Kevin & the team welcome you to The Little Rose, a traditionally British gastropub in the heart of Cambridge. Whether you’re local to us and looking for a spot for a pint (pooches welcome!) or a cosy place for dinner with friends, or you’re a city visitor after a quick bite to eat in-between exploring, come on in, relax and enjoy! Our menu focuses on unfussy gastropub classics that champion British produce, however the jewels in our crown are our head chef’s exceptional seafood specials that rotate daily. Whether you’re a cocktail fan or a beer drinker, our bar range is ever-rotating - and we have an extensive wine list too!
Amazing service, friendly atmosphere ready for the festive season. The prawn and monkfish curry and cherry crumble is a delight and 100% worth the visit. Frankie was an amazing addition to the team so lovely and attentive through out our meal. Thanks again little rose Cambridge. We will be back!
The atmosphere and the design inside the restaurant is very pleasant. It is clean and cosy. The food unfortunately was not at the level we expected after reading a couple of the reviews. The starters were nice and quite delicious. For the main course, We had a seabass which tasted nice, however, the sausages that were apparently fried not only once spoiled the dish. The tempura soft crust scallop burger was not tasteful and the crust was difficult to chew. The raspberry tiramisu was for some reason salty instead of sweet and had nothing in common with a tiramisu. We would come back for the atmosphere and some drinks and starters.
I love the way it looked from the outside. We sat outside in the tavern garden? (I am not entirely sure what you call it). It looks beautiful, the waiting staff is quick and polite and the food had a good price for the quality you get. The inside was very cosy and it was busy, but not too crowded. I would definitely recommend going here.
I had a really bad experience with my lunch. The chicken liver profiteroles were rotten, grey-colored, and smelled bad. I only took a small bite, fortunately, because it looked spoiled, and it was decorated with fried chicken skin (what?!) which was extremely unappetizing. The cured salmon, avocado, and mango tartare was also terrible. The smoked (it should be mentioned on the menu, but it was not) salmon was randomly cut, not in cubes at all and smashed avocado seemed like it was prepared a couple of days ago. Soup was okay, I'll give you that one. Overall, it looked like the kitchen staff was off that day and was replaced by random people passing by.
My husband has chosen this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We ordered 2 starters and 3 different fish dishes. They were tasty and after dinner my daughter asked me to give a excellent rating to Little Rose.
Visited here at lunchtime, as first venue for a girlie celebration weekend in Cambridge! Very nice indoor table and loved the vibe/décor. Most of my friends ordered from the lunch menu and added a side of fries but I opted for the plant powered cheeseburger which I absolutely demolished as was very tasty. Unfortunately we were too full for desserts.
After a walk in Botanical Gardens, we fancied a Sunday lunch, and this place looked nice with people enjoying their meal. In we went and ordered our food. I had roast pork with crackling, with roast potatoes, carrots, peas, and Yorkshire puddings. My partner had roast beef with the same trimmings. Both were delicious. The staff are friendly but a little inattentive as they forgot the cutlery and the drinks. The atmosphere was good and toilets are clean. I would recommend this place for a nice meal.
Was visiting site with my brother at Monday afternoon time. And we were very excited to try this renewed and refurbished new sea food Restaurant. Have to mention they do also steaks and burgers and ech. Food quality was outstanding: delicious, tasty finger licking good meals. Staff also very helpful, polite and try to keep things smooth and simple. Down side I would say: prices is quite high and waiting time for orders could be more improved. Overall was super satisfied and will definitely come back again and recommend to my friends! 😎👍
Sunday roast was great
Such a great restaurant and lovely staff
I like this restaurant. Nice restaurant with friendly staff. Good variety of delicious food.
Last night I went here for my partners works night out with a few colleagues. Omg! the food was absolutely amazing. We chose the festive menu and it was lush and wow cooked to perfection with devine succulent turkey with fantastic beautifully cooked vegetables and a light flavoursome sauce/gravy. This is truely the best food Ive ever tasted at any restaurant. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was excellent. The food was served within a timely manner. The deserts are to die for and Id highly recommend trying the cherry crumble or the sticky toffee pudding as they were Absolutely beautiful. Ill definitely be coming back here to dine again in the future without a doubt. Its first class and as they say you get what you pay for and this is so worth every penny. Compliments to the chief. 10/10.
Amazing food pleasant staff and lively atmosphere, cant fault this place and will continue to go as often as possible
The little rose is a lovely place to eat just outside of city centre. The food was delicious, great atmosphere and the staff were all incredible. Our waitress Esme had the best service possible, would definitely come again.
Loved everything, 2nd time coming here was better than the first, 3 years ago :) Deniz was nice to me. Will come back!
The Little Rose is a fantastic pub in Cambridge. We were a large party of 12 that had a reservation fall through at a different venue. We called the Little Rose and they accommodated us straight away. They placed us in a great area and were really attentive. The food was great and the service fantastic. Great pub, great staff and great food.
Great for lunch if visiting Fitzwilliam Museum
A disappointing visit. Food was not as hot as it should have been - 1 meal was sent back and 1 was unavailable without being told. Took a long time to take order although not busy Menus had to be asked for despite booking a week before.
Our party of eight ate at Little Rose last night. Both the food and service were excellent. We would throughly recommend it.
Didnt have a reservation but they still made a plan! Manager was an exceptionally character, food was unbelievable, what more do you need
Great food and the service we received was excellent, however the restaurant is looking tired and therefore needs redecorating and the toilets could do with a serious makeover and clean
Came in tye freshly opened Little Rose. The experience was amazing. From the moment we entered the pub the staff were helpful, friendly and professional! Me and my friends sat in the restaurant section and we were taken care from Pedro and Deniz. They were absolutely helpful with recommendations and excellent service! The waitresses Georgia and Tamzin were also really good in their service, checking always if we needed anything extra and making sure everything arrived on time! We had 3 roast beefs. Everything in excellent quality, warm and tasty! Sticky toffee pudding was recommended which I most certainly enjoyed! I highly recommend this place!
Visited in January and got horrific food poisoning from the oysters. Myself and my partner both had 1 oyster each and were violently ill for a good couple of weeks. It actually took months for my stomach to rebalance itself. Suspect it was vibrio. I can see a similar review was left in January on the same day as our visit so I presume the whole batch of oysters that day were riddled with something. I filled out the contact us form on the website to report this but no one ever got back to me. Terrible treatment. Will never eat an oyster again and will certainly never return here. I would advise you to do the same.
Lovely pub, food looked great, and was very popular. Will be back
Loved my visit here, lovely food! I would highly recommend.
Lovely little small courtyard to sit outside and enjoy the English weather and get away from the hussle and bussle of the busy streets. Food looked nice although we didnt have any. We sat outside for some drinks and the staff were very pleasant, we would certainly pop in again. Inside was very nice and toilets well looked after
Everything is wonderful here!
Lovely place, great food, and a lovely couple that manage it... I wish them well.
Lovely pub, with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. We visited on a Sunday, and I had roast chicken, which was well presented and very tasty.
Beautiful inside and out, delicious cocktails and warm and wonderful service
Disappointed. Mediocre food. Steak was cooked well however not left to rest. There was blood all over the plate. Atmosphere was stuffy and quiet.
In no particular order, Deniz, Tima and Tom are an absolute delight. The food is delicious. My favourite table is just that. I have no higher praise...
Really warm welcome, which was the thing that made us come in and sit What a great place Lovely staff, great atmosphere, really relaxing Cant say how much I enjoyed spending some time there today on a hot afternoon A few excellent cold beers Fantastic
The Little Rose in Cambridge is a true gem! The staff are super friendly and the manager is awesome. They really know how to make you feel welcome. Great vibes, exceptional food, and top-class service. Definitely recommend checking it out!
The atmosphere and staff were delightful, and the food was excellent. A big thank you to Deniz for making our visit not only a memorable experience for us but also an unforgettable one for our puppy!
Little Rose is a very beautiful place with the calmness of its garden and the attention of its staff. You should definitely try seafood. Believe me, you will like it very much!
Popped our heads into this restaurant trying to find somewhere to eat earlish on a Sunday evening, and was pleasantly surprised that it was still relatively busy with a good atmosphere but still a few tables free. Food was decent and what you would expect at this price point, with a good range on menu covering family members that wanted a Sunday roast and those after more gastro pub grub. Kids choice good as well. The service was very warm and attentive and makes such a difference when eating out, especially in what you might have as expected in a touristy city. Quality German beer on tap as well!
Always able to get seated in here without booking. Although best to book at busy times. Good fresh fish menu along side other dishes. Staff very attentive and friendly every time we visit. Outside seating available in a side area of the building for food or just drinks. Good menu choice.
We were just casually finding a place to have some food and when we arrived at the restaurant the waitress Deniz or something there had a very unpleasant attitude and was soo rude to us by asking us to take a seat outside but we wished to sit inside..anyway after sitting down outside she was asking the other waiters to make us force our orders fast.. And also they didnt even gave us a proper food menu at the first place. And after all of this we just wanted to get out from there as soon as possible. And we did aswell. This was our first time here planning to have a great time but they dissapointed.. Well not be returning.
Nailed the Fish and Chips, definetly reccomend
Very nice and kind staff, good drinks. I highly recommend this place. Food
Visited The Little Rose after a tiring excursion around Cambridge and it was the perfect spot to unwind. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel right at home. We tried the Pimms, which was refreshing and delicious. Its a charming spot, ideal for a relaxed evening out. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a welcoming pub in Cambridge!
Nice food and service
Literally the best burger sauce in the world and a special thanks to the staff who put up with my slightly mad request for take away burger sauce a few days after eating there
Really nice fish & chips with curry sauce, which tasted unexpectedly delicious!
We came to celebrate with a a family after our daughters HC. Perfect location from the church at OLEM! All guests were very pleased with the food and great service given by Deniz. Thank you so much for looking after us on that special day
Ended up at the Little Rose pub when my other reservation was cancelled on me. Amazing service from the manager down to the waitresses.!
I came for the fish and chips and it was one of the best I ve ever had
Totally awesome. Deniz was great, helpful, understanding of dietary requirements. Dietary restrictions: Keto options. Wonderful
I love this place
Deniz was awesome served for us! I love the atmosphere and food! Thank you
Delicious dishes. A cozy atmosphere. Impeccable service. Dedicated people. I wholeheartedly recommend The Little Rose.
Very cute and comfortable gastro pub! Good food, polite and friendly staff, beautiful decor.
I was looking back through my open table bookings and it seems I have been here four times (although it s more because sometimes others have booked!) so it s about time for a review. It s really nice to have a place that is pretty easily accessible, with friendly service and good food. The only one star off is that it can be a little inconsistent in how good it is. The occasional incredible fish special makes it truly good restaurant territory, but the majority of the menu is more just like a decent pub menu, and also a little too often they don t have everything on the menu, even at lunchtime. Will keep returning though because there is generally something for everyone and the quality is good.
Super friendly service, great food! Highly recommending
A lovely little find, we popped in for a drink after a museum visit and ended up staying for lunch and cocktails as the courtyard area was so welcoming. The food was delicious and served efficiently, quietly and with a smile. Very pleasant and enjoyable all round.
Omg! You should definetly try the Roasted Halibu! It was amazing... Food
Lovely restaurant with great customer experience. The waitress Ha and also the manager were very friendly and they exceed our expectations. The food was delicious. We brought our dog and they treat her as a Queen.
Highly recommend, we came Easter Monday evening so not very busy. Staff were all nice and friendly and the food was really good and well presented. Very much enjoyed our meal this evening thank you. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian choices this evening were rather tasty.
Beautiful pub friendly and accomodating staff a lovely visit
Lovely staff and exceptional fish and chips. Not too oily and perfectly cooked. Absolutely delicious! Loved it. Highly recommended!
We had a family meal at Little Rose, the food was delicious great choice, really good service just how it use to be attentive, gave us space and genuine. Would throughly recommend. Food
Vegetarian options: Superb veggie option roasted med veg on sourdough .. delicious Fantastic service from all the staff but a huge shout out to the very Gorgeous GiGi! Xxx thanks so much we had a beautiful afternoon celebrating my dear friend,, Mandy s 60th birthday.
Booked the night before and mentioned we had a dog which they were very happy to accommodate. Staff are very friendly. Service was very efficient. Seating is comfortable. I only had main, hake with braised leeks, mussels and onion soubise. It was excellent. Desserts were tempting. In all a very satisfying lunch. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu is very good. The fish and chips is same quality as the adult portion and is very reasonably priced.
The food was okay but the service was good.
A delightful dining experience awaits at The Little Rose . The food is exquisite, the atmosphere charming, and a special thanks to Tom for his exceptional service
Received serious case of food poisoning which they tried to cover up. DO NOT eat here. Disgrace of a restaurant which couldnt care less about their customers. Wouldnt feed their food to my dog.
Süper delicious food best fish and chips in Cambridge
Avoid. Food was terrible. Service was out of the Fawlty Towers school of hospitality. They kept saying they were full for lunch but there were always tables free, even up to 2.30pm when we left. The barman was loud and seemed to enjoy throwing empty bottles into the bin from a distance. But mostly the experience stays with you as I can still smell the deep fat fryer results on my clothes. Bring back Loch Fyne.
Perfect place for lunch. Its just opposite the Fitzwilliam museum, making the location really convenient.
Every one of us who went to the dinner got FOOD POISONED. The symptoms were identical. Apparently the food we consumed that night had some issue. We suspect the oyster or the fish had hygiene issue. Guys alert!!!! Need to be cautious!!!
Cosy restaurant serving delicious food.
Very helpful and accommodating staff, delicious food and great drink selection, had a good time definitely coming back
Wonderful as always, a great team and awesome service. Our go to Cambridge lunch spot.
Great food Deniz was very helpful Food
Lovely evening out, great and friendly staff (Deniz). We ordered hake, risotto and venison, all delicious. Thank you!
Excellent lunch! Food was delicious and inventive. Seafood is their specialty but even the burger and fries were excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Lovely for office Christmas Dinner. Very comfortable, great service and lovely food. Definitely recommend.
Had a lovely time very professional and friendly atmosphere will definitely be going back .
Honestly a tremendous restaurant. The staff were very attentive but not overbearing at all. The drinks were really great. We had a selection of drinkers and non drinkers and each person was happy. As for the food... it was 10/10. Great portions, nicely flavour and elegantly presented. Served with a smile. Honestly I wonder where the bad reviews come from. Its opposite one of the most iconic buildings in Cambridge and way from the annoying hustle and bustle. Pop to the eagle for a drink before hand and stroll down to this restaurant for a true Cambridge experience. Thank you little Rose! Little Rose - Big Success. Keep it up. Well be back. P.s. The oysters were so fresh. Must try (if you like oysters)
Great service Great food Great atmosphere much better than than what was Locke fine atmosphere, Dennise was particularly pleasant with a great welcome back to us she would make a great permanent maneger, absolutely charming lady, all other staff very pleasant to.all in all a very pleasant experience.
Excellent staff. We went in as a group and in the end just had a drink as very limited choice for veggie options
Hmm. Difficult, basically felt ripped off. 50% off - well thats a joke, unless you have your solicitor read the T&Cs. Tiger Prawns in smoked garlic 3 x £11.00 delicious but ridiculously expensive(£33 +£5.50 for a handful of French fries). Halibut, spinach mash & a smudged hollandaise sauce - all dried out under the pass . A third of a glass of a no name champagne £10.50. And lets just top it off with a 12 5% service charge. Sad, but just cannot recommend
What can I say, but what an excellent meal, service and atmosphere. We went straight into mains and had the halibut. It was just simple, greatly cooked food. We didnt talk to each other whilst we ate it; just enjoyed the food. My wife is dairy free and they cooked the fish with different potatoes and sauce so she could have the dish. Too many restaurants just tell you what on the menu is dairy free. Here the chef was prepared to cook something different and equally good. Followed by dairy free chocolate mouse (far better than the ubiquitous sorbet!) and cheese and biscuits. A must visit restaurant. Well done to the team.
Delicious food and absolutely brilliant service. Knowledgeable, attentive and friendly!
Glad the mains were 50% off(only if you were registered on the website) otherwise would ve been very disappointed about the quality of the foods. Starters were okay, although scallops were only seared one side and almost burnt as you can see in the picture and inside was not cooked evenly or thoroughly, which shows the level of the restaurant. Cuttlefish pasta was overcooked badly that the spaghetti was too soft and chopped off easily and almost had no taste, very bland dish with only chillies in it. Same for risotto, flavour of mushrooms was good but the rice was way beyond al dente , certainly not how it should be. Hake was alright but the portion was too small and didn t go very well with the sauce as it was quite sweet. Whole Grilled sole was the best perhaps it was cooked well and finally something worth the price. Service was bit slow, but I understand as the restaurant was busy and only had 3 waitresses. Atmosphere is not bad, just feels like classic pub but the tables were bit uncomfortable and dangerous too as it was bit damaged. Wouldn t be so excited to return again anytime soon unless there s a promotion like this.
Excellent food in a beautiful ambience.
Fish dishes are lovely, but others not so great. Roast okay but not the best value for the price, average quality. Go for fish! They really cook that well, whether starter or main.
Gorgeous food, cosy atmosphere, excellent staff, highly recommend
Ate here a few days after opening. Nice ambience and good menu. Reasonably priced and wide-ranging wine list, including a good range of by-the-glass options. Food ranged from decent to good. Nice oysters and mussels; good fish pie; pork belly a bit bland and not cooked especially well. Service was really good and friendly. Felt good value on their introductory 50% off offer, but wonder whether its really worth the full menu price.
I was here for celebrating with a group of 15. The services are so gooood. Im impressed. All staffs are nice! The food is amazinggg. Oyster and Scott eggs are the best in town. The wine lists are many choices. We will be back again soon!
The food here is great, thank you guys! Staff is super friendly and the place itself is nice.
We had a wonderful dinner at this place. All food was amazing and the stuff was extremely friendly.
Great addition to the pub scene in Cambridge. Nicely decorated, friendly staff and a great choice of drinks.
Lovely place lovely pub and beautiful food! Will recommended to everyone!
Lovely meal in comfortable & stylish surroundings. Friendly, helpful & welcoming staff. Will definitely return.
Super cosy restaurant and bar with great staff and amazing food. Would recommend to anyone who is local or just visiting Cambridge. Triple Cooked Chips are to die for!
Food was delicious.
Pleasant gastro pub - trying to be too many things and retain some of the Loch Fyne echos - Food was nice - small portions and top end of money - On our visit 31/01/23 - various items were missing from menu - soup, duck, crab to name but a few - including the signature Oysters - Sad to see Loch Fyne go and unfortunately its replacement doesnt quite meet expections of value for money.
High hopes and disappointed. Loved Loch Fyne and as 50% off food in Jan decided to give it a go. Long wait on food. Portion sizes are a joke especially for the prices. Lobster and prawn cocktail to start, I think I found 1 tiny piece of lobster and 3 prawns with a ton of lettuce. Lots of items were off the menu: a soup, the duck, the crab, the oysters. Mains partner had the pork which he said was nice but tiny and less than a table spoon of mash on the side no veg for £18! I had fish pie doe a similar price which was small and bland - I could cook better at home. Really disappointed we won t be returning on full prices and feel a bit miffed even at paying the 50% off for what we got and experienced.
Great food and service. It really an enjoyable lunch!
This branch of Loch Fyne has closed and recently been reopened as The Little Rose. We had lunch there today and, since the staff (some of whom previously worked at Loch Fyne) were extolling the virtues of the Tandoori Mutton Stew, I thought, Well, thats not something I would normally order, but lets give it a go.... And, boy, was it delicious! I would very happily go back and have exactly the same thing again. The lemon panna cotta with pear was also very tasty. (Those who, like me, have memories of the old Little Rose before Loch Fyne can rest assured that this is a rather different dining experience!) So, only one visit so far, but theyre off to a good start and it wont be long before we come back!
Very delicious mussels, mushroom soup, gnocchi and crab bisque linguine. Cosy atmosphere and lovely staff. They had the fireplace running when we were dining there. Really enjoyed my dinner.
Tasty roasts, with fast and friendly service!
Fab meal, great food service and atmosphere
Went to the little rose for lunch on my break at work, had the rib eye steak which was fabulously cooked, beer was lovely and had a great choice of spirits to accommodate any taste Shout out Georgia for the great service and being so friendly and kind!!
Little Rose was delightful, staff fabulous, food very good, would definitely return, well done GK was exceptionally surprised,
Owned by Greene King and labeling itself as a gastro pub, its more expensive than youd like for. Apub and the menu is mainly seafood with some meat options. The scallop starter for 9 pounds has a serving of 4 small scallops, the burger is basic bread, lettuce cheese, and the fries were mostly just deep fried batter. But what upset me most was the prawn cocktail which consists of one large prawn - head, shitsack and all, which requires some more peeling than you would want for 11 quid. The atmosphere is aimed to be fancy but the food just didnt reflect it. The price did.
overcooked pasta without salt, with poorly minced crab and a strange combination with cheese and peppers. The night before fish and chips with the fish leaking frying oil
Had a really lovely evening here with my husband. The food and service was outstanding and really good value for the quality and portion size. It has a lovely romantic ambiance and was perfect for a date night. We had been to The Ivy the night before which is always amazing but we both agreed the food we had here was better. Highly recommended
Excellent service, and amazing food. Friendly and beautiful staff. The place has already become one of my favourites.
Lovely atmosphere Good service Food was mediocre 3 drinks, 2 Starter, 2 Mains £94
Had two great experiences here, food is amazing but so is the customer service! Super friendly :)
Super place buzzing with customers and with funny charming attentive staff. Great food gives an all round marvellous experience
Sunday lunch for three, so nearly a 5 star rating, staff are all lovely and the service is good, just the food a tad disappointing, prawn and lobster cocktail was tasty but mostly lettuce, the roast beef my son had was very very fatty sadly, desserts were very good, will give it another go for sure
We went for an early Mothers Day lunch today. We travelled from another town just to eat some quality seafood. It turned out seafood sharers were not available so we ended up ordering other food. At the end my plate (sea bass) was small, but decent. However my husband and daughter had an overpriced crab bisque linguini. My daughter left her plate, ate half of my fish. Not much choice in the main dishes menu and a disappointing experience when you set your mind to eat seafood. We spent almost 100 pounds in our meal and ended up going to another restaurant afterwards to satisfy our cravings. If you really fancy seafood it is probably better to look for other options.
Good food, value, service and location
Delicious Mother s Day prix fixe, and an amazing deal for hearty and delicious food. Good amount of options as well. Would highly recommend. Nice atmosphere and friendly service.
I booked a table for 2 online the day before (credit card details requested). We were seated at a terrible table, wedged in an area that is basically a hallway where they jammed in 14 covers (see photo of the partial area). I requested to change to a corner table in (what I thought) was a roomier spot in that same area and unknowingly sat next to a table of 8 who arrived shortly after we ordered. Date night ruined as we could not hear each other or have a basic conversation. Disappointed that we were not told about the group (nothing against them). Food was good - some dishes better than others. Scallops OK, prawn & lobster cocktail had no discernible lobster, aged flank burger contained an unexpected tomato which my husband has an intolerance but the most disappointing dish was my fish & chips which had strange hollowed out fries (see photo) described as salt & vinegar chips (no taste of vinegar) and pea liquor which was mushy peas stuffed in a tiny pitcher. Desserts of chocolate mousse and sticky toffee pudding very good. Friendly service but the restaurant showed bad judgement seating a table of 2 in a small area next to a big group. A good gastronomic experience includes the ambience and it really stings to have paid over £100 for a ruined date night. Little Rose aware of this feedback given last month but no response.
Absolutely delicious food graciously served in a charming setting!!
Nice Sunday lunches. Kids portions were huge. Staff super friendly. Gnocci was a little bland for my taste. Cauliflower could be cheesier. Both fish dishes were received very well. Quite pricey for 3x courses.
Lovely staff, lovely food, would highly recommend
The offers on the sign outside the restaurant (two dishes 20 pounds - three dishes 25 pounds) do not correspond to the moment of payment, as two dishes cost 20 pounds is the absurd offer and that the third dish costs 25 pounds, when at the paper cost at most half as much. Maybe because Im not English but a tourist.
Good food, nice atmosphere
Nice pub / restaurant. Nice ambience. Food good quality. Good service. Will be going back
One of the best restaurants to visit in Cambridge....... May be entire UK First restaurant where the staff was willingly happy to do service. Most UK restaurants have poker faced and tired to serve staff. Some though have very good too. Atmosphere was great Absolutely fantastic place to have a meal with loved ones Food was good too Overall..... A MUST VISIT
Vegetarian options: All perfectly done
We went for an evening meal for my Mums birthday on a Saturday. The atmosphere was good - nice buzz but not too loud, despite it being busy. The right amount of time waiting for food and drinks. Staff were super friendly and professional and even put a surprise candle on my Mums dessert. Food was excellent. Toilets were great. Thoroughly recommend. Kid-friendliness: Nice kids menu.
Great atmosphere, good food. Amazing fish and chips. Esp the chips :) Reading reviews it seems the reviews have been dampened due to the lower reviews when this was the older owner/ a different establishment shame this place deserves a higher overall rating!! Will go again!!!
Among the fish and chips, sea bass and herb chicken, the sea bass is the best, full of fish flavor. Herbal chicken is also unique, with tender and smooth meat. The restaurant environment is good. The waiters were polite, unfortunately they seemed a bit understaffed.
the food was ok, but left much to be desired especially given its price. the restaurants predecessor, loch fyne (from which it seems to have inherited many google reviews), was way better we had the thai prawn toast (very salty!) and sourdough bread (was it actually sourdough?) as starters, and the crab bisque linguine as our mains. the linguine was very dry 3 stars for its food. 1-2 stars if I consider the service and price too
The place was wonderful and the food was delicious.
Food was tasty and the staff friendly
Great place, sea bass was lovely
Cosy atmosphere Parking: Parking is available in the Lion Yard car park. Spaces on the nearby streets are rarely available. Some bicycle parking is available on Trumpington Street. Parking options Parking is unavailable
Brilliant food and the owner was such a character!
Nice atmosphere friendly professional staff our starters mains were fresh delicious recommend Vegetarian options: Few veg options starters mains delicious
Absolutely lovely little find. Fab food fab service by the gentleman and young girl! Would definitely recommend. Thank you from the east london traveller hopefully see you again :)
Beautiful pub and very friendly service. We were looked after so well and left very happy :)
Great food and drinks, the staff is also very nice
Very correct restaurant. They have good fish. Highly recommended to vary from the traditional hamburger.
Very pricey gastro pub, with no cask ale. Was pretty dead on a Tuesday. Staff were super attentive, but with £6 pints and £5 chips they can afford to be. Still, if youre looking to impress, the fancier food is pretty striking - but dont expect any crisps, etc. at the bar. And, at £70 for a sharing platter, you best sort out your finances before coming.
Great little pub spot when in Cambridge. We found that the menu was really intriguing with both myself and my girlfriend going for the salmon filet and whole plaice which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The prawn cocktail was certainly one to order if you are a fan of seafood.
One of the best Sunday lunches have had in a long time beef was lovely and full of flavour as a chef I wish I could make something so tasty
Fabulous meal and atmosphere, the service was excellent. One start off for the pavlova not being a pavlova - it was a meringue with mascarpone and plums whereas a pavlova has a crispy outer with a soft, almost chewy centre - very different if youre Antipodean.
This was our first visit to Little Rose having been previously when it was Loch Fyn. Although a busy Fathers Day lunch time our food was fantastic with fresh oysters and some mains from the specials board. Service could not be faulted with all staff very welcoming and friendly. Special thank you to Pedro who served us, was super friendly and made our visit even more enjoyable. We will be back!
Wonderful dinner with friends. The owner suggested things for each course and they couldnt have been better. Halibut special and Sticky toffee were amazing. Recommend starting with the oysters.
Excellent cuisine!
What a great transformation since the last incarnation. Great atmosphere. The food is good but not fabulous. Food
Delicious vegetarian curry, scrumptious!
The beef roast was good. Those of us who had anything but beef roast didn t love it.
Food, service and very cozy. Surely is one of the best pubs in Cambridge.
Wondering round Cambridge we came across the Little Rose . We just wanted a small dish before eating later. We chose a plate of charcuterie and bread from an extensive menu plus a bottle of Prosecco - on special, all served by a lovely member of staff called Deniz who looked after us very well and was charming. We will return for a full meal as the menu is extensive with a selection of delicious sounding fish dishes and specials. I wish they were my local
The interior design is a great improvement from when it was Loch Fyne and there is much better use of the space. The service is always lovely, the staff are welcoming. The menu has plenty of options however only 2 mains for vegans: Roast squash gnocchi, chestnuts, sage, toasted seeds and Potato & beetroot curry, candied cashews, coconut rice, kale pakora. The 2 vegan dishes that were on the Loch Fyne menu were also gnocchi and curry so it feels lazy that they re so similar. They could definitely add some more interesting and tastier plant-based dishes. They re not necessarily bad at the moment, but are lacking that OOMPH I get from the other dishes. Although, everything else I ve tried from the menu has been delightful so far. Here s some starters I recommend: Potted duck & pistachio, orange marmalade, truffle butter, brioche (however the brioche could be served toasted, or change the brand) Burrata, roast beetroot & orange, toasted hazelnuts, salted cracker Crab Thermidor tart, crispy kale (beautiful!) Smoked mackerel arancini, Parmesan, chipotle aioli If you are to visit as a group, I highly recommend ordering a few starters and maybe 1 or 2 mains to share between you rather than getting 1 starter each and a main each. The mains are good, but the starters are amazing and you wanna try as many starters as possible. It s also more economic. From the mains, give these a try: Crab bisque linguini, Romano peppers, basil, Parmesan Maple glazed porchetta, smoked garlic potato, puffed crackling, apple gravy Tandoori mutton pie, saffron crushed potatoes, mint yoghurt Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. It may feel expensive, but come in Monday-Friday between 12 and 6pm and there is a set menu available: 2 courses for £20, or 3 courses for £25. PLEASE change the vegan options and add more of them. It wouldn t hurt to get rid of one or two meat dishes and have 4 vegan dishes. Your vegan customers will be very happy about it, I m sure, and you ll have more omnivores going for the vegan option too. Another complaint I have is the music, it wouldn t hurt to refresh the playlist every once in a while. Play more sophisticated music: smooth jazz, ambient, soul, etc. I d be happy to make the new playlist for free! Great job with the new place, guys. I will definitely be coming again, thank you!
Excellent food. Dont forget the desert. Very nice staff. If you are near the Fitzwilliam museum its right across the street.
Great food taste, staff were all lively and welcoming. Cozy atmosphere and accessible for wheelchair users.
Was visiting Cambridge and decided to stop by for fish and chips. It was great as stated by prior reviewers. Staff was also exceptional, espicially Georgia as she was attentive and friendly.
My experience of this restaurant spoiled by overly priced poorly presented meal.Would not go again
The food was excellent, but service was slow.
Really tired of places (especially fancy and expensive places) not knowing how to cater to vegetarians/vegans. The menu said vegan fish and chips with no added detail what the substitute would be. Turns out it was just a deep fried block of tofu which was so bad it was hilarious! Just call it that on the menu, it has no relation to fish and chips - it didn t even come with peas! Also my partners steak was cooked differently than he asked for, and the chips weren t that great. Only leaving a review as to give some advice on how to present vegetarian or vegan dishes. Lovely atmosphere and location!
Food was nice but on the pricey side.
I love sea food very much but I have never eaten as delicious Oysters as I had in Little Rose. And their Fish &Chips! . No words can describe how different it was from all the Fish & Chips I have ever had around the country. Unless you try it yourself you wouldn t understand what I mean. Staff was amazing,so welcoming, relaxed and friendly. Cocktails was so enjoyable. Price was so reasonable too. Definitely will be visiting Cambridge specially for Little Rose.
Delicious food and excellent service!
A beautiful little authentic English style restaurant. Super nice waitresses. Absolutely on point. For someone like me who doesnt like fish, I was really pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. And anyone who complains about the prices doesnt know that quality also has its price. So if you want to eat delicious, high quality fish and chips in Cambridge, youve come to the right place. And lets be honest, treating yourself to something and taking great memories with you is priceless anyway. A big thank you and all thumbs up. Keep it up, we look forward to next time. A big thank you from Germany
Been here a few times and every time the service and food is outstanding.
Much too expensive for the quality.
Had a very good meal here in cosy surroundings. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Great menu choices. I had the soft shell crab burger which was very tasty. My friend really enjoyed the green Thai curry. The puddings, sticky toffee pudding and cheese cake were delicious. The cocktails were great too.
I took my daughter here for her birthday. Shes autistic and hasnt left the house in months, so when she asked to go to a seafood restaurant, I was delighted to take her somewhere local. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, although it did take a while for it to arrive. It was tasty though and everyone was very friendly. I particularly enjoyed the music. However, the vegan desert presentation was questionable, I think perhaps next time, it would be better presented in a bowl a( it just sat there - a loose mousse with some sort of salad greens on top - it looked like a salad rather than desert. The food was tasty though. The cauliflower was still raw, the cheese on top was warm and quite solid still, so that was another point. Lastly, it was my daughters birthday, Id been told I couldnt take cake but theyd put a candle on her plate for her which didnt happen. Shes 20 and they refused to serve her a cider. So all in all, for me, those points made it disappointing but the food itself was very delicious, just need a notch up on the presentation. I do wish she got a sparkler, as promised, and I could have ordered a cider and given it to her but I didnt think theyd refuse her. I did think if you were in a restaurant, you didnt have to be 18 or over, but she was 20. I even offered to show a photo of her passport and driving license on my phone, but was refused.
Amazing service, good food
Pedro was amazing! We had a delicious meal ! If you look for a seafood place in Camb, this is def a place to try
Had a great dinner here! Lovely cosey atmosphere, and good honest food cooked well.
Lovely Turkish person working at the bar. Gave us some cream for a bee sting we got nearby. Then allowed us to bring our dog inside also. What a welcome. Service
Great food and lovely, helpful staff. Would have given it 5 stars if our small round table hadnt been quite so close to the next one. My husband was nearer to the man on the next table than he was to me, opposite him!
Slow and poor. Loud group of diners allowed to shout and swear. Complained to Manager who was a limp as the lettuce in my salad.
The noodles were overcooked which is not acceptable for a restaurant, while the servicer is nice, providing food suggestions on wine.
Dropped in on Saturday evening without a reservation. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice selection of dishes and a cosy restaurant feeling. Dropped a star due to our table which was very small and really close to another, and my wifes food came out of the kitchen a bit on the cold side; mine was perfect. Would eat here again.
Lovely.
Nice place to get a pre- dinner drink. Staff were polite and friendly. Decor stylish. Good atmosphere.
Great food, amazing service! Very friendly team and great value for food. Everyone is attentive and run the extra miles to attend to any queries! Highly recommend this place.
Really excellent meal at Little Rose tonight. We had the jumbo tiger prawns and the halibut from the specials menu as well as the smoked salmon starter and all three were amazing. Beautifully cooked, wonderful flavour. Desserts were also lovely; the sticky toffee pudding was genuinely one of the best I ve ever had. Cozy atmosphere, attentive service (the side of fries came out late and the manager came to tell us it was taken off our bill without us saying a word of complaint). I would highly recommend this restaurant and hope to come back soon myself!
We stopped in for lunch one weekday and sat in the lovely courtyard. We were served by Deniz, who was wonderfully warm and considerate. She took particular care to make sure our 4 year old was comfy. The food was very good, particularly the scotch eggs, and the sea bass with chorizo. Also had a nice selection of ales.
Best restaurant in Cambridge for Seafood and Roast. Amazing decorations and very good music. We had oysters followed by Halibut and Roast beef. Service was very attentive and great wine recommendation. Definitely go back again
The food is just ok- we had a fair mix of starters and mains, none of which was remarkable, all of which were overpriced. They have no cask ales on tap and an odd selection of other beers. All of that could have been ok and we still couldve had a nice Sunday afternoon experience, but the service was abysmal. It took ages to order our food and drinks, three separate servers to actually bring the water we asked for on the first order, and at least an extra 15 minutes to get the bill when it was time to leave. Id return to any of the other pubs in Cambridge before going back here.
Thank you Deniz!! Lovely hospitality and oysters!!
Not a good meal here. Maybe because of communication/expectation issues? For example, I was greatly looking forward to coconut rice, which ended up being plain rice with coconut flakes. My dining companion ordered the halibut special, which was a small flat piece of fish, tough potatoes with a poor texture, and a slight drizzle of hollandaise sauce. When she mentioned to the server it was not enough (after she was asked how the meal could improve), the server told us we should have asked for more hollandaise how could we when we never saw her? She very kindly discounted our bill and encouraged us to try again. We left hungry and ended up at Brown s down the street, where we had a much better experience. A fine evening with a kind server and nice atmosphere, but doesn t seem to be a place to go for your entree.
On our day trip to Cambridge we found this cosy and charming restaurant . My husband ordered veal and I had scallop . Both meal were delicious Ms Deniz who served us was very friendly and kind . Service was so professional . I highly recomend this restaurant to everyone who lives or visit Cambridge . Many Thanks to everyone in Little Rose .
We had butter chilli squids and pumpkin soup for starter baked Hake and beef , love the plating, and food was amazing Thank you for the wonderful service, Denise
After visiting for a nice relaxed lunch with friends, we got welcomed from the amazing Pedro who made our afternoon amazing. Highly recommended the cuttlefish pasta which was delicious! Highly recommended Food : 5/5
Lovely lunch was looked after by Stefanie. Will definitely be back for the next celebration.
Very good food very good service
I visited Cambridge for the day and had a lovely lunch here with my son, our dog and two of my sisters . All the team were so very welcoming and warm that I would visit Cambridge again just to eat at Little Rose again! My dog Finn also received lovely treatment with some tasty morsels of venison! The pub itself is very cosy and had a particularly festive feel to it. I wish Id asked the name of the wonderful team member who served us as she deserves a special mention for looking after Mels lunch kooking so well on Monday 11 Dec. Thank you once again and Merry Christmas to the Little Rose family!
