UPDATE: Since the last review new ownership has taken over. Resulting in our family receiving several bad dishes on different visits; many cheaper options have made a huge difference in taste. We have stopped going to Hagars Cafe/ Days Inn completely hence change in stars. 5 STARS every time we ve ate there & that frequency has increasedf for all the best reasons. Food all made from scratch, fresh & tasting fabulous; prices you wouldnt see at a franchise or big city restaurant. I do believe this is Camrose s diamond in the rough for food. Minus a star for the rough part as the building is aging. Beautiful smiling servers & cooks every time. Im so glad we moved here. Did I mention the food? Well Im mentioning it again you cant go wrong!

I had eggs benny and my hubby had sausages, eggs and pancakes. It was a very good breakfast and the nicest young gal waited on our table.

Waitresses here are the best I have encountered awesome variety food and never had a bad meal.

I love eating at Hagars. We are from Forestburg and take supper home with us when we come over to Camrose! We have ordered the roast beef dinner several times and it is awesome. We got the dinner, a side salad and bun! Well, that was until the last time we ordered! We were told then, we no longer get a side salad or a bun! Your on line menu does not reflect these changes!! Today, I ordered 3 roast beef dinners to go, of course there was no side salad or bun, but there was only half the meat that is usually with this meal! I thought maybe they had given me senior meals but no, I paid for 3 full dinners! If you are going to cut down on the amount of food I get on a take out order, the price should reflect that,

Special on Friday night ..Prime rib and Yorkshire pudding.. . Yum The salad bar had a fabulous soup..bean veggie pasta . Super tasty.. Parking: When their lot is full just park at the mall.. its one row over from their parking Wheelchair accessibility: Doors slide sideways...wide entrance. And tables for easy seating

They had a very tasty buffet lunch, sirloin tip pot roast, pork chops, mashed potatoes, huge salad bar, hot tapioca pudding dessert. The menu had a huge selection. I will definitely come back when I am in Camrose and next time I will stay at the Norsemen hotel which is attached to this restaurant.

Waitress was alright, she did maks me slightly uncomfortable however. She messed my order up, ordered mashed potatoes, I got fries. The carrots and string green beans tasted old, carrots were overcooked, beans were undercooked and harder than stale old potato chips. Toast was barely toasted. Hash browns were over cooked. Both hashbrowns and chicken strips tasted as if they were cooked in old oil. The chicken strips had a nice crunch but other than that were kind of gross. How do you mess chicken strips and hash browns up? Witnessed the cook thin out the tapioca pudding with hot water they use for tea so Id imagine it would have been awfully bland. When I went to pay the girl at the register was getting snippy with an elderly gentleman, insisting he use tap instead of inserting his card even though it wasnt processing his tap. Told them to let him use his card how he chooses and was met with extreme snarkiness. The girl needs an attitude adjustment. The poor excuse for a supervisor came, she was beyond rude and unprofessional. I began to tell them the food wasnt good and what was wrong with it. I was met with an oh well from entitled karen of a supervisor. The girl didnt want to give me the receipt I had asked for (I like to keep reciepts), she then threw it on the counter. I dont go here often because the service is often hit or miss; you will get the best service from the extremely nice and pleasant Philipinos, but mediocre from the rest of the staff. They should take a lesson from the curiosity, politeness, professionalism, and welcoming demeanors from the lovely Philipinos. Wont be back again for a very long time.

Not often do I give a full 5 stars, but the staff is wonderful, the ordered food and they have a awesome Food Bar with different types of meals. Super kind people, the atmosphere is so friendly and feels nice.

I am from Edmonton and was in town for work for a few days, never been here before, but my goodness its my absolute favourite restaurant in all of Alberta now! The flapjacks and peppercorn pasta are incredibly delicious and very well priced. It feels very homely and welcoming there too. Highly recommend. I wish there was a place like this in Edmonton, I would go every weekend!

Food was great, it always is. Servers were more than kind. The only reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 this time, (I did have it at 5 from a previous visit) is because it took almost 30 minutes from the time we were seated until we actually got a menu, and we didnt even get enough menus. The soup and salad bar was not as good as I remember.

We ve ordered French toast , 2 eggs with ham , and French toast 2 eggs with sausages. It was bad quality sausages, you thought you will get farmer sausage but it was bad bad one, it was processed fatty one also the ham is the processed ham , not the real ham ! Coffee was tasteless. We were so disappointed. However, the service was great! Just cheap quality food. Well if you want to take a person you don t like for date ! That will be the place !! I felt sorry for the cook , they only can get what the purchaser provide , I guess they got no say !! Highly recommend you NOT to go back with your love own. may be just go to McDonald next door.

Very nice buffet-style lunch, very good food selection, great soups! Really enjoyed the fact there was plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables to choose from in addition to the salads, main meal choices, and dessert cart. Excellent value for price. And friendly staff too!

Unfortunately, Ive had no luck with this place. Often there due to work. Ive had a dead bug in my salad, tasteless pies(they used to be great before), and very bland food. Their steak sandwich in the bar is good in least. Some staff are not very nice.

Dinner for 4, three meals were okay, mine was not, had the pasta ..awful only ate a quarter of it.

Ordered a burger it was literally black and tasted burnt. My brother irdered the lasagne and it was ok at best. Service was extremely slow and our waitress was very rude. Didnt even come by at all to ask how food was, asked for parmesan and chilis and never seen her again. Really snarky and just angry. I ended up covering the burger in ketchup just to get the burnt taste away somewhat. We were extremely hungry after working all day, but it took forever to order/ get our food so we ate fast just to get out of there! never again will I come back to this place. Id reccomend the mcdonalds over this place any day.

I m sure I got food poisoning from eating in the lounge on July 10. The Management or Owners need to take a closer look at what s going on in the kitchen. I am writing this so it will be looked into and to warn other people. I was incredibly sick for an entire day and never experienced food poisoning before until now. I don t want anyone else to go through what I did. I will never eat there again.

The food has stayed consistent through the many many moons Ive been eating here i moved to camrose when I was 16 im 43 now. The gravy flavor still the same liver same breakfast same and they still use real turkey, real roast beef not processed meat rolls. Good food but one terrible manager. This woman goes out of her way to harass us every time we just want prime rib. But because she has a pre conceived idea if service dogs or just Prejudice against my service animal because he is not what her small mind thinks it should be, we jump through all her hoops to try to go out and eat a nice meal not get harassed. The last time we ate she wouldnt leave us alone our entire meal we have all proper paper work, his support dog license, tags and working dog vest she has seen many times in past encounters with her but nope not good enough. Then aggressively started badgering us on how he should be acting but like I said the dog that keeps me alive didnt conform to her small minded idea what a work dog is and should/could be. Theres many dogs that dont guide the blind and are not large german shepherds there are endless breads of work dog, some are small. We quit eating there but not entirely we quit eating in the restaurant. But still do take out once in a blue moon we went from prime rib on week ends and maybe breakfast or dinner another day in week so 2 visits a week for many years and now cause of her one take out meal every 4 or 5 months. Sooooooo

Was not impressed !!! Was gonna have buffet today but they switched out the sirloin tip and put cheap meatballs . With the menu saying its sirloin tip. What a way to cheap out your customers At least the soup was good! Thus used to be a very good place to eat but quality has gone down .

The waitress was a lovely very polite young lady. Do Not Order the GRILLED SALMON STEAK they pan fry it and burnt the living day lights out of it. It was so dry that it tasted like cardboard.

Great place for lunch.

So, I hadnt been in the Norsemen restaurant for probably two decades. My wife and I were in the city early with some time to kill so decided to find a place to sit for breakfast. It was nice and quiet, just a few people in there. Service was fast and polite. The food was fantastic and the price was beyond right. I cant remember the last time I got 2 Eggs Benny and coffee for under 30$. There is a reason this place is still going strong after all this time.

Always pleasant staff and good food. Generous portions arrive at the table quickly. Nicely varied menu although not a lot of options for gluten free dinning. Buffet is currently closed due to COVID-19 but when open it is very good. Highly recommend, this restaurant is my go to when I am in Camrose.

Thanks for having us in! We had the BEST time! We also had an AMAZING breakfast and can t wait to come back! We ordered the cinnamon roll, a pancake, the burrito and also, the daily special: 2 biscuit sandwiches smothered in sausage gravy with hash browns. It was all so delicious! Lastly, watching the planes take off and land was a beautiful AM view! We will be back!

Burgers arent that good, not fresh but frozen meat . Baron of beef dip is served on a hot dog bun. Not worth the price we paid.

Good food at the best prices in town. This is coming from a university student so take it as you will, this place is affordable and the meals are good quality.

Not sure if its just what we got or if its common, but the veggies with the entree were ridiculously salty, I had the ribs and they were pretty tough and as well quite salty... I absolutely love salt over sweet things but this was overboard, salad soup bar was okay. Good service.

After being seated - we waited 10 mins and no one came back I had to go up to the register to ask for someone - they pointed out our waitress and it turns out our waitress for our section was avoiding us - she would look our way walk towards us and then veer off to anywhere but our table - we were the only ones in the corner section ....even after taking our order she returned moments after dropping off food but never came back - had to track her down to get the dessert that came with my daughters meal never asked if the adults wanted desert or anything else, Went to pay for the meal and the Cashier was abrupt, short to me and the people in front of me . Food was good overall service rated very poor to almost rude

Roast beef was wonderful as well as the baked potato. Would ask for another vegetable because I cant eat corn.

Went for the buffet for Thanksgiving. Fairly small selection, decent quality but not great, but a very good price (21 dollars with a drink included). I dont live in Camrose but Id go again as they change their buffet themes regularly. Also the small selection combined with how busy it is makes it fairly crowded, especially at the buffet table.

Great place for breakfast with average prices

I have never been here so I decided to try. It was remarkable. From the moment I walked in I was happy, it took 10 minutes from walking in the door to having my food on the table. Amazing food, amazing service, all for a reasonable/lower price. I was checked on, coffee topped up, and even conversed with as I was by myself. My waitress made it feel like I wasn t alone! Highly recommend going here!

Low quality food and not the best service. The host came and changed the special menu that is on everyones tables in the top of the creamer stand. Now the only reason it bothered me was we had just started eating our breakfast and she asked me to pass it to her. Next she swaps it right out on the edge of our table. This took her what seamed like an hour (probably only 2mins lol) as she had trouble getting the old one to slide out, then asked me to return it to the back of the table. Akward to say the least! I couldnt imagine why you would not change them between seatings? Anyways I have been here many times over the last 14 years. Probably the last time.

Located in the norsemen inn. There is no signage from the road. Have to go around back. But once you ve found it the service is fast, staff is friendly and food was good and hot. Will be a go to the next time we re passing through.
