The best afternoon tea I’ve ever had. Even very well designed and presented.
My boyfriend and I had the best time dining at the Tamburlaine while staying in the co-located hotel (the Clayton Hotel). Our waiter, Antoine, was super attentive and gave us the best recommendations. I had asked for the local beer and he definitely didn't lie when he said it was a good local beer. The restaurant was very accommodating to my peanut allergy letting me know what every dish contained without having to place a booklet in front of me to flip through before ordering. Everything tasted amazing. I’d highly recommend the everything, especially the sirloin steak, the grilled sea bream, and the brownie sundae. Despite being the only staff member attending the tables that was not managing the bar at the same time, Antoine was extremely attentive and quick at serving the other guests. Thank you Antoine!!! The next day, we came back for tea and the service was consistently good but without our waiter from the night before. The Cookie of the Day was freshly baked and delicious. Definitely a must-visit if you’re ever in Cambridge and near the train station.
Great restaurant, very friendly. No fuss menu, great burger. Buffet breakfast plentiful and friendly team.
Delicious afternoon tea. Scones were warm and scrumptious. The service was excellent - Mariana was a great host.
Was pleasantly surprised with the food after reading the reviews, only saw them after booking. Cocktails to start were good, tasty and strong. Whilst the food wasn't high end and for the price just over £100, for 2 including with and a couple of Cocktails you can't expect it to be it was really decent , my smoked salmon was nice and my pork was melt in the mouth , although no crispy crackling. Portion size if anything was to large neither of us could finish our meals. Overall really decent food for a good price
Came down for a cocktail and pudding as we were staying with the hotel (you get a 20% discount). Very impressed with the staff, food and drinks. Amused by Aussie Rules Football on the TV! No sound thankfully :)
Popped in on a Tuesday afternoon. Sat at the bar. One lady working behind the bar. One other couple in the whole place. After 5 mins - could we have a drinks menu please? Yes Could we order some drinks and do your gins come with tonic? I don’t know I’ll have to get someone We had to ask twice to get ‘someone’ who made 2 excellent drinks. Asked if we could have some nuts and were told no problem. No nuts arrived, but 4 members of staff made themselves a coffee and chatted. I had to go to reception to ask for the nuts which of course they didn’t have and we were given crisps. The drinks were lovely. However the staff were disinterested and given the price of drinks the ‘service’ was non-existent. 2 stars for quality of drinks 0 for disinterested staff and zero service I couldn’t recommend going here, the place was empty and we felt an inconvenience to a coffee afternoon for staff.
We waited for hours! We had a dinner reservation at 8:30 and didn’t get the starter until 9:50 by this time two other couples had got up and left having been there even before us, when the starters came my partners order was wrong and mine was very over done (burnt) I ordered the tiger prawns in honey glaze, when our mains came they were not hot and the burger my partner had was heavily over salted so much he didn’t eat it, I ordered the salmon which was such a disappointment when it was not hot, the flavours were there and had the potential to be a beautiful meal but it was clearly rushed and done at a poor standard. We got the bill before the plates were even cleared which reached over £100 we got an apology but unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed with a restaurant we had high hopes for.
Very slow service, no flair
Went for breakfast nice selection
We didnt eat, but the drinks and cocktails were great. Very friendly and helpful service. Relaxed atmosphere.
Went here for the LoveCambridge deal and loved it. (: Amazing service and coffee. Definitely recommend the berry cheesecake!
Very classy hotel, right in the center, 50 meters from the train station, quiet, very cozy English style restaurant, great dinner and breakfast, very professional, attentive and pleasant staff. Fabulous and large room, very comfortable, enveloping bed, large terrace with great views.
I was only here for a meeting. Looks a nice venue. Handy for the train and getting into town. We had a hot limited buffet style lunch. Food was nice enough.
Very enjoyable food and great service.
Went for Sunday dinner back in June 2023, the place was dead - staff were slow and had as much life them in as a flat bottle of Coke. Food was average , certainly not what I expected , I wouldnt spend my time or money there again.
Dishes are fine.
Disappointing from start to finish. Slow bar staff, slow service at dinner. Overpriced and average.
Waiting for an anniversary lunch tomorrow. I am not sure how good is the food. But I am sure I will have a great meal with my Zorpig. Super super super love you!
waiter took ages to even take our orders asked for grilled fish only to get steamed fish asked for a medium rare stake only for it to be well done chips inedible complimentary apology stick toffee pudding took 35 minutes to come bad service, even worse food, trying so hard to be a high end restaurant when its not dont go
Great service.
Slightly over the top; bling is not the same as style. Good service and decent food.
Food looks good but doesn t taste much. Poor service
