaurant is often busy and it has a great vibe (although its a huge open plan dining space, I find the ambient noise pretty loud). The service at the table was ok. The lady looking after us was nice but my beer glass remained empty and plates didnt get cleared without promoting. She seemed keen to tidy an adjacent table that had already been vacated than looking after us. The food was decent but portions were noticibly smaller on this visit. My teenage boys both commented on that. I did get a nice happy birthday plate which was a nice touch. Although Browns was once a favourite place (especially on Sundays) I think well be trying out other dining options next time.

We had a late breakfast here, served until midday. Full English, Vegetarian and Eggs Royale were all delicious. Good quality ingredients, lovely setting, relaxed and welcoming staff. Food

We were seated in a nice quiet area which we requested but it was also a cold area. We ordered the chateau briand as a treat which was served with vegetables on a plate in the middle of the table. The whole dish was cold before wed started. A side dish was forgotten and we had to ask for it. We planned to follow up with a dessert but when we waited 20 mins for our plates to be cleared we gave up and decided to leave. The one course and 2 non-alcoholic drinks cost just over £100. A very disappointing experience for us as have been coming to the restaurant for over twenty years now. Food: Not the quality expected - should be served on hot plates. Staff: Very nice young people but lack table training and are not directed or managed. Value for money: None We are not complainers but felt you needed this feedback. Our experience has tarnished the Browns reputation in our eyes.

Large restaurant with an intimate feel. Varied menu, and delicious food. Waiting staff were frankly exceptional. Unhurried and an entirely enjoyable experience from the warm welcome to stepping back into the Cambridge evening.

Food was delicious! I ate from the lunch set menu. Really pleased to see the gluten-free options have increased, especially in the desserts. However, I would appreciate a specific Gluten-free set lunch menu, to help keep the costs lower and to help make it easier to navigate gluten free products available in the set menu. Shame there isnt a gluten-free chocolate brownie though. Service (Joy) was friendly, professional and consistent. Dietary restrictions: A specific gluten-free menu, that is delicious! A good set luch menu too.

We were a little early, but that was no problem. Our server tried to take our order by memory, but had to clarify our choices and ended up writing it down. When our mains were brought, I was given the wrong dish and one of the sides we ordered was late to the table. We then ordered liqueur coffees only to be told the coffee machine was broken. We ordered a sauternes instead and were informed this was sold out. Overall food was ok, but the mistakes and lack of availability of items was not acceptable. It would be helpful to advise of these things at the start.

Arrived at 4.45pm as pre-booked. Advised we had to order by 5pm as kitchen closing. Also advised 4 choices from main course not available. For dessert advised no cheese board available didnt have to ask for bill as that landed promptly. Not a great atmosphere as felt like they were clearing up and getting ready for next day. The food we had was really good. Disappointing as we were out for a special occasion.

We have visited Browns on 3 different occasions, and loved the fine dining food experience every time. Food has always been excellent, staff courteous (especially the Japanese lady doing part-time), and no one ever was pushy.

OK, so Ive officially had enough of Browns now. Once again, slow and sloppy service and too many mistakes. Even something as simple as poaching an egg properly is apparently out of their reach. Many better options in Cambridge for the same budget.

I cant complain the food was good but the menu was more or less the same as the Ivy.These eateries need to stop copying each other and have their own identity.

Piss poor cancelled our wedding breakfast meal with two weeks notice. Don t bother there are better places , with better customer care Food

Disapointed that only half of the main courses were available, pork, chicken, burgers, sea bass and lobster were all off the menu so difficult to choose from what was left when 2 of your choices were not available. Should of left and gone somewhere else as disappointing when celebrating an anniversary. Expected better from Browns. The interior is looking very tired and needs refurb, we were sitting on floor level tables for 2 on the right as you go in and I was looking at chipped skirting boards on the higher level. It was not busy only about 4 or 5 tables with mainly couples so ot would of been nice to of been seated in the middle of the restaurant where the seating was nicer. I have been to Browns many times over the years and this is the first time I have given negative feedback after all you do go to a restaurant to eat so to have 5 main courses off the menu is bad planning. Other people did sit at their table and then leave because of the limited menu. What I did find to order starter prawns and chorizo and main schnitzel and fries was very nicely cooked and tasty although it came with a fried egg and I do not eat eggs. Sorry Browns you let us down this time.

We recently had afternoon tea here for my daughters hen do. It was a sunday 3pm. We had to seek out staff a few times. For drinks and to take our orders, we had children ordering and some food allergies. Whilst the food was nice, the gluten-free choice was limited 3 finger sandwiches and 4 pots of mainly chocolate brownie type slop and very small portions. The staff were all lovely and helpful, but they definitely needed more help. The restaurant was clean and well decorated, there was lots of space so no chair bumping.

We came here for our wedding dinner and came back on our anniversary and the whole team were brilliant and made it a special evening for us. Grace who was taking care of us was absolutely excellent and our experience special.

We recently visited Browns and had a super time! The food was great, as it has been every time we visit. The waitress, Savannah, was so attentive, she had a real nothing is too much trouble attitude, especially when we mentioned that we were in Cambridge for the weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary.

The service was great, the food was good and menu choices were different and on the hottest day of the year it was nice and cool!
