Grafton Centre, Cambridge CB1 1PS, United Kingdom
Crispy, Light, Fast We are unique! We call it a skinny pizza because of how light it is, each bite offers a crunch followed by flavours bursting into your mouth! Flam-kuche is a yeast-free, mega thin, mega tasty flatbread from the East of France and we are the first UK Brand specialising in this delectable dish.
Excellent lunchtime small goats cheese, beetroot and caramelised onion flatbread for lunch! Tucked away at the back of the Grafton Centre, it's well worth passing the larger chains to enjoy something different from Amélie. Highly recommended and I'll return on my next visit to Cambridge.
This little restaurant would be "street good" if it was outside, but it has proper seating inside the Grafton, just opposite the cinema. This is a truly unique place, the only one in Cambridge that has Flammekueche on the menu (or whatever spelling they may choose for this famous Alsatian dish to adapt to the English; it is also called Tarte flambée in French). Please understand: this is not pizza! Yes, the restaurant uses this term (probably to better fit what people here know), and they even offer a red, tomato-based sauce like on a pizza (for the same reason). You can't blame them: they need to sell covers to the public that has no idea what this dish is. And I read reviews here that call it 'pizza' as a result.... The Flammekueche is a very attractive dish, with white (cream based) sauce and a completely different dough. A variety of savoury toppings are on the menu, very wide choice, and most are delicious. I highly recommend this to you, both the dish concept and the Amelie environment and their pretty good rendering of Flammekueche.
The thin crust meant that it didn't feel too filling, it had a generous amount of toppings with lots of flavour. The cajan chicken also had lots of flavour in the coating. The smoothies were refreshing and the customer service was really good. Lots of smiles :). Love the aesthetic of the place, will come back again 100%
Pretty expensive for what you get. Fried squid was nothing special. Everyone talks about these "dirty fries" but they were just a bunch of fries, I don't get the hype. The Flam-kuche was fine, but again, super expensive for a meal that isn't likely to fill you up. Service was surprisingly slow given that there were only 1-2 other customers the entire time we were there. Also, the place is exposed to the mall, which means you're gunna be hearing crying babies and mall music the whole time.
We stopped by with 30 min to kill before the cinema. Staff were happy for us to just have a drink. Service was friendly, the drinks were fine and the food other tables were having looked good. We’d eat there next time as the pizzas looked very good, freshly cooked in the pizza oven.
They managed to create a nice atmosphere around this little food truck inside the grafton. The food was good. The price is not the cheapest but if you have little kids, they will eat for free which make it very cheap then. In general, the staff was nice and friendly but the person who served us didn't seem to enjoy what she was doing and you could feel it. This is why I don’t give 5 stars.
Mediocre pizza... not worth the prize!!! Pizza were baked fresh on order but the crest was extremely thin being sold as skinny pizza. Wasn't fulfilling at all for the prize we paid. Ordered beetroot salad with goat cheese. Beets came out of a can assembled on some rocket leaves and goat cheese, and tasted bland. Also, ordered hummus which was a complete waste since it was previously made with few drops of olive oil drizzled on it. I won't go back to this place.
I went so many times since the restaurant open last summer. This is a really nice place to have a coffee, a lunch, a dinner with your friends, family or even a date. The staff is really friendly and the food really tasty. The quality of the product is something really appreciate as a customer. The price are not expensive (from £6.50 to £11 a flammekuech). So if you want to try French food and to be in a good atmosphere, you definitely need to go there.
Gave me a Cold coffee and when i asked for a new one it was luke warm at best. Absolutely terrible service but at least it was clean.
Gave my nan a cold coffee and when she asked for a new hot one, she only got a luke warm one. Service was good though and very clean.
Oh God this lemon grass smoothie is amazing , food is very tasty . I love it here
Very rude about taking off the service charge. Wouldnt go back because of that
Hidden gem. Great dough. Good ingredients (the cheese really has flavour). Very good service (issued separate bills when we only asked to pay separately). Cosy. The only downside is the lack of customers, at least when I went. Give it a try!
First time try thin pizza here. It was very right and bit overpriced as the pizza itself was small size. However, the waitors communicated will and care us. Food : 3/5
My wife and I are up in Cambridge for a couple of days. Whilst waiting for our film at the Vue we wanted a quick bite to eat. We found this lively little place right opposite the Vue and looking at the menu it was really inviting. Unfortunately the sandwich I was after was not avalible as they had run out of Brisket. So we for a couple of the small Flam-Kuche (skinny pizzas). We ordered the goats cheese one with a spiced cream sauce base and the pulled pork shoulder with the traditional tomato base. We were not wait long for these to arrive and my god they were really nice. We did go half and half so got to enjoy them both. This is a busy little place which to me shows it is a popular place to eat. I would totally recommend giving here a try and see for yourselves. Sorry there are no pictures, I was enjoying the food to much to remember. Only thing we felt it could do with is a little background music.
Great tasting food (the flam-kuche are brilliant) and really quick service too.
Fries 10 out of 10 asked for Mayo got ketchup instead. Restaurant wasn t that busy. 4-5 tables taken. Asked for large mozzarella basil tomamto pizza. They put cheddar instead no sign of mozzarella at all! Had to scrap out the cheese so I was left with tomato sos and pastry or tortilla ( whatever they use) there were 4 small cocktail tomatoes (not even wine tomatoes) just basic ones and 3 small leaves of basil one big joke if you ask me! Shocking quality. I didn t eat for 5 hrs and I m pregnant so I haven t actually complained - but I should have gutted that I didn t ! one big joke honestly grafton Cambridge around 5ish paid 27 quid with two juices - was worth it 18ish max
We went here today (not our first choice as we hadn t heard of it before) 2 adults and a toddler , however it was gorgeous! We would definitely visit again. Kid-friendliness: Our toddler ate for free. The choices were amazing and he really enjoyed it.
Good food and reasonable pricing. It is on an open space in a mall.
Nice pizzas, thin and light to eat. The loaded fries were also delicious.
absolutely delicious!! credit to the kitchen staff!! was lovely and open planned, most definitely coming back!
Food was disappointing. Due to the pizza base being so thin they arent cooked for very long, this resulted in raw onion which was pretty much the overall flavour. Dirty fries not particularly pleasant and salad choices are poor if you dont like Feta. Refill drinks are overpriced as the glasses are small so I had to ask for 2 refills. Would prefer a pint and no refill. Oddly they were unable to split the bill and added a 12.5% charge for service.
One of the best places to eat in Cambridge. Food is not only original (they are not pizza, they are Flam-kuche), it is also very taste and very high quality. The owners are just great people worried to provide the best service and quality to their product. The location is also great inside the Grafton. One of my favourite places indeed. Parking: Again, you can use the Grafton car park. Kid-friendliness: Familiar place, kids can draw the food van paper and later on stick their piece of art in the actual van. Wheelchair accessibility: Takes advantage of the Grafton facilities and the elevator can take you to the restaurant quite easily.
Really impressed! I was intending to take two kids to bella italia for lunch but ended up at amelie rather than wait for a table. We were spoken to straight away, the service was very friendly and helpful. One of the kids that was with us has allergies but they were to accommodate us all, double checked ingredients for me and we even get pudding !! (Often rare with allergies) It is a little on the pricey side but I think its warranted for how fresh and high quality the food is. Well definitely be back. Dietary restrictions: Pizza is made fresh so they were able to make GF to order Kid-friendliness: One kid with various allergies and one thats just fussy, everyone was happy!
The flatbread pizzas were lovely but very dear given their size and that theyre flatbreads.
Incredible food and smoothies. Quick service and friendly staff.
Not great, table was dirty when we sat down even though it wasn t busy & waitress was standing around. I had Garlic prawns & there were only 5 or 6 which for £9.45 was not good value. Skinny Pizzas again in my opinion not worth the money. Coffees are one size in a very small cup for £2.75 & no option to choose small or large. Bit of a rip off! £50 for three of us for a light lunch & a 12.5% service charge added on without any option! Won t be going back
Loved it. Great food, great portions and lovely service. Recommended.
Salad is really lovely.
Something different, you should try!
Nice place to have either lunch or dinner. Staff is very friendly. It is cozy and spacious.
This place which i accidentally got to experience is one of the best in the city... We tried their Mushroom Flammekueche and slow cooked beef brisket Flammekueche which tasted great... But the star of the meal was definitely the dirty fries we ordered... I highly recommend anyone visiting this place to try it...cheers...
Best thin pizza in the ENTIRE WORLD! genius ideas, we especially like the meal kits in the post as we can make them from home as a real treat. Such an amazing idea. the service is always excellent. I would highly recommend.
The food is amazing and the waitress saffron was very accommodating too! Will be back
My order arrived pretty burnt unfortunately, everything else was lovely, but for my order being partly inedible Ive taken off two stars
Wafer thin pizza, not worth the price. Large pizza is barely enough for a person, much better options nearby.
Brilliant place to eat with a diverse menu that has everything you could ever need
I had a medium beef brisket pizza and dirty fries. Even though it had chillies and I opted for the spicy sauce base, it wasnt as hot as Id expected. But it was a good amount of food, and very tasty.
Best pizza I have eaten and fantastic service . Wish we had one down where we live . Keep up the great work
We booked a table for two and made our way into town especially, before a cinema trip, to find it closed and no cancellation on our booking. Very frustrating and staff seemingly couldn t care less. Thanks to Bella Italia over the way for accommodating us even though they were full knowing the circumstances we d just faced. Put me off ever trying there again with the lack of customer service we experienced.
Amazing pizza, incredible dirty fries shame the hummus was alittle tasteless but will definitely return. Medium portions and very filling. Staff great and helpful, Overall very happy
First visit and really impressed. Delicious pizza
Lovely ambiance, good food lovingly prepared. Very friendly service.
Excellent quality and service. (just a bit expensive)
Nice pizzas, excellent fries and free refills on many drinks. Would definitely go there again.
Lovely place! Great Service and high quality
Went in around 12.30 on Monday afternoon, the place was not busy. We found a table ourselves and went through the menu. We tried to get the attention of the only two members of staff we could see but were just ignored while they served the one or two other occupied tables. It was a hot day and the restaurant was very uncomfortable as it is directly underneath a clear part of the roof. We eventually got fed up being both hot and ignored and left without even placing an order.
Shocking! Be careful, if you take a bite to discover the food is off, they will charge you for the privilege!! First time my partner and I have eaten here. After taking a bite, he queried the freshness with the waitress, who said the fish was in fact from the day before. The chunks of Avocados where also brown. The waitress took the plate away and he was offered nothing more (wonderful customer service, not!) The bill arrived for full payment, which he asked to speak with the manager about. At first the Manager said she could reduce the bill by 50% because he had eaten some of it, which was laughable!! Then she said the food was fresh today , but the waitress had already confirmed it was not fresh!! So, the Manager said she could knock 80% off - final offer! Having being forced to pay 20% for food that was off, I m disgusted and leaving this review!! To be clear, I had a different dish, which was fine and paid full price for.
Crispy thin Pizza topped with delicious meat and sauce. Make sure to order one of their supercharged smoothies they are an absolute delight.
What a unique dining experience. Quality produce, cooked exceptionally well. Friendly efficient service would highly recommend over any of the chain venues. Support local this venue was highly recommended by Herbies diner so glad we came
Located in the Grafton mall, this atypical restaurant will serve you a fusion cuisine between traditional German Flammekueches and Italian pizzas, incorporating a few subtleties. I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the ingredients and the very affordable prices. The staff is also very nice and the decor is quite original for an indoor restaurant! I will happily come back whenever I have the chance to.
Both chefs licking fingers as food being prepared, wiping nose and running hands through hair. thats disgusting,
Beautiful setting at the Grafton! Love the food, fresh ingredients! The flammekueches are so thin and crispy, and so happy they have vegan cheese! Great service too! Je reviens toujours avec plaisir, merci beaucoup! :)
We ordered 3 flam kuchen and one of them with brisket meat. It was completely dry and awful. When I told the waitress, she just said ok. But she was al the time on her phone, so it was clear I was bothering her. And then they add automatically 12.5% service on the bill which I didnt notice. If I want to give a tip, I would like to decide that for myself. So if you want a meal with a very bad aftertaste, go to amelie. Of course I wont go again.
We only had Coffee here, but the Cappuccino is excellent, the staff are lovely and friendly and make you feel welcome even if you only want a coffee before going to the Cinema, my partner and I have vowed to return next time we re in Cambridge, we are going to explore all of the shops, (it was after closing time when we were there to see our evening film) We will definitely return to eat at Amelie Flam-Kuching, the dishes are all prepared fresh and you can see this because the kitchen is just behind the counter, just the delicious aroma of the food was making us hungry, and we cannot wait to sample their mouthwatering traditional Stone Baked Pizza next time we find ourselves in Cambridge, there is also a lovely retro shabby chic aesthetic to the restaurant which has the feel of eating outside, whilst indoors, this feeling is enhanced by the Mediterranean terrace style of the restaurant and the authentic Citroen HY van which serves as the coffee counter, on what we saw and smelled and the comments of other diners we would highly recommend the establishment, I will edit this review when we have been back to eat, and also include some decent photos so you can get more of a feel for it Julie
Such a gorgeous place, wonderful food and lovely service always!!!
Kindest, most helpful staff and owner when we asked about food allergies for our child.
An attempt to offer a unique dining experience that falls short of expectations. Overpriced, underwhelming and not worth the wait
Very good flamekueches, bringing back memories of Alsace. I highly recommend.
Perfect pizza, great pasta and beautiful salad. Fast friendly service, will be returning soon
Had wanted to try this place for a while but sadly was a bit disappointed. My flam kuche was burnt on the bottom corner. So was my sons. The service was friendly but not that great...we had to ask to put in a dessert order. It then sat waiting on the counter for 5 minutes. Plus there wss awful dance/rave music playing throughout our entire meal. For what it is, it was a little pricy. Not sure if I would come back, sorry.
If you are hesitating between Bella Italia and Amelie, don t! The food is great quality and the service is perfect :)
We tried the skinny Margherita pizza and it was pure joy! A must have! The ambience will make your day brighter too
Excellent food with excellent super friendly service at reasonable prices. Without doubt the best restaurant in the area. One more regular patron !
Lovely friendly service and the food was delicious. Try it, you wont be disappointed .
Nice lunch with the kids, delighted with the kids menu and the friendly service
delicious, fresh and hot food, great service, affordable prices and do not require a stupid NHS application
I absolutely love this place
Amazing food, was pleasantly surprised, staff very friendly too
Nice biancr great food v friendly
Like the low carb pizza and starter options. Not five stars because it didnt knock me off my feet but I was thoroughly happy wed gone there.
Tasty, reasonably priced restaurant. Good if youre wanting to try something different. Nice alternatives to a traditional Tarte flambée. Clean and enjoyable environment with friendly staff.
Went for lunch today. We ordered and they didnt bring my food. We waited a bit and as I had ordered the same as my partner I thought Id ask. They then said that was because they had run out of that, there was only one left. Well I was glad I asked otherwise no one said anything to us. I ordered something else which they didnt have either. Then ordered something else which also didnt come. They came to pick up the empty plates from my partner and kids and I asked about my order which the waitress seemed surprised it hadnt come out. Then I said I didnt want it anymore. They brought ice cream for the kids, they ate it and then my order (which I said didnt want) arrived. Brought the bill normally charging for every thing and not even an apology. We paid for everything and left. Wont be going back
My wife and I love to go there when we are in town. The staff is extremely friendly and we always get greeted by the owner, Alex which is a nice touch. The crispy fried squid is to die for and they make the best hummus. The menu has great options which keeps us coming back, and it tastes great every time we order from them even if it is to go! The best part is that they sell make your own Flam-kuche kits which is great for dinner parties at home with friends. Our friends who came from Manchester and now order them since they ship nationwide. Highly recommend this place if you haven t been. Ask for Alex when you are there.
Delicious and great service!! Vegan pizzas available :)
Refreshing variety of pizzas. Great taste, great service. Very much worth a visit.
Cant stop thinking about how good the sardine bruschetta was! Came across Amelie completely by accident on a visit to Cambridge. All of the food was fantastic, pizza, salad and small plates made for a mini lunchtime feast. Not the obvious destination for such high quality food. Sitting under sun umbrellas indoors makes you quickly forget youre in a shopping centre. Great staff.... cant wait to return.
Quick bite , dirty fries & margarita pizza! Amazing , I could taste every ingredient ! I would highly recommend
Fantastic restaurant, would highly recommend. The Flemmekeuche is out of this world - much better than any pizza I ve ever eaten. Can thoroughly recommend the pulled pork and Moroccan lamb. The service is great too. It s like a little slice of Paris in the middle of Cambridge.
The atmosphere of this place is magical, it really makes you forget you are in the middle of a shopping center, food is always great and service is always delivered by kind and helpful staff, its a great choice over overpriced popcorn if you are going to the cinema, awesome place for a first date as well, its fancy but not expensive and I he food is really light so you wont get out bloated as if you went for a pizza for example.
Lovely, tasty food. Light and ideal if youre about to grab popcorn and drinks at the cinema. Located just outside the Vue cinema, if youre early you can grab your tickets and grab some food at Amelie Flam-Kuche. Imagine a very thin naan bread, crispy, with a range of different toppings available. They have gluten free and vegetarian options. They also do dessert which is just as nice where the base compliments the sweet toppings nicely.
All is good! Quite rare can be delivered by Deliveroo(
Delicious and unique in Cambridge. Friendly service, one of our favourite places for lunch/dinner.
Posting for my daughter Mary... Enjoyed the skinny pulled pork pizza, Brownie was also delicious. Plenty of space (we didnt have to queue and the food arrived quickly). I would definitely eat at Amelies again.
Really fantastic flam-kuche, extremely family friendly!
I had the pulled pork pizza on a crème fraîche base - I thought it was pretty tasty! The pastry base is thin and crispy which means the flavours of the toppings shine through more strongly, which is nice, though it also means it s a bit less filling than you d expect from the size. The service was fast and friendly too.
Friendly service, tasty food! Love it! Favorite spot in Cambridge
AMAZING Flames!!!!
Lovely food, delivery available plus if you are going to Vue, get a takeaway and eat it there
Had a delivery to Milton Park And Ride today and the food was freezing cold, not worth the money
Great food, fresh and very tasty. Very friendly staff.
Very nice food and lovely waitress. Good experience.
Fab food and good for kids
Excellent food and service
Lovely food and friendly staff
Fantastic restaurant offering something a bit different - flammekueche, a pizza like dish from the Alsace region of France. The staff were friendly and helpful, getting us high chairs for our children very quickly and answering our questions about the menu. All dishes were a very high standard. The restaurant is also very family friendly, with plenty of space for prams etc. We will definitely be visiting again soon!
This is a really nice restaurant! Its unconventional and in someways surprising. I think the Grafton are very lucky to have this restaurant here. The Flammekueche is a beautiful lsatian/Palatine/Alemannic German dish and just works in so many different ways. My and my wife had a date here after parking at the Grafton for a conference.
Excellent food. What a treat!
Try it, its great We were in Cambridge shopping and thought that we could have a look at the revamped Grafton Centre. We started look for some food outlets to have lunch, and there was a simple choice, chain restaurant or a something different - we went for the unknown. This is a mixture between restaurant and street food with an authentic French van where drinks and takeaway food are served. There is good seating and the Flammekueche are made at a central station. We went for a French style bruschetta, followed by an Italian on a French flatbread/pizza. Both of these were very good, so we tried the desert options of a cinnamon and apple flatbread which was also a massive hit. All in all the food is affordable tasty and service attentive and spot on, We had never heard of Flammekueche as a style of food it is very good. This is by far the best food option in the Grafton and well worth the visit to the centre alone.
Really nice! An independent family run restaurant. Delicious!
Fabulous food and they do mains and deserts in different sizes theres something for everyone and a great place for any meal of the day. Outstanding service and loads better than Bella italia next to it. All members of staff a very knowledge on all there food items on menu
Fabulous food. Very enjoyable
Really nice food and service!
Delicious and unique food. Great service and perfect little setting. Beauty of a gem, just need people to spread the word. Pulled pork flammekueche was unreal
Nice variety of thin crust pizza. They had many veg options also . If you a little more hungry order the large size.
Always a good place to go. Yummy different food, excellent service, and not expensive. Really recommend.
Very nice .
Enjoyed the food. It is not an indoor restaurant per se but an open area within the mall.
Great atmosphere lovely food
Food was excellent, and staff were spot on!
The food is very light and full of flavor!
Good food at affordable price staff excellent recommend
Just really quite decent
Very pleasant atmosphere. Friendly staff. Amazing food! We come here everytime we are at the grafton centre.
The food here was great! BUT, I have to give it 3 stars because the service was disappointing. My friend has a severe nut allergy which we informed them of as soon as we ordered. The waiter didn t bother to tell the kitchen, meaning the cheese fondue came out with bread which had nuts in it. Thankfully we spotted this before it was too late. We approached the chefs directly and they rectified it and brought it out to us. We both finished drinks and the glasses weren t cleared or another drink offered. In fact we weren t checked upon once. We then had the main meal which was nice, but the waiter had only put through one of the mains so I was left waiting for my food. I then asked another waitress who asked the kitchen and again, the chef apologised and immediately rectified the problem as the waiter hadn t put the order through. I feel terrible leaving a bad review because the Chefs and the food were great. But the service was poor to say the least. If it was overly busy I could accept that mistakes happen but there were four tables seated at most.
Very cool food. Unique and different. Extremely tasty. Well recommended. Just a pity its in a shopping centre.
Always a great experience!
Very good restaurant, and pleasant service. In addition, the setting is, in my opinion, very pleasant to the view. And Im not just talking about the environment.
I had the pulled pork and a fondue. Superb with Vimto as everything is. A cheery Bon appetite from the owner when you get your food. Shuper
Lovely food and friendly service.
Great for a light meal, with a good value menu for small children.
Food was great, this is a nice place for a light meal. Staff was very friendly. I will most definitely be back!
Absolutely amazing food and great customer service! Would totally come back again.
The Flammekueche is delicious, really recommend this restaurant for a light meal if you are craving something appetising but not too moreish.
Delicious and original food at very reasonable prices. Very attentive staff. Loved it!
Superb tarte flambee well done
I cannot fault this eating venue I visited last week with my daughter. It was beautiful. The food was fresh and tasty. The signature dish of Flammekueche was light and delicious. The price is right too. The service was attentive but not intrusive. I love the bright yellow decor.
The best food ever
Great location in the new Food Social section in The Grafton, near the Vue cinema. The flammekueches - both savoury and sweet - are deliciously light and flavourful. Flammekueche is made with thinly stretched dough topped with fresh ingredients and baked in a very hot oven for about 90 seconds, leaving the edges crisp and slightly charred. It may be quick to prepare and bake but it s not your average fast food. It s an upgrade from fast food top quality ingredients are used and everything is freshly cooked. The menu also includes nibbles and small plates. Good selection of drinks, including Amélie Golden Ale, brewed exclusively for the restaurant by Nethergate Brewery. Friendly helpful service.
These guys are doing a great job. We had a fantastic lunch. I would highly recommend it!
A great family-run, independent company with fantastic food and service. Very well organised and efficient.
amazing concept and food !
Great place - lovely service and beautiful ambience with candles and great décor! Would be ideal for a small lunch, yet we went for dinner and left still hungry because the portion sizes are quite small for a main. We were happy to have tried the place out nevertheless!
A lovely family run business. The food was absolutely lovely, the staff are brilliant. I recommend amele to everyone!!!
A small gem at Grafton. Walked passed it earlier assuming some fast food place, only to realise that the place serves something new. I liked the food and it was not that expensive either.
Really delicious food, great staff and good value for money. Highly recommend!
