4 Bene't St, Cambridge CB2 3QN, United Kingdom
A compact menu of upscale sandwiches and coffees served in a butcher-style, tiled space.
Overview: A small restaurant specialising in roast and slow cooked meats served in fresh bread along with a choice of sides and milkshakes. Pros✅: Food was so so so good, I highly recommend anyone visiting Cambridge to come here for lunch. The porchetta ciabatta was delicious and my favourite part was the crackling and salsa verde. The bread is also very fresh and served hot. I highly recommend the poutine - the gravy was the best part. Good value for money. Cons❌: Can get super busy during peak times. We arrived at around 12pm on a weekday and there was a queue of about 7 people ahead of us. We only had to wait for about 10 mins as the place has very quick turnover of customers like a fast service food restaurant. Recommended dishes: 🐖Porchetta ciabatta 🥩Philly cheese steak with jalapeños 🍟Poutine
I found a tasty and healthy dish, I asked to remove dairy products, no problem. I enjoyed the food, the service and the vibe. Makes me want to return.
Let me start this off by saying I absolutely love this place. It’s one of 3 places that I visit religiously the one time a year that I’m in Cambridge. Unfortunately I was left a bit disappointed today. The food still tastes great but the portion size of the meat and crackling (porchetta) was way less than usual, maybe 1/3 less. I definitely didn’t get crackling in every bite like I usually would. The price is now £11 for a sandwich, it was £10 the last time I was here. (July ‘23) I get it, costs go up and prices have to too, but you can’t reduce the portion sizes and increase the price. It’s a shame, this place was the first thing that comes to mind whenever Cambridge is mentioned around me, I recommend it to anyone that comes this way. Maybe I caught them on an off day, we’ll see how they do on my next visit.
A spin off of Meat & Bread in BC, Canada. Delicious sandwiches and they serve poutine, too. Sandwiches from £10.50 and poutine starts at £7. It was delicious. A little warm on the uk summers days, could do with an AC unit. Would definitely recommend. We were a little taken aback by the service charge in a small place with not much service needed as such, but we still had a great time. Worth a visit, there were three of us and we spent just over £50. @kirbystaltari
Best combo for 2 people: Phili cheese steak ciabatta and honey soy chicken poutine. This worths a trip from London! Absolutely loved it 🥰
Whenever we are in Cambridge I try and come by to order a honey soy chicken sandwich with roast veggies on the side, and a poutine if I’m with company. I’ve tried a few of the other sandwiches and they are good too, but honey soy chicken is by far my personal favourite. Try and dine in if you can, as the food can get quite soggy quite quickly when packed to go.
One of the best ciabatta I have in Cambridge. The combination of topside beef and other ingredients are just perfect! The beef is so tender and rich in flavour. The sourdough ciabatta is also a blast, soft inside with a real crispy crust. The weekly special bbq beef brisket is a little greasy with too much dressing.
It was actually pretty average, definitely not one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. In all honestly, I don’t think I would return. I had the special, (Korean chicken) which was ok, and my partner had the spicy honey chicken, which was pretty terrible. Maybe their other items are better….
little bit expensive but very nice
-The blonde man serving me earlier was hot 5/5 -the food was pretty good, expensive though
So good. Bit pricey however.
Amazing food and very nice atmosphere! The best place to eat in Cambridge.
Went for a mini date night and had heard amazing things about Bread & Meat. Honestly amazing food my other half had the honey soy chicken sandwich with a side of poutine and it was all stunning. I chose the philly cheese steak bowl (gluten free as I am coeliac) and it was amazing, highly highly reccomend we will be back at some point!
Not bad place, so glad to finally try poutine, I nearly couldnt finish it.
Friendly helpful staff, tasty sandwich with lots of meat defo recommend
Best lunch place in Cambridge!
Wow, have it. It is have a good vibes and a great taste. Always full.
Great place for food in Cambridge
The porchetta ciabatta tastes fairly nice. Pork was crispy. The portions were quite generous.
The food is very nice! I tried the Poutine - Beef Brisket. Delicious, the beef was falling apart. It was just a little too salty, other than that no complaints. The restaurant is located near The Eagle and King s Parade, so very central. Definitely worth popping in
A brilliant find in Cambridge for lunch. Staff is friendly and the food was amazing
juicy sandwiches. fresh ciabatta. all the lovely deliciousness.
Perfect bread, meat, and cheese! What else do I want?
Phlilly cheese steak sandwich - the combination of juiciness and crunchiness!
Great small cafe. The Philly cheesesteak is amazing. My favourite meal to get in all of Cambridge. Milkshakes are large sizes and delicious. Only thing I don t like is sometimes the laminated menus are a bit greasy.
Had the weekly special- the Jerk chicken sandwich in ciabatta bread. Can comfortably say it was one of the best sandwiches I ve ever had. The size of the sandwich was extremely good value for the price. A must visit!
Incredible!
Tasty and cozy atmosphere
Usually there was a queue in front of it every time I saw it, but I was able to sit down after waiting 15 minutes. Very delicious, staff were very nice. I really loved it. I liked the chicken the least but the other options were amazing
Yum. Better than the famous sandwich shop in Florence! I had the topside beef in ciabatta - winner winner!
Very odd and uncomfortable experience with the management. We were a group of four, and upon arrival, we were immediately directed to an uncomfortable table. What made this experience more noticeable was that we were the only customers of color in the restaurant. Shortly after we sat down, a white family of three took the very table that had been denied to us.
Great service from Natalia! Always with a smile and very attentive! Food was great. Nice filling bites to enjoy with friends! Highly recommend Food
good food , v busy though so expect to queue (on a weekend at least)
Great place for honest quality grub. Small menu which is good, and top quality pork and chicken. The bowl is a good option for meat and veg to fill u up. Great milkshakes too. Good service too. Will be back.
Good place to eat. Dish with grilled meat and various vegetables £17.5, very delicious. Very good location and excellent service in Spanish by a waiter from Salamanca.
Porchetta goes hard
Yum
Serving great sandwiches for meet lovers
Walking by this restaurant and saw a beautiful pork roast with craklins (chichirones) surrounding it and was lured in by the smell and looks. The food was fabulous. We had been in England for a week and the will be my most memorable meal. My wife asked the owner how he achieved the craklin and rather than try and keep.it a secret he went through the lengthy procedure needed to create the meat. This is gem and I hope the people of Cambridge realize how fortunate they are! Truly unique, truly delicious!
Tasty food made better with the friendly helpful staff
Tasty and good service
Cozy, warm, and fantastic food. I love the small menu. It makes sense that there is a queue outside.
Love the sandwiches
Best lunch spot in Cambridge.
Simple and great environment. The Ciabatta and the Poutine with Philly Cheese Steak were great
Ordered this on Deliveroo and was a great sandwich. Lots of flavour and a great amount of meat
Quite expensive (for a sandwich ) but really tasty and copious! In the historical center, excellent yet!
Best poutine chips in UK! All of their menus are fantastic.
How on earth did I miss this place? What is poutine and why is it already my favourite food? I loved it! 100% recommended if you guys havent been there.
the queue is long. the food was perfect
Bread was warm and tasty the chicken thighs were delicious.
Nice sandwiches in city center
Ciabatta is best I ever had. Take away and eat next to river
Had the panchetta ciabatta with drinks. The bread was crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The pork was also nicely cooked, and I loved the salsa verde. However, there were two very hard slabs of pork skin in the sandwich that I just could not put my teeth into. It should really be left out of the sandwich as it can be a health hazard for some people with weak teeth... The service and atmosphere were warm and welcoming.
Quick business lunch. Good service from helpful staff. Lunch menu was nice with rather small portions.
The meat Sandwiches are incredible, the other meat dishes not so much.
Amazing Meal with great service!
Had a horrible diarrhoea immediately after eating a topside of british beef sandwich here
Great place to eat! We ordered the philly cheese steak with poutine, one in a bowl and the other the ciabatta. It was really tasty. Price is good as well. Our waiter was lovely and we had a great time. Certainly going back when in town.
Tried for the first time today after hearing amazing reviews. I had the honey soy chicken with slaw and sriracha mayo. Best sandwich Ive had in a long time. Not always huge on bread but this was fluffy and warm in the middle with a crisp crust. Will come back
Very good mouth time
Great place for a good lunch. We had the bowl with chicken, warm vegetables and lettuce. Fine!
I can honestly say this is the best sandwich I have ever had. The meat is delicious and the bread is crispy and soft at the same time! I would 100% recommend you come and try the food here!
We came completely by chance. A very good discovery. The sandwiches are excellent with very good ingredients. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Vegetarian options: There is an excellent vegetable sandwich Kid-friendliness: There are options adapted to childrens tastes, just like poutine.
We stayed 1 week st cambirdge and we came here third times!! Love these sandwiches. I can not decided which is better philly cheese steak or honey soy chicken. Meat one is cooked 14 hours omg!! It is so soft and this sandwihes has great fresh cheese. chicken one has great souce and it is also soft.
Nice sandwiches
Best sandwich I ve had. Honey soy chicken especially
As a chef Im quite critical of food. Gotta be the best sandwich Ive ever had.
Top sandwich in town
Fantastic sandwiches but loses one star because ambience a bit lacking. Could do with a fan or air con because on a warm day it s very hot in there.
Love this place for a quick take away lunch. Highly recommend never disappoint. We come here every time we are in Cambridge from London. Soy chicken or the top side ciabatta but to be fair any would satisfy!!!!
Small place with great food. We tried poutine and sandwich and writing this review my mouth is watering. They serve you quickly and very well.
Everything was great, the food, the service. I recommend! Vegetarian options: There is a vegetables sandwich/bowl available Food : 5/5 |
The best food I tasted in England, I swear. Ive been traveling for a while, and for me there isnt nothing close to this delicious food
Love it here, sandwiches and poutine is always delicious
They re famous for their sandwiches but their sandwiches while delicious, it s too small and too expensive. Their coleslaw was bland and not worth the price as well.
Beef Ciabatta with good flavor. If you order take away ask for extra napkins, it s quite a messy.
Hi iv posted on dilveroo ap but cant reply the meat was fatty but couldnt swallow it was awful, the chips just wasnt great if you check the month before I gave you 5 stars as I normally love the food
I absolutely love this place since its opened. I recommend take away and sit somewhere nice in a park or something
It was really tasty
Photo doesn t do justice to how good this was! Lucky to be seated straightaway in a tight table which is fine given the size of the place. Would recommend mixing and matching if visiting with friends to maximise trying everything!
We had the porchetta and Philly steak ciabattas. Amazing, full of flavour, juicy and very filling. One of our best sandwich experiences!
Delicious sandwich. Philly cheese steak with jalapenos is highly recommended as well as the poutine as a side.
The honey soy chicken is my favourite sandwich in existence! I can t count how many times I ve had it, but it gets better every time
MUST try spot in cambridge. Always have me coming back for more! Honey soy chicken ciabatta is sublime, definitely NOT average or terrible. AND their specials never miss. Special mention to the spicy mayo made with the exxtra special sriracha
Heard about this in YouTube and decided we needed to visit. We were not disappointed!! The food was amazing!
Never disappoints
The food was good, but it felt rather cheeky to be presented with the card machine without seeing an itemised bill beforehand, especially when the tip was automatically added.
Really pleasant drop-in after the chapel and right before the lunch rush. They had seating along the window, close enough to watch the queue grow. Its tiny, so eat and dont linger so the next person can enjoy. The porchetta sandwich accompanied by the most unexpected veggies was delicious.
Best meal in Cambridge . A bit expensive for this type of fare but the quality is really good and much better than places around that would charge more. The Philly steak with poutine is mouthwatering. Service also fast & pleasant. + for the clean toilet
Went it at 11:29 to get take away at the side door. Told to come back in 5 min by a girl with what I assume is a replicated American accent. Politely told the girl is 1 min to half 11 which is when they open and asked if I can pay now and collect whenever is ready. Told to come back in 5 min. I guess not!!! Not on my money. Shame as we were regulars.
Fantastic little sandy spot in downtown. Food was super flavorful and well worth it! 10/10
Best sandwiches in town. The quality here is always perfect. Staff are very friendly and always happy to make space for a pushchair, despite only having a small number of tables. Bread and Meat is a Cambridge staple! Food
Banging! Que outside today due to how popular it is but wo worth it.
Amazing
Philly cheese was top notch, and the poutine side delicious and enough to share between 2. Veggie sandwich was nice enough but lacking a bit of oomph.
Probably the best lunch I have had for a long time. Excellent service, warm friendly atmosphere and most importantly the bread and meat were top notch. If Im ever in Cambridge again, this is where I will be eating. Vegetarian options: Vegan option was available and enjoyed by someone in the group.
Decent bit of roast. Wont knock the grade. Mid rare methinks. My only input is, theres literally no point in rocket salad in a roast sandwich. 100% spoils it. Tomatoes are sound. Ciabatta was fair. Didnt test the sauce had forgotten to ask for the ingredients itinerary. Just diatry preference. Though Im sure the probables are its delicious.
Philly steak was extremely delicious. I loved its taste with its meat, cheese, pepper and bread. The lemonade was also nice and the sugar was just right.
Consistently brilliant, every time! Soft bread, tender meat, and never fails.
Great lunch here whilst visiting from London. Ticked all the boxes for us - quick service, big portions and really tasty menu, the gravy was divine. Will definitely be returning
Quick service, friendly staff, quality food - you wont be disappointed
Best sandwich I ve ever eaten. Meat is so succulent and really high quality produce used. Will be returning to Cambridge just for another meal here!
We were wandering around and figured we d check this place out for lunch based on the many positive reviews. They couldn t have been more right - the place was great! I ordered the lemonade (sweet and refreshing), the porchetta sandwich (tasty bread and even more tasty meat - spiced just right), and fries with spicy mayo (cooked to perfection). The picture I m sharing is not mine, but my order looked exactly like it but my phone had died.
Very nice one of my favourite lunch spots in Cambridge. Dietary restrictions: Always happy to answer questions when I ask about allergens. Food : 5/5 |
The Philly Cheese Steak Ciabatta and Poutine I tried recently were both excellent. The ciabatta was perfectly toasted, providing a satisfying crunch with every bite, complemented wonderfully by the juicy, well-seasoned steak and melted cheese. As for the poutine, it was a delightful mix of crispy fries, rich gravy, and gooey cheese curds, all blending together to create a comforting, indulgent dish. Both items were flavorful and well-prepared, making for a truly satisfying meal. Highly recommended for anyone craving hearty, delicious comfort food!
Delicious beef sandwich (shared between two oldies). Also portion of slaw. Owner came to talk us through slow cooked beef which miraculously ends up pink & lovely. Must try - suspect I will need an enormous joint of beef Really good food & service. Well be back.
I went here randomly to be honest and it was the best decision possible. The Philly steak Poutine was so amazing and a great size . Perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Will be back and looking forward to it.
We came just to try the brownie! They used to do oreo brownie, but now its just the classic brownie they sell. You get a choice of ice cream from vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. The ice cream they provide is what next door sells via a window. The brownie was glorious!! The ice cream was delicious, too. The temperature of the brownie was perfect. Wed definitely return! The only downfall is that when we left, my clothes smelt very bad... there is lots of meat being cooked indoors and other food and ventilation is bad. This needs fixing!
I love this place, it s a must visit whenever I m in Cambridge. Today I went in, and it took a bit longer than usual for my order to be taken. To be honest, I didn t even really notice, but the waitress was so kind. They even sent me with a free brownie after I paid. 10/10 recommend for good service and food.
Outstanding gravy, and the meat dishes are very good. Perhaps leaning on the salty side but thats sorta the point. Service is very good. Poutine best Ive had in UK. Id love to see the coffee improve - not in the same league as the food - but for casual eats its a favourite in Cambridge for sure.
Great food but be careful the 12.5% discretionary service charge is already added to your bill when you pay on hand held terminal.
Great food. I just wish that the space were bigger sometimes (can get busy some evenings especially on the weekends). A little pricey for a sandwich but Im willing to pay; the quality of the bread and meat is wonderful.
Everything was fantastic! My wife got the Honey garlic chicken bowl and I got the Honey garlic sandwich and we shared a poutine. (Being from Quebec, we are poutine snobs... That being said, the British interpretation was a very good and the cheese was delicious!)
Completely bewitched by their philly cheese steak What am I to do I was not even a sandwich person. Love this place Have dined in, taked out ..: Love it
Food was great. Loads of flavour. I would recommend. Good service also.
Amazing food. Highly recommend. Food
Vegetarian options: I got the roast mixed vegetables sandwich. The vegetables were nicely cooked and seasoned, and the portion was generous. Food
I ve been multiple times, and everything they do is good, the service is efficient and the venue is small but cute.
Actually sensational. I cant stop thinking about the Philly cheese steak sandwich and the poutine side.. just unreal. You must go here!!!
If you go during lunch time, you may have to wait a bit. I ordered two sandwiches and lemonade. Philly cheesesteak is thick and slightly salty braised sauce. Honey Soy Chicken is delicious chicken seasoned just right. Cheese steak tastes too typical for Koreans, so I recommend chicken. Lemonade tastes truly homemade. And the ciabatta was crunchy and delicious.
Extremely delicious food & homemade soft drinks, great vibe and lovely service!!
Delicious sandwich - on the pricier side, but you definitely get what you pay for. Service was pleasant and fast.
Bread and Meat has amazing food and average (cans) to great drinks (milkshakes). It has enough space to seat about 20 people and it gets busy during lunch time with people sometimes queuing. They offer takeaway as well. The price and the standard included service charge (this should be optional) make it quite expensive: we paid more than £30 for a small lunch for two which is on the higher end for a simple sandwich lunch.
unexpectedly tasty
The sandwiches are good, quality is consistent. Cant knock them for that. But £12.50 for a sandwich? I know inflation is high at the moment but that is nothing short of absurd.
We ordered Porchetta sandwich and poutine with soy honey chicken. The food was great. The crackling was crispy , the chicken is perfectly grilled and the curd and gravy was so delicious.
I had the Christmas special and my partner had the Philly cheesesteak over Christmas. It was absolutely amazing. Best sandwich I ve ever eaten. I m literally salivating as I write this and relive it through memory. Had a glass of their mulled wine as well, which was really good too. I need to come back ASAP.
Absolutely excellent food, fast and good service. Had the weekly special (BBQ brisket sandwich) and a Philly Cheese steak; both very filling, tender and juicy. Highly recommended!
Fantastic sandwich shop, their topside beef is good however the best one is Philly cheese steak. The brisket is just melting in your mouth with cheese and combination with bread and jalapeños was amazing. Truly impressed and soon as you bite you can taste the juiciness and can t stop eating it. Would definitely come back for this and would like to try others as well. Seats are bit small and when it s full of people it becomes quite uncomfortable and hot and stuffy too.
Loved this place. Had to queue to get a seat, but it was well worth the wait. Slow roast brisket and honey soy chicken were fabulous in the sour dough rolls.
Best sandwich in Cambridge
I excepted more but it was still really really good the meat was cold which was very disappointing but it was really delicious besides that. Vegetarian options: no vegetarian options
Tastes amazing, most definitely recommend visiting!
Hearty, tasty lunch in a great location. Portions are the perfect size, service is swift and caring, a great place to be!
We went for lunch and the store wasnt too packed and we were pretty quickly able to get a seat. We got the poutine and Philly Cheesesteak. The poutine was wonderful, with amazing gravy and the real cheese curds were definitely a unique touch that we rarely see elsewhere. The Philly Cheesesteak sandwich also stood out. The meat was flavorful and wonderfully seasoned, alongside the amazing cheese melted over the top. The highlight was however their in house fresh baked ciabatta bread, which was wonderfully crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside, and had an amazing flavor to it. We could definitely tell it was fresh from the oven!
We ordered Porchetta and Philly Cheese Steak. Both were fantastic. Best English food ever.......
Stupidly good and a serious contender for death row meal. Shared the honey and soy chicken and philly cheesesteak with poutine. Just sensational flavours and textures on a fresh crunchy on the outside and airy on the inside ciabatta. Would highly reccomend dipping the ciabatta in some leftover poutine peppery, savoury gravy. Brilliant staff, made us feel very welcome and accommodating with our baby.
Can t tell you how amazing this was. Went to Cambridge on a whim and stumbled across Bread & Meat - and wow, we were not disappointed. We got the Philli Cheese Steak with poutine and vegetable sides, then my partner went back the next day to get the Honey Soy Chicken - both were unbelievable. Get yourself here! Also extremely affordable. Nothing feels better than having a cost effective mean that blows so many expensive eateries out the water.
Wait! There is so much more to this than bread and meat. We had the bowl. Absolutely wonderful! Great tasting grilled veggies, perfect potato wedges and yes, absolutely perfect meat.
great bread
Very tasty sandwiches. We tried braised beef and chicken and both were excellent! They also have poutines. They have small place inside for seating but they also have an outdoor area behind the church across from the restaurant which is a bit creepy.
The chicken sandwich is the best sandwich Ive ever had in my life. I know where I will eat next time I return to Cambridge. Too delicious!!!
Shared the beef sandwich and poutine and throughly enjoyed it. The bread was fresh, meat was juicy and poutine was delicious, highly recommend for any sandwich lovers out there.
Clear to see the passion that goes into the food here, would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area
Deliciousness had the Philly Brisket, it was absolutely mouthwatering!
Was really looking forward to eating here for a day trip in Cambridge. Sadly, the porchetta was extremely overdone / dry. This could have been saved by another sauce / accompanying condiment in the sandwich, but alas, there was only a bit of green pesto. Quality of the bread was decent. I would recommend the poutine.
As a French Canadian, I had to try their poutine and I must say that they did a great job. It does taste a little different than home because of the gravy, but definitely worth every pound!! I would have it again!!
Overrated
Beautiful food and quick service, worth the trip to Cambridge just to eat here!
My partner and I both had the beef sandwich with a side of poutine. It was one of the best sandwiches I ve ever had and gravy in the poutine was full of flavour! Can t recommend highly enough!
We had an impromptu bank holiday Monday to Cambridge and decided to try Bread and Meat. We arrived at 12 to check it out and there was already a queue outside the door. Luckily the weather was kind, whilst waiting the staff asked us if we wanted to wait or try the takeaway but we chose to wait and within 10 minutes we were seated inside at a table for two. The restaurant is small with basic tables and chairs and the menu on a big board. We d already both decided on the rare beef ciabatta sandwich and a portion of Poutine as I d never tried it. The food arrived quickly and we were not disappointed as it was absolutely delicious. In fact I couldn t finish my sandwich and was offered a doggy bag which I accepted. The menu is simple, but the food is amazing and the staff are very friendly, I love the concept and will definitely visit again.
Take away so cannot comment on atmosphere. Went above and beyond during a really busy Saturday lunchtime when I wasnt feeling well. Superb customer service, thank you!
Best sandwich in Cambridge possibly England. We will be back!
been here about 5 times & have always gotten the honey soy chicken sandwich & it is SOOOO GOOOOOOD. cannot get enough.
I cannot recommend this place enough. Nothing on the menu will disappoint. Sandwiches are delicious and the gravy is definitely a good way to soak those chips. Get their house iced tea, always refreshing and can satisfy that thirst after the sandwich. Vegetarian options: One vegetarian sandwich.
Meh... it was alright. I ordered the British beef sandwich, but it came lukewarm, which was unexpected. They do make it very clear before you enter that theres a 12.5% service charge but just cause everyone else does it doesn t make it right. The prices for the sandwiches themselves are reasonable before that charge. The server didnt have any issue removing the charge, but honestly, it should be optional like something you choose. I wish I could talk more about the food, but my entire experience was just waiting to decline that charge and the reaction from the server. They dont let you choose because no one would willingly pay it. It feels like a money grab and a scam at any restaurant that offers it. The food was alright, the flavours of the actual meat and sauce was tasty, and the bread was fresh.
It is rare that we get to Bread and Meat and there is not a queue outside but thats what you get when the food is beyond amazing - the poutine is top notch and the dirty chai milkshakes are an unexpectedly perfect match. We waited outside for two minutes as a party of four today and we are accustomed to a wait to eat in, but we were greeted and told the usual expected time of wait (ten mins) for inside or if we didnt mind eating by the church we could order and go sit behind St Bennets! They have access to this space for three months of the year with proceeds going to charity - its a gorgeous spot with comfy chairs and its quiet with lovely flowers, glass windows, and headstones and graves surrounding the grass. You cant have alcohol or smoke in this area as it is consecrated ground. The headstones are hundreds of years old and a lot of them look to have been relocated but I think the church would know more on that - the space is only available for use by Bread and Meat customers!
Soy chicken sandwich is really good
It s a place I can recommend even I can try it again and again. Beautiful atmosphere and central location in Cambridge city. Food was really good and such nice selection of real ales. Great service behind the bar. Clean place. Must coming back. Food
Nice enough but grossly overpriced and the service charge totally unwarranted. Vegetarian options: Only one veggie option - you expect this given the name but it s a screw that it s the same price as all the meat dishes for something that should so clearly cost less.
Traditional flavors, all done by hand. The staff (Elisa) is quick and friendly. A site in Cambridge to repeat.
These Sandwiches (Ciabattas) are great, Im a big fan of the veggie one. Totally recommended
WHAT A FANTASTIC SW. I choose the porchetta one and it was absolutely amazing. But all of them looks tasty and tempting to try all of them. Absolutely recommend this little place in Cambridge
Great sandwiches! We had a few options on the menu and they were all good. Be aware that the queue can get a bit long.
An excellent place with friendly service and great food. My initial fright at seeing the fries drowned in gravy and melted cheese in my poutine were completely unfounded, as it brought the flavours together without making the fries soggy. The sandwiches were also great, while the milkshake felt like drinking melted ice cream. The portions leave little room for desserts. Get the window seats if you fancy people watching.
Excellent place to eat. Great food and amazing service.
Amazing sandwiches! Beef was perfect and the pork crackling was absolutely delicious.
Nice place and delicious sandwiches. Roast veggies and wedges as a side were tasty but the portion was smaller than I thought. The service was fast and friendly. The overall price was higher than other places, and adds the service charge as well. Average clean toilets.
Delicious and reasonably-priced sandwiches. The meat is tasty and high-quality.
Amazing lunsh! Something you cant find anywhere else. Homemade food and drinks!
So good
We were lucky to get a table as the restaurant was full when we arrived, luckily someone was leaving so managed to get a seat straight away. Very popular place so be prepared to wait for a table at peak times. We had the porchetta and philly cheese and shared some poutine which was also amazing! Very glad I went with the fresh home made lemonade too was so refreshing. We sat at the window and was one of the best people watching restaurants ive ever eaten at which I loved. Definitely would go again if I visited Cambridge again. 10/10
Just outrageously good! The Philly steak is just outstanding A must visit place
Not to my liking
Great food, service, and atmosphere but 1* for discretionary service charge. Pay the staff more, let s not bring this American nonsense to Britain.
Bread & Meat have a fanny concept: you can choose between sandwiches, bowl and poutines. The food is fresh and very tasty and the portions are very generous. We had dishes (me the magnifique pork poutine), so we have to came back for the sandwiches
Amazing food with reasonable pricing. Great meat and bowl option!
I recommend the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The meat tastes like soft soybean paste and the ciabatta is absolutely amazing... The poutine was so-so and the food in general was a bit salty. Be sure to eat the sandwich though! The owner is very kind haha.
Incredible poutine! I just wish it was a bigger restaurant
Bread and Meat in Cambridge is a charming sandwich spot that has won me over with its warmth and simplicity. The small and cosy setting makes it a perfect retreat for a quick and satisfying meal. My go-to choice is the Soy Chicken sandwich, which is incredibly satisfying. The menu offers a range of options without overwhelming choices, making it easy to pick something delicious. What sets this place apart is the food, friendly staff, and welcoming couple who run the place.
Wonderful food and menu. This place is always rammed, which is testament to the quality of the food prepared. The service was ok, which is understandable due to how busy the venue always is. But honestly it doesn t matter because the food is so unique and delicious. I was skeptical about their take on the Philly cheese steak with the curds, but I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely check it out!
Best meal that Ive had in a while. Great taste and great service at a very reasonable price. Will definitely come back!
Always excellent food!
Stopped here at Christmas. Had an outstanding Philly cheese steak sandwich and porchetta sandwich. Strawberry milkshake delicious too. Highly recommended
