St. Thomas, 5150 Dronningens Gade Suite 7, Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas 00802, U.S. Virgin Islands
The food was excellent. Tables are closed together, and the waitress has long braids that when she turns around, hits my arm and even goes on our table! Never once asked if we wanted anything else to drink. Went to the bathroom, and they are making dressing. All in the way, I couldn't even get back to the table, when I did bumped into a lady sitting down just too many tables in a small area. There is no parking you have to walk so get a taxi if it is night time.
A bartender at Taphus recommended this restaurant as an excellent choice for a later dinner, as many places tend to close early on weekdays. We were fortunate to be accommodated without a reservation, though reservations are strongly advised. The cuisine was outstanding, albeit on the pricier side. The atmosphere was intimate and inviting, filled with guests who clearly had enjoyed the restaurant on prior visits to St. Thomas. The setting created a warm, celebratory vibe, perfect for family gatherings or special occasions. Service was relaxed, and the food arrived at a leisurely pace, so it’s wise to allow ample time for your meal. But with the beautiful Caribbean surroundings, there’s no need to rush. On our next visit to St. Thomas, we’ll be sure to return—and make a reservation this time!
We came from Europe in September. The atmosphere was really nice, and the restaurant's interior is just perfect! However, when the food arrived, we were completely disappointed. I had the seafood pizza, and it was very disappointing. The pizza dough tasted like it was bought frozen, as did the fish. I believe you can find better pizza anywhere else, especially for this price. The server recommended the house lasagna, but it also wasn't great—very small portion. The staff was okay, but a bit too pushy when trying to sell more items. Overall, while the ambiance was lovely, the food quality did not match our expectations.
Our First Day Visiting St Thomas, was looking for a Cozy Restaurant, look this one up, and was impressed, food quality and atmosphere was great.
We were sent here on the recommendation from a bartender and I am so glad we listened. This place is amazing. From the attentive staff, to the fresh food, the art pieces and table side bananas foster. It was all perfect. Yes, it’s pricey but you get what you pay for and it was worth every penny. The restaurant was filled with large parties but we never felt neglected because there was only two of us. The food was to die for. We started with the table side Cesar salad, hands down best I have ever had. We will definitely be eating here again when we return to the island.
Virgilios is our go-to for Italian on the island. Great food and a good selection of wine, beer, and mixed drinks. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. We brought our twins here for their birthday and finished our meal with bananas foster, and everyone loved it.
This place is amazing! The decor is very intimate and romantic, the stuff very professional and friendly. The food amazing. They prepare the Caesar salad in front of you, all fresh ingredients. Soup del mare, lasagna, carbonara, and tiramisu are our favorites….but honestly everything is good from the menu. Nice selections of wine, nice cocktails also. This place is one what doesn’t need to be missed from the Island. I do recommend it!
We stumbled upon this restaurant whil craving Italian food. If you have a large party, better to make reservations before hand. The ambiance of this restaurant is one that is filled with art work all around. The fresh garlic bread was amazing. We orders two vegetarian pastas - both were packed with so much flavor & taste. Lava cake for dessert was the perfect way to end the meal! I would definitely recommend this place when on the island!
The food was so good I ate it all! I got atmosphere, beautiful art and great food in this one space. I encourage everyone to check this restaurant out.
Fantastic food. Maybe the best chicken fettuccine alfredo weve eaten. Although, we did see a naked rasta walking down the street in front of the restaurant, mumbling about God knows what. No joke.
I ordered the pizza and it was terrible. The crust tasted like store bought prebaked crust, certainly it wasnt freshly baked. And it was quite tasteless overall. Really disappointing, I dont get all the hype.
The food is fresh. The staff is attentive. The decor reminds you of artists you remember and those you want to.
Spectacula place, and really good food, the service was exceptional, Dario and the dominican girl where helpings us and the servece they provided was espectacular, the food was the delicious and the Atmosphere in the restaurant was vibrant with all the paitings and decoration. Thank you all to treat us good and the service.
We did the usual when visiting an Italian restaurant... Lasagna and Chicken Parmigiano. They were both delicious! The restaurant is filled with beautiful art but is on the small side yet comfortable! Our service was exceptional as we will return when on the island!
We loved Virgilio s! I think it may be the best restaurant in Charlotte Amalie. It s certainly the only one on the island which is fairly priced. Their menu claims they ll make anything you ask for. It s true! My girlfriend asked them to make chicken piccata and they did. Good drink selection, good portion size, excellent service. And they re one of the few restaurants that is open until 10. For the love of all things holy, please do not change your hours. We enjoyed it so much that we went there three times during our weeklong stay.
We went shopping at Beverly s jewelry and then over to Virgilio s for dinner. It was fantastic! Excellent wine selection and great service!
Nice place. Great ambience, food was delicious and service was kind and attentive. My husband and I had a great experience at Virgilio s. The server and Dario made us feel very welcomed.
Absurd.Way over priced.Ordered chicken parm it was about 4 square and no joke 1/4 thick sopped with cheese n sauce.Got a pizza in which I m 99% sure the dough was frozen. No flavor garbage.Ex wife got shrimp scampi with about 6 shrimp for $40.No booze bill was 155$ with the cc fee..unbelievable.
We never miss a visit when we are in St Thomas!
Let me first start by saying I ve been here before and I had a great experience, this time not so much. My family and I had 7:30 reservations. We showed up at 7:25 and were told our table would be ready shortly. After standing around for 10 mins in everyone s way by the front door we were told to come to the bar for a drink which I assumed would be a complimentary drink for our inconvenience. It was not. We were told there was a large ground of 24 coming and we had to wait for other tables to open up before we got seated even though the other reservation for the table of 24 wasn t until 8:30. My family then proceeded to stand around for 25 more minutes at the bar where there are no seats and stared at empty tables for people coming in 30 mins. We were repeatedly told they were sorry but they had a big reservation coming in like that was supposed make me and my family feel better to be about kept waiting 35 past my reservation. We were handed menus to look over so we knew what we wanted before we sat down making me feel like they were rushing us. It s a strange feeling STANDING in a restaurant looking through a menu while everyone else is seated and eating. We were never compensated for our inconvenience. Not a drink bought by the restaurant not an appetizer or dessert comped as a small sign of appreciation for inconveniencing my family for our dinner. Food was delicious as usual the customer service and attention to reservations not so much. As far as the atmosphere the decor is fantastic I just don t like them blasting Stevie wonder happy birthday song in the middle of dinner. There were 4 birthdays during our dinner and an anniversary. Imagine trying to have a conversation as Stevie Wonder gets blasted repeatedly followed up by kool and the gangs celebration. A small happy birthday being sung by staff no problem blasting Stevie wonder for the whole restaurant to have to cease conversations is not what I had in mind. This is nice restaurant with delicious food not a karaoke bar.
The food was amazing!
The pizza was absolutely terrible. It definitely was not worth $25. I swear on everything I love I have had better pizza at a Chinese buffet. It was the furthest from authentic Italian pizza. Completely unhappy dining there and spending $120 for dinner. Terrible experience
Such a beautiful place inside but the meal was absolutely awful.
Virgilios consistently provides high quality meals and the friendly staff is attentive.
Service, food, and drinks never disappoint. I suggest starting with the caesar salad made at your table.
The food was phenomenal, the service was great, and the atmosphere was interesting. The only downside was that they had no power due to an impending tropical storm! Food
Best Italian food I ve ever had, service was fine, forgot my drink while everyone else got theirs. Atmosphere was amazing for me, but there were some images that may be inappropriate for others. Kid-friendliness: SOME Images on wall not kid-friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible
Great upscale Italian option in St. Thomas.
Best atmosphere best food
We have been in STT for a couple of weeks and several people recommended Virgilios. I dont know why. It was not a good experience. We went on a Wednesay at 7 pm and it was packed which is generally a good sign but not in rhis case. We finally got a tiny table but waited nearly two hours for out entrees which is not good. We ordered the Ceasear salad for two which was mostly fine but like most things still overpriced on the island. It still took forever to get our entrees. I ordered the chicken cacciatore which was basically chicken tenders and canned tomatoes. Seriously. I kept watching the table of 8 next to me waiting for their food. They were seated before us so not sure how much longer they were there but their meals came out after ours. I felt sorry for them. They brought out a heated frozen pizza for for one of the kids. If that is their pizza, stay away. They then brought out a salad for another and they sat there looking at their food waiting for the rest of the meals so they could eat together properly. I would he so annoyed. Overall, this place is so over rated and priced and would never go back. So many better places in STT.
Amazing food and service! Highly recommend
Rude rude rude. Person on the phone was rude, rude servers. Terrible absolutely worst on the island. Skip this place!!!
Service was quick and professional. The tiny restaurant is full of charm. The food was delicious!!!
First, I am SO GLAD to hear that I am not the only person that did not have a good dining experience at Virgilio s (look at the other lower rated reviews). Virgilio s was recommended to me by hotel staff and locals. Before looking at the menu online, I had a feeling that the food would be at an astronomical price and it was! When I arrived, I was seated immediately by an older gentleman. Then, it took about ten minutes for someone to take my order (I didn t know if the older gentleman was my waiter or not). A lady ended up being my waitress and she was not pleasant nor very attentive. It seemed to me that because I was not ordering copious amounts of wine and dishes, she was not going to provide the best service to me which is unfair. She walked past my table several times to serve other guests and check on them, but would not do the same for me. Then, when I received my meal, it was definitely not worth the $30+ I paid. I understand that the food is freshly made, but I don t think that a pasta dish with cream sauce and four long pieces of broccoli is worth $30+. It didn t even come with a salad or a protein! The cream sauce was pretty good, though. I will say this Virgilio s is a beautiful and unique restaurant (I loved the artwork), but it was very overpriced and they need to work on customer service.
We went here for an early dinner around 4pm. We were the only diners when we arrived. The waiter was prompt. The ambiance was so soothing. And the food was perfect.
This place is phenomenal! We had some of the best service I ve had in a long time, the ambience is lovely, and the food was outstanding. The walls are literally covered in funky artwork, which was really fun. They do a tableside salad service - the Caesar was incredible. The pastas are made in house and all the food that our group of four had was outstanding. The osso buco was the best I ve ever had. The bartenders know what they re doing when they mix a martini. We finished the meal off with tableside bananas foster - literally flambé on a propane burner at your table. It was one of the best desserts I ve had in a long time. It was definitely a full house, so reservations are a good idea. This has become a must visit for future St. Thomas vacations.
Hands down one of the best dinners we ve had on our visit to St. Thomas. Staff and food, chefs kiss. Don t forget to get the banana foster.
The service staff paid attention to us notice. Sat us in the corner and we saw them two time: to order and to get our food by a different server and we had to ask another server to get us a check. Prices are very high.
The best food on the island! The staff was incredible and everyone working in the restaurant took care of us. Highly recommend and will be back every visit to the island. Order the ceasar and banana fosters to watch the presentation. Lola made the experience even better!
The food was ok but for a French person the pizza was not better than a frozen pizza from France, the atmosphere is too dark people need to use their phone lamp to see the menu. And the service takes some time
Fantastic everything. Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. Im very glad we chose to eat here!
Great food, great service.
Entire staff is magnificent, had a rough day at the airport. And they simply made it better. Thanks guys needed that!
Great experience!
Great pizza!!!
Vegetarian options: At least 4 Vegan options. I had the blackened tofu spicy with pasta and vegetables in marinara sauce. Delicious Food : 5/5 |
If there was a 0 star rating that s what I would give. I dined in here with my boyfriend the first night of vacation on 3/14. We made reservations arrived on time and were seated after a half hour of waiting. First of all, Our waitress told us we had to sit next to each other instead of across from each other so her table across from ours would have more room. I said okay that s fine and again waited 15-20 minutes for a FIJI water bottle when I ordered water- as all the other guests had their drinks poured for them out of a glass pitcher. I had to order our food from a busser or any time I needed something I had to call over an employee as our waitress never came to our table ONCE. That was until I got up and asked her to come over and bring our check and box our food. Not surprised to find a LONG BLACK HAIR in my leftovers she boxed up right on top. Spent over $100 to be ignored and have my food tampered with-don t waste your precious vacation time and money here.
My husband and I visited 3/21/24 while on vacation because it came highly recommended by the locals. Coming from an Italian when you know, you know the food was great. The service was even better. We had such a wonderful time talking to our lady server, the bartender, and owner. As I said then, I could have stayed all night talking to them. What a nice group! Thank you for giving us such an enjoyable evening. We are back home in Maine just in time for an ice storm and powerless. Wish we never left USVI!
Food melts in your mouth. Wonderful place Food
We did not have a reservation and the staff made a big deal out of it although they were not busy or booked up. The website does not indicate a need for a reservation. The main sever lady is rude and obnoxious. They also had the audacity to charge us 20% for service on our bill. Food was mediocre, clams were watery and the cheesecake was stale and bland. Visit other restaurants, the prices charged are not at all worth the experience.
We had a reservation for 7:30. Didnt get a table until past 8. The server didnt acknowledge us for a while and when he did, completely ignored one of the members of our party. The food was OK. NOT great italian for sure. The Cesar salad was delicious! I couldve had more than we were served. I had the lemon chicken and the other person in my party had lasagna. The meals lacked flavor and were just ok. The espresso martini was delicious and the atmosphere was awesome! Lots of great art work on the walls.
Shocked this place has 4.5 stars I ordered a Margherita pizza. They brought me a FROZEN PIZZA THEY POORLY HEATED WITH TOMATO SLICES ON IT. it literally had the holes on the back commercial pizzas have that you buy at the store. Their menu says everything is made fresh. The waiter admitted it was not always the case. Insane that an Italian restaurant would try to get away with this - actually sacrilegious prices are crazy inflated for sub-par food.
Overpriced food was eh and the service sucked
Hands down the best food Ive ever eaten in my life! Lola was our server and she was absolutely amazing!... new bff! The restaurant is very small and very quaint. Amazing artwork throughout. They make Caesar dressing and salad right at your table if order that. Great wine selection. A little pricey but 100% worth it for the food, service and atmosphere! Highly recommend! If you eat anywhere on the island... make sure to include this amazing restaurant! (I had the pasta carbonara, he had the sea bass) AMAZING!
Beautiful atmosphere and the food is to die for!
Surrounded by well curated local art, we enjoyed fabulous food and outstanding service. This place is a national treasure.
Small but very nice place. (with the amount of paintings hanging on the walls it looks like a mini-louvre! Food, wine and service all excellent. I tried a fish soup called the Neapolitan cioppino .it was delicious. I highly recommend.
Soup was really greasy
Don t get the caesar salad It s $40 for two plates of average salad that s mixed in front of you. Great pasta, but why is everyone here recommending you pay an extra $30 to watch them mix a salad for you?? Maybe they were just having a bad night, the portions were good, art is really nice and the pesto linguine is amazing - just upset about the salad
The food was excellent, however it took an hour to get our food. The server was very nice but we only saw her once. I had pasta and it was worth the wait. Ill go there again but wont come as hungry as I did.
Great tasting pizza. I had to use Cari app for delivery because they were short staff and made my amount increase but it was worth it.
I read all the reviews about the poor service and decided how bad can it really be? Had reservation at 6:15 including us just a couple other tables of people at the time. Service was horrible. We spent $400.00 on our meal celebrating an engagement, we were jovial and not in a hurry but it took 45 minutes to get a drink order (3 alcoholic drinks) party of 7, waiter was super disinterested and more worried about the table of 2 next to us complaining about their food. The atmosphere is cool and unique, we all enjoyed the food, but service left a really bad taste in our mouth. We did have a woman who was very cheerful and helping us as well, she however was not our server she was just running around helping everyone and was very pleasant. For the money we spent I wouldn t return. Rude as some of the comments said was basically spot on and they knew we were celebrating an occasion and it was just another day. I d go to Pesce if I had a do over.
Very cozy (read, youre probably going to meet the person at the table next to you) restaurant with wonderful art covering every wall. Food is excellent and served promptly. You will want to make a reservation. Our reservation was for 5:30 which hit before the rush. The broths, sauces, and soups were all expertly prepared and were rich and flavorful. We enjoyed appetizers, entrees and desserts and all were wonderful.
virgilios is an excellent place to eat and visit every time I go to St Thomas. Im glad its still in operation and hope it is for many years come... Make reservations before you attempt to go... updated Jan 2024-now open for lunch and even had a pick-up window! HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THE LUNCH MENU THAT HAS SANDWICHES IS FOR TOGO ONLY!! Parking: No dedicated on-site parking. You can drop off right in front, but will have to find parking elsewhere Kid-friendliness: Not generally kid friendly, I take my kid, but she is a well verses eater. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible at all.
Great restaurant in a great location, make a reservation please The food is very unique and delicious, the service is a little slow and need improvement Food
Loved the food, the staff, the atmosphere! Had my 50th birthday dinner there, so we had both a main course and dessert. For my birthday, they played a loud song on the speakers (Celebration by Kool and the Gang) and lit a firework as a candle in a champagne glass for my birthday. Limited parking, so walking there after parking in a lot is recommended.
Perfect romantic date spot. Had a wonderful Valentines day dinner here. Servers are super nice and friendly. The seabass was to die for and we also enjoyed the eggplant, pesto gnocchi, lobster bisque, and tiramisu. The tiramisu wasnt heavy or overly sweet, just perfect. Bartender made a great martini.
Absolute must! Great ambiance, service, location, and of course food! 10/10 best pasta we ve had. MUST visit if in the USVI. Thanks again for a great night all staff!
A GEM AND A MUST GO. First and foremost, the pizza is out of this world. The food, the ambience, the drinks...all, hands down the best on the island. Tight knit group of staff and ownership gives this restaurant / art gallery (impressive paintings from around the world) an air of fun and sophistication. The drinks are genuinely the best and the wine selection just as good -try their espresso martini. I cannot say enough good things about this hidden gem.
Terrific service in a lovely atmosphere with positively mediocre food priced to let me know I was in a tourist trap.
Excellent Italian restaurant located in downtown Charlotte Amalie. Although the restaurant is very small, the food and service were great. It is decorated with fantastic art work from locL artist. The house caesar salad for two is a must. We had the sea bass special and seafood linguini, which were very tasty.
So good!!! So so good!!! 10/5
Phenomenal Italian food. Great table side Caesar salad and banana flambe. Food
Honestly, in the week my family and I were on vacation, this was probably the best meal we had on the island. They accommodated our party of 12 by letting us move our reservation up an hour (tired kids ya know). Nobody left hungry. It was phenomenal. Wish we had a place like this back here in NW Iowa.
Food might be 5 Star, will never know? Had reservations waited for hour and half to see couples seated ahead of us with No Reservations? Save your time & money go across the road to Bistro!
Definitely call ahead for a reservation, theres a reason for it. Their seabass dish really knocks it out the park, as does everything Ive had on the menu. Great atmosphere and excellent service.
Visited in June 2023 during our summer vacation as we stumbled on this resturant by accident. We were early around 5pm and were lucky to get seated without a reservation as it got packed within the hour. The service was top notch and food was very good.
My family and I go to St. Thomas once a year, but this is a must stop for us. The food is always fantastic.
Coming from New Jersey, New York area the food is not worth the money. Lacks flavor and portion size! Service was terrible and unprofessional. The restaurant unfortunately was a huge disappointment. Save your money.
We came across this hidden gem during late lunch time while roaming the streets. Nice ambience and good service. Food is fresh and delicious. Soupe de mare (seafood soup) is amazing.
Was the food good? Yes. Was everything else amiss? yes. It was obvious that our reservation of 2 people was less attended to compared to the other tables being served. It took 40 minutes to receive a glass of wine . After getting recommendations and reading reviews we were expecting attentive service and received anything but. The plus side is the scallops were perfection and so was the crème brûlée. However, good food does not make up for lack luster service when you re forking out 200+ on two people.
Delicious!
Virgilio is a bustling Italian restaurant in the downtown part of St. Thomas situated on cobbler stones. The restaurants decor is full of classical painting and art. The ambience is very romantic and relaxing. Virgilio was one of the few restaurants that was open late when I visited St.Thomas. I ordered the vegetable lasagna and found it to be hearty but not too overwhelming. The only con was the food was a little slow to come and I did wait quite a while for the food to come. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options include vegetable lasagna, vegetable plate, eggplant parmigiana, and involtini di melazana.
Delicious food, they just give very little.
Super
My husband and I LOVED this meal! The sauce is 100% authentic and delicious. Highly recommend!
Wonderful Italian atmosphere, wine list, and menu. Delicious!
Wow. Food was amazing. Do yourself a favor and get the Caesar salad
Great food, Im vegan not much options, but the can make a good dish for you. At This place you have to call for reservation. Dietary restrictions: They can make vegan dish for you .
Authentic Italian food. The chicken parmesan was divine. No heavy breading just amazing flavor.
We really liked this restaurant. Food was excellent.
Our meals and service were spot on ! Some of the best food we have had while in St Thomas ! We will be back !
Had an excellent meal with friends in a great setting for conversation. The food and service were perfect. The customers were all enjoying their meals and conversation in peace and relative quiet. The artwork was fun to view and helped to provide a cozy & warm atmosphere. We will make sure to return on our next trip to St. Thomas.
Amazing food and such a pleasant setting. Service was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
The best Italian I ve eaten anywhere. Just amazing.
Wonderful atmosphere and even better food. The service was top notch as well. Worth a visit.
The entire waitstaff (especially Lola) were so polite, fun and energetic. Our meal was delish! The restaurant is lovely with and cozy. Ceasars salad, veal parm and bananas foster for dessert!
Great tiramisu! Friendly service, excellent food, and interesting artwork.
We visited Virgilios as part of a food tour in Charlotte Amalie. The restaurant itself is cozy and dark, with various artwork displayed on the wall. It appears to be more of an upscale eatery as there were fine linens on the table. As part of the food tour, we enjoyed a bananas foster show. The end product was delicious. My only complaint was the portion was too small.
Service and food are TOP NOTCH! Shout out to Lola for taking such great care. Food is absolutely delicious, everything is fresh and you can feel the love they put into their food. Will be back for sure!!!!
We visited first via a food tour, and my wife instantly fell in love with their bananas foster flambee. We came back for dinner, and this places delivers across the board. The staff is attentive, personable, and polite. There are some very interesting and beautiful art pieces that cover every wall, which made great conversation pieces. Finally, the food is great and the portions are quite good. Especially the dessert, which we had once again when we revisited. Definitely worth making the trip.
I got the steamed class and some veal. They were delicious. You dont get very many class, but they were delicious.
Meatballs, lasagna, and the fettuccine... everything was excellent. The ceaser salad was so good.. made right at our table...to top it off, they did bananas foster.. I was so full and so happy. I do recommend you make reservations. And definitely if you are on the island !go!
I loved the atmosphere. Beautiful artwork and music playing. Friendly attentive staff. Tableside prepared Caesar salad and bananas foster. Far superior experience compared to other places I ate at for the same price.
Need to go there every time I go St T !
Good food
Outstanding dishes, the decor is beautiful and the service, welcoming, caring.
Celebrated the anniversary of some friends and everything was perfect. Ask for Lola for she is the best .
I was in a rush last night trying to get quick food to go and get out of rain. This place surpassed my expectations. They were east to find sun a local area serving at a later time when other restaurants were closing. They had a to go line which was outdoors. The workers were so kind to invite me in the kitchen to get out of rain and grabbed me a menu. They were so uplifting. Each and every one from the cooks to the cleaners. I ordered some of the best Greek salad I ve ever had, a well seasoned minestrone vegetable soup and delicious eggplant Parmesan! I ve posted pictures but trust me, the pictures do t do justice! Even at a late time, they were able to deliver quickly and effectively! Couldn t ask for better to go service. Not to mention, It looked so nice inside..I can t wait to come back and dine in.
You cannot go wrong with this place it is the best food on the planet and every single time I go to St. Thomas I go here. Also, if you are here for new years make reservations right away. The service is also amazing and their pesto pasta is the Number 1 pasta on the planet
The food portions have gotten smaller. I left hungry. The owners attitude toward complaint was terrible
Awful service. The hostess showed clear prejudice towards white guests. I came here with a local and he said its the first time hes gone out and not left a tip. What a joke this place was
They will cheat you. Paid $20 each for a personal pizza. SCAM. Did not want to fix it.
Good food, excellent customer service!!
Omg. When I tell you the service and food was. EXCELLENT. I was skeptical going in but immediately impressed by staff. The bread was so good I had to order seconds All cooked fresh. If I could give it 10 stars I would. I m a picky eater and rarely ever do a review like this. We were on vacation from Missouri and googled Italian food and just picked one. We were not disappointed Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly environment
AMAZING!! Look no further best food I had in St. Thomas!!! Will come back asap.
Services is amazing Food is unbelievable, good Waitresses are bilingual, great hosting Vegetarian options: Salad amazing
Food was great, but loved the vibe of the restaurant even more.
Food was top level! Amazing!
Italiano!!!!! One of my favorite Italian restaurantes in the world. No kidding. Causar salad and bananas foster a must.
Staff is so attentive and personal!! Each trip we make a point to visit. Food
Mixed review, everyone in my party loved rhere food. I did not. I ordered the special of the Dat ravioli with spinach and roasted shrimp. Ravioli was good, but my shrimp tasted like I was eating a cube of salt. I would give it another try someday. Oh the cheesecake stay away order the tiramisu instead. Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible
Fresh Salmon with dill.cream sauce and a red sangria
We always start our trips on island with a night at Virgilio s. This place has the best staff, the best atmosphere, and the very best food!! Pasta peasant style is fantastic, tableside ceaser salad is a treat. Have not gotten dessert so can t speak to that. Make a reservation, you will not regret it!!
I ordered spaghetti with meatballs it was the best pasta i have ever eaten it was so delicious
Food and ambiance were nice. Not easy to find parking. Double check your reservation.
Best Ossobuco in town! The Caesar Salad is prepared at the table, the four cheese pasará is delicious. Services is excellent. We love Virgilios and never miss it when visiting St Thomas.
Always the best. We come here every time we are in St. THOMAS. We love everything about this place!!! Food : 5/5
Interesting setting and a great selection of well prepared Italian meals. Loved the Bananas Foster!
Amazing food and atmosphere!
Best place Ive found for Italian food on the island. Had a great meal and time.
Loved it!
Virgilios is highly recommended.
My wife and I had high hopes for Virgilios after reading glowing reviews and coming highly recommended by our AirBnB hosts. The food was good, but the portions were small by mainland Italian restaurant standards. What we found unsatisfactory (hence the need to write this review) was the service we received. We had 6:30PM reservations, and were seated immediately in the back corner of the dining room. Another couple was seated next to us at the same time. The server came by and took our drink orders, and they were brought to us 20 mins later. At the same time, we placed our order for an appetizer, salads, and our entrees. At 7:20, our our appetizer arrived, followed shortly thereafter by our salads. The table next to us (who arrived after us) received their appetizers before us, was asked if theyd like another cocktail, and had their entrees in front of them before we received our appetizer. After almost 2 hours, at 8:20, we finally received our food, from one of the kitchen staff, and I had to ask for a glass of wine to pair with our meal. We began eating, and after another 20 minutes and our plates were empty, our wine came... Maybe the waitstaff just had an off-night, but at near-fine-dining prices, one should be able to expect excellent service. Id give them a second shot to confirm if this might have been the case if I lived on the island, but I dont.
Fantastic dinner again!!
Great place!
Excellent food. Service charge everywhere. Food
The best food we experienced on the island!!!
The food was just amazing! We couldn t stop eating. We went twice in one week! Service is exceptional. Romantic atmosphere and located in the historic downtown district.
Phenomenal! Enough said. The minestrone itself made the visit worthwhile! Vegetarian options: Speciality Vegetarian dishes: Vegetable Lasagna, Eggplant Parmigiana, Involtini Di Melanzana, Vegetable Plate - in addition to numerous meat-free pasta dishes.
3 great meals!
My wife and I ate there at 4:45 PM, and literally we were the only ones there. Initially they wanted to seat us in some tight sitting nook with a partial wall on 3 sides, and when we asked to move, they moved us to an area with a little bit more space. They said they would need the table at 6:30, which was fine The server who took our order was friendly, and ultimately we got the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and a barbecue style pizza. We also each ordered sodas. What we didn t know, and was never told us, is they charge for refills for soda. The glasses for the drinks were smaller than average and had a lot of ice, so probably each drink literally held less than half a can of a soda, but I m not even sure if they use cans or if it was from a soda fountain dispenser. And at four all the peace with both of us having two, we ended up spending $16 on sodas which I think is ridiculous The food was great it tasted fresh and had a lot of flavor. We didn t get too much more service than just the minimum, i.e. taking the order, getting the one refill each and bringing out the food. what was kind of distracting was hearing the server frequently on her cell phone at the area right when you walk in, as the restaurant itself is fairly small and the tables are close together. The place does look really nice though, with some interesting art and atmosphere. I don t think we would ever eat here again, despite the food being great, everything else was quite a negative for an upscale place.
$125 for Lobster with fettuccine Server never mentioned how my entree might be 5X what my husband s meal was . Called to bring it to their attention. Could have cared less. Food
Enjoyed a lovely 40th anniversary celebration here on 12/12/23. Highly recommended for a lovely Italian meal - we like the veal saltimbocca.
Hands down best restaurant on island !
Amazing service with respectful waiters. By far one of the best bites to eat on the entire island! Definitely a date night contender with an extensive menu of Italian cuisine and a bottomless list of wines.
The shrimp and scallop fettuccine in a white wine sauce was the best Ive had.
Excellent food, but the server basically ignored the two of us.
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, and top notch service
Delicous italian cuisine, you want a wonderful night with your loved one or just a really nice refreshing meal. Come to Virgilios
Cool place with nice decor but we all were sad with the food Three dishes that were all way too salty couldn t finish our food. Disappointed
Best Italian youll find in VI. Its not Chicago or NY good, but good for DesMoines IA. Complimentary bread with marinara was a highlight.
Lovely restaurant. Service and dinner were outstanding. Salad made at our table. Food was fabulous. Everything was more than expected. Dinner was a great experience.
Authentic food with a friendly staff
Awesome! Great service, great pasta
Take out order gets lost 30% of the time. Take out food is tasty and reasonably priced
The food, ambience of the restaurant was fenomenal. Lola, our waitress exceptional. Definitely 5 stars restaurant in St. Thomas.
In st Thomas beat palace to eat italian
Amazing pasta
We liked the food so much that we came back later in the week! One of our favorites on St. Thomas. The food was very authentic Italian. The menu has a wide variety, and the wait staff and management are fun. Dont hesitate to try this establishment. We were able to find parking, but highly recommend using a taxi.
If your on island you expect to pay a little more. We didnt expect the fantastic service. We left feeling like we had dinner with relatives, great night. We danced, drank, and had a little fun this night. You will have a good time dining here for sure.
Wish I could give this place more stars. Staff was extremely helpful in terms of food allergies and the chef, Lester, outdid himself in his cooking despite our allergies. Look forward to coming here on our next vacation!
Truly a restaurant that is worth dining at.....they made jain specials without garlic and onion and no root vegetables. They used galbani cheese which had microbial rennet.....so we were able to dine and enjoy authentic Italian food....thanks to the staff and chef for a delicious meal.......
Love it, delicious food!
The best pasta Ive ever tasted!!!!!
Excellent
excellent.....
Lets start with the decoration of the place, definitely very interesting. Different large paintings decorate the walls, making the place very different and entertaining. The food? For an appetizer we ordered a green salad and a soup. I cant give you my opinion on this because they never served us the same ones. After a while, the food arrived, the ossobuco dish is among the most delicious that my husband has had the opportunity to try, my chicken parmagianna was very good, the capellini pasta in pomodoro sauce had a lot of parsley flavor dry, so I have to tell you that it was not among my favorites, for dessert we ordered a tiramisu, it had a lot of cinnamon... oops, it was not among my favorites either. I am 100% a fan of Italian food, maybe next time we will have a better experience.
Lola was very entertaining and helped us make the perfect dinner selections! Excellent fine dining experience. Loved everything from the garlic bread to the tiramisu.
Wonderful cannaloni. Great service. True table side Cesar salad and Bananas Foster. Highly recommend
This use to be my favorite restaurant. The decor is still awesome with the art work. The food was ok. I was disappointed in that they allowed one customer to vape inside the restaurant and another customer to feed their dog. I guess the standards went out the door!
Amazing place! Great Italian food, wonderful service and the atmosphere is so cozy. Highly recommend!!
The food was descent. I loved the ambience and the artwork throughout. Overall nice spot to relax and have a romantic dinner but not the best Italian food I ve had. I wouldn t recommend the cheesecake either.
Since its the only Italian restaurant on The Rock, it is legitimately the best! That being said, its been better in the past years, but we still come back each year. Less variability here than many other places on island which seem to have many off days! Hope once tourism bounces back the quality will improve but thats all driven my competition, of which there is little here. If you need an Italian fix while visiting, go to Virgilios. By all means have the Bananas Foster flambé!
Outstanding. The place is quaint and clean. Servers were attentive and polite. And the food was amazing. We were a party of 5 and all 5 were beyond pleased. The veal romano was a must have and the shrimp scampi was delicious. A must try while in St. Thomas. Ask about their desserts too. Remember to make reservations!
Great food and service. Ask for a super waitress named Lola. This place is a hidden gem on St Thomas. I highly recommend.
Quirky and cute ambiance. Loved all the decor. Space is super limited and intimate so make sure to make reservations and show up on time. The food tasted authentic with good portions and flavor.
The food was delicious. My husband loved his vegan marinara niocci so much, he ordered a second plate. I have never seen him do that. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Open later than most of the restaurants in the area.
Taken here by our family who lives on the island. There is a reason they eat here once a week! Pasta is fresh and every sauce was perfect. We had an off-menu tasting plate (gnocchi w/ red sauce, ravioli with alfredo, and portabella mushroom with an oil/vinegar reduction). I had the linguine al pesto (photo), which was delicious. Oh and you cant forget the decor, which is unique and what I would describe as a moody Louvre. We will visit again!
Ehhhh. Visited when there were no cruise ships in St Thomas so the downtown area was a ghost town. Food was average at best and it was not cheap at all. Waiter definitely deceived us with the water he served. $16 bottles of water were a complete waste of money.
The place is small, but very beautifully decorated. It says Italian food but its not really an original Italian restaurant. The worst seafood soups I have ever eaten in my life were here. The bad taste. Very good bread and pasta with shrimp, good. The Colombian waiter was very friendly.
Amazing food, and great service!
This is my favorite restaurant. A must have whenever I get home.
Was not sure what to expect. But Italian food well done! The ambience was nice, low-lights with portraits everywhere. Definitely a different elegant vibe when walking in from the street
Great experience, service great, Lola knows how to treat clients, everything she recommends was delicious. She makes our last night unforgettable. THANK YOU!!
Great service and atmosphere
My wife and I have been to St. Thomas a couple times now. The food at Virgilios is great and the service is top notch. Thanks for a wonderful meal. See you again soon.
Intimate casual fine dining Kid-friendliness: Other guests prefer keeping this an adult only night Food : 4/5 |
Nice environment, great food and good service!! On our list for the next visit.
Great food and ambience.
I have only ordered takeout so service and atmosphere I am unable to rate fairly. But their food!!! OMG! Superb. I have eating at this restaurant for years and now that I no longer live on St. Thomas, every time I go home I MUST visit Virgilios. Their Chicken Ceasars is the best! 10 out of 10. A must try.
Food was excellent
