Wow such a hidden little gem as I had to visit lovely Campbell river for work and stayed close by in the hotel and coming from DT Vancouver (yaletown) I know Pho like the back of my hand as we re spoiled with this food in downtown. I have to say this is one of my favourite places ever that I ve been! And that s saying a lot. I got the beef Secoue with the garlic butter chicken wings and omg! Seriously you guys. Excellent food! Portions also! The taste was amazing! This is a treat for this town and more people should definitely come here!! Thanks guys. If I ever come back you are #1 on my list to visit again

Wonderful food and super friendly staff, a great family run restaurant ! New favorite

Nhua is our go-to for lunch and dinner dates. Its 100% authentic Vietnamese fare, and family owned. The ambiance is quiet and simple, and today the service was exceptional. My wife likes to stay with her favourite dish (Vermicelli Bowl) and I like to try everything. Neither of us has been disappointed.

My wife and I arrived on a Tuesday evening without a reservation, the restaurant was full. The aromas upon entering reminded us of our time in Vietnam. We were promptly greeted by the staff and had a short wait for a table. We sampled cocktails from their comprehensive list, some quite unique names and mixes. The menu is not typical of the majority of Vietnamese restaurants that we visit and had some very interesting dishes. My wife had the vermicelli bowl, the most popular dish on the menu, presentation and flavours were wonderful. I had the Golden Char, which is smoked, deep fried chicken served with rice and vegetables. The chicken was perfect, crisp on the outside The staff were all great, we would definitely come back.

Ive been meaning to review this place. Absolutely amazing food, probably the best Vietnamese food ive had in a long time! I honestly cant say enough good about it, the flavour profile of every dish is exciting! Whoever is cooking up this food is an excellent chef who know their stuff! Thanks for bringing this amazing food to Campbell River! Parking: There is a parking lot but its bumpy and full most of the time, then again the building has been there for a while. You can also park on the street too. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a little bit of a lip on the door that could be a bit challenging for some, if your front wheels are small but it is an old building and it is defiantly accessible. I was able to get by power wheelchair through there no problem.

This is one of the best restaurants in Campbell River. We ve been here a bunch with reservations (which is suggested because it s busy!!), but tonight was the first night we didn t reserve but ended up at the bar. We had the best time with Blake the bartender! I might actually prefer the bar to the table! But whatever you re into, come check this place out, the food and drinks are amazing

Best Vietnamese food

So many Vietnamese restaurants and they are all very similar. This one is different better!! Loved it!! When I go through Campbell River I will be eating here everytime. Loved the food and everyone was so nice, you can tell they are passionate about the food.

Neighboorhood was sketch. Had to wait to sit. They seemed like they needed more hands, service suffered. Food is average.

It has been a long time since I had eaten here. I stopped in to order salad rolls. They were delicious, and not super expensive, but there were no veggies other than lettuce in the wrap. I would love to see some slivers of carrots and cucumber or bean sprouts mixed inside of the wrap.

Hubby and I just returned from an absolutely delicious lunch at this lovely little gem! I cant say enough about how wonderful it was so Ill just leave it up to you readers to try it for yourselves....you wont be disappointed! Uninviting restaurant. Was greeted with a long stare/glare from the waiter, when we were not greeted we asked if we can sit anywhere which his response was a very stern no at that point we just walked out and went down the road to Pho 54 where we were greeted extremely pleasantly had a delicious meal with amazing service and better price. We will only be going to Pho 54 from now on. Pho 54 also has great hours as Nhau seems to always be closed.

The best Vietnamese food we have had outside of Vietnam (and better than lots we had there). Fantastic vegetarian options - the skewers, salad rolls and vegetarian vermicelli bowl were to die for. Without a doubt the best vietnamese food in town. The bun bo hue is delicious.

I could eat the green papaya salad with prawns every day, for the rest of my life. It was delicious! Definitely reminiscent of Som Tum in Thailand but something about the dressing and the marinade on the prawns makes it even better.

Would not recommend. Service was lackluster at best. Didnt bring out drinks until i had to remind him that we didnt get the drinks we ordered, spilt soup on us and our table and grease stained my clothes as a result. The reason he spilt the soup, was because he didnt clear plates before bringing mains, just over filled the table and had no where the put the mains. The appies were good but the beef dip is not what youd expect, it came on some very underwhelming bread. Definitely should have gotten a noodle bowl instead.

I ve travelled to Vietnam four times and love Vietnamese food. The food at Nhau was absolutely phenomenal and I can say without a doubt it was the best Vietnamese food I ve had in Canada. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavourful. The service was amazing and friendly. The dishes were all beautifully crafted and presented. I especially appreciated that they not only had vegetarian options, but that they were thoughtfully made and incredibly tasty! I loved the Ban Chay, a veggie noodle bowl with tofu and veggie spring rolls. Yum. We will definitely be back. Vegetarian options: Many dishes had vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: Our kids enjoyed some plain rice and were very happy. The restaurant had some high chairs available.

It was just ok. Good service but the food was average by our standards.

Sad to write this review as the other times I ve been I ve enjoyed this place. Their curry and pho were solid (3.5/5). But today I got the Saigon Bahn Mi and wow was that a mistake. Flavour inside the sandwich was solid, but the bread, oh the bread was absolutely horrific. It was probably the most stale bread I ve ever been served at a restaurant. I got take out, so I drove back and took it back it in just to be told that they crisp up their bread here and that s why it s hard. I ve worked in many kitchens, and I could without a doubt tell you that bread was sitting out for a day or two. It was not hard because it was toasted, it was hard because it was stale. Most of the bread was inedible. The bread was really hard to bite into. And once I took a bite into the sandwich it legitimately disintegrated. The bread turned into sawdust and coated my hands and food. It was so dry and unpleasant. The bread was so hard it felt like it was cutting my mouth. It s been about an hour and my mouth still hurts and my tongue feels raw from trying to eat the bread. Whatever you do, do not order the Bahn Mi.

Had the Com Tam Saigon - Golden Char with chicken; excellent flavour, on the bone. From the colour of the fat, I m guessing corn fed chicken. The plate looks huge! But overall, a very satisfying portion without feeling overwhelmed. Paired it with a Moscow Mule and finished with the Passion Fruit Panna Cotta. I would call ahead and reserve a table; seating is limited. Bartender was very entertaining!

I would love to give this spot a solid 4, as the overall flavor was great. However when you are serving rice noodles, be it vermicelli or rice sticks it it very disappointing to get a bowl of Pho with noodles so over cooked I didnt need chop sticks and ate everything with a spoon. Even more disappointing when I brought it to my servers attention and he didnt seem to concerned and proceeded instead to rip on another local spot down the road. Super unprofessional and going to find it hard to go back.

Between our group we had the beef vermicelli bowl & pork vermicelli bowl- both super delicious and refreshing! The golden char with pork- the flavour of the meat was amazing, definitely get again! Unfortunately the Bahn Mi wasn t anything to write home about. However, the cocktails were very good! Not too sweet, perfectly proportioned ingredients :) Service was great as well, everyone was super friendly and the waitress checked in frequently making sure we were doing ok and asked if anything was needed. Definitely recommend and will be back!

I ve kept hearing about this place from lots of different people so I decided I should take the drive. I am sooo impressed and glad I decided to give it a try. The curry is some of the best I have tasted. I spent some time in Vietnam so I was a little hesitant however they blew me away, I felt as if I was back in Vietnam. Well done team. I will definitely be back. Thank you for bringing these flavours to the island.

Bold interior including a bar. Great layout. Spring rolls are garlic forward on the flavoring. The Grilled Pork Bun was great. The fish sauce was great. Ill be back to try everything else on the menu as we want to try everything. Certainly, the best Ive had locally. Its a serious contender. Very flavorful foods. My go-to for Vietnamese food.

Very flavourful. Small seating. Make a reservation if you want after six pm as it gets very busy. So we ate very quickly and left. That should also tell you something about the services. Very fast, delicious food.

This is was my second time eating here with my Husband and both times the food has been amazing, as well as the delicious cocktails! The staff are so friendly and kind. We will be coming back again. It is so nice to find a place in town to get a wonderful cocktail!

I would have given this 5 stars a few months ago but the last 2 times I ve gone the vermicelli bowl has been sub par - over cooked gooey vermicelli both times. My wife s chicken mango salad was also sub par - very bland chicken. I was excited that we had some good food come to CR - finally - but now I would not take guests there. Is this going to be another case of coming out of the starting gate great then not caring about the quality control? Bummer.

Its one of my new favorites in CR!!! Went in on Wednesday, March 6th, for dinner and was impressed, especially by the bartender (maybe the owner or manager?). He was kind and thoughtful... the servers seemed new, but super lovely, too. The food tho(!!) was so good! We ordered far too much... wanting to try everything!! The leftovers were still delicious, too! I feel like someone else went off about their spring rollls... They were so yummy!!! I could have eaten the whole order myself.

I wish we could rate a place higher than five stars. We had an incredible lunch, and I really look forward to when we have time to go for a full dinner. This is the right way to eat! With tons of fresh vegetables and lots of choices for your protein. Highly recommend this place to anyone other than those who only eat meat and potatoes .

Been wanting to try out this restaurant since it opened. We were just 2 people and so we sat at the bar as the restaurant was full so I would definitely recommend reservations even for a party of 4. We went for a later dinner and I would imagine lunch service might have a quicker turn over. I have been to a few Vietnamese restaurants over the years on Vancouver Island and the mainland. My partner isnt super adventurous when it comes to different cuisines and ethnicities but will humor my love of food due to my own culinary background since graduating from culinary school way back in 1993. All that said , the menu was a perfect size and perfect amount of choices to explore. The smaller seating capacity I really think allows the dishes to be treated with the special attention each dish deserves and requires to keep the quality and special treatment they need to really stand out above other Vietnamese establishments I have tried over the years. Staff was busy but still attentive. The chicken wings stood out as the most flavorful and crispy little treats I have ever had in my WHOLE LIFE! I knew walking in it was either Pho or BÁNH MÌ CAY - Which I chose the sandwich and encouraged my partner to try another similar sandwich BÒ TÁI CHANH with braised meat and a broth to dip as he loves beef dips and he was amazed with his meal as well. Prices were amazing the bill that included a Budweiser for him came to like just over $40 before tip! Outstanding I will be back again and again! Only one little thing to note its lighting is very low and they have candles for atmosphere however the noise level mixed with the lack of lighting was a bit harder for myself who suffers from generalized anxiety disorder to find a seat that I felt all my senses were able to just come to a place of where I could totally relax and enjoy myself . Try it out its incredible

Genuine, delicious vietnamese food and friendly, knowledgeable servers made our lunch experience yesterday a real treat! Two of us shared an order of the vegetarian spring rolls, the papaya salad, and Bo Luc Lac and it was the perfect amount for lunch. Our table by the window was chilly on a cold winter day, but well put on an extra layer next time and order a big bowl of Pho to warm up! We plan to become regulars. Vegetarian options: The menu lists quite a few gluten free and vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: We noticed that the couple dining at the table next to us asked for several dietary accommodations (i.e. no onions, no cilantro), and they were cheerfully granted. Parking: Be sure to remove any valuables and lock your car as this can be a bit of a dicey area, especially at night. Not scary, but you need to use common sense and be aware of your surroundings.

If you ever find yourself in Campbell River, dont miss the best Vietnamese restaurant in town! My orders were served quickly, and every dish looked authentic, beautifully presented, and was absolutely delicious. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try. Was just there for lunch with my mom. It was getting quite busy, however the server was attentive and managed to attend to everyone in a timely matter. He did a great job! As did the other server who started shortly after we arrived. The food was fresh and delicious. The Pho broth was so tasty! We will definitely be back.

Very excited to finally have a proper Vietnamese restaurant in Campbell River. And its not just any run-of-the-mill Viet food either - they have many of the classic dishes I had while travelling there that I crave but can never find on the north island (banh xeo, bun bo hue, Viet spring roll). The food was amazing, beautifully presented, and affordable. We had the spring rolls and papaya salad with grilled prawns to share. The spring rolls were perfectly cooked and actually made with rice paper instead of a wheat wrapper. The salad was fresh, crunch, flavourful, and had 3 huge prawns which had a beautiful smoky flavour and notes of lemongrass and garlic. For our mains, my wife ordered com tam (broken rice) - known on the menu as golden char. The portion was massive and provided lunch for today. It had all the classic components except for the fried egg/steamed omelette. I had the pho bo (beef pho). The broth was rich, and had beautiful flavours of charred ginger and onion, anise, and cinnamon without being overpowering. The noodles were legit flat pho noodles and the amount of meat was very generous. I love the northern style presentation with tons of herbs and onions in the soup. The service was decent, but they definitely have some work to do. They are brand new of course, so we gave them extra patience. The servers can definitely work on being more attentive to guests (making sure menus are brought right away, orders are taken, and dirty dishes are cleared without having to ask about each plate and utensil). Overall, this was an amazing experience and I am so happy they are in town. All the best to Mike and team! Vegetarian options: They have multiple.

Amazing flavourful food!! A couple of very minor hiccups to work through, but totally forgivable for a new restaurant. Open for less than a week and the place was already packed. Make a reservation, its worth it!

Let me start off by saying I am not a person who leaves negative reviews typically. The food here was unbelievably disappointing. The pho broth was tasteless, had no depth of flavour and could have been swapped out for carton chicken broth and no one would know. No herbs, no lime, and barely any bean sprouts. There was a decent amount of meat. The vermicelli bowl had no flavour either. It was just plain noodles with vegetables, no nuoc cham or anything. The spring rolls were overcooked and very tough, and the spring roll wrapping lacked the proper delicate texture. The dipping sauce was good. Overall, it tasted like convenience store Vietnamese food for a rather expensive price. Extremely disappointing.

Very impressed! We tried a selection of things and all were fantastic. The beef stew was different- very flavourful! They ve created a lovely atmosphere but I had a hard time getting over the server with a hoodie around her waist and far too casual demeanour. Moving here from the mainland I really missed bahn mi and pho soup which used to be a weekly staple in my house. Glad to find Nhau, and Im pretty sure the grilled pork bahn mi was better than any I had on the mainland. Great portions as well. Well be back.

Finally, authentic Vietnamese cuisine! Will be back.

Highly recommend! This restaurant opened in early November and its worth a trip. I had a delicious vegetarian pho. Ive had many pho in my life, and this was one of the best! Try their cocktails too - they have a whole set up and the bartender makes his own bitters.

Honestly the best Vietnamese food we have ate at between Victoria and Campbell River! Have waited a long time for a decent restaurant to open here! And wow have these guys/gals done it! The food, service and atmosphere is all top notch! Way to raise the bar for Campbell River. We ordered multiple dishes and appetizers and all were very impressive. Very good quality - great presentation too. Thanks for coming to Campbell River. You have gained a regular customer from us. And the service was superb. Friendly, attentive and accommodating. Very much appreciate a menu that is also good for various dietary needs. Thank you!

Golden char - wow. WOW. That is the best chicken Ive had in a while. Accompanying salad and sauce are lovely. Get this dish. Service - a smidge slow, but theyre getting started and people need time to get a groove. Picky detail - a mini ladle for people sharing pho is something Ive seen at other restaurants that would be worthwhile to add in to the service - for sake of flooded table and tasty broth spillage prevention. Seriously, get the Golden char with chicken. You need this in your life.

Great vegan meal with the Elysian bowl. Simple and tasty. Certainly recommended.

Delicious food

Finally!! A good Vietnamese restrant in campbell river!! Food was amazing service was great, most of all traditional spring rolls . The only suggestion is that it would be nice to have the condiments on the table. Im extremely pleased with this new restrant.

Went for the first time and loved it! The food was delicious, tasted fresh with many different flavors. Definitely the quality and type of food we need more of in Campbell River. The service was a bit slow and we had to ask for a few things such as cutlery but all the staff were very friendly and seemed to be doing their best on a busy night. Will definitely be back!
