What a wonderful find. Food was fantastic, the pork was unbelievably tender. Definitely one to put on the favourites list

The food is utterly amazing. We are regular customers even though we don t live in Cambridge. Parking is free which is amazing. Everyone is very friendly. And back to the food . It just get better and better. This is our favourite restaurant.

My husband found this place & we travelled in from Milton Keynes and it did not disappoint. The venue is nicely decorated, has a trendy vibe to it but the food is amazing. Fabulous meal with beautifully prepared, authentic Yunnan dishes. We lived in Beijing 15 years ago and the Yunnan restaurants there were always our favourites - so amazing to be able to taste these dishes again. The kids (9&10 yr old) loved the wonton soup noodles and braised pork soup noodles. Extremely good service - our waitress was excellent. Really surprised (and delighted!) to receive a free bottle of Prosecco as it was my husband s birthday.

We had an amazing meal here- a big family group celebrating a 9 year old s birthday. The food and service were great. Our waitress was super efficient, friendly and very patient with us!! Fabulous place. Would highly recommend! Kid-friendliness: Very child friendly! Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible- one of our party was in a wheelchair and easy to get around.

Female staff with tattoo & piercing on the face should try to behave nicely with delivery drivers too.

Me and my boyfriend came last weekend and had a lovely time. Our server Josie was so welcoming and polite which made us feel so at ease as well as had amazing service with a smile on her face. Will definitely return to here in the near future.

We had a great experience at Dumpling Tree. From the moment we walked in the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was incredible and came out at a reasonable pace. We will be coming back for more!

The Char Siu (BBQ Pork) with Rice was delicious, so did the King Prawns Fried Noodles, which could have been even better if it was less salty and oily. Overall, a 100% satisfaction. Loud music and children running around the restaurant set the tone for the evening. It was almost like being at a kids party. We couldn t hear each other speak until after the volume of the music was lowered - but one of the waiters told me he would have to text HQ to get it lowered!! The food - fiery chicken was not spicy, aromatic crispy duck was about 70% fat and was soft. Other food ordered by my family was equally poor, however some meals were still very good. Unfortunately the dumplings were not as nice as they used to be. The Dumpling Tree is dropping leaves. Then there was our waitress. Maybe there was a language problem or perhaps she didn t understand the products sold at the restaurant. Ordering apple juice and lemonade resulted in a challenge that resulted in wrong drinks being brought to the table. Our starters arrived after our main courses. Everything was poor. Such a shame because our previous visits were very rewarding.

Now ,,spoon of tar in a barrel of honey,, My favourite dish, ,, Dirty dozen dumplings,, slightly worsened last year (doug become thicker) its still good but before was better. One star off is for the included service charge. I always tip but I prefer to do it on my good will but not when Im forced to do so.

First time here. Food was nice but everything was so dry they don t do sauce. Need to sell some side sauces. The beef was soft but so dry. Love coming here for some proper good grub! We went on the launch of their new dim sum menu and sampled the super tasty xiao long bao and warrior bun! Also tried the Dan Dan noodles for the first time and they reminded me of my time living in Hong Kong! Friends loved it, cant wait to go back again!

The Dumpling Tree is a multi-regional food style Chinese restaurant. They serve delicious dumplings and other dim sum treats, as well as a wide selection of Chinese noodle and rice dishes. Their QR Code menu also has such hidden gems as Dan Dan Noodles, a fiery but delicious dish you must try, if you dare. Their speciality is Yunnan cuisine, which is a totally different Chinese style of cooking from what Im familiar with. These include some brilliant pork belly dishes and one dish I intend to try next - fried Yunnan cheese, which sounds delicious. Also, be sure to try their blooming teas, such as rose, chrysanthemum, and jasmine. I highly recommend it and would definitely go there again! Vegetarian options: Wide variety of vegetarian options. Parking: You must validate your parking inside the restaurant before seating to assure you wont get a ticket. Wheelchair accessibility: One of our party has mobility issues, so uses a wheeled assistance vehicle. We did not have issues getting into the restaurant, no problems getting to our seats, nor exiting the premises.

I ordered salt and pepper squid and it was delicious. Huge pieces of squid in a salty spicy breading were just what I wanted. For my main course I had the Bbq pork chow mien which filled me right up. The service was friendly and the dining area was clean. Next time I come here I ll bring friends and enjoy some beers outside in the garden. Parking: You will have to register/validate parking.

The food was very good, but the drinks even better. The mock tails were amazing and interesting and as were the cocktails. The atmosphere and ambience was incredible and it led to an incredibly enjoyable and authentic dining experience. Though costly, this restaurant truly deserves a 5* rating for its interesting food choices arriving hot in steam baskets. Very impressive.

duck rice is well presented but duck is dry and fatty. seems like duck has been reheated multiple times. Totally disappointed. the only good thing is the egg. Dumpling is good when fried but stodgy when steamed. Service can be improved. Overall is ok but don t order duck. seems like they don t make their own roast duck and there is MSG in all dishes.

Arrived at 8.30pm on Thursday and was told by one of the two waitresses that they only do takeaway but not sit in. Please kindly mention it somewhere.

Food average and over priced. Best dish was the dumplings. 3 staff we came across were not friendly at all, didn t even check if the food was alright and not came once to ask if we wanted more drinks, etc.. Very poor service but put 12.5% service charge on automatically. Won t be coming back

One of my favourite restaurants in Cambridge, love the food there. But I have to say they service is a hit-and-miss. Especially I didn t feel welcomed and respected by some of the non-Chinese staff or bartenders. For example, I went there and ordered take-away today. During ordering I didn t catch what the bartender said, I asked kindly sorry I didn t get that, could you repeat please? He did not want to explain but just shake his head. I felt ignored and disrespected as I m not native speaker. Also it turned out my order came very late, after the people who ordered before us, after I checked with them about where was my order. Again, I like the food there very much. I just hope the service could be improved. It is kinda ironic to feel ignored and disrespected by the non Chinese staff in a Chinese style restaurant.

Overall very happy with my experience. Service could be a little more attentive. I ve no idea if there is a desert menu but we certainly weren t offered one and we weren t checked on during our meal to see if we were happy or needed more drinks. Food was great, atmosphere really nice. Parking: Make sure you input your number plate into there computer system at the main entrance to basic a parking fine.

This is hard to describe - the food is good, the location is ok, but the atmosphere in the bar is great and super unique. In the bar, you could be in london, but the rest is ok. Probably won t go back because yim wah and Spring restaurant are amazing for chinese food, but we re glad we went.

Quality of food has improved significantly and it seems to be doing extremely well. The place has original Yunan province and its authentic nature is preserved.

The tofu rice noodle bean flower rice line is topped with Gochujang (Korean chili sauce), which is unacceptable.

We initially posted in a local Facebook group (Cambridge Foodies) looking for ideas of where we could go out for a dinner date on a budget, and The Dumpling Tree reached out and invited us to come and have dinner there, so we made a reservation. Im SO glad we did! We had a phenomenal time - on arrival they were incredibly friendly and welcoming (and remained friendly and helpful throughout the evening), then we got seated in a nice booth near the front of the building - and despite it also being a bar, it wasnt loud or rowdy - there was a nice atmosphere, and we could also have a conversation over dinner. The cocktail I ordered was really good, and the food itself was just fantastic - the sticky ribs had a good amount of meat on them (not always my experience when ordering chinese) and were super tender, the bao and dumplings were delicious, and the duck pancakes I ordered were amazing. The duck itself was some of the best duck Ive ever tasted. Couldnt be happier - perfect date night, perfect dinner. Well definitely be back! Parking: Was easy to park, and parking is onsite - but you must remember to validate your parking when you go inside

We had a fantastic afternoon doing a family dumpling making course. Our course leader was very friendly and showed us some different ways to make up the dumplings. She was especially helpful in suggesting easier methods for the children to try. Everyone made 12 dumplings that the staff cooked and then we had a delicious feast. The vegetarians and vegans made vegetable dumplings and the meat-eaters made pork and Chinese chives dumplings. Lots of fun- I d highly recommend it!

From we moment we entered the restaurant the staff were very warm and welcoming. Our server was very knowledgable. The food was so delicious and fresh. We were dining as a family of four, and there was a-lot of choice to keep us all happy. They kindly gave my daughter a complimentary ice cream sundae, which was a real treat. Food really was amazing, it was just such a shame that they were playing terrible loud music after asking a few times and finally asking could they change it,they did to lovely music. Why do we need loud music in a restaurant?

I ve been here a few times in the last year and it s clear they ve stepped up their game. New interiors look amazing, new menu was even better. Staff were so friendly and was a reasonable price especially with the happy hour (cocktails were the best I ve tasted in a while!) , will defo be back soon. Good Chinese restaurant. Excellent dumplings, rest of the menu is good with some classics as well as well thought out local dishes. Limited drinks list and the ambience can be sterile, but the food is wholesome and plenty. Great for takeaways too.

Two weeks ago on a Friday night, we went for dinner without reservations. Despite several available tables, they informed us that hosting without a reservation wasnt possible. Even if they could provide a table, the kitchen couldnt handle the order, resulting in a wait of over an hour. We finally made it this Wednesday; the food delivery time was normal, and Yunnan cuisine proved to be exceptional and unique in the UK. It might be too spicy for those not accustomed to regular spicy dishes. I highly recommend trying the Cross-the-Bridge rice noodles. However, there was an issue with the tea service as they charged per person, not per pot. With five of us, we only received two pots of Puer tea.

Really nice food and amazing drinks! I highly recommend for anyone who wants to eat Asian food They have happy hour that starts on 19:30 Unfortunately, when i ordered 19:29, even when they put the order 19:33 they still charge you the full price (even when the receipt says 19:33...).

On a mid-December Saturday in 2023, our group of family friends, including children, visited the restaurant. The overall quality of the food was relatively good, and the majority of us enjoyed our meals. However, the experience was marred by certain aspects. While the food received positive feedback, there was a notable issue with the service teams constant advice to keep the children seated. This created a stressful atmosphere for our group and hindered the overall family-friendly vibe we were expecting. The lack of a relaxing ambiance was disappointing and affected our overall enjoyment of the dining experience. Furthermore, we utilized the restaurants car parking and were required to register our car upon entry. Unfortunately, due to the size of our group, we overlooked this step. Subsequently, we received a parking ticket at our home with a £100 penalty. In our attempt to resolve the matter, we contacted the restaurant, providing evidence of our substantial bill (almost £300) and specifying the date and time of our visit. Regrettably, their response indicated that there were signs indicating the registration process, and we should have adhered to them. This unfortunate incident with the parking ticket added an additional layer of dissatisfaction to our overall experience. We believe that improved communication about parking procedures and a more family-friendly approach from the service team would significantly enhance the appeal of the restaurant.

Great service for a group of 10. Food was pre-ordered and prepared as soon as we arrived and staff would know who had ordered what and would just ask for the name when serving each dish at the table. Dietary restrictions: Make sure you mention your dietary restrictions before ordering as some dishes have a mixture of ingredients (like mixed dumplings where some have meat, others prawns, others vegetables)

Great food and really friendly and helpful staff Parking: The parking is free, but you have to enter your car reg on the tablet as you walk in or you will get a fine. Wheelchair accessibility: The open layout makes it wheelchair friendly and they have a disabled toilet.

Excellent food as always! Doing Veganuary there are plenty of options, and my meat-eating son loved the Pork & Chinese Chive dumplings. The service was lovely and attentive. We just love Dumpling Tree!

This is an unusual place, being a blend of a pub and a restaurant featuring dishes from Yunnan in the southwest of China. As the name suggests, dumplings feature prominently on the menu as do rice noodles. We shared a Dumpling Tree platter and then each had a wonton noodle soup, all of which tasted great. They do have some more familiar Chinese restaurant dishes served with rice, and there are several vegetarian options. The serving staff were friendly and helpful. Well be back. Vegetarian options: Looking at the menu (available online) there are at least a dozen veggie dishes. Dietary restrictions: The menu says to ask. I would guess that much of the menu is gluten-free, and probably nut-free - but do ask the staff. Parking: There is parking in front of and to the side of the restaurant building. We had no trouble finding a place at 7:30 on a Saturday evening.
