Located in the heart of historic Charlottetown, The Gahan House serves a delicious menu with handcrafted ales brewed onsite. Live music, fresh East Coast oysters, and authentic PEI hospitality create the perfect brewpub atmosphere. With six locations across Atlantic Canada, Gahan House has become an East Coast staple dedicated to creating memorable experiences. We began as a brewpub, and we stay true to our beginnings by having a brew system in-house, ensuring that the beer we serve is as fresh as possible. With a delicious menu, handcrafted ales, and fresh East Coast oysters in our welcoming Gahan atmosphere, you will feel right at home.
We visited on Halloween so it was rather quiet. The dog and hockey player (costumes) were very accommodating and entertaining as well! Food was spot on and the atmosphere was so cozy. The dog/server recommended a hard root beer and we loved it! Great beer selection too. Highly recommend!!
Loved the building! Our server was super nice too. We were slightly disappointed that the tacos only came in a pair instead of 3 like most other places ($18 is too expensive for 2 tacos). It didn’t satisfy my husbands appetite so he had to get another dish to eat. The food was excellent though. I loved the salad!
Pleasant atmosphere and good service. Lots of diverse food options. Not sure What to make of the five-bite $11 chowder upgrade with hardly any broth, felt quite skimpy :( but can't let that small disappointment alone dictate the review. Would happily try again.
All I can say is if you’re in Charlottetown don’t leave before visiting here. The beer selection is varied and all to die for. The brewery for their seasonal and experimental brews is downstairs on the way to the restrooms and they shuck oysters on the bar as you order them…come on what more could you hope for. Well how about great service from people who know their beer and their food. It gets busy…but it deserves to!
A great pub in the heart of Charlottetown! Delicious cold beer and cocktails and able to accommodate 9 of us at a busy time… that’s awesome! Great service and tasty food make this a must try if you’re in the area!! Also, you can find their beer all over the island which made it an easy choice at a lot of different venues!! Thanks again!! Zeke
I had fish tacos. Fish was over cooked. Tacos were heavily sauced. French fries must have been the last of a batch because they accompanied by a 1/4 cup of salt. Wife had chicken salad. Chicken was leather. Ordered two grilled cheese kids meals. Cucumber slices came complete with mold. Grilled cheese were very good (I ate half of one). Asked for fries to replace moldy vegetables. They were fresh, hot and very tasty. Beer was excellent!! Girl singing across the road was heavenly.
Had a lovely anniversary dinner here. We loved the sangria and the blueberry ale. The vegan burrito bowl was excellent. My wife loved the lobster roll as well. Nice atmosphere. Attentive service.
I absolutely loved my meal here! The oysters were so fresh and my favourite were the Raspberry Points! I also loved trying the Taco Battles special! The tacos were so delicious and the root veggies on the side were super flavourful! This cheesecake I had for dessert was soooo decadent! 10/10 meal from start to finish!
A high quality pub with delicious food and amazing staff. Definitely get the nachos and a flight of beer!
The drinks are spicy pricy these days but the fish and chips are nearly always a hit!
We liked the food, the beer, and the restaurant itself.
Excellent service, excellent oysters.
Very good burger
Great place in Charlottetown. Good beer, good food. Poutine was fantastic. It was/is lobster season so the lobster roll was good.
Nice beers. Im not sure about the food
The Gahan House is an excellent pub for the beers, food, and service. The burgers and fish tacos are top notch and fries are crispy and tasty. If you are there in the autumn season, try the Pumpkin Ale! Perfect fall treat for those who need to take the edge off after a long week of work.
Friendly staff - our waitress was attentive and cheerful.
Beautiful restaurant in the heart of Charlottetown. Their beers are good. We had the fish cakes (a little too salty) as an appetizer. The mac&cheese with lobster was very tasty and the seafood chowder was good (but missing a little bit of fish). Service was excellent. If you re in town, don t hesitate and give this place a try!
I visited for lunch and had a fried chicken sandwich. It was just fried chicken sandwiched between buns, so I felt it was a little unsatisfactory as a sandwich. Its a restaurant with a dignified atmosphere, so I thought it would be nicer at night. (July 2024)
Great space with delicious craft beer. The pints and oysters deal is fantastic and our waiter Ryan was super friendly and attentive!
First time here visiting from Halifax, same great beer, same great service, Callie was also an amazing server. 10/10 would recommend
Good beer, Cajun Ceasar was horrible. Friendly service though but nobody ever asked us if our food was okay. Great terrace
Great vibe / atmosphere inside and the outside patio. Best priced drinks and selection
Raw oysters were good, its a raw oyster, pretty hard to fail there and good presentation. For the cooked oysters, yummy but same time very overpowering flavour choices. If you want oysters dont recommend since you dont actually taste any oyster. I was hoping to taste oyster. For a brewery, good beer but it was really surprising that nothing other than beer batter actually had beer in it. So dont expect a lot of originality on the menue being a brewery. You have beer and lobster, I can think of half a dozen dishes off the top of my head. Stout lobster dip would have been nice as a start. 2 flights (8 tiny beers) and 2 mixed drinks with 4 raw and 12 cooked oysters was 157.32 with a 15% tip. Summary. Good beer, meh oysters, meh originality for what the place is and a bit pricey.
Good food. (Falafel tacos, caesar salad, and oysters were very good.) Excellent beer, some of it brewed on-site. Friendly service. Nice outdoor seating and good vibe at the bar.
I brought our friends from the prairies to Gahan House for dinner . It was their first time visiting the east coast . We loved the great atmosphere, comfy seating and decor . Our waiter was awesome ..very attentive and friendly . Food was also pretty good. I am a seafood chowder junkie and have tried many chowders and I must say the flavor and consistency of the chowder was perfect and so delicious until I quickly realized that you used tiny frozen scallops from god knows where instead of our beautiful maritime digby scallops. My husband had the lobster sandwich and it had quite a bit of lobster inside but unfortunatly it was doused with pepper which overpowered any flavor the lobster may have had .
Excellent pub. Excellent food. Live music
Amazing service !!
WOW! Stellar meal! Shared the nachos, which were light and crispy and had lots of toppings. We had the Buttermilk chicken and fries. The chicken was so so light and tender and the batter was extremely crispy and fluffy and full of flavour. We also couldn t stop eating the fries, they were exceptional! The servers were friendly and attentive and made helpful recommendations. We are already planning our next visit! HIGHLY recommend!
Just WOW! Amazing craft beer and the most AMAZING food. My husband had the beef melt and it was so good I decided that I m coming back so I can have it for dinner. The service and atmosphere made it even better!
Nice welcoming crew. 100% recommended.
this is an appreciation post for the heroic bartender that saved our lives yesterday: the beautiful girl behind the bar! there was a herd of drones that openly fired into the restaurant but that did not matter because the bartender deflected the shots with a beer bottle. Thankfully no one was injured due to the dutiful heroism from this pillar of our community
Great place, service amazing x
Decided to come into the Gahan House as I had previously tried the Blueberry Wheat Ale from the LCBO and quite enjoyed it. The server Sarah, was awesome. She provided me a sample of several of the beers to try; and talked me through what they were all about. We did not have any food; so I cannot comment about that. Hope we have time to come back again on this trip and try the food here.
A great pub located in a really neat setting; the brewed on-site, in the basement. The service is very friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious! I treated myself to the brown bag fish and chips, which is fish and chips (haddock( served in a brown bag! Treated myself to a Radoberry Sour to gave with it, also tasty.
I recently enjoyed a great mothers day meal with family. This was my first time here. The Gahan was able to accommodate our large group of over 10. I had the Gahan Grilly with fries and shared an order of nachos with two others. All of the food was amazing! Our server, Calissa was great, as well! I will definitely be back!!!
The best pub/restaurant in Charlottetown? Yes. The best pub/restaurant in PEI? Yes. The best pub/restaurant in Atlantic Canada? Yes. If you have a Gahan within 250 miles, and if you haven t gone on a pilgrimage to visit it yet, I don t know what you are doing with your life. There are two types of people on this planet, those who have gone to Gahan, and those who haven t. Gahan is king. Go to Gahan.
I really enjoyed my time there and the food was great. The atmosphere was also great as I loved the candle on the table. The only thing I think that our waitress could have done would be just a little more attentive to us. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints, and I would definitely come back again. My wife and I had their burger love, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. 8/10
We were recently in for a birthday dinner with a group of 12. We booked the reservation well in advance so expected they would be more than able to accommodate us. When we arrived, we didn t see our waitress for 15-20 minutes. When she finally took our drink order, and didn t seem very patient with our unorganized group, it was about 30 minutes to receive our drinks. We ordered our food which took another 30-40 minutes, and when it came out, only 3 items came. Over the next 15 minutes, the rest of the food slowly came out, except for one dish which was missed altogether. We weren t offered refills on drinks, and we sat there for about 10 minutes after our food arrived with no cutlery before they finally brought some. We had hardly finished eating when the bills were in front of us, and it should be said that none of the bills were divided correctly. Unfortunately a bad experience at a typically good restaurant, and luckily the food was good when it finally came out, but will not be returning with a group as our experience was very poor.
Nice place to hang out, the food portion is abit small, the tastes are pretty good tho
Typical pub setting Have visited both in a small group setting and with a larger group. This review is based on better than a dozen visits to the Food: very good menu with lots of variety for both experienced and inexperienced tastebuds. Will say someone at our table invariably always order the Brown Bag Fish n Chips. It s great but take care .depending on the day, the fish can be quite greasy (not always but sometimes). Prices are in-line with surrounding businesses. Not exceedingly high, but not low either. Atmosphere: Lunch. daytime or standard weekday evening visits are conducive to a relaxing conversational atmosphere. On busy nights it can be quite the party atmosphere and grow beyond noisy. Music is usually at a level that necessitates raising ones voice to be heard across one s own table which easily moves to the point of shouting in order to heard above the hubbub of the party atmosphere. Gahan House is a pub style venue with really nice layout inside: seperate rooms and areas that afford some sense of privacy. Drinking is naturally par for the course and there is lots of local and beyond variety on the drink menu. Over the course of a few visits have noticed there maybe be some issues with the over-serving of patrons pitchers of this n shots of that served in short periods of time. Hmmmm? Might perhaps be time to review the responsible beverage servers course?
Great spot, quick and friendly service, quality food, and classic pub atmosphere. A Charlottetown classic
The beef melt was absolutely delicious! Loved the vibrant vibe, especially with the live music. Overall, one of the top spots I hit during my short trip to PEI. Food
Very nice napkins, would highly recommend
The oysters were so good!
Gahan has gone down hill the past number of years. The food 5 10 years ago used to be so good. Now they use too many/too strong of spices. They are too experimental with flavour profiles that don t work. Nothing on their menu is reliable anymore. There is no consistency in their food. You can never tell if it s going to be good.
I had a lovely time with my Mother, dining in the window, being served by Sarah. Our server made the experience very wonderful with her cheery and attentive attitude. We look forwards to going back when we are on PEI again.
Very pleasant atmosphere.
Found this in a thrift shop in Edmonton. You know gahan is good when a glass makes it across canada! Lol
We went there in the first time tonight only because we had gift cards. We are so disappointed in a food quality there. For example, the side which calls vegetables - WHOLE AND WITH SKIN ON CARROTS AND PARSNIPS ( in total 1 big and 5 mini mini ones ). They were not diced or NOTHING. It was really disappointing. After that, the main dish also not good. I could taste only mayonnaise. I guess it was the base for the sauce that was used for meat. Very over priced place. The waitress was really good. To the staff on the floor there is no questions. Parking: No parking. Only a few street spots.
Good selection of beer and food. Very friendly service too.
This very traditional pub has great atmosphere. Our group had Fish Cakes, Seafood Chowder, and the Ring Bearer Burger. The burger was a huge disappointment as the beef patty came burned. We were puzzled that such badly cooked item could come from the same kitchen that has produced amazing food in past visits, and the great fish cakes & chowder. Not to repeat anytime soon despite the great beer.
Was in PEI for 1 night and upon recommendations we ate at Gahan house. It was busy so we had to wait for about an hour to get a table. It was really hot inside the restaurant, no relief from the heat outside. I was with my family of 4 and everyone of our meals was terrible. Fried chicken sandwich was overcooked, burnt actually. Fries were cold. Did not even enjoy the salad. Portions were very small and it was a fortune to eat here. So many other places to eat, wish we tried somewhere else.
Ryan (our server) was great - my wife loved the fish cakes (gluten free to boot!) and the pan fried haddock was equally good!
We had a great night at Gahan! It was a busy night and our server Melissa was very attentive! Thanks for a great night.
The Brown Bag fish and chips are delish! One of my favs!
Excellent seafood . Try the seafood chowder.
We tried their blueberry ale somewhere else, but had to go and try it here on tap! Drinks were amazing, staff was friendly, and food was great.
Unreal service from Maddy!
Favourite penne place !!
The Gahan House in Charlotte, PEI is a treat not to miss. The food and the service is exceptional. The beer flights are well worth the tasting! Its a culinary delight.
I had never been this disappointed of an PEI food place....or any maritime restaurant. Especially we had came here many times in the past 10 years. It was always so great. All locals told us to go there try their ribs and steak back then. Todays visit ruined all the good impressions from before. It was not busy since it was Tuesday night around 9pm. yet nobody ever came checked on us if we need more water or how was the food. The chicken wings was over cooked tasted like burned brunches so we asked them to change it. Came back 10% better , just bones with very dry fried meat, taste like paper. Portion is also 1/3 less than years ago. All the girls seems friendly and nice. Lot more better bar and hosting. Will never come again. 88$ for 2 of us. Worst experience ever. I been coming to PEI 2-3 times every year since 2007... This is just... Its sad to see this place fall apart
Loved the food at the quaint local pub. Seafood chowder was loaded with mussels.
Fantastic service, delicious food, and great atmosphere!! I would go back, for sure.
A friend of mine from PEI - well actually he s not my friend, he s my husband s friend, so my friend by association - recommended this place and we re so glad he did. Delicious fish cakes, tuna tartare and fish tacos. Our waitress was great and the service was excellent! Highly recommend!
Excellent food and service!
Lovely restaurant, delicious food, amazing atmosphere
Great place to have some fantastic beer and food. The pretzel and chilli cheese starters and fish and chips were delicious. Great venue, great service for a reasonable price. Would recommend.
Had some really great oysters. The home brewed beer is excellent and the fish and chips are excellent. Thoroughly recommend and will definitely return next time I m in town
Atmosphere inside is awesome. Vibes of an old Irish pub, with the sounds and loud chatter of patrons, loved it. Beer and cider options were great! Our server was crazy good, cant remember his name, but super smiley and cheerful. Also very knowledgeable about dietary restrictive options. Loved it here and would gladly come back. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options available.
Not a place for people of colour, I guess. A rarity in P.E.I. We asked to be seated out on the patio and flagged two waitresses to take our order. One said she would be right back, but never came. After 20 minutes of waiting, we decided to walk away.
We liked it. The food was good. The service was excellent. It was very busy when we were there and they found us a seat right away.
You must try their housmade beers. Several layers of tastes. The food was also good, we had the cod fish dish and cod fish taco and both were really good. It is hard to find a non-deep-fried fish and without batter, but their fish is lightly fried only and perfectly seasoned.
Everything was outstanding especially the service
Stop in for a drink in between meals while exploring Charlottetown. Great beer flight options. I d recommend the podium flight. My wife really liked the tropical popsicle. Didn t try any food but the menu looks like it s worth checking out next visit. Very clean. Friendly staff. Interesting architecture.
My wife and I stopped by to pick up some beers to take away. The bar looked so inviting that we decided to stay and have a few drinks. We didn t eat but the food looked great. This place has such a wonderful vibe we re definitely going back. Most of all , Sarah behind the bar is awesome. She s as busy as heck but somehow manages to display her wonderful charm and quick wit. She s just awesome
Oysters on the half with choice of beer would have hit the spot. Place was hopping and had I known we were going to be moved like cattle, I would have foregone the oysters. My husband wound up eating them after the entre . Delicious fish tacos and fish and chips!! Service was friendly and personable. Next time I won t order the meals til we get the drinks and apps.
The most oily and salty food you could possibly eat. The fries would coated in salt and beyond crispy. Every bite of the fish was an oil explosion in our mouths. The chicken was inedible and had to be sent back. The staff was fantastic when dealing with the chicken dish that we could not eat. That being said it took 20 minutes for them to take our drink order. The beers are phenomenal and the ambience is as well. Worth stopping in for a drink but I would stray from the menu.
Always good beer and the pretzel bits coated in butter dipped in a beer cheese sauce were delightful.
It was OK. The pork belly tacos and the side of potatoes was extremely oily.
It was okay. Got the beef melt, friends got the fish and chips, and porkbelly tacos. Beef melt and fish and chips were good, pork tacos were too oily for me.
Loved the chicken curry with half rice and fries. Definitely recommend. My spouse had the oysters but complained the calamari was too breaded.
Fresh fish
This was my second visit to Gahan House Charlottetown and my second disappointment. The first visit I sat inside, the atmosphere wonderful the food was good, but the service was terrible. After ordering and receiving my food, I was ignored. It was a little busy, which could have been a minor factor, but not acceptable, the beer was great. Fast forward to lunch last weekend, it was not busy at all, we asked to sit outside and after placing our order, it was over a half hour before we received our drink order and a further 20 mins to get our food. The lettuce in my Chicken Caesar salad was warm and limp (maybe due to sitting under the warmer) and the chicken dry. The other food (Beet Salad and Burrito bowl) was good as was the beer again After 2 visits, I wouldn t recommend or return to the Charlottetown location, but will still purchase their beer from the liquor store.
Mid July, on a Tuesday around lunchtime... We sat down and told the hostess to get us started with wine. We were told she would tell our server and get us water right away. Our server showed up ten minutes later, still no water. We ordered our food and wine at this point. 20 minutes later still no water or wine and the people who sat dow 20 minutes after we did already have water.... finally get our wine, still no water... finally got our water 45 minutes after we sat down.... When we got there it wasnt busy, so the time it took for service was very disappointing. It got busier after we got there but it still shouldnt have taken that long I find their portion sizes getting smaller... especially the appetizers...
I wasnt hungry so I only used the bar. It was a very pleasant shop. There were a lot of local beers, so I tried them all.
Had a late lunch here in a hot afternoon in July. The food was excellent! They also have their own cider - Six Hours in the Sun. The cider was also really good. We sat on the patio. The entertainment was watching large trucks back into the narrow alley across the street without hitting anything. We literally clapped for one driver. The server had a long way to walk to get to us but that didn t impact the service at all. I plan to return soon! Dietary restrictions: They have a gluten-free menu online.
The seafood chowder is what seafood chowder should be. One of, if not thee best I ve ever had.
Good food, good beer, good times. What more can I say?
Beef stroganoff and beef melt chefs kiss!
Great drinks and good food
We sat outside and listened to music by a local woman who was good. We had a dozen oysters and a plate of mussels. Then we had the best fish stew, which hit the spot on a cool evening. We had to try out a few of their beers and really enjoyed the experience.
Great beer and service. Irish pub vibe. We were sitting at the bar and get to try a few of their home brew Gahan beer. They also sells cans there. Had the $37 for 10 oysters + 2 half pint beer. Good deal, however the oysters were just ok. Still had a good time there though.
A great meal! We sat inside on a busy Thursday evening and were seated right away! Enjoyed the atmosphere and menu choices. The beef melt, fish cakes and coconut curry were all delicious! The seafood chowder was uniquely presented and equally delicious! Dont miss out on the chocolate Stout brownie! Devine!
Kid-friendliness: Childrens menu and coloring
Such a genuinely kind and attentive staff. I took my daughter there for her birthday and it was an awesome experience. All restaurants should send their staff to Gahan House for Customer service training. I guarantee you will have a successful business going forward.
Chowder is my go to. This was the best seafood chowder I ve ever had!! I only got the cup but going back for the bowl maybe 2!! Our server was also excellent! Very friendly, funny and helpful!
Excellent service and atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. Loved everything
A must for anyone in Charlottetown, make a reservation to avoid disappointment. We had the fish and chips, fish cakes, and nachos. The salsa served with the nachos is made in house and you can purchase it, so delicious! All of items were excellent and reasonably priced. We also enjoyed two pints of their in house brewed beers.
Light in the restaurant was dim, it was hard to read the menu. The music was so loud, the server had to make us repeat our order several times because she couldn t hear us, we could barely talk to one another. The service was slow. The food was bland and boring.
Amazing service from Hailey! Our food came out in less than 10 minutes. We had tuna tartare and pork belly tacos. Best service and food we have had all summer in Charlottetown. Beautiful experience
Hade the pork belly Tacos. Superb!
Simply WOW. The beers were really good, the blueberry ale is to die for!! The service was excellent we had some great recommendations from our server. The oysters were fantastic. The setting is absolutely gorgeous in an authentic old house on a beautiful street. A must go in Charlottetown
WOW! No words. Amazing service. I have never experienced anything quite like this. 5 stars!
Really very good, fast, efficient, friendly atmosphere, well be back.
Took my Wife out for her 38th Birthday! First time coming to Gahan House! We had the Nachos to start and some Grigio, then we had chicken and chorizo Stir-Fry as the Gluten free option And the Pork Belly Tacos with Fries! Was delightfully surprised with the food! The portion sizes were pretty large which left us unable to order dessert sadly . Atmosphere was great! The Gahan house is a great spot to go, the menu doesn t have that much for selection but sometimes too many choices aren t good either. Dietary restrictions: They had some options for Gluten friendly meals as a variation of some of the menu choices. Had to scan a QR code on the menu to get the Gluten free and vegetarian menu but it was sufficiently enough!
The food was delicious, the service was polite and friendly...I would recommend 5 out of 5
Stopped in for lunch on a whim, had a great time! Their beers were some of the best we had on the island. Especially their sours. Fish cakes were amazing!
Great food, drinks and atmosphere! Will definitely go again!
Great selection of beers and the rotating small batch taps were very interesting.
As soon as we entered at 7pm Friday you heard the music. We were seated with our group of 10 and it was difficult to have a conversation with the music at the level it was at. The general consensus of the food that we were served was fair, over salted and presentation was plain.
Never fails to satisfy. Couldnt stop to photo the mac & cheese with braised beef but did manage to snap a pic of the banana bread pudding with caramel ice cream! Great service as well!
Bad service! We got to the restaurant at 5:35pm and the restaurant was not busy at all. It may of had three or four tables. We ordered and waited an hour for our food! It was 6:30pm when our food came to the table! The table besides us ordered about 15 minutes after us and got their food before us. The food was good but definitely not worth the hour wait!
Had the three cheers burger and fries. They were great filling and tasty. Had the Lawn Chair beer. Great. Great staff nice waiter (Ryan). There was a couple who got engaged in there this morning. The 2 guy with them cheered like crazy. They bought me a beer. They will make Great memories. Wish them the best going forward. Great place to do this also. Thanks for a great time. Cheers Sam
Cranberry Sour Seasonal beer was fantastic. Right blend of sour, sweet, and bitter. The food was good but a bit standard fair. Service made up for the food and made.the overall experience great.
Service was awesome. Blueberry beer was awesome and baked oysters were very flavourful. Fun atmosphere with live music.
Good food and excellent service.
Five stars because this is the best Caesar I have ever had! Thank you Gahan House !
We went on a rainy Tuesday and it was almost for ourselves. Service was awesome and friendly. Beers were delicious and the mussels amazing
It was really nice to see so many vegetarian options on a menu.. We really enjoyed our meal and drinks! Our server was lovely and the atmosphere made for a great night out
Food was good
Mostly was inspired to write this by excellent music I m not typically into the whole live music thing while eating, unless it s an old-timey jazz restaurant, but man- the musical choices of the acoustic musician, love on top , some Otis Redding, and then some Leon Bridges very talented, casual and classy vibes here. Perfect place to unwind. The beer was fresh, and oysters also. Staff prompt and friendly. Would come again next time I m in town
We just had dinner here, amazing service wonderful staff and great food!
Very good!!
Great beers, and first time Ive been somewhere in canada that actually looks and feels like a pub does in england
The food was great (I had the fish and chips) and the service was outstanding. The server I had was fantastic, but so was everyone else I interacted with. Wednesday and Thursday evenings theres live music (obviously call to confirm), and they have a variety of happy hour types of specials too. The vibe inside the restaurant is lively too.
A very rustic, old school Irish pub. Tried the fish and chips which were good and huge (bigger than they appear in pictures!), though a bit too oily to consume in one sitting. I also tried the pretzel bites - the bites were good and plentiful, but the cheese sauce left much to be desired.
Outstanding food, atmosphere and service. Located in the historic Basilica district, we found this to be a great stop for dinner. Beef melt was savory, roasted potatoes were cooked just right and the spinach salad was very tasty. Presentation of dishes is what you d expect from a much-higher priced restaurant. We took advantage of the balcony porch seating. If you can spare the calories, splurge on the lemon bar dessert. Highly recommend this stop for Charlottetown visitors.
Wonderful food, excellent service, superior brews. Best pub I ve been to in a while!!
Very nice place, quite busy in the evenings. They have nice staff & the food was really decent!
Had the best experience! The staff is super dedicated, friendly and polite. What a great atmosphere!
Great staff, food and beer!
Great local drink choices
Great food, beers & service! Would definitely recommend.
The staff was wonderful, but the food was fair at best. I ordered chicken tacos with cilantro lime rice while referencing their menu on the MHGDelivered app. When I stopped by to pick up my order, I was shocked at the size of the tacos (they were mini and you only get two, with a tiny amount of rice). The rice was really bitter and I had to throw it out. Disappointing!
Delicious food, great service, and location close to the boardwalk downtown! A perfect stop for tourists cruising through. We ordered two flights of locally crafted beers and more, and enjoyed them on the beautiful patio.
We came here years ago and returned due to Gahan being among our top 3 restaurants on PEI. Everything was good as before, but there must have been an inexperienced cooking staff. One of the mussels gave me two days of food poisoning. Two of our group ordered fish tacos and both dishes were clearly over-salted by mistake (every bite tasted like a salt lick-- the cauliflower tacos were still great). The mussels were gritty and difficult to remove, so not the best quality. I was disappointed. I was bed ridden during a rare and brief family vacation thats already suffered many bumps. All from one of our top 3 restaurants on PEI. Tragedy all around.
Such a nice old building for a restaurant, food was great, environment was amazing
Nice welcome, good beer and excellent meal. I had the traditional fishn ships, my boyfriend the coconut chicken and curry The service is exceptional! Visit every time you visit PEI
i love this place because there was great service and thank you to our waitress Isabella for telling us funny stories about her and the food was great and next that you go to P.E.I make sure to try this lovely restaurant
Amazing food and even better beer. They have so many original beers to have and they are all excellent!
Once again, the second in seven days, nothing but happiness. Excellent burger and clams show. Outstanding service from Maddy! Special thanks to Rebecka for her special attention.
Amazing food! Amazing service! Id do it many times again!
Great service & delicious food!
Amazing dinner! We each found something tasty. Several GF options as well. Highly recommend.
Order tuna tartare not at all good. I wish I would ve taken a picture before I decided to write a review because there was very little tuna they had included onions in it and it was sitting on a few cucumbers. It appeared they try to make it Nancy instead it just didn t taste good. Wouldn t order it again
Service was excellent and the food was absolutely out of this world! All three in my party had haddock dishes and they were splendid. Plates were clean by the end. Would 100% recommend.
The food was not good from my experience eating there. First thing was the food took super long before we were served. My date s bread was served seriously burned so we had to ask to replace it, I don t understand how they could send that to a customer. The steak that came with my meal was not prepared well. My fries were hard, cold and didn t taste very well. My side order of gravy also came cold. At least the waitresses who were working that shift were nice looking. My money was not well spent here.
Fantastic food. My wife tells me this is the best seafood chowder shes ever had. And she makes her own from her family recipe.
Highly recommend this place to anyone who has never been to the East Coast or even a return traveller like me. Saturday night my family and I all got into Charlottetown and we tried finding dinner for a group of 11. Not only were the staff accommodating, friendly, and courteous to us last minute, the food and drinks were stellar. I called the restaurant and a table was ready for us in less than 10 minutes and the staff were even friendly to the children in our group. I can t say the same friendliness I received from another restaurant down the main st when I showed up asking for a table of 11. I have nothing but the kindest things to say about The Gahan House staff, food and beer. Having been to the Gahan House in Halifax in 2018, having come to PEI and drinking their beer in 2017 and now in 2022 with my whole family of 11, glad to see their reputation hasn t changed.
We visited as a big group and aside from great service from our waitress- everything else was disappointing. There are so many other places to eat instead in the area. It took over an hour to get our meals. The calamari is extremely salty. We recommend you avoid it. My husband got the beef melt and he said it was ok. I got the crispy chicken sandwich and it was overcooked and my Caesar salad was hot from sitting under the warm lamps. There was no real air flow where we were sitting as well so it was muggy and hot which added to our less than enjoyable experience.
We Stopped for lunch and enjoyed Fish cakes, beet salad and fish and chip. The cakes were flavourful and horseradish sauce yum yum. Beet salad was refreshing and fresh. Fish and chips, excellent fish have had lighter batter but it was enjoyed.
We shared the Hamburger with the IPA and the price was reasonable. Beautiful on the terrace on the street which was closed for a festival. What tranquility in the middle of the city.
We visited Charlottetown this summer, stayed downtown and this was our favourite place and we came here a couple of times. The location is quaint, the patio was nice, indoor ambiance was perfect as well. Service was amazing and excellent food/drinks. They have a good selection of craft beer that my husband enjoyed. I had oysters everyday and this place was my favourite. Even their chicken caesar salad was delicious. Highly recommend this place. Thank you for making our experience wonderful!
We really wanted to like this place based on the reviews for the fish n chips. Over battered tasteless fish unfortunately. Super salty fries and tarter sauce. Very disappointed.
Their beers are quite good you can get something original or go for standard and be safe We didnt stay for dinner but the ambiance seemed puby and chilled.
Kid-friendliness: Nice picnic tables outside with a nice space for the kids. They have nice kids glasses and a kids menu.
The seafood chowder is very good, very spicy. The crab cakes are too salty. Lots of employees on the floor, the service is good, but not optimized (many passages in the central aisle). Slightly disappointed with the beer, it lacked a bit of refinement, they only had one IPA on the menu.
Eh just nothing crazy. Very basic. We enjoyed sitting out back on the patio but it needed a little TLC, food was average. Waitstaff gave me chicken tacos instead of haddock and it was blah. Wife had chicken curry which was less of chicken and more on sauce. Just wouldn t go back. Not worth it. So many other gems.
Food taste amazing .
Vegetarian options: Great salads svailable Dietary restrictions: Able to order some items or modify to be gluten free.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent beer and very diverse menu. Everyone liked it (5) Its worth the detour
Delicious menu. Great atmosphere. Lovely staff. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining. We couldn t ask for a better patio dining experience. I suppose that feature is always a gamble for everyone right? Haha.
The food was not that great. It was ok ok. But they had good beers. We made a reservation before we went here. It was 8 pm and the place was not that crowded. There were couple of empty tables and our hostess was hesitant to give us the table we picked, but finally agreed with us. Our waitress was super cool and patiently helped us through the menu. She even helped us to get different flavours in baked oysters. Please ask and you might get some good suggestions for the sauce on baked oysters. Their jalapeño dip was not that great. The fish tacos and buffalo cauliflower were good. It s a great place for beers and has good ambiance. The food for us was just average.
Great atmosphere, good food.
Great place. Good craft beers. Reasonable price. I would go again.
Great service! A little of wait for the table but it was worth it. We ordered Haddock tacos and beef melt. Both were amazing. I recommend it.
Excellent beer, good food and beautiful historic restaurant. Welcoming and friendly staff. Reasonable price.
Dirty plates and cold over cooked expensive fish n chips. Gahan what happened, you used to be some good. So disappointed Couldnt finish our meal, just paid and left most behind.
A delightful lunch and fantastic service! Highly recommend!
Ii have been coming to this bar for so long . It s amazing how great the staff is. The waitress Maria if your lucky waited on me a few times. She is by far the most knowledgeable and polite server I have experienced as a pilot travelling. I can recommend more!!
Loved the brewery! Absolutely fantastic beer. I cant speak for the food but judging from the crowd, the food was great. Love the vibe as well.
Beef melt and fish & chips were very good. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere.
Our walk about Charlottetown luckily brought us here... excellent food, great beers (which we brought back to the hotel with us) and the service was top notch. Highly recommended!!!
Ryan are server was super polite replaced my drink when I didnt like it food was excellent! Definitely recommend!
Service was slow , left after appetizers , didn t see waitress for over half an hour, Nachos were below expectations,
A complete hidden gem, their local brew is top notch. For years I ve been lost trying to find a replacement for Nickel Brooke Brewery Raspberry Sour, The Gagan House revitalized that and crushed it! Great service and great atmosphere, and top notch service with Ryan and Sarah also! Oh and small town, you ll bump into local music artist Lawrence Maxwell. This is a great compliment to the PEI experience overall!!!
