This is our favorite restaurant in St Thomas. The menu is creative and Creole in flavor. Its location in the Palm Passage is fabulous. A reservation is recommended in the busy season. Open for both lunch and dinner.

Omg delicious. We had the lamb and the jerk wahoo, and this is a chef who knows what they are doing. This is a must visit if you are in STT. Not a lot of kids choices but they will go off menu if you request.

If ever in St Thomas and looking for a spot for a romantic dinner, or just an off-the-beaten path to eat, you MUST indulge your culinary craving at Amalia - this spot is FIYAH (put in the vernacular of my St Louis folks)! I NEVER enjoy eating outside, but this joint beckoned me to oblige, and it was well worth the sit-down. The proprietor, Maynard, was such the consummate host, complimented by his daughter with exquisite food service. We also met a most wonderful couple that regularly enjoys their date night there, with their usual corner table...that was the dead give away that wed found the place to be. We capped off our dining experience with their blueberry bread pudding, OMG - go...no, RUN to this place before for its really discovered and you cant get in!

I just ate dinner with with m friends and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We ordered paella and adding chorizo is a MUST. They have a surf and turf special that consisted of lobster, steak and crab. Everything was Incredible. The other main course was the salmon.

This place was highly recommended to us by a local couple today while we were visiting Coki Beach. The food did not disappoint, amazing!

The food was quite good, the service not so much. Expect long waiting after you are seated (we went there on a Friday), unless you are a local. The location is nice, in a quaint passageway but it can get very hot in summer as there is no breeze. So bring a fan, the ceiling fans arent very effective. Again, the food was good but Im not sure it was worth the wait (we booked the reservation over the phone). Parking: You need to find a place to park down the street, make sure you pay the fee before you leave the car.

We were there for a special birthday celebration. The service and food were excellent. Will be going back for sure.

Second time in a 4 night vacation. Thats how good this place is. Amazing food and amazing service. Manoel not only recommended amazing dishes but gave us great tips of where to go in the Island. We will be back for sure!

I dont go to the same restaurant twice when I travel with my wife, but this one was an exception. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty by our server Manuel who is from Rio de Janeiro. An extremely knowledgeable guy that walked us through the extensive menu items. Food was absolutely fantastic. First night we started with the clams on a white wine sauce. It sounds basic but it was far from it. Rich and thick sauce dressed the seafood and they added sliced mushrooms to the sauce which was something I havent had before. We ended up visiting this restaurant twice and had almost everything on the menu. Octopus, prawns and mussel tapas. Lamb shank that is slowed cooked for 4 hours (I had to ask) that fell off the bone. They have a Zarzuela dish with a very rich tomato and parsley sauce. We had a paella valencia and added chorizo to it and was absolutely AMAZING. We also had a $90 cariban lobster fresh off the local fishery in town (I had to ask where they got it from). Needless to say our trip to St Thomas was memorable not only for the beautiful beaches but also because of this restaurant. If you visit St Thomas, please PLEASE! visit this place. The food here is beyond amazing.

This place is spectacular. The food is exquisite, one of the best Spanish dishes we have tried. The octopus, the clams, the seafood Zarzuela and the Paella are something you must try in this restaurant, they are from another world, EXQUISITE. Manuel is the best at serving you and making you feel special, he recommends the best dishes on the menu and explains in great detail how they do it and what ingredients they use. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxing, good music. 100% recommended if you are in St Thomas. The tips that Manuel gives about places to visit on the island are to be followed to the letter.

This an upscale restaurant without being pretentious. We had the roasted lamb shank which was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. We ordered the roasted duck breast. It was tasty but a bit over cooked and dry. This was our 2nd time there and highly recommend it. We will definitely be back.

It is a awesome restaurant. Not only the food is delicious (awesome paella) but the service is more than 5 star. Highly recommended.

Wonderful experience! Lunch on the patio/alley with an awesome waiter. Nice historic building. Parking could be an issue but the visit is well worth it. Parking: Not much parking in the area.

We happened upon this place and were pleasantly surprised at every turn. It started with the service, which was thoughtful, friendly, and helpful. He (Manuel, I think) clearly knew his craft! We weren t hungry but ordered gazpacho and some tapas, which were all excellent. I wish we had more room because it would have been fun to try more. Atmosphere was lovely, felt like Spain, or Cuba. Definitely come here!

Stopped by Amalia Cafe for dinner this evening, a short dinghy ride from St. Thomas Bay. within walking distance of the dingy dock. Very nice dinner. Half the table shared a pitcher of sangria, the red variety, which was not too sweet, full of fruit and pretty darn tasty! The first courses were gazpacho and piquillo rellenos shared with the table. The soup was good, the peppers stuffed with cheese and cod, smothered in a tomato sauce was better! The shared entree was zarsuelos mariscos very tasty! Very fresh seafood in a tomato-based sauce, rice on the side. A good dinner, reasonably priced. We d visit again when in STT!

I took my time to do the research and was excited to try the restaurant with my son, we were looking to enjoy some good vibes and tasty appetizers. We were treated horribly when our waiter, Manuel, realized we are only ordering appetizers he suddenly became so much less interested in our table. I ordered wine and escargot, expecting the usual side of bread, but it never came. When after 3rd attempt me calling him out loud, we finely got Manuels attention, he was so rude, he said why we changed out mind if we passed on a bread order earlier. Seriously? Also my son was under a weather today and didn t have any appetite. I don t eat much also and love to share meals and didn t have anyone to share with! That s why we only wanted appetizers . He made me and my son feel so unwelcome! Don t go to this restaurant if you are not ordering the whole diner or you will be treated badly! P.S.: When he eventually brought the bread, my escargot was cold and the butter he brought with a bread was already opened! He didnt even bothered to clean! Look at the picture, I never touched it! I rarely write negative reviews , only when I am really disappointed

Our whole family was loving their food and the service was very accommodating to a shellfish allergy that we forgot to mention and brought us a new entree. Outdoor patio was lovely and server Adam was attentive and helpful. Worth the visit!

A bit of a surprise in St. Thomas, Charlotte Amalie. Its Spanish food, and very good. The atmosphere is very much like a restaurant in Spain. Parking: It will take some luck and doing to find parking.

A magical place, if you happen to be blessed with Joan as your server, consider that bonus points. The staff were attentive and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, not only to their establishment, but to St Thomas as a whole. Oh, and the food was superb.

Parking: Street parking is limited Kid-friendliness: Actually although it is not exactly kid friendly, they do accommodate they have booster seats and they do have kid dishes such as chicken tenders and pasta, marinara alfredo and garlic olive oil Wheelchair accessibility: I would say it is not wheelchair accessible there is a step up I do not see where you could get a wheelchair up into the restaurant at all. If you know anything about the island it is very much not Ada accessible

Phenomenal start to finish!!

We ate here 2x on a recent visit to St Thomas. The service was very good but don t be in a rush. We had the specials both nights. The tuna appetizer was excellent and the curried grouper on Valentine s Day was superb!! Cheers to the chef!

Food lacked flavour and adequate sauces. The bread was okay, but far from free. The service was a mixed experience, and our waitress was likely spread too thinly over too many tables. This is a particularly poor choice for vegetarians.

It was the best meal we had during our entire vacation in USVI. The lamb shank and stuffed eggplant were cooked to perfection. The wait staff was amazing as well. A perfect dining experience. Vegetarian options: The Stuffed eggplant was amazing and filling.

Delicious Lobster.

Outstanding dining for an island restaurant. Real imported chorizo is fine quality. Friendly staff. It can take a while to get your order but keep in mind the further south you go in English speaking North America the more calm the pace of business is. For St. Thomas this was outstanding and the food quality to price was unmatched for anywhere. My Mom had the special salad. I had the Don Quijote steak sandwich and we both loved the chorizo and bread tapas.

The food and service was outstanding!

Server Joan was rude to my group. We were also charged an automatic 20% gratuity for a group of 4 when the menu explicitly states that a group of 5 or more would be charged an automatic 18%. Very disappointed in the service though the food was amazing. Honestly felt taken advantage of, Joan was rude, had an attitude, and ignored our group frequently. Wish I could rate higher.

Lobster was pristine. Amazing service, staff was friendly and attentive. We loved the atmosphere. Wine, bread, and entrées were all great (we got lobster linguine and grouper).

Everyone loved their meal. Our waiter was very attentive And pleasant to speak with. He answered questions readily. The atmosphere was relaxing and our table was perfect for us. One of our party had a little glitch and the waiter was quick to help and checked later also, he was caring and that added to our evening. Two had the paella with chorizo, one the lobster special and one the Salmon Ammiel. Love that sauce!! The atmosphere exudes ambiance, the food and drinks are delicious, summing up its awesome.

If you get the chance to eat here take it! We had a Wonderful birthday celebration and everything was perfect. Make sure you call ahead for a reservation as they were packed but we would have never known it because the service was flawless. Rosie handled everything just perfectly. The atmosphere is perfect, sangria was on point and the wine list has something for everyone. We have some tough foodies and everyone couldn t stop raving about their meals. Octopus appetizer - was delicate and delicious. Exceptional. Thanks to the team for such wonderful birthday memories.

Excellent dinner for our party of four. Make reservations, as, if we hadnt, we would not have been able to get a table. very good setting inside a covered patio area, inside the courtyard of the Palm Passage alleyway. Possibly our best dinner in Charlotte Amelie.

Amalia Café is a delightful open-air restaurant owned and operated by Randolph and Helga Maynard. Located in the cobblestone Palm Passage, downtown in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. They serve a varied selection of Spanish favorites and augmented by daily tapas and entrée specials. We dined here for lunch on our last day on St. Thomas and the only disappointment was that we didnt dine here earlier. I had the waiters recommendation of COPA DE SALPICÓN DE MARISCO CON ENSALADA DE BROTES TIERNOS; Mélange of fresh shellfish beautifully served with a top secret sauce . A very fresh tapa made with seafood such as octopus, mussels and prawns. We will return whenever we are in town!

After a long day at the beach, we stumbled upon this little cafe and had the BEST meal in a long time. Rosie, the hostess/server enticed us to try the best restaurant on the island. Im always a little skeptical of situations like this but we gave it a try. Well,,, Ive had some really, good food around the world, and this was TOP 5 best meals Ive ever had. I had Zarzuelua de Mariscos and was basically PERFECT!!! It truly cold not have been better. Our server Minny was absolutely fantastic!!! Rosie you told us it was the best food on the island, I cant possibly imagine better food on the island. THIS PLACE IS A !!!!!!!

Lunch at Amalia Cafe was the perfect way to end a great trip to St Thomas on our way to the airport. The food was delicious and presented in a beautiful way and was served by friendly and knowledgeable staff in a relaxed and serene outdoor atmosphere not far from the water. I ll definitely be back on my next trip to St Thomas!

This place is a gem, the service was excellent. Our server Amiel who we called Samuel the whole time is a delight. The knowledge of the food and suggestions he presented was top notch. We started of with the Octopus as a tapas appetizer, which we highly recommend. By the my wife and I came here on our 4th night of our honeymoon in the USVI. Anyways back to Amalia Cafe, I oreded the Paella with chorizo added, I must say it was the best paella Ive had in years. The chorizo added is clutch. I would just hold off on the peas, it was too much. But the buffet of seafood for a 1 plate paella makes up for it. My wife got their pasta of the day which was amazing, it was a calamari stuffed shrimp with mushrooms over squid ink pasta and tomato sauce. It was superb. We finished the dinner off with the creme brulee which was one of the best ones weve ever had as a couple. Perfect balance of sweetness and tart. We highly recommend Amalia Cafe to everyone. Pls do ask about their daily specials and keep businesses like Amalia Cafe open for everyone to enjoy.

This place felt like a slice of Europe in the downtown of St. Thomas. The elegance was lovely, and you feel welcome. We were sat down at a table next to the fence. In front of us, there was infused olive oil and vinegar...but no bread. Turns out you have to order a side of bread for $4. The entrees took a while to come, but the chicken paella was simply elegant. Highly recommended. I also got the paella which had a strong flavor and a generous quantity of seafood.

Cute little hidden restaurant in downtown area! Playing peaceful Spanish music & seated outside. Loved the tapas especially the shrimp and calamari! We also got the sausage and octopus which were tasty. The entrees are a good portion size and could be shared, they come with a free glass of sangria! A little bit on the pricey side but a solid place.

This spanish restaurant is a diamond. I am from Spain and for that I can valuate spanish food. The manager was trained in Spain and has everything under control. If you visit St Thomas and you dont visit this place, you will regret it! In summary a MUST! Food

Absolutely wonderful. A little pricey but delicious. I had roasted lamb $42 and my wife had Zarzuela $35. We also enjoyed some escargot in mushroom and garlic butter sauce $19 and we both loved it.

Nice outdoor lunch and dinner spot with a nice breeze on the waterfront section. The bread, fish soup, and Barcelona Burger were all excellent.

Food was very good, but a pitcher of red Sangria for $57 without a single fruit inside, which tasted like a cheap drink from a supermarket was very weird and certainly not possibly best on the island as they claim.

A wee bit overpriced and one item that had bacon listed as being wrapped around shrip.dis not have bacon wrapped around the shrimp (as far as I could tell) The Spanish sausage was good though.

Unbelievable find. Absolutely the best restaurant on St. Thomas. The waiter was so accommodating and helpful. A must. Get the garlic shrimp or the garlic mushroom. The risotto was incredible.

Always a great place for dinner, Stuffed shrimp! Clams with white wine sauce! And the Shank, you will not ho wrong at this place.

An absolutely exceptional dinner. The service was spot on. We had three tapas abs shared a main. Each one was perfect. Delicious. Exceptional. And the fresh bread. Truly an amazing meal. The location was very central and it s in a quaint quiet courtyard. They even nailed the background music. We would go back and refer everyone we know.

I was really rooting for this restaurant, but the rude and standoffish owner really left a sour taste on our meal. The restaurant has a nice cool outdoor vibe and really meant for couples and small groups. Highly recommend making a reservation as walk-ins are not welcomed as I sadly experienced. I saw a table open up and asked if my family could have it, the owner frowned and reluctantly cleaned off the table 20 min later. Over the 2 hour dinner service, the owner refused to even glance in our direction and checked on ALL of the tables except ours. The unwelcomed feeling was definitely evident even by his staff despite that we spent $150. I could hear him jeering and shouting at our waitress and other staff members behind the closed doors. The waitress was very nice and kind. The complementary fluffy bread basket was nice, but didnt quite hold us over for the 1 hour wait to get our food. The food is a culinary experience and deserves 5 stars. The juicy Eggplant Rollatini stuffed with spinach and cheese was quite tasty. Hands down the best Ive had! The Poach Pear with vanilla ice cream was unique with a sweet warm caramelized pear. It was a fun to try as I rarely spot that dish on the menu. While the food was worthy of 5 stars, it was hands-down the worst dining experience on our trip. The apathetic and brusque attitude of the owner and long wait time demotes the review to 2 stars.

Best Restaurant in St. Thomas

This restaurant was referred to us by the owners of the B&B where we were staying. In fact they were the ones that personally called and made our reservation for our dinner. When we arrived, the gentleman said we were not listed as having a reservation. We continued to ask, are you sure? Upon calling our B&B back, they confirmed they had called and had made the reservation earlier that day. The gentleman said, sorry, we cannot accommodate you. BUT in steps the other waitress, Cara, she said I can put you at a table on the other side of the porch and we said that would be fine. She was fabulous!!!! She has worked at the restaurant for 13 years I believe. Of course the 4 top we were supposed to be seated at never had anyone else there, so we know that was supposed to have been our table, but thankful in the long run he was not our waiter! Cara was kind, constantly checking on us and went over and above for our last meal out from of our 10 day trip. ....and the food was so spectacular!

Great food, just have to ask for the sauce for your plate.. no big deal. Service was nice as well, can t complain. If you like a cocktail with your dinner this is not the place. They charge $7 for water and if you like a snifter with your dinner like me, you will receive the shortest pour of whiskey you ve ever seen. I had four because they keep evaporating or they were tiny??I don t mind paying for what I receive, but these were $16 a piece for Jameson level. I asked if there was a mistake, I was guaranteed there was not. I live here on the island and am a little disappointed our best restaurants pour doubles, charge the same amount and I leave with a smile on my face not here. However, to be fair the food was delicious, it just soured the night

My wife and I arrived in St.Thomas, USVI today as part of cruise itinerary. Feeling hungry, we found the most amazing restaurant for lunch - Meson Amalia - Cafe Amalia in downtown Charlotte Amalie. Exquisite Spanish food, excellent service and friendly staff. Our server, Timisa, gave great menu suggestions. Affordable. You will walk away saying this was better than the food on a cruise ship. Check this place out!

This is a gem in St Thomas! The Spanish influenced cuisine with the Caribbean flair makes for a uber delicious dinner. The fish was absolutely fresh and all the dishes were plenty flavorful. The service is very warm and accommodating too. We were absolutely pleased with our dinner here!

We dined here for lunch on our last day on St. Thomas and the only disappointment was we didnt dine here more. It was exceptional! We ate well during our trip, but this might have been our favorite restaurant. We shared 2 Tapas dishes: Gambas Ajillo and Calamaris Fritos and on Entree: Zarzuela de Mariscos. Absolutely spectacular flavors! Rosie, our server, was absolutely great. She was fun, friendly, and you can tell she loves Amalia Cafe herself. Definitely choose this charming laid back restaurant for any meal!

Came here for dinner and received the best service and incredible food on island!

After 20 years of coming to St Thomas, we tried this place. What a loss for us not coming sooner! Amazing Spanish food.... the clams appetizer is amazing! We ordered garlic shrimp, chorizo, clams, cerviche, gazpacho soup and paella.... it did not dissapoint! Rosie was an amazing server as well who did not steer us wrong! Thanks so much and we will be back!

Eaten here many times over of numerous vacations on St Thomas. Never fails! The menu is great The food is wonderful and fresh We had calamari and clams and chorizo for starters followed by fish with salads and a variety of deserts. All very good. Great wait staff

Top notch restaurant for an island. Server was NY quality reciting the specials from memory. Food - our table had quite a variety. When my turn to order I was going to ask between the grilled chicken over linguine or the strip and there server recommended the steak over the linguine. Best of both worlds. Steak was that ci and cooked just right for medium rare. Ambiance - nice local island feel, yet still upper scale. We sat outside and the wall of the buildings was exposed brick that was weathered addund to the charm. Cost - coming from New York area, the cost was very reasonable. Less than $100 per person including drinks. Service - waiter was on point. Professional and friendly. Recited specials like a pro without note card. Water glasses were always filled and we didnt wait long for out food or drinks.

Great wine selection with a quaint environment. Nice table settings, great staff and wonderful Spanish guitar music. The bread, the mahi mahi, the paellas and the escargot were delicious. Bread pudding for dessert was among the best I ve tried.

Average at best. Nothing was horrible, but nothing was good or memorable. Even the Sangria was just ok. Probably would not return.

We shared tapas for lunch and it was exceptional!

We were thrilled to come to this restaurant. We had a look at some of their food items when going for a stroll one night. The atmosphere is great and the food was excellent. Our server did not treat us the way she did the other tables. Just being direct. She profiled us because we were black, and she waited on the other tables hand and foot. She was from the states because I could tell by the way she talked, and I would think she would have more respect for herself and for others by treating everyone the same. I have worked in a restaurant as a server in the past, and I understand that some people who come into the restaurant do not have etiquette, however, you do not treat people this way. I was disgusted by the way she acted; it was obvious and she didnt try to hide it. Due to experiences like that, a customer would never remember how great the food was or the atmosphere because the experience was ruined by the service. I would love to have given this restaurant more stars and unfortunately this was the only damper on our vacation trip. Just a tip to that waitress and Im sure she knows who she is, treat everyone the same. The bottom line is you treat everyone with respect. By the way, we tipped her great, because thats the kind of people we are, so I hope she took a page out of our book.

We had multiple meals come out either completely raw or overcooked and when we sent it back they told us we wouldnt be charged but after hours of bickering they still charged us. Unacceptable food and service regardless of the catastrophic ly overpriced meals.

I would give a 0 if I could, I got the special of the day with two lamb chops shrimp and Mahi. Both lamb chops came raw, I returned them and one was burnt the other was untouched, I returned the other one and came back raw again. My brother and two friends ordered the very expensive surf and turf all medium rare and when it came it was over well done and cold and dry. We ordered an app of garlic shrimp that was 4 small shrimp for 15 dollars.this was a very expensive meal and was inedible at parts. When the check came they were saying how they were nice because they did not charge double for the meals that were sent back.TOTAL TOURIST TRAP DO NOT GO!

Although my food was good (though oily), two of my friends had to have their food returned due to poor quality. One had to return his lamb twice, first because it was raw and it was returned burnt, second time it was also raw and given back raw. The cook does not know how to properly prepare red meat. We also paid 15 dollars for 4 pieces of medium sized shrimp in garlic sauce, absolutely insane entree prices for less than appetizer sized proportion. A complete and utter waste of time and money that is a tourist trap. Overall not worth a quarter of the price we paid.

Very dry and salty, we were a big group so we got to taste most of the food, only duck and appetizers were fine. This place is very overrated. Two of us returned the food after trying a small piece because it was too dry and uneatable but they charged us anyway, saying you touched the food! Overpriced, they even charge you for a refill of coke without warning! If you want some really tasty high quality food with reasonable price go to french bistro!

I am sitting at the restaurant reviewing as I eat because I couldnt wait to tell yall everything we ordered was incredible! The sangria, lobster bisque with crab, and the octopus were all absolutely perfect. The staff is also excellent, very attentive and food came out so quickly. Cant wait to come back here again!

This was the one and only place on the island where we actually got impeccable, lovely service, and incredible food. Nothing like any of our other experiences, and I wish we discovered it before our last day. Absolutely incredible paella, lovely gazpacho, and amazing sangria. Our server was amazing!!

Was looking for seafood in St. Thomas and found this it was great and in addition to that I got service from Adam he was nice. finally the mussels, clams and lamb shank oooo juicy and yummy in one word it couldn t be better anymore and good job chef the man behind the screen you did a great job with bread too, thank you guys

Very tasty food. My wife ordered a Barcelona(with Manchego cheese), and I ordered Seafood Salpicón. The servings were huge, and my wife could not finish her dish(I barely finished mine). Food was very fresh. Highly recommend this restaurant.

1st place we ate at our 1st night on Saint Thomas. Food was excellent the waite staff was great and very informative on food choices their specials that is another place I would again eat at.

Amazing experience and food. JB was our waiter and he was attentive, quick, great with suggestions, and friendly. Out of the 6 restaurants we went to here was the only one to successfully split our bill properly without issue. The food was delicious and flavored well we had chicken picatta, lamb chops, lamb shank, lobster, creme cantata, poached pears, bread pudding, and chocolate cheesecake.

I came all the way from Detroit Mi to enjoy myself and I come to yall restaurant and have bad service the waitress had really terrible service and her attitude she was just so disrespectful

I was there last night, along with a very unruly, disrespectful, rowdy group who were borderline abusive to our server. This group was disorderly and completely disrespectful to the server and ALL of the other patrons in the restaurant. We all felt so sorry for the server as she barely kept it together while the table trashed the place, vaped (e-cigarettes) at the table and ordered our server around by yelling and arguing with her. Ive never seen such a classless group of people in my life. This place, along with our server, was delightful. The food was outstanding. I highly recommend the ceviche and daily specials. But, the star of the show were the grilled lamb chops. They were tender and juicy and quite frankly, the best Ive ever had. The wine was chilled perfectly and the key lime pie was TO DIE FOR. Once the disgusting group left the patio, all of us around the table throughly enjoyed ourselves and over-tipped the waitress for having to deal with amateur tourists. She and her manager were true professionals. I recommend reservations. You will not be disappointed!

We arrived without a reservation on a SAT night. If you plan to eat here better be sure make a reservation, otherwise you will likely get a very curt greeting from the wait staff. Gotta bad vibe from the place. We are new to St. Thomas and will likely skip this one next our next visit.

Fusion Caribbean-Italian restaurant. Tasty. Bread is made per order per customer - which is still very hot. We stopped by after sightseeing and shopping around the area and just missed the lunch hours - for dinner time, price is higher for the same menu :-(. The reason we know because at first they gave us menu for lunch but they realized the mistake and took that menu away and switched to dinner menu. We were served by a friendly Ecuadorian hostess.

Excellent Spanish food! Delicious tapas and paella, very friendly service and very nicely designed and maintained place. Highly recommend the garlic shrimp and chorizo tapas, as well as their seafood paella.
