Laid-back rooms & suites in a low-key oceanfront hotel with an indoor pool, beach access & dining.
I stayed three nights. I was a bit concerned about the construction and being in a connected room. No worries - it was very quiet at night. During the day you have noise no matter where you are. I didn't have much to do with staff - they always said hello. The room was clean and had reasonable supplies (towels, soaps) however the smell of old cigarette smoke was awful. As former smokers (including me) know, the things you have when you smoked still smell of horrible stale cigarette smoke years later. The hotel rooms are now non-smoking however the old smoke smell is in the curtains and fabric chair. I know management said rooms and furniture are being upgraded however it would do a lot for the room to replace the curtains and sitting chairs now. And get a leather or faux leather, not fabric. I had the fan going the entire time, otherwise the old smoke smell just kept getting stronger. This would not be comfortable for anyone with sensitivities so ask for a room where there is new furniture since the no smoking policy. I had a CAA deal which was reasonable given the options in Campbell River. I ate elsewhere as the feedback on the restaurant made me hesitant to eat on site. As reasonable as other hotels in Campbell River.
We recently had our wedding at the Anchor Inn. I will try to express my heartfelt gratitude here to the staff who made our day spectacular. Everyone that attended raved about the stunning scenery, exceptional food, customer service, and all-around perfection that made our day purely magical. Especially since it was only planned 3 months prior. The flowers (table arrangements and boutiques) were so gorgeous. I wish I could have kept them alive forever. The food was beyond ours and the guests' expectations. So delicious! The level of effort, thought, and detail that went into decorating was exceptional. We are so full of gratitude 🙏 I think the best part about our experience besides a truely flawless day was our interactions with the staff. The staff made us feel so special and treated us so well. The bridal and honeymoon suits were gorgeous. The views from these rooms are just unreal. I can't thank everyone enough and couldn't recommend a better venue to get married at. Tammy-Lynn Armstrong was the kindest, most considered wedding planner. I feel we have created lifetime friendships with the staff. They certainly hold a special place in my heart. This place is just getting better and better as the renovations continue to occur. We are excited to see the transformation! Thank you all for everything!!
I absolutely loved and enjoyed my stay here, I booked 2 nights in a theme room. on the first night, unfortunately, it was miserable, at no fault to the staff! I had extremely loud & rule breaking neighbors due to a wedding party. The staff Chris was incredible, and the manager Beverly was amazing!! Once the staff became aware of the situation, they handled it with complete professionalism & I was given an additional night at no cost to enjoy the 2 nights in relaxation that was paid for. I have stayed here twice before with great experiences. The restaurant has a beautiful view and a great menu. There is a pool and small gym on site as well as massage spa. It's the most relaxing Waterfront hotel. You can watch the cruise ships go by from your room or jacuzzi tub! ( limited rooms with jetted tub option) The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are amazing. I usually do a review for restaurants after 3 separate dinnings if it's local, as restaurants have different chefs and rotating staff, and I want to give an honest review. This was my 3rd stay at the hotel and restaurant, I don't know if the restaurant still opens for breakfast as the waitress mentioned it may stop doing breakfast, so I'd ask upon booking. The only complaint I had upon 3 separate stays had nothing to do with the hotel or staff, just inconsiderate guests. The response of the staff and management was 100% satisfactory.
Nice location with sea view. However, we wanted to clean our clothes and there is only one washing machine and one dryer. Breakfast was not that nice but I can not complain, the lady did not charge us and I commend the hotel for that, it was a good gesture. Big parking available. There are many restaurants near by as well. I would stay again.
They are updating the hotel. I'm sure it will be great. Our room #402 inside was great, but we could not sit outside as we could smell propane from the laundry room. When we could get outside, the fold up patio chairs needed to be replaced as one of the feet was broken off. Also They kept getting stuck in the spaces of the deck. As I said, they are doing renovations, and other rooms should be good.
The restaurant is exceptional! The food is excellent and the staff are unbelievably accommodating. Our fishing group of 10 people discovered the Anchor Inn a couple years ago and are back for our third year. Toni is has been here each year and she is amazing. Toni, Tammy, and Lilly went so far and beyond for our group this year! All the meals in the restaurant were fantastic, as usual. What we really love, however, is that we can order individual to go breakfast bags for our fishing days, the night before. The to go lunches for hungry fishers is over the top good!!! Stay here and eat here when in Campbell River. The best!
So, this hotel saved us. We originally were planning on staying at another hotel that turned out to be gross and infested with silverfish. It was the long weekend, so we were honestly thinking we might have to go home, but called here in a desperate attempt. Staff was *incredibly* friendly and helpful, especially since we were a group of 5 exhausted people. The rooms were clean and modern, and we all let out a big sigh of relief. Additionally, it has an excellent view and a good restaurant. Would definitely stay here again next time we are at the island!
Was lied to from front desk around 8pm about where the horrible music was coming from, we asked if it was from the restaurant as we were directly below it. We asked if they hosted karaoke night or something, was told, the music wasn't from the restaurant & that they'd look into it. We called back again to complain and was then told it was the grand reopening of the restaurant and the music would continue until 10pm. We would have appreciated being told this at check in and it would have been nice if we had been offered to move rooms, just be honest with your guests. The bathroom in 208 is going to get mouldy, the exhaust fan is boarded up and running even if you flick the switch. It has a beautiful view but wasn't that enjoyable with maintenance people hanging around the decks slowly painting, but showing more concern with their phone. There is a light at night simular to a fire alarm strobe light in the corner of the deck that flashed all night long & should probably be checked out. At check out I mentioned what a harsh night it had been and he didn't ask any questions or show any concerns about why we weren't happy, nothing was asked about if we had enjoyed our stay. Won't be back, but good luck with renovations.
Not impressed
Made reservation directly with hotel, Laura was very nice and accommodating. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and staff are excellent.
Attended a 2 hour seminar in a large room with ocean view. Plenty of parking in the lower lot. Atmosphere was friendly.
Dismal. Room keys need reloading constantly. Hot water not really hot. Bar staff in Sunday a bitter nightmare. Give this one a pass.
Food was excellent
Room was fine and clean but had no number on the door. Counting helped. The entrance and hallway in particular are in need of renovation. Air conditioning very loud.
Very professional, just a little bit expensive. Well it was the tourist season. This is where you want to take a mate! Dont forget the theme rooms. OHOH!
The room had everything you needed. The room is a bit shabby, the furniture is getting old - it didnt smell good when airing the room. To get to the restaurant it is a walk down several floors. The view in the restaurant was nice - service was good - dinner and breakfast didnt convince me.
Beautiful spot,great service
Clean room and good price! I can recommend the Inn unconditionally.
Good value for money. Sea view room.
While the rooms could use updating, they were clean, comfortable and spacious. My family and I were comfortable, and what more can you ask? Rooms : 4/5
Going through renovation but well managed. Awesome food at the restaurant
Dated place with friendly staff. Quiet stay, ocean views. Decent restaurant, salmon burger was worth a wait. Less one star as place is aging, though they slowly renovating some units.
Excellent room Ocean view Rooms
Great place
I was to check in today. There has been some changes. No restaurant or lounge. I was refunded in full and able to cancel the reservation. I thank the front staff. I will try again the next time I m in the area. I have always enjoyed my past experience. Thank you. Rooms
Room was really clean, the view amazing. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The housekeepers are the best..they work so hard and keep the rooms lovely. They are superstars. Thank you. Will stay again.
Front desk staff neglected to mention that restaurant was reopening that night, and music planned until 10pm. M The restaurant was on the floor right above, and was extremely disruptive. When I called to comment/ complain ( twice ), I was told at first that theyd look into it. I called 20 minutes later, and I said it sounded like karaoke from the restaurant. The front desk clerk said no, its not the restaurant. Roughly 20 after that, the clerk said yes, it was the restaurant. It was their grand reopening, but the music would only be another hour or so, and thank you for your patience! It would have been nice to be notified about it at check in, but to be bold faced lied to left a very sour taste in my mouth about this place. There was also a very bright light flashing right outside my patio door. I thought it was a fire alarm type stobe, the intensity was that bright. I will never go back
We went to a wedding. The food was really bad...they didnt have diet coke ...
staff were very friendly clean rooms restaraunt in building.food very tasty! Hotel highlights
Ive only been to the resteraunt I live 10 mins away. Beautiful views good wings cold beer cant go wrong.
My mom Blythe and I, along with my two little girls checked in the hotel for two nights. I felt we needed a vacation. We never have the opportunity to do something nice so I rented the room spontaneously for a little family treat. The room was great! The desk staff had great customer service and we will be back. But I took my mom and little ones for breakfast in the hotel restaurant and we were very disappointed. Our food was not good at all. My mom is celiac and asked for no toast, and she got toast on top of her food. So her food was covered in crumbs. There was also fish batter in her hash browns. The bacon, and ham were deep-fried and were hard to chew and and not nice for a 5 and 2 year old to try to eat. My youngest has a severe dairy allergy and an egg allergy and there was fish batter in all of the hash browns which were also overly greasy we could not eat them. My children left hungry and we left extremely unsatisfied.
Went to the restaurant for supper. Best view and great food.
Good service. Location is amazing. The building is run down. Ceiling patches in the room. Damage in hallways. Room numbers on doors written in black felt marker. Needs a complete rebuild and this place would be a gold mine. Too bad its not looked after. Its a shame. Spend more money and stay elsewhere. Im in construction and it wouldnt take much to put a new facelift on this place.
Shower is kind of useless (less pressure and temperature difficult to calibrate) View on the sea, but behind a dirty backyard wich destroys the view a little Door is hard to open with magnetic keys Restaurant smells dirty
Quite a nice place and very economical for what youre getting.
Had a lunch for 28 women and all staff were outstanding. Waitress and cook terrific and they went out of their way to make the affair a success. Thanks Anchor Inn !
Lunch was vary good Friday 2 pieces fish and chip with a beer $25 thanks
This place never fails to impress me. Bev at reception is so friendly and Cory in the resteraunt is absolutely amazing. Theyre both so friendly. The food is also fantastic.
If it wasnt for the waitress, we would have never stayed. The food was terrible. We went there for my sons birthday we wont be back and we wont Recommend this place very sad for our community
Very run down and dated hotel. The whole building needs to be renovated to reflect this millennium. Wallpaper everywhere was peeling and nasty looking, there was mould in the ceiling of the shower, hot tub is closed indefinitely and the pool was cold. Also, signs posted everywhere that just scream, we dont want you here. A hospitality course would help the management of this joint.
location and views are really special, and the layout of the hotel with a restaurant at the top and various ammenities within is really cool. HOWEVER, things are in disrepair. The chair in my room broke in half when i sat on it, the gym is basically unusable because the equipment is broken, the hottub is out of commision, the key readers on the doors dont work very well. things in general just look like they havent been repaired or tended to in 10ish years. Its like they ran out of money and are just barely able to keep the doors open. The gym only has 1 key and thus only one person is aloud to use it at a time, and you need to sign it out at the front desk. This place has a lot of potential but unfortunately it is not living up to it currently.
We enjoyed our stay here: the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is conveniently located to the city centre and we had an amazing ocean view off our balcony!
Has a pool
Its a great spot for winter storm watching. Campbell River has created an amazing system of trails, from ocean front to rainforest. After a few hours hiking, it is great to just walk downstairs to their in house restaurant. Hopefully, they can keep the current chef, as the dinners we had were delicious.
Clean, comfortable and awesome pool! Breakfast included which is nice when you re visiting family and need to be out the door early.
Christmas party. Really great food and service
Beautiful place and Brunch was delicious. Clam chowder bowl is huge and worth the price, and amazing Fish and Chips!! View is spectacular!!
We just had an amazing mini vacay at The Anchor Inn! Our room was sparkling clean and the bed was so comfortable! The guest service agent at the front desk was very welcoming and efficient at checking us in. We had an incredible dinner at The Waterfront Restaurant. The view was also spectacular! We will definitely be returning next time we need a little getaway!
The views are 2nd to none, sunrises are unbelievable. The restaurant service and food is good. Wish the spa was available for my wife. Recommend this place, get a room up top you wont regret it. Walkability: Beautiful ocean views, close walk to downtown, and seawalk along shore.
Never stayed but came for brunch. Best pancakes and bacon in town but had issues with making over easy eggs. Other than that great view excellent staff. Expect a hotel tour trying to find the restaurant but I say it is worth the walk.
We arrived in a snow storm and staff got us settled quickly, room access was confusing to get to as 2 floors seem further down the hill. Ocean view spectacular and proximity to downtown but quiet area was a plus.
I booked on Expedia but when I got there it was awkward as an employee saw me with my dog and said it was going to cost me an extra $50 a night .in this age of technology this is poor customer service.
I only visited to pick up orders but it does look like a great place and friendly staff
My first stay here, the ocean view is beautiful
pros: themed rooms pretty cool, all rooms are ocean view, pool is awesome, and desk staff has always been great cons: non themed rooms are pretty old, the executive suite has jet that is broken, and white sheets are not provided.. if you re not mobile stairs will be a major issue.
It is a decent older hotel, for over CA$100 per night in February, there was a clump of hair left on the tub side of the shower curtain. Not impressive at all. February was off season and the hotel was fairly empty, there is no reason the cleaning staff couldnt double check everything to ensure the room is clean.
Clean room with a beautiful ocean view. Awesome service. Very friendly and welcoming front desk staff.
Mixed feelings about this hotel. The customer service was decent, and the ocean views were amazing! However, I was looking forward to the hot tub but the jets didnt work and the pool was on the much colder side. I also wondered about so many locals using it, and discovered locals use the pool, not just the hotel guests. Felt like a public pool, and the hot tub felt dirty. The restaurant was undergoing renovations, which we were warned about, so that may have given this review more stars. I also wanted to use the gym but someone had the key and our cards dont work for it. They didnt offer a time when I could use it. The cards also quit working a few times so that was frustrating, not sure where the blame would lie in that though. There is nothing nearby to get any convenience or food or drink, so if you fly in dont expect this location great for that as the cab services here are very limited. I chose this hotel for the views and nostalgia of a more character hotel instead of a chain but think next time Id book at a place I can count on. Thanks for the views and trying your best. Best wishes for the renovations and hope a hotel like this can revive and thrive!
Great room and location. There was an issue with the water being turned off for half a day. And pool, hot tub and breakfast not operating. Nearby activities: Scuba Diving with Abyssal Diving was great.
Just went for swimming sall pool but quite was nice for the kids
Nice looking place. Friendly staff. Great room. Unfortunatly the morning we were leaving I went to my car at about 5 am and found there was fresh blood in the elevator. Not a wee smear or drop but a big blob with surgical tape in it. Another blob and a big smear going much of the length of the sill. I informed front desk. At 6 we went to our car again and it was still there. Contacted front desk again. Sending someone right away. At 7 we used the stairs to go to breakfast because it was still there. I informed the person running the breakfast and was told it was fruit. (I was in nursing for 30 years so know blood and when did they start wrapping fruit in surgical tape?) Then told nothing could be done until cleaning staff arrived at 8 am. We passed that info on to other patrons and they were equaly unimpressed. Considering blood is considered a bio hazard and can be quite a trigger for some when they see it we were quite shocked and dumbfounded by the lack a daisy, oh well, well get to it when we do approach to the situation and made us seriously question how they approach sanitization of the rooms. But it did explain the gross film floating in the hot tub. Wont be back.
Horrible experience. Planned a nice quiet weekend and had to listen to a jack hammer allday. Hotel should have notified us they had heavy construction. Would not have stayed here. Front desk was no help stating no manager on site. Dont waste your time or money absolute joke.
I have never had a bad experience at this hotel. It s priced nicely, the rooms are always clean when I arrive, the reception is very friendly and I love having a patio overlooking the ocean!
This Inn was kind enough to book me a room with early check-in for a medical procedure I was coming to town for, when another wouldnt guarantee the early check in even though I had booked it a month before, leaving me to scramble. I was impressed with the fridge and microwave. The view was beautiful, along with the instant heat & a/c unit. I will book with you in the future for sure!! I was so thankful to the check-in staff, as she was also the one to book me in over the phone the day before.....thank you a 100 times!!!
Hands down THE best hotel in Campbell River!! The view is incredible!! The staff are unbelievably helpful, prompt and kind. Bev, the manager is an absolute gem and I would recommend this hotel to anyone at ANY time. Crisp & clean rooms. Peaceful, restful environment and I cannot emphasize enough how amazing our stay was here. Walkability: Downtown is just minutes away, as well as the docks and nearby restaurants/stores. Wonderful location. Noteworthy details: We had the chance to witness a rockstar wedding during our 2 1/2 week stay and it was amazing!! Helicopter flew in and was definitely something to remember!
Our keys didnt work on arrival, but it was a quick fix, the staff were very helpful, elevator was broken but they are in the middle of renovation? Food was great , people were really nice
Poorly managed. Nothing open or working, I even had to call myself to have a vending machine restocked. Black mold in the bathroom, and can honestly say the carpets have never had a shampoo since being installed. Dont let the pics fool you. This place is fit for farm animals and needs serious help to make it stay able for humans. Avoid it at all costs!!
Rooms: Rooms were nice. Is staff was great. Spent one night in a Theme room. That was quite unique. Balcony with an ocean view. Safety: Is felt very safe there. Someone was on staff All the time. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
This property needs better maintenance. Repairs going on in several places, and the elevator does not work. (Good thing I like stairs) good views from the rooms. Fair price. Walkability: Short walk to town.
Great room and view for the price cant be beat.
The hotel is abit older but its clean. The view from our room was beautiful. Unfortunately when were there the hottub was out of service, the restaurant was closed down and the snack machine wouldnt work but all in all its a nice, comfortable place to stay
A vintage decor that smells like damp carpet Rooms remain from the 90s
The parking is terrible and hard to navigate with inadequate space for both maneuvering and places to park. The view is very nice with little balconies off rooms which is nice. There is no elevator to go from entrance to the next 2 floors up or the floor down, although I never went downstairs, so I am not sure what the setup is beyond that point. But carrying your baggage up flights of stairs or just coming and going in general may not be very pleasant for anybody, especially if you are someone whom is not in good health, a little higher in years or struggling with physical issues. And there is no staff waiting to assist or offer assistance voluntarily for guests in lobby. The room was clean although becoming outdated in decor, the hallways are either interesting for someone whos into classic horror shows or spooky if you recognize the vibe you experience when you see it because The Shining is a familiar feel visually when you see it! Lol overall its a place to rest or hold ya over while needed but nothing special compared to other hotels and not extremely terrible non the less. I dont advise against a stay there although I also would not give a recommendation when asked of good hotels to stay at!
2022 Went to check out the new lounge and restaurant. Great views, lots of private little space. Nice sit up bar for about 8. Did not have a chance to try food yet. Definitely a place to persue further. HINT: park down below at ocean front, then take elevator up to 3rd floor. June 2023 Deck is open, has to be the best view in Campbell River. A couple of happy hours throughout the day. BBQ Chef also on the deck.
Happy to stay here for the second year in a row! Biggest value is the Oceanside rooms and view of the tides coming in and out, alongside proximity to whale watching tours (our main travel reason). Noticed that the meals have changed. Breakfast is now $7.99 (previously included) and is now more basic. Previously enjoyed the variety of fruits, juices, ++. They have gone more upscale with the restaurant with main dishes that are averaging $30-35 to previously more solid pub fare (burgers++). Not our style and we ate elsewhere in town instead. Good if that s what you re looking for though I m sure.
Stayed here for a wedding. The room was pretty nice. The bar area was very warm.
Stopped by for dinner at the restaurant, ordered fish and chips and had to send it back the batter was sill raw in the middle and the fish was cold . Second try was better but not by much 80 bucks for 2 bad dinners and 2 cans of beer, I wont be going back Noteworthy details: Beautiful view
This review is for the restaurant. One of the worst meals I have had all year. The staff were so friendly and nice, the view is phenomenal, the food though ..wow that s bad. I don t know what s worse, the chief or the GM that lets someone represent the restaurant in that way. It s unfortunate because the setting is stunning
We tried to rent a room so we could party, but the lady (Who smelt bad) was telling us that we had to pay extra for our room that we already paid for online, I m still waiting for my 200$ back.
Check-in process was smooth, staff were friendly, and the rooms were decently clean. Nice ocean views too. However, Id say this building and amenities need some upgrades. Its definitely showing its age, and most amenities were out of order, including the elevator. Probably stay somewhere else next time.
Food and drinks: Went last night, sorry, wont be back, was not impressed with food , service was shaky, bills were wrong, the view was beautiful, my burger was tastless, could use better direction in the restaurant for sure.
The A/C doesn t work in the room and when I told the front desk they said we know but there are no other rooms. They charged me full price for a room with A/C when they knew the A/C didn t work. It s 31 degrees out the rooms unbearably hot and they don t care. I won t stay here again we left early to stay at a different hotel.
The hotel here has seven floors, rooms were super clean, the food at the restaurant is excellent and has an excellent view of the ocean, the hotel is pet friendly as well! I recommend staying here if youre spending a couple of days in Campbell River
The rooms are a bit dated, and as others have mentioned, anything going on in the halls is very audible. Other than that it is a nice place, with great views, and friendly staff.
Our go to place to stay when we come to Campbell River! Rooms are always clean the kids enjoy the pool and the view is awesome.
Went for dinner last night, had the linguine with seafood. It was amazing! We also had the ceviche which was delicious, fresh and beautiful. We will be back! Best seafood place yet!
Had apples and drinks on the bar patio. Incredible view! Friendly and efficient service. Shared orders of various flavours of wings and calamari. Food was excellent if a little pricey. Very limited lounge menu.
Stopped this past Sunday while in CR and had a nice cold beer. Server Shara was great! Super friendly and fast good service. Folks around us aye and seems very pleased with the food. We will eat there next time for sure. Food and drinks: Awesome :-)
Had dinner here last night. I have been wanting to try their Scallops and Pork Belly What a let down. Although the sauce was good, the scallop and Pork were over cooked and completely dried out with absolutely no flavour. My companions shared the Tuna Ceviche and Salmon dinner. Salmon was way overcooked and the rest of the plate looked unappetizing. Both said the tuna tasted off. Service was just ok. I have also been wanting to try the patio but I think you have lost me.
Good for the views from the room. Restaurant service is also friendly. Pool was non-functional when we visited (no prior notice) and the front-desk person kinda just refused to offer anything for the inconvenience :-/
Spectacular views! Older hotel but clean and has an intriguing atmosphere.
Stayed in a theme room for our sons birthday. The room was a lot of fun however it was old and falling apart. A chair had a large rip in the middle of it, the couch was old and dirty, the decor was shabby. With some TLC the Western Room would be something to brag about. The breakfast buffet was $7.99 for hotel guests and hardly had any options. The pool was indoor and great however there was no water in the hot tub. Overall it wasnt a great experience
Went on a safari and never left the island....
Booked one of the theme rooms. Great view from every room, every room has a balcony. Clean hotel Rooms
Clean hotel with every room a ocean view and a balcony. Great food in the restaurant, only down side we had was our room was on the 7th floor and with no elevator going up to our floor it was quite a climb up. Rooms
Incredible views of the water and well appointed rooms. Massive thanks to the front desk staff for going the extra mile to help us with our booking, so helpful and friendly, they gave us the perfect welcome
We were here for dinner (Sept. 23) and were very pleased with the service and food. Prices were similar to other restaurants. The restaurant is a bit hidden in the house (basement seen from the street), but has a very nice view of the sea and the island of Quadra.
Room service was always very friendly. Our room was clean, but the entire hotel is really getting old! On the last day we wanted to go for breakfast. There was just a note on the cracked door that there was no breakfast today for unforeseeable reasons. We had booked with breakfast and were a bit confused. When we asked at the reception we were told that the boss was sick and therefore there was no breakfast. Not offering breakfast due to someone s illness ? Rather questionable!
Delicious food
Nice view
My husband and I stayed Oct 21. The room was extremely clean. Great view. Service above and beyond. We left behind 500. American in one of the drawers. Called when we realized what we had done. The staff right away checked our room. The staff were honest and we got our money. We could not be more thankful for the honesty and help we received. We will be back. We will be contacting the manager with the staff members name. Noteworthy details: Staff above and beyond helpful, honest and super friendly.
Hands down one of the best eggs Benny breakfasts Ive had in a long time. Amazing service, food was perfect, will be back for sure!
My mom and I stayed at this hotel on the first floor. We needed a pet friendly room. As soon as we entered our room we smelled overpowering deodorizer or perfume? We had to open the door to air it out it out because the smell was so strong. We got used to it as we stayed in our room. The dressers had grease stains in the drawers and there were small holes in the wall that were stuffed with tissue paper. We could hear people walking above us at 3am too. One nice thing is the view.
Had the fish and chip special last night. Food was great only made better by Tonis great service. Our first time here, but we will be back!
I cant even describe my stay because I didnt get through to anyone at the front desk I called for several hours consecutively they would put me on hold for about 10 minutes each time and hang up. 3 of us sat and called over 100 times we called My friends from out of town and their 2 kids waited in the rain for hours they live on the mainland as well so they are far away from home and had no place to go. Not impressed at all worst customer service Ive encountered In the hospitality industry. Their sign says Vacant but cant answer the phone ? How they run a business like this Id beyond me !!!!!
Beautiful hotel with a stunning view.
Good view and that is where it stops. Our room was dirty, smelt like a wet dog which was clearly there as the patio for the room still had all the paw marks. Sliding doors havent been cleaned in quite some time. The smoke free building constantly smells of cannabis. We slept fully dressed as we didnt trust the sheets. The restaurant looks good with a great view, but I was served breakfast in a paper plate and had to use plastic cutlery. Food was really not worth it either. The skirtings were missing from the bottom of the walls around half the room as well. It just felt like a backpackers in some small town that has no supply store and no laundromat.
Good hotel, much better than ramada
Had a great stay. And really enjoyed the restaurant.
Another hotel taking in the homeless population
The hotel is a maze, lobby on the fifth floor, need to pay for every single extra. Breakfast is dry and not that tasty when you want to have breakfast.
Amazing views. Nice restaurant and the gym looks lovely (although I didn t use it). It is a bit run down. Which is too bad as the property has lots of potential!
Amazing staff and clean comfortable rooms! It our go to place for a night away!
Clean rooms, and suites with two doubles and a king for families. The pool is a good size and shallow for kids, while the hot tub is a really warm tub but all is good and clean. The restaurant is vax pass only but they will bring the breakfast to the room if you dont have one.
Always a great view from the room. Breakfast is included and is a real hot meal, which is awesome. A pool and hot tub, with both being bookable during COVID, round out to be an enjoyable stay
Great hotel for the price. Beds were clean. Bathroom is new and clean. Colors are a little dated. Pool and hot tub looked great, but I didnt use them. Breakfast was nice, hot and fast. I was in their early. I think I will stay again in April. Oh, it might be an idea if you had doggie doo-doo bags outside near the beach and a place to put it...
Very accommodating staff, helpful and kind.
Anchor Inns every room with an ocean view is its signature asset. Your own private balcony overlooking Discovery Passage is worth the visit alone. The property is older, but it seems theyre trying to keep it updated. The pool / hot tub area is especially nice. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quite reasonably priced. With a real free breakfast included (not a motel-style Continental) its actually a pretty good deal. The restaurant / lounge strikes a balance between casual and fine dining. The dinner menu is well-thought-out and appropriately priced with generous portion sizes Overall their 3+ star rating is well-deserved.
Restaurant was amazing food, amazing views on the ocean great service
Perfect for a relaxing evening Morning sunshine in the room Delicious complimentary breakfast! Rooms : 5/5
It was cute!!! I loved it there. Just be aware no elevators. But very worth it. Rooms
Great staff .its clean and the best views ever totally worth the stay
Staff excellent
Very kind staff! Reception lady even called us to check through a window whale s in ocean swimming! Rooms was clean! Definitely will come back!
We only had dinner. The views were amazing.
Lovely , comfortable, quiet
Brutal experience when showing up. In the morning was compensated the proper room rate for the previous night when speaking to another lady up front & showing examples I had from online. She was absolutely fantastic! Book online instead of getting a room upon arrival to avoid any hassle. Views of the water from the room were awesome.
Stayed twice over the course of 6 months. First stay we were woken up by the fire alarm at 6am (forgivable, kids will be kids and we decided to give it another shot). Second stay we were woken up at 2am by a literal fist fight in the hallway! People screaming and doors slamming over and over again! Nighttime is absolute anarchy. If a good nights sleep is what you need, dont stay here. Not to mention, the dirty rooms and the ant infestation. Will never stay here again. I would rather sleep in my car. Not worth the price. The restaurant was good though!
Very nice place right by the ocean, views of whales and cruise ships. Great food
Good hotel with a view. The breakfast is awesome.
Way to expensive for for the quality of place. The Arabian room which was the only one available at $300 a night is laughable. Carpets are stained and gross shower is weak and it takes 45 min to fill up the jacuzzi that s randomly in the corner of the room. The included breakfast doesn t start in till 7 which is no good for anybody that works
Location, location, location as they say in real estate. The location is great, beautiful right by the sea with a fantastic view from the rooms and also from the restaurant. Room OK, a bit older but clean Pool top !! In some areas there is no elevator and requires climbing stairs.
Did not stay there. Attended a function and was impressed with the service.
Was lovely staying the weekend at anchor Inn, service was great, rooms great, restaurant was awesome, got to see a wedding happen and I had no idea they did that. Everything was great
Great visit to Campbell River. Every room looks out onto the water with fantastic views. Rooms are very clean and beds are super comfortable. Restaurant had a great variety and super friendly staff our 4th time staying here and well do many more again for sure.
Beautiful view. Hotel is a bit on the older side. Needs a bit of renovation but otherwise it was a good stay
Lovely views from all rooms! We were accommodated on the 1st floor because we were traveling with dogs. That was very convenient. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable. There could be better soundproofing between floors; the sound of people walking around on the floor above was loud, and went on until 2am. Other than that, there were no negatives.
Edited: I use to LOVE staying here but not anymore. The room next door has a broken bathroom fan that runs 24/7 and sounds like a helicopter in my room. It made the room unbearable and even the floor was vibrating. There was a solution: move me to a comparable empty room, but mgmt was asking me to pay more $ to move. Shockingly poor customer service. The manager called and she was beyond rude, insulting and should not be in customer service. I say this as a former manager at Club Med and other 4* and 5* hotels. Sadly, Ive referred colleagues here too. So feeling quite embarrassed now. (Previous photos deleted).
We ate at the restaurant yesterday and cant even describe how disappointed we were. It was amazing when it was Sushi By The Sea, great view from that area of the restaurant where it used to be. Now its dirty and dumpy looking, overpriced menu, $8 for 3 mediocre prawns. Definitely wont be returning. One positive note, the staff are very friendly.
Clean place. Comfortable bed. When we are on the balcony we look at a postcard. Lunch is excellent!!!
Room was clean and tidy, as well as the rest of the hotel. Very friendly staff and helpful. Rooms have a view of the ocean. Restaurant had good food, reasonably priced and excellent staff to serve you. We stayed for two weeks in April 2022. We would highly recommend this hotel.
We had the pleasure of staying here this past August long weekend, & it was great, from the kitchen staff, wonderful maintenance men to the fabulous chambermaids (who recently relocated from Vancouver) on the 2nd floor. Everyone smiling, happy & always so helpful, throw in the magnificent view, our weekend was made!! If we get the chance we will definitely be back! Campbell River Rocks!! P.S - I would give you 5 stars if you post floor info outside the elevator! Confused an old broad like me! Haha
Lovely collection of ocean front suites with balconies. Really enjoyed my stay here with friends! Friendly welcome center and conveniently located! Recommend if you planning to coming to Campbell river or comox valley!
front desk team was amazing... clean roo.... had a great view from the balcony ... will certainly go back
We stayed in the western theme room, it was absolutely amazing ! Maria had phenomenal customer service and we can t wait to be back !!
Fantastic view, great staff. Rooms also good, slowly becoming a bit old-fashioned, but the location makes up for everything.
The room was pretty standard, though it did have a beautiful ocean view. The beds were comfortable and clean. The housekeeping staff were very nice and did a good job of keeping the rooms clean. The price paid was not consistent with the value offered, $200 per night is all this place is worth.
Great beds. Great breakfast and fantastic views from every room
Amazing ocean views & service! Rooms were spotless and service was great. Maria went above and beyond for us, making recommendations, answering a million questions. She even personally booked our fishing license for us. We had no idea how to do it lol. So knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! Great experience overall.
Rooms are facing the waterfront. You wake up to beautiful sunrises. When I stayed there staff was super helpful.
Came in after 11 after a week of camping. Night auditor was super friendly, the views in the morning were amazing! Missed the breakfast but asume it was good
This review is of the restaurant only. The food was all overcooked (ordered mussel and clams and over 1/2 of shells were empty) and restaurant bathrooms were very dirty. The staff was great, but food was subpar and overpriced given the quality.
A long walk to the back, and confusing floor structures, but breakfast was included which was a good thing because it was priced at $18 without, I suppose you could pig out on scrambled eggs and sausages.
The place for the money was very disappointing. The rugs are dirty, especially in the restaurant they are absolutely filthy. Shower had only cold water. This place is extremely overpriced. The worst place for the money that we have ever stayed. Good view but that was all.
We ate at the restaurant there was a hair in a burger and hair inside the menu. Only one server she was fabulous. No elevator. Other food was good generous portions though the plate with the burger had way fewer fries then everyone else
Amazing service and great staff
My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights this week and we were impressed with the friendly welcome at front desk and everything after that. First of all we received coupons for the 2 mornings we were there to have full breakfast (buffet style) and I must say everything was fresh, hot and delicious. We didn t use the pool or hot tub but we checked them out and they looked great. Room was cleaned really well, just carpet and furniture a little outdated. But no complaints here as the beautiful view of the ocean was priceless. We also chose to eat dinner both nights at the restaurant and we were really impressed not only with the delicious food but the service as well. So nice to have such a great experience. We will definitely return. Thank you for providing such a wonderful getaway.
I booked this hotel for my first work trip as the hotel that was hosting the conference was sold out for the night. Check in was easy, there was a friendly woman that greeted me. She told me all about the hotel and the amenities. Great service! My hotel room was perfect for me for the night, the roar of the ocean makes for a great background sound on a stormy night! The hotel is relatively quiet have only heard a few other guests in the hallway but other than that its been great! I will definitely stay here again!
Elevatora not working. Pool is down for repair. Maintenance issues everywhere. Junk stored on balcony of first floor by the entrance. Lack of supplies (no tissues supplied when depleted), restaurant unwilling to bill to your room (likely concerned about getting paid). Appears to be going bankrupt. Recommend you not prepay for your room, eventually some people are going to be stung losing their money.
Noteworthy details: Lots of stairs, elevator out of order Rooms
This is a wonderful hotel, the staff are friendly helpful and accommodating the pub is nice and the food is good.. they have a nice pool large rooms it is a bit noisy if your on lower floors but the top floor is wonderful and quiet. I recommend staying here it is close to town and shopping.. The rooms on the top floor are themed and have large jacuzzi style tubs right in the room, how cool is that
No elevator, noisy floors above my head and the bed was horrible.
Staff is wonderful. Restaurant has a limited menu, but the food is EXCELLENT! Views are spectacular. Only lost a star because the elevator was out of service and had been for quite some time.
Went to the Pacific ballroom , 9am / 4pm. Lunch was served, coffee and water with orange juice. Pastries were available. They had tea and hot water, Soda pop . The view was awesome and we seen some killer whales go by. Service was great and friendly, smiling. Was a great day at a great place... only problem is leaving the parking lot up the big hill. Not enough paint on the road , people are driving in the middle and almost caused accident.
Attended a Christmas party and the food was great
Went for a staff party dinner, thier service was fantastic and the view was amazing! Thier elevator was completely down which made it difficult for me as I am disabled. Which took my recent experience from 5 Star to a 4 star. I didnt stay in the hotel, but the staff I interacted with were wonderful! I would recommend!
Clean quiet..good breakfast Noteworthy details: Good staff.. Hotel highlights Great view, Great value
Great views from the restaurant. The food and service was good.
Best 3 star hotel by far. We had a great stay!Honestly it was really great! We stayed in an executive suite, it was clean, spacious with a dining table, sofa, love seat and king bed. Jacuzzi tub and full shower bathroom microwave, fridge, coffee maker, fire.place, TV. Pretty great for not being a 5 star. The staff were really nice too! Definetly going back. And the veiw of the water amazingI
Amazing views, comfy beds, and great breakfast buffet
You cant go wrong with ocean view hotel
Good views, decent restaurant but the hotel is getting tired.
Very nice but a little worn
Maid wasnt in as 9ften as should have I dont think its fair local people be able to go to pool and hot tub for customers are the ones on holiday we pay it wasnt fair overall it was ok
I m sure this place was really nice in the 90s but it looks really worn down and old. Pool is kind of yucky and hot tub was out of order. Location is amazing and the service was quite good but I d rather have stayed elsewhere
Great place to stay right on the ocean food was good in the restaurant
Good food view over looking ocean
Close to downtown great view, pretty good restaurant but the rooms are getting old.
Great place to stay very quit and nice veiw
In an amazing location in Campbell River. Sun rise is great over the water. The hotel is in of structure serious help. Staff are great, doing their best given what they have to work with. Management needs to work accessible access, but I wont go on. Still...if you are up to a retro experience. Hand railings must be dealt with on access to first floor. This is mandatory for safety.we booked a room for minimal special needs ie bathroom grab rails for tub. Additionally staff should be identified by uniform or t shirt since the back door isnt locked ever...
Comfy beds, nice staff and nice view. Every room has its own balcony. There is a nice hot tub and pool with a beautiful mural. The hotel allows people not staying there to use the pool for a small fee ($5 for adults, $4 for kids) which is nice for the community, but makes the pool too crowded in the evenings.
I did see adds for employees needed but things are in need of attention. Stranger walked into my room. Someone was given a key card to our room as we moved rooms. Then we get a callthis room isnt supposed to be occupied! My 3 year old was scared and wouldnt sleep. Kept saying someone is coming in the room. Loud slamming doors as house keepers move around were making him scared in the mornings too. The pool was cold and hot tub not working. Quite gross looking. Water should be drained out.. blow-dry was full of lint hair and dust and ice bin stunk of must and mold. Employees at front were never in uniform and not sure welcoming. Restaurant staff were great when we went for our breakfast which it was great to have a hot breakfast. We moved to a different hotel instead of staying any longer
Great weekend. Rooms have amazing views. Staff friendly.
Had one of my freinds stay in one of the western themed rooms it was a cool experience and I guess at the time we had gone when the pool had just been redone very nice pool / hottub area and comfy ammenitys will be coming back myself to stay with my fiance in the future !
Nice place for a fair price. Nice view from the top floors.
