Novi Kitchen + Bar in Cambridge

We visited Novi as a group of 12, having booked a week in advance, but unfortunately, the experience left us disappointed. Firstly, despite the limited menu, two items were unavailable, and the Korean chicken was only sufficient for six people. This was frustrating, especially given we had made a prior reservation for a large group. Additionally, service was slow due to being short-staffed; our chips arrived well after the main courses, which disrupted the dining experience. As for the food, the chicken was extremely dry, and the pork chop, priced at £16, was not up to expectations in terms of flavor or quality. Given the price point, we anticipated a much better standard. The waiter, though clearly stressed, was unable to provide clear answers to our questions and frequently used the excuse of not usually working at Novi. While we understand staffing challenges, a calmer and more professional approach would have been appreciated. Overall, the evening fell far short of expectations. For the price we paid, we could have had a better, more consistent experience at a more affordable restaurant like Nandos. We hope Novi takes this feedback on board to improve both their menu availability and service standards.

I had my 30th birthday party last night in the middle floor function room. The staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect - they were so attentive. The cocktails and atmosphere were absolutely wonderful and I am so grateful to Novi for giving us all the best night to remember! Thank you so much!

Service was so poor, got our order wrong and never apologised, took so long for them to take our order yet alone give us the menus, did not ask how our food was. Chicken waffle was dry and sriracha potatoes were dry. Do not recommend this restaurant at all.

Returned this week to give the place another go, but unfortunately, I left disappointed once again. The service is incredibly slow, and the staff seem uninterested in attending to customers. The door staff are the only friendly ones; everyone else inside is, quite frankly, rude. It s a shame, as the venue itself is lovely, but for the price, there are certainly better options in the city.

We were seated at the back area by the kitchen .. the fabric seats were absolutely filthy stained & put me off my food! Why would you not get them cleaned - gross tbh .. staff continually banged the door when moving in & out - a bit bizarre tbh -eggs good, coffee nice enough

Asian manager is very rude and unprofessional. Novi was at one time one of the best bars in Cambridge. For the last three years it has plummeted In standing. Awful prices, awful staff = awful experience.

I ordered a simple flat white. Not only was it a bad flat white with weird coffee grounds on the bottom but the waitress spilled half of it and just said oops heres a new saucer. Terrible service.

Service and atmosphere is great! But for a wine and cocktail bar the cocktails are rank. They are pre made and extremely sweet - they have that fake taste to them which is really disappointing. I asked for one of the cocktails and just asked if change the spirit from bourbon to gin and its not possible because they are premixed. I tried 3 different cocktails all tasted rank. Lovely venue and the staff were very good!

Food look good for the 45 minutes that we sat there waiting to have our order filled. We knew there was something wrong after half an hour and they haven t brought our drinks. Staff were more concerned in taking about straightening their hair serving customers.

I booked a cocktail masterclass here for my hen do and I couldn t recommend it enough! Alex lead the masterclass and he was brilliant! Such a relaxed and good atmosphere, we all thoroughly enjoyed it!

The servers were so hospital and nice. The etonmess and the paperita drinks were of the chart. I enjoyed them a lot. Also, the food there was so delicious that I have to eat more than I anticipated. I had a wondrous experience there.

Arrived to the establishment and things were going well, the waiter approached our table and unfortunately due to two unexpected pregnancys we were two guests down, ohhh now the waiter was not a happy bunny with this, if looks could kill- we understand that this means they re down £80 but not our fault the pull out technique didn t work on these occasions. Now we move on the food, well let s just say the options were limited, and what they did offer was absolutely vile - it was dry as a nuns vagina, it was tasteless and I had severe diarrhoea after. And now on to the drinks - or lack off should I say. God forbid someone comes that doesn t like Morreti or Prosecco because what else are they going to have - shocking. £40 down the drain - could have got a 0.5 with that. Will not be returning

We visited Novi to get something to eat before the theatre performance. My wife is vegetarian, and we asked the waitress for a suggestion. She (I think her name was Megan) was very helpful and advised a few things. My wife decided to get Chargrilled flat bread (Coal roasted beetroot humus, crispy chickpeas) and she was extremely satisfied. I also selected vegetarian option (Buffalo cauliflower wings) and it was also good decision. The portion are not big, but satisfying and priced appropriate. We matched the food with two different flavours of white wines, and had a lovely meal. Vegetarian options: Good selection of non-meat food.

Food was absolutely amazing!! Wide choice of delicious plates to choose from and so much flavour in every single one. Service was relaxed but attentive, cocktails were really different and top notch, honestly couldn t fault it. Thanks for a fab evening.

Had an absolutely beautiful Too Good To Go bag from Novi this week. It included a delicious (and I emphasise that it was absolutely stunning) brownie, two large cookies and a BLT focaccia. All the food was amazing, and I ate it over the next couple of days, with the brownie staying as delicious as I would assume it would be fresh. This also comes with the caveat that I am (evidently not the most consistent) vegetarian, but am personally happy to eat the BLT since it stops food waste. Made a great lunch, though the height of the sandwich due to the focaccia did make eating somewhat challenging... Service was friendly and fast, no issues. I always love the atmosphere even when walking past in the evening, so I will definitely return as a customer this Summer. Looking forward to more!

Great, seems to have settled since the refurb. This bar is an off centre mix of casual coffee with your pet?, to the place to be for drinks and dinner in a group. Could do with some more individual seating. the group tables are not ideal for this solo customer.

What has happened to this fantastic venue? My family has supported this business since Day 1, but this place has really gone down hill. The attitude towards customers is appalling, the quality of food is terrible and the overall atmosphere is non existent. I highly recommend to go elsewhere in town. Service

We celebrated my sisters birthday here and the service, food, and care from the staff was unparalleled. They helped us surprise her with candles & a cake and we had a great time. The food was delicious and the bathrooms were lovely too!

Personally I ve always enjoyed this place since it was opened! Great food including really fun and diverse vegetarian options! Vegetarian options really deserve extra mention since in most places they re a boring afterthought but not here. The location is beautiful, I love it, especially when it s getting warm. I m not drinking anymore so I can t comment drinks but I remember that cocktails were good when this place opened and I still thought alcohol was a good idea haha Vegetarian options: One of the best places in town for vegetarians!

We came in here for Sunday breakfast this past weekend. Having had some disappointing hotel breakfasts we were keen for something different & better - we lucked out. The vibe is cool & trendy, but still comfortable. The fella serving was attentive & friendly, went out of his way to discuss the menu & give recommendations. Turns out we probably could have picked anything as the food was amazing. I had the Turkish eggs which were superb, my wife has the eggs & mushrooms, and my son the avocado on toast, both declared them a triumph. They dont just do plain dishes, they add a little more flavour and interest which elevates them. The bill was v reasonable, and we took a chance to look at the evening menu which had us committing to come back another time for cocktails and dinner. Cant recommend this place enough.

A vibrant and interesting venue for all to enjoy. A good selection of cooked and cold dishes presented in a very attractive style. The menu caters for imaginatively described dishes for discerning customers including vegetarian and vegan, and at competitive prices.There is also a good alcohol and soft drinks list and a well stocked bar There is a definite difference between the casual snack area and the more formal dining area which caters to customers who reserve their dining time. The quality can be seen from the fact that both locals and visitors thronged in and many tables were already reserved. The staff seemed to have some confusion over available seating when we only required a simple snack and we were asked to change our table twice. After that the service was pleasant and efficient.

Came in with my daughter and doggy for Mothers Day. Really dog friendly, she got lots of fuss. Lovely cocktails and desserts and the lady Sofia who served us was ever so welcoming and friendly :)

I love brunch here. Service is great. Make sure you get a cookie on your way out - theyre delicious too!

Me and my husband Boris decided to come here for brunch. Boris was served pink chicken which the chef assured us was cooked, and I was served a plate of mush. I would just like to let the chef know he needs to adjust his eyeballs because Boris has unfortunately been on the toilet very frequently and I do not like the sounds coming out of him, they sound like the loudest burps I have ever heard but they are coming out of his bottom! Personally I don t think mush should be an option on the menu because it s not a popular texture. We will not be returning and do not recommend anyone else does, unless you are an enjoyer of raw chicken and mush.

First of all we would like to thank the whole team for their craft a shift, creativity, professional and friendly behaviour. When we arrived at NYE there was a small fire in the kitchen. Therefore we ve been told there will be no food served anymore this evening. We were having a drink or two at the bar and then the chef came to us to inform us that we can have our booked table. The food and drinks was second to none. Highly recommend the team and drinks. Please try out the garlic Wodka drink and the shawarma. Simply awesome. Thanks again. Will definitely come back. Vegetarian options: Simply second to none. My wife is vegetarian and she was fascinated. Parking: Difficult. But speak to the team they can arrange something. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to enter. Staff is helping and supporting.

Brilliant brunch spot! Fun ambience with lots of natural light and good amount of seating. Staff is above and beyond friendly and welcoming! Food is delicious (especially the southern friend chicken+waffle and the cookies -out of this world!) and filling. Will definitely be returning!

Really good brunch here. Taylor or waiter was very attentive and polite. The coffee is excellent as is the avocado toast and apple crumble waffle. Great that you can book as a lot of places do not allow booking for brunch. I ve been two weeks in a row now - this will become a regular spot!

Nice food (would have liked more vegan options), very nice cocktails. But main purpose of this review is to shoutout one staff member in particular. I didn t get his name but he has mid-length, straight blond hair and was wearing a red checkered shirt. Anyway, he was so super friendly and cheerful, just really nice to interact with him and seemed actively keen to make our experience as nice as possible!

Bad service. We decided to go for the bottomless brunch and the waitress tried to end it half an hour earlier for no reason, they should have checked the time when we started it. They made us feel very uncomfortable. One of the waiters accidentally spilled some beer on my husbands shirt and after all the bad experience we didnt want to pay for the service charge and they also complained about this. I wouldnt recommend this place.

Lovely location, Ella was very welcoming and looked after us well. I had the scrambled eggs (First item on the brunch menu)and my wife had the salt beef sandwich,both were beautifully presented and were delicious. I washed mine down with a Berry cider recommended by Ella and found it the perfect accompaniment. The open front offered a lovely view of Regent street, a great place for people watching. We will definitely return on our next visit to Cambridge.

Great place, good vibes. Best for a few drinks before going out. For reference I ve only been on a Friday night. Very chill, big tables and everyone is really friendly (including the customers and bar staff!) many good nights had here. Cocktails are average £10 I think which is standard for Cambridge. They also do Hazy Jane on tap. Very good beer.

novi is for sure one of the best places to eat & drink in Cambridge. I enjoyed the croquette, bao buns and prawn skewers, followed by pannacotta. All delicious- so much flavour in all the parts of the dishes-and also lovely to look at. Drinks menu and service is always super too, thank you.

Its my first day in cambridge as a student and i have to say that this was a great introduction. Great place to eat with family and friends and I have to say that Charlie (the bartender) was very attentive and nice, giving me advice to go around the city and any other information that I required.

Me and my friend came for a nice meal and I feel awful but I can t remember the name of our waiter, I can only describe his as having a cool man bun, anyway he was amazing and super attentive to our table. Couldn t complain about any service or food and definitely recommend for a nice night out

Fabulous meal, fabulous service

Enjoyed brunch in a relaxed atmosphere. Front opens to street view, giving it a bit of an outdoor/street cafe vibe. Interesting menu without being too exotic or pretentious. Sausage with mustard had pleasing kick and the potatoes had crispy exterior and fluffy inside. Parmesan cheese on scramble was finely shredded making attractive presentation that was also tasty. Not at all crowded on a late Thursday morning.

Although usually Im satisfied with the service at Novi, this time I was quite disappointed. I had a reservation for 12 people and we were offered the big table at the front which was already occupied by another gentleman who was having his drink and I had to politely ask him to leave from our table causing an awkward situation for us. This could have been avoided if they actually had put a reserved table sign on the table or if he was asked politely to leave by the staff and not myself. Regarding the food, I ordered a cheese and meat platter which barely had any meat or cheese and had mostly crackers and therefore it wasnt very fulfilling. The drinks and the atmosphere were alright.

Wonderful service and helpful staff, fabulous coffee, music not to our taste, wee bit loud but would definitely come again.

Great brunch and drinks

I took the family out on Sunday for brunch and decided to try this place for the first time. The place was not busy and we were able to get a table. The menu is sparse and poorly labelled. Vegetarian or meat dishes are not clearly labelled and the staff are clueless as to the contents of each dish. This confusion resulted in a Turkish eggs dish being ordered which contained meat. This was only discovered when one of our party tasted the dish and was horrified at the ingredients. Novi refused to prepare a non meat dish unless the first meal was paid for. This was quite shoddy service. It was 2 eggs after all! Reluctantly this was agreed too as our party had young children who were already eating. The replacement dish was bland, poorly cooked and barely edible. The tea served in a pot was barely enough for 1 cup. The restaurant purports to be a new minimalist place to eat but in reality it was minimalist in the food, service and drink. We could not wait to leave. Overall a poor experience and a place to avoid as there is a lot of places to choose to eat in the area.

Very bad experience all-over!! Avoid this place!! staff were angry unwelcome and made our guests feel uncomfortable. I should ve read these reviews before I booked!! My 40th birthday was ruined. When I expressed my concern they blamed me instead of trying to help. I ve spent £1,200+ £150 + 20% vat I will not be coming here again. Live and Learn!

Excellent food, friendly helpful staff in a great looking venue.

I wasn t allowed in as they said there was an issue with eyescan, not only have I never used this ID before as it s brand new but they weren t able to provide where I had been barred from (which is upon a second opinion standard in the eyescan software) very poor security team and slightly agresive. Free my mans. An hour later I went there to ask about my ban, and hey told me they were unable to double scan my id, I will accept this even though they already had scanned my ID twice. I understand I might be mildly intoxicated but even then I still feel somewhat unheard and unjustifiably barred from this establishment.

Really lovely anniversary dinner, chilled experience, loads of food, but no rush at all. Eyes bigger that our appetite mind you, take it one step at a time!

This place has awesome food and good service! Its not great service, but its better than what Ive come to expect in Cambridge. If you want great tasting food from their limited, but well done, menu give this place a try. Yoshi and his team will definitely take care of you!

I cannot rate Novi enough! Their staff, in particular Ausrine the Events Manager has been so accommodating and helpful. We hosted a networking event on the top floor, the space was perfect and the bar staff were great too. In fact everyone was accommodating and friendly at all times and I would highly recommend this space for your event needs. Also, its a local run company not a chain, extra bonus!

The food was good, but the service was super slow (dont consider busyness a valid excuse in a restaurant). Our order wasnt placed in the system right away for whatever reason and so we spent half an hour waiting for an order that wasnt coming. Not impressed. Also rather on the expensive side, in particular the coffees, which werent particularly good.

Worst experience I have ever seen in my life, done by manager of novi..on Saturday night me and friends been there for drinks, drinks was good but the behaviour of Asian manager was terrible. Thank you very much for being proud yourself to be manager showing your terrible attitude at novi..

I booked novi for a bottomless brunch for my 21st birthday, there was around 12 of us for this on a Sunday, the service was great, we had one waitress who explained everything to each guest, she gave us amazing service and replaced the Prosecco pretty much as soon as we had finished it, we even got sparklers put in the first bottles of Prosecco which was a really nice touch. The brunch was great and gave us loads of food options, everyone really enjoyed the food here and the atmosphere was really lovely. Thank you for a great birthday!

In terms of bars open past 12 this is probably one of the best choices.

Theyve refurbed and its pretty nice but not a lot of seating downstairs for small groups. I had the Kentucky ice tea cocktail and it was really good, I love Bourbon but usually dont like the kind of cocktails that are made with it. The staff were nice as well, we were upstairs in the outdoor area

What a weird experience. SO me and my wife attended yesterday for a cocktail. There was a short weird security guard, literally blocking the entrance to the door. He clearly does not know what he is doing - I say this as I have worked in security for 30 years. A little tip small man, say hi, hello, how are you and dont block a door! There are various reasons for this, but I can not be bothered in giving advice. Anyway, when I went outside for a smoke. He was literally stood farting, beltching, burping, picking his nose and just been gross. I really can not come back to Novi again. If you select people like that to work for you, it reflects on your standards. A little tip to avoid hostility/fights to the little man, would be just be polite stand away from the door to allow people to enter/exit, this really is not rocket science and trust me, I have 3 decades of experience. But the above behaviour is deplorable. In fact sick. I know the staff, management wont do anything or even speak to the cretin about the above. ***EDIT*** reply from the owner. I can not change my rating. You bave chosen the security, you are aware this reflects on your business. You could could choose better. If it was poor food from a butcher you sold, whos fault it it? It it still yours. That vermin that was working on Thurs should not be on a door. Also, if it was my bar and I saw a security guard stood and BLOCKING the door from enter and entrance. I would go and speak with them, give them instuctions where to stand and guess what...say hello Sir/Madam, have a lovely night, good bye. When you have vermin on the door, like Thursday, people walk past and some will be thinking, should they enter. Do you think it is welcoming then if the whold door is blocked, so you can not even enter without saying, excuse me so he can move out the way. You are experienced enougth and you would have been to bars/clubs to know what good and bad security is. You have chosen this and you have also accepted these sub-standards that have been provided. If it was my bar and I got this feedback, I would not have that vermin back. Is that the look, feel, atmosphere you want to project, a scruffy, short, rude, agressive, security guy, farting, belching and picking his nose? At the end of the day, the first thing people see when they leave and enter is that. So dont put the blame onto others. Guess what, I recieved a Sainsburys food order today, one item was sub-par, you know what I did? I sent it back. You are paying the security company, so you can choose who you want, or how they should dress, behave, conduct themselves. On a side note, the security at Revs have and look professional (as a comparison). Is it the same company (I have no idea) but as I say, we both know what good security should be and frankly, his belching, farting, rudeness and guess what blocking YOUR possible customers (MONEY) from wanting to enter or enter, is your own fault.

Great decor, good atmosphere, really good coffee, cookies and cakes... The more alcoholic options arent bad either. Food is well above average.

Went for a party and the staff were brilliant and drinks fantastic.

Stopped for coffee & cookie. Coffee cold, waited 10 minutes for them to remake but they were too wrapped up in making new customers cocktails. Not a great place! Had to pay for cookies & left. Will never return

Private party in the upstairs bar was great. We were well looked at after and the food was different but in a good way. Service was always attentive.

The food and service were fine. Disgusting toilets. All 3 toilets in gents were overflowing.

Visited here for the first time with family. The food was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. The waffle maker was broken but the rarebit was still nice with the sourdough toast. I also had the iced matcha latte with coconut milk which was also nice. Vegetarian options: Good options for veggies and a few options for vegans.

Lovely spot for a late night cocktail!
