I had the grilled salmon at Anchor, and while it was a bit expensive, the portion size was perfect for one person. The staff were kind, the food was delicious, and the scenery was beautiful. Overall, a good experience!
This place may look dated from the outside but the inside looks new and inviting. The menu looks somewhat basic but the food is really good. I had the salmon dinner. It was comforting and delicious. Great service and beautiful view as well. Would go back next time we come to visit.
Pretty bad. Read reviews and as 70/30 toward positive to be fair gave it a try. As a Chef I have average to high expectations based on reviews. Entered restaurant, not many patrons... hmmmm...ordered Pork Belly rice bowl, got it, didn't look appetising, tasted it, even worse, do not recommend, to be far through when I complained I wasn't charged for the meal, chef needs to re set his/her enthusiasm levels for the job. Go to the nearest pub instead...
Went in for breakfast before checking out, first impression - bright with beautiful views. the restaurant was empty with a few dirty tables. there was one waitress on. She acknowledged us and said seat yourself, so we sat down and enjoyed the view of the ocean another table walked in and sat down, several minutes later the waitress brought menus and coffee to the table that came in after us. She then brought us paper menus (stained with coffee and food prints) I was offered coffee but turned it down, she walked away without offering alternative beverages, when she came back for our food order I was able to order beverages unfortunately served in dirty glassware, the breakfast was very plain.
Fantastic place to cook your catch! We caught a coho in the morning, dropped it off around noon, and had an amazing meal that night. They filleted the fish, prepared it with a maple glaze and served it with roasted vegetables, roasted potatoes, and Caesar salad. If you catch something and want it prepared by a local restaurant I highly recommend the Anchor Inn.
I'm not sure how this place has a low rating. Stunning views and a wonderful 3 course Easter dinner tonight. The dinner came with this salad with mixed toppings and blackberry. It was different from your typical house salad and good. The ham dinner was wonderful with mash (root vegetables) and a side of mixed vegetables, roasted I believe. The ham came with a light dijon mustard sauce and paired well with the ham. I only took a bite of the cake as I was stuffed from the main course. It was very delicious and I took the rest of the cake home.
I took my Mom on her first getaway in Campbell River & our package included a dining gift certificate to Anchor Waterfront Restaurant. We reserved for early dinner & had a great table with amazing views. Tables are set very far apart & the restaurant had high ceilings & was well ventilated. We had great, friendly customer service. Our food & drinks arrived fairly promptly. They serve wild salmon & we enjoyed that entree with their scallops appetizer. I'd dine here again.
Not recommended...the appetizer included a hair on me and a fly (!) on my friend in the food itself (See photo) in addition to the actual dish. We told the waitress about it. When the bill came, however, the salad was still on it with the full price. Only when we had mentioned the fly again the salad was deleted from the bill...Service looks different!!! The main course was ok but also not worth mentioning...2 stars there for the view. Go rather eat somewhere else.
Waited quite a while before a server came to ask us what we wanted to drink, waited over an hour for our meal, the food was cold and generic. Over all, the service sucked, the food was lackluster and the service was pretty blah.
this place has sure gone down hill.. The food use to be amazing, not anymore! Out of 5 dinners last night only 2 was eaten! I had seafood linguine and it tasted like Ragu and the seafood was way over cooked..Breakfast was a joke and now I have a upset tummy..not impressed
Extremely helpful and kind staff. There was a mistake on our order but they were absolutely lovely and helpful in rectifying it. Lovely views as well.
Guys! We were absolutely blown away by how delicious our meals were. Since this restaurant has been re-imagined it has undergone amazing changes and it took us by surprise how good the food is. It was VERY busy so our service was a bit slow ( all of the servers are incredibly sweet and moving fast) but we were in no hurry so it didn t bother us too much. The decor has finally moved out of the 90 s but it was still stuck in our minds and we didn t FEEL like we were in a new restaurant . Until our meals were served . That was a game changer! We will go back, lots! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Really impressed with the food here under their new chef, they have definitely stepped up their culinary game! Highly recommend.
Nice staff, food wasnt too bad. Definitely will be back for drinks on the patio.
Tried to come for appys on the deck. I messaged before to confirm it would be open and we where told it would be. When we arrived we found out it was closed for a private function. So we thought we would try the dining room. The view was awesome, service mediocre for the pricing on the menu, we had a drink and an appy and went elsewhere.
Sat on the patio for an early lunch Saturday morning and cannot get over how lovely it was! The view was incredible, service was wonderful (thanks Shara!), I couldnt believe we were the only people there. Im afraid some bad reviews are maybe deterring people so Im here to tell you not to listen to them! It is an outdoor kitchen so options are limited but I had the beef dip with caesar salad and it was a 10 for me! Had a caesar as well, the dill caesar with dill infused vodka was super tasty. Definitely check this place out if you get the chance!
Delicious chicken wings and local lager. Staff were lovely and friendly and the views cannot be beaten !
What a fantastic meal! How had we not known about this gem? The atmosphere is inviting , modern, and quiet. Pasta was amazing and the chocolate mousse was divine! Service was 5 stars. Thank you all for a lovely evening!
Not really recommended. Sticky fries, dry steak, worst salmon ever. Ribs good, chicken good. Service also extremely confusing. You feel like youre about to be kicked out of the restaurant even though you havent even finished your drinks.
Great place to eat with a great view!
Slowest service ever. Scallops were dry and tasteless. Obviously not locally sourced as fresh ones were being sold that day at the wharf.
The restaurant was nice with a great view, but the food was not pleasing. I ordered the Seafood Linguine and the sauce was very bland and boring; my 9 yr old ordered the kids hamburger, took one bite and didnt want anymore, I have never seen him not eat a burger before so I tried it and wouldnt have eaten it either. This would be a great restaurant if the food was edible.
Picked this place because of the view and amount of seafood on their menu. I can honestly say that what I ate probably wasn t sea food. Everything tasted like rubber, had very little flavour, and most was inedible. I would recommend going somewhere else.
Nice find. We went for the $5 Happy Hour (4 to 5:30), had appetizers then decided to stay for dinner. Prices were good, appetizers and dinner were beautifully presented and delicious and the service was excellent. The place was quiet when we first got there but quite busy when we left at 9:30. We never felt rushed to leave and enjoyed the view and watching the cruiseships go by. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Gorgeous view Friendly and efficient service Disappointing seafood linguini (some of the shellfish was well cooked while others seemed reheated from the day before, and noodles were drowned in a bland sauce) Parking: Free parking but lots of stairs
We stayed at the Inn and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the restaurant! The staff, view, and food blew us away. Dined there most of the nights we stayed and tried many of their dishes. Moroccan Chicken was my favorite, just unreal flavor (it pleased my foodie soul) and the Seafood chowder did not skimp on the seafood! Delicious all around, you can tell that they take pride in their menu. Dont be in a hurry and take your time here, you wont regret it. We even saw Dolphins twice from the stunning panorama windows. 9.5/10
The good: This place is kept in pretty good shape for its age. The breakfast is a full breakfast. Hot tub and pool are fun. Staff are very kind and accommodating. The bad: All the things that keep the door from slamming (the hydraulic thing on the top) need replacing. From 530am-830am was the worst as we heard every guest leave with a slam of their door. Also, the doors are not sealed properly (see picture) so you can hear every conversation and foot step.
Flavorless food. Huge disappointment.
Went for dinner and everyone of the meals were excellent. Check it out. Seafood linguine was excellent. Tangiers chicken was awesome.
