This is a little gem, food was great, staff were brilliant , had a very family feel in the restaurant and felt very welcome, would absolutely recommend and will be going back, this is my new favourite Italian restaurant.

We were offered a welcoming short wine tasting by a brilliant young sommelier and learned about four new-to-us wines! This was free! We then started with the friarelli -- a dish Ive only ever had in Italy -- turnip greens sautéed in olive oil and garlic -- fresh and delicious. Next was the pappardelle with country mushrooms and Tuscan sausage in a cream sauce -- velvety and unctuous! The Lord Orly pizza with a thin, crispy crust, spicy njuda tomato sauce, anchovies and olives might be one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten (although I tried the Larda Bianca and that is also delicious!) Our Barolo wine, a Valipocelli was a very wise choice (sommelier advice) to accompany the pizza -- it was strong, with a balance of tannins and dark fruit. We ended with the dessert Nutella Bella with chocolate hazelnut spread generously across the pizza dough. The service was warm and friendly, the Patron, Maurizio, was welcoming and the atmosphere genial. I think Maurizios is my new favourite Cambridge restaurant!

I cant begin to express how delighted I am with this experience, from the moment I walked in and was greeted by a joyfull and precious young lady, to the food being served in what can only be described as record time and being so delicious. Wonderful experience and would definitely return here.

The absolute kindest staff! We were there to celebrate a birthday and the whole team made us feel right at home there- we were so appreciative. Highly recommend for a fun night in Cambridge with relaxed atmosphere and delicious food!

Really weird experience. A while after ordering, we were told our group of 6 was too big, had ordered too many pasta dishes (5), and we needed to order a sharing pasta instead. With different dietary requirements and tastes, this didnt work for us. We couldnt understand why we needed to do this, and there was no warning on the menu or when our order was being taken. After several rounds of back and forth with the waiting staff (they were doing their best), we were told that the owner was adamant that we couldnt order 5 different mains, then later that if we really insisted they were willing to do it, but it would be at least a 45 minute wait. Wed already waited a while at this point so paid for our drinks and left. Still dont understand what happened, its not a tiny restaurant so making five dishes shouldnt be unreasonable? We were the only table sat in our section on a Saturday evening, so expected better service. Edit: for the avoidance of doubt, I want to clarify that the wait time quoted wasnt the issue for us, it was just the final straw particularly given how it was delivered (if youre really insistent on having different dishes...). If we had been told before/when ordering (or shortly after) that there would be a wait as the owner suggests, it would have been fine. We really took issue with being told 2-3 times that it was impossible to have what we originally ordered. That conversation had already taken a long time and the experience had been soured, which is why we didnt want to wait longer. There were so many opportunities to explain the options we had that were missed and resulted in us feeling really confused and let down.

Visited with a friend on a Saturday evening (22 June) as several friends/colleagues had recommended it. We had high hopes and were looking forward to visiting. I dont usually post reviews but got to say we were extremely unimpressed. We arrived about 8.30pm and were shown to a table and given menus. We were then abandoned/ignored for around 25 minutes. Nobody came to take a drinks/food order, despite it being quiet - most other people had already eaten. We tried getting the waitresses attention and even shouted over but were still ignored. We were about to leave when the waitress eventually came to take our food order. We had to point out that we still wanted drinks as she only offered to take food orders. The food then arrived very quickly. We ordered a garlic bread pizza as a starter but our mains (two pasta dishes) arrived without any mention of the garlic bread, which we eventually received as an addition to the mains rather than a starter. The food wasnt good - the pasta tasted like it was out of a packet with a sauce quickly thrown on it. Both mains were served on a pizza-type plate rather than bowl so the presentation was also unimpressive. We both said we could have made the meal ourselves at home for a fraction of the price. In fact, the olives were the best part of the meal. We quickly finished and ordered the bill. It overall had a kids left in charge feel to it - very unprofessional and amateurish, to say its not exactly the cheapest of restaurants. It was not what we were expecting. The images of food on the website are very different to what we were served so maybe it was a particularly bad day. We certainly wont be returning and have informed our other friends/colleagues that its very much gone down hill. There are plenty of better options in the Mill Road area, Beduoin is a particular favourite.

Were so glad we skipped the restaurants in town and choose this delightful Italian restaurant on Mills Road. The food was authentic and delicious - possibly the best pizza weve ever had! The staff were warm and friendly and the Italian chef made everyone feel special. We totally recommend this restaurant.

Me and my husband waited 45 mins for two margherita pizzas, olives and green salad. We ordered sparkling water which wasnt available at the restaurant. We ordered at 19:00 and there was no food until second waitress noticed asked us whether we ordered and told her 40 mins ago. The pizza came burnt not charred, nothing special. Tomato sauce is too thick. (tasting too puree like) The salad and olives was ok. The second waitress was nice enough to deduct service charge and apologised from us.

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Maurizios celebrating one of our birthdays. Our hostess was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the dinner service, offering us advice and help with unfamiliar menu items. Despite leaving past closing time, she even offered us all free limoncello shots upon finding out the occassion. As for the food, the la larda bianca pizza and seasonal gnocchi special(which I hope will become a permanent menu item) were exquisite, achieving a rare feat of both perfect texture and incredible taste. As loyal customers of Maurizios for the last 1.5 years, we have never had a bad experience and it was this outstanding display of both culinary skill and customer service that prompted us to write this review. It is difficult to imagine a better pizzeria than Maurizios who, in our opinion, serves nothing less than the finest pizza in all of Cambridge.

Unfortunately this wasn t a good experience. I love Italian food and had some expectations but this was a disappointing visit with below average food. The food in general didn t taste good, my pizza was extremely average to poor with a floppy base and low quality sauce, my friends pizza couldn t be more average , so yes, not the best. Our green salad was boarder-line awful, with a terrible dressing with a very low quality balsamic / olive oil and a very poor mix of ingredients including olives which had almost disintegrated into a fermented mess. With two glasses of (very average - sorry) house wine it cost over 60 pounds and we felt very shortchanged. The waitress was quite patronising as well. We spotted a mistake when we received the bill and they didn t acknowledge it. Rather, she ignored it when we asked about it and insisted that it s correct. But when we were about to pay, she took the money off and charged the correct amount. Why not just admit your mistake!? Overall very disappointing!

Authentic Italian food in Cambridge that never disappoints!

The food was absolutely delicious and definitely a good spot to eat at when visiting Cambridge, the service was amazing and we were pleasantly surprised to see that an 18 year old young man cooked our food. He definitely has potential to be an exquisite chef at fancy restaurants. Vegetarian options: The were loads of vegetarian options for those who don t eat meat :)

We (my sister and myself) and our friends, father and daughter arrived at the restaurant for our Dining Club meal, when we were all seated we ordered our drinks, five bottles of Moretti Zero Alcohol beers and a bottle of San Pellegrino Sparkling Bottled Water, for our Starter we shared a Antipasti Board of Prosciutto, Salami, Grissini Bread sticks, wedges of Ciabatta and slices of Parmesan Cheese, for our Mains, we had ordered a Lord Orli Pizza for the father, gorgonzola cheese, homemade tomato sauce, nduja, anchovy fillets, capers, olives, and fried garlic, the daughter a Proscuitto and Funghi Pizza, mozzarella chesse, tomato sauce and Gran Biscotto Ham and cooked mushrooms, and my sister and I had Italian Stallion Pizzas, mozzarella cheese, and three more cheeses, tomato sauce, guanciale (crispy pigs cheek and black pepper, for dessert, we had a tiramisu for the father, for the daughter, a gelati (ice cream) of chocolate and vanilla, and for my sister and myself two ice creams of Pistachio and vanilla. We had a best pizzas in the town. I personally think is a doudh its a main ingredient in the pizza, and Maurizio is make it absolutely perfect. We had Italian, Beefy and Lord Orli, and all of them been great. Also we been look after, Lisa been keep eye and been really helpful with a menu, and been on time, she looks young, but looks like she know, what shes doing. Overall, we had a pleasant time, and had a really nice tasty food.Btw, artichoke and garlic is absolutely killer, is one of the best starters we ever had. Its light and its so powerful and tasty. Thank you guys, will visit again.

The only thing I regret is that We havent found this restaurant sooner. My daughter collected a takeaway order for us and it was fantastic. I ordered a beef ragu pasta and I can confidently say that it was the best Ive had in Cambridge in the past 10 years. We ordered two pizzas as well and they were amazing. Maurizio makes fresh pizza dough and homemade pizza sauce,and you can definitely taste the difference to other italian restaurants like Zizzi that use frozen dough. Maurizio is our new holy grail. We can definitely recommend !

A most enjoyable experience - Liza was outstanding. We enjoyed the house wine and mixed meats and cheeses selection. Looking forward to coming back for a wine tasting.

Authentic, tasty and absolutely mas bona y belisimo

To sum up: - pricey pizzas: £18+ for a Regina (when you add the service charge at the end). - pizzas are big, but they taste OK-ish. - service is awful, long waiting time and pressure to buy drinks - CHECK YOUR BILL, they added a dodgy £6 item in ours. Long story: The atmosphere is quite there, you really feel like youre not in Cambridge anymore, which is really nice. The pizzas have a medium thin crust, the tomato base is good. But I found that the ingredients were scarce. They could have easily doubled the amount of onions and beef on my beef pizza, and they could have added easily 30% more cheese. Overall, they are OK-ish, they fall flat a bit. The size of the pizza however, is surprisingly big, which is a good point I guess. Im being picky on the ingredients because of the insame prices of the pizzas. When you add up the service charge (not included in the prices on the menu), the regina pizza is more than £18 to give you an example. And the service is awful. We were pressured to order drinks, pressured to order fast. We have waited about 1h on our table before having the pizzas served. And finally, please, CHECK YOUR BILLS! They have added a dodgy £6 item that we did not order in the bill!! Then they assume that you will tip them at the end, on top of the service charge, so ask to be charged the right exact amount on your card!

We went twice without a reservation and they did not accept our admission. Yesterday we went again without a reservation and to our surprise they had no problem serving us. This is kind of confusing! The place is very nice. The staff took good care of us, very friendly. But the food took us almost half an hour, I understand that there were 7 pizzas but the wait was long. The pizzas are delicious, but they are not Wow The approximate price for each pizza is £15, which I thought was a bit expensive.

What a gem of a place this Italian restaurant is. The staff were so attentive and they really looked after me and my sister. I couldnt have asked for more. We had a sharing platter to start with which was amazing and then pizzas for our main which were to die for. Honestly the pizzas tasted just like what you would get in Italy. There was an Abba tribute band on after and they were just brilliant. Two girls and they rocked the place. I absolutely love this place and will be going back again.

What an amazing place for Italian food on Mill road. I have been here a few times, the last time was a few weeks back. Maurizio is such a great host and the food hereplace never disappoints. This time we tried the dirty bread and it looks simple but is delicious. We went for the specials based on the recommendation and even got a special that was off the menu. A pleasant little surprise was when Maurizio suddenly turned up with some extra guanciale for the pasta just because!. Dessert was great too.. it was something I never tried before, it was a disc with dried fruits dusted with sugar and served with a lovely dessert wine. Fantastic food and service. Looking forward to going back again soon and some more guanciale!

Not the best experience for dinner. Visited with a group of three of us and service was very slow despite being quite empty. Our food came before our drinks and when the drinks turned up it was only one of the things wed ordered. Quite overpriced for the size of the food and service charge is automatically added.

Pretty average Im afraid and a little on the expensive side. I was looking forward to an Aperol Spritz but decided against it when I saw it was £10. The service was very friendly but a bit slow and disorganised. I was therefore a bit annoyed when service was automatically added on. It should be the customers choice whether to leave a tip or not. (I know we could ask for it to be removed but who wants to be that person?)

We called up as it was close to closing time just to check if there was any chance we could still get a meal. The head waitress kindly held the kitchen open for longer for us. Not only this but the food as always was amazing, easily one of if not the best pizza restaurant in Cambridge.

Lovely Italian restaurant with a family ambiance. We had some pizza and pasta, starting with a bruschetta. All of it was delicious. Staff were friendly and I loved watching the chef make our pizza while dancing to some tunes on the radio. Good vibes

I do recommend this restaurant for almost every ocassion. It is usually crowded by young people and students but still an excellent option if looking for good ambience. I have used the takeaway service quite a lot of times and I can assure that nor the quality of the servings or the service gets compromised. Be back soon!

The food was great just like the atmosphere. The atmosphere could be a bit more Authentic Italian but overall a good vibe. For the pizza s there weren t many options I fancied but they have a large selection of pizza s and some pasta s aswell. Dessert was awesome aswell and we even got limoncello on the house (they do it almost all the time so give it a try). But where this restaurant really shines is the helpfulness and the friendliness of the staff. We mainly got served by Lisa and we had such an amazing conversation and she had the best energy I ever felt. She was the sweetest and treated you with upmost care and basically like family. If you re around go here, have a nice pizza and a cocktail and make sure you chat to the servers if the restaurant is not too busy!!

Buonissimo! Leave convention behind and enjoy a genuine Italian experience. This is not a restaurant - it is an Apertivo bar which means you drink as much as you eat and you take a long time over it. There will be a few home cooked main courses, but sharing a number of planks is a much better way to enjoy the excellent selection of Italian wines. Maurizio is a great host. Parking: Mill Road is not a place to bring a car. If you need to, use the Queen Anne Terrace car park. Its only a short walk along Mill Road from there.

Worst mulled wine I ve ever had and for £5!

The owner of the restaurant was rather rude to a group of people, who seemed to be part of a performance, she was also rude to me and my friend. We were asked to leave very abruptly, to what no-one seemed to offer resistance, and pushed while we were gathering and picking up our coats and belongings, while being intimidated by a group of individuals who seemed to be family/staff/regulars, I don t know, but they appeared to be permitted to stay after the bar was being emptied. They definitely had the complicity of the owner. She however, motivated these youngsters to be openly aggressive in the premises, to the remaining customers, including me and and my friends. She definitely did nothing to stop it happening. I must said I didn t hear any foul language or witness aggressive behaviour from any of the customers but I did from the staff. The people who had previously been threatening us were then prompted to chase some people in the street after they left from the door. At this point we left as they started shouting at us and we feared for ourselves. But didn t know until now someone actually got assaulted, I m appalled by it. I suppose this is part of their policy on We don t condone any form of violence and equally we re not responsible for what happens once you ve left the premises but will shout from the door while our staff/family/regulars beat you up. The guys, who were incredibly drunk, were clearly allowed by the owner to be threatening. It was my first time there and I must say that it was scariest night I ever had in Cambridge! The response given by the owner seems incredibly cynical when someone got physically assaulted. Independently of what could had happened earlier. Awful behaviour.

Last night I went to Maurizios for an evening event with music and drinks. The night started well I bought a number of drinks and me and my friends were having a good time. Later in the evening the owner/Mum of the business came up to me and was like who are you?! Why are you here . And asked me to leave which I said I would straight away. As I was waiting she proceeded to be really rude and start talking to other guests behind my back and pointing My friend was in the toilet and I just waiting for her and then leaving. The whole family then became really hostile as we were leaving, baring in mind we had done NOTHING wrong and had been good guests all night, and bought lots of drinks. As I left 2 guys from the event tried to fight me and intimidate me. Which was super scary. They also chased another of my friends down the road and hit him, he now has ice on his face and arm?!?! The whole family are cracked out and super rude. The pizza is good, it s just a shame the restaurant is ran by the wannabe Mafia. 1/5 don t go unless you wna get intimidated, spoken about and beat up. EDIT: I didn t use ANY foul language and I didn t knock anything off your counter. I was nothing but respectful to everyone. The crazy mother/owner is super toxic and riled everyone up for no reason. The only reason I refused to leave was because I was trying to get my friend out the toilet and obviously wasn t going to leave her in the establishment with a bunch of psychos. My friend is filing a police report after being assaulted. Well done! EDIT 2.0: we didn t expect so much drama the drama was instigated by your staff so I don t see how it was unexpected. It s lovely to see you being so professional online! A shame your staff are not like that in person after a couple of drinks.

One of the best pizza bases Ive tasted in a long time :)

I absolutely love Maurizio s! Both Maurizio and Sweet are the perfect hosts, paying attention to detail and always upbeat and welcoming. The food is great and the atmosphere is lively. Myself and my family love this place - highly recommended! The Nutella pizza is my favourite! And I always enjoy the fresh pasta options. I d like to see some more vegan fresh pasta options but otherwise it s a 10/10 from me, see you again soon, ciao!

This is the best pizza I have eaten in Cambridge. Everything is good. Maybe a tiny bit pricy, but I can work with that. The staff are either excellent actors or else they are really into what that are doing! Please keep it up

By far the best Italian restaurant in Cambridge head and shoulders above its competitors further up on Mill Road let alone the ones in the city centre. Pizzas and pastas all amazing as are the specials, desserts and wines. Maurizio and Sweet are amazing hosts and the place has a real family and community feel to it. More people are discovering this though so you generally need to book in advance to get a table on weekends!

We went a few weeks ago and we had a great time. Pizza and tiramisu were amazing and the staff was lovely! We will repeat soon

Incredible food as always, but the service tonight was pretty terrible. Opening a bottle of sparkling wine and not bringing any glasses until youre chased 10 mins later isnt ok. Not bringing out any food at all for the first hour until youre chased isnt ok. A great kitchen is being let down by a poor front of house which has no experienced leadership. Sort it out.

Service was friendly, warm and hilarious! Food was really good too - really recommend the La Larda Blanca pizza and the tomato and guanciale pasta. The atmosphere is very relaxed as well. Thanks for an amazing evening!

It was our first time eating in this restaurant, we ordered Margherita and Pepperoni, we looooved the food and simple as that, Maurizio became our favourite restaurant Probably the best pizza I ever had, plus I really enjoyed the lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and clean environment. Tasty, fresh Italian food made by actual Italians who understand the importance of authentic, fresh ingredients. Fair prices and very friendly staff, I would definitely visit again.

Amazing Italian food and wine, friendly service would highly recommend!

After waiting nearly an hour to be served cold pasta on cold plates, I approached the owner to ask how much longer we had to wait and if the plates would be warm! He became very abusive, swearing and ordered us to leave. I am 71yrs old and never have I been treated like this. So glad we never need to return!

Welcome back to R&Hs crazy food reviews. This time we espressoed our interest in Italian cuisine by heading to Maurizio Dining & Co. The ambiance was perfect, with candle lit tables and a rustic atmosphere. The service was decent but we found ourselves waiting on drinks and the bill. The food was decently priced for Cambridge, with a pepperoni pizza costing us £14. Finally, the food was fine but nothing particularly amazing, wouldnt recommend it to pizza fans. Ive left several Google reviews in the past few years, often claiming that the food is great. But wow, I feel like I need to alter stars on other reviews as never have I been to somewhere so welcoming and experienced the most incredible food. From the minute we entered the restaurant, Maurizio was so welcoming and took time to come and chat to us even though we later learnt that he spends time in the kitchen too. He introduced us to his homemade tomato sauce and chilli relish about 3 minutes after stepping through the door. I actually felt as though I was visiting family, I was made to feel so comfortable. We chose bruschetta and the dirty bread for starters. I would never in a million years chosen the dirty bread, but Maurizio sold it so well with the homemade tomato sauce and chilli relish - no regrets, would highly recommend. The special of the day was tortellini in the homemade tomato sauce, which my partner opted for and I went for an easy cheasy with mushrooms and olives - both fantastic and very tasty. To top it all off we couldnt leave without trying the chocolate salame (homemade, of course - theres a running theme here!), Which was outstanding! To Maurizio, your partner and your team... We had such a wonderful evening and when next in the area we will be sure to return. The photos really do not do this food justice. P.s. the new team are doing just great Vegetarian options: Jam packed with veggie and vegan options, dont sweat it

Best Italian experience in Cambridge, both food and service.

I want to commend Maurizio Dining & Co for the absolutely stellar meal me and a few friends had here about a week ago. This place has a very authentic feel and really impressed me and my friends. We had a delicious antipasti board to start and it really did not disappoint. I dont like eating tomatoes but I couldnt help myself - they were just too delicious. They have changed my opinion on tomatoes forever. For mains, each member of our party got a pizza each. My god, this pizza was good. Like seriously, after a slice or two we were looking around one another basically like is this the best pizza weve ever had? I honestly have to say I think it was. I could sense there was a lot of pressure in the restaurant that night (it was a Saturday and we could see just how many takeaway deliveries were coming in), but we want to throw our hands up and say the whole team did an incredible job. You guys were wonderful hosts, and I cannot wait to trip up to Cambridge and grab a pizza again!

Fabulous handmade pizza with roasted garlic and parma ham salad. Absolutely delicious ! Lovely people who went out of their way to set up a table outside for us when they were just getting ready to open.

I had the vegana garlic pizza. The texture of the base was perfectly crispy with a truly delicious topping. I dont eat loads of pizza but this was fantastic. Outdoor seating was a nice touch, shame the road is so loud but I would repeat the whole experience.

We tried their pizza and, although I cant say ingredients were bad, the dough was. No structure, no leavening, and an overall unpleasant experience. The bruschetta was prepared with their home-made bread, which unfortunately is disappointing as well. Even the garlic looked old and shredded rather than cut. The service was good, the price reasonable and the venue clean, but I dont think I will give them another chance.

Their cheesy easy is the perfect order in for a night of comfort food and yumminess. The cheeses are all of an excellent quality, the texture of the pizza dough perfect and the taste utterly divine! Their chill out is also nice with a delicious home made tomato sauce base sprinkled with capers and chilli. Im in heaven
