151 Kent St, Charlottetown, PE C1A 1N5, Canada
This place is so fun! They have a huge record collection that you can dig through and if you want to hear something you find, you just lay it out and they put it on. The food and drinks were fantastic and so reasonably priced and portions are generous. They have a good selection of local drinks on tap. Service was fantastic from everyone. I was only visiting Charlottetown, but if I lived there I would for sure be back. They also have multiple (delicious) vegan options, which I greatly appreciated. My dining partner had a flight of 3 completely different kinds of poutine and said it was fantastic. Whatever aioli they put on their fries is unreal. So good. I stopped in on a Wednesday night, not knowing they were playing music bingo - they play a brief clip of a song, you have to identify it and find it on your card if it is there. They handed out cards and dabbers, explained the rules, and off we went. Service continued efficiently throughout, it was well-organized. I ended up winning 🏆 (yay!), but would have had a lot of fun even if I hadn’t.
Absolutely delicious food/beers, great atmosphere and very quick and attentive service. If you’re vegetarian this is a must go! One of the first times i’ve gone to a non-vegan restaurant and had lots of options to choose from! We will certainly be returning when the new menu drops to see what other dishes they will create!
We visited Hopyard for a late lunch around 3 pm, and the place was nearly empty, with just one person handling both serving and bartending. Initially, I was concerned that having only one server might result in a long wait, but he quickly took our drink order and followed up with our main course soon after. The food arrived promptly, and the Ultimate Burger I ordered was outstanding—one of the best I've ever had. The burger was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside, topped with a mouthwatering sauce, and served with homestyle fries garnished with green onion and mayo. Impressively, the server noticed that my 8-year-old is a picky eater and wisely served the fries without the green onion and mayo. Overall, the food was excellent, and I highly recommend this place.
Great service and good food with a good diverse beer selection. The menu is a little eclectic but all items we ordered were spot on including brisket grilled cheese and the fried potato salad appetizer. Good collection of vinyl records. Pick one out and they’ll but it in queue to play. Sometimes there’s even live music.
Second time coming here. Great food. Great service. Vegetarian friendly. Creative menu. The menu we had this time has lots of Mexican cuisine inspired food. Excellent overall 👍
Wonderful drinks, they change the menu every month completely, I like the concept but some of the ideas need to be worked on more for example there is a vegetarian ramen on the menu with the wrong type of noodles!
I had such a lovely experience here. Half the menu is vegetarian, most of which can be made vegan. They serve creative dishes with international influences, and their menu changes every 2 weeks so you'll always have something new and exciting to try. I personally ordered the vegan Hawaiian plate lunch crunch wrap, which was delicious and came in a huge portion. My omnivore family loved the vegetarian dishes they got too. Well located near downtown Charlottetown. Nice outdoor seating area on the street. Reasonable prices. Friendly service. Cozy vibe and lots of vinyl records that you can choose to be played.
Great dynamic menu. Dishes are always interesting and well presented with intense flavors. Lots of beer choices too, of course. Update: Three years later and I'm still excited to eat here each time.
Food was tasty
Had some good beer, decent pub food.
Beer and cider on tap was great! Excellent, friendly service, too!
Very good pasta
Fantastic bar with great music and even better beer
Absolutely top bar! Great host Mike and knowledgeable about all local brews
I had the pulled pork Tacos and they were 10/10 INSANE
Great food variety and a number of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options. Fun pub style. Main menu changes often. Good presentation and food was hot. Vegetarian options: Several. Very accommodating. Dietary restrictions: GF VG V
One of my favourite restaurants in PEI right now.... menu changes every few weeks and is always great. Lots of beer and cider on top. 2024 Update: the menu has changed a lot post Covid, fewer small plates options and I miss those... Its more regular meals which are still good but I loved being able to try several things.
Great curated beer list. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable about both beer and PEI. Definitely will be back.
Food hasnt arrived yet. Not late, just dont care anymore. The highlight of the evening was Christian the magician who popped by our table. He was amazing
Had the Philly Risotto. Food was very tastefull. Prices were reasonable.
Amazing vegan tacos! Service was absolutely amazing, will define come back when visiting PEI Vegetarian options: Vegetarian menu with multiple options that can be made vegan Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian menu with multiple options that can be made vegan
Stopped here on a Sip the Town tour. The owner, Miguel, was fantastic! We enjoyed a variety of beers and drinks along with some poutine and chili fries. Will definitely be coming back the next time we are in town!
Mike is a legend and the vinyls make for a great atmosphere. Menu was top notch and well balanced Vegetarian options: Varied and adaptable Dietary restrictions: Team made sure we appreciated everything from drinks to snacks
Great place to be! The owner, Mike and his friendly staff, really know how to make you feel welcomed and at home. We were visiting from Ontario, and this was an experience to remember. We stayed for drinks and Mike took good care of us . The food looked truly incredible. Best believe that when we come back to the Island, Hopyard is a priority to visit. Tell Mike, the Ottawa Goons sent you!
Great bean burger, and pretty good ultimate burger. Fries were pretty standard but the toppings were unique! Fun place competitively priced. Would certainly return!
Food is always bang on delicious, my partner and I have been coming here for quite some time and have eaten through many menus. This place is a must try for Pei. 6/5 stars! Dietary restrictions: Gluten friendly options and lots of vegetarian options
Huge assortment of local beers and a number of good options for non-beer drinkers as well. Awesome vibe playing vinyl that customers dig up from the bins.
There was a pup crawl that night we were there. Very busy. Just a little too loud for this old man. The experience was cool though. I had sausage bites which were great.
Truly a surprising place! Exceptional quality of dishes! The tastes on the plate are in perfect harmony, delicious!
Such a fun place with great beer!
When I went to hopyard I had pasta and had a really bad allergic reaction. The server told me that there were no nuts in the food but that is my only allergy and I was quite sick from the food. The service was quite slow as the server rarely ever came out to check on us. The icing on the bad experience was how long the food took to come out, we waiting for our food for over 30 minutes. I had one bit of the pasta before my allergic reaction and they still charged for the pasta. Overall terrible experience and would not recommend
First time at Hopyard. Great service. Nice selection of beers. The menu is a great change. Culinary delights. I had the Pastors pasta and did my friend. Tasty. Great beer ... I had the Red Dirt Road. I have also had the Village Green english bitter and enjoyed it. It was such a great experience that I went back the next day. Wheelchair accessibility: Street level entrance.
Fantastic food. Fries as good as they get, and veggie/vegan options that are far above average. Not missing out by skipping the meat, here.
its a great pub !! nice atmosphere very friendly great service !! they change their menu theme every couple months my only small complaint is its a bit ( small bit) dreary ,but overall excellent and great prices !!
We stopped in for a quick drink on a hot, hot June day. Local beer was great (IPA) and cocktails were great as well. All drinks are reasonably priced. Bartender was wonderful and the vibe is chilled out. Lots of vinyls to choose from and the staff will play them over the speakers for you. 5/5. Definitely recommend
Food is unique and always changing. Incredible quality. Tapas style but the dishes are a good size. 3 plates between 2 people was more than enough. Vegetarian options: Half their menu is vegetarian
This place is incredible! Been here a few times, and hats off to the chef. The menu changes frequently and never disappoints with fresh new twists to every dish. Every bite is a flavorful adventure to my taste buds. What I also love is the wide variety of vegetarian options. Kudos to you and your chef. Cant recommend you enough!
Alleviating comfort food to incorporate fun and exciting new flavours to highlight each month. Always a repeat Customer!
We use to have one in Halifax, until it shut down sadly. So when I came here for vacation. Saw that Hopyard was still open so I had to go in. The fact that they do what they did in Halifax was change the menu, monthly is great! I went on Wednesday, it was trivia night. The server (Brandon) was a total sweetheart. Im glad I went. One amazing thing about Hopyard I forgot to mention with the menu changes monthly half is vegetarian/vegan and half isnt so theres something for everyone.
The lunch specials are unique, tasty, and all under $20. Fantastic local tap selection. Hope you like music on vinyl!
nice spot, great food for meat eaters and vegans alike.
Ridiculously underrated spot, had the jerk chicken poutine and it wasn t some generic stuff that most restaurants have. Interior is nice, staff is friendly, definitely stopping by again :)
The food was outstanding!!! Very fresh and perfectly prepared. I could argue this is the best Ive had in Charlottetown.
Cool brewpub! Excellent food, had the Chicken Shawarma. The owner is very friendly. Great beers. And some classic rock on vinyl playing. Definitely recommend!
Great food and huge selection for vinyl lovers
Excellent service, food and atmosphere very pleased.
Service could be slow at times but the hospitality and the quality of the food more than made up for it. Will be back
One of the very best places to eat in Charlottetown right now. A constantly changing menu that always excites and delights, a great variety of guest beers, great music, fresh atmosphere, and outstanding hospitality. Vegetarian options: Very extensive and delicious vegetarian and vegan options.
Amazing food, they have live music most nights. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options with great quality. I LOVED the winter risotto
Great team and selection of local beers. Good menu if you are after some pub food. Going there regularly. But I promise Im not hooked on beer
All craft beer on tap, selection varies, small plates, usually very good but I tend to be underwhelmed here, service was good
They are ever changing but always strive to satisfy
Great Experience, Food n Drink n Service Top Notch.
What a pleasant surprise. I was honestly a bit hesitant when I saw some of the flavor/ingredients combinations. But Ill be dammed if it doesnt work. One of the best meals I have ever had. The explosion of flavor with every bite made this experience i will not forget. To the chef, your bold choices and flavor profiles are wonderful and a true testament to your talent. Thank you to Ben our server. Superbe service, matched with a phenomenal meal. Highly recommend and I will be back to try the new menu.
This was one the first local pubs.we hit when we arrived from Saskatchewan and we will definitely be back! Mike was an incredibly hospitable host with excellent recommendations for what to eat and what to drink, and the food and drink did not disappoint. Laidback and welcoming atmosphere with the coolest playlist... patron-picked vinyl. If youre visiting Charlottetown, put this place at the top of your list!
Service was slow and I was brought the wrong drinks. Found the menu overpriced for the size portions of the food. The food was good though, but wont be returning anytime soon...
What a fantastic time! We sat at the bar, which may have been the best seats (although everywhere looked like a great choice). Friendly barstaff, very knowledgeable about local brews. The food changes monthly, so if you get there now and the pork tacos are still on the menu - BUY THEM. The best Ive ever had. Overall I might be glad Im not a local because Id spend all my money at this joint. Highly recommend!!
Great
Great food. The beer list is awesome.
Excellent food and wonderful service
We had great service, and it was a nice environment. My only complaint was that the food we ordered was coated in so many different rich sauces and it was very salty. Having a sensitive tummy sometimes, all the sauce/salt made the food hard to eat - if I had known I would have requested lessss sauce. But I can see how people love this place.
We stopped in after a walk for a bite to eat and a beer. The server was rude and not at all helpful. She acted like we were putting her out when asking which beers were available. She suggested we get up and go look in the fridge. Terrible experience. Food was average. Hard to believe customer service has come to this. We would recommend you try somewhere else.
Excellent as always! Great food & great service
Really enjoyed my meal! Great atmosphere! Staff were great and very accommodating to our group of 9. They also made some great recommendations. I had the miso burger and mango mojito and would definitely get both again!!
Great atmosphere. menu can be hit or miss but thankfully it changes every month or so
What a terrible place to eat and hang out with friends and family!!! Negative 8 Stars !! First of all, you feel really cramped (not enough space to sit comfortably) Secondly, its so terribly noisy in there you cant even hear your own words. Finally, the food, it is beyond rudeness/ scam. You pay very high prices for such pretentious and mediocre meals, coming in the most pathetic little portions youll ever see!! I took my parents there and we actually believed that our meals were little appetizers, I am so embarrassed and outraged!! Please avoid this money grab, there are so many other better restaurants/bars that offer a great atmosphere with meals that are priced adequately and fair!!
This may be my favorite bar/restaurant. It has a wide selection of beer and had a totally original menu that changes constantly. Also hosts am inclusive and eclectic crowd. The food here has always exceeded my expectations, which are very high having eaten here several times now.
Excellent
Great selection of beers and delicious meals
Hope atmosphere. Great service and food. There is a table of records you can look through and ask the staff to play. Unique experience.
It doesnt look like much. But the second you stick your head in the door you are welcomed by a warm and chill staff. The back wall is covered in vinyl and there is a central table in the back where you can sift through a suprisingly well curated collection of vinyl the the staff will put on for you with a smile. The beer selection is quite good. The vibe while selecting beer is pretty slick with bartender ready to let you taste anything. The food: a menu that changes often, is small and exciting. True fusion that can cater to dietary restrictions such as vegan and GF. The food was special. I mean, it is out there in terms of concept, i.e. kimchi nachos. The dishes are full of bold flavours, layers of pickled things, homemade sauces and subtle textures. Let me say this, the food is very good. Suprisingly so. Elements of a beautiful mess may be present on your plate, but in your mouth it all makes sense, a lot of sense. Its very original through and through, from first contact to the service style and even interactions with the owner. The content found within the four walls punches way above its weight and really puts into perspective how so many restaurants dont have their priorities straight. These guys really have their ducks in a row in an easy, vibey kind of way. A+
Fabulous place to eat especially if you have food restrictions!
Drinks were so good. Food was a little overpriced I felt as compared to taste and quantity. Ambience was okay . I would recommend drinks I got virgin mojitos they were really nice and price was reasonable.
Dietary restrictions: Many Gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options Food
Personable service, combined with local craft beers and innovative menu (+ huge vegetarian selection) rates this hip spot a
My family and I are so grateful we stumbled upon this place, the service was impeccable, atmosphere was lovely, and the food was absolutely delicious. They change their menu each month which we think is super cool and as a family with a million allergies (celiac, seafood, nuts, dairy, soy, etc) we were delighted by the precautions taken and assurance that we were in the right hands. I love my family, but we tend to be very stuck-up when it comes to trying new restaurants as we have high expectations this restaurant blew us out of the water! We cannot wait to come back and are even more excited to try a whole new menu! Trying this is a must, whether you just want a drink or are looking for a delectable meal the Hopyard is the place to be!
Beautiful, chill spot with great food and lots of beer and cider on tap. Staff are super friendly and the location is in the heart of everything.
Food was amazing. Service was amazing. A place you definitely have to go to if you re in Charlottetown. We were very impressed by the vegetation and vegan options on their menu.
Took my dad here for Fathers day and it was awesome. The rotating menu is incredible and the food is so good. Beer was delicious and service was fab. Great atmosphere. Id recommend!
Sooooo good! Its worth stopping in here if youre ever in Charlottetown for sure. With an ever evolving menu, options for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free, and amble beer selection youll have to visit more than once to experience everything you would want to try here! 14/10 would recommend you go here now!
This was a great find in Charlottetown for our vegetarian fam! A whole page of yummy options (vegan options too!) and the atmosphere was great. We sat outside and it was a nice street + a few dogs came over from other customers and added to our fun. We had the potato chip nachos which were lovely, and my sister had the Greek grilled cheese-type meal. I recommend for anyone visiting Charlottetown. Vegetarian options: A whole page of them, including sandwiches and nachos and salads.
My expectations were high seeing this rated extremely high. However, after ordering food, it was very far from what I expected. Food all had a very weird flavor. I had poutine but it was way too sweet (the thing had general tao flavor combined with a lot of pineapple bits and nothing to balance out all these sweet flavors a bit). Portion per plate/bowl was way too small. The table we were had broken chairs. All and all, I did not like my experience in this place. Couldve been preventable.
Highly recommend coming here with your family, great food. Great atmosphere we left full. Thank you very much for the great meal.
Great food and wide selection of beers
Food is a 10/10. Menu changes monthly, but the options are superb. So flavourful and eclectic. Menu is well laid out showing which items are vegan, gluten free, contain seafood. Lots of beer options, and even a few non alcoholic options too. Good atmosphere. Great service. Awesome central location. Cute patio. My only complaint is that all of the air vents appeared to have mould growing on them - a bit offsetting. Otherwise the restaurant was clean.
The menu was amazing. Everyone loved their food. I was out on many different albums and had a blast rocking to some good music over some good drinks and vibes. Food : 5/5
Stopped in for a drink and supper, unfortunately we were seated with a glass of water and no one never came back. After 30 minutes of waiting, seated right beside the bar at eyes view of the servers, we left. Very disappointed.
Top notch food and drink. Great atmosphere. Love the vinyl memorabilia - for those of us of a certain age, it brings back fond memories. Worth your time, to be sure.
Stumbled in here mostly by accident while looking for vegan food, we were both delightfully surprised by the menu; tons of great veggie options. My partner loved the vegan tacos, and the poke bowl was AMAZING. Lots of cool brews on tap; my light ale tasted more like a hoppy IPA, but I am not a beer expert! Overall highly recommend, great spot. Vegetarian options: Tons of great options!
Good menu, good selection of local beer and some outdoor seating. Very cool place.
Great little place to go to for a nice selection of beers. Food is mediocre but would revisit for the drinks. Friendly staff and nice chill atmosphere.
Wow!!!! What flavor!!!! Great service!!!! The atmosphere of this restaurant was just amazing! Our server was super friendly and the food was delicious!! Definitely recommend this place for family & friends! 10/10
Wow, amazing food at decent prices. Fantastic vegetarian options. We loved the Korean corn cheese pizza, broccoli bites, grinder, and tofu tacos. Even the side salad was fantastic with a creamy but not gloopy dressing and marinated cucumbers to add a real kick. Open and welcoming vibe with hundreds of old records you can flip through and bring to the bar and they ll play a whole side for you. The staff were charming and helpful and had actual personalities; none of that plastic Hi my name is Dave and I ll be your server stuff. We were only in PEI 24 hours and went here twice because we couldn t imagine finding anywhere better. Vegetarian options: Not the same old boring pub food of veggie burgers etc. Dietary restrictions: Very willing to accommodate vegans.
Loved it! Service was fantastic!!
Great service and apps! Loved the options of picking out some vinyl to play and enjoy while there!
Good selection of local beers and the churro donut is delicious.
Nice spot. We ate on the patio. Chicken Ceaser Toast was awesome.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough. People there are amazing - engaged, friendly, knowledgeable. Music and vinyl connection is cool. Beers are yummy and great selection, and the food off the charts good. Anyone who can make Broccoli Bombs taste like bbq chicken wings gets my Michelin star. Go!
couple of points highlighted! dog friendly patio, modded burger, excellent manner and service. been here with family and my husky on the patio at 12.25. server is well dressed, and food was fast. the pulled pork burger is juicy and tender. modded fries with coconut curry mixed with wine is perfect for poutine! 100% recommend. two shewers seems kinda exp for a dish, but the taste is making me satisfied. tender, sweet and pepper taste is like northern asian style. whoever makes the recipe sure is something. this place was not that busy plus good manners. it derserve more popularity and good reviews. Vegetarian options: veggies signs is well displayed. Kid-friendliness: kids burger and veggie is labeled.
Friendly staff, great beverage choices, I had the broccoli appetizer and it was fantastic. Huge record selection available allowing customers to choose tracks to play.
I wanted to post a pic of the peirogies but ate them too quickly. They were fantastic, 10/10 would eat them every day. I think Ill go back tonight and order them again!! EDIT went back for lunch the next day and got thr lunch Platter wrap and fries. Man, it was tasty!!
Restaurant bar
Cool vibe with great music. The craft beer and food are excellent and flavourful but heavily focused on fried foods.
Pick your record and play it. So awesome
Each time my wife and I have been here, the staff have been amazing, the food has been incredible, and the ambiance/vinyl had been a hit! This is not only our favorite place to eat when visiting PEI, but this is our favorite restaurant period! Vegetarian options: Vegan options are so delicious, and good portion sizes. Menu changes semi-frequently so always new options to choose. Have never been let down.
The food was absolutely fantastic, our waitress suggested we order the broccoli bomb and the mac and cheese and I would recommend them to anyone. The letdown was on the beer, they didnt have flights and the beer we were recommended were okay at best.
Great location , very kind staff and helpful
Good food at a lower price then the neighboring spots. Laid back atmosphere Allows pets. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options
I loved the concept behind Hopyard when they first opened. Love going here for small plates to share, and you dont mind taking a risk on something with ingredients you dont instantly recognize because of the portion size with price to match. I hadnt been in for a while but I was surprised to find the menu prices doubled, while the portions still seem small but with a side added. I had never before left without raving about how good my meal was, but this last visit I found the food kind of bland and mediocre. The service was good, music was good but Im not sure Ill be back soon...
Was in for drinks. I know it is a beer bar, but the mixed drinks were terrible. The mint was really wilted.
As always a dining experience at HopYard! We have been there numerous times and have never been disappointed with our meal. Service was awesome as well.
Cool decor with lots of fun veggie+ beer options
Hopyard has always the best options for beer. Always doing some collabs and the staff is always extremely friendly. Always happy to be here
The best beer selection on tap on PEI, and great food. Great folks, too - total package! Always on the list of places to recommend.
Amazing food and beer, friendly staff. I love the dill pickle dressing they put on the frys, it was delicious ..went a second time and was sooooo impressed
The owner is the best! The steak sandwich was delicious, amazing beer/drink selection, a definite gem. Highly recommended!
This place has a great steak sandwich, great beers and absolutely fantastic service!
The menu is excellent and well executed, great local beer selection Bbq tofu and brisket sandwich , some of the best fries ever !!! Support this place!
Phenomenal place for some craft beers and delicious food. Bartender was an absolute gem and also a phenomenal singer/musician! Great atmosphere and music!
Looks like a great place but they all seem lost on who does what. The food was good but didnt describe if it was spicy or sour or sweet. The servers didnt seem to be able to answer any questions. Would I go back....there are too many other great places to eat and enjoy your night out so no. Its too bad because it could be great if they cared.
Schnitzel and noodles were bland and flavorless. I would not recommend it. Although, the autobahn sausage was really good!
Mike, one of the owners, was very friendly and has a great personality. He went the extra mile. Unique menu with tasty selections. Love that they have vinyl playing all the time. A good place to give your business to. Vegetarian options: They have marked selections on the menu with your dietary needs in mind. Parking out front was good.
Amazing vibe, amazing staff and amazing food. 100% recommend the Spudcakes, so delicious!
Tasty burger but very expensive
This place has some great bites and a great variety of beer. One of the guys at my table asked for a sour beer and they didnt have any in stock. Our waiter went to a couple of neighboring brewery and restaurants to see if he could find one. No luck, but an amazing thing for him to do. Hats off to exceptional customer service.
This place was pretty cool. The food was fantastic. Not your usual menu either. Tantalize your tastebuds and try something new!!
Had a quick meal with my wife on a Friday night while in town. First time here will be back for sure. Pork belly was fantastic.
Food is good , nice spot
This was the perfect retreat on a hot June afternoon in Charlottetown. I d read about their vinyl collection and found the experience of leafing through albums recalled a forgotten, now nostalgic sensation of muscle memory. The bartender was very kind and tolerated my Otis Redding selections. If I had it to do again, I d stick with the Copper Bottom Red, but go with Joan Armitrading for the music.
Im not much of a beer person but the food here is INSANELY good. I was very surprised as their menu options were very different from what I am use to but everything tasted great.
Food was fantastic. The ailoi they put on their fries is to die for
Unique menu + Great selection of beers = You are set to have a good time with friends. Nice environment and friendly environment, definitely recommend it :)
Really nice spot
Great food. Fantastic beer. Loved the atmosphere.
One of the better meals Ive had in a while... Follow my food page on Instagram and Facebook @TheYGKFoodie
I am quite hard to blow away with a restaurant experience, but this one DEFINITELY did. The Lone Oak South Shore Sour was PHENOMENAL, the BBQ burger on the menu at the time was to die for, and the fries were amazingly salty with a delicious and tantalizing garlic aioli. The cocktail selection was sub par, but everything else was faaaaaaantastic
Great food, great service.
Great local beer selection.
Excellent food pair with an experienced & attentive waitstaff, great selection of vegan and vegetarian food options.
Excellent vinyl selection, very neat menu switch ups. Good service. I like it!
Amazing food!
Went here for dinner had the brioche burger. It was the best burger I ve ever had and I eat mine plain. Also had the tempura broccoli, delicious!! Would highly recommend this place. We will definitely be going back.
Beers it good. Staff is very welcoming.
This restaurant cannot be beat for affordability, and selection. The food is fantastic and the menu changes every two weeks. It is divided into meat and vegetarian dishes for quick reference. As a vegetarian I love this. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Also the beer selection is killer. Lots of island and maritime beers and ciders to try. Definitely a place to try.
Beer aplenty, good tunes. Altogether great.
The positive: The absolute best house salad I ve ever had, hands down. What a welcomed surprise! The negative: There wasn t any choice for non-alcoholic drinks that weren t beer (besides water) :(
Got the takeout order wrong. Beer isn t worth the $$
Overpriced. Food is gross. Beer is meh and way overpriced.
Wonderful spot - cool digs, beers, vinyl, good vibe, solid food ideas, lovely beer tenders! We went back three times in one week while we stayed.
Absolutely impeccable food!! We had a vegetarian, and someone who is celiac at our table and both of them were able to enjoy multiple dishes. I personally had the lamb curry, jerk chicken, Caribbean cauliflower and fish chowder. We devoured it all! Our waitress Kate was extremely patient and catered to the dietary restrictions as if they were her own. We are going to come back right before we leave.
Excellent service
I would give this place 3 stars for the fact they have the copper bottom beers as they have been my favourite brewery on PEI so far. The waitress was great, fast and friendly and I was always taken care of. Water refills were always there. It would have been a 5 stars if my food was good, but I really found my dish was very bland. I ordered the noodles, it comes with a few veggies in it and covered in a jerk sauce. Sounds pretty decent? But it really had no flavour at all. Just a nice comfortable heat but no flavour. I would try something else on the menu if I found myself back in Charlottetown.
An interesting experience. Service was slow on a Friday but that didn t bother me because the staff was knowledgable and friendly. I tried the blueberry radler and found it tasty and a good balance of sweetness. The fried chicken tacos were juicy and flavourful and I didn t mind the mess. The Shanghai noodles weren t your typical udon noodles but had a good spice. I found the seating the most uncomfortable (the high top bar chairs meant for slipping off and having sweaty legs). The table space itself was also cramped. For these reasons I wasn t comfy and couldn t wait to leave. It was also unreasonably hot.
Went for lunch with my mother and pregnant fiance. I had the Tofu Brisket Sandwich (which was covered in a tasteless sauce), and split Big Mac Fries and Tempura Broccoli with my fiance. We ended up getting food poisoning, and are now at the QEH waiting to see a doctor. Food safety is an important issue for pregnant women, and in the worst cases, food poisoning can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or premature delivery... I havent had bad experiences much at all here (maybe once before), but this experience has sadly caused us to reconsider coming here for the forseeable future. However, the wait staff was really friendly, and knowledgeable, though i had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for a refill (only 2 tables were in the restaurant).
Amazing food, good vibes and great music. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommend the Lamb on the bottom left corner of the photo, I ordered it and my husband ended up stealing my plate after having a taste
Sat outside on a random Wednesday night in August. Lots of people moving around and great to people watch. Beer was pricy but good selection. Staff were nice and helpful when making a selection.
Had an amazing night at this bar. The bartenders are great, the service is excellent, the selection and quality is awesome, and the vibe is top notch. Would highly recommend stopping by. Request She Bop.
Very cool spot, nice servers, good vibes all around. More seasonally-appropriate options on tap would be ideal. Beyond impressive that a chef can come up with 25-30 new dishes every two weeks. Even if several of them have no business being served to others.
Always an enjoyable experience at The Hopyard. Their menu changes every two weeks so always a new culinary selection. Plus with about a dozen taps, the suds are always flowing
The food was outstanding! The vegetarian/vegan options are some of the best Ive ever had. My only reason for being a 4 star instead of 5 was that our waitress was not incredibly friendly or attentive. Otherwise, the food is delicious here!
Good decor and theme. I ordered the lamb noodles which was missing feta. My friend ordered the pad Thai broc. It was only deep fried broccoli dressed as pad Thai. It would be helpful if they mentioned that there are no noodles in the description. My other friend ordered cheesy fried rice which had no cheese at all.
Literally still sitting here as I write this. If you like great beer, love amazing food, a good vibe and overall chill atmosphere with good music, this is for you. I got the distinct impression that no matter what you pick from their menu is going to be simply delicious. And the service is great. Really amazing place!!! (I was way too hungry to take photos of my food, sorry)
Was craving for chicken wings and little bit sad when I found out they change menu every two weeks and chicken wings were on last week menu. HOWEVER, turned out to be sooo good. Love the pork *chef kiss*. There are plenty of choices for beer which overwhelmed me a lil bit. Overall so sastisfied
Amazing food. Great service. Definitely worth checking out!
Enjoyed some appetizers and beers with some new friends. Great food and excellent beer. The staff was so nice. Would definiteky return.
We drove out as a group to tour the East coast of Canada and this was our favourite restaurant by far! Lots of great food and options for vegans/vegetarians in the group! The vibe of the place was fun, vinyl on shelves, good music and the staff were good-natured and friendly!
A great place for vegans and gluten free peeps! SOO good.
This is a great casual dining experience! Wonderful selection of craft beers, paired with delicious new takes on traditional pub fare. And classic vinyl sounds with no skipping of the deep tracks.
So yummy!
Great place to spend evening. Have good collection of local beers. Check menu before you go they have different menu each two weeks.
Great beer choices, great vinyl options for the listen; staff are genuinely awesome. This was a great afternoon spent in Charlottetown- even got to wax poetic with a city council member at the bar . . . we solved all the provinces challenges . . .
This eclectic, interesting establishment is a pleasure to the taste buds. The beer choices are wide and varied with a focus on independent, micro-breweries. The menu not only offers great choices, but its a pleasure to read. The service was friendly and quick, despite the busy lunch time crowd. The food itself was superb; it had the taste and appearance of it being thoughtfully prepared. This place deserves recognition not just for its support of local food and beverages, but being wonderfully different.
My friends and I loved the fact that many menu items are gluten free!
We shared a few dishes and then were all delicious! Our favourites were the grits and brocoli tempura.
The food is super and excellent and very affordable. The menu is diversified and it changes regularly so that you keep having different choices everytime you visit. The staff are nice and lovely. I have been there many time. I will be there many more times.
Tasty food, nice atmosphere, great space, and friendly staff!
Awesome food!!!
chow mein quesadilla was delicious
When Hopyard first opened and proclaimed that they were bringing something new to Charlottetown, I went with a friend and ordered every single dish at once. 6yrs later, Ive been several times and everything from the vibe to the food lacks creativity, lacks soul and lacks any kind of the vibe they proclaimed to procure. The food is predictably over salted to appeal to alcoholics. The music and vibe is cliche. The lack of alcohol options is ridiculous for a pub/bar. (They only carry 1 kind of Vodka and its terrible!) The patrons are predictably the unsophisticated locals who lack the skills to entertain at home yet wish to be seen in public. You can tell by their body language that theyre more aware of their surroundings than the conversations at the table. The staff are accutely aware that theyre selling a vibe and they understand the hypocrisy of selling something old while marketing it as new. Ask a staff member simple questions about a dish, a drink or how to queue up a record and youre met with unexcited and tired answers. There seems to be more passion by the owners into figuring out whats marketable rather than for the restaurant itself. It seems as if the owners somehow packaged an awkward moment and use the atmosphere of that awkward moment to declare theres some kind of prestige for being there and thats a justification for $20 barely shareable fries. My guess is they wanted to steal marketshare from Upstreet yet create a cozy/regulars vibe like the Triangle. Nearly every spot in town has a regulars scene because their layout allows it. Hipsteryard wants you to think of it like a 90s basement record store but in reality its more like a food truck with a cover charge.
