Ambience and atmosphere are great without question. Its nicely decorated and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Its not cheap but it is a city centre establishment so I guess no surprises. However, for all the plusses, the food lets it down. Those of us that didnt have the KFC were rather disappointed for the food was only average and we left underwhelmed! It was only made more disappointing by adding beef to the noodle dish and then only getting 4 small pieces. Hardly worth the effort requesting it. So go for the KFC - it was great!

Alex, who cooked our lemon sole, can cook fish. I have never wanted to not finish...it was exquisite. Thankyou for a fabulous meal.

This was an excellent meal with some lovely, deconstructed dishes that were beautifully presented and generally very well designed. Parts of the meal verge from gastronomy into art - the mushroom starter was really amazing in this regard. Highly recommend for a great meal in Cambridge.

Really amazing food and superb wine list! We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant. There were also several vegetarian and vegan options and although Im not either, I decided to try it as a main and it was lovely! My husband had a wonderfully cooked rabbit & pheasant. To me the cherry on the cake was the wine menu. There were so many excellent and unusual wines, including a wine from Japan, Susumaniello from Puglia and many more. Besides, there was an extensive explanation about each individual wine. We cant wait to go back again!

I past by this place with my mum I sat down & on the board it said £2.90 for a cuppachino & £2.90 for a Coissant, but when I recieved the bill it was £3.90 for a cuppachino & £3.90 for the Coissant. It wasnt the price so much it was the fact I was mislead & then when I spoke to the waiter things got even worse when I said I wanted to speak to the manager as he replied I totally agree with but theres no point in speaking with the manager because they dont care so I said Ill put up a bad review & he said yes do that because they wont care. WOW!! couldnt believe it so heres the honest review

We ordered the Eggs Benedict. Unfortunately the eggs were overcooked and the Hollandaise sauce was so acidic. They offered to do it again, but the person that was with me didnt want stay longer. Needs Really to improve the chefs skills

We chose the British menu, and a 10% service charge was added to the bill by default. Advantages: The dining environment is good, the decoration is simple and elegant, and there are two menus to choose from, British and Chinese. Disadvantages: The food is served slowly. We only got the food half an hour after placing the order. The juice that was served at the beginning was almost finished. The service was average, and I didnt even ask about the food.

The main restaurant is upstairs with views over the market square. We popped in for a cooked breakfast with great views and delicious food. The restaurant was quiet on Saturday morning giving us a great table overlooking the market. We enjoyed a full English and Eggs Benedict. There were plenty of savoury, sweet and cooked options for veggies and carnivores. The location is excellent, the food was fair value and the service was good. We shall return!

We had a wonderful evening at Market House. We d been looking for a venue that could host a table of 16 and a lot of places in Cambridge either couldn t host our party or had an extra charge for a suitable room. Market House offered us a private dining room at no extra cost and gave use an evening to remember. The food, drinks and venue were all great & the team really looked after us well.

Was greeted by an older gentleman who was extremely polite and welcoming. I was served yesterday by a lady with an auburn pixie cut, who was so lovely. Today that same gentleman greeted me and I was served by a lovely handsome chap. Exquisite customer service. Extremely welcoming place, and for someone outside of the area, it was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much!

Ate here for lunch today with my girlfriend. The food was delicious and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. The front of house staff were friendly and welcoming. We originally planned to have three courses from the à la carte menu, but the food arrived so painfully slow that we had to settle on just two courses. We both enjoyed the food we had, but I ran out of patience waiting. This is my only criticism and overall I would go back again.

Very smart restaurant and coffee shop with a warm welcome. Only drawback is there are steps (quite a few and quite steep) if you wish to eat inside. We only had coffee but the menu looked very good.

Came on a horrible wet July (!) evening which may have accounted for it being quiet on a Friday. We had the asparagus and the terrine starters with cod and the catch of the day (perfectly cooked salmon) for main. All was beautifully presented and tasty - great place for a quality meal out

Nice place, service was good by our water on 1st floor. This was our second visit and we have decided to try the Asian kitchen instead of the traditional which was great at the time The service was again great like the first time and the water was the same from few months ago. We have waited for our starters exactly 30 minutes from the time we have ordered them. That was approximately 12:45 so not busy at all so no excuse to wait 30 minutes for a starter which wasn t great at all. The tempura was not good as well as the pork Bao and myself and my wife still feel sick. The main was okay but totally unseasoned and honestly not worth it. We won t be tasting the Asian menus ever again, big mistake.

Terrible, overpriced and rude staff AVOID!!! We wasn t told we couldn t have any alcohol and there was no conversation of that context, the staff excuse was that we was being loud. We are far from loud but I m glad we chose to go to a more friendly and more reasonably priced establishment. That s a lie, you refused to serve us at all. Blaming intoxication as a excuse that wasn t the case

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of the Town During a special celebration for a friends PhD achievement, we were delighted to discover this restaurants impeccably clean, bright, and modern interior. Opting for the Asian menu led us to a cozy corner spot in the downstairs area, offering an intimate dining experience. The menu, though concise, presented a diverse selection of Asian dishes. The highlight for me was the Korean-style fried chicken, which was exceptionally flavorful. The tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) and stir-fried glass noodles were also standout dishes, both delivering on taste and texture. My friends were particularly fond of the Chinese-style pork belly and the crispy duck leg, praising their authentic flavors. We further indulged in sharing plates of Japanese-style tempura and yakitori, which were delightful. While we might not be experts on authenticity, our group, hailing from various Asian backgrounds, found the fusion of flavors to be both innovative and satisfying. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in town, perfect for anyone looking to explore a refined mix of Asian cuisines in a welcoming and stylish setting.

We ate dinner at MH Asia. Great service. Disappointing food - really tough duck leg and only one bao bun (lots of raw unseasoned cabbage in the disguise of slaw), overcooked small tempura prawns, non-crispy kimchi pancake, uninteresting sauces (siracha dominant, no other flavour). Sake served room temperature. Great location but won t be going back due to food.

We went for dinner during Cambridge restaurant week and ate in the cellar part which is Market House Asia. The food was really tasty and very well prepared. I had the aubergine Bao bun and 3/4 people had the Korean fried chicken for main. Both were very tasty and would be back to try more as the menu has a lot of great choices. The cellar itself is lovely with nice vibes. Only shame was it was a Tuesday evening so a little quiet. Service was really nice.

It s really lovely to have an independent restaurant in Cambridge that has good quality modern British food without gimmicks. Our meals - which were all fish - were beautifully prepared and really well balanced. We had scallops, fish terrine, and a salmon main course which were all wonderful. I thought the quality of the food was really excellent for the price and just right for a nice evening out. Drinks selection was great with plenty of alcoholic and non alcoholic options. The atmosphere was really nice with tables filling up fast even though we d booked in for a very early 6pm dinner. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the surroundings were nicely thought out. Really great to overlook the market square and people watch too. I d definitely come back and would consider having a post-graduation meal out here and certainly would be a go-to if I have friends or family visiting. Would be really keen to try the Asian portion of the menu perhaps at lunchtime. Thanks a lot for having us!

There are two separate restaurants. We ate at the Asian one. Food and service were good, no complaints. My favourite thing was the wine list. Loved reading the detailed descriptions.

The Asian food in the wine bar was absolutely fantastic. Some of the nicest Asian food we had had in the UK in a lovely setting.

Had high hopes for this place given all the five star reviews. Food was sooooo slow. Starter portions were tiny. Four small pieces of chicken for the Korean starter. My beetroot goats cheese salad only had four 1cm pieces of beetroot. Steak was chewy, mash was lumpy. Everything was heavily soaked in butter and salt. Servers were nice but that s about it. Would not recommend.

Dinned on 30th December. Food, service and atmosphere all lovely. Waitress without prompting took my wife through the menu to explain how dishes could be adjusted to take into account her dietary requirements. Would definitely go back.

Absolutely AMAZING! such a great place to be at any time. There is amazing lunch menu in place, we had Suffolk lobster and crab macaroni... OMG it was so smooth and simply delicious. Fresh ingredients makes extrem deference. Their coffee and home baked cakes are incredible! As we was told such a delicious cakes are made mainly by Maddie, young and talented chef. (well done Maddie!) Our evening experience wasnt any less pleasant. We started our journey from wine Bar. Stunning place, 76 wines to choice from including many British wines but also more exotics, like Japanese, chines wines and sake. Service was absolutely excellent! We must to bring our friends with us next time. Moving forward to 1st floor fine dining restaurant... So elegant and welcoming :) My Dinner choice was: Roasted lion of Rabbit... It comes with king prawns, scallions, baby spinach, parsnip pure and Light whisky cream... Speechless! Their was not even a one thing i could be not happy with. Vegetarian options: Beautiful vegetarian options like : wild mushrooms and chestnut pate or Cambridge blue mousse etc Kid-friendliness: Good children menu options ans high chairs Wheelchair accessibility: Due to the age of the building (181 years old) building couldnt be covered to be wheelchairs friendly. However this place have out side seatings where you can have a lunch, coffee or wine.

The Restaurant has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The seating area is on the 2nd floor on a closed area. The staff were very friendly and offered the best products on the menu! I highly recommend the Mango Mule mocktail! Very refreshing and goes very well with their Korean style Chicken and Kimchi! As a main I had the Macaroni with St Helena cheese and I asked for it to have chicken instead of crayfish and it was amazing! Would recommend to anyone!! And I would definitely come here again!!

The wine tasting nights held here are great fun with lovely wines for discussing. We had dinner here after the wine tasting experience and was so impressed with the quality of the restaurant, service, ambiance and most importantly the food. We take food and wine very seriously and I personally feel this is one of the best meals I have had in a long time..thank you for a evening to remember. Definitely recommend!

I d like to see some cleaner veggie dishes that are gluten free and dairy-free, that s my reservation. Just had afternoon tea once and I am not appropiate to comment. Service is nice, youngsters waitresses are energetic.

Visited the Market House for a special occasion (wedding anniversary) and it most definitely was. Nice ambience, very attentive staff and a menu offering something a little different. I chose the scallops to start, venison for the main and rounded it off with the rhubarb creme brulee. All beautifully presented and washed down with a nice bottle of red. Its high end so not the cheapest but well worth pushing the boat out for. Give it a try if you havent already especially if youre celebrating and want something a bit special.

The enviroment is super! Love the food, it is so so so tasty! I love the sea bream and the pork! Its a good place to have some relaxing time with friends.

We had arrived at the restaurant where our hosts were waiting for us, when we were seated, we ordered drinks, which were three beers, and a glass of white wine and we also had warmed slices of bread with small knobs of butter, both my sister and the father ordered two starters, which were Steamed Asparagus with Feta, Toasted Hazelnuts, Lemon and Herb Dressing, Mixed Seeds and Pancetta for my sister, and Seared Scallops, Black Pudding Bon Bon with Apple and Celeriac. We ordered Mains, the Father had Sea Trout with Mussels, Clams and Pea and Baby Gem Fricassee, Parisienne Potatoes and a Shellfish Bisque, the Daughter had Hereford Sirloin Steak, with Fries, Garlic Mushroom, Grilled Tomato and Peppercorn Butter, and we both had Fish of the Day, which was Halibut Fillet with Buttered Spinach, Samphire, Jersey Royal Potatoes and Caper Butter. For Dessert the Father had Caramelised Lemon Tart, Honey and Lavender Ice Cream with Raspberries, the Daughter and both of us had scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream with Strawberries and Blueberries each Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available Dietary restrictions: Dietary questions were asked to us by our waitress, for example if anyone had any food allergies

Had a lovely anniversary meal heal. Food was excellent, exceptionally tasty. Staff were super friendly. Decour was very nice. Wine and beer were decent. The price was very high, though. I would recommend it and like to visit again for a special occasion.

Had a fantastic evening with my wife. Service was great as was all the food (and cocktails ). First time we d been but would highly recommend. We ate downstairs in the wine bar, that was a far more intimate quiet setting compared to the main upstairs restaurant and serves exactly the same food.

Being based in London, Id be used to paying ffar more and getting much less, but the whole experience was excellent. Four of us came for dinner Aug 2023. Super friendly service, we were made to feel very welcome and the food was outstanding, my scallops were as good as I ve ever eaten, I had catch of the day (sadly no photo) I was to excited about eating it and figured a plate of picked clean bones wouldn t look that appealing. We don t have many restaurants in Cambridge worth visiting but this one should be on your list.

Hosted an event here. Many people dropped out as they said the menu wasnt inspiring. Venue and staff brilliant. £14.95 for a glass of wine is ridiculous. The plaice I wanted wasnt d boned so I went for the monkfish. It was ok but really not worth £27. Wouldnt return

Came for a take out coffee and was served by André who was very welcoming and friendly. Great quality coffee that tastes expensive for only £3.50 which is less than places like Starbucks charge! Calm environment with very fancy vibe, I hope to come here again in the future for food!

My wife and I went in for coffee and cake which quickly became lunch once we saw the menu. Great food, attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Will go back for sure.

Food is above average in Cambridge but service is quite slow. Decoration is eclectic. This can be an elevated place but not overly classy place to treat some patient guests in the heart of the market square. The bread is pricy but tastes better than expected. Nicely toasted. Crusty shell, soft and moist inside. Smoked salmon salad is pretty and tasty. Korean fried chicken is juicy, although the first bite reminds me more of General Tsao than Gochujang. String beans are stir-fry style, which is good. Scallops are nicely seasoned, so is the black pudding ball. The apple dressing is refreshing. (As a main course the portion is too small for an adult, with only three scallops All dishes come with petite size to save room for two courses, but anyone choosing scallops should consider a more substantial starter or additional sides.) Sirloin is decent. The mushroom is particularly lovely. The lemon tart is beautifully presented and delicious. How delightful is the bright yellow and magenta color! The tart is not solid but indulgently gooey. The strong lemony taste balances the sweetness and the sorbet is airy and super refreshing. Service is friendly but really slow. The timing between the courses can be better paced. We are already beyond hungry when the main dish finally arrives. Perhaps the kitchen needs to improve its capacity and efficiency. Our food eventually sped up when other tables left.

I hate bad reviews, but this is only fair. We looked forward to this after the good reviews, but it was ultimately a really disappointing experience. We went for my birthday meal. Since it was a special occasion, we ordered sparkling wine. The waiter couldnt open it. Ill spare the blow by blow, but ultimately, it took 35 minutes from ordering the wine to having a drink on the table. By this time the starters had been served and we were half way through mains. Despite this, they charged us the full price. Things go wrong in hospitality, but the way they dealt with this was poor. Not being able to get the cork out of a bottle is unusual, but the moment it became clear this problem was going to take a while to solve, they should have held the starters (and definitely the mains) until it was resolved. A complimentary drink while we waited would have been a nice touch. I ultimately would have expected the wine to be free after all the effort. Very disappointed. Some of the reviews seem to suggest these guys are the next big thing in town. Theyve got a long way to go before theyre anywhere near that. The food was immaculately presented, but the venison main was honestly quite bland. Could have used seasoning (no salt on the table).

Beautiful venue, stunningly restored. Food was delicious too, especially the fiendishly indulgent dessert. Staff really friendly, smiley and attentive. Can not wait until the other floors are open, we will be back to sample the cafe menu when available (love Pinneys smoked food). Great restaurant for celebrations, can imagine it will be very popular around graduation time! Restaurant has nice views over cambridge market square, the downside to this is that you have to go up a couple of flight of stairs, not a problem for me, but less able bodied people may struggle a little. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

I went for dinner and was blown away by how incredible this restaurant is. The design is beautifully done and the food is incredible. Went for dinner last night. Was totally blown away by the food. I tried a few starters and my friend had a main. Everything was amazing. I cant wait to go back and try some of the other menu items. The prices were also really good, especially given the quality of the food and the venue. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

If you live in Cambridge, or if youre just visiting, book yourself a table and enjoy an outstanding couple of hours. Highly recommended!!! Vegetarian options: Im not a vegetarian or vegan, but I had the mushroom dish and I wasnt disappointed!

Sad to have to post this review - but heavily disappointed on visit this week. There is so much potential for this restaurant to be something great beautiful surroundings, smiling staff, some fantastic dishes (pork belly & scallops). Biggest let down - lamb main. Struggled to eat this - powerful confused blue cheese flavour overwhelmed the dish totally. Lamb (!) lacked flavour. Accompanying vegetable didn t work at all. I ve never had a dish gone this wrong. Staters eye wateringly overpriced Ham hock panna cotta looked beautiful but serving amounts of this vs the accompaniments (e.g 3 slivers of cauliflower) were completely off which made it quite unpleasant..despite being well balanced. The chefs are clearly talented (based on the incredible pork belly) but no one could have tasted the lamb and thought that dish worked. Scallops excellent but very small for the price (to be expected I suppose with how things are) The lady serving us was kind and smiley, but had not been trained properly. Our wine or water was never topped up despite being the only diners! It was also a birthday booking - yet absolutely no mention of this. Poor attention to detail. If I was to spend £120 for two (two starters, two mains, 1 bottle of wine) I could take my money to some obscenely good restaurants but wouldn t come here again sadly. Hope it improves

The food is excellent, created by a chef who clearly loves playing with interesting and delightful flavour combinations. Also a joy to see the bar team care so much about the drinks they serve. The best meal we ve had in Cambridge.

This place is literally a wolf in sheeps clothing when you look at it from the outside. Right next to the market it looks like a little coffee shop along the lines of Starbucks but go underground or to the first floor restaurant to be vowed Service is excellent but the food we tried was Michelin star quality and they call it their Casual menu. If that is casual we cant wait to try the Formal one .

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Market House this evening. The building has been refurbished and decorated to a very high standard to create a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, and food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. This was complemented by the extensive wine list. We thoroughly recommend and will definitely be returning.

This is now our go to restaurant in Cambridge for a good menu choice, good service , decent wine list .

Terrible vile coffee for £3. I threw out

We love this place have come here twice for a date and the food is insanely tasty and the staff are really friendly. NB the opening time is not really 20:30 - last food order is 20:30; last order at the wine bar is 22:00!! Try it out you will not regret it!

Just had dinner at the new market house in Cambridge and I must say we are quite disappointed.. my hake dish had no taste at all - the crispy noodles were missing -then were brought on a plate by the side - sad looking really - potatoes were actually re-boiled- inedible .. my partner s dish wasn t much better - very minimalist ..too much potato for the fish!! Quite sure we won t go back ! Wine selection is ok, but food lacks taste and flavour!

My friends and I attended MHs Pol Roger Dinner, which was wonderful. The warm welcome, the glorious food, the delicious Pol Roger Champagnes and red wines chosen carefully to pair with each course. The portions were generous; the venison was perfectly cooked; the speeches were entertaining. We had a delightful evening. Thank you to Bill and team.

I had a great experience! The place is clean, the staff is very welcoming and the food is been outstanding. I had a wine tasting evening and a Pol Roger tasting dinner, which I cant fault. I reassure you, that you going to be treated well and the food is totally as described. Thank you!

Attended the Pol Roger wine tasting dinner with my family. The food was exceptional and so were the paired wines. It was lovely to hear stories by James Simpson MW Pol Roger during the meal. A wonderful evening. Highly recommend.
