We had our bike club Christmas party here and they laid out a fantastic table for the 30 of us in an upstairs room all by ourselves. The food was outstanding and all served hot and very well dressed. The service by Emily was 2nd to none, she did an absolutely fantastic job serving the 30 of us with a smile on her face and spring in her step. Amazing job to all the kitchen staff for getting 30 dishes out at the same time all piping hot! I would highly recommend this restaurant. I don't think there was a sour face amongst us and we all had a good time here and I'm sure we will be back again.
Really delicious food, service could have been better. Lots of waiters and waitresses around but not paying attention to the table. Good atmosphere in there. Recommended to few people already. Will be visiting again soon.
This is one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve been. The dishes here really tickle many different taste buds!! Delicious dishes beautifully presented in a great ambiance.. Strongly suggest sharers…
First time dining here. Although the atmosphere is quite loud. The decor is fabulous to look at. Gives a Bridgiton vibe. The staff are very helpful. The food is lovely and full of flavour. You are charged a service fee onto your bill which was a new one for us. Nothing major like £6 if I recall. Very easy to book online and easy enough to ammend your booking if needed to.
Wonderful place to dine in in Cambridge. Very close to city centre. It's an unbelievable interior, I wouldn't think of to be that beautiful. It's a Thai restaurant. Foods are so tasty and fast service. Authentic Thai taste. They have a kids' menu, and a waitress who served us was kind enough to bring some paints and colours to my kid to keep her occupied. Overall, I had a great experience. Would cost a person 20 to 30
I recently tried Thai food for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has a beautiful, serene ambiance with lovely color combinations and lighting. The lady who served us was incredibly polite and humble, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The only downside was the service charge added to the bill. Despite that, I would definitely visit again if I find myself in town.
The nicest part of this restaurant are its grand decor and the kind staff. The food however, was slightly bland and underwhelming. If you’re looking for authentic thai food, this isn’t the place. But if you’re looking to celebrate or have a nice dinner out, this is very much the place to go. The decor is veryyyy pretty and mesmerising! The staff were also very accommodating and kind :) Recommended for celebrations, such as birthdays or graduations!
I finally had the chance to experience the Giggling Squid today for my birthday, after seeing pictures of this beautifully decorated restaurant and reading lots of lovely positive reviews. Okay so I want to say that I’m only leaving this review because I think this restaurant is worthy of keeping lovely, and so I’m hoping that the owners will tidy up the areas where it’s starting to look tacky, Front Entrance.. This is in desperate need of repainting correctly, as there were areas that had been touched up here and there that were different in colours to other areas, and there was junk and mess all around the desk, couple of cartons of Tropicana, and it looked grubby around the doors and walls. Basically it just looked rather run down!, which is such a shame because it’s an absolutely stunning building, which was clearly decorated to a very high standard. The grubby smell which occurs in some busy restaurants hit me as I walked in. I think you need better cleaners, and not just someone who cleans for the money but someone who actually loves to clean, and who takes pride in the cleanliness and appearance of your restaurant. Toilets… Loved the toilets as they are very vintage looking yet still kind of lovely, although again I will say needs cleaning better. Uniform.. The shirts and aprons the staff wore are all lovely in colour and design, but how scruffy it looked with all the different style casual jeans and running trainers. I found the bottom half of the attire completely bizarre, specially to wear in such a beautiful restaurant. The food.. We booked our table for 12 noon, so only about three other tables had customers at. So it wasn’t busy when I placed my order. I had the vegetable tapas selection, which was all delicious apart from the button mushroom in the mix vegetable, (I love mushrooms by the way), but they tasted a tad old. My prawns in ginger, half the dish was hot and half cold, it was like it had been pulled out the fridge already prepared and thrown in the wok, but then not cooked for long enough. The sticky chicken and vegetable spring rolls are absolutely delicious, both those two dishes are a 10/10 from me and my daughter. Actually the green Thai curry was a 10/10 too. Garlic noodles were not very pleasant in my opinion. The Staff… The ladies and gentlemen were all very professional and polite who served us, 10/10 from me Table… I found the red napkins and place mats looked odd with the beautiful colour scheme, but that’s just my opinion. It just seemed like something so beautiful was starting to slowly become run down!, that was my initial first impression of the front entrance, and it made me feel sad. I don’t want to criticise or upset anyone, but you must raise the standards higher so that you will remain open in many years to come. I wish all the Giggling Squid restaurants a prosperous future. Although it maybe a good idea to maintain the restaurants you have to a high standard before opening anymore.
Great location, building, and decor. Sadly thats where the positives end. The service was slow, it took ages to get a drink on arrival, and then to eventually order food. My meal was incredibly salty, 24 hours later I can still taste the salt in my mouth. It wasnt great, and it certainly wasnt in keeping with the premium price and feel of the place. Disappointing. Theres a wonderful sushi restaurant next door though if youre looking for somewhere nice to eat instead. Update: At their request I emailed the manager and have been ignored for more than a week. Says it all really.
We came in tonight and were served by Carla. Her service was really good and she recommended us a starter which was really nice. She was very attentive. Thank you Carla. Definitely recommend.
Polite staff service good especially the lady that made me a special coffee after dinner which was not on the menu starters were OK but the main left loads to be desired hardly any taste and found the noodles very greasy unfortunately would not be returning due to the food quality was definitely not not to our taste have eaten Thai food loads of times which I love and this was very tasteless
Extremely disappointed with this restaurant. The table staff were non attentive. I had ti chase around looking for someone to take our order. The starters were like warm, the main dish flavourless and the toilets are disgusting. Complained to the owner Julian who promised a call back. But you guessed I never got a call. Don t spoil your evening with a trip to this establishment. Just awful.
Attended yesterday for my 30th birthday. Had the festive menu. Pre-ordered our food but wish wed chosen on the night from the main menu; we hardly saw the waitress. Our drinks order wasnt taken for a long time and had to ask to order after the prawn crackers came. The food was incredibly spicy - the chilli overwhelmed the flavour of the starters and mains. The puddings were delicious. House rose was also lovely. I had some ice-cream brought over for my birthday - that was a nice touch. Overall, I was a little disappointed. Was hoping it would feel a bit more special than it did - especially for £60+ a head. Positive to end - decor was beautiful and a good central location.
What a disappointment. We sat 20 minutes before being able to order drinks. There was a sense of rush and exhaustion from the staff. No smiles or menu suggestions. No care about the customer. My jasmine rice was dry, clogged and cold. My husbands meal had huge pieces of red chilli and over hot. And then the toilets ! I have been to cleaner ladies toilets on a bus station. These were disgusting!! 2 of 4 locked. 2 without paper and the floor and bin overflowing with paper and sanitary items. I felt very unpleasant then had to go past the dirty walls and decor back to our table. We wont be going back !
Been here three or four times. Couple of weeks ago I visited with friends. I thought it was a lots more expensive than before and they didn t give us enough time as they asked for the table back. Also, all the dishes were tiny for the money. Don t expect to get full . Grab a burger after dinner unless you want to keep spending .
Good atmosphere and food Dietary restrictions: Egg intolerance Kid-friendliness: Helpful for kids
Cold food, small portions, very slow service, forgot our drinks. Avoid.
The decor of the restaurant is very well curated and the staff is always kind, helpful and friendly! It is very easy to book as well. The allergen and ingredient information is very detailed and accessible, more than any other restaurant I have ever been at. Good vegan food selection, but I would love to see more options. Definitely recommended!
It was a great experience eating here!
Has lunch for my Birthday and the food & service were both amazing thank you would highly recommend, best dining out experience Iv had for a long while , well done !! Vegetarian options: There was plenty for me to chose from as a vegetarian and the flavours were amazing
Amazing restaurant with very delicious dishes, charming interior at good prices. I especially like the showstopper set: the slow-cooked beef with green curry and the prawns are both very good.
Ridiculously long waiting times. In 50 min I could cook pad Thai myself with ease...
Wow a must if your in the area
Terrible service. We had a party of 6 celebrating a teen birthday. Had to ask 3 times for water - and yes we also bought drinks. Our waitress came to our table once to take our orders and then disappeared. Gave up waiting for the birthday celebration treat and had to get up to leave before we could get anyone s attention in order to pay. Toilets were disgusting- paper overflowing and extremely sticky floors. Very disappointed that a special night turned out to be so very bad.
A long wait to get a table (with reservation) plus a long wait just to pay the bills. The food is ok, a bit salty, and is not very authentic. The vibe is great, tho a bit loud. Food : 3/5
Great food, a little on the expensive side, but great food
Nice meal and very nice place I was there with my husband who tried Thai food for the first time and loved it will be definitely coming back.
Nice place . But the food was under .... what I expected
Had a really lovely birthday dinner here last night. The staff were super attentive, friendly, and made us feel special from the moment we arrived. Plus, the food was absolutely delicious and we didnt have to wait long at all for any of the courses. A great night!
Great food, beautiful building, will be back
Had the most amazing dinner with my husband and daughter. Cassie made us feel very special. Service was brilliant but most importantly the food was out of this world.
The food was amazing.
Probably the best Thai food I ve ever had. Lovely restaurant with friendly staff.
We were there to celebrate one of us birthday so I asked to put candles on the dessert cake I was planning to buy after a meal. The waiters changed all the time so we ended up with 3 of them at our table at some point. Nevertheless, this would be OK and if the candles were too much to ask would also be OK but itd be good to know in advance and not to be disappointed later. The candles were forgotten and I had to ask for them back in front of the birthday person. Ahhhh.....ruined the experience completely.
First of all the staff members (e.g. Angie and Yeepun) are fantastic! So warm and friendly! The atmosphere is very beautiful! It s like being in a fairyland or bird cage. You will have to enter to see what I mean! The food was alright. I say this as someone who loves Thai food and is constantly eating it every chance I get. It s really hard to get the flavors to wow me unless the chef is doing something spectacular. With that said if you like Thai food you would automatically like it!
I m pretty good for a chain . Tasty food
Cant wait to return, food was amazing and the restaurant was absolutely beautiful
2nd Giggling squid and the Cambridge location is just as great. We went in on a slower day so that helped with the wait time. Food tasted great love that their menu has vegetarian options.
Tasty meal. Pleasant surroundings and friendly service.
Lovely Giggling Squid restaurant, better than the Brighton one. Beautiful inside, good food, good service, a lovely meal. Would highly recommend.
I went here last night for the first time with my husband. We dont usually go much from our comfort zone and your standard restaurants.. but I am very glad we did. The food was cooked to perfection, with bursts of flavour. I had heard it can have a delay on food but was worth it, but we dont feel we waited long at all, we went at 5pm so maybe later on it may become busier and have more delays. However, that still wouldnt have phased us because we had all evening. The staff are all friendly and attentive and the decor is very different and authentic we loved it.. we really liked it and couldnt fault any part of it.
The giggling squid is a definite place to visit, everything is just amazing staff are wonderful food is amazing and the atmosphere is nice definitely worth a visit I would recommend you book as they do get busy
Very nice seating area and yummy food~
The food is super tasty.
Best Thai food we ve ever had. Beautiful venue. The cocktails are also excellent.
Nice meal, large place and plenty of seating and quick service.
First time at Giggling Squid & thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely food with nice menu and good choice. Had the lunch tapas menu which was a good way to sample a range of dishes.
Menjar molt bo i ambient pintoresc. Recomane el pad thai amb gambes i els spring rolls. Mereix una visita! Vegetarian options: I ordered pad thai with tofu and spring rolls.
We went there on a Sunday with no reservation and got a nice table by the window! We ordered the massaman curry and lots of prawn dishes and starters. Was greatful there were halal options and enjoyed it very much. Asthetically nice for al social media type people and nice date place
Wonderful Thai food in a great and flowery atmosphere ! Everything we tried was exquisite. The Pad Thai and the spring rolls are my favorites
Really good but a little pricey. Good for a special meal.
Great experience. Sat in the birdcage, good was great. Service could be a little more attentive.
The interior design is amazing, creating a great atmosphere for dining. The food is delicious, and there were enough vegetarian options for us to choose from. There was nothing to dislike. I highly recommend.
Awesome service, great food in a great atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend
Had my birthday here last night and loved it! Emily our server was excellent and the food was delicious. Thanks so much for the birthday icecream and plate! Such a thoughtful touch
Overpriced and small portions, long time waiting to order and the staff wasnt busy at all, the place wasnt busy either but they were chatting without paying attention to us. We wont be back
Excellent Thai cuisine with some reinterpretations by the chef to try such as the pad thai in the photo. Very comfortable and welcoming environment. If you love or want to taste Thai dishes this place is super recommended!
The environment is OK, but the taste is terrible. It is the worst Thai food that Asians have ever eaten. It is very unauthentic. It is all thick soup and can only fool European and American people.
This is a place where you pay for the setup and service, not the food. The curry dishes are not good at all for any Thai standard, and they charge Rice separately! More ridiculous, the jasmine rice is not jasmine rice at all!
Lovely food and decor but the handling of allergens was terrible We told them 1 of our party had a shellfish allergy and they put the allergy ticket on the table. We ordered starters and they checked who was allergic to what and all okay. But when they brought the starters we were going to share, they just put down plates with stickers on. The stickers are bright pink and just say Giggling Squid Crustacean Molluscs So we assumed the stickers meant they contained the allergens written on the stickers. We were a little surprised but the person with the shellfish allergy ate from the dishes which didnt have the Crustaceans Molluscs sticker on it. When the mains came out, the waiter gave the person with the shellfish allergy their dinner and said this is for the shellfish allergic person, and this dish had the same sticker. The sticker which just says an allergen, actually means that dish is free from it! It is so stupid and the opposite of what sensible people would assume. It meant that the person who has the shellfish allergy ate starters with Crustaceans and / Molluscs in thinking they were safe! So stupid. Thankfully it is a mild allergy and he only ate a little. We told the waiter and she did not care that we could have had a serious medical emergency. The sticker system is stupid. Why do the stickers just say the allergen???? It would be so simple to say free from XYZ instead of what is says which is XYZ if you go here with an allergy, ask very carefully what you can and cant eat. Dietary restrictions: Stupid system to label allergy free items with the allergy
Beautiful place and spectacular red curry, full of flavour and intense. I insist on the curry and the battered baby squid which are a delight with their spicy sauce.
Excellent food and such a beautiful building and interior design! Everything we had was delicious!
Another great meal at Giggling Squid. Beautiful restaurant and always great food and service.
This is quite possibly the worst ever Thai food we ve ever had, not only that but the property itself on the way down to the toilets is absolutely disgustingly filthy the kitchen is also filthy. We waited about 40 minutes for the drinks to arrive and although the waitress was very friendly, it wasn t sufficient to make us ever want to return to the giggling squid ever again!
Booked ahead and enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal with friends. Treated myself to the special Margarita cocktail and for starters, enjoyed the mushroom option. For mains I choose the king prawn Pad Thai, with a side of coconut rice. All food was great and really enjoyed the whole meal, with the friends I was with also saying positive things about their respective meals.
First the pros: - tasty food - beautiful building - helpful staff Now the cons: - probably due to the vaulted ceiling but the place is very loud - the food took very long to served, despite the restaurant being only about 50% full Finally, the worst: - a service charged was added to the bill, but when the waitress came to take payment by card she asked if I wanted to leave a gratuity. I told her that a service charge was already added to my bill, but she said it was different. So, I would really like to hear from the management and find out what is the difference between the service charge and the gratuity? As well as who keeps each charge? Are people being charged twice for tips?
Excellent food, service, quality of food. Reasonably good value too. Food
Photos speak for themselves, food is okay for price. Worth going for the atmosphere alone. Food
Magic, chain Thai food, catered for Allergies great
Proper Thai food in perfect location. As spicy as it should be and as tasty as it should be. Lovely staff
Amazing decor of an old library with beautiful architecture. Squid starters were so tasty. Mains were delicious too, especially pad Thai. Mini chocolate dessert was also lovely. Great service. Will definitely be back!
Amazing food, great atmosphere!
Nice deco. Starters was delicious . Main courses was a let down However there isn t much Thai restaurants to compete in Cambridge. This restaurant is not too bad, just adjust your expectations.
The good is so good specially the sticky chicken. They have vegetarian options is needed.
Nicely decorated inside. Food was ok, it was a little bland.
Went for my sisters 30th birthday. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was good.
The staff were friendly and accommodating - rushing our order through as we were going to the theatre opposite . Food was delicious . Kid-friendliness: Children on a near by table seemed very content
Great food, good atmosphere but sadly terrible service.
Menu is not clear about vegan or vegetarian options. Its vegetarian dish and in ingredients its not mentioned about egg still they added it may contain egg. It contains egg or not? no one knows and no clear answer from staff. Staff were not much friendly on asking anything. We ordered green curry and sticky rice. Rice served in small basket and in plastic bag. Havent expected from such restaurant. Positive: - Great interior - Many Vegetarian dishes (but they not sure about it has egg or not) Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian options may or may not contain egg. They dont have clear answers. In ingredients no egg mentioned but they keep telling it may contain egg.
Good food & great service apart from just one member of staff forgetting her smile
Giggling squid one of my favourite places to go in Cambridge for a luxurious meal with a beautiful view. The restaurant is always super busy with love waiters and waitresses who always attend to your needs. My favourite is the chilli squid , tempura butterfly king prawn pad Thai and the strawberry cooler ! Such a refreshing drink! If you are in Cambridge you defo need to try this place !
Great potential. It sll depends on where one sits. I had mix experiences on two separate occasions. Service slower than usual even for cocktails. Price on the high side for Thai food when compared to other good Thai restaurants in Cambridge.
I had the pleasure of visiting Giggling Squid in Cambridge for the first time. We didnt have a reservation, but the staff at the door were incredibly friendly, and genuinely excited to find us a table. The atmosphere of the restaurant is incredibly warm and inviting, and the food is simply mouthwatering. Personally, I couldnt get enough of the Salt & Pepper Chilli Mushrooms and the Chilli & Basil Gra Pa. Chilli and Basil Gra Pa is an absolute delight for the taste buds. And dont forget to pair it with some rice for the perfect combination. All in all, I can confidently say that my experience was a solid 10/10.
Best Thai restaurant Ive ever been too. Lovely service, excellent drinks menu too. Highly recommended
Beautiful location . Lovely staff . Lovely looking food . But taste , sorry to say bland .
Lovely interior and services.
***Latest Update*** Another visit to Giggling Squid. The food was again at the same standards as always. This time we were sat in the cage benches and I have to say, it was the most uncomfortable thing ever! The semicircle design makes it impossible to enjoy your meal as you constantly slide to your side. And if I had to be picky, a couple of plates were chipped, not what you would expect from a restaurant of this calibre. Still the same quality of food. Everything was cooked nicely and it was very enjoyable. Special mention to our waiter Jack who was very polite and friendly. Having tried Giggling Squid in Bury St.Edmunds, I was looking forward visiting the Cambridge branch. Overall was a good experience. The food was very good but, if there is one thing to say, the portions were not big enough, especially the starters. Quality was very good and the dumplings were very tasty. The place has great decoration and it is very theatrical. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you believe this review has been helpful, please don t forget to press the button. Thank you
The interior layout is very beautiful and unique, the food is great too
Comfortable dinning environment.
Cool venue, lamb masamam was delicious. Drunken ribs were meh, both kinda pricey as well. Reasonably priced cocktails though which were nice.
Wonderful place for a dinner with colleagues. The choice is important and the cuisine has taste! Be careful with very spicy dishes!! But overall very good meal!!
The food was cold and although we mention it twice they ignored us. Four of us ordered their most expensive signature dish and the meat was chewy. We couldnt swallow it. Food
The best thai restaurant in Cambridge. Creative menu and well-prepared food. Staff are polite and accommodating. Good cocktail and atmosphere. Impressively, when about to leave, waiter and waitress smiled and said Have a good day
Very enjoyable food and enjoyed my wine too. Quick and friendly service!
Design of the hall unable you to talk and hear your partner. Last supper for me !
Great tasting Thai food in a nice room in the Guildhall. The acoustics are difficult and it can get noisy. You have to ask for the lunch menu if dining during the day but it is well worth it.
Best Thai food in Cambridge! We ordered the Salt and pepper squid, as well as the Pork skewers for starters and they were reaaallllyyy good. Curries like the sea bass and duck were really good. Didnt enjoy the beef masamman that much but it was still a good dish. Loved the pad Thai! Service was fast and friendly, all our mains food came at once. I definitely recommend it
For a normally I dont like Thai food (outside of Thailand), this was fantastic. Great sharing platters and cocktails, even for those of us that needed to virgin cocktails.
Loved it! Cant wait to return! Dietary restrictions: They are really hot on adhering to any allergies you inform them of. Food : 5/5 |
Just amazing. The food is unquestionably delicious but the stand out for me is the service. For every one of these guys it seems like the customer experience is paramount. Even walking to the toilets past waiting staff they ALL acknowledge, smile and say hello .
We had a lovely meal at giggling squid today, highly recommend to anyone visiting Cambridge! Staff very attentive and nice, food was delicious and the building is stunning. Really good virgin cocktail variety too for those who do not drink! Good halal options. Only point to make would be that the toilet area needs a renovation.
Amazing place. Good varied menu and the cocktails are amazing!! Food
Just dropped in on the way to the Cambridge Arts Theatre (which is virtually opposite). Really enjoyed everything about it. Could have just stayed there-forgotten all about the theatre-and stuffed my face all night.
Amazing decor with great service and delicious food a pleasure to come and dine in had the sticky chicken and a daiquiri was amazing
amazing, kind service and beautiful food with such a cute interior the thai tea and lychee cocktail was stunning and everything from the starters to the mains were gorgeous
Had gone for lunch last weekend and the atmosphere, vibe and the ambience was great! The Thai Sabai cocktail was The Butterfly shrimp pad Thai was excellent! Overall an amazing restaurant for Thai cuisine!
Waited an hour for mediocre food. Really not worth the time and money, never going back again.
Went to the restaurant with a couple of work colleagues. The restaurant is quite spacious, very well decorated walls, and also nicely divided in smaller sections with tables for small or large groups. They offer different type of Thai food, and there are a few options for those who prefer vegetarian, mild, or spicy food. The presentation of the various food on different plates was beautiful and we all found the food to be delicious. The staff were friendly. The price was in the standard to high range. Parking: For parking, you would have to use the Lion Yard parking, as this restaurant is in the Cambridge central area. But if you are not visiting the restaurant on the weekend, the parking might be free after 6 pm.
Gorgeous restaurant with fantastic food. Go before 7:30pm when not so crowded.
Been to other GS before but the setting is lovely. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional
Great food and atmosphere. Been to other giggling squids and this one has a fantastic building. It does get fairly noisy when full as its just a big open room however.
Great place to eat. Lovely atmosphere and good value for money. Already recommended to friends!
Was an amazing experience, staff were super friendly, restaurant was super well decorated. Overall superb. Will probably be going here every time.
First visit for pre-concert meal on a Saturday night. Light & airy restaurant. Waiter took order within 10 minutes of being seated. We knew what to order as had browsed menu online beforehand. We ordered the veg spring rolls to share for starters. Well presented, light & crispy. They arrived before the drinks, but that didnt matter as the waiter soon returned with them. For mains, red Thai curry for me, sticky chicken bites for hubby then shared egg fried rice and roti. For parking, Grand Arcade was free after 6pm and a 2 minute walk to the restaurant.
Interesting that just left at table post main course (930ish)and no one asked would you like anything else. So waited and watched all the tables being prepped for tomorrow plenty of staff and still no service. Impressed when music from kitchen staff was loud too. So we asked for the bill . Very bizarre ending
First time and will not be last , food was amazing. Highly recommend. Food
Tasty food full of flavour, great service, extensive allergen menu, good portion sizes and fair prices. All round great experience!
Thai restaurant although adapted to European tastes. Spacious and with beautiful decoration. Good attention and table service. Fast service. Very delicious food. We were six people. We almost all had a main dish (some two) and drinks. Due to a small incident that occurred at the end, they gave us drinks. The noodles, the duck rolls and in general everything they put were very delicious. The food marked as spicy actually has a mild and acceptable spiciness for our taste (if you have been to Asia you will notice the difference). The price was acceptable (about 25 pounds per person, although when we got the discount it was 20 pounds per head. A place to keep in mind and to return to.
Great food, nice staff and good ambience
Overall, lovely Restaurent to visit and the food is good but it s very overrated! You can get better Thai food in a lot of the local village pubs in the Cambridge area - however, if you re in Cambridge city centre, I would recommend for a tasty meal at a very reasonable price!
Good food ,good service very nice inside the building
Been in the past loads of times and its been great but tonight was awful. Order not taken for ages. Loads missing from the menu. Bottle of wine didnt arrive, couldnt get anyones attention so had to go to the bar and ask in the end. Got one of starters wrong so she had to eat alone later. Didnt clear plates before delivering mains. Didnt clear plates at the end of the meal, again we had to go to the bar to request the bill. Usually good but awful tonight. Was also out for my birthday EDIT: told me to contact them, never replied.
Amazing place!! City centre location, easy to find - dont miss it!! Great selections with great price. I love the vibe in this place, beatiful decor, nice and friendly staff, fab service!! The foods were beyond my expectation! Satisfying portion and they taste sooo great and authentic!! Not too hard to ask for plant based foods. Would highly recommend this place but maybe a reservation is needed - they are always full!! More than happy to come back next time !!
Consistently disappointing. I ve been multiple times because I love Thai food, but each time I ve walked away feeling like they missed an opportunity. The menu is interesting and inventive. Each dish has a lot of potential but it never quite meets it. If the flavours are great, the texture is off, or the meat doesn t taste good. If the meat is tender and delicious, the accompanying sauce is missing a kick. Nothing seems to even have a hint of spice, not even pepper, let alone actual Thai-level heat! If the dishes actually tasted like the menu described it, it d be worth the prices. The service is always adequate (feels impersonal but professional friendly, like at every restaurant chain). The decor is very influencer-friendly, I guess, but it s pleasant enough for non-influencers :P
Great food, nice staff and decent price. Beautiful interior! The garlic noodles and sticky chicken were incredible
Delicious food! Very nice staff. Lovely decorations. Worth the price as the food was really tasty. I recommend booking a table if youre planning to go there as they were very busy when we went there.
Terrible, inattentive service. Overshadowed everything. Family of six and still felt like we were invisible. Promised a birthday dessert for my daughter which never came. Disappointing. Beautiful building but looks are deceiving.
Beautiful place. Delicious food. Great service.
I love Thai food. But compared to any other Thai restaurant e ever been the food was rather mediocre. I had slow cooked pork. Which its rather random for a Thai restaurant .Was very fatty partner had beef which wasnt great either. Starter we had a platter again very disappointed. Service was good and its on a beautiful building. Everything was poor. Hence 2* and not 1* Overpriced too plus there is a service charge. Which I hate places that adds it. Basically its restaurant been greedy. This was my worst Thai ever.
The atmosphere was lovely. The food was delicious and very tasty. Staff were very helpful and dealt with our table really well.
Kid-friendliness: The food is so nice and food service. Food
Yet again another great experience. This time not with me but my mum and her friends who I bought tickets to see lost in music that night. My mums been with me before and loved the food. Hee friend had never been to a GS before! Needless to say they both had a great meal!!! See you soon Garcia
Although the service was amazing to point in tipping the waitress, this was my first time eating here after my girlfriend booked it, everything tasted amazing apart from one item, the crab we got ima sharer player but didn t think much off it, as it was new to me I continued to eat it, after being brought to second wrong sharer, we still didn t complained and enjoyed it anyway, but upon getting home, myself and my partner have crontic stomach pains and myself even having diarrhoea, can 100% claim this has food poisoning as I had only eaten a couple snacks through out the day whilst waiting; not one normally to complain, but this time I felt something needs to be done in response
Fabulous food, excellent service and a wonderful place with beautiful decor.Mothers day meal which was a magical experience for all.Staff are fabulous and make the whole experience wonderful!!
Service here was shocking, every time staff were needed (to order food and drinks/get the bill) we had to make ourselves known instead of staff coming to us. Service was rude and ignored us most of the night and when we asked for menus it took 5+ minutes and a different server to bring it. When led to our table Service was rude and blunt, showing no interest in being nice or pleasant. People around us were getting served a lot quicker (even just to get the menus / drinks ordered). The food was lovely, came in relatively good time, and tasted lovely, with an allergy on the table there was no issues with that. Drinks were lovely too. At the end of the meal a substantial service charge was put on the bill without asking or an option to remove (without us asking). For the charge that this was the service was way too awful to justify. Disappointing in general as this was a recommendation from a friend who had previously enjoyed at a different location.
Giggling squid is the best resteraunt i have ever consumed edible foot at would defo recommend Vegetarian options: No vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Go heee if ur obese Parking: Good lofation in the middle of the m25 in old trafford in the souther atlantic Kid-friendliness: They swear at kids Wheelchair accessibility: Youll never walk again
Food was tasty, made my whole party full! The only thing that happened is that the waiters kept pushing us/making us rush to order something! But evreything else was spectacular!!!
Waited a long time to finally go to this restaurant and I m just sad about how bad it turned out to be. Two stars for the starter. My colada drink wasn t great, the prawn massaman was so bad that I left most of it. This curry was very watered down and lacked everything including flavour. No one came to check if our food was ok and when the staff came to see if we had finished I told him the curry wasn t good and that I couldn t eat it. The staff took it away but never came back- not even to ask if we wanted desserts because we wanted to try their jasmine ice cream but I rushed to the toilet after leaving the restaurant and still have mild stomach ache. My friend got chicken satay which was SO DRY but his main was ok. My starter was good but everything else was bad. We removed service charge and even told the manager what was wrong - no response or further questions about why we didn t enjoy the meal just ok so it will be £65 .
Always our favorite restaurant when visiting different cities in the UK! Ask for their lunch sets which are perfect for lunch!
We really loved our time here. We mentioned on the booking form that it was our anniversary and when we arrived they gave us a great seat and 2 free glasses of fizz which was amazing. The food was amazing and so reasonable and the waiters were really friendly. Decor was beautiful the only (tiny) feedback would be that it was quite bright in there for dinner time and it would be nice if it was slightly dimmer (just atmosphere wise). Apart from that we loved it
My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and we were super in love with the decor, food and service from CK. He was so so helpful (even helped take pictures of us) and took care of us. The food was really flavourful and we were so full that unfortunately we didn t get the chance to try desserts :( Will definitely be coming back!
Great place, loved it.
Great food and meal however the service was a bit poor. They first forgot some of the table starters and then forgot some of the mains. Would go again but the service was just very poor and not what we expected for a £200 plus meal.
Excellent celebration lunch with first class food and service
Amazing Service from JK
Waiter couldnt find salt so she gave up.. Couldnt be bothered to fetch some from kitchen when asked
Outstanding! Probably the best Thai food I have ever had in the western world.
Many menu items unavailable significantly limiting choice. Small portion sizes. Lovely location but overall very disappointing. Overpriced and underwhelming.
It should be all about the food but the food here is average but the price is high end. The service is not attentive. It s supposed to be a nice restaurant it s not judging by the toilets which were disgusting. We were underwhelmed, disappointed and won t come back. Food
An amazing restaurant with some of the best Thai food Ive ever eaten the spring rolls were so crispy and fresh and all my food came piping hot. Our waitress I believe her name was Yeepun couldnt do enough for us Im so helpful she really made us feel welcome thank you. The decor in the restaurant was to the highest standard Im very classy Vegetarian options: The vegetable spring rolls with a best Ive ever had Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is all in on one level so its very wheelchair accessible and has a good disabled toilet
We had a lovely time at the giggling squid today. The food was absolutely delicious especially the sticky chicken which I highly recommend along with the golden moneybags and egg fried rice. Will be returning soon!
Great food and amazing attention to allergens! They give you a QR code to scan and then you can filter out items with a specific allergen - makes the whole process of avoiding shellfish for me much less stressful and would highly recommend that all restaurants follow a similar process. One negative thing was feeling rushed - every time I put my fork down for a few seconds, I would get asked if I was done with my meal, despite me having half the food still on the plate which was stressful.
Best thai food, try thai pad and sea food platter
The food was fine. The prices are also ok. The decor is very interesting, it enlightens your mood.
Kid-friendliness: Perfect kids menu and very kid-friendly staff! Food
We visited as a group of friends for our pre-Christmas gathering. Unfortunately the food left more to be desired. The crispy octopus that we ordered for the starter was very greasy and over the top spicy. There was too much batter and too little octopus in there. The beef Penang curry was very disappointing too - the beef was very chewy, rubbery...felt like the cheapest cut of beef they could find. Unfortunately I had to leave my main as it was inedible. The service was quite efficient considering the size of our group. But I will not be returning here due to the low quality of the food
Fantastic meal, all the food was delicious and the service was second to none!
Good services, the staff here are very friendly. Very classic thai food very good taste. I really recommend the fruity and floral cocktail here
Busy. Delicious food
Usually pretty happy with giggling squid. Ordered cashew stir fry and it was very bland. Had a decent cocktail though, but at these prices that s expected
It is a very good restaurant to call in. The decoration and greetings are very good, but the food is average and the limited time dining is a bit restrictive. Parking: There is free parking at nearby shopping malls after 6 p.m.
Everything about this dining experience was exquisite. The interior decoration is gorgeous and the dishes are authentically Thai and offer a more varied selection than those usually available from more mainstream Thai restaurant menus. The food is aromatic and tasty.
One of the best places I have ever dined at. Service was polite and phenomenal, food was divine and the atmosphere was simply charming and so beautiful.
Overall good experience. The food was good as always, however, the service was slightly slow and the lighting was so bright
Perfect. I usually only seem to be able to leave negative reviews... but our first visit to the Cambridge restaurant actually restored my faith in mid-price dining in the UK. quick friendly service, AMAZING food... and a beautiful location. Garry (our waiter) was so patient, knowledgable and was completely right with his recommendation for the Lamb Shank Curry - it was perfect, tasty and sooo well cooked. our starters were presented beautifully. But unlike some of y other reviews (bills for example0 we left having NOT felt wed wasted our time and money. This restaurant has become one of our favourites. thank you!
Food is very good, as are the drinks, one of the best venues in cambridge, nice service. One of the better places to go.
Food was amazing. Will definitely come back
We have 2 cocktails (Lady in Pink, mojito) both had good flavour but tasted like it had Zero (0%) Alcohol. Perhaps we were served Mocktails by mistake!
Fantastic food Vegetarian options: Not sure Dietary restrictions: Not sure Kid-friendliness: Not sure Wheelchair accessibility: Not sure
a lady of her senior years that worked there, on the front desk was extremely rude. she deliberately slammed the door in our face as we were walking into the entrance hall again, we left just after 14;30 if you want to review cctv. she also deliberately skipped us in the queue after i told her i d just booked. her colleage apologised for her behaviour and manner which we appreciate and gave us a seat, she made us feel welcome and so did the girl and young guy that served us. please review the cctv!! they deserve a promotion or staff member of of the month or however you guys reward ur staff in the cambridge restaurant. !!! all three of them!!! Only gave service a 3/5 bc of her
Very fancy environment. The restaurant is big! Melting beef and coconut rice was so good, beef was tender and rich in flavour. It goes super well with the coconut rice. Their coconut rice was rather creamy and moist rather than a dry version. I like it! I finished them all by myself Food
The atmosphere and service at the Giggling Squid was great, food arrived very quickly. The vegetable Massaman and Thai Red Curry was flavourful and tasty! Vegetarian options: The vegetable Massaman and Thai Red Curry were flavourful and tasty!
Great food and drink in an amazing setting
Been to few locations of GS across England. Cambridge one is based in magnificent building. Stunning decor and attention to detail. Plenty of seating arrangements, alcoves, tables for 2, 3 and so on. Familiar food perfectly executed. Vert tasty. Whole experience diminished by staff members who rush you to place an order however not a single re-visit during the meal. Noone smiled there really.
Great food. The servers dont pay any attention and leave us constantly waiting, ignoring us when we wave at them, when the restaurant is already emptying out.
Really disappointing. Thought Id drop in for a birthday treat for lunch. Was asked to move table then when I said ok and got my coat was told to wait until they got it ready for me like I had asked to move? The red curry was watery and bland and barely any chicken in it. Really disappointing. Now, I have to say, I did not expect to get this for free. When paying I said it was disappointing and the supervisor took it off the bill, which I was surprised by.
EVERYTHING WAS GREAT.......FOOD, SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE
Amazing food. Great service and amazing atmosphere.
The food was excellent. Been here many times never disappointed.
