Nanna Mexico has three principles that guide us today: Buy fresh, Cook simple, Waste nothing. It is with these principles, and our original recipes, that we bring Nanna’s Mexico to the UK in one authentic piece. The smells, colours and textures of nanna’s kitchen are alive in our restaurants and are part of the family legacy we share with our customers everyday.
Honestly the best burrito I’ve ever had. Fries were fresh and crispy. But a little pricey with adding ingredients
Quick delivery within 30 mins. However, the actual burrito was underwhelming, very bland and hardly any filling. Plain rice, black beans and lettuce, with abit of salty chicken. Would have been better with some cheese, flavoured rice, salsa and guacamole etc. The salsa that came with the tortilla chips tastes watery and the homemade cheese sauce was lumpy. Ordered minstrels, but maltesers were delivered. Wouldn’t return, sorry.
Amazing good quality fresh food as always :) We ordered for collection and they were really quick despite having a party upstairs, we travel from Saffron Walden just to get takeaway here that’s how good it is! As well as the food being soooo tasty it’s nice to have a takeaway that’s not full of preservatives and rubbish. Also don’t understand the reviews saying it’s over priced lol considering it’s an independent family business I’d say it’s underpriced if anything. 10/10
This isn’t just food—it’s a spiritual awakening wrapped in a tortilla. One bite of their chicken Tinga, and you’re somewhere else entirely. Each bite is pure magic. The vibe here is spot-on. The staff greet you like an old friend, and the whole place has that lively, bustling energy you’d expect to find on a street corner in Mexico City. It’s a proper “holy trinity” of excellent food, warm people, and an unbeatable atmosphere. This isn’t your average boring Mexican chain; it’s burrito divinity. Prepare for a taste experience that’ll leave you absolutely blown away.
Food is one of if not the best in Cambridgshire let alone Cambridge. You gt food really fast and it's made right in front of you. Lastly the atmosphere is great with music and the amazing seating.
I used to love this place, since my first time in Cambridge 10 years ago. The quality of the food was great and so it was the staff, very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, now things have changed dramatically. Starting with the food, it doesn't taste fresh and delicious anymore, is more like a tasteless mix squeezed inside a burrito. The nachos, which before were always fresh, now taste stale and old. Most of the staff is not trained properly, it is very young people which are most likely at their first experience, they are not able to welcome the costumers properly and they simply put together a mediocre burrito which easily falls a part. After eating there a few times some months back, I had stomach problems, which I don't know if they were caused by poor the quality of the food or the lack of hygiene from the untrained staff (unfortunately I have seen them occasionally handling money or cards and then prepare food). The price is too much for the quality of the food and the experience, perhaps the quantity is okay. It is sad, but after my last visit I am sure I am not going to be eating there anymore. There are much better and safer options you can choose from in the city centre.
This is closer to a 3.5/5 for me - the pricing is definitely on the pricier side, but there is a 10% discount for students. The food is also nice, but nothing crazy in terms of flavour. The portions are also mid - neither small nor big. Huge bonus though: they serve halal chicken (but have no other halal options)
Juicy Burritos The shop has quite a lot of protein options. Chicken with or without chorizo, beef, pork belly, pulled pork and lamb. We ordered 2 burritos. The staff were very efficient therefore we did not wait long. The meat was very tender, juicy and seasoned. So well prepared. If you have high standard in the protein filling of a sandwich, this will be the shop for you.
Some of the best Mexican food I have had and really fresh and well seasoned products. Although, the food is quite pricy for the amount you get, there is a student discount of 10%. Overall, I definitely recommend trying out this homely and culturally decorated restaurant with delicious food.
Awful. Cold. The worst burrito bowl iv ever had. Rice, hardly any chicken, lettuce and a bit of cheese. I was honestly shocked when I opened the box. Food
Cold, under-seasoned & overpriced
Even doesnt deserve my words...
Really nice service, average prices and food is good but lack a bit of flavour. Some music upstairs could help creating a better atmosphere.
Best Mexican food in Cambridge
Rude and incompetent experience
Best burrito in town
Ordered via Uber eats. Trying as recommended by my friend. Sadly very disappointed. Tried the beef big ass burrito and carnitas baby burrito which tbh were very similar in size. Very much lacking in flavour and plain salty, idk how you managed to do this. Also oily. What a waste of money. You re better off ordering from the bigger chains in town.
Really good and fair priced Kid-friendliness: Really nice student discounts Food : 5/5 |
Delicious burritos & very friendly staff, the Monday student deal is such a bargain
This is a takeaway not a restaurant. Staff not very friendly.
I use to love this place, but my visit yesterday changed that. Unfortunately yesterday, after consuming my order I became unwell. I would avoid this place, food hygiene is clearly an issue. Product quality has gone down hill swell.
Amazing food and great space and service
Amazing service, the staff were very nice and explained us the menu very well. The food was very good as well, great food for all types of taste. Love it, will definitely come back.
We went recently and ordered two burrittos which were delicious and the best ive tried, especially as you can choose everything you want with much variety, aswell as a peaceful seating upstairs. Will come again 100%
The only good things we got at this place was tap water and the paper tissues.
Best burrito in town! Todays staff was amazing specially Oybek, Nano and Aya. Great service and super affordable prices, they also had a lot of deals during the week.
Great deals for students on Mondays.
Half tinga half chicken with nacho cheese sauce was literally the best burrito Ive ever had
My burrito was a bit bland. I have had better in the big chains, but the staff was really pleasant.. Cheap price though no cant really argue.
The burritos are very good although they also have many other options, the girls were very friendly. The terrace is small but the place inside is large and has two floors.
We reccently used the services of Nanna Mexico for our companys town hall and couldnt be happier! The food arrived in a timely manor, was perfectly laid out, well presented and very organised. The food was incredible! Luis was incredibly helpful in setting everything up and even helping staff members in making tacos. I stepped away to speak to Luis and by the time I came back most of our food had been eaten up! I couldnt reccomend nanna mexico enough, especially if you have a company event. I will absolutely be using them again in the future. Thanks again all :D
Best Mexican food in Cambridge, very speedy, polite staff and plenty of room upstairs to eat
We went on a Monday, coinciding with Student Mondays and we ate 3 people for 18 pounds. The burritos are quite large and delicious. Everything had a lot of cilantro, if you dont like it, let us know when ordering. It has a terrace and a first floor.
Got a great burrito today from Nanna, service was amazing, lady called Dalma made my day helping me pick the burrito and offering discounts
I go every week - great food for great price! So much better than Tortilla. Half Tinga + Half Chicken with Chipotle sauce is the greatest combo!
Service is good and the student discount helps lower the price. The food was mediocre, the carnitas and toppings were good but the tortilla should have been heated up slightly as it was cold and sticking to my teeth.
The food was delicious and cheap. Also the place is very clean and organised and the staff were very friendly.
Decent food. Fresh, tasty and fairly cheap!
Great food, my kids were very enthusiastic about it when I took them there.
The veggie burritos need better options, we had the peppers - the jack fruit option wasnt appealing, which along with rice, were really oily and salty. It was a pretty sorry experience all round, please do better.
Nanna Mexico never fails to provide delicious food and wonderful service. Ill keep coming back for a burrito, a side of fries and a brownie for as long as I live in Cambridge!
This is my favourite place to eat in in Cambridge. Fast service, reasonable prices, tables to sit at, and you see what you get.
Very tasty mexican food. Big portions with fresh and juicy ingredients! I didnt like mexican food especially burrito but this place changed my mind. Will visit again and again!
Californian here, and I previously lived in Mexico City for a few months. One of the biggest things I miss about living in the west / southwest of the U.S. is the amazing Mexican food. Love Cambridge so much, but the struggle is real to find a legit burrito. Went here for the first time recently and got the veggie burrito. It was really decent, and probably on par with Chipotle or Rubio Grill (Tex Mex) from the states. So, certainly by no means authentic , but the overall taste was respectable as compared to most generic US tex mex. The staff were also super friendly. By British Mexican food standards, would give this place a solid 4 stars. I d probably come back again if I m feeling really homesick!
Everytime I go to Cambridge for the day I make a stop here. Love the food, its always filling and good value for money.
The best thing about this place are the staff! Foods good but can get the same at other places, its the staff that makes the difference!
Don t accept assistant dog
It is probably the best place to enjoy your burrito in Cambridge and i highly recommend this place because the staff are very friendly and the ambience is very inviting and you can actually feel the vibe and the authenticity of the mexican foods. I tried the chicken burrito which was recommended by Aya one of the lovely staff who made my burrito and i will probably recommend it to my friends and i am surely coming back to try the different flavours.
If you are gluten free, DO NOT eat here!
Nice Burrito and quesadilla but the chips are extremely salty for me, plenty of seats upstairs to escape the crowds.
It was probably the best burrito Ive ever had. Highly recommended. I went for the pork belly large burrito, and it was also around £9 which is a bargain. Food
Everything is spot on, apart from the seating area upstairs was freezing . Need to have that heating on in the winter please. Vegetarian options: Plenty of options available
Polite staff, delicious food
Nice spot right outside the grand arcade indoor mall, we almost didn t see it. Typical chipotle style set up. Food is super delicious. Wish they served barbacoa everyday not just weekends.
Great food with nice informal seating upstairs
The burrito tasted horrible and gave me diarrhea and expensive in my opinion for that
3 skinny barely cooked churros with a rock hard pot of Nutella... WOULDNT BUY AGAIN! Shame as the rest of the menu and the food i saw infront of me looked amazing. Both the ladies serving food were rude and had no customer service training on how to talk to people.
Carnitas burrito is excellent
A real sausage factory where the staff repeat the same mantra, Rice and beans. They are bored and unmotivated. The food produced, despite asking for a spicy sauce, was bland and dull. Both myself and my dining partner used to love this place. We wont be back.
Just what youd expect, quick food & service, nothing special.
I had a pork belly burrito and it was great!! I would definitely have it again! Only thing I wasnt a big fan are the tortilla chips as they taste quite generic, like the stuff you can get at the store really cheap. However, this place is really good and way more tasteful than other tex mex places in town.
Amazing food
Good food, ok price considering, but never enough rice! More please! :)
Burritos are fire. Theme is nice
Chunk burritos with lots of filling! Great tasting, reasonably priced. Id go back.
Delicious, you definitely have to try the Mexican drinks they have available so lovely personal favourite is mandarin
If youre in the mood for a quick bite or a full meal, this place has got you covered! The menu has a great variety of options and the food is delicious. Definitely worth a visit!
Tasty burritos in a cozy restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: Ordering - yes, dine-in - no. Food : 5/5 |
Really nice food with a story. Only thing I m sad about is that cheese, sour cream etc are for extra, i didn t know about it and forgot to add my favourite components.
Shame, my food was great, however the person with me had the most disgusting beef we ve both ever tried. Seemed low grade, and for the price they offer dreadful, and from the other reviews this seems to be a trend.
One vege quesadilla and one vegan quesadilla. Delicious! Friendly and helpful staff. Nothing to dislike at all.
Great food, reasonable prices, fresh ingredients and helpful and nice staff. Five stars from me!
Juicy and tasty Tinga (chicken and chorizo with smoky chipotle sauce) burrito. Love the spiciness as well. Staff was friendly and efficient.
Had the nachos with half spicy jackfruit and half peppers, was lovely
Delicious food!
Quantity of the food is really good, however the quality is just alright. Got the spicy jackfruit burrito and chicken quesadillas. The rice in the burrito were mushy and the chicken was quite bland even after asking for hot. The spicy jackfruit filling was tasty though.
Great food!
Decent burritos but nothing special
Brilliant food
I ordered from Deliveroo. It was horrible. The chicken quesadillas were 80percent empty. The portion size of the chicken burrito bowl was very small for what they charge. No flavor! I couldnt attach a picture in Deliveroo review so writing it here again. Very disappointed. I hope the same standards were maintained while delivering.
Burritos Which are delicious. Caters for meat eaters through to vegetarian and I want to say vegan, there are meal deals available. The food is super fresh, so tasty and its also good value as the burritos are enormous. Friendly and helpful staff and a small upstairs dining area make this a reliable and wholesome place to grab a bite on the go in Cambridge.
Really delicious food. Absolutely devouring the mexico city tacos like no one way watching made me happier than I have been in a while!
I love coming to Nanna Mexico, Ive been a big fan ever since they launched all those years ago. The quality is superb. Amazing value for money! And great choices of fillings. The atmosphere in the restaurant is so relaxing too with traditional and modern Mexican music playing in the background. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves Mexican food!
A pretty good mexican restaurant in Cambridge.
Nipped in yesterday. Quick service, great food. Will deffo be in there again
It has been ages since I have been truly disappointed with my experience eating out. To be fair the food was okay. Not great but average for a Mexican restaurant. The thing that disappointed me was the cost and the need to pay extra for guacamole! What?? It should be noted that for an authentic mexican fruit drink it costs more than two regular cans of pop each! I appreciate that the cost of rental at that location is high but for £27 for 2 people for 2 burritos and 2 bottles of juice...I think its extortionate. Maybe some tourists are happy to pay but for a day out with my daughter it was an unpleasant experience. I had always wanted to try the food at this place but will not be going back.
Had a really nice burrito, would recommend for authentic Mexican food
This place is ok as a fast-food but it is not ok as a traditional Mexican place. The plates are very small and the taste is good but not delicious.
Amazing burritos
Fantastic tacos - my fav was the carnitas. Lovely staff. A definite must-have while in Cambridge!
Food was lovely but the lady working at the till had huge, fake, pink nails on and wrapped my burrito without gloves. This is so un-hygienic Im surprised people who are preparing are allowed to have such long nails, her nails were digging into my burrito-gross!
One of the best Mexican tortilla place in Cambridge. Both the meat and the vegetarian (Jackfruit!) option are really tasteful! Upstairs there is also a nice seeting area where you can enjoy your tortilla. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available. They have jackfruit!
I would definitely recommend to go for the tacos! This a good local business with good flavours
The most perfect burritos in Cambridge.
Always friendly and quick food, well worth the price
This is a build your burrito, taco, type place.
Excellent quality food, excellent service.
I have been there a few times already. I have also ordered from this store online. The food quality has drastically dropped since my first visit. Also the toilet is not well maintained.
Went here for dinner and was somewhat disappointed with the food. The burrito was lacking flavour (rice was literally plain boiled rice for example) and anything to inject a little bit of taste was extra (veggies). The loaded fries were literally cheesy chips. The decor was rustic, to the point of being a little dangerous (speakers about to fall out of the ceiling). Quesadillas were passable, but again lacked any real Mexican inspired flavour. Wouldnt visit again unfortunately.
I like this place, easy, quick food. You know what you are getting. I managed to get a seat. Was very busy when we left.
I was there today the service was amazing, we came in a rush hour me and my friend they were two lovely girls that served us well with a big simle in their face! it was an amazing experience i would definitely be back there.
Burrito was absolutely delicious, I had tinga chicken and was very impressed. We got an order of nachos to share and was disappointed as the chips and most of the cheese was not heated at all, there was chips with grated chrese and then a small amount of runny cheese. The restaurant itself was very cold, we sat upstairs and really needed some heat. I would absolutely go back though, the burrito was fantastic
Basic eating facilities, food was good. The proprietor was not really affable, but hey ho!
Best in Cambridge, good service and food, my go to for a deliveroo, favourite restaurant
Great food and consistently good. Only issue I have there is the rush when taking and going through the orders. Its as if the world is ending and they cant wait. Portions are good but sometimes some staff gives more sometimes its hardly noticeable especially with tomatoes and salsa. Highly recommended but staff needs to calm down and serve everyone with time. We love it , friendly staff and good atmosphere !!
Food good. Price a bit much. Staff disinterested.
That was fair decent burrito, I wouldnt call their spicy sauce spicy but I only consider something spicy if Im crying while eating it. Would recommend.
The quintessential burrito place in Cambridge . Also many student discount. Service is quick. Friendly staff. Recommended!
I order of Uber and loced the food best nacos ever and recyclable packaging and large portions asked for some extra cheese sauce in a pot and they happily gave me some for my chios. Marked as one of my favourites to order from!
Quick and easy. Food could do with a bit more spice personally. The margarita was amazing!
Very standard burrito, nothing overly special at all. Good for a quick bite
Their burritos are so nice and filling. Their staff are also really friendly and polite. Great restaurant
Flavourless burrito with a barely edible tortilla. Dont waste your time.
First burrito will not have rice next time
Place is nice but was underwhelmed by the food. The chips were in need of a bit of cheese and salsa on them! Please can the servers also wear gloves. Good if youre starving only
Great burritos that are full of flavour. I opted for a burrito bowl and my only quibble was that the portion was small, both for the money and for my appetite.
update: cannot come here ever again; hygiene is abysmal. server sneezed ON THE FOOD and kept making peoples food. saw this and walked out immediately. as an American this absolutely hits the spot and is the closest thing to American style Mexican food I can find here when Im having a craving. the tortillas are great, fillings are spot on, and have a+ veg options. excellent guacamole for the UK.
Burrito was very nice & filling, however, they forgot my beef Dining in for a quick bite & it s nice for that. Could do with more source options.
It s a shame I didn t take more photos, but I was too busy enjoying the food! I love my tacos, and Nanna Mexico do them superbly. Tried both the Carnitas and belly pork and will come back for more! Looking forward to trying more of what they have to offer! A must visit
We went for breakfast, ordered breakfast burritos with coffee and went looking for a table. All fine and nothing too complicated, right? Well, not at this place. ... Sorry, no coffee, was the next comment 10 minutes later. I mean, they open for breakfast, take our order and then tell us that there is no coffee? OK, tea then? No, no tea either. Anything? Yeah, lemonade. - And of course they charged us 25% more for our breakfast - because it came with lemonade! Incredible!!! Well, two of their three shops in Cambridge are already closed. Please close the third too, if you cannot run it, would be my suggestion.
Havent been since before COVID 19. Still serving delicous food and fast. Thank you
First time at Nanna Mexico. Nice, jam packed burrito, great tasting. Staff were very friendly and made the food efficiently. Sat upstairs which is a bit cramped but had a nice atmosphere. Parking: Its Cambridge, parking is expensive!
Really friendly and polite staff, great food, good portions.
I gave it a star because the staff was friendly and the place was clean. But I didnt find the food delicious, nor was it cheap. The burrito didnt taste like anything, the sauce they gave me with the nachos was something diluted with water. Im sorry but I wouldnt return to this place, I feel a little disappointed.
My favourite food in Cambridge
Great Nachos and Tacos
I really loved the food. It was refreshing to have some flavourful food after all the blandness (if you know what I mean)
Absolutely fantastic burritos and loaded fries: so many options to choose from and reasonably priced, particularly for the portion sizes.
Amazing Mexican, pretty adorable, and really customisable. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and there is plenty of space upstairs.
Nice and well served burritos.
Delicious! Frozen margaritas were good too. Would visit again
Very tasty and the portions are very nice !
I had a pork belly burrito, it was delicious.
Yumm- great place to eat and cheap too
Good experience and good food they had air conditioning a hot day also
Overall ok. Fast service so if you are in rush perfect place. Kind of Subway style of ordering just with Mexican ingredients. Food ok for reasonable price these days. Kid-friendliness: No options for kids unless i missed something. Plain chips not on the menu. Some loaded chips for exceptional price of over £8. Lucly request for plain chips was fulfilled. Staff a bit confused as did not know how to charge. At the end given free chips so overall they pulled it ok.
it tastes great and is well priced
18 quid for nachos and a water is too much
This is such an amazing little gem, we loved our lunch, so tasty, freshly made by lovely fresh ingredients by friendly staff, highly recommended
Every time we come to Cambridge we get a burrito here, and they are delicious, fresh and filling every time. Staff are friendly and theres a nice drink selection too. Keep it up
Like eating in Mexico. delicious
Big queues, small wait. Staff quickly deal with orders, food tastes amazing.
Nanna Mexico used to be one of our favourite places around 5 years ago. We were excited to return but the food was really disappointing. We both ordered the spicy salsa but the burritos were both completely bland and tasteless with no flavour whatsoever. One of the worst burritos I ve ever tasted and it was fairly expensive. Also one of the servers seemed quite ill and was having an extended coughing fit next to the open food whilst even handling the food without gloves.
Tasteless food Dont get nachos its a waste
Delicious Mexican food, fast service also despite the line
Great burrito and vibe. Thanks for lunch!
Fresh flavours and good food, very tasty!
Burrito was mostly beans and came with little to no sauce (didnt realise you had to add sauce as an extra). Would be willing to try again.
Polite staff, good burrito. A bit cramped on space, would do with larger windows to main street.
Good Mexican food. Tasty with quality and variety.
Really great food, quick and friendly service
The menu is basically limited to burritos with your choice of fillings but they are very good burritos. The staff is always friendly and the place is excellent for both eat in or take out just be advised seating is limited if youre planning on dining in.
I was bad attended. Absolutely very service!
gorgeous
Beautiful Mexican food, good variety and high quality, quick and friendly service, and a perfect place upstairs to sit and enjoy your quesadilla or bigass burrito! I honestly cant understand why there are such enormous queues to some dull American-style tortilla place on a neighbouring street, when there is a lovely Nanna Mexico just round the corner!
I have been a loyal customer for a long time, every time I order the same thing, the price is always different, and no matter how many times I try to explain to them, they give me no other solution than to pay what they ask. The portion is too small for the price I pay. For the lack of communication with the staff and the food portions, I will not return.
First time ever trying mexican food.
Beautiful burritos and very nice service We will be back!
Great place great food great staff decent prices
Rude service - was about to come and get a table to sit down and was questioned why we were sitting down without ordering. The whole experience put us off actually ordering food after this so we went to Tortilla opposite instead.
Rubbish bland burrito I had. Wanted to give it a try over Tortilla across the street which is way better. The burrito was filled primarily with low quality rice and boiled bland veggies, no sour cream and guacamole for extra price as usual.
Great burritos. Big and filling. Good variety.
Good mexican food! Every Time Im on Cambridge Ill go here
Best burritos in Cambridge. The guy who made my burrito, i think his name was Alberto, was very polite. He should get promoted!
Unfortunately both the Burritos and Nachos we ordered were disappointing & underwhelming. The beef and pork burritos tasted very similar and bland. Unexpected!
Classic Cambridge eatery. Upstairs has all the atmosphere of a service station McDonalds. Although to be fair they have tried - theres only so much you can do with what the landlord gives you. Enjoy the vibes of the Spotify Premium ads as theyre using the free version. Make sure to get napkins as there isnt any cutlery and they serve sides like guacamole and lettuce. For takeaway: food is quite nice. Pulled pork very tasty in particular. Pretty good burritos as they go. Chips nice.
The layout of the counter and till has been redesigned to make the flow, through the ordering process, much easier and more straight forward. The food is, and has always been, fantastic and incredibly tasty. After one and a half years of working in the hospital basement, and pretty much being at work or at home, the first place I have been since restrictions have been eased is Nanna Mexico. Their burrito, and Jarrito cola was worth the wait. We have never been disappointed with Nanna Mexico.
