Nigerian cuisine - Special taste of African dishes with authentic foodstuffs freshly prepared to your taste. First of its kind in Cambridgeshire. A taste will convince you for a return.
I was in town for work and as soon as I saw this place online I knew my evening was going to be special. Had the egusi with goat and amala. It was perfect! I will be back.
The food and service were commendable, even surpassing my expectations. Given that West African cuisine remains unfamiliar to many, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and authenticity of the dishes. Having grown up with this type of food, I can confidently say that it was well-prepared and flavorful. However, the atmosphere could benefit from some enhancements. Investing in the restaurant's aesthetics and overall presentation would significantly elevate the dining experience. There is much to appreciate here, along with abundant potential for growth and improvement. Overall, I’m glad I chose to dine here. It was a rewarding experience. While the prices might be daunting for some, the rarity of encountering genuine African cuisine makes this a unique opportunity worth embracing. Yours sincerely An Itsekiri boy :-)
I just got my order from Uber eats. The food is too bad. Fried rice, plantains and chicken. It’s not tasty and too much vegetable oil in the rice. Chicken was tasteless. Also, very small portion. You need to do better.
Visited this place five years ago and was glad to see it still around on my latest visit. I had the egusi + fufu and puff puff. The food was good but like other reviews state I did hear the microwave a few times and the price could be better for the amount of food. Other than that, it satisfied my craving!
Very welcoming and friendly restaurant close to town centre. Jollof Rice was great, with fried plantain and we each had with goat meat and chicken which tasted very good and with just the right amount of pepper. All was very good, I'll happily drop in again to try some other food from the menu - hopefully that can be their Edo black soup when that gets on the menu.
This isn't what you want to see in a restaurant that you sit in and dine in. Items strewn all over. The food was just okay and I heard the microwave go off a few times before my food was brought to me. The plantain and moi moi were definitely microwaved. Not a good experience
Tucked away in the beautiful Cambridge, this Nigerian restaurant caters for all groups of people from Nigerian to Caucasian and back 😁 Visited yesterday with family and friends and we had a nice time, quite comfortable seating area not spectacular. They had the social distancing guidelines in place, best to place your order like 45mins before arrival (this reduces the waiting time). Also uses deliveroo service. The peppersoup was fantastic, they use less salt and spice levels are highly controlled to your specifications which is good because you can then increase this to suit you 😊 apparently the 'suya' is a must-have The food was good (not the best that I have had) and quantity was good for the pricing, wide variety of options to choose from including the drinks and the owners are a very pleasant couple. Could be abit tidier but still clean so no issues. Location is not a problem as long as you use a sat nav however parking can be an issue as no designated spot. There is a toilet available but again quite small, looks like it serves dual purpose of both storage area and restroom. Overall, would recommend to try it out 👍🏼
Looking for something different to eat and a quick Google search brought up this. The place was empty and the staff seemed a little surprised to see us to be honest. Maybe they don't get too many white fellas in here. The staff were very friendly and bubbly. We ordered the jollof rice and and asked for a recommendation of meat to have with it. The young lady suggested goat and I'm glad she did because although small it was delicious. When I'm next in the area I'll be back for more.
Absolute mouth watering
Food was good I just wish the portion size for the Egusi was more, the pounded yam size was perfect!
Drain oil scandal rumor
Portions are way too small for the prices
I just got my order from Uber eats. The food is too bad. Fried rice and goat meat. It s just bad. Please don t patronise them. Stay away from Eko Kitchen!
The food prices is a rip off! Way too expensive! I m all for supporting a small business but it doesn t mean you can rip people off with these overpriced prices! You want us to support your business and you are not supporting families in the same economic situation that wants to support your businesse. Apart from that the food is very tasty
Ordered today and food was overpriced for the quantity and quality.Soup was nothing to write home about. Will never recommend
It should have been a zero star rating, but for the fact that I needed to put in a star, so as to get on to this page. Very poor customer service, food was highly overpriced for the quantity served, we wanted to eat it in, but despite the fact that there were chairs and it had a restaurant setting, we were told we couldnt eat it in, I was stunned. When the food was eventually prepared and brought out, I had to confirm if it was our order or not, the whole package wouldnt have gone for anything less than £20 even in london, yet we paid £45, and as if that was not enough, the food was tasteless when we got home and started eating. I wont recommend this restaurant to anybody, unless the management improves on their services. Nothing to write home about. Total waste of money and time.
The food was outrageously expensive, small quantity and not so tasty. He needs to have better competition in business to allow him place fair prices. A plate of swallow sells at 18.99 or more and always too small in quantity. I wouldn t recommend to any typical African living in England or Cambridge. It s a price Rip off.
I just ordered off Deliveroo in Cambridge UK. Delivery was quick which was a great surprise. I started with assorted meat pepper soup - Delicious - 10/10, puffpuff- delicious 9/10, Fufu and egusi soup - Ill give an 8 out of 10. Suya 8/10 (very spicy though), Tripe - 7/10. Gizz dodo - 8/10, moin-moin - 10/10. Overall very enjoyable
The portion size is so tiny its not even for a child. The food was mediocre and 18.99 for one. 100% would not recommend
the food was amazing - 10/10. but the amount I was given for almost £12 is a joke. Higher portions for this place please.
Lovely family resturant, children are very welcome there and they try to accommodate them as much as possible they have a toy box and baby chairs. The lady there is very lovely and welcoming. Dietary restrictions: Halal
I have visited this place few times and Im always happy with the taste of their food. Very good flavours and very friendly staff. I will come back soon for sure
I was alarmed by the man who took my call on Wednesday 13/09/2023. Just because I suggested consistency in the use of containers, bearing in mind the high price of OHA soup. He became agitated and dismissive, trying to silenced me by claiming he is taking orders and was not interested in my opinion and basically said I should go elsewhere, as he had no time for argument. He later said there is no OHA soup and cut me off. The same arrogance that stops us from developing our nation. I expected him to say bring the containers, rather he dismissed me. What an impunity. Though the price is overpriced, I have no problem paying hence everything is expensive I do understand the need for high prices, but there is no need for such unreasonable behaviour.
If you want to experience authentic Nigerian food, then this is the place to come, even if you live outside of Cambridge. The taste is just yum yum, and you are warmly welcomed and given first class service. You can eat in or take- out. Just come try it yourself and see.
Absolutely delicious plantain and jollof rice, good selection of vegan options - would absolutely come here again! Portion size was just right and good value.
I was unable to eat the food because it was not fresh. The rice had been frozen for too long. I was very dispensation.
Lovely owners, they were amazing in sorting out a mixup I had with food and they went above and beyond in their service. Really made my day!
Delicious Nigerian foods, cool environment.
Food is really delicious and a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely be visiting again. This is soul food
What a LOVELY little gem. My fiance and I really wanted to try some authentic African cuisine and we were not disappointed. Delicious, flavoursome food serviced by the nicest most friendly and accommodating staff. We adored it. Perfect date night, would definitely recommend! Thank you xx
The best there is in Cambridge. Absolutely love the Pounded Yam and Efo Riro/ Egunsi. Absolutely lovely. Thank you for a lovely meal. Nice cosy environment. Love from Norwich.
Very good cuisine!
I like the home ambience it gives
Delicious
Lovely friendly place with great food
I highly recommend this place both for the quality but also the authenticity of the food. Their food also has much more flavor than most European places which for me is a major factor.
I had eba with egusi soup and I really enjoyed it. I definitely be there again whenever I visit Swindon. Kid-friendliness: The place is kids friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Its wheelchair accessible.
The food and service was excellent
Friendly owners and great food. Highly recommended for something a bit different and a lot delicious
They dont open the time they advertise. For that reason i traveller for nothing and wasted and hour.
Amazing quality food
You clearly dont need to be black or from the Caribbean to know rice n peas not supposed to look bare white with the kidney beans added on top, lol. Curry goat was mad oily, not a minimum taste of coconut milk, vegs were the ones frozen you add to make fried rice. If you want to get some Caribbean food in Cambridge go for AuntyPam or Nellaskitchen.
Homely restaurant with friendly hosts. Tasty food. Definitely something a bit different to try.
Casual eatery on the outskirts of Cambridge town. Tasty meal, a little unfamiliar with the menu items but the friendly staff assisted. Would go again.
Lovely environment, good customer service, great service.
Interesting, iconic restaurant serving Nigerian food.
The best restaurant in Cambridge!!! Lovely people, amazing food, smooth customer service... had a lot of fun!
Excellent food, particularly enjoyed the Jollof rice. Staff were very lively and friendly which made for a lovely atmosphere. 5/5.
The woman there is soo nice and understands what customers want.. Nice food
Nice food
We went here as the reviews were good and I wanted to support my people but I was very disappointed to be honest. The portions were so small, we had to go McDonalds after as we were all still very hungry. Over £60 for 2 adults and 3 small children. Although the fish was nice and the jollof rice was ok, the chicken meal was a joke. £9 for one drumstick and rice!? Come on guys, you need to make the portion size much bigger and not serve a drumstick as a main meal. I live in London, it should be much cheaper up there. Very disappointing!
Delicious food!! Flavours we never experienced before - sooo good and highly recommended! The owners are very friendly and so welcoming! Its open for take-away during Covid-19 times and there is really short waiting time - so well definitely be back!
Great Nigerian, cannot wait to go back
Really delicious food that s incredibly tasty and filled with flavour. They offer their own delivery service separate from Deliveroo that s much better as well. Though it is better to order from them before 7:30pm as ordering later means you are sometimes left with the last prepared food of the day. For example one order I placed quite late resulted in very hard puff-puff that I could not even bite into and ended up having to throw it out as a result. But overall great food and service. Would highly recommend!
Cosy family run restaurant. Ive visited/used deliveroo a few times and the quality has been consistent and delicious. Standouts include the jallof rice, curry goat with rice, suya, and egusi soup with solids. Staff are friendly and will help you order, just ask!
This place was a great surprise for us. We had no knowledge of Nigerian food before, and here we found out how good it is. It was a bit too spicy for my partner, but I loved everything, especially the moin-moin. Great place for informal dinners with friends and families. Strongly rcommended
The food was tasty and the service was decent but no masks for one and it would have taken much to improve the presentation of both of food and the restaurant
A heart-warming gem in Cambridge. Run by Grace and Yemi, such lovely people with talents and big hearts :) Shame that the masks are hiding their big smiles! Efo egusi and jollof rice are my favourite so far, but there are many more I should explore even after several visits. They modified the menu to make it veggie friendly. The cuisine genuinely understand how to bring out the full flavour of various vegetables and leaves. Going again and again!
Nice customer service
Eko kitchen is a good one. I got some food and soup. Ill recommend again and again. The managers are also really cool people.
The Best African shop on whole of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk
Not my usual style of food but pleasantly surprised. Would happily go again
Good place for African dishes, excellent customer service
Fascinating and incredibly unique African food in Cambridge. The menu can be a little unclear but the staff are very friendly and happy to help. Would definitively recommend if youve never tried African / Nigerian food before.
Nice restaurants
Friendly staff, great atmosphere and worthy food!
Great experience. Kind host.
Best African restaurant in Cambridge
Got puff puffs in record time!! Service is great.
Original Nigerian taste
Good customer service, tasty meals.
When we asked for suggestions, the proprietor asked us what our experience with Nigerian food was. In a patient manner with a smile, he proceeded to offer us a few ideas. We gladly took his suggestions and ordered the steamed bean cake (to split as an appetizer) with delicious dipping sauce, fish, goat, jollof rice with plantains, mixed vegetable rice with plantains, Nigerian Fanta and Coke. Food came out fresh, tasty and made with care. We ate it all. Wouldve eaten the paper plate if thats what they served it on. We had room for the fried puff puffs as dessert. The food is served in reasonable serving sizes and we left feeling satisfied with tasty food in our bellies for around £25. Will go back again this week.
The food was great and the service was wonderful!
The best place for African food in Cambridge
The most fantastic Nigerian food Ive ever had in the UK. We had fried plantain and yams, moin moin, different fish and goat curries and puff balls. Great value for money and would 100% recommend to anyone. Really friendly service!
The food was amazing friendly staff good environment I would highly recommend it.
Went for first item recently and enjoyed spiced Jollof rice and roast goat with a mildy spicy sauce. Very tasty. Grace the main lady and cook is very friendly. You can take your own alcohol in or even take drink from the nearby Blue Moon pub.
The perfect family night out. Toys in the corner, relaxed friendly attitude towards children and wonderful wholesome food. Brought my family from Australia tonight to try and couldnt have asked it to be a better night.
Lovely friendly staff and very helpful. Good prices for food and drinks.
My favourite restaurant in Cambridge. The food is amazing and the people that run it are absolutely lovely and so funny (big up Queen!), its just the most welcoming and relaxed place. Highly recommend the goat curry and fried yam but everything that Ive tried after going a couple times has been amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough.
just cause u r african doesnt mean you can threaten to slap a boy in England cause youll get arrested. And ur jollof is under cooked.
i used the bathroom in this restaurant and i got shouted at and threatened with a slap whilst i was walking out. i would like an apology for how i was treated.
a unique experience of African food in Cambridge. Dont have other standards to compare it, but all the food was really tasty and far enough from the European tradition to be an interesting discover at every bite. Menu is not too big, but offers enough variety of flavours and the staff is really helpful in choosing the right dish Portions are a bit too small for the price asked, hence the four stars.
Amazing food service and service
Really enjoyed the food west african at its best will go again
Lovely jollof rice and chicken
Tried their jollof rice and it was good. Would have preferred bigger portion of beef however it did taste nice. Comfortable seating and good location. Nice place for group of 4...
Good food waitress had a bit of an attitude
Good and affordable African dishes
Very nice and cultural. Serves many African meals. Polite staff, also serves gluten free meals
Conquered the pepper soup and the jollof but was defeated by the dessert. Awesomeness
Good customer service. Friendly staff. Reminds of home away from home. Perfect for groups. Menu perfectly describes the meal. Will definitely visit again.
Staff respectful and good food
Excellent food! The owner/chef who also took our order and served our food was extremely friendly and helpful. She did a great job telling us about different dishes and making recommendations. I look forward to going back soon!
Food was very overpriced for the amount and quality received. Didnt taste too good either
Delicious authentic West African food. The host was very friendly and helpful explaining the menu and the drinks, and she even gave us the option to personalize our food within her possibilities. I can definitely recommend this restaurant.
Nice, hygienic Afrocaribean dishes
Always nice meal every time
The food is absolutely delicious and the staff is very friendly. A very nice place to try some African specialties and enjoy a welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends!
Enjoyed their meals
Ordered takeaway jollof rice and chicken twice now. Great food and decent portion size- great when you dont feel like cooking but want something filling.
Nice
Friendly staff, smooth pounded yam and tasty sauces. Nice
Good Nigerian food friendly service
I might not understand this food, not being Nigerian. But that pounded yam tasted bitter, I dont think it was supposed to taste like that.
Sent my Woman to buy us Take away Tasteless Pepper Soup Edikakong only green leafs not a single peace Of meat Egusi two pieces of Goat Bones honestly !!!! Ridiculous better driving to London and get a descent Tasty West African Meal... Or just invest on a good Cook Brother!!!
I love West African food and this place doesnt disappoint. The jolof rice is perfect and plantains moreish. Be careful with how much your order as the menu doesnt tell you what some of the dishes come with - so ask! However, over-ordering means theres more to eat at home the next day!
Ordered jollof rice, fried rice, chicken, eforiro, salad, plaintain...for my daughters birthday party and Eko kitchen did a fantastic job. Prepared on time, very good value and it was very tasty. Will definitely be ordering again!
Great Nigerian food and friendly staff!
Great food, but the portions could be larger...
Great Nigerian food, friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere! Would highly recommend!
Lovely food + lovely people = EKO kitchen ....
Warm athmoshere, pleasant staff and tasty meal. I recommend the edikaikon soup, really good.
